Dr. W.D Gaster is bone tired ( ha ). He sips on a mug of coffee strong enough to kill 5 people twice over ( he probably formulated a super compound of powdered caffeine for this very purpose, who knows? ). He is, however, also addicted to desperation. He knows about himself well enough to understand this. Hell, just remembering the times where barrier research and experimentation was fairly new is proof of this. He's worked forever on possible theories/solutions then and he still does now.
He will do whatever it takes to free the underground. No matter the cost.

There was a grunt below, causing Reaper to refocus as the skeleton below cracked his back and peered up at the hazy orange ball the sun had become. Their gazes almost seemed to lock, the soft green held within the mortal’s a painfully familiar color. They seemed to stare right at him.
“Uh… Howdy there stranger. Watcha doin’ way up there?” The other called.
Reaper’s chest filled with ice as he turned to see who the other could be speaking to. It couldn’t be him. Yet, he was as alone as ever. He twirled back around to see the other had waved his hands around, seemingly just as startled. -

Summary
Red has lived with his brother, Edge, for years at their newest foster home. He's made a few friends, ones he sees on the regular. And he's told Undyne and Alphys that they can bring over friends of their own anytime they want. They'd never taken him up on that offer before.
Now, Alphys comes over with a new friend. His name is Sans.
He's weird. Red doesn't mind, but when Sans runs out in the middle of movie night it raises some red flags. Is Sans okay? Probably not. But is it Red's place to care?
VERY alternate of an AU: Monsters were never Underground, and the social dynamics are totally different. It's literally so AU it's practically an original work with the same characters. Oops.

Summary
Suffering through personal struggles and the ever-present stress of being trapped in the Underground, several monsters Fall Down and are sent to the Royal Scientist in a desperate attempt to salvage their lives. Papyrus is one of them.
Papyrus is the only monster to walk out of Alphys' lab after being injected with Determination, evading the fate of the Amalgamates.
He is not spared, however, from other adverse effects.

Papyrus, for once, was actually starting to annoy Frisk and get on her nerves. She knew he wasn't doing it on purpose, but she was having a horrible day anyways. Sans noticed their commotion and stepped in as he was not used to witnessing Frisk acting the way she did before, especially towards Papyrus. When things got too out of hand, he decided to step in.

Red and blue flashes across his vision momentarily before a white spotlight is put on him, and he covers his eyesockets with a shaky hand. He tries to yell for help, but his voice catches in his throat. He swallows, stumbles forward a few steps, and manages to croak out a pitiful “HELP, PLEASE—” before he’s cut off by a loud staticy crackle.

Papyrus wakes up from an unintentional nap and finds out that he's screwed. There's also a baby.
