Chrissy Cunningham is being plagued by nightmares. Having nightmares during sleep is one thing, but to see them during the day was something else entirely. Adding that to the list of also crumbling under the pressure of her demanding boyfriend, her controlling mother and loosing the battle against a serious eating disorder.
In a desperate need of help, Chrissy leaves a note in Eddie Munson's locker, the known Hawkins High drug dealer and local "freak", in the hopes that he would have something to help her.
He does, but soon Chrissy realizes that maybe it's not his drugs that keeps her nightmares away, but maybe the "freak" himself. -

Doing her best not to disrupt the class or call attention to herself, Chrissy tried to reach for the pen, stretching her leg as much as she could to drag it toward her. It wasn't a very solid plan so it took her a while to bring it closer and when she did, before she leaned to grab it, she looked straight ahead and was struck with a wild revelation.
Eddie Munson (drug dealer, teacher’s worst nightmare, rumored worshiper of Satan) was looking at her.
She gasped.
He sat on the opposite side of the class, facing her, but Chrissy had never once in her life spoken to him. She would have immediately averted her eyes if it wasn't for the fact that he wasn't looking into her eyes at all. He was looking at her, but not at what she was doing or the face she was making. Eddie headed for the bathroom, before suffering a ruptured aneurysm. He literally has to hold his jaw to keep it from dropping.

He still doesn't know which feeling predominates more in the chaos of his mind. On the one hand, he wants to lick every inch of her emerging spine. To bend her over the counter to do it. And yet, on the other hand, he feels a little like crying. It's true, it's pathetic, but she's the only one who makes it that way. It's a little touching, for her who had no right to be imperfect, to show herself to him in a more vulnerable form, not yet complete.
