Chapter Text
He was gone.
That fact hurt more than she ever thought.
Sometimes she didn't know if she loved or hated him, but the fact that he was gone,
felt like a huge stone weighing down her heart.
That had to mean that she indeed did love him.
Not a romantic kind of love, no way! Even if she had never fallen in love before, she knew this was a different kind of love, even if she never quite figured out what kind it was.
Was it a love for someone who took care of her, in his own twisted kind of way?
Was it a love that someone felt towards their teacher, or was it more of a love that you felt for someone who was probably the closest thing to being a family, a parent?
Even now, she didn't know.
She only knew he was gone, forever, and nothing could change that.
This terrible reality felt even worse than all the punches she got from him while training; it felt worse than anything she felt to this day.
How often did she lay on the ground, gasping for air and wishing that he would just stop, but he was not someone who just simply looked at the begging eyes of a child and stop. He had his reasons, and maybe, yes maybe he could have done it another way, make her understand him more. But in his eyes, this was the best way, so she had to pull through it, whether she wanted to or not!
Stop it, please!
All the terrible things just make them stop!
The beating, the hate, the cold stares, which were often filled with hate and disgust. . . everything!
The nights that turned into mornings and the mornings that turned into way too long days.
Why did she need to go through all of this??
She didn't choose to be like this, she didn't choose to be hated and feared.
But that was again something she couldn't choose, she understood that all too well.
Every fiber of her body hurt. The skin, her muscles, her bones, and most of all her heart and soul.
Taking a deep, shaking breath, she felt the ropes, which tied her to the cross, cut deeper into her skin.
A huff escaped her dry lips. These people acted as if they were Christs.
Yet killed out of fear.
Not that she didn't understand, she did not blame them, most of them couldn't see what she saw, and the few who could never openly admitted it.
But she could tell who had a sense, she could see the fear in their eyes, the lingering stare, how shock made them stand still, even if for the shortest moment.
Still, at the end of the day, she was the monster, the possessed one, because she had a gift, or was it in fact a curse? She couldn't exactly pinpoint how she would call it.
“Maybe it's best if I die….” the whisper of the young teen carried away in the wind.
“You three have a mission.” Instantly the attention of his three students was on him.
“Hah, that's gonna be easy for us!” grinned the white haired teen, which darkened glasses on, which made Yaga sigh. His students, especially Gojo Satoru, were sometimes too full of themselves. Not that he, as his teacher didn't know, that in fact this young boy would be, if he was not already, the strongest sorcerer.
But he still had to learn, especially how to behave with his peers.
“First listen, because this is very important,” he countered sternly and pulled out a letter, he got only a little while ago.
“Oh, did Sensei get a love letter?”Satoru asked in a mocking voice, while his dark-haired classmate had a hint of a smile on his face.
“Satoru, let Yaga-sensei explain, even he wouldn't do that.”
Taking a deep breath, Yaga looked blankly at the duo, which sometimes needed more patience than he ever thought any student would acquire.
“You just make it worse, you know?” the only girl in the group of three chirped in.
“Now, if you would listen.”Yaga started again after he cleared his throat.
“This is a letter from an ex-Jujutsu sorcerer, he left many years ago, but he entrusted this letter to be brought here if the worst case should happen.”
“Which would be?” asked the black haired student, now a bit more serious, since Yaga seemed a bit tense.
“In case he died, he requests that a girl he took care of should be rescued.”
“So it´s just a rescue mission? That's easy!”
“In a way, it is, that's why I give you three the mission. The girl was left at that village when she was still a baby. But she seems to be highly gifted, which is bad, because the villagers aren't exactly open-minded. He wrote that he had trained her since she was little, and if he died, that he probably was killed somehow, and the next one would be her.” he glanced at the letter. “Also, he anticipated that a lot of curses are gonna manifest because of the fear and hate of the villagers and maybe even because of the girl herself, if she finds out how he died.”
“So we have to protect the people there, but also the girl?”Geto asked. “How is the girl's name?”
“He didn't put it in the letter, maybe he wanted to make sure that no one knows about her till the worst case. . I don't know, he was always a bit... different. But he wouldn't joke around with stuff like this. The girl, from his writing, is probably on your level.” he looked at the two boys, which made even the light-haired boy look up interested and grin.
“Well then! We should get going, shouldn't we??” he stood up and stretched.
“I'm sending you with those two, since the girl is a bit younger than you all. Depending on what is going on, she may need someone. .well, who isn´t any of those two.” he told Shoko, while ignoring the complaints from the two boys, and she just shrugged her shoulders.
“As long as they cover the fights, I'm fine,” she grinned a bit, before following her classmates to the location of the mission.
“. . what the...-”
“This is crazy.” Even Shoko, who usually was quite nonchalant, looked shocked.
They expected a lot, especially after Yaga told them this girl would most probably be ranked as a special grade, but none of the three students expected this scenario in front of them. They came to rescue both the village and the girl, but what they found was absolute chaos.
From crying kids and adults, to desperate shouting, blood, and even fire. It looked almost like a war zone.
In the middle of it, a small figure, who gave off a mixture of cursed energy but also positive energy at the same time.
Maybe, just maybe, if they had arrived sooner, this tragedy could have been stopped, but this storm brewed long enough to make this kind of a mess.
A mess of curses, humans, and a girl who tried her best to protect, even the ones who wanted her death.
Just a while before the sorcerers arrived, the worst of things started to happen.
The negativity of the villagers, the hate and fear they collected in their hearts, the shame of those who felt sorry for the girl, but feared to get in between, and the sadness of the girl, for the loss she experienced, not just manifested curses but also lurked in already existing ones, that wanted to feast on the emotions and people.
For people without having the sense and ability to see curses, it just started to get dark, like a storm rolling its way up.
But the young teen instantly shivered, not from the cold but from the feeling these creatures gave off.
Like an ice-cold hand, this sensation stroked from her neck down across her back.
“You need to let me go!” she started to shout, a mix of a plea and also a command.
“How dare you to even open your mouth, you fil...-”
“NO you do not understand! If you don´t free me, you all will die!”
But instead of understanding, the man who was one of the elders started to get red-faced, full of anger.
Shaking his fist in the air, while spitting on the ground.
“You spawn of the evil! You will soon die, and we will be free of your evil doings!”
Before she could try to keep arguing with him, the first terrified cries could be heard.
“Monsters, there are monsters!” shouted some that could see them, even ones that couldn't see them till now, which meant they were close to death.
While others just stared at them, they couldn't see anything, but they clearly felt uneasy, petrified even, while a horror show started to play, right in front of their own eyes. People getting torn apart, shredded from something invisible to them.
Lifeless bodies falling to the ground or flying into the air, making the ones that were still alive try to run for their lives, but how do you escape something that you can just barely feel but not see? How do you escape your death if you don´t know what is chasing you?
“No….no no no!” she repeated over and over again, looking with wide eyes. She couldn't look away, while she saw how the curses had their fun.
Some were low-class and just sucked energy out of the people, made them feel sick and very tired. But also, some of those curses were enjoying playing with their prey.
“Stop it! Come here! Let me free! Don´t kill all these people!” she shouted into deaf ears.
Without realizing it, a few strands of her dark hair started to lose their pigmentation, slowly turning white as fresh snow.
She stared in horror as she saw two kids run for their lives. She felt the pain, but dull as if she wasn't in her body anymore.
But that didn't matter, she knew her bleeding wrists would heal.
The only thing that did matter was protecting the innocent souls!
So she fought, with everything she had learned from her master and everything she got. She wouldn't just watch, she had time to die another time!
Concentrating on protecting the ones she could, she didn't realize that she was close to her limits. She overused her ability, which her master always warned her to avoid.
But all this cursed energy around her was way too much, if she didn't constantly heal herself, she would have probably already run hot.
Or maybe she already did, she couldn't tell either way, especially not since adrenaline pumped through her veins at full speed.
“Let us take over from here on out,” she heard a voice that wasn't familiar, which made her whip around and attack out of impulse, but her attack was repelled.
“Slow down, we´re here to help you,” the white haired guy, whom she needed to look up to, announced in a tone that made her grimace.
“Who the hell are you?” she sneered, and wanted to run to the next curse, but now the dark-haired guy, who had similar dark attire to the white haired one, stopped her.
“We are from Jujutsu High, you did …. a lot, let us take over now, your body seems at its limit,” he said matter-of-factly, since her whole body felt hot but also started to shake, looking like she would collapse at any moment.
“. . Jujutsu High…?”she asked. It sounded so familiar. Didn't her Sensei talk about that place? Were these people really here to help her?
“. . help them..please.” she mustered to say, while her body, knowing that help was here, collapsed right after muttering that request.
“I have her.”Geto pulled the small body of the girl into his arms and looked shocked. She felt as if she was burning. Hopefully, Shoko could help her somehow, because he couldn't see any visible wounds.
“I get her to Shoko, be right back!” he told his best friend, while using one of his cursed spirits, which he could control, and flew to the third one in the group, who waited on the sideline out of the reach of battle.
While Gojo started to take care of the remains of the curses, he remarked that it must have had to be a lot of them, for it to be so chaotic here.
Did that girl really take out so many on her own?
Seems she truly was a special grade after all!
A heaviness lay on her body, as if something heavy was put on it and pushing her down. She was awake, but not really, almost floating in between being conscious and unconscious, while the heavy feeling kept pushing her and keeping her down.
She didn't know how much time passed, it could have been minutes, even seconds, or maybe it was hours or days?
But she felt a new sensation, she in fact, was surrounded by something, something cold and wet, and while it felt strangely good, it also started to wake her senses.
With heavy lids, she looked around her and spotted a girl who was maybe only a bit older than herself. Were they in a bathroom??
Wait! How did she get into a bathroom?!
As she instantly sat up, the world started to spin.
“Oh, you are awake,” she heard the girl say, while she sounded almost a bit relieved, before she heard footsteps and a door opening.
“She´s awake,” she stated, quite relaxed.
Opening her eyes again, the girl looked irritated at the group of people, which consisted of the white haired guy, the one with the dark hair in a bun, and a man she didn't see before, but who was probably the only grown-up in the bathroom now.
Bathroom…
With widened eyes, she instantly looked down at herself and sighed.
Okay, she was wearing clothes, but that didn't mean she trusted these strangers.
“How are you feeling?” the man asked her, while she looked up at him, her eyes reminded him of those of a cat. Curious but also having that stare as if to calculate if she could trust him or if she was better running off.
“I know this must be very confusing to you.”
“. . what happened to the villagers?” she asked in a hoarse voice.
“We could rescue the ones you protected,” said the one with the bun and the single hair strand hanging in front of his face, and cut off the white haired guy before he could say anything.
Eyeing the group, she nodded after a while and looked back at the grown-ups, who seemed to give her some time to think or to handle the situation??
“I'm Yaga Masamichi. Those three are Ieri Shoko, Gojo Satoru, and Geto Suguru,” pointing at each one while introducing them.
“We got a letter from your Sensei, but sadly, he didn't write your name in it. Would you like to tell us?” he asked in a kind voice.
“. . Sensei did???” she murmured and nodded after a while. “. . Yamato Mirai”
“I see,” he nodded and looked over the girl, who started to shiver. “It seems you finally cooled down. Shoko will give you some clothes and then we will talk while having something to eat,” he suggested.
“. . . can...I see the letter?”Mirai asked timidly, as if asking her could end badly.
But if the villagers wanted to kill her, maybe that was what she was used to.
“Of course, as soon as you are dry,” he pulled the boys with him and left her with Shoko, who handed her a towel.
“Don´t worry, they are strange, but not exactly bad people,” a sheepish grin spread on her face. “I already put the clothes there. I´ll wait outside,” she pointed to the dresser, which had some folded clothes, before she left the bathroom.
Still a bit wobbly on her legs and also unsure how she should react to this situation and this place, she started to peel off her wet clothes so she could dry herself.
She felt numb. Was this even real?? Did she die?? No, probably not.
With furrowed eyebrows, she looked into the mirror above the sink and blinked once, then twice, and one more time.
Shocked, she ran a hand through the white hair strands that hung on the left side of her face. When did this happen?! How did her dark hair turn white?
Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself. At least it wasn't all of her hair, but still quite a portion of it.
Staring at the reflection, she pursed her lips before a breathless laugh escaped them.
“I look like I died my hair...” A bittersweet smile crept up on her lips before she looked down at her wrists.
All healed. This was truly a curse and a blessing at the same time, wasn't it?
When she walked out of the bathroom, Shoko, who was waiting for her, looked up and smiled softly. “Come, the others are waiting.”
Nodding Mirai followed silently and tried to take in the place she was in.
It didn't exactly look off or dangerous. It almost seemed like... a nice home?
That thought made her feel strange. Yet her Sensei never exactly talked badly about Jujutsu High, and if he really wrote a letter to them, then he had to trust them.
Something that even she knew, he didn't give a lot of people.
When they passed the corner, a delicious smell filled her nose.
Gosh, when was the last time she ate something? Probably a good few days ago, since they hoped she would starve to death before they had to kill her.
Surprised, the four sorcerers looked at her when her stomach made a loud grumbling noise, sounding almost like a growling bear.
Biting down on her lower lip, she avoided their gazes before she felt how she was instantly pushed to the table and onto a chair, while she heard stuff being moved.
“Here, eat as much as you like,” she looked up at Yaga, who had placed a full bowl of rice in front of her and pushed the side dishes closer to her.
For a second, she hesitated. Was this really fine?
But having endured all the hunger from the last days and that fight with the curses, she clutched the bowl in both hands and started to shovel the food down, as if she had never eaten in her life before.
“. . when was the last time you had anything to eat???”Geto asked her, shocked.
While chewing her food, she hummed thoughtfully.
“...depending on today's date….at least for three or four days. Not that I got much before that...” she mumbled and continued to eat.
When she said that with a nonchalant tone, it dawned on all of them that the people in that village really wanted to kill this girl.
“Why did you still protect them? Didn't seem like they were that friendly with you.”Gojo was a bit irritated and stirred his food before eating it too.
“You know that's our work Satoru...”
“But she isn't a sorcerer yet, or is she?” countered the white haired boy. “They lite...”
“They were afraid,” she mumbled to his and everyone else´s surprise.
“I couldn't just stay there and let them be killed... even dead, my Sensei would have cursed me, and probably I would have cursed myself with it too.”
Looking up as Yaga reached out to her with two letters in his hand.
“The open one was for us at Jujutsu High, the other one is sealed and addressed to 'the girl. ' I will give you a room and you can read it later there, when you are ready for it.” he explained to her, when he saw her wondering gaze.
Shaking hands reached for the letters, while she quickly scanned the first one.
With a sigh, she put the letter back into its envelope.
She already knew he was dead, she knew it, but reading this letter was like making it all so much more real.
Looking at her empty bowl, her appetite, which she just had for a second serving, was gone. How could she eat, while the only person who was at least similar to a parent wasn't here anymore? Dead, because of her.
“Thank you for the meal,” she mumbled with tired eyes. While her body was that of a young girl that turned into her teens, her eyes at the moment seemed old.
Like she had seen the worst of the world and knowing what happened to her, she more than probably saw it.
“Come, I'll bring you to your room.” Yaga knew better than to push her to eat more or act as if everything was fine.
When they arrived at her room, he let her in, but didn't immediately leave.
“I know words won´t help, but from the letter, I could feel that you were important to him. Whatever happened, it was his choice to do so. None of this was your fault,” he told her with a soft and stern voice.
Hearing that, silent hot tears started to spill. Everything she held in, the tears and emotions she didn't want to show any of those people, started to overflow.
They blamed her, and deep down, she blamed herself.
But hearing these words, from a stranger, from someone who didn't know her but knew her Sensei, made her feel hurt.
It wasn't that he hurt her, but she knew that all of the things they had said and blamed her for were all wrong. She never deserved to be treated that way.
She was just a girl who was born with something they could not understand.
While she felt compassion for them, for not understanding, the fear and hate overpowered them, to do the same.
Gasping for air and feeling a kind of pain that every punch of her Sensei couldn't even compare to, she shook and cried.
Even if she wanted to, she couldn't stop. So she just let her emotions out, without showing her face, only a shaky, cried whisper escaped her lips.
“Thank you.”
Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
The first few weeks passed. To Mirai's surprise, she could stay in the room that was given to her, but also, she soon – actually on the next day- discovered that the Jujutsu High students all lived here. But not only them, since the grounds of Jujutsu High were large, so it was a school, but also a meeting place, training ground, and home for some of the sorcerers. Well, not that there were many of them. At the moment, it seemed that they had some teachers, some who recently finished school, and the 1st and 2nd years. Both had only recently started their school year, which meant that the three students who rescued her and the villagers had only recently gotten into their second year.
Even though she tried to keep her distance from everyone, still unsure of what to do. She didn't exactly have a place to go, so she was thankful that Yaga didn't kick her out, at least for now. The teacher of the 2nd year wanted to give the young girl time. She already went through something that could be named hell, and this school and profession were something that she freely had to choose. Even if she seemed to have the mentality for it, it didn't mean she wanted to live a life like that. While she was also still a bit younger than the others. He was torn on the decision of where to put her if she decided to take this route. From what she trained and what his students saw, she could instantly start being part of the 2nd year, yet maybe the 1st year would have been better? Probably, he should start to really worry about this as soon as she decided what she wanted to do. He would assist her in her life choice, whatever it would end up being. Shaking his head, he looked at his students. It was time for their training.
Being fit and learning different techniques and martial arts was one of the things that a sorcerer needed. Fights against curses could be long and tough. "Seems like someone was bored." Shoko raised an eyebrow when they got onto the training grounds and saw the young girl on the race track.
"Not everyone's as lazy as you."Geto mocked Shoko jokingly, who punched him playfully in the side.
"She is a good example for you. I didn't even have to get her here."
"Do you praise someone who's not even your student? That's foul, Yaga-sensei~"Gojo instantly complained. "You just wanna try to make us jealous, aren't you?"
"Satoru, don't tell me, you are jealous of her?"Geto asked, amused.
"Ah, time to get on the track."Shoko knew better than to be between them when they started bickering. Even running sounded better than that.
"As if! We're the strongest, why should I be jealous?" the white haired boy spat, which made Yaga sigh, but at the same time, he wondered.
"Maybe, because she could be just as strong. Does that make you nervous? You know, it's good to have strong sorcerers, should she decide to become one."
When Mirai noticed that the group was on the training grounds, she stiffened for a second before she hesitatingly decided to jog over to them, after waving shortly at Shoko, who waved lazily back.
"I hope. . It's okay for me to use this place???" she asked timidly the grown-up. "I just....my body felt like it needed this."
Understanding, Yaga instantly nodded. She was used to being trained, and it was something that had turned into a habit. Maybe this way, she would slowly warm up to everyone.
"If you want to, you can train here whenever you want. You can also train with my students. It is up to you," he said, as the first years were also just getting on the training ground, which would be a nice opportunity, if she played along.
"Do you want to have a match??" he asked her suddenly.
Perplexed, she looked at him and seemed to think about it.
". . . I. . well, I mean, I could use a bit of training," she mumbled, unsure of why he suddenly asked her something like that.
"Very good!" The teacher seemed happy and instantly called the first years over.
"This is Haibara Yu. I would like it if you two would give us a little show fight."
"Is this really fine? She isn't a student, is she?" the blond Nanami Kento asked, as they gathered to watch their fight.
"We will see," said Yaga while announcing the fight to begin.
For someone who was a beginner, it looked like Mirai had a hard time against the 1st year student, but Yaga soon recognized what she was doing.
"Mirai, what's wrong?" he asked her when she jumped right back up to her feet.
Pouting, that he actually realized, she let out a sigh.
"I don't fight against someone who does not take this seriously. Haibara-senpai. . you hesitate and hold yourself back, this. . is frustrating." She crossed her arms and kept a pout on her lips.
With widened eyes, the young boy looked at her and then at Yaga.
"You heard her. Don't disrespect her, just because she isn't officially a student. She was trained, so give it your all. And Mirai, instead of holding back, teach him a lesson if it's needed."
"Yes, sir! I'm sorr-" Haibara's words were cut short, as the girl punched him square across the face, which sent him flying backwards.
"You don't seem surprised."Geto noticed, as his best friend kept his eyes on the fight in front of them. "Well, with your eyes, you probably saw this coming."
Leaning back, Gojo shrugged his shoulders.
"Even without them. You both saw what she did," he reminded Geto and Shoko of what had happened in the village. Looking at the left behind traces of the curses, there were a lot of them, and she took care of at least half of them, all alone.
He knew Geto was strong, he knew Shoko could do something he couldn't, and also that their Sensei was a strong sorcerer too.
And most of all, he knew that he was strong, and he had pride in that.
But he couldn't deny it. That girl who taught the first year a lesson, to not underestimate her ever again, was also unmistakably strong.
"Oh~ she did leave an impression on you, now that's rare," Shoko noted, amused.
"She probably is leaving an impression on him, too," murmured the blond, as he watched his classmate have a harder time than he thought he would have.
When Haibara was on the ground, pushed down by the smaller frame of the girl, who held one of the boy's arms behind his back, Yaga felt that this was more than enough.
He didn't exactly want to get that kid scared or anything, even if he trained to be a Jujutsu sorcerer. But at least, they all got a taste of what she was capable of, even if neither of them even used their cursed techniques, which was probably better for the poor first-year student.
"Okay, I think that's enough. He learned his lesson, didn't he?" asked Yaga and looked at the student on the ground.
"Yes, yes, I did, I'm sorry!" he repeated, but this time looked over his shoulder at Mirai, who blinked and smiled, satisfied.
Letting go of him, she stood up and held a hand outstretched to help him stand up.
"That was fun," she looked confused as the trio of the 2nd year started to laugh.
She said it in such a manner as if she hadn't just folded that poor guy into an apologizing bundle.
"Seems one of you had more fun than the other."Gojo grinned, amused.
"Was I too harsh???" She looked up at Haibara, who, for a moment, felt like looking into cat eyes that pierced his soul.
"Not at all! I deserved it, maybe I should be the one to call you Senpai!" he laughed a bit, but also felt motivated. This girl was strong, which made him want to work even harder to give his best!
Before Mirai could say anything, Yaga directed the attention to himself.
"Now this was time enough for you all to get awake. Time for your training to start," he announced. "You can join if you feel like it."
"Ah, I don't wanna interrupt their training or such."
"Aw, and here I thought I would have a girl by my side," Shoko mumbled, which made the young girl look at the sorcerer.
"I mean. . I could. . if it's really fine."
"Sure, it is, stay far from those two and stay close to me."Shoko pulled her closer and mockingly struck out her tongue at her two classmates.
"What?"
"Are we a bad influence??" both boys scoffed.
"Well~" Shoko grinned a bit.
"I think it's best if you listen to her; those two are more than enough."
Hearing the words of their Sensei, both huffed and started to walk to the running track, before both girls followed.
It wasn't the first night that she had woken up. Unable to sleep, nightmares haunted her. Each and every night, her dreams were very similar.
Fire everywhere, she was being tied, unable to move, while innocent villagers were hunted and killed. Hearing all the cries and desperate shouts.
It burdened her, and seeing her Sensei be killed in front of her eyes, over and over again, was the cherry on top of these terrible nightmares.
Sitting up in her bed, her tired eyes looked in the direction of her desk where the two letters were laying on top. One was still sealed. She just couldn't muster the courage to open it and read what her Sensei left her.
She just couldn't imagine what he would have written her, and that kept her delaying reading the letter day by day, over and over again.
Standing up with tired limbs, yet unable to sleep peacefully, she tiptoed out of her room, across the hallway, to get out for some fresh air.
Opening to door, she sat down on the steps and tried to cool her head, till she was tired enough to sleep, hopefully without any dreams.
"Everything okay?" she heard a sleepy voice ask her softly.
Not expecting anyone at this time of night, she almost flew out of her skin.
"Sorry, I didn't want to scare you." Geto apologized instantly and took a look at her face. Even in the dark, both could see how tired they were.
". . did I wake you up??" she asked quietly and worried that she did something wrong, something that could have consequences. Even though during all the time she was here, no one did anything bad to her. Her thoughts still switched to the panic of "what if"?
"No, I just wanted to get something to drink and saw that the door was left open," he mumbled and sat beside her. "Is this okay for you?"
As she looked confused at her, he smiled softly. "I mean, me sitting here beside you."
"Oh!" it dawned on her, and quickly she nodded. "Of course."
Silence fell on both of them.
Mirai didn't exactly know what to say; she just knew that she was relieved of not being at fault for waking anyone up.
"Sleeping problems???" he asked her carefully after a while, as if not to scare her again, like he did the first time.
". . kind of" she mumbled, tiredness clearly making her words heavier and her voice raspier than it usually was.
Looking at her profile, Suguru seemed to wonder what he could do before he stood up and held out a hand to her.
"Come, maybe warm milk with honey will help you," he offered.
Looking up at him, she blinked and took his outstretched hand.
He clearly was tired himself, but the fact that he still tried to offer her some help against her insomnia, she didn't have the heart to tell him that the milk most probably won't help her against nightmares.
So she followed the teen into the kitchen and let him warm her some milk, adding some honey to it. Drinking it slowly, since he chided her when she wanted to drink it fast, not to bother him.
"It's fine, I'm here till you are finished, no need to hurry. Look, I'm drinking one too."
Sitting silently in the kitchen, both were drinking warm milk and enjoying the moment.
It was a simple gesture, but Mirai knew that the warmth she felt wasn't only from the warm drink she held in her hands.
And even if she still didn't understand how it actually helped her, when she returned to her room and slipped into her bed, she fell asleep soundly.
After finally reading the letter from her Sensei, her heart felt heavy and light at the same time; it was a paradox, but probably that is what described it the most.
It was making her feel better, but also some things weighed on her shoulders.
Folding it neatly, she put it back in its envelope and stroked it softly with her fingertips, as if she wanted to make sure that it had no creases.
Taking a deep breath, something that he taught her to regulate herself, she was ready to make her choice. A choice that she finally decided on.
With steady strides, she hurried to the classroom where she knew the 2nd years and their Sensei were, but she stopped dead in her tracks when she heard the conversation.
"The same village?"
"Yes, it seems a strong cursed spirit got manifested, I want you to go an-"
"I want to go with them!"Mirai announced after she pushed open the door.
"Mirai..."
"No, it's the same village. . the village you rescued me from, isn't it??? I want to go, I need to go!"
"But you are no sorcerer..."
"Then make me one! Do the paperwork, I don't care, I will go no matter what. It's him, I am sure it's him..."
"If you are right, can you fight him?"Gojo asked her suddenly.
"That is why I want to go.-" she looked from him to Yaga, who massaged his temples.
"I read his letter. . .he ...probably cursed himself. Please, I need to free him," she pleaded desperately.
"Come on, Sensei, we will keep an eye on her," Geto said, which made Gojo give him a side eye before shrugging.
"She's with the strongest, what can happen? As long as we're gone, you can do the paperwork for her, right?" the white haired boy grinned.
"Fine! Good, you decided it, this is..."
"Yeah, yeah, let's go, before more people are in danger," she dismissed what he wanted to tell her, which made him realize that he probably just got a new student, who would make his day harder than it should be.
But at least she seemed determined. Exactly something that a sorcerer needed to be.
"The driver is already waiting for you outside."Yaga gave in. She was a strong one, and maybe this was the only way she could live in peace, so how could he even think of stopping her? She already went through hell, even though this wouldn't be easy on her either.
Since she was the shortest, she had to sit in the backseat between Geto and Gojo, which was probably the closest she ever was around them, well, other than when she was unconscious in Geto's arms, but that was something she didn't remember.
"Are you sure of this?"Geto asked her with a serious tone, while she looked at her lap and then at the boy's legs.
"Sitting in the middle? No, not really, but I'm the youngest and shortest of us four. . so do I even get a say in this?"
"Not really, sorry, but I really don't wanna be the one in your place."Shoko looked over her shoulder. "Kick them if they're pushing on you too much."
Golden eyes looked at the short-haired girl in front of her, and for the shortest moment, Shoko felt sorry for her, but she also wanted her to get warm with her friends.
They were idiots for sure, often full of themselves, but they were also fun and actually not bad people at all. You just had to know how to handle their personalities.
"That actually wasn't what I meant," the dark-haired boy sighed.
"But you know, just because you both are criminally tall, doesn't mean I don't need space...." she murmured.
"Eh?! I didn't hear you, did you?"Gojo asked his best friend, while cupping his ear, to hear her better.
"Sator-"
"Oh come on, just because you have white hair doesn't mean your hearing is that of an old man, is it?!"Mirai's temper got the best of her, which surprised the others for a moment. While Shoko started to laugh, Geto tried hard not to burst out laughing too, but a wide grin was on his lips. On the contrary, Gojo looked at her, baffled.
"Did you just call me old? Are you one to talk?! You are getting white haired, too!"
"But at least I have no hearing problems, which you seem to have. Maybe you should get that checked out."
"You lil brat..." he looked at her with a pissed off expression.
"Now now, at least it seems Satoru cracked your shell," she felt Geto's hand on her head. "Didn't expect you to be this sassy, it seems."
Embarrassed that she lost her temper, she took a glance at Geto.
". . . he just pissed me off..." she mumbled.
"Oh, wait, wait, with him you speak like that? But get all shouty and stuff with me?"
"Well, he isn't deaf like you!" she countered. "You were the one all like, "Eh?! I didn't hear you, did you?" she mimicked his tone.
"Ah, this is bad, stop talking to me, you get me all....all riled up!"
"Stop it, both of you. But what do you mean by that???"Geto asked her, curious and amused at the same time. Normally, only Shoko could piss Satoru off, if she tried to explain how reverse-cursed techniques worked, which she did pretty shitty by the way, or if he was the one discussing with him.
"Mh? Ah. . Sensei always said, I need to be careful with my emotions. Since I was little-"
"Well, not that you grew much.." mumbled Gojo before hissing, since she slammed her heel into his foot. "SINCE I was little, I was sensitive to feeling energies. I'm kind of like. . a battery but also a catalyst. When people get strong emotions, I feel them and sometimes reflect them. The same happens with cursed energy. I take it in and my body uses it, sometimes that can also mean that I purify the place in a way, but the problem is that I shouldn't do it all the time, since I overheat like a battery if it's overused," she tried to explain.
"So you also give that energy off, if you take it in?"Gojo asked now.
"Yes and no. I can store some for a while, but if it's too much, then I have to block it off, change the energy, or let it out. Sensei said something like, If I train it enough, I could have limitless cursed energy or something like that. But also since I take in all that energy...." she mumbled, while her golden eyes seemed to look far away, before she shook her head.
"It's a bit complicated, I don't know if I understood it myself really well. I just know that it's a blessing and a curse at the same time."
Hearing her say that, the dark-haired sorcerer student looked sympathetically at her. He truly felt her when she said that it was a curse and a blessing, because no other knew how terrible it was to eat curses, yet it was a blessing that let him help people and fight cursed spirits.
"Don't forget to put a screen on!" the driver shouted after the four teens when they ran the last few meters to the village.
"Shoko, you can do that, right?"Gojo asked her.
"Already at it!" she said and started to activate a "screen" that protected the scene, so non-sorcerers didn't see stuff that they either couldn't see or explain.
That was something that Mirai hadn't been taught by her Sensei.
With big, almost catlike eyes, she looked at it before she followed the guys inside.
"Its . . . so silent here...are we already late?"Geto worried.
"No...look, there are people, but...oh god, their mouths," she said, shocked, since a few were crying, but their lips were sewn shut.
"Shit, this is freaky! Are you sure it's your Sensei???"Gojo asked Mirai.
"It has to be him!" she said, while she caught a few of the kids that were running in her direction, shaking from fear.
"Mirai! Mirai! All grown-ups are getting hurt!"
"Only the grown-ups???"Geto asked them, while Mirai pulled them into her arms.
"It's fine, this will stop in a bit. Close your eyes, soon everything is gonna be okay." She felt how both the kids slumped against her.
"What did you do???"Gojo asked her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Positive energy. I made them feel safe and cozy to the point that they fell asleep. They don't need to see all of this, and more kids are roaming the streets. Let's hurry, it seems it doesn't hurt kids. Bonus point for us, well...for Geto-senpai and me at least."Mirai said with a dry tone when she looked at Gojo.
"You're honestly a brat. . Let's split up and find the cause of this, smaller curses are wandering around here too," he said.
And while they have said that they would look out for Mirai, they would, but that girl knew what she did. Also, if it really was her Sensei, she deserved to have that moment for herself, even if they would intervene if it got too dangerous.
Just as she ran around the corner, she could see a cursed spirit, which was shaped as if it tried to replicate the image of a grim reaper.
Having a huge scythe on its back, which it didn't seem to use yet, it hovered over an older man, who seemed to be frozen in his spot.
But when he saw the young girl snap out of it, half his mouth was already sewn shut.
"...youuu! This was your doin-"
She pushed him away the last second before the scythe collided with the ground; had he still stood there, he would have died on the spot.
"That was close..." She ignored the man, who hurried away, but not from her.
Furrowing her eyebrows, she realized something. He could see the Spirit!
Turning towards the cursed spirit, it hurt to see what her Sensei had become. She was certain that it was him, especially since he only attacked the grown-ups.
The ones he started to hate, the ones that were like him. He cursed them and himself.
"Sensei...please stop. You don't have to do this, no, you shouldn't do this."
The spirit stared at her, before the dark eyes flickered behind her.
Reacting as fast as she could, she blocked the attack that was aimed at the man behind her, who had a stone in his hand.
"Please stop. . . I don't...I can't see you like this. Please stop hurting the people." Shocked that he hurt a kid, he hurt her, the spirit took a few steps back, while she started to walk towards him.
"I. . . I read your letter, I shou...." she shook her head, she didn't want to curse him even more. "I'm sorry and . . thank you. Thank you for taking care of me, thank you for making me strong, thank you for believing in me and.... and loving me." She couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
"I know it's late....I should have said it sooner."
"Don't you dare."Gojo and Geto arrived at the scene, while Gojo looked at the man with a dark look in his eyes.
"B-but she's-"the hand that held the big stone above his head trembled.
"No buts, she saved your life, again," Geto said, while not taking his eyes off Mirai, who continued to walk towards the cursed spirit.
"You were the only family I ever had. Sen-"she shook her head. "I love you, Dad. Thank you for everything," she hugged the cursed spirit while covering him in positive energy. Slowly, she felt the body in her arms change, while two arms wrapped around her.
"I'm proud of you...Thank you, Mirai." She heard the voice of her Sensei, the man, who took care of her like a father. ". . don't let your heart be changed...I love you." The voice faded slowly, just like his body in her arms.
Looking up at his face, which showed a story of its own. Scars, wrinkles, tired but proud eyes, full hair that was more silver than brown, and most of all, the love he could finally show her. He regretted a lot, but never once had he regretted that he took care of this girl. Even though he knew he should have done a better job.
But here she stood, in front of him, saving him from becoming and staying a monster.
She had given his life a new meaning, and for that she would always stay his blessing.
"I won't, I promise," she said through tears and tried to hold on to him, but it was like he was turning into thin air, till she had nothing to hold on to anymore.
The last thing she saw of him was a genuine, soft, and loving smile.
It hurt, so so bad. She just lost him a second time.
Or could she even call it a second time?
But at the same time, she was thankful. This time, she could at least have her farewell and thank him for everything.
Still, her heart felt like it was ripped into pieces.
". . Mirai-chan..." she heard a soft voice reach out to her.
Right. She still had something to do; she could break apart later.
Wiping away her tears, she turned around, fixing the man behind the two boys with a blank stare, which made the 15-year-old girl look older than she was.
Holding back his best friend, Gojo kept his eyes on her when she approached the man, who started to shout and run at her with the stone still in his hand.
Dodging his attack, she kicked his shin and, with brute force, pushed him onto his knees, looking down at him. Only bending down enough to take the stone out of his hand, to show him what she could do with her cursed energy.
Looking in terror at the stone, or more at the dust that it left behind, the man started to shake violently.
"Now listen well, you old geezer. You saw that right now, didn't you? The stitches are gone, so you can scream and shout. Insult me if you want, but just so you know. If you ever hurt any of those kids, if you ever try to hurt someone because they sense or see something that you lie about not seeing....I will come back and believe me when I say that I will show you the monster that you always told me I was," she told him in a low voice.
"This is my curse on you. Did you understand???" she asked, while he nodded, terrified. "I want to hear it, god damn it!" she screamed in his face. "Tell me with your voice! Or did you swallow your tongue?!"
"I- I ...I understood! I will not harm anyone, please don't curse me!" he begged her.
"I will keep an eye on you," she promised, before walking past him.
"What are you waiting for? You have a village to take care of!"
"Right!" he hurried off scared for his life.
"Are you sure of what you just did?"Geto asked her in a serious tone.
"Relax, she cursed him into being a good person, didn't you?"Gojo asked her, while she shrugged her shoulders.
"If fear pushes him to try and be a decent human, then it's worth it, isn't it??"
"Well, it's not bad..." the older boy said, but looked worried at her when he noticed that she spread out her arms.
"What exactly are you doing???"
"Cleaning the atmosphere a bit. Please catch me if I fall. I never tried it like this..." she admitted, since she wanted to change the negative energy in this area into positive one. So she concentrated, and before any of the two boys could hold her back, they both felt a sudden shift in energies.
As if someone suddenly pushed away the clouds that hung heavily in front of the sun and the warm sunlight enveloped them in a warm hug.
An embrace that felt soft, while also feeling soothing and almost healing.
For a moment, both students just stood there, stunned and unable to move, or just not wanting to, if they were honest.
They both knew the feeling of cursed energy, of long nights or days, learning at school and fighting cursed spirits.
While one knew how it was to swallow curses to use them for his own, he also knew how terrible they tasted. But he also got reminded of the warmth of his family, while feeling this positive energy, which felt familiar to the embrace of his mother.
On the other hand, there was his best friend, who had been trained from his childhood, being the first one in his clan since decades to inherit the 6-eyes.
He was the pride of his clan and he was proud of his abilities, but this right now, this feeling he felt at the moment, didn't feel familiar to him. While in a sense he didn't know how to react to this, it also felt welcoming.
But even though both were caught in these feelings, they instantly rushed to catch Mirai, as they realized that she started to wobble.
". . thank you." she breathed and honestly felt relieved that they really caught her.
"I think we can go back. Anything you want to take with you?"Gojo asked her, while Geto just lifted her into his arms.
With closed eyes, she shook her head. ". . they burned everything I had."
Silently, both boys looked at her shocked, before looking at each other.
"Let's go back," Geto said. "She needs rest and. . let's just go."
"Yeah, probably the better solution," Gojo grumbled, while his eyes looked back at the village and honestly felt like blasting away at least half of it.
Instead, he followed Suguru, who had the knocked-out girl in his arms.
"She overdid it, didn't she??"Shoko asked when she saw the two boys and the knocked-out girl, but she saw on the look on their faces that it was more than just that. "Ah, she honestly fits you both. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on her, so she won't turn into something like you two," she finished her cigarette, which she lit while waiting for the trio.
"Let's go back, she probably will sleep for a while."
And instead of arguing with her, they just silently followed her back to the car and back to Jujutsu High.
Chapter 3: Chapter 3
Chapter Text
"So....am I a student now or am I not???" the short-haired girl asked Yaga, a bit irritated, when he called her to the training grounds.
"First, I have a question for you," he told her calmly and saw her nod, waiting for the question that he had for her.
"Why do you want to become a sorcerer??"
For a moment, she furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head, almost like she tried to understand why he even asked that question, or maybe even being skeptical of his sanity? With the look in her eyes, it was hard to tell.
"Well..." she dragged out the word ". . this...the things that I can do, they always felt like a curse. But I realized that it can be a blessing too. I want to be the blessing that helps others, so I don't die regretting and thinking I have a curse."
"Most of us die with regrets." he said seriously when he heard her reasoning.
"Maybe, but I also want to live without them and this place...I don't have a place to go. Anywhere else, I would be the freak, the strange one. Even if they cannot see it, enough humans can feel it. I had had enough of that...."
"Good, that's a fine enough reason. I have already succeeded in registering you. I think everything should be done by next week. So rest till then."
Looking surprised at him, she started to grin happily, but he could tell that she was tired and still had to mourn over the death of her Sensei.
That was one of the reasons he wanted her to rest and only start the following week.
"Thank you." she smiled before looking confused at him, when he handed her a small device that she had already seen from the others once in a while.
". . what is this???"
"Your new phone. You need to stay in contact with everyone on missions and outside too." he looked just as confused at her when he saw the puzzled look on her face.
"..new phone?? Mine?? This is a phone?!" She held it with both hands, carefully as if she could hurt it or it could hurt her.
Shocked, he realized, this girl probably never had something like that in her hands!
"Sensei has already put all our numbers into it, you just click here and there..."Shoko tried to explain how these mobile phones worked, but she really wasn't the best at explaining, so the younger girl sat beside her and you could literally see the confusion in her eyes and her head starting to smoke.
"Man, you really suck at this!"Gojo said, rather pissed, because it reminded him of how she tried to explain reversed cursed techniques.
"You all just don't get it." she said instantly with a blank face.
"Come here, Mirai-chan, we will explain it to you before Shoko makes your head explode."Geto suggested softly, while pushing Shoko away to sit beside Mirai.
Again, the young girl was trapped between the two tall boys, who each leaned in to show her how to use this strange device.
One being more patient than the other one.
"See, it's not that hard right?"Geto smiled when she slowly got the hang of it.
"It looks more complicated than it actually is" she nodded, her golden eyes fixated on her phone, like a cat that had a new toy.
"When we're in the city we can get you some cute pendants for it."Shoko suggested.
"That and..."Gojo took her phone away, which made her instantly pout. "You need to take nice pictures with this." he opened the camera on the phone.
Shoko instantly hurried behind her and grinned. They often took photos together.
"Smile~"she winked at Mirai, who was confused for a second, while the two boys again leaned in, grinning too and took the first photo with Mirai.
"Ah, one more, I didn't smile!"she said, which amused the three older students.
"Okay, one more time, don't forget to smile." Gojo told her in a taunting voice, waiting for her to smile, before taking the next picture.
Looking at the pictures she now had on her phone, she decided to add one more thing to her personal list of things.
1-she had time to die later, much, much later
2-she would keep an eye on the village she grew up in
3-she would take a lot of pictures to have as memories!
With this in her mind, she stared at her phone.
Okay, maybe, just maybe, she would first collect a bit of courage to ask them all if it was fine to take pictures of them.
Even though they just took some group pictures, she didn't want to push her luck.
Late at night, again, she lay awake in her bed.
Looking in the direction of her desk, where the letter was.
It was a few days ago that she had her final goodbye, but still she felt in pain, no, actually it didn't exactly hurt anymore, it just felt numb.
There was a missing part in her heart and she knew, no matter how much time would go by, the part would always be missing and it terrified her.
She felt empty, since she knew she missed him and would forever miss him, even if she often cursed him for his training and being so hard on her
But she also felt the numbness and a tiny bit of fear of what if.
What if she ever forgets why she felt that missing part? How long would it take till she forgets his face, his voice, the memories of him?
Scared, she hugged her pillow closer to her chest and silently cried her little heart out.
With a grimace, Gojo looked at her in the morning.
"What???"she asked when she saw that face, while she was between just going back into her room and never getting out or slapping him square across his damn face.
"Why are you up this early, when you clearly don't need to be? Your training only starts next week, doesn't it?" he raised an eyebrow at her.
"Breakfast is usually at this time..." she mumbled tired.
Not as if she could sleep either way.
Staring at her, he clicked his tongue before he looked at his friends.
"What do you guys say, the week was harsh, let's go to the onsen after training." he suggested suddenly.
Confused, his best friend looked at him before taking a look at Mirai and nodding in agreement. "I think we all could use some relaxing time, and Shoko at least would have someone with her, you are coming too, aren't you?"he asked Mirai, who looked up surprised, before looking at Shoko.
"If we're lucky, then there won't be a lot of people."
"Okay. . yeah, I'm coming." the younger girl stated and also just didn't want to be rude and decline the offer. Also, maybe this could relax her body a bit, since she felt a bit stiff from sleeping unwell for the last few days.
"Well then, we will meet after this and go eat something." said the white haired boy and looked at Mirai. "Try to relax, you know how that works, right?? AT least Shoko should be able to show you that." he mocked both girls a bit.
"Ah~ come on, leave her alone."Shoko pushed him away and took Mirai's hand.
"Come, ignore that trash." she grinned, while Mirai looked annoyed at Gojo, who stuck out his tongue at both of the girls, before being pulled away by Geto, who shook his head in annoyance.
"Is he always like that???"Mirai asked the older girl as she followed her.
"Mh? Ah, him? Just ignore him; he can be an asshole sometimes. Being strong gets to his head, but he isn't exactly a bad guy. You will see." she smiled softly, before showing the girl where she could undress.
Carefully, the younger one followed her Senpai into the water.
"Ooooh...hot."she hissed for a moment and just slowly dipped into it, while Shoko stood behind her and stared at her back.
". . are they from them??" she asked, which made Mirai look over her shoulder. For a short moment, she was confused before she understood.
It was the first time people from outside saw her back, she never thought she would get out of there or that someone ever would see her. Someone who wasn't part of the village and didn't just fear or hate her.
"Yes, they thought they could punish the devil out of me." she smiled while her tone was sarcastic. "It was quite difficult to stop healing myself...I do it even when I don't intend to. SO I had to focus a lot on stopping the flow." she didn't really know why she explained this to her. "Only when I didn't heal anymore, they would stop...."
"...you couldn't even heal yourself after..."Shoko figured out and now she understood why the boys had those looks on their faces when they finished the mission.
Slipping in beside her, the young sorcerer looked at the girl with catlike eyes.
"Do they still hurt???" she asked softly.
"Sometimes a bit, the itching is worse." she admitted. "Sorry, I am sure they don't really look pretty ..."
"It is not as if it's your fault, don't apologize. Even with them, you still are pretty."
Shocked, she looked at Shoko. When was the last time someone said something like that to her?? A bit baffled, she blushed shyly, "Thank you."
Laughing softly, the older girl grinned at her.
"Also, I love how you can piss off Gojo, you know, sometimes he deserves it."
"Seems your plan worked, "Geto said when they were on their way back to school.
After the onsen, they went to eat something as planned, before heading to the train station to get back to Jujutsu High.
Sitting in the train, the youngest one felt how she struggled to keep her eyes open.
The first few minutes of the drive, she just listened to the others talk, trying to stay awake, but her eyelids got heavier and before she realized, she was knocked out.
"The plan was to make her sleep through the night. I don't know if this will succeed if she sleeps now."
The way she looked made it pretty obvious that she had sleeping problems.
If she kept this up, she would have darker eyes than a panda, even ignoring the fact that she cried, with how puffy her eyes were.
"Sometimes even someone like you can have good ideas."Shoko said and couldn't wait to get out to have a smoke.
"Tse, looking at her just made me tired too."
"Well, at least she sleeps now. Let's hope she sleeps through the night." Geto glanced at her while she leaned on his shoulder.
"She was through shit for sure. Makes me want to smoke even more." Shoko stretched, while the boys looked at her with grimaces on their faces.
"Keep that stinky shit away from us, will you?"Gojo instantly said.
"Don't worry, I'll enjoy it all by myself." she said and looked at the younger girl, keeping her scars as a secret for now.
"I'll take her to her room,"Gojo said and lifted the girl into his arms before Geto could, while he raised an eyebrow.
"Fine, just don't start to argue with her, if she wakes up."
"I won't promise anything. She's a sassy lil brat."
"She could be your female version, sucks, doesn't it??"Shoko grinned while lighting a cigarette as soon as they were outside.
"He won't do anything to her, will he?" she asked Geto when Gojo kept walking, carrying the sleeping girl.
"I don't think so. He has a bad temper and sucks at interacting with others, but I think he was worried, too. She really didn't look good at all. Maybe I should make her drink warm milk with honey more often." he mumbled the last part, more to himself.
"More often? Is there something I am missing?" An amused smile crossed her face.
"I sometimes caught her sitting outside in the middle of the night." he admitted. "Usually, I get her to drink the milk before going back to her room."
Snipping her fingers, she nodded.
"That's why you both are somehow softer with each other!"
With a blank face, the dark-haired boy looked at her. When she said it like that, it just really made him cringe, just like when Satoru talked about them being the strongest.
"Ha, now I need to keep a close eye on you both. I really hope she won't turn out like you two. You are more than enough."
"Well." Now it was his time to smile, amused. "Can't promise, you saw how sassy she can get. What do you think in which class Yaga-sensei will put her?"
"He better keeps her with me. She suffered more than enough to have the luck to compete with two guys all alone. Even if Haibara would probably be more than happy to have her in his class. I think he is torn between adoring you and her."
Rubbing his neck, he didn't really know if he liked that he was adored by a younger student, even if he at least didn't make it that hard for them, as Satoru made it.
"Well, after the way she beat him up, I'm not exactly surprised."
"Also, she could handle him and Nanami. To be honest, I think Nanami would have more problems with Haibara and Mirai-chan. Both are too energetic."
"They would give off a funny trio, but I still want her to stay." Shoko admitted.
And even though Suguru didn't say anything, he also hoped that the girl would stay.
"I really don't like this skirt." Mirai, who hadn't worn the school uniform yet, seemed displeased and tugged on the ends of the skirt.
"What's the problem with it? Is it too short??"Geto asked her and saw how frustrated she was. "No, at least I don't care, the tights cover everything, but. . but how can I fight in these??? It's way too fitting. How do you fight in these???" She looked at Shoko, who blinked and looked down at her skirt.
"They take over the missions where fighting is needed," she pointed at the boys.
"I think Yaga-sensei gave you a regular uniform. You can tell him what changes should be made and they will make one for your liking. See how mine is different from the others?"Geto asked her calmly.
"You can also get more than one. You will survive till you get a new one. Just leave the fighting to us, like Shoko does."Gojo said, which earned him a snort from her.
"No, thank you. At the end, I'll hear you boast around, your ego is big enough as it is." she looked blankly at him.
"Keep your 'I'm here to save you~' for someone who needs it."
"Pretty big ego yourself, you think you don't need my saving?" he asked directly.
"Oh, look, someone got hearing aids?"
"Maybe someone should teach you a lesson-"
"Enough, you two, let's first see where Yaga-sensei puts you. No fighting, alright?"Geto got between the bickering pair.
"Right, come on, he better keeps you with me."Shoko hooked her arm around Mirai's and pulled the shorter girl with her to the classroom, where soon enough Yaga came.
"What are those faces?" he asked as he saw Gojo and Mirai, who shortly glanced at each other, before turning in another direction.
"Nothing," they said in unison and for a moment, he blinked before rubbing his temples. Oh, this would truly be an experience. This girl could be calm, but she also seemed very much to be similar to the boys.
"Well, I see you already have your uniform. Let me know if you want changes. For the beginning, I ordered you the standard uniform," he told Mirai, who instantly perked up."The skirt needs to be changed. This is way too tight for me to fight." She listed a few things, like wanting at least a few more and maybe some with pants instead of skirts.
"Good, then let me explain where you're gonna be. We will do something that we normally don't do. Usually, you should be in the first year, but from your experience and also the tests that I gave you last week, you can be in the second year. But since you have some stuff that your Sensei didn't teach you, I will set some missions and lessons for you in the first year, too. Your official class and team are these 3 and me, being your Sensei." he explained.
A bit surprised, she looked at Yaga. If she were honest, she almost expected to be put to the first years, but she would lie, if she said she wasn't happy about this decision.
". . I...so I can stay here??" she asked timidly, while Shoko grinned happily and hugged her. "Now that's a great decision!"
With softened eyes, the teacher nodded.
"Yes, most of the time you will be in this class. So you three better start to be good examples for her." he looked especially at the boys.
"Yeah, yeah" Gojo rolled with his eyes. "Are we done with the moral speech now?"
"Satoru, don´t be like that. It's nice to have Mirai-chan with us."Geto looked from his best friend to Mirai, who smiled timidly but seemed quite happy.
In the few weeks she was here, she really had warmed up to everyone.
It was probably the first time she didn't feel like a complete outcast.
No one seemed to fear her or even be disgusted by her.
Honestly, it felt amazing, as if she had found a place to belong.
She could even accept Gojo's stuck-up behavior, but she needed to be cautious not to get too emotional around him, which was quite hard to be honest.
He seemed full of himself and somehow, he just really got under her skin.
Sometimes she wondered why the bond between him and Geto was so intense.
The dark-haired boy seemed way more mature, calm and kind, they were literally opposites, like yin and yang. Maybe that was their reason to get along?
Yet she also wasn't really experienced with interactions between people who had a similar age. The person she had spent most of her time with was her Sensei.
The village didn't have many kids of her age, but even the ones that were there weren't allowed to interact a lot with her, or they already feared her.
The smaller kids, on the other hand, were curious, but the parents also kept them away from her, as if they went too close, they could get infected with her being demonic, or who knows what crazy stuff they thought.
She has always felt different, especially since they made it pretty clear that she was different to them. And while she loved her Sensei, even he made it clear to her that, even if he taught her and that he used to be a sorcerer, she was different. He had called it special, but for her ears it always sounded like the nice version of "different," and she hated it. That's why she was also so torn about her ability. Should she call it a blessing or a curse?? Most of the time, she saw it as the latter. But being here at Jujutsu High, maybe she would change her mind.

"Ah, look who is back."Shoko smiled a bit when she saw Mirai coming back with the first years. Haibara was talking happily, while the short-haired young girl listened, smiling at him, followed by Nanami, who seemed rather exhausted.
"Seems everything went well."Geto smiled and seemed a bit relieved.
"Oh Geto-senpai! Ieri-senpai!"Haibara grinned when he saw his two upper classmates. "Did you know what an amazing sense Yamato-senpai has???" he asked, which made Mirai look at him, shocked. "You really don't have to call me your Senpai, you started at this school before me."
"But you are a 2nd year and I'm a 1st year, also you are honestly amazing!"
"It is no wonder she is in your class," Nanami said.
"You guys. . for real." The young girl rubbed her neck in embarrassment.
On the mission, she wanted to follow the two boys, trying to get to know them a bit, like how they acted and all. But soon after they started their mission, she felt the presence of some stronger curses, even before any of the boys could.
And while in her eyes, she just did what she thought she had to do, both boys knew exactly that they most probably wouldn't have left without getting hurt way more seriously. She had reacted fast, pushing both boys away, while she saved herself by doing a split. One of the curses was very fast and took other cursed spirits with him.
"No, no, for real, you should have seen her! She pushed us out of the way. I didn't even feel anything before that! Did you??" he looked at Nanami, who looked at him with a blank expression. "No. . It is even crazier that she did. That cursed spirit was so fast, it felt like from its speed the energy lagged behind it."
"And those other curses weren't that weak either," the brown haired boy added.
"We would have been screwed without you," Nanami admitted with a sigh.
Mirai had taken care of the speedy curse, while she left the other curses mostly to the boys. Since she was sensitive to cursed energy, she could track the one that was so fast and hold it back from attacking the boys, before winning the fight against it.
"Sounds like you did pretty well, both are impressed by you."Shoko grinned a bit at the younger girl, who didn't really know how to feel with all this praise.
They wouldn't start hating her, would they? This was a good sign, right?
Brushing the hair out of her eyes, she looked around. This was rare; usually, where Geto and Shoko were, there was the white haired nerve-wrecker too.
Noticing that she seemed to look for something or someone, Geto looked at her.
"Your hair has gotten a bit longer, does it bother you??"
Surprised, she looked up at him. Indeed, her hair has gotten longer. She never really had any girly haircuts or such, one of the indirect punishments of being who and what she was. Maybe when she was very little, before her power manifested, yeah, probably before that, she had longer hair, like small girls usually had.
"It . . doesn't exactly bother me, I just don't know what to do with it. It's not really long, but also not that short anymore. I am...I'm just not used to it," she murmured and brushed her bangs out of her face "...they always cut it so short."
"We can get you to a hairdresser and trim it, if you don't want it that short anymore. You know, now you can have long hair if you want."Geto said softly to her and searched for something in his pockets. "Till then.." he walked behind her and pushed her face with his fingertip, so she looked straight ahead again, instead of looking over her shoulder. "We can try to keep the hair out of your eyes at least," she felt him brush her hair with his fingers.
He tried to be gentle, so he didn't hurt her accidentally, while putting half of her hair up in a small ponytail, only leaving some hair strands loose in the front.
"Better?" he asked her. "Sorry, I usually only take care of my hair."
Surprised, she touched her hair carefully before looking with big golden eyes up at him.
"Thank you."
Smiling, he patted her head, while Shoko took out her phone.
"Smile~" she said and instantly took a photo when Mirai looked at her.
"Adorable."Shoko grinned, satisfied and didn't even show the photo to anyone before clapping her phone shut and putting it away.
"I'm going to rest a bit now. Thanks again."Nanami said to Mirai.
"No need to thank me. It was fun, thanks for letting me come with you guys."she smiled warmly at the blond, who nodded.
"I'm coming too. I will give it my best to be stronger next time!"Haibara grinned at her, before he followed his classmate.
Hugging her from behind, Shoko looked after the two boys.
"You won't leave us for them, right???"
"They are nice," she said and giggled a bit when she heard the older girls gasp. "But I like it here, so nope. If I'm allowed to, I will stay with you guys."
"Good, I need you here," she grinned, satisfied, before letting go.
"Go rest a bit too, you deserved it."
"She's right. If you need us, you know where to find us, "the older boy told her, while she still wondered where his counterpart was.
But since she didn't know if she should ask, she just nodded.
"See you later," she smiled and walked to her room, wanting to see how she looked with the hair up, since this was a first for her.
Entering her room, she froze. Irritated, she stepped outside, looked around to make sure she wasn't in the wrong room, before she stepped inside.
The room that was rather empty till now, looked....cozy. Yes, that word probably suits it the most. It almost looked like those rooms, she saw with others in a series, they watched occasionally together.
Wide golden eyes looked around and took in the changed room.
On the floor in front of her bed was a small fluffy rug, while she had some flowers now in her room, a new desk lamp and even one of those sitting-beans in a corner with a small bookshelf, that had some books and manga. Wait, were those some plushes and figurines too??
Was this Yaga-senseis doing??? But didn't he just recently give her the new uniforms?
Irritated and a bit confused, she walked to her dresser to get on her usual outfit, which she had gotten on her first day here.
But when she opened the doors, her jaw dropped.
There were new clothes too?! Looking at them, they seemed made out of good material and probably were quite expensive. There weren't many items, but enough to have a few changes of clothes and even sleeping wear.
Rushing past her classmates, she ran to her new Sensei, who looked surprised at Mirai, as she just burst into the room.
"Yaga-sensei, isn't... isn't that too much?? Like I mean, I am thankful, but but..."
Confused, the grown-up looked at her.
"Calm down first and explain what you mean."
Taking a deep breath to earth herself, she nodded before explaining.
"Isn't that too much?? Like...is that oka-"
"That wasn't me," he interrupted her. "While you were on the mission, boxes came in, it is best if you ask your classmates."
"My..." her eyes widened. "Thank you!" she instantly hurried back.
A bit out of breath from speeding as she did, she bumped against Geto when she slid across the floor.
"That is too much, you both shoul-"
"It wasn't us, we just helped put away everything," he explained and smiled when he saw how confused she seemed. "Well, Shoko and I did help, the stuff is from Satoru."
"He??" she furrowed her eyebrows, as if she didn't believe him. ". . where is he even?"
"Ah, so you were looking for him, "the black-haired boy said. "His Clan wanted to see him. He will probably get back later or tomorrow. Enjoy your new stuff, get comfy."
Following his suggestion, she went back to her room, but just stood there and looked around again, while she remembered her conversation with Geto a few days ago.
While both sat outside and enjoyed the warm milk, Geto could feel that there was something bothering the younger girl.
"You know, you can tell me if something is bothering you. No one is punishing you here. You can be. . just you."
Enjoying the warmth in her hands, she took a sip.
"You are truly very kind," she mumbled. "I trust you, you are a good person."
Looking at his surprised face, she wondered why he was even that surprised.
Didn't he know what a good person he was???
"Am I? Thank you," he smiled softly after he let her words sink in.
"That is why I am...wondering, you are calm most of the time and so nice. . and then there is him. He's like your total opposite, full of himself, disrespectful, a know-it-all...the list could go on." She felt irritated, even while just talking about Gojo.
"Ah~ you're talking about Satoru, don't you?" he asked and sounded a bit amused. Looking up at the sky, he leaned back on one hand while holding the cup with his other.
"It is not that you aren't right with what you say. He is all that and more, but he still isn't a bad guy. You know he was born into one of the 3 clans, you learned about that, didn't you?" he asked her. Thinking back to her lessons, she nodded.
"Yeah, the Gojo, the Zenin and the Kamo Clan. My Sensei wasn't a particular fan of any of them," she admitted.
"He probably had his reasons for that. Those clans are pretty strict and mostly focus on the ones that are strong," he explained with his calm voice.
"My parents, for example, are non-sorcerers. They don't exactly get what I am doing, but they support me. But Satoru. . he was born in the Gojo clan and having inherited both the six eyes and the limitless, he is almost like their trophy."
"Like their trophy???" she asked him.
"Yes, it seems it's very rare to get both. Especially the six eyes is a very rare ability that the people of the Gojo Clan can get. So it's pretty special."
"...special..." she mumbled, "I never liked that word."
Wondering the dark-haired boy looked at her, but didn't push her to explain. Giving her a moment to decide if she wanted to tell him more or not.
Taking a big gulp, she breathed deeply through her nose.
"Sensei always said that about me. "You and your ability are special," For me, it only sounded like a nice version of being different," she admitted.
Humming, he nodded before looking into his cup.
"I think you two could understand each other more if you weren't both so stubborn.
He grew up to be the strongest. Since his childhood, he was trained, you know. Being the pride but also the weapon of his clan. None other being even close to his strength. They put a lot of weight on him. Doesn't that sound familiar??"
Letting the information sink in, she shuffled in her place a bit.
It did indeed sound familiar and it stirred something in her; she just really didn't get why it upset her, why she felt so appalled hearing all of this.
Side eyeing her, he took in her reaction for a moment before standing up.
"Maybe try to ignore his faults. Under all of that and being special, he is only human, too. Just like you."
"...just a human like me," she mumbled and knowing from who all of these things in her room were, she recognized why he had chosen exactly these items.
Why didn't she realize it sooner? Especially when there was Digimon stuff on her shelf and even a plush of Gatomon, one of her faves, since she started to watch the series, on her bed.
Taking in the room one more time, she got back to the clothes and put on some comfy ones that were new and felt super soft, before lying on her bed and looking at the plush. Softly tracing its features with her fingertips.
"Soft..." a smile slowly spread on her lips, at the same time then a warmth in her.
"Maybe he truly isn't that bad..." She curled into a small ball and fell asleep, while hugging the soft plushie against her chest.
Still having nights where she didn't sleep that well and the nervousness she had before her mission with the 1st years, she honestly just felt tired.
The next day the four sat in their class, where Yaga wanted to assign them to a new mission.
"Shoko, I have a mission for you. It's nothing too hard. And you the..."
"Can I go with Shoko??"Mirai asked, surprising everyone in the room.
". .just..like making sure, you never know, maybe it is gonna be a harder mission than thought," she murmured because of the reaction.
Wondering if the girl once again had a discussion with Gojo, he sighed but agreed.
"Okay, fine, this once you can go with Shoko. Then you two go on the other mission I have." he looked at the boys and explained to them what the missions would be about.
"What is this exactly about???"Shoko asked Mirai when they were on their way to the mission. It seemed to be a low-grade cursed spirit that one alone could totally handle, even Shoko, who was more than happy with this. She gladly left the higher grades to the boys.
"Nothing, I just wanted to have a mission with you," the younger one instantly replied, but she could feel the stare of her Senpai on her.
It wasn't as if Shoko minded having the younger girl with her. It felt nice to go on a chill mission with someone else and she really liked being around the girl.
Especially with her adorable behavior.
But something was clearly off. Because, different to herself, Mirai didn't mind more dangerous missions; with her cursed technique, it wasn't really a surprise either. In that aspect, she was more like the boys.
"I mean, it couldn't be because of Gojo, could it?" she asked, but it was quite obvious, especially since at breakfast Mirai seemed to try to somehow talk to him, but at the same time avoid him as much as possible. Even to the point that the tall boy asked her if she had any problem, being all weird like that, which just set her off in a way that she almost hissed at him.
Feeling embarrassed, she could feel her cheeks turning warm.
How she wished the ground had swallowed her at breakfast.
Why couldn't she just act normally? Why did he have to get under her skin?!
"You know you can tell me, I won't tell anybody. Especially not those two," she lit herself a cigarette while stepping a bit aside from Mirai, since she knew that the younger girl didn't like her smoking, even if she never said anything, her wrinkling her nose each time she lit one was enough of a giveaway.
". . .I just..I don't know. My room and all that stuff in it, being from him...I'm grateful, everything's amazing actually." She brushed some hair behind her ear.
"It's just the fact that it is from him. I never thought that HE would do something like that, you know?"
"Show kindness?"Shoko asked and looked thoughtful at the girl beside her. "He truly is an idiot. I kind of get why you would think that," she puffed out some smoke into the air. "But I still wonder why you get like that with him. You are like a soft kitten with Geto and me, but go all scratchy and feisty if it's about him. But it doesn't seem like you hate him or dislike him, or do you??"
"I don't hate him," she said without hesitation.
"Well, at least of that you seem quite sure."
Pouting, the girl with the white streak in her hair looked ahead.
She really didn't hate him. Hate was a strong word and also hate meant negative emotions. Which. . well, okay, she did feel some negative emotions towards him, but that was because he got so much under her skin.
Again, remembering her talk with Geto, a sigh escaped her.
"Maybe it is because we are similar."
"Mhhh, yeah, somehow you are." The older girl nodded in agreement, which shocked Mirai. "Couldn't you at least disagree ???"
Amused, she laughed and shook her head at the bewildered girl.
"Come on, you have similarities, you admitted it yourself just a second ago. Does that bother you that much???"
"Yes! No....I...I don't know. I don't really get it myself."
Playing around with the cigarette at the corner of her mouth, Shoko looked at her.
"Maybe you shouldn't think so much about it. You are smart, I'm sure you'll figure out why you act this way around him and why it bothers you so much. Let's concentrate on the mission now. Just know that even if you may be more similar to him, I'm here," she told the younger girl.
If she said it for Mirai, so she knew she had a friend in her, or if she said it for her own sake, she didn't know. But she was there too.
Mirai's cat-like eyes looked at Shoko, even though the older girl felt like the girl glanced, for the shortest time, at her soul.
"I know that. Thank you," she smiled softly and felt a bit better about her strange situation, which she still couldn't really figure out.
But it was nice knowing that she could count on someone else.
Especially since it was people around her age.
After they finished their mission, they went to buy some snacks before going home.
"Settled on finally talking to him?"Shoko asked, amused, after Mirai asked what Gojo liked and bought some more sweets because of that.
Nodding, she looked into the bag that had different kinds of sweets in it, but also some other snacks that she wanted to give to Geto, too.
If she were honest, she just didn't want to leave anybody feeling left out.
But she really needed to finally talk with Gojo! She could do it!
"Just try not to start a fight."
"I am not starting them!"
"Okay, okay, then try to stay calm, good luck," she grinned and left the girl to herself to search for the white haired boy.
Wondering if the two boys were actually already back, she wandered around the campus. Hearing some noise from the gym, she decided to take a look.
There he was, his tall figure playing around with a ball, before throwing it into the basketball hoop. Getting the ball, he dribbled it before suddenly throwing it in her direction, which caught her off guard, but she still managed to catch it.
"Fast reaction, not bad," he said with a light grin on his lips.
Instantly, she could feel a hot sensation in the pit of her stomach, squeezing the ball between her hands, staring daggers at him.
"You wanted something? Cat got your tongue???" he looked at the ball. "Come on, throw it back, or you wanna try to get points?" he pointed with his thumb at the basket behind him, which made her emotions turn from being close to exploding into being more interested and curious.
"I never played this," she admitted and loosened the strong grip on the ball.
"Booo~ how boring! Then it's time you do!" he walked to her, took away her bag and put it on the side. "That's just in the way. Now look and learn!" he grinned at her, while taking away the ball from her hands.
Doing the same thing as before, he again succeeded in dunking the ball into the basket. "Wanna try?" he asked the young girl, who instantly nodded. "Yes!"
Grinning satisfied, he got the ball and passed it to her.
For her first try, he let her just do her thing without saying anything; to his surprise, she wasn't even that bad.
"Close!" he said, while she had a pout on her lips. Getting the ball, he signaled her to watch him again, which she instantly did.
"It looks easy when you do it," she tilted her head to the side, which made him laugh.
"Of course, because it's me."
Without missing a beat, she looked at him, annoyed.
"What's with that face?" he raised an eyebrow at her. He dribbled with the ball, keeping an eye on her, wondering what her problem was.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself, avoiding his gaze.
"...can...can you show it again?" she asked him and to her surprise, he didn't comment on it, but nodded before he once again showed her how he did it, before passing the ball to her.
Dribbling the ball, to get a better feeling, she tried to relax.
"At breakfast I-"
"Behaved pretty strange?" he grinned at her and it took everything in her not to punch that ball too hard or even fling it at his head, even if it wouldn't harm him, probably.
Because this time, actually, he was right, she did behave strangely.
Which just made her cheeks burn in embarrassment.
Concentrating on dribbling the ball before taking it in both hands.
"Sadly...but I wanted...I wanted to thank you," she said, while throwing the ball that first slowly danced around, before landing in the net.
"You did it!"
"Yay!" she jumped happily up with her arms stretched up above her head.
"Again! One more time!" she instantly said with sparkling eyes.
Laughing Gojo got the ball and threw it at her.
"Wasn't that hard, was it?" he asked her and for a moment, she looked at him, wondering. Was this about basketball or about her thanking him?
"Come on, let me see if you can do it again," he grinned, while not saying anything to her, thanking him, which was probably his way of saying that she shouldn't mention it. He only did what he wanted to do.
Chapter Text
On a rainy day, Haibara and Nanami got back from a mission, beaten up quite a bit, but mostly feeling ashamed and worried.
As the 2nd years saw the two boys, they hurried to them.
"Where is Mirai-chan???"Geto asked them instantly, since the girl again had a mission with them.
"...some Curse Users appeared suddenly and took her with them..."Nanami said, looking quite angry, with himself and the world.
"They did what???" he asked shocked.
"Wasn't your mission something about cursed spirits???"Gojo asked instantly.
"It was. We were there and everything went fine, but suddenly some of those strange guys appeared. They were crazily strong...I think...I think they numbed her or something," Haibara murmured.
"It was like they targeted her, as if they knew she would go between if they shot at any of us. . . she did and after that she started to stumble. Damn it..."
"And before we could try to get her back, they covered everything in smoke..we couldn't see or track them..." Even the boy who always had a good mood seemed done. Exhausted and worried. How couldn't they save her??
"I will take care of your wounds and you two should tell Yaga-sensei before you just run off," Shoko said calmly to her classmates, who seemed pissed.
Not at the younger boys, but that someone had kidnapped Mirai.
It wasn't as if Shoko wasn't worried and angry. She was, but she probably couldn't do much. What she could do best right now was heal these both idiots in front of her.
"It's good that you're back, now she has a chance to be rescued," she told them calmly.
This situation again? This felt way too similar, being tied up, but what was different was this feeling of dizziness and that feeling like she couldn't exactly form a normal thought. Lightheaded. Yes, that word, that would be it, right?
Think Mirai. Where are you?
Moving her head, she felt like going in slow motion.
What is this???
"Oh, you're awake? Tough one!" she heard a voice, way louder than it should be.
Or did it just seem like it was loud?
Damn, she could even hear the lights giving off a sound.
Was she high? Was this how people felt when taking drugs??!
Hearing steps, a pair of feet suddenly where in her vision. Very slowly looking up, while the person crouched down in front of her.
Looking a bit like a punk? Or was it just an illusion?
"Feels strange, mh?" A creepy grin crept up on his face.
"Sorry for doing that to you, but you are strong and I really didn't want to fight you~"
Searching eyes looked into his. Were his eyes spirals?
This was a bad dream, wasn't it? Or maybe, she in fact was high?
But she never took anything! So how??
"If you behave, I will open those and you can sit-"
"You are gonna do nothing. Are you stupid? She's high, thanks to your stupid plan," she heard another voice, that seemed annoyed.
"But we have her, thanks to my genius plan!"
"...ouch..." she winced, they were too loud, way too loud.
Concentrate! Could I....what did I want to?
"We do, but we can't even talk to her. Does she even understand what we want?? Hey, you, look at me."Someone just touched her face and forced her to look at them.
A muscular man with piercings looked down at her. Scars across his bare arms.
"We want you to be part of our group, you are strong, do you understand???"
Group?? What group? Ah, right..Haibara...Nanami!
"Hey, did you hear me??" he asked her annoyed.
"Get me some cold water, maybe she is gonna listen then," he grunted.
"Why the hurry? She can't do anything as long as she is like that."
"Next time, give her less. We want to use her, but being high like this, she isn't useful at all. Mostly she would be good a fuck, but that's it. Fuck it, you idiot!"
"Okay, okay~ chill. I just wanted to make sure that she won't fight us. Shouldn't Ren be back by now?? I am hungry as hell."
"You are both shitheads-"
"Couldn't agree more with that."Mirai's head perked up.
That voice, she knew that voice!
"Fuck! They found us?!" Both guys instantly were on their feet, one of them pulling Mirai up, holding her in front of him.
"Don't even try, or I'm gonna kill her!"
"You'd better let her go." The wall behind him burst open, revealing Gojo, who was sitting on a flying cursed spirit that belonged to Geto, while the dark-haired boy came in through the door and protected himself with another curse of his, when the other guy had attacked him with his Cursed energy, which could make others feel drugged.
". .. you..."
"Shut up, you stupid bitch! Fuck off, I mean it, I am gonna kill her! If we can't have her, you can't either!" he guy screamed and turned to Gojo, since the other one was trying his best against Geto, who really was pissed right now.
"Loud..." she groaned annoyed. "You are...way too damn...loud."
"You heard her, I wouldn't mess with her temper, "the white-haired boy told the guy, but kept cold eyes on him and her, who was pretty pale.
"Ha, who cares what a bitch like her says, mh? She is strong, so she will be useful and maybe be a good play-doll. At the end, she just needs to be useful," he spat while his nails turned into claws. "So now stay away, this special little brat is gonna be ours, or do you want her corpse???" he asked with a dark grin, while he held his claws to her throat.
"...I hate that word..." she murmured, while the cursed energy in the room got heavier and darker. As if a switch had been activated.
Irritated and still not all clear in her mind, she looked up and looked into blue eyes.
For a moment, it was almost as if she could understand him, without hearing him. She didn't need to; she just did. Maybe it was her condition, feeling this high.
Maybe it was something else, but while closing her eyes, she concentrated on her throat, doing something that wasn't easy for her, she laid her life and her trust into the hands of the two boys, who came to rescue her.
While she closed her eyes, everything happened in mere seconds.
Gojo jumped forward, reaching for the girl, who was held hostage. The guy instantly wanted to step back, but something was holding him back.
The short second he looked at his legs, which were held by one cursed spirit, Gojo succeeded in touching Mirai and pulling her to him.
Shocked that he would do that, while he clearly slashed her throat, the kidnapper was too stunned to say anything at first.
Only realizing that the girl was already healing, when he was hit by Satorus' infinity and caught by Sugurus' cursed spirit, just as his teammates.
"Damn you, sorcerers! As if it would be different if she is used there or fro-"the dark-haired boy knocked him out angry.
"Is Mirai-chan alright???" he asked his best friend worried, who held her while kneeling down with her.
"Slowly healing, it seems." Even the white-haired boy seemed relieved.
"They drugged her pretty badly, it's a wonder that she can even heal herself now." Geto tried to ignore any complaints from the kidnappers, well, not as if one was knocked out, and if he had to, he would do the same to the other two.
"Yeah, pretty sick bastards for sure."Gojo sneered as he looked at them, before looking down at Mirai, as he felt her stir.
"Hey, everything's alright, we got you," Geto said softly to her, while she opened her eyes. Still feeling strange, she locked eyes with the white haired boy, who held her.
Wondering where his glasses were, she reached up to his face.
"....no hallucination..." she mumbled as she felt skin under her fingertips, since he let her touch him, instead of keeping her away with his infinity.
"...but no ..no glasses?" she furrowed her eyebrows irritated.
"Wait? It's not that you don't recognize me witho-mhhh!" She suddenly put her hand over his mouth. "So loud...psssshhhh"
Amused, Geto looked at the girl, who was looking truly like a cat right now, since her pupils were widened from still being high.
"Sorry, we will try to be quiet," he said softly and looked at Gojo, who just looked blank at him and was very close to just lick her hand, to annoy her, but her hand was already falling off his face.
"Mhhh...thank you..." she looked from Geto, back at Gojo "..thank you."
Standing up with the girl, who was knocked out, in his arms, he looked at his best friend. "Let's get her back and those assholes to the higher-ups."
Waking up from a strange dream, Mirai blinked a few times and looked around.
She was in her room? OH right!
Jumping out of her bed and running straight into her door frame, she cursed and held her shoulder while trying to stop the world from spinning.
While she squinted her eyes, she could hear feet scrambling over the floor.
"What happened???" she could make out Geto's voice.
"Seems like the door won, mh?"Shoko asked softly, while the girl nodded with small tears in her eyes. ". . dizzy...miscalculated...ouch..."
"Where did you even want to run? The whole house shook from the impact."Gojo teased her amused and grinned when she looked at him annoyed.
Ah, she was clearly doing better. The way she looked at him when she was kidnapped and drugged was somehow different.
For a moment, it felt similar to the trust that he shared with Suguru.
Not that it was bad, she had understood him even if it was a bit of a gamble, with that asshole at her throat, but at least it did work out well.
"...I wanted to see if Haibara-senpai and Nanami-senpai were alright," she admitted, instead of hissing at him.
"It's late at night, don't worry, they are fine. Relieved that you are back."
"And alive and in one piece, they honestly were so worried about you, almost funny."Gojo added, which made Geto look at him with an expression that could be a mixture of "Are you for real?" and "You just had to tell her that, didn't you?"
"Funny???"Mirai looked at him with a blank expression.
Shrugging his shoulders, he nodded.
"Yes, they would have been screwed, even without us being there. You heard them too, didn't you? They talked a lot of shitty stuff, but they were right on one topic."
Looking at him with furrowed eyebrows, she felt the familiar sense of lava boiling in her stomach, ready to explode.
"You are strong," he said to her surprise.
"Eh???" it escaped her before she could think of any word.
"Of course she is, did it take you this long to realize it?"Shoko asked and looked from him to Mirai, who still just stood there with a surprised look on her face.
"As soon as the drug's effect had worn off, I'm sure you could have handled it even alone."Purple eyes looked amused at her stunned face. "But I'm glad we were there just in time. . "he didn't want to know what they would have done to the poor girl otherwise. The way that asshole spoke about her was really just disgusting.
"Am I still high??" she looked at Shoko, who laughed. "Maybe a bit, but doesn't seem as bad anymore."
"...wait...wait, did I do or say something strange while I was knocked out???"
Looking at each other, the three older students smiled to themselves.
"Eh...eh?! Why are you all smiling? Wait, why am I getting no answers??? Shoko-senpai?? Geto-senpai???" She looked from one to the other before looking at Gojo.
"What??" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Did I....???"
Humming, he leaned in a bit, acting as if he was thinking, before grinning a bit.
"Oh, you would like to know, don't you??" he just chuckled and started to walk away.
"What?! Wait, that wasn't an answer! OH gosh, what did I do?!" she looked at the other two, who had chuckled a bit, but instantly stopped with her staring at them.
"Well, you seem quite fine, so I'm going back to sleep. Call me if anything's wrong~" Shoko hurried off, too, which made Mirai feel even worse.
She did say or do something, didn't she?!
". . . Senpai???" She looked with big puppy eyes up at Geto, who was surprised for a second. Now that was something he didn't think she would just suddenly do.
Clearing his throat, he patted her head.
"Don't worry about it, go back to sleep."
"Oh gosh...even you avoid telling me-"
"There is nothing to avoid, don't stress yourself. Now go back to sleep, your pupils look better than before. Till tomorrow, it should be all good."
Looking skeptically at him, she hesitated for a moment, but she trusted him.
It couldn't be that bad? Could it? I mean, Gojo would have rubbed it in her face if it was something embarrassing, right??
Trying to stay calm, she nodded, "Okay...good night," she mumbled and carefully walked back to her bed.
Looking after her, a sigh left Geto's lips, relieved that his best friend really held his promise, even if for a second he thought he would break it.
Just after they got back to school, Mirai had woken up, while Satoru lay her down, so Shoko could take a look at her.
Opening her eyes, she looked up at him, a puzzled look on her face.
"No pretty eyes...how sad," she mumbled, clearly still pretty badly affected by the cursed technique. "...blue and purple are so ..so pretty..." she closed her eyes.
Gojo seemed frozen for the shortest moment before starting to grin.
"Don't you dare to mention this to her. She's high."Suguru instantly told his best friend, who rolled his eyes.
"I think he's right, she would absolutely avoid you and maybe even us, if she knows what she just said."Shoko agreed, but was also a bit curious.
Blue and purple. Those were the eye colors of the boys.
It didn't have to mean anything, yet it could and now she couldn't just ask her, because of this. Ah, how sad.
But she would somehow figure it out for sure.
"Well, at least she has good eyes. She's all yours now, even though I don't think we can do much, other than let her sleep through it."Gojo said to Shoko.
"Shoko will do this, come with me, "his best friend said and walked ahead.
Taking a second to look at her throat, which was healed now, he nodded and followed Suguru out of the room.
"Satoru, you have to promise me that you won't tell her and also won't tease her about what she just said."he looked serious at the blue-eyed sorcerer.
"Come on~ this is not that serious!"
"She just said something like that while being out of her mind."
Rolling his eyes again, he grimaced.
"Fine~! Not as if she lied," he said relaxed. He knew he was attractive; enough people reacted in a way that made that pretty obvious.
He was good-looking and his features were something that was rare, not just in Japan, he knew that all too well.
Teasing her was fun and all, but he probably wouldn't have teased her about the fact that she was thinking his eyes were pretty, even if Suguru wasn't this protective over her. He was a tease, yes and he couldn't care less about many things, but he didn't intend to be that kind of asshole, not to her at least.
"And....will you tell her? She talked about purple, too." But he could tease his best friend a little bit, especially if he was this serious and being all morally right again,
"Of course not!"
"Because it is embarrassing for her....or for you?"
"What is this supposed to mean?"
"You tell me," he shrugged his shoulders. "Seems like I am onto something?"
With an annoyed look, Suguru fixed his best friend.
"Don't act as if you don't care, Mirai-chan went through enough, isn't that why you try to take off her mind, get her things and annoy her?"
Feeling a bit caught, the slightly taller boy threw up his hands in the air, as if he was giving up. If two people understood each other deeply, it was these two boys.
And strangely enough, the younger girl resonated with them on a level that made both care in their own way.
It wasn't as if Shoko wasn't their friend, just as Haibara and Nanami were, even if they were only first years.
Maybe it had begun in that village when she used her ability and made them feel that strange, warm feeling, connecting them in a way that was hard to explain to others.
Or was it because just like the boys, she had a blessing that also was a curse in a way? It didn't really matter if they were honest.
She was here now and belonged to their little group, while their bond got stronger with each day, as if she was always meant to belong here.
"Mirai-senpai!"Haibara shouted from far away when he saw the girl outside with the other upperclassmen.
"I told you, you don't have to call me like that," she scolded him, while being relieved. He seemed fine, and so did Nanami, who took a good look at her, checking if she was really fine.
"I don't think he is gonna listen, just enjoy it, "Shoko suggested.
"I'm just glad they seem both fine." A smile tugged on her lips. "Sorry if I worried you both. I'm alright, so you don't have to worry anymore, okay?"
"I promise I will keep giving my best! SO I am strong enough to protect."Haibara instantly told her.
"It is good that you're back," Nanami told her, which was his way to show that he was relieved, that she was still alive.
Could he have been going on, knowing that he couldn't even save or protect her?
Being a Jujutsu Sorcerer truly sucked!
Chapter Text
Taking a break from their training with the 1st years, the 2nd year students sat together with the two boys, enjoying some snacks and drinks.
"Some of you have too much stamina...." the blond sighed, which Shoko had to agree with him, as she looked at her classmates and Haibara, who seemed more worn out as his upper schoolmates, but still not as done as she or Nanami was.
Amused Mirai looked at both of them.
"It is a bit unfair, compared to you all, right here I would probably hold on the longest" she said, which made her sound almost like Gojo.
As she saw the faces of her friends, she realized it herself.
"I mean..it's because of my cursed technique. I could say I have more stamina than others do. I didn't want to show off or such."
"Why not? It is not as if you aren't right."Gojo enjoyed his Popsicle relaxed.
"I still don't quite get it....It sounds similar to the infinity but it is different right???"Haibara asked both.
"It totally is!" both said in unison. Since the day that they rescued her, her bond to both boys had gotten stronger, she even got a bit more along with Gojo.
"This is terrible, don't stray away, don't get like them," Shoko said to her teasingly.
Which made Mirai shudder. "Save meee." she joked back and giggled, when Geto ruffled through her hair, before she pushed him away.
"Look, if I did this." she took one of the leftover Popsicle sticks, that she broke into two pieces, so it had rigged edges, before trying to stab Gojos tight, but thanks to his infinity the stick flew right out of her hand and scratched her.
"He isn't hurt, right? Because it can't reach him, but I on the other hand don't have that." she showed her scratched hand, that bleed a bit.
"But I can use the energy around me, more like my body does it on its own. It takes in energy from you, the animals...just everything around us and converts it, which makes my body heal, but also makes it stronger, gives me more energy and I can actually output it in different forms."
"Isn't it dangerous to use it without a break???"Nanami asked her curious.
"Mhhh, it depends." she took one of the chocolate covered strawberries and bit into it, humming satisfied. "If I don't take in too much negative energy, without converting it, then I usually start to get overheated. Like I literally get hot, high fever and all. But here its probably not gonna happen."
"Why do you sound so sure about it???"Haibara asked, while the girl finished her strawberry and licked the chocolate from her finger.
"Well...simply put, everyone here is more balanced. The regular human, doesn't know what they put out there without a care in the world. Worries, hate, shame....everything seems just normal to them. Without regulating their own emotions...well you know, curses and that stuff. I'm sensitive to all of that."
"Living in that village must have been hard for you..."Geto murmured, especially since she just seemed so relaxed, while she hurt herself just a second ago.
Silently reaching for a mochi, she nodded her head.
"Imagine being a kid and getting overstimulated and then being told to train not to take in all of that energy as if I chose this. Its terrible to know exactly that you are the reason, that half of those people either felt fear or hate." she felt the energy shift and looked around.
"Sorry, that slipped out. I should stop talking." she apologized.
"Don't apologize, at least you are more open now," Shoko said to her while Geto took her hand and took a closer look at her palm.
"And just because you heal, doesn't mean you have to hurt yourself. You still feel pain, don't you?" he asked her.
Wondering, she looked at him before nodding hesitantly.
"It does. I do heal, quite fast, but nothing takes away the pain," she said, which made Shoko think of all the scars she saw on her back.
How much pain did this girl had to go through?
"Then you should be more careful. As you say, you don't have the infinity as Satoru does. Even if you heal fast."
"Imagine if you had that too, even though you already are strong like this."Haibara grinned a bit, while Mirai seemed thoughtful.
"Would that actually be possible??"
"What do you mean?" now Gojo asked her curious, while leaning back relaxed.
"I mean, like for example, if I would have kids with someone from the Gojo Clan, could it be possible for the kid or their kids to have both???" she asked him.
Looking silently at her, Shoko and Geto stared at him, as if to hopefully make him read their mind, to not say anything wrong.
"It really depends," he said after a while. "First of all, not everyone from the Gojo Clan is as strong as me. SO even if the kids or grand-kids would get both it doesn't exactly mean that their infinity is gonna be as strong. But probably better than not having any. And actually...." he looked at her and got suddenly quite, when he realized something. Realistically, she was someone who didn't know from where she had her powers from. She didn't know her parents, it could be from some clan, that would have to be tested, so normally the Clan would see her as an outsider. But thinking of her ability and how good her sensory was, it would in fact not be bad for the Gojo Clan. The six eyes he had was rare, which meant that her ability would benefit them maybe and that meant, that it was best if the Clan did not know about her! They would try to strengthen the clan with her for sure.
"Satoru???"Geto asked, since he just suddenly stopped talking.
Putting on a grin, he leaned a bit in. "Was that you trying to get into the Clan???"
Blinking at him, she thought about his words and blushed instantly.
"That's not what I meant!"
"Those kids would be crazy strong, like you two and Geto-senpai," Haibara said imagining those kids in his head.
"Well, I don't think that is how it works."the purple eyed boy said and side eyed Mirai, who clearly seemed embarrassed.
Standing up he stretched for a bit.
"Lets get back to training," he said, which made even his best friend groan out load.
"Can't we just chill a bit longer. Don't act as such good students that's boring!"
"AH right! I...I wanted to take some pictures." the younger girl remembered, jumped to her feet and pushed Geto back to the others.
"Please sit down Senpai, just a few pictures and we can continue our training," she asked him nicely and took out her phone.
It wasn't the first time she suddenly just took some photos of her classmates.
Capturing small memories of the people, who she adored and looked up to.
For her it wasn't that important where they were, it was just the moments that she wanted to keep, so she could look back and know, she was not alone.
Sometimes she suddenly took a photo of them while they just relaxed, like now. Other times it was to lighten the mood after a mission.
Each of the photos being a part of her new life.
And a tiny bit of her hoped that her Sensei could see her and be relieved and happy.
She also often got the photos printed and shared them with others if they wanted some. A wall in her room being just full of memories, each time adding more.
After taking some pictures, Mirai nodded satisfied, but before she could put away her phone, Gojo grabbed it, while Geto pulled her to sit with everyone.
"You also have to be on some of those photos."Shoko leaned her head against Mirais, who was surprised, before a happy smile spread on her lips.
Putting an arm around the older girls back, Mirai beamed at the camera, while Gojo, who had the longest arms, took some photos of the group, this time including everyone in it.
They had already often taken photos even before Mirai got to them, but since she was there and knowing how she lost everything that had belonged to her, they appreciated these small moments and memories even more.
Late at night the young girl, looked up at the stars, you could see them quite clearly here. Well no wonder, with them being pretty high up.
It was truly a good march and workout to walk all the steps up to be here, yet it was worth it, for this view but also for the people, who she lived here with.
Hearing steps, she didn't need to look up to know who it was. In the time she was here, she learned to recognize everyone by the way they walked.
"Can't sleep again?" the soft voice of the dark haired sorcerer asked her.
"Geto-senpai....can I ask you something?"
Sitting beside the younger girl, he was a bit curious, what she wanted to ask him.
"Of course."
"....how does it feel like to swallow those curses?" she surprised him with that question. It wasn't something he expected and she was probably one of the first people to ask him that.
A bit flabbergasted he looked at her and met golden eyes, which looked up curious at him. How come that she asked him something like that, so suddenly?
"It's disgusting. They taste...terrible. Imagine..." he hesitated for a moment, but saw her eyes, that kept looking at him, almost as to encourage him to continue. ". . .a dirty rag that was used to wipe up vomit and diarrhea..." he murmured.
In shock her eyes widened, before it turned into an almost sorrowful look, with a mix of. . . pity?
"That is terrible...I...I'm sorry."
"For what? It is not your fault." he insisted. "But, why the sudden interest?"
"It isn't exactly a sudden interest," she admitted. "When I saw you gulp down those cursed spirit balls...I wondered if they even tasted like anything. Also...." a sigh left her lips before shaking her head. "Nothing, forget it."
"You can tell me. You're the first that actually asked me how they tasted to be honest. So I'm a bit curious to why. It feels like there is more to it."
Pulling up her knees to her chest, she curled and released her toes.
"Well....I actually wanted to ask you for a favor, but I don't know if I can do that, knowing that its so disgusting....I'm really sorry you have to go through that, each time you swallow one of them."
Softly he nudged her to make her look up at him.
"First ask, I can deny, can't I?"
"Of course you can." she instantly said and relaxed, when she saw his amused smile.
He had something calm about himself, even thought she felt something, very deep within him that felt the total opposite. She knew he could be passive aggressive, different to Gojo, but that something, that little spark she sometimes felt, she wondered if it came from all those curses, that he had swallowed over time.
". . .why do you do this?" she suddenly asked instead of asking him for the favor.
"Sitting here with you?" he asked confused and titled his head a bit to the side.
A giggle escaped her lips, instantly shaking her head "Not that. I mean...why do you do this job? It must be awful to swallow all those curses, yet you do."
For a moment the mature boy just looked at her, before shifting a bit on his spot.
"Because it is our job to protect the ones, that can't protect themselves. Aren't you doing the same because of that?"
"In a way I probably do...but still, you..." suddenly his hand reached out and stroked her head softly. "It's fine. That is what I can and must do, so you don't have to look at me like that." it bothered him, that she looked at him with those golden eyes, which clearly felt sorry for him. No, that wasn't just pity. They held emotions, as if she was the one that had to swallow those curses, as if she could feel how horrible he felt, each time he had to gulp down one of them.
Yet he did it, because it was his duty. He was strong, he had power and while humans, who weren't sorcerer couldn't do anything against curses, he could.
So he had to protect the weak, that was his belief.
"So now, what is the favor you wanted to ask for?" he asked, since she never had asked for anything. She was patient, most of the time at least, and she didn't ask for much. Maybe because she was used to have so little?
For a moment he could feel how her eyes looked almost deep into his soul, which was giving him goosebumps and a feeling as if time slowed down.
"Fine," she said after what felt like half an eternity. "If....if I should someday die..and turn into a curse..." she bit her lip for a second. "Would you swallow me?"
"This...."
"I mean, you know a lot of people always cursed me, so I ...I wouldn't be surprised if I would end up being one or like become one....I just....I...I just really like it here. I loved my Sensei, he was probably the closest thing of a family that I had, but this here? It feels....like something that people call home. I just don't want to end up alone again. Its stupid, I'm sorr-"
"I will. If that should happen, I will." he interrupted her rambling, which made her look up surprised. "I don't think that you will turn into one and lets hope you won't die, only when you're old and wrinkly. But if you do, then I'll take you on and make you one of my curses, promise."
"Thank you Geto-senpai." she almost whispered, thankful that he didn't judge her.
"You know, after asking me something like that, it feels kind of distancing calling me like that. Or should I also call you Yamato-chan?"
Wrinkling her nose in distaste, she shook her head.
"Good, then feel free to call me Suguru. I mean you're willing to be swallowed, should you end up being a curse some day."
"Well, you are willing to do so...But okay, if you're okay with it...Suguru." she grinned a bit and felt lighter. This had weighted on her a lot, but she knew she could count on him, so she felt more relaxed.
"Oh, but don't get me wrong. I don't plan to die early!"
Laughing he ruffled through her hair. "Good to know!"
Curled up in a ball Mirai was confused. Did she eat something bad? Why did her stomach hurt so much? Yet...it wasn't exactly her stomach, it just hurt. Sitting up, she looked down confused. Something felt off and soon she could see what felt off.
Blood! Her bed sheets were bloody, as was her bottoms.
But she wasn't hurt! Even if, she would heal!
First instinct was to run out the door, before she shook her head.
Not like this! Reaching for her phone, she texted Shoko, who instantly came running to her room. Worried she looked at the girl and took in the situation, before a relieved sigh left her lips.
"You didn't have it till now???" she asked softly. "Don't worry, you just started your period and it seems to be a pretty hard one too. Come with me, I'll give you some stuff to use, then you take a nice shower and change into other clothes. I'll change your sheets don't worry." she took a blanket and put it around Mirai, after giving her some clean clothes. Leading her gently to the bathroom, where Shoko showed her what she had to use from now on.
"Thank you....this is stupid but I panicked a bit" the younger girl admitted.
"It's fine. You can count on me. Does it hurt badly???"
Instantly Mirai nodded. "It feels like daggers being pushed into my tummy..."
"Poor girl, its fine. Take it slow. I'm taking care of everything." she soothed the younger one. Mirai was really thankful for having Shoko. If she were honest, when she imagined how it would be to have an older sister, she instantly thought of Shoko.
"Thank you," she mumbled again and was kind of thankful, that she didn't had her period way faster, because damn this hurt and she couldn't just heal it.
While the golden eyed girl was taking a hot shower, Shoko hurried to her room.
Two sleepy heads poked into the room, being curious to what was going on.
"Is she hurt????"Geto asked, as he spotted a bit of blood.
"Yes and no."Shoko folded the bloodied sheet so that the blood couldn't be seen anymore, before getting new ones.
Thinking a bit, she turned to the two guys and especially fixed Gojo with her eyes.
"Don't annoy her for a few days, would you?"
"Is she bleeding because of you?" the boys seemed confused, while Geto looked at his best friend. Did they end up fighting? But they got better along now.
"What?! I didn't do a thing!" the white haired boy instantly defended himself.
Looking at them with a blank expression, Shoko was torn if she should tell them both, but it wasn't as if this was something unnatural.
And she really wanted them to be understanding with Mirai.
"No you idiots," she said nonchalant. "Mirai got her first period. She probably never really had someone to talk about this stuff. So be kind to her."
"Oh." both said in unison, not sure what to say or what to do.
"How...like how can we help?"Geto asked a bit hesitantly.
Blinking Shoko put a finger thoughtful at her chin.
"Some painkillers would be a good idea and maybe some heating pads. Some snacks and such." she started to list things.
"Sounds easy. Well then, lets get those things."Gojo said and also wanted to use the opportunity to get himself some sweets.
"This is really ridiculous, how can this hurt so much and make me feel this shitty???"Mirai asked Shoko, when she curled up in her bed again.
"Some have it worse than others. The guys are gonna be back soon. The painkillers are gonna help you."Shoko said softly. "Till then, press a pillow to your tummy, that is gonna help a bit too." Doing as the older girl said, Mirai pressed a pillow to her body and looked a bit pale at Shoko. "Thanks again....I...well most people kept their distance from me..."
"Figured that out myself. Don't worry, you know I'm here." she smiled and was kind of happy that the younger girl had reached out to her.
Softly patting her head, she sat beside her.
"No training for you, till this calms down. Don't want you to faint."
"Mhhh....okay." she hummed "Thank you Shoko." she was the only one she had called by her first name from the start. The older girl didn't really mind it, while Mirai just did it because it felt right.
"Come in" she called when she heard a knock on her door, both boys looking inside, while having some bags with them.
"Here, we have some painkillers for you" Suguru got the medicine out of one bag and something to drink from the other one.
"Thanks Suguru," she mumbled, while taking both in her hands and swallowing the painkillers instantly. Hoping they would work as soon as possible.
Looking from one to the other Gojo and Shoko blinked.
"Did you just call him Suguru???"
"Since when are you this close???" both asked curious and at the same time.
"You also call me Suguru." he looked at Gojo.
"Yes, but that's me."
Looking up at the white haired boy Mirai sniffed and stared at the bag he held.
"...it smells like caramel..."
Looking from his best friend to the curled up girl, before looking at his bag, that in fact did have some goods with caramel flavor.
"Fine, but only because you are this pale, I'll share with you," he said overly dramatic, sat in front of her bed and took out the sweets that he actually got for himself. Not that he didn't bring her something too.
"Now look at those two, looking at that sweet stuff as if its made out of gold," Shoko said to Geto who laughed a bit.
"Seems we have two sweet-tooths now," he said amused, while Shoko took the heating pads. "Gonna warm these up, be right back, keep an eye on both, so they won't end up fighting."
Holding up his thumb as an okay sign, he looked back at the two, who really seemed to get along just fine.
"Suguru you want some???"Mirai asked him, when she noticed him watching Gojo and her. "Those were actually for you. Satoru you better leave her some."
"I do I do, see we are sharing." he pointed at all the sweets. "You enjoy being the good guy waaaay too much."
"Being so kind, that she even calls you by your first name now."Shoko came back and gave Mirai the heating pads. Instantly hugging it to her lower tummy, she let out a sigh of relieve. This really felt good!
"Does...it bother you two that I call him Suguru?? He said it was fine."
"Oh he did?"Shoko hummed, while looking at the tall dark haired figure, who now sat beside Gojo on the floor in front of Mirais bed.
"Well, if he is fine with it," Gojo said and reached into a bag.
"We brought you some chips." he shook the bag, which Shoko instantly took, before sitting on the edge of the bad.
"Thanks! Way better than that sweet stuff you eat," she said, while even Mirai looked at her shocked. How could she say that?!
"Okay, no. Someone who smokes, doesn't have the right to say anything bad about sweets. Not even one word."Gojo instantly said shocked that she would even dare.
And even if it was rare, Mirai instantly had to agree and nodded.
"We are talking about food, but nice that you two agree for once. Congrats."
