Summary
The apocalypse is over and all the Avatars (with a few exceptions) hate Jon as the Eye Avatar who ended it and killed a bunch of them during the apocalypse. Unfortunately for Jon, all the Avatars who he killed during the apocalypse came back with its end and most of them are very grumpy. He's also the only Avatar to not retain his powers in this post-apocalyptic world.
And of course, Avatars are also on the run from a humanity who wants them dead so they flee underground - literally.
Annabelle Cane uses her Web powers of persuasion to keep the others from killing Jon, instead keeping him as her personal pet puppet. After all, she's taken a fondness to the man after all the manipulation from the past several years and doesn't want to see him dead. However she's not exactly one for seeing other people as people. Martin joins the Web in order to join her in taking care of Jon.

One wrong turn of phrase is what it takes, he was trying to mock him of course, but ended up throwing a backhanded insult at Martin. That was what tilted the scales he supposed. Martin was already ticked off, Peter is vaguely aware Elias did something to him before, about his mother. The man mentioned it to Peter as one of Martin’s selling points, having mommy issues and abandonment issues due to his dad.
He supposes his words snap something in Martin.
Its so quick, an instant really, Martin’s hand on the knife tightness rather than releasing it. Peter sees his eyes narrow and for a moment everything is still, then his brain catches up with what's going to happen and that's when Peter knows he won.
Its a rush but at the same time it feels like it all happens in slow motion. He will win and Elias will die and everything will fall into his hands, he will be truly, genuinely alone for the rest of his life. -
