Before Wanheda defeated the mountain. Before Octavia joined Trikru. Before Clarke made contact with Anya. Before Lincoln saved the second Blake. Before the Skaikru even knew what a grounder was. Before everything, there was a young Azgeda spy that just happened to be in the right place at the right time. She walked through Skaikru as their own. All for her Queen. But on the ground everything starts and ends in blood. And a spy’s blood was always meant to be spilled. Just not like this.

Heat prickled across his cheeks, but Bellamy forced himself to focus, remembering the way Kova's hands trembled as they tied the strip of fabric around his wound, the way relief eased their tense shoulders once they realized it wasn't fatal. He thought of the night they volunteered to infiltrate Mount Weather by his side, unwilling to let him face it alone—how their dark eyes caught firelight. And that was enough.
The space between their lips vanished.

"Have they?" he asked, gritting his teeth against the sting of her betrayal. The tip of the blade bit into her skin. A bead of blood streamed down her throat, mixing with rainwater. "I should kill you here."
"What's stopping you?"
Droplets of water caught on his eyelashes, and a shadow passed over his eyes. Sometimes, he thought, a lie was easier than the truth. "I don't know."

But she goes ahead and saves him anyway.
