Summary
With his nation on the brink of war, Prince Park Jimin faces challenges from all sides: from his father, convinced his soft-hearted son will never be the king Namhan needs; from his people, doubting his mettle as a ruler in the shadow of his father; from his enemies in court, desperate to remove the King’s only successor by any means necessary; from Geumho, sieging their borders and killing his people; and from his heart, aching with want to be loved but convinced those he is drawn to will only ever be the death of him. It certainly doesn’t help that in order to save his nation and convince his father and people of his competency as Crown Prince, Jimin is forced to work with Jeon Jungkook, General of his nation’s army, a childhood friend that once held his heart - only to leave it in pieces. And it’s made still worse that, for all his strengths as a soldier and leader, Jungkook and Jimin stand on opposite sides of a moral rift, unable to reconcile their dissenting hearts and minds as true war brews on the horizon.
Will they be able to overcome their differences and help to save their people from invasion? Or will the pain and sorrow of a youth not forgotten keep them from becoming the leaders their country needs?
