The words hit Jiang Cheng like shards of glass, Nie Huaisang seemingly oblivious to the way Jiang Cheng’s expression fell. There stood Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, lost in their own world. Wei Wuxian’s hands were all over Lan Wangji, rubbing a layer of sunscreen onto the latter’s back as Lan Wangji stood silently, already red in the face from the heat. Jiang Cheng’s fist clenched as he watched Wei Wuxian’s perpetual chatter fill the space with its clamorous disorganization, at ease even as his hands roamed over Lan Wangji’s abs, his biceps, and chest.
After Wei Wuxian deemed Lan Wangji fit to go, he started to lather himself with the sunscreen as well. Jiang Cheng watched him with scathing eyes, the ugly pit in his stomach growing heavier the longer he watched.

“Shixiong!”
The annoyed exclamation was followed by the giggles of another voice, louder than the previous.
“Shixiong?” Wei Yuan whispered to himself, and he looked back to Jin Ling to confirm that the latter had heard the same. They both walked towards the muffled chatter with curiosity, stopping when they witnessed the sight of two children with their backs towards them, kneeling in front of a table with numerous pages of parchment scattered throughout.
The taller child was the one who was laughing almost uncontrollably, whilst the smaller one turned to him with a look of vexation. The smaller one stood up, huffing and muttering to himself while the older one was keeling over in his fit of laughter. The calligraphy brush that flew from the younger’s hand and smacked straight into the elder’s forehead caused the latter to pause in his hysterics, instead focusing his attention on the younger and pouting.
“Shidi,” The older boy whined,
“That really hurt.”

Lan Zhan goes to study at the YunmengJiang Academy as part of the time-honoured traditional annual summer exchange program between them and the GusuLan Academy. Before leaving, he was warned by his uncle about how Terrible, Horrible, No Good those Yunmeng Boys™ are and how they will Seduce You Away From Your Studies and to avoid them at all costs.
Spoiler: It doesn't work, and Lan Zhan doesn't quite know what happened, but now he finds himself being seduced by the two resident Yunmeng Heartthrobs™, Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng, who took one look at poor innocent Lan Zhan and closed in on him like a pair of foxes scenting a poor helpless bunny.
Lan Zhan finds that he actually, really, quite enjoys being a poor helpless bunny if it means that these are the handsome foxes chasing after him (even if it means he melts into a panicked puddle of messy feeings every time he sees them).

He was only moderately surprised when he coughed up a few petals. They were white and beautiful. Of course Lan Zhan would give him beautiful flowers. He flushed them in the toilet, and tried not to think of them again.
When Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying welcome Lan Zhan into their relationship, it doesn't take long for Jiang Cheng to start coughing up flowers. It's quite clear to him that he's the "buy one, get one free", the cost Lan Zhan has to bear to be with Wei Ying. It's not really surprising, and Jiang Cheng would be fine with it if not for the knowledge that his death might make Wei Ying sad and also, maybe, negatively affect Wei Ying and Lan Zhan's relationship.
Ensues a last, desperate attempt to make Lan Zhan fall in love with him. -

Summary
In a world where demons and other supernatural creatures are sent to government-sanctioned reform and correctional institutes, it's possible to earn a living as a bounty hunter, hunting down escapees to ensure the safety of society.
Nie Mingjue is such a hunter, and is sent after a pair of Huli Jing escaped from one of these facilities. A selfless act of protection, and an encounter with a local doctor and demon-sympathiser begins to open his eyes to a truth he had never seen before, however.
Meanwhile, newly mated Wei Wuxian, a dragon snatched from the rivers as a whelp, and Jiang Cheng, a snake demon who can't remember if he ever knew a life outside of the institute, are enraged and desperate to reclaim their brood, as their first clutch of eggs is cruelly taken away from them by facility wardens.
Resourceful and angry, the pair might have set in motion events that they never even anticipated.
