Summary
Taiju feeds him his magazine paper and Hakkai knows he will always be destined to be the loser. The paper cuts his lips and tongue, sometimes even gets stuck inside his throat, and Hakkai can't fight, he can only swallow, swallow the tears that flood his cheeks and pray to stay alive.
Hakkai should have hidden them better. He remembers now, when he was only ten years old, that Taiju had beaten up two men who were kissing each other’s lips at the corner of a street, outside a bar; but Hakkai hadn't understood back then, all the words Taiju was shouting, all the insults that fell upon those pleading and bloody bodies. It was only a kiss that Hakkai hadn't seen that angered his brother; but Hakkai was just a kid, he couldn't know. Taiju held out his reddish hand to him, and told him never do that, Hakkai but Hakkai didn't understand whether it was kissing another man or beating people up. He just tied his little virgin hand in his, trembling like a leaf, and nodded yes, too scared to say a word.
