Summary
In a post-apocalyptic world where the Celliens/Ceruleans have taken over the world, Friends and (the few remaining) Humans alike try their best to stave off the crushing dread of their dying world by huddling together in safe areas in the ruins of what once was a world they belonged to.
This fic explores themes of existential dread in a dead world, as well as survivor's guilt, depression, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.
It is a story of finding hope in what's broken.
Kemono Friends, after all, is all about the good things in life. If this fic was all angst and no comfort, it wouldn't truly be Kemono Friends.
The message of this story is "If you need a hero, just look in the mirror. Everyone's hurtning, but you can't give up. Hang on. The sun will come out. Nothing good ever comes easy. Flowers will bloom after the storm."
