They’re deep in the ever night beyond Okhema when Mydei notices the subtle change in Phainon’s scent. Phainon has always smelled pleasant enough, aside from the disgusting musk that comes with him being another alpha, but now that musk is more pungent and the other notes more subdued.
“Deliverer,” Mydei says. Growls, really. He’s already annoyed. Phainon should’ve done this math before they left, and now they’re both about to be horribly inconvenienced. “Why are you going into rut?”
When Phainon's ruined suppressants cause him to go into rut unexpectedly, Mydei helps him through it.

“By Nikador’s name,” Mydei said, slightly awed. He glanced towards their bedroom where Phainon was waiting for him, then turned back to the wrapped condom he had pulled out of the drawer. He glanced at the size again, just to be sure, and no, he had seen it right.
“Blessed by the Titans … Phainon is taking these things down like an absolute champ,” Mydei said, shaking his head slightly in disbelief. “What incredible strength.”
He ignored the faint feeling of dread that had begun to bury itself in the back of his throat, practically shaking him. He felt like he was missing something. Something important.
Or, Mydei naturally assumes he’s going to top during his and Phainon’s first time. Afterall, he’s the alpha and Phainon’s the beta. He’s just … slightly intimidated by the size Phainon is apparently used to taking. He doesn’t want to disappoint, that’s all.

Like the downfall of many civilizations, traitors within the royal inner circles poison the minds of kings and queens. Castrum Kremnos was no exception. It has steadily declined over the years. King Eurypon's madness has pushed the kingdom to the brink of collapse, and the ongoing armed conflict with the Ohkeman Kingdom was accelerating their destruction.
In desperation, the mighty kingdom called for an armistice—not merely a ceasefire, but a resolution to end the conflict altogether. They proposed an alliance between their kingdoms. News of this spread throughout Amphoreus overnight. Two of the strongest kingdoms were forming an alliance that would significantly alter the course of history. An agreement of blood needed to be established between the two kingdoms. Castrum Kremnos was required to offer up a bride from their royal family to be married to another royal family member in Ohkema.
Phainon, a collateral member of the royal family adopted from the fallen Aedes Elysiae territory, was tasked with selecting the bride. His choice shocked the entire world: he chose not from the offered brides but instead pointed to Mydeimos, the crown prince of Castrum Kremnos.

Perhaps, twenty minutes, twenty-five minutes at the most, before he was woken again by Mydei’s voice, startling him awake. Blearily, Phainon woke again, peering through the curtain of white hair that had fallen into his eyes, to see Mydei’s headset on again as he boredly talked about whatever culinary affairs required administrative input. Phainon could feel the tension in Mydei’s body as he sighed, the stress surmounting in the way his temple partially protruded, and his muscles flexed beneath Phainon’s hand. Clearly, whoever was on the other end was a pain to deal with, and so, Phainon, with the thoughts only mischievous and bratty omegas could have, began to form a plan.
Mydei is feeling tense at work. Phainon helps him relax.

Phainon, Deliverer of the Flame Chase, Bearer of the Prophecy (and other fun titles), is a lonely alpha who wasn't able to meet his match until a certain Kremnoan dueled him for ten days and ten nights. It's fantastic, honestly, for Phainon to have a man he can call his equal, but here's the catch-
All people born in Castrum Kremnos have the mildest pheromones in Amphoreus and seem incapable of smelling any pheromones at all. As an alpha from Aedes Elysiae, where people interacted more through than anything else, Phainon has no idea how he's supposed to court the Kremnoan's beloved prince.

Phainon shifts uncomfortably, feeling exposed, though it had nothing to do with his half-naked state. “So, tell me the truth, Phainon. Did you feel neglected? Unwanted?”
