Summary
Wilhelm is crushed and devastated after losing his beloved brother in a car crash, which he survived. Now every day is a circle of questions and whys. Why did Erik deserve this? Why is this life so fucking unfair? Why should he keep going, if the only person who ever understood him is gone? If his parents hadn’t forced him to go to therapy, he wouldn’t know if he would ever go outside again. So the only social interactions he didn’t avoid happened in his therapist’s office, but even there he only saw every week after each appointment the same guy with dark curly hair sitting on a chair waiting for his appointment. Wilhelm felt a content feeling about this continuity and became more and more curious in which mood the guy was. Not that he ever had spoken to him. He only knows, that his therapist was calling him Simon. And he tried to read Simon. One day he seemed annoyed, another day he seemed nervous, as he and Boris stepped out of Boris office. One day he seemed quite happy. But Wilhelm didn’t know anything more than that. He reminded himself every week, that he was going to therapy to repair a little bit of his shitty life. Not to connect with other people. But maybe some things in life are meant to be.

Simon snapped his head up at the sound of his own name. The only thing he seemed to know about himself. The person in front of him was unfamiliar, and he wracked his tired brain to try and make some connection between what he was seeing and his muddled memories.

He stares at the picture of his employee, walking in the street, none the wiser about his picture being taken. He has some qualms about it, but Simon Eriksson is not his to protect, and at least he knows this whole charade would be over quick if he puts him on the job. So he shakes a hand tonight.

Simon stood there for a moment, the wind still tugging at his pyjamas and tousling his hair. For the second time in 12 hours, he felt that strange warmth bubble up inside him – a tentative hope. Maybe this island life would work out after all. Maybe this was what he needed to put himself back together. And okay, fine. Maybe having a ridiculously cute neighbour didn’t hurt either.
Simon watched as the guy half-jogged, half-stumbled his way along the road, tripping not once, but twice. Something about their conversation had gone weirdly sideways, but Simon couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Why the sudden rush, Will? Got a hot breakfast date with your labrador?

Love, apparently, comes at the most unexpected moments and in the most random places. Wille agrees with that. He did not expect to meet the love of his life online, but the moment his eyes landed on Simon through the screen, it was like he knew that it was going to be something special, something extraordinary...
What he did not know then, was the distance between them, the differences, the troubles they were going to face in order to be together in the way they wanted to.
But another thing that he does know, is that Simon is worth it and that they are in this together, both of them willing to put themselves through all of the obstacles if it means they get their happy ending.
The question is: will they get it?

“Well, as far as anyone is concerned, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be sharing a room.” Simon says, stepping into the conversation with an unenthused sigh. “Besides, it’s not like it was you in the video, right?”

Wilhelm and Simon end up going to the same university, have the same group of friends, and are on the same rowing team. If Wille didn’t think life was cruel before, he certainly does now. Especially when Adam, the new team captain, takes a less-than-innocent interest in Simon Eriksson.
