Summary
Jacq has a small problem. He wants to ask Raifort out for dinner to see if she’s interested in him but at the same time doesn’t want to make it too intimate since they’re only just breaking out of being close co-workers. He ends up swallowing his pride to ask Clavell if he would join them on the date, but Clavell is reluctant to play the third wheel at his age, not to mention Jacq considers him a father figure, which makes it even more awkward.
But unable to abandon the younger researcher and worried about Jacq’s prospects of dating a known cat thief he offers to call you. You have a boyfriend and as far as you had told Clavell (you hadn’t but whatever) you’d not had a good reason to go out for dinner with him for a while. Cue Clavell spying on Jacq and Raifort dressed as Clive, whilst you attempt to circumnavigate the ‘fake dating’ world in a turmoil of bad puns, handsy misunderstandings, overly suggestive flirtatious jokes and a boyfriend whose social anxiety gets so bad he drinks too much and starts telling Raifort about things Clavell is hiding from her because he needs to look cool and is totally not Clavell in disguise.
