Summary
“What are you reading?” Stannis asks as he sits himself next to his young daughter, Shireen looks at him as she shifts closer to him.
“The Dance of Dragons,” she answers.
“What's it about?” Stannis presses on.
“It's the story about the fight between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her uncle Daemon for control over the Seven Kingdoms. Both of them thought they belonged on the Iron Throne. When people started declaring for one of them or the other, their fight divided the kingdoms in two. Brothers fought brothers, dragons fought dragons. By the time it was over, thousands were dead.”
“The Dance of Dragons, why is it called a dance?” Stannis asks.
“It's just what they call it.”
“That makes sense,” Stannis mutters darkly.
Shireen paused as she turned back to her father, “I think it's poetic.”
In other words, what if the Dance happened between Daemon and Rhaenyra?
