Everything started when Shang Qinghua adopted a puppy.

With the recent success of his novel, Shang Qinghua finally had the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream: adopting a cute, fluffy little dog.

When he saw a tiny ball of fluff with huge black eyes that looked like two glossy jabuticabas, he couldn’t resist. The puppy looked exactly like the way he always pictured his protagonist.

And it was a Pomeranian! What was a purebred puppy doing in an adoption shelter? Shang Qinghua asked, but no one seemed willing to answer… Not that he was complaining. Lucky for him, right?

Said and done. The little dog was adopted and named Bingpup.

However, there was a problem. Bingpup hated everything and everyone.

“He was abused during the first few weeks of his life before we rescued him,” the woman had said. And even though he was only a few months old, the tiny pup seemed deeply traumatized. He growled at other dogs, was aggressive, bit people — including his own dad! (That is, Shang Qinghua. After all, that little dog was his son.)

Eventually, Shang Qinghua discovered that the adorable fluffball was the devil himself, after waking up in the middle of the night to find two enormous red eyes staring at him. Okay, maybe it had been a nightmare — but still, that didn’t change how weird that dog was, okay?

One day, at the park, Shang Qinghua was walking his puppy (mostly using the excuse to get some sunlight — it wasn’t healthy to stay inside all day, even if he preferred it) when he spotted a cat approaching.

Used to his puppy being aggressively territorial, he tightened the leash, not expecting the cat to calmly walk up and start licking Bingpup’s head as if grooming its own kitten. And the most impressive part: Bingpup’s tail was wagging like a helicopter.

Then, the most beautiful man Shang Qinghua had ever seen in his life appeared — tall, muscular, long-haired, and with an aura that screamed he could break Shang Qinghua in half — which, to be honest, Shang Qinghua would not mind at all.

The man said nothing, just watched. Shang Qinghua would later learn that he was a man of few words.

Still, Shang Qinghua struck up a conversation and found out the man lived nearby, learned a few of his interests, and that the cat’s name was Shen Nyan.

Their meetings at the park became frequent. Bingpup always woke Shang Qinghua up early to drag him out for a walk (by biting him hard — who did this little brat think he was?) to meet Shen Nyan. Shang Qinghua started feeling like the dog was his owner, not the other way around, since he always gave in to his whims. (Ok, in fact, Shang Qinghua was afraid of his own cute demoniac puppy.)

Bingpup really loved Shen Nyan — and Shang Qinghua had to admit, it was kind of adorable to see a tiny fluffy dog playing with a sleek, elegant, snow-white cat licking him as if he were one of his kittens.

Eventually, over the months, Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun (that REALLY gorgeous man) grew closer — Mobei Jun confiding about his complicated family life as the nephew of an insanely rich and manipulative CEO, while Shang Qinghua talked about the different flavors of instant noodles he’d tried that week. It didn’t take long for them to have their first date, first kiss, and then… other things — which made Bingpup very happy, since it meant he got to sleep over at Mobei Jun’s place with Shen Nyan in his cozy cat tree.

As Shang Qinghua’s relationship with Mobei Jun progressed, one day he received a call from his dream man.

Apparently, Shen Nyan had female organs, something Mobei Jun had never realized (how?!) — and not only that, Shen Nyan was pregnant. And, to make things worse, he (because Mobei Jun would still refer to him as a male, since Shen Nyan liked it) seemed a bit depressed.

The pregnancy was strange, since Mobei Jun never let Shen Nyan go out at night or wander off alone, so he had no idea how he could have gotten pregnant. Shang Qinghua joked that maybe Bingpup had done it — even though that was biologically impossible — and the next day he brought Bingpup over to visit his friend.

Welcomed with jumps and excitement, Mobei Jun watched Shen Nyan’s eyes light up as he cuddled Bingpup between his paws and licked him all over. Concluding that Shen Nyan saw Bingpup as his own kitten, the dog’s presence seemed vital to keep the soon-to-be mother calm and happy.

After that, the two humans realized it was impossible to separate their pets. Whenever apart, they both got moody and sad. Mobei Jun — a little shy and hesitant (so cute!) — asked Shang Qinghua to move in with him, at least until Shen Nyan gave birth. He was worried that negative emotions might affect his cat’s health.

Shang Qinghua wanted to laugh at the man’s nervousness. As if he’d ever refuse that offer!

Even after the kittens were born, Shang Qinghua stayed. It wouldn’t be wise to separate the two now, right? They’d be too sad… That was the excuse Mobei Jun used to officially invite Shang Qinghua to live with him permanently.

Shang Qinghua accepted without hesitation — hugging his little dog and covering him in kisses, thanking him for giving him this wonderful chance to meet the love of his life.

If Shang Qinghua sometimes caught Bingpup’s eyes glowing red, he didn’t mention it. And if Mobei Jun noticed the same thing once or twice, he didn’t say anything either. (Just as Shang Qinghua didn’t comment on the other odd things about his future husband! Like — how could someone have skin that cold? And Shang Qinghua was sure that some of the times Mobei Jun served him iced drinks, there hadn’t been any ice in the freezer!)

Shang Qinghua found himself looking at Shen Nyan’s litter: several adorable kittens nursing while the cat rested peacefully.

Wait a second! There was someone in the middle who wasn’t supposed to be there! An uninvited guest with fluffy fur and the cutest little eyes!

“Hey! Bingpup! Shen Nyan isn’t your mommy — you can’t drink his milk, that’s for the kittens! And aren’t you a little too big for that? OW! OW! Don’t bite me! Fine, fine, you can go back to nursing!”

Ah… Such cute little babies… Babies that… that strangely looked like Bingpup. Or like what Bingpup would look like if he were a cat… but…

That couldn’t be possible… right? …Right?

“Qinghua, I think I just saw Bingpup trying to fuck Shen Nyan.”

So, Shen Yuan simply turns into a vampire.

The year is 2025; Shen Yuan doesn’t really do much. After finishing his PhD at university and working from home occasionally on some university research, he doesn’t venture out into the world very often.

One night, while going home late after spending way too long in line to buy the brand-new Nintendo 2 on release day, Shen Yuan is attacked by a creature with red eyes and sharp fangs that bites him and drinks his blood.

Alright.

Shen Yuan thought he was going to die, but he didn’t expect to wake up hours later in that same alley as if nothing had happened and — oh! How nice! They hadn’t even stolen his Nintendo 2.

It took him a whole week to realize he was turning into a vampire. Don’t judge him, okay? His skin had already been pale from never going outside — which also made his poor little eyes sensitive to sunlight. Besides… okay, sometimes he got distracted playing games and forgot to eat, all right? The difference was that now he had forgotten to eat for an entire week.

And Shen Yuan was an absolute disaster at being a vampire!

He couldn’t talk to people without making them awkwardly invite him in — it was always, “Airplane, you have to invite me inside your house or I can’t come in!!!”; he wasn’t discreet at all when he forgot sunlight bothered him, and above all, he couldn’t hunt to save his life!

Shen Yuan wasn’t born to be a predator; he was born to be a hikikomori who spends all his salary and inheritance on gacha and merch from his favorite novels, okay?

Fortunately, he was rich, so part of his hunger was solved with:

“Airplane, if I pay your rent this month, will you let me drink a little of your blood?”

It was a great offer — one Airplane would never refuse — but there was still a limit to how much Shen Yuan could drink before Airplane just… dropped dead!

But everything was so hard! Shen Yuan couldn’t control his powers; everything felt too intense, his hunger was awful and painful.

Shen Yuan hated being a vampire!

Shen Yuan was starving and needed to hunt. But leaving his apartment to do that had become nearly impossible with the utter disaster that he was.

Shen Yuan’s list of acquaintances was limited to his family and Airplane, and he wasn’t going to bite his family, and if he kept biting his friend, he soon wouldn’t have a friend left to bite.

Besides that… Shen Yuan had a ridiculously handsome neighbor — who… okay, that wasn’t the point — who was always bringing girls (and guys!!!) into his apartment and being incredibly noisy about it. It was even weird how almost every time Shen Yuan decided to go out (which wasn’t often), his neighbor went out at the same time just to greet him, like he was watching him twenty-four hours a day — but that would be crazy, right?

Determined to try biting him, Shen Yuan invited his neighbor over to his apartment. Luo Binghe was polite and friendly; they talked for a bit, and when the moment came, Luo Binghe didn’t even react negatively to being bitten! What an obedient boy — so gentle and quiet while Shen Yuan filled his belly in the most delicious way possible. His blood was far tastier than Airplane’s, and Shen Yuan could easily get addicted!

When he finally felt satisfied, long minutes later, panic struck — what if he had killed the boy? But Luo Binghe just smiled at him.

“Yuan-gege is a vampire?!”

His eyes glowed crimson and… oh.

Shen Yuan’s neighbor was a demon.

It turns out Shen Yuan is really bad at being a vampire.

Fortunately, Luo Binghe is very good at being a demon.

Luo Binghe always remembered to close the curtains before dawn, came up with excuses for why Shen Yuan didn’t have fingerprints, even helped him create fake IDs when needed. He helped him hide from sunlight when he had to go out, ran errands during the day when Shen Yuan couldn’t, and sometimes even slept beside him when Shen Yuan’s cold body made him uncomfortable and he wanted a bit of warmth to enjoy.

He helped Shen Yuan better control his enhanced senses, giving him tips on how to handle the sharp hearing, the intense vision, and the overwhelming smells. He helped him learn to manage his strength (since Shen Yuan — who couldn’t even lift two dumbbells before — was now constantly breaking his keyboards and mice while playing League of Legends).

Above all, he even helped Shen Yuan masturbate by offering him his blood so that Shen Yuan's cock would get hard. What a helpful friend, right?

Luo Binghe hunted for him, and it was absolutely delightful when he arrived at his apartment with a new dinner for Shen Yuan.

Being a vampire was so easy!
