Summary
Twenty-two years after Buffy Summers changed slayer lore and imbued potentials worldwide with the power to fight the forces of darkness, the world has turned against them. The authorities and systemic powers see them as a threat to be contained - females with that kind of strength terrify them - and now the US has initiated a lockdown order to halt their movement. All slayers must be registered with the joint councils and undergo regular assessments. Trials akin to Salem are being used to identify those who try to remain independent. Companies vie for government contracts to develop drugs and tech that can subdue them.
Ari just wants to continue the hunt for her lover's killer. She doesn't want to get dragged into the fight for slayer freedoms. She definitely does not want to be stuck in Boca Raton with a bunch of strangers who know more about her and what's going on than they first let on, and especially not that drop dead gorgeous, annoying, cocky ass bald woman who keeps showing up at crucial times. She doesn't do ties that bind, doesn't stay put in one place. There's too much that could catch up with her if she does.OR

The truck pulled to a stop in front of the building. The couple made their way inside, heading straight to the penthouse elevator. Ari put in her code that called it down, and they slipped in quietly. Cynthia’s fingers were tapping against her thigh fully covered by the expensive coat. Her skin was heated and itchy under the material. She would love nothing more than to drop it and pin the blonde against the stainless steel walls of the cabin. But she practiced her breathing techniques, trying not to inhale too much of her omega’s sweet scent, lest she turned feral.

“So the options are: you magically knew she was mine, or you’re more worried I’d drag home a random woman Ive met in Italy?” Cynthia’s brow bone arched.
Ariana shrugged and flicked her hair over her shoulder. “Italian girls are skanks. Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if one tried to sink their claws into you while you were vulnerable.” She said getting worked up again.
“You’ve gone mad, baby girl” Cynthia laughed under her breath. “I can barely handle the Italian spitfire that’s already in my life. Why would I willingly add another?”
Ariana looked up smug.
