    Might have been. I Must admit i rather dislike Stories that retell the original, sometimes even Word-for-Word, with the sorting Song and such.

      yeah i get that. i understand wanting to follow canon but rewriting the whole thing isn't very interesting

        I sometimes get the impression that i know certain Parts by Heart because some authors simple rewrite the Books with little deviations that don‘t actually change the Plot at all.

          to be fair to them it can be hard to change the plot too much, mainly because we rely a lot on the source material and also because some people really don't like it if we make too many changes and the comments can be pretty nasty. it makes it a little scary
          i do understand that if the author changes nothing it would be more interesting to simply read the source material.

          i usually remedy that by skipping over the plot points that don't diverge or writing them from a different pov, but that's my personal way of trying to balance it out
