Summary
Thranduil always preferred the company of male elves, which
his father did not approve of. After Oropher ended his son's
relationship with Celebrimbor, he arranged a marriage for
Thranduil to the daughter of highborn Sindar elves from Forlond.
Once Oropher became king of Greenwood the Great, he and
Thranduil returned to Mithlond so the prince could wed his bride in Forlond.
Thranduil and Mívalyë returned to Greenwood as a married couple. However,
Thranduil met Feren, a soldier and guard in his father's court, and fell in love.
Mívalyë approves of their relationship, as long as Thranduil also spends
time with her. Eventually, the princess conceived but tragically lost the child.
Then, before war broke out, she decided to travel across Middle-earth.
She returns after the war ends with an elfling she found on her travels.
The princess conceives again, giving birth to Legolas. -

“The Mewlips?” Ronald asked, taking out his notebook. That one could go on scribbling right through a barrage.

“Yes. The marsh of Tode, that’s what they say. No idea what or where that would be, though.”
“Tod, more likely than not. It's German for Death."A treat for Innumerable Stars 2023.

I love drabbles. They fill up the corners and allow me to play with fanfic in a spare half hour. So whenever I have a few I'll be posting them here. They'll cover all sorts of Tolkien characters in all kinds of situations. Dip in during you coffee break. Enjoy.

Summary
In 1944 S.A. Gondor was attacked a second time by the Wainriders from the far East.
"In 1944 King Ondoher and both his sons, Artamir and Faramir, fell in battle north of the Morannon, and the Enemy poured into Ithilen. But Earnil, captain of the Southern Army, won a great victory in South Ithilien and destroyed the army of Harad that had crossed the River Poros. Hastening North, he gathered to him all that he could of the retreating Northern Army and came up against the main camp of the Wainriders, while they were feasting and reveling, believing that Gondor was overthrown and but nothing remained but to take the spoil. Earnil stormed the camp and set fire to the wains, and drove the Enemy in a great rout out of Ithilien. A great part of those who fled before him perished in the Dead Marshes" (The Return of the King, Appendix A, pg. 370-371).
The Wainriders who fled from the rout experienced the terror of the Dead Marshes, and few escaped alive.
