Summary
This story is based on an Arabian Nights tale called "Abu Muhammad the Sluggard". When I read that story, I was amazed by how many similarities it had to Aladdin - both the original tale and the Disney movie. When I saw the hero actually had a monkey companion, I just knew I had to write an Aladdin version!
Aladdin lives in a poor hovel with his mother, and their struggles are not helped by the latter wanting Aladdin to become a tailor and work for a living when all he wants to do is get inside the royal palace. But when Aladdin receives a pet monkey named Abu, everything changes for him. Suddenly he is so successful he is attracting attention from the palace itself - but the Royal Vizier Jafar may have his own plans for Aladdin.... -

Summary
Based on the Aladdin TV series episode "Sandswitched", in which the antagonist Sadira casts a spell to switch places with Jasmine, this version explores plot threads the TV show didn't, such as, what if Jasmine's memory was not affected by Sadira's spell and she knew the whole time who she really was? And here we actually get to see Aladdin and Sadira together enough to prove they're incompatible. And Aladdin gets more than one second looking at Jasmine to convince him he'd rather be with her. And Sadira isn't treated like her actions were harmless and didn't deserve any consequences.
Sadira is still obsessed with winning Aladdin for herself, so after her first attempt fails, the crafty Sand Witch casts a spell to make everyone in Agrabah remember her as the Princess and Jasmine as a street mouse. But right away Aladdin can sense something is off with his erstwhile beloved wife, and meanwhile Jasmine is determined to do whatever it takes to get back home to her old life and her husband. But Sadira isn't willing to let her scheme fail so easily....

Aladdin is perfectly happy in his new life as Prince of Agrabah, but his old friend from the streets, Sadira, refuses to see it. She sneaks into the palace one night and kidnaps Jasmine, hoping that with Aladdin's wife out of the way he will fall for her instead. But that's nothing compared to the shock of when Aladdin goes off to rescue Jasmine, and discovers the leader of the gang Sadira sold her to is - his long-lost father.
Determined to get back some of the past he has never known, Aladdin follows his father and the gang on an unknown mission, pursued by Jasmine who is determined to bring her husband back where he belongs. But if Aladdin doesn't see the truth about his father soon, he may end up finding his past - at the expense of his present and future.I've already used archive warnings, but just to be more specific, this story contains:
