Summary
Byleth's hand wandered over to Shez's. He absentmindedly stroked the ring over the glove. When would it be appropriate to hold a wedding, he wondered. It certainly wasn't this year, while the land struggled to find its footing. Probably not next year, either.
A day when Fódlan had healed enough to accept the avatar of the goddess marrying the face of slaughter— even if it wasn't by his own will— felt like forever away.
Following the end of the war, Byleth struggles to restore Fódlan as its new king. His spouse isn't someone the public will accept easily, if at all, and without a greater threat, the lords of Leicester and the Church of Seiros can't seem to stop quarrelling while Faerghus and Adrestia are in ruins.
At least he'll always have his students.
