Prince Bakugo Katsuki is now eligible to marry and can now begin The Selection. Every person between the ages eighteen and twenty is has been given a letter that they can choose to put into a lottery. If their name is picked, they are officially a part of the competition for Prince Bakugo's hand.
If Izuku enters this competition, he knows he can help his family survive. He tells himself that if he sticks it out for long enough, he can earn enough money to make sure they never have to live in a tiny houses while working multiple jobs to keep afloat. Once he accomplishes his goal, he can politely ask the prince to leave or do something unlikable and get eliminated.
