Jason's first thought is that it’s beautiful. Golden stalks of wheat sway in the wind, sweet smelling flowers fluttering past like butterfly wings gone awry. The sky arches upwards, an impossible shade of blue, and clouds drift idly by, curling at the edges like cream. Beyond the endless plains, an ocean laps at the white stone beach, its gentle, foam-capped waves leaving behind shells like treasures in the sand. Spirits mill about, their different translucent shades smudging together in his vision until they all look like splotches of some vague watercolor painting.
And yet Leo, who he’s sure would have been a bright orange against these pastels, is not there.
