Fyodor's goal has yet to come to fruition, but thankfully, he's been blessed with a long life, leaving him plenty of time to seek out a solution to the world's sin in service to his God. But the death of that Port Mafia boss, Dazai Osamu, has thrown a wrench into his understanding of the universe. Returning to Yokohama after coming up empty through his travels trying to find answers to some of his questions, he takes a walk through a park and comes across something interesting.

Summary
During a mission on a mysterious transport involving an unknown substance, Chuuya and Dazai run into each other. But an accident forces them to take refuge in a cabin in the middle of a forest. To make matters worse, they have no way of communicating with the outside world, and they seem to have gotten sick without knowing how much time they have left.
Or: Chuuya and Dazai are both sick and injured, trying to protect each other as hope gradually fades.

"Chuuya—"
"Don't fucking—*don't!* Fucking SPARE me! I don't need your or anyone else's help! You are the LAST person who has the right to offer me anything! FUCK!” Chuuya shrieks, then he collapses onto the floor screaming.
The floor shatters under him as For the Tainted Sorrow roars in his veins.
“Shit,” he curses, watching fragments of the floor start to float up around him. “Shit-shit-shit!"
His hands are shaking, but he can’t get gravity to respond. He can’t get his own body to respond.
Then a cool hand lands on his shoulder, and everything clatters back to the ground.*“I won’t leave you.”*
Or, Chuuya breaks, and Dazai spends a year putting his pieces back together, no matter how many times he cuts his fingers on their sharp edges.
At the end, they’re both softer for it.Epilogue starts at chapter 39!

After the absolute shit storm that has become of Yokohama, being sent around Europe to negotiate with allies is almost a relief for Chuuya. All he wants is to do his job without some asshole showing up and trying to destroy the world. To do his job without his shitty ex-partner-turned-detective screwing with him, and without his adopted aunt and boss breathing down his neck. In fact, if everything could just go back to the way it was, that would be great.
But making sure the different mafias don't start wars among each other is the least of Chuuya's worries. Something else is coming. Something dangerous. Something that draws him back to Yokohama and even deeper into his past.
Things are about to get a lot more complicated, whether Chuuya likes it or not.

The instances Chuuya would fish him out himself had been few, though struck the most, as each time Dazai would ask why he didn’t just let him die in piece, his answer would be the same:

…even though you'd never do the same for me.”
