Around twelve months ago, Wanda had escaped the funeral of the man who’d killed her parents to have her last conversation with Clint Barton. Their discussion had varied: his new patio, her new jacket, the crushing grief and the fleeting regrets. Clint had made her promise on something that mattered (she said Natasha’s grave; they both had) that they would support each other, no matter what happened next. Wanda had shaken his hand, and as the world tumbled down, she realized that was the last time someone had touched her with love.
