On 17th of October, 2023, Tony Stark died to ensure the rest of the world lived.
But that doesn't mean that his death was without any regrets.. oh he regretted plenty of shit alright.
However, one thing he didn't account for was that when you wished for a life that wasn't filled with regrets with literal INFINITY STONES around one's fist, they tended to listen to you..
So here he was, back in 2009, trying to fix shit, facing old enemies, forming new alliances, spending time with his (expanding) family all while preparing for a war that could once again potentially kill half the Universe.
A lot of things were different this time around, a lot of things were changed, but the most important one? He wasn't alone anymore.

Tony Stark never came out as Iron Man. Instead, he’s set himself up as the Avengers’ primary benefactor, giving them a home, his money and his inventions, while masquerading as his own mysterious bodyguard: Iron Man. Tony does his best to keep the rest of Avengers at arm’s length, though Steve constantly challenges his resolve.
After the events of CA:WS, Steve asks Tony to fund an expedition to find Bucky, and for Iron Man to be on the team. Once they bring him to the tower, Tony tries to keep his distance as Bucky regains his memories & the Brooklyn Boys rebuild their relationship.
Much to his dismay, neither Steve nor Bucky are interested in giving him that option. Featuring lots of Tony Stark angst, stories from pre-war Brooklyn, and a love-square-turned-triad.

Helana was much too busy to be a good enough wife to keep her husband in their bed, much too busy to be a good enough mother to see how isolated Tony was because Marcus wasn’t there unless she was there to convince her he was a good father, much too busy to be a good enough friend that she noticed when Obi started plotting her murder.
Busy, busy, busy. Right up until she died. Then she has nothing to do.
Nothing to do but watch her baby grow up and regret it.
When Tony dies and the battlefield is left covered in dust the very stones who killed her baby offer her the chance to go back, to fix her wrongs and 'make the world a better place'. She says no, and apparently, that is what they'd been waiting for.
