Chapter Text
"You what?"
She was flabbergasted, the pale hand of her girlfriend that was absently running trough her hair has stopped, letting know that Divina was in shock too. The couple sat motionless in front of their friend who started to squirm under their scrutiny but ultimately stayed silent.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Yoko frowned, Divina was now looking at her concerned and she felt her hand slide into hers. It was not a regular thing for Yoko to be mad, much less with Enid, it seemed the vampire had a soft spot for the werewolf.
"Yoko i think-" Divina started, but Yoko was hurt.
"No, i want to hear why. I though we were best friends" she huffed.
"Just, calm down a second, im sure there is a reason."
"Well i want to hear it"
They both turned to the other side of the table to see the blonde just watching them bickering silently, before tensing up once again when she noticed their looks.
"Okay, i can explain..."
"The do so" she gritted out.
Enid sighed, apparently knowing that there was no scaping this, she reached out to let her phone over the table before thinking where to start.
"So... It was nothing serious at first, im kind of ashamed about that"
"What do you mean?" Divina said looking confused.
"Well, remember the day you both ditched the group to go on a date?" at their nods Enid continued, "After being locked in Ajax's appartment we went to the park the one with the big trees and the duck fountain and we had just ate a huge ice cream cause Xavier had burned his mouth with the take-out and—"
"Enid, concentrate"
"Oh yeah! so, we were playing truth or dare and bianca gave me this nasty dare where i had to ask out someone from the park. At first i asked her out because i though she would say no, but somehow she said yes and so yeah, we kinda ended up dating after that." Enid smiled bashfuly at her friends while Yoko was mentaly hitting her head in the table.
Yoko groaned because what Enid recountered told her almost nothing, besides her, her girlfriend was deep in thought, "Wait, wasn't that like three months ago?"
Enid sucked at her teeth "No?" avoiding the couple's eyes.
"Oh my god"
"Okay yeah, i fucked up, i forgot to tell you. But you can't be mad at me, how many dates do you guys went before telling me?"
At that the couple turned their heads away. "That's what i thought"
Yoko was struggling, yes she hadn't told Enid either when she started going out with Divina, but Enid knew that Yoko had a massive crush in the siren, she was gonna tell her, but Enid had caught them kissing after one of their dates and she had to do a lot of explaining.
The tension cleared up, they were even and calmly went back to sipping on their beverage, oblivious to the looks they had gathered from the coffee shop because of their drama.
"So..." Divina started again, this time there was a soft smile on her lips, presumably excited about the gossip. "How come we haven't meet her?"
Now this, Yoko was interesed. She needed to know if this mistery person was enough for her pup. "Well, she likes her space. She's not really a people person i guess." The soft tone in her voice made it clear that Enid didn't had a problem with it, even though they both knew the blonde was one of the most extrovert people in earth.
Yoko snorted, "So u ended up adopting an introvert?" she felt her girlfriend's elbow dig into her ribs, followed by a frown. The vampire relented, "Can you tell us about her, how did you guys actually meet?" genuin curiousity filtering in her voice.
Enid beamed at her, and threw herself into a full-out rant about her apparent girlfriend.
Enid's face was red as she raced down the street, it was no the usual run she always did to get to work early, but a run that said 'i have too much sugar in my blood and i don't know what to do' her arms were flapping at her sides as if she would take fly and she was wheezing.
She was welcomed by the cute branch arcs of the park as she almost dropped herself over the sidewalk, it was not until thirty second later that an out-of-breath Kent tripped over himself before her, his hand was reaching out to the entrance.
"I.... won..." Kent said, and Enid swears she almost get wiplash at how fast she turned her head.
"No way!"
"Well, i am on the line"
She sputtered as the other part of their group arrived.
"I call bs, i got here first" Enid turned around to look at Bianca who at this point was watching them with a bemused face, "Tell him!" She squealed.
The siren as insufferable as always looked at the floor where Enid was laying, just two feet away from the line of the entrance of the park, "Sorry babe, you did said 'The first to enter the park wins' And technically, you are not in the park" behind her Ajax snorted as Xavier almost chockes with the ice cream he was holding against hi mouth.
Enid, with no really annoyance about the whole thing only grumbles before getting up, following her friends into the park, no one says nothing when Kent stays in the ground. They did come back for him later tho, he was already asleep and Ajax had to drag him across the pavement, ignoring the weird looks he recieved from passersby, it was only fair.
The day was starting to become a night so the place was mostly alone, not counting the stoners at the far end of the trees, they laughed and joked. At some point Ajax had chucked Xavier into the pond. Now they sat lazzily at one of the pinic tables around, playing a game of truth or dare, (Dare most often than not cause no one really wanted to stand up) so Enid was getting a bit bored.
Her energy reserves were already full again, her body almost buzzing in place, so when Biancas asked her 'Truth or Dare' she probably should've stayed silent. But... she didn't.
"Fuck it" Enid murmured, Kent who was almost passed out in the grass opened his eyes to lood around, "Dare, i choose dare"
Maybe it was the cold weather, or the devil-ish smile that sprouted in Bianca's face, but a shiver ran down her back.
"You...." The siren said, looking around the park for a good enough dare. Her blue eyes sweeped around and her brows creased, until they stopped right over Enid's shoulder, "You have to ask one of these strangers out" the girl said as she motioned all around.
"That's fucked up" murmured Ajax from his side of the table, but did nothing more.
"Yeah, im not doing that" Enid crossed her arms, "its not funny to play with someone's feelings"
"Its not like they would say yes, if someone approached me in this really creepy place i would say no, no matter how good they look"
"Ah, so you just want someone to think im creepy"
"Isn't that the sense of the game? Doing embarrasing things? Its not like you'll ever see them again" Bianca huffed "But if you're a chincken, then there is nothing to do" she shrugged, "Let go home already" She made to get up but was stopped by Enid slamming her hand in the table.
Xavier snickered behind his arm, Bianca had succesfuly gotten under Enid's skin.
As the blond stood up with a determined face, Ajax extended his arm to her, "You don't have to do it bro, just ignore her." He said, "I think she's still salty about, Xavier getting someone before her" he supplied with a cheeky smile.
The frown in Enid's face softened at that, "Its okay, i can take a rejection. Plus i think that'll make her feel better" Ajax laughed and dropped his grip in her hand before shouting after her a 'You can do it, tiger', Kent was gaping at her from the floor, still half dead.
Now a bit far away from her friends, she stopped a looked around, the stoner's from early were already passed out at their table and she almost cringed from thinking of asking one of the out, she looked around again and noticed a few guys going on a midnight run, Enid didn't wanted to bother them, then her eyes settled in one of the few trees besides one of the lamps.
A solitary girl was standing underneath the stars, black hair in twin braids as dark as the sky above, her head softly looking up as if searching for something, pale skin that dissapeared under a black hoodie that appeared two or three sizes too big. Enid felt her breath hitch as her eyes roamed the almost perfect skin, then a subtle movement later both pairs of eyes meet.
Now, Enid had seen dark eyes, but those? she felt like looking into the void, as if the same light was being sucked into the abyss, and then the moment ended and the girl turned away.
Someone clearing their troath behind her made Enid jump before catching Bianca smirking at her from behind, she shook her body trying to calm herself before approaching. Now being realistic, the girl looked a bit like a crackhead, there were dark bags under her eyes and harp cheekbones, not a single speck of pink in her face.
It almost felt like she was dead to the world. Even with Enid's enhanced hearing, she could faintly hear the really slow heartbeat.
Enid stopped only two feet away, enough for her to flee if something happened, and close enough to be able to smell the earthy smell emanating from the girl, a mix of... dry leaves, recently dugged dirt and... blood.
That made her doubt, a rusty smell, like copper. And before she could actually ran, those eyes were now watching her again, impassive, indifferent, intense. As if she were looking right trough Enid.
The girl watched her silently, waiting for something. Enid didn't know what that was, until the girl tilted her head softly and Enid blushed. The girl was waiting for the seemingly stranger that had approached her to say something, and here Enid was, watching her like a creeper.
"H-hi!" her voice a few pitch higher than usual.
Coal braids swinged softly in the air as the girl turned to face Enid.
"Hello"
Her voice was raspy, like shes been days without drinking water.
"I-i was wondering if...."
"Yes?"
"Hmm" Enid's eyes falled down to her shoes in an anxious display and she swears she heard a scoff before the girl talked again.
"Look up, think before speaking, loud and clear. Out. with. it." her upper lip twitched in a somewhat snarl as she showed a too sharp teeths for a human.
Enid jumped out of her skin, her back ramrod straight and her eyes flew to hers.
"Would you like to go on a date?" her voice was.... too loud and Enid cringed, the spurt of confidence gone as she kept talking "with me, i mean. Like.... y'know" Enid screamed internally and almost missed what the girl said back.
"Wheatervane, tomorrow at eight."
Her eyes did not change, still the unwavering indefference as she turned to the side and with two fingers she whistled, "Wha-" Interrupting Enid a flapping noise was heard, coming closer and closer, until a fucking raven came out of the darkness and stood in the arm of the girl who had lifted it in a 180 angle.
The bird cawed at her, it's beady eyes eyeing her up and down in an uncanny human way. The girl looked at her one last time and her full lips twitched in what Enid could only guess a hint of a smile, before turning around and walking into the shadows of the trees and dissapearing of sight.
"What the actual fu-"
