Summary
She inhales the blue rose and forgets. Love she has yet to learn, and Jaffar is here to teach her.
***
"What I mean, my dear," and he leans down to kiss her forehead, then her lips, "is that I am going to teach you a new lesson each night, until you are ready." He kisses her left breast, then her right. "Every night, we'll learn and teach each other." He goes down on one knee and kisses her belly. "Until, on the final night..." his mouth hovers over her bare, shaven sex, and she presses her thighs tighter together. She's wet, and she knows that he knows, that he can smell her.
"Yes?" She cannot keep her voice from shaking.
He presses his thumb into the top of her slit, looking up into her eyes, smirking. "On the final night, you'll be so open for me, so ready for me I can just slip inside of you." He presses his lips into her folds, flicking out his tongue, and her knees buckle from underneath her--
And then, just like that, he stops.
She screams in frustration, tries to grab his hair, but he's already on his feet, laughing, staggering back and licking his glistening lips. "I've already given you too much. Come to bed."

Summary
Know that I await your tender kisses; know that I await the sweet safety of your embrace, but know that I also await him. Oh, yes, I await him. I have missed his feline steps in our bedchamber, have missed his shadow falling over me, have missed his teeth sinking into my shoulder as he takes me without mercy. He is everything I feared about my old witch-suitor; he is everything that makes my heart leap in exquisite terror still. He is my dark prince in the mirror, the shadow in my garden, the one whose gaze was always upon me like an angel's--or a devil's. I have not known him for a long time. Tell me the wait is over. Tell me tomorrow I shall meet him again.
Jaffar and Yassamin are separated for weeks and correspond through a series of erotic love letters. Once they are finally reunited, their mutual longing has grown so great it is not easily sated. Both desire to possess the other to the fullest, to the point where taboos and mores no longer matter.

Summary
Once upon a time, he must have been the most beautiful of youths, but it was the man in him I wanted: you remember my foolish attempt to lure him to my bedchamber with the promise of a boy. Even if it was I who had wanted to play the boy to him, to taste the kiss of a moustachioed, stubbled face, to feel his adult man's weight settling between my legs. And now, he was offering me his wife, it seemed; was keen to devour us both.
The Byzantine ambassador returns to visit Jaffar and his queen and is enamoured of them both. It is one thing to desire a king and his queen, but another to show it--could acting upon his desire mean losing his head?

Summary
Grand Vizier Jaffar the Barmakid has sworn to never love a woman again, having chosen a life of wine and debaucheries instead. However, his vows are put to the test the day the Caliph asks him to serve as a matchmaker for himself and the beautiful princess Yassamin. For it is not the young Caliph Yassamin's heart stirs for, but the notorious Barmakid prince himself.
The stars themselves decree Jaffar and Yassamin must love each other, yet it is an affair that could cost them their lives. Separated by harem walls, court intrigues and a brutal civil war, will even Jaffar's magic be enough to help love emerge victorious?

Summary
As Jaffar's older brother arrives to settle old scores, Yassamin discovers dark truths about Jaffar's past. Both Jaffar and Fadl are men wounded, embittered; it is only through indulging in the greatest of sins--that of incest--that those wounds can be healed.
"I can't believe what I'm hearing!" she says, rolling her eyes, but a perverse thrill now stirs within her womb. Perhaps it's exactly because this is dangerous; deliciously, suicidally dangerous. "Are you saying we should seduce him?"
Jaffar closes his eyes, and she can feel him reaching inside of her, feeling for that perversity still swirling warm and bittersweet within her hips, pomegranate-dark at the back of her mind. He opens his eyes and quirks his eyebrow. "Somehow I do not think you would find it all that unpleasant, my Babylonian."
She buries her face in his chest and groans. "Stop doing that, husband."
"I will, once you stop trying to pretend you are indifferent to him," he laughs, a little bitterly. "At least we will burn in Hell side by side."

Summary
Jaffar and Fadl spend one more night together, this time without Yassamin's intercedence. Fadl's bitterness rears its head once more; Jaffar does what he must to temper it, merciless in his love for his recalcitrant brother.
"Don't think I'm done with you yet," Fadl moaned into my mouth as he turned me around and slammed me against the door, undoing the knot at my waist, reaching his hand between my legs so that he might push a finger inside of me.
"Does this help?" I laughed in his face incredulously, tearing down his drawers in turn, clawing at his buttocks. "Yassamin told me she felt like the vessel of our reconciliation. Is it flesh that you require to sate your anger, to expel your rage into? Is that it? How many arses, Fadl, how many cunnies will it take until you are done?"
"Just yours," he growled, spitting into his hand and working his prick with it. "Turn around."

Summary
The autumn stars always drive Yassamin mad from desire, mad: this year, her frenzy is of an altogether sodomitic nature. Jaffar, of course, is only glad to experiment with various treatments to help assuage her 'fever.'
Yet, come Mehregan, the bloodied memory of Harun al-Rashid arises to torment both Jaffar and Fadl: they cannot keep the truth of the Barmakid tragedy from Zainab and the children any longer. How *did* they survive the massacre?
Meanwhile, Fadl and Zainab's relationship deepens in unexpected ways...
***
Jaffar shares with Yassamin the vision spreading out before his eyes: her arse gaping open, filled to the brim with golden, sloshing oil; his hands leaving great golden smears on the white mounds of her buttocks, her fat rippling between his fingers as he clutches at her flesh.
But he wants more, more, wants to make this arse into a feast before he takes it: now, he slaps and *claws* the oil into her buttocks, leaving red welts in his wake. She shivers as the oil tingles in the welts, healing them immediately; he laughs as he realises he's now competing with the oil, creating patterns with his hands only to have them instantly swallowed up by a golden glow.

Summary
His brother is as beautiful as a houri.
And Fadl does not care if, in thinking this, he blasphemes: already the soft, sensuous veils of sin have wrapt themselves about his brain in the form of a heady, dark and rich date wine.
For now, Jaffar, upon a drunken whim, has availed himself of all their sister's finery and made himself female.
Knowing exactly how beautiful he is, beautifuller than any woman Fadl has ever seen, he now poses for his brother in the manner of the skilledmost of courtesans, singing-girls when they wish to drive their masters into erotic frenzies.
And it is indeed a frenzy Jaffar now incites in Fadl's mind, heart and loins: never has he been to him as beautiful. Perfumed, night-black curls hang thick and heavy on either side of his face as if clusters of grapes; his skin shines soft, pale, luminous from rich creams and unguents made shimmering from powdered pearls. Anklets, bangles, necklaces, earrings, brow-chains, armlets, belts, rings upon his fingers and toes tinkle at his slightest movements, now chiming wildly the myriad tambourines of a heathen dance; a band of maenads he makes music there as he stretches, arches, sways in voluptuous delight.

Summary
Jaffar and Yassamin's passion-filled holiday at the palace of Afrasiyab is shadowed by what they soon discover is a conspiracy against Jaffar's brother, Mohammad, the sultan of Samarkand. The Barmakid brothers and the women all set out to uncover the plot and to disarm the rebels by any means necessary; magic and seduction their foremost weapons in their battle to protect their beloved city.
***
"Sit down," Jaffar whispers and smacks Fadl on the arse, taking his own advice on one of the marble benches lining the pool. "You're not exactly being inconspicuous."
"Neither are you," Fadl groans. "You haven't stopped posing since we came here!" he grumbles and pokes Jaffar with an elbow as he catches him making eyes at yet another man. "What's gone into you, you madman? Are you in heat?!"
"Perhaps, brother mine, perhaps," Jaffar purrs and sprawls against the back of the bench. He leans on his elbows and tilts his head against the wall a coquette, letting his freshly-oiled hair tumble onto his neck and shoulders as he lounges there. The length of his legs allows him to spread them in blatant offering, his towel--if you can call it that--of thin white cotton revealing more than it hides.
