He could hear Nick laugh. “Yours looks good,” Nick said and Charlie turned to look at him. It wasn’t often people even noticed his ear piercing, but it was the only actual visible one. “Sorry, that was weird to say too. God, I’m a mess. My dog died.”

Charlie had started writing fanfic by accident, really. Sometimes, after he’d watched a show or read a book, he just really wanted to be a part of that world. As he got older, he came to realize what he was doing and then once he discovered other people did it too, joined the wonderful world of online fanfic writers.
His archive of our own account was under the name sphericalgrin which was just an anagram for his name, Charlie Spring, but a very good one if he did say so himself. He mostly went by Sphere, not willing to share his actual name with anyone just yet.
He gained a bit of a fanbase with some older stuff, he went through a very long Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones phase and then might have taken a brief turn into Destiel (which, he stands by, everyone always does). Eventually he found himself writing The Ark fanfic, he knew RPS wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but he liked writing about Rowan, Jimmy and Lester. He envied their relationships, how the three of them seemed to be so in tune with each other. And no, he wasn’t one of those shippers who looked for clues in every single little thing, but he’d like to believe that Jimmy and Lester would be great boyfriends if they chose to go that route.

Despite what most people would think, it was Charlie who started the tradition of “couple” Halloween costumes.
He liked that sort of thing, sue him.
They switched off throughout the years, surprising each other with their picks. Sometimes happy ones, like when Charlie stepped out as Crowley and Ed, respectively and nearly killed Nick.
Or really, was nearly killed by Nick’s death grip and massive hug.
And then sometimes Charlie ended up with a face full of green paint, so it was a bit of a mixed bag.
