Summary
I am Robert vanZand, a descendant of Mikael vanZand, once a professor of history at a university on Earth. These memoirs were written by my ancestor many eons ago and hidden in a secret archive. He set down the record of his adventures, world by world, body by body, lust entwined with power and history. Here, at last, I have found the medium to share them with his beloved Earth, in the hope that his former family, friends, and colleagues at the University may recognise him and help me to reconstruct his early life on Earth.
The manuscripts are old, written on worn parchments and preserved only in fragments. Forgive me if I present these stories out of order, for I can only give them as I finish translating them into the English of your times.
