Summary
What if Jesus had ended up at Woodbury instead of the Hilltop? What if he met the group at the prison in season 3?
__
Paul rounded the corner to the row of cells leading to the one he’d been locked in, only to find Daryl there, in the middle of the walkway, staring at the spot Paul was supposed to be. Paul stopped and took a bite out of the cookie in his hand. It was sweet and horribly stale. Hard as a rock, it crunched loudly when it broke under the force of his teeth.
Daryl’s head whipped around and their eyes locked. Paul watched in fascination as Daryl’s expression slipped quickly from surprise to anger, his face flushing red all the way down his neck. Paul took another almost painful bite of the cookie, crunching noisily while he chewed.
“The hell’re you doin’?”
“You didn’t leave me any food. I was hungry,” Paul said, raising what remained of the cookie in explanation. “I was coming back like a good prisoner.”
“Good prisoners don’t go walkin’ around the prison stealin’ shit.”
Paul hummed in thought. “I suppose it depends on how you define a good prisoner, doesn’t it?”

Summary
Paul Monroe isn't quite sure where he is, but he knows it's not where he's from anymore. He doesn't know why this redneck he just met hates him for simply existing, his boyfriend is missing an entire hand, and everyone keeps telling him he's gone and died.
AKA the one where Comic Jesus ends up in the wrong universe, and things get REALLY weird.

Summary
Glenn and Daryl meet right after the outbreak. If the dead rising to eat the living wasn't weird enough, things take and ever weirder turn after a bit of military bureaucracy at the refugee camp leaves them listed as partners in a civil union.

“The hell you doin’ out here deliverin’ pizzas if there’s a state of emergency been declared?” Daryl asked. He pushed some of the empty beer cans away, listening to them fall to the floor in a clatter, as he made room to sit his ass down on the seat opposite Glenn.
“Uh, I’ve got rent to pay and student loans for the degree I never finished,” Glenn replied, taking a bite of his pizza and chewing. “You really haven’t heard anything?”
“Been out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere the last two weeks,” Daryl replied, opening the lid of the pizza box and taking a slice for himself.
“Jeez, man,” Glenn said, his mouth working around a lump of thick, congealed cheese. “You’ve missed a whole lot.”
“Yeah? You gonna start catchin’ me up or we just gonna sit here n’ have the world’s shittiest blind first date.”

Summary
"He feels his body tense but he doesn't move away. There was a time when he would have, but he's learned that Carol's proximity, Carol's touch is nothing to shy away from. It's always kind, gentle, sometimes teasing, but even then he doesn't mind it so much. Some days he even feels on the verge of not just not flinching at it, but actually accepting it, welcoming it, maybe even initiating it himself."
*A retelling of Caryl's story during Seasons 4 and 5.

Summary
Waking up in a hospital without knowing how you got there is disorienting. But when you realize you've somehow shrunk, the confusion deepens. It gets even stranger when people you don't recognize start claiming to be your family.
Then comes the gut punch: You were in a car crash with your step-dad. He didn't make it, and you've been in a coma for two weeks. Processing that is hard enough, but the real mind-bender is the nagging doubt—what if everything you know is just an elaborate dream? What if none of it is real? And yet, these strangers expect you to behave as if it is.
Or
Imagine this: You're an adult from our world, but you wake up in the hospital of a completely different one—the world of “The Walking Dead”. New body, new family, new town. The memories of your life back home are fuzzy, but something about this place feels familiar. Eventually, the dead start rising, and it hits you: This is just like that show you binged with your mom. Now, those hazy memories of TV episodes might be the only thing standing between you and a gruesome death.

Summary
Love and violence had always come wrapped around one another in my life. Until her. And I wasn't sure I knew how to untangle them.
Dixon men loved in anger and fists and blood. I couldn't risk loving someone that way.

Naomi Payton was Daryl Dixon's childhood best friend. In truth, they were each others only friend. Summary
“Sorry,” Aaron said, stepping into Daryl’s camp. His eyes glossed over the small space, landing on Daryl, fishing rod in hand. “You had plans?”
Daryl shrugged. “Was goin’ fishin’,” he said, voicing what they both clearly knew already.
“I should go,” Aaron said, sounding oddly regretful. He placed the bag of supplies down beside one of the tent pegs. “Leave you to it.”
Daryl grunted, scratching at his neck. “Got a spare if you wanna come with. ‘Less you got someplace to be.”
“Do I get to keep what I catch?” Aaron asked, already taking the rod Daryl was holding out in his direction.
“Catch somethin’ worth keepin’ first,” Daryl said, and they fell into step heading towards the river.

Summary
“I ain’t chasing after you again!” Daryl called from the porch, barely visible now in the fading light.
“Almost doesn’t seem worth it then,” Jesus called back, cheerfully, and performed a little twirl in the mud.
“You catch cold and you can get yourself back to Hilltop!” Daryl yelled after him, and Jesus responded by raising his middle finger in the air, illuminated with the beam of his flashlight, not bothering to slow down or look back.

A rewrite of the second half of season 6, and seasons 7 and 8 with all the violence of canon, a little less main character death, and a touch more romance.

Summary
There wasn’t any light pollution anymore, not since the world ended. It made the night sky look different; wider, almost. As Daryl laid there, his eyes found Sagittarius, blinking at him from just above the trees. The bowman. The survivor. The archer.
How often had he stared at the sky as a kid, as a young adult, and not noticed that constellation? He didn’t need its points to navigate, so his gaze had passed over it, cast it as insignificant. Now, it was like those stars were engraved in his soul, chiseled into his bones, branded into his skin. When Carol pointed it out, when she grinned up at him like he’d hung that damn constellation himself, it became him. He was Sagittarius.

Summary
Daryl and Rick take a walk. Disaster can strike at any time. So can feelings.
“You got a plan?” Daryl asks. His voice sounds overly loud with all the blood rushing to his head like this.
“Yeah,” Rick grunts.
Which ain’t, you know. Telling him the plan. But whatever. They didn’t get this far by distracting each other during survival situations....
Rick thought he was watching him for weakness, but Daryl watches him for strength.

Summary
I have been rewatching TWD recently and felt compelled. Not the biggest fan of Season 10 so this is a bit canon divergent. Let’s just say that Leah is controversial and I don’t ship it so they were just friends and that’s how Dog chose Daryl.
Making friends in Alexandria is easier than on the road, which also means friendships can evolve and become something more if the connection is there. There's definitely a connection. -

Summary
After her shift at the pizzeria, Glenn Rhee went into Lucky’s bar looking to play darts, pretend she was drinking, and maybe get laid. After driving all damn day to get to Atlanta, Daryl Dixon went into Lucky’s bar looking for a meal, a beer, and a sink where he could get washed up a little.
In the morning, Glenn was meant to go to her second job at the convenience store. In the morning, Daryl was meant to pick-up his brother from the drunk tank in the 23rd precinct.
And all of that would’ve happened, except that the world fell to pieces one day ahead of schedule.

Summary
Daryl isn’t afraid to touch her. He’s afraid of what happens when it’s back to a dim cage and a wire mother. He’s afraid of when she leaves, runs, dies — his whole life, Daryl has watched people spin and burn out, sometimes just their soul and not their body. Life doesn’t treat his kind well and after Merle, he swore he’d never get close to someone again.
Despite all of that, Daryl reaches out and awkwardly slides an arm around Beth’s shoulders.
