She didn't expect a timely response—truthfully, she didn't expect one at all—but surprisingly, only half an hour later, a canister shot back with a dull thump. Caitlyn carefully extracted the paper, squinting at the scribbled words:
DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT!
A crudely drawn smiley face with a tongue sticking out accompanied the message. Caitlyn groaned inwardly; those four casual words told her far more than Jinx likely intended. If Jinx was trying to deter her curiosity, then something was indeed going on—and that was the worst possible reassurance she could've received.
