“You hailed from Eastpool?” Jote asks with a heightened impression. “So have I, before the Undying took me in.”
Oscar Murdoch smirks. “If the theory of red strings connecting souls is to be true, then I believe that you and I have always been destined to meet in more ways than one.”
“I can damn well attest to that.” Jote does not apologize for the discourtesy in her tongue.

As their reunited bond strengthens in the Hideaway, Joshua realizes that the woman he pushed away, is now pulled by another man. He is supposed to be happy about Jote pursuing other ventures, as he dreamed for her. But, why does Joshua feel he is being severely punished for removing her chains? -

"Speak, Clive," Joshua ordered, his voice a smooth caress upon the skin. The bound man sighed as if pleased to be addressed and Asta shivered. That's right...Cid's real name. She had almost forgotten it existed. "Tell me, is this enough? Do you think this enough to atone?"

The captive shook his head violently and labored to breathe. Still, he found his words and replied brokenly, “Not until you are happy.”
