Chapter Text
He’s been in and out staying at the domain. It’s nice, Mipha has been nice. As far as the domain knows, they just think he’s another friend, acquaintance maybe.
Currently, he’s sitting at the desk in Mipha’s bed chambers writing in his journal, wearing some casual clothes instead of his usual Sheikah armor. He’s been doing that since he left his position of hero. He’s also been keeping most of his things there too so he doesn’t have to carry it around all the time or hide it somewhere just to have to go back to it after he’s done with what he’s doing.
More specifically, he leaves the master sword there. Although, he never leaves out in the open. He would hide it under her water bed or off behind something.
He is also not left in the dark about anything going on inside the castle either. When Mipha comes back from being with the other champions and princess she tells him about her day and what happened. And in exchange he does the same but his days are more full of what he saw, what he found, and things that he found in the wild in general.
He’s always loved the wild.
But of course it’s not like he can go wondering into towns or villages and such. He still needs to keep a low profile and it’s not like sheikan’s are likes very much. He’s always wondered if that’ll change.
He was so lost in thought, writing in his journal, he hadn’t heard Mipha’s arrival.
“Link?” She said as she made it to his side. Link jumped a bit and turned to look at her. His round shocked eyes slowly relaxing.
“Sorry, I didn’t hear you approach.” Link signed to her.
She smiled gently at him, taking a hold of his hands, “Please, don’t apologize for something like that. It brings me relief and happiness that you find it safe enough here for you to relax that much..” She squeezed his hands before picking back up on her talking. “It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen you let loose that much.”
Link had a small smile on his face. The smile being more noticeable now; now that he’s been free to be himself.
Mipha let go of his hands before leaning down to hug him. He hugged her back, not with as equal strength as she was hugging him, but it was progress. Both of them have known each other since childhood. And seeing how much Link changed after pulling the sword that seals darkness, everything about him changed.
He went from a bright, but shy, happy kid to a kid who wasn’t aloud to make even a twinge of expression and opinions and making sure he stays in line, following rules and orders.
Standing back up, Mipha gave him a questioning smile, as if she wasn’t sure she should say what she wanted to. She did anyways though. “Link.. As much as I love you, there has to be more people than just me, Impa, and Purah that you trust. Is there truly no one else you care to inform that can help?”
He looked down at his hands in his lap for a second before responding, “The only other people that know are the great fairies and maybe all of korok forest.”
Mipha nodded, “Speaking of fairies, where’s Evi?”
Link let out a huff that sounded a lot like a laugh as he moved his hand to a bundled up cloth on the desk. He lifted up an edge of the cloth only to reveal a sleeping fairy beneath.
Gently, he put the lifted edge down. “Back on topic, are you implying that I tell someone else of my whereabouts?” Link looked unsure about this. He really didn’t know who else he could trust. Unless there really was someone else he could put his hard earned trust in?
“In my eyes, yes. I will understand if you don’t want to tell this person, I mean you never really got along but, that’s just his personality really. He’s really did care though when he heard of your disappearance and the reason why..” Mipha rambled on. Link had to think for a moment who she could be talking about. When she mentioned that this he that he never got along with, his mind went right to Revali.
”Are you saying I should tell Revali?” Link held a confused expression on his face.
“In one way or another, I do think so, but like I said you don’t have to I completely understand if you don’t want to. But after that day, he expressed his concerns to me and worry about you.” Mipha saying that shocked Link. Revali caring about him? Wow. “He may be rough around the edges but he can be a nice guy. He’s just bad at showing it.”
Link didn’t know what to say. This was a bit to much to take in. Revali has always been an asshole to him, but he supposes he’s like that with everyone. But hearing these things Revali is willing to do, is almost to hard to believe.
“Let.. Let me think about it, I’ll get back to you with an answer.”
Mipha smiled again, “Okay, I have to leave for a council meeting now. I’ll see you later.” She hugged him again before making her leave.
Revali wanting to help Link and make sure he’s okay. What a turn of events.
Time had passed and Link has made his decision. But it wasn’t going to be straight forward.
Link had gotten more info out of Mipha about Revali. About how he’s taking this situation with the hero missing and all and how he’s doing.
This apparently took a bigger impact on Revali than Link had realized. The Rito truly did care for Link and didn’t like the fact he was so blind to what was going on, that he never noticed the pain and struggle Link was going through.
Even though no one noticed. He still blames himself.
Link was back in his Sheikah attire sitting on the cliff edge of Shatterback Point, looking down at his view. He had told Mipha it was okay to tell him but he wanted to do it himself. So, she offered to send a letter to the fellow champion to invite him for lunch the following day.
It was late already and he should return back to the domain palace. Unfortunately, his nerves won’t settle. It’s been so long since he’s been able to experience so many emotions at once, it starts to become overwhelming.
Now though, he doesn’t have to hide that. He has people he can go to and can do whatever he wants to settle down. So he decided to lay back and closes his eyes.
“Link, you can’t fall asleep here.” Link heard a voice say. Startled, he opens his eyes quickly, only to be met with a fairy flying above him.
‘Ah, right, Evi was here with him. The fairy that was a gift from Cotera to ensure safety in his travels.’ He thought to himself.
To lazy to sign, Link spoke in his hoarse voice, “Not sleeping, just thinking a bit.”
That got an exaggerated sigh from the fairy. She sat on his chest and stared at him as he went back to resting his eyes.
He doesn’t even get a few seconds into his “nap” before he feels a lump of grass thrown at his face. “I said no sleeping! Go back to the domain or else. I promised I look after you and be a great friend. And that’s what I’ll be doing” She glared at him.
Link wiped the grass off his face and rolled his eyes. He got up, stretching and looked over at Evi. ”Fine. I’ll go back, jeez..”
Evi gave him a smug smile and flew over to him and sat on his shoulder. He walked them back to the domain to get some sleep.
At least Evi got sleep. Link’s mind was haunted by never ending thoughts about tomorrow.
