Summary
Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London, has always tried to keep both feet on the ground. It’s a pity, then, that the universe has other plans, and upon making a rather ill-advised decision to read one troublesome book, Jon finds his life quite literally turned upside down. Now six feet overground and one strong breeze away from deep space exploration, he’ll have to reckon with the forces that rule his life—and, ultimately, decide whether they rule him at all.
But while Jon pontificates from on high, the inestimable Sasha James, Archival Assistant and unintended sleuth, is trying to discover what all this is about. Surrounded by suspicious strangers, mind-mangling manuscripts, and unexplained plumbing problems, she has plenty of places to start. She’ll find out who did this, even if it means uncovering a few cults along the way. Even if she feels a strange, growing kinship with the dark. Even if her friendship with Tim is deteriorating more by the day.
Fighting the forces of darkness has never been so lonely.
In which Jon learns to let go, Sasha tries to hold tight, and hindsight is twenty-twenty—assuming you still have eyes.

But before he can begin, his first assignment sends him to a remote steppe village to meet his predecessor. The moment he arrives he is accused of murder and has to uncover the truth behind her supposed retirement away from the Capitol.
As if that wasn't enough, there’s a plague sweeping through town with disturbingly familiar characteristics. Hopefully he and Martin, the assistant librarian who volunteered to help him, can get to the bottom of this before they all die from this terrible corruption.

With how many students typically attend Magnus University in Lockwest Hills, one would think that they would be able to hire a team of adults to look after the archives in their paranormal institute. Instead, they're run by Ethan Shiel and his team of classmates, overseen by a graduate who doesn't really seem to care about their activities that much.
They're surprisingly good at their jobs, really. But they're also perceptive, and considering the things they constantly read about happening all around them, it was no wonder that they started to catch on.Or, a crossover between several of my original works and The Magnus Archives, where the canon cast are replaced by a group of similarly-minded teenagers who are possibly even less prepared to face off against The Horrors.

It began as a child. Small things at first, barely noticeable. He hated the way it scraped when he fell, which is natural for most children. He hated the way it bled, the way it pulled when he turned, the way it was the sole thing responsible for keeping himself together. But he didn’t think about it constantly as a child, able to play pirates with Piel and watch his father work and sit nicely in church with a smile on his face.
