Chapter 1: Last Resort
Chapter Text
You sat in your counselor’s office in shock. There was no way you lost your spot to some geek. He wasn’t involved in any clubs let alone anyone in general. He was just there. And yet, he beat you at your own game. Scoring higher in the final exams last year, and winning the scholarship you worked so hard for.
“I know it’s upsetting, but there’s another scholarship you can work towards.”
“What made him score so much higher than me? I studied everything for weeks, almost months.”
Your counselor, Gyoumei, sighed, “(Y/N), it’s okay if you’re not first. Numbers and scores don’t define a person. You’re involved in many clubs, as well as being the president of the Student Government.”
He noticed your unwavering glare and let out another sigh.
“His math scores topped yours.”
“What? No way!” You ran a frustrated hand through your scalp.
“If you’d like to work towards that other scholarship, I have a recommendation.”
”Whatever it is, i’ll take it.”
𐮛𐮛𐮛
You walked back into your most hated class, and apparently the one you needed to work on the most. It started to click to you that there weren’t many seniors in the class, so maybe this was a sign. It wasn’t like you failed Math. You just struggled in it. Really though, who thought it was a bright idea to add letters and fractions to the mix?
“Alright, your homework for tonight is to complete the front and back.” Your teacher began passing out a homework sheet. “It’s due by 11:59 P.M. No late submissions will be accepted.”
You stared down at your worst enemy and sighed. The bell rung, signaling your sixth hour was done and school was out for the day.
As you started packing your bags, your teacher called you up to their desk.
“Yes, Mrs. Ubuyashiki?”
Your math teacher sighed, “Mr. Gyoumei sent me a message, and I know you’re not exactly fond of the idea…”
You frowned.
“But, it’s best if you start early in the year.” She pulled out a thick packet, “This will help you understand the units you struggled in the most. Your tutor, Tomioka, will meet with you daily to help.”
The air in your lungs got stuck in your throat as you coughed. There was no way.
”I’m sorry, who?”
A smile crept on her face, “Giyuu Tomioka, he’s top of the class. He’s the perfect candidate.”
“Perfect candidate?” You choked out.
She nodded.
“And I have to meet with him.. daily, you said?”
”Yes, as long as it fits both of your schedules.”
“There’s no one else that can tutor me? I mean-”
“(Y/N), dear, he’s the best we’ve got. Don’t you want to achieve your goals?”
You sighed, “Yes..”
”Is there something wrong?” She hitched an eyebrow.
“N-No. It’s fine. Thank you, really.” You took the packet with a half smile.
“Beautiful. He’s waiting in the library for you.”
You froze, “Oh, we’re doing this now. Like— right now?”
She hummed, “Better late than never.” A cute smile rested on her soft face.
You couldn’t go back and forth with her, so you accepted your fate and made your way to the library. Of course he had to excel in the one thing you struggled in.
As you slowly crept into the library, you spotted him sat a table with his laptop and notes out. Glasses rested on the bridge of his nose and his hair was tied into a low ponytail. You groaned lowly to yourself and made your way to the table.
His eyes didn’t leave his screen as you made an appearance.
“You’re here for my teaching, right?”
“Um, I wouldn’t call it teaching.” You shot.
He stopped his typing and glanced up at you. He had a blank, emotionless expression plastered on his face. You couldn’t tell if he was annoyed or not.
“Aren’t you going to sit down?”
Your lip twitched as you pulled out a chair from beside him, inching it a couple feet away from him as you sat down.
He continued to type away at his laptop, occasionally writing things down.
“So, are you going to teach me or continue to do.. whatever you’re doing.”
A sigh escaped his lips, and he halted his movements. “I’m doing this in curtesy of you, give me one second.” Then, he resumed his typing. “Thought you said you wouldn’t call it teaching.” He muttered.
You shot a glare at him. What was his deal? “You didn’t have to accept this task, you know.”
“You didn’t either.”
Not even five minutes in, and he was already insufferable.
He closed his laptop along with his notebook and slid it to the side. He took off his glasses and placed them in his case.
“Show me what Mrs. Ubuyashiki gave you.”
You squinted your eyes at him briefly before pulling out the packet. He glanced down before looking at you with a blank expression. Without his glasses, you could see just how blue his eyes were. It almost made you want to compliment them. Almost.
“Whats with the confused look?”
“Nothing.” He scooted a bit closer, and you got a whiff of his cologne. You were surprised he even wore any.
“Okay..” You pulled out a pencil and began working on the first problem. It was simple; you just had to get the variable by itself.
“Wrong.”
You paused and shot him a look, “What do you mean wrong?”
“You need to get both variables on the same side.”
“I did.” You pointed your pencil at your work, feeling confident.
“When there’s a set of variables on each side, you factor it out. You didn’t do that.”
You were left puzzled as he began explaining the concept. You were never good at literal equations, especially when fractions were involved.
“Okay, could you at least explain it a bit better? You’re supposed to be teaching me it, not just me what i’m doing wrong.” You continued to throw around his ‘teaching’ term.
He let out a small sigh, “This is basic algebra, how do you not get it?”
You blinked, hard. His tone was so basic, yet his words came with an impact. Not to mention his unreadable face.
Shrugging his words off, you tried to go off what he mentioned and factored out the needed variable. “Like that?”
He hummed. “Then you solve it like normal.”
You finished the problem and waited for him to say soemthing, but he didn’t. So, you continued onto the next, repeating the steps.
“Wrong.”
’Oh my god.’
”How? I did exactly what I did in the first one.”
He leaned over you and took your pencil from your hands. Your breath hitched from how close he got.
He began setting up the equation for you, glancing over once he finished. “See what I did?”
To be honest, you didn’t. You were too focused on his hands that were much bigger than yours. “Yup.”
You tried your best to finish the equation without making it seem like you were lost. You didn’t get why you were letting yourself get so distracted by him.
“Okay, did I do this one right?”
“You did some unnecessary steps, but yes.”
You groaned, “Then why didn’t you say something?”
”You got the right answer, did you not?”
He was going to be the death of your academic life.
You sucked in a deep breath, “Okay.”
If he wasn’t going to properly tutor you, fine. As long as you got what you needed out of this, that’s all that mattered.
‘Just get the scholarship.’
That’s what you continued to remind yourself anytime he’d shoot you a backhanded remark. The funny thing was that he didn’t even mean to come off that way. But unfortunately, he still did, and it pissed you off.
You managed to finish the first page, and you felt like you were finally getting somewhere. That was until you read over the content of the next page. It was the property of equality. Your biggest enemy your sophomore year.
Tomioka pulled out his notebook and began writing things down, but you payed him no mind. You busied yourself with trying to solve the first problem, but got stuck on the second slot.
“Here.” He ripped off a page and placed it next to you. “These are all of the properties with examples to help.”
“Thanks.”
That was probably the first actual helpful thing he’s done in the past twenty minutes.
Using his notes, you finished the problem with ease. It pained you to admit it, but the cheat sheet he made was perfect. It gave you a perfect understanding of how to use each property properly. You always confused the transitive property with the substitution property, but he explained it in a way that completely made you grasp the concept.
You checked your phone and noticed an hour passed by. “We should probably wrap things up, it’s been an hour.”
“You only finished two pages.”
“And?”
“If you want to be productive, i’d suggest you go over some more problems.”
A scoff escaped your lips, “I don’t need to finish the entire packet right now.”
“I didn’t say you did.”
You ran a hand down your mouth and refrained yourself from saying the thoughts that clawed at your mind.
“I have to go home to do things, and i’d rather not spend the rest of my day in a library with you of all people.”
He blinked, “Okay. We will resume tomorrow, same time.”
“Sounds awesome.” You faked a smile.
𐮛𐮛𐮛
“Hey dear, how was your tutoring session?”
You froze as you stood at the foot of your staircase.
“Your counselor emailed me about it, i’m so happy you’re doing this honey!”
“Yup, me too.” You quickly ran upstairs and tossed your school bag onto your bed, along with your body.
You couldn’t believe this would be your life for the rest of the semester. But then again, maybe you were just being overdramatic. So what if he took your spot. He’ll soon be losing it since he’s tutoring you on the one subject you’re not so good at. It might be difficult considering his boring, nonchalant, yet sassy persona— but you can and will make it work.
The next day, you walked into your math class with confidence. The unit you were going over was partially what you did yesterday, so you had a brief understanding instead of having none.
“Please pass your homework sheet forward.”
You hoped you did the work right, because it flew your mind to bring it up with Tomioka yesterday.
“Pssst.”
A girl with pink hair and green highlights waved her hand at you, “What’d you get for number seven?”
“Um,” You glanced down at your answer and noticed the multiple eraser marks. You definitely got that one wrong. “I got thirteen.”
“Really? I got eighteen.” She sighed. “I’m so bad at this…”
The girls name was Mitsuri. She was in the same grade as you, but you rarely talked. She was more involved with cheerleading and culinary classes rather than more academic things. Besides that, you knew she was a very king-hearted girl, and you liked the interactions you shared.
”You’re probably right, i’m not really good with math.” You handed your paper to the person in front of you.
“Whaaat? Really, but you’re top of our class!”
You cringed, “Not anymore.”
“Wait, who is it?”
“Giyuu Tomioka…”
Mitsuri laughed, “No way! Giyuu? He’s so quiet and self reserved. Well— I guess it makes sense since he does nothing but work all the time. He never wants to hang out with our friend group.”
Of course he doesn’t, all he wants is that nice spot at the top. The spot that should be yours.
“Maybe you should get him out of his shell, since he works so damn much that he took my spot.” Your eye twitched, causing Mitsuri to laugh again.
“You miss your spot that much?”
“Yes. I wouldn’t care as much if it was literally anyone else. He’s just so… so-”
”Nonchalant?”
You click your tongue, “Exactly.”
“He’s actually pretty nice if you get to know him. Personally, I think he’s a cutie.”
’Cutie? Has she lost her mind..’
”I definitely would not say that about him.”
She shrugged her shoulders, and the two of you cut your conversation once Mrs. Ubuyashiki began teaching.
You paid close attention as she went over formulas to different problems, and wrote them down as a reference sheet. Similar to what Tomioka gave you. You hated that his idea was so smart. You should’ve thought to do that a long time ago. Maybe then you’d still hold your spot in number one.
“Please have this sheet done by the end of class.”
“The end of class? You’ve got to be kidding me..” Mitsuri placed her head down after receiving a paper.
You frowned as you glanced at the problems. Not only were they variable-involved, but they were also fraction and property of equality-involved.
There was half an hour of class left, and you only had two problems done. Mitsuri was almost done with hers, but you didn’t bring yourself to bother her. And you certainly weren’t going to ask an underclassman.
So, you tried your best and put down answers that you felt were somewhat right.
You ended up using the cheat sheet Tomioka gave you yesterday for some problems, and on those problems specifically, you felt you did it correctly.
“Hey did you put substitution for this one?” Mitsuri held her paper up and pointed at a problem.
“Yup, hopefully it’s right.” You sigh.
Once your teacher collected your papers, you were all free to go. Mitsuri gave you a small wave as you parted ways, and you gave her a smile.
You mentally prepared yourself on your walk to the library. And as you thought about how today’s interaction would go, you were starting to think if this was really worth it. There were plenty of different ways to get scholarships. You shouldn’t put yourself through something you didn’t want if there were other options.
Then again, this probably was the easiest choice.
Entering the library, you noticed it was a lot more crowded than yesterday.
“(Y/N),”
You jumped at the sudden call of your name and whipped your head to the side. Tomioka stood a couple feet away from you with his usual blank expression. “What?”
“Let’s go somewhere else.” He began walking towards the door, giving you no time to debate.
You quickly followed after him, inhaling the same cologne you did yesterday. You kind of liked it.
“Um, what was wrong with working in the library?”
“Too many people.”
“You could’ve said that instead of making me follow you. You didn’t even properly greet me.”
He stayed silent as he continued to walk, making you roll your eyes.
“Where are we even going?”
”Does it matter?”
You took a deep breath and didn’t question any further. You didn’t even know why you bothered asking. He wasn’t terrible at communicating, and you picked that up yesterday.
The two of you ended up going to the rooftop and setting up on the bench. It was a perfect spring day. The wind wasn’t too harsh, and there was just enough clouds to not have the sun beaming on you.
”Did you try any problems on your own?”
“No? Why do you think this packet was given to me? For me to do this by myself?” Your tone was snappy, causing him to stay silent for a moment.
“Okay, let’s resume where we left off yesterday.” He pulled out a notebook and a pencil.
You didn’t question why he got out his materials, and instead mimicked his actions. As well as pulling out your packet.
The two of you sat in silence for a moment, and it gave you time to calm your nerves that were raised by him. He sat unbothered, waiting for you to make a move.
“You know, Mitsuri mentioned that you never hang out with your friends cause you’re always busy working. Maybe you should change that.”
“Why?”
You chuckle, “Because you lack communication skills.”
Finally, you saw a different expression form on his face. It was subtle, but it was there. He had a slight furrow to his eyebrows.
“I don’t lack communication skills.”
“Are you for real?” Another chuckle escaped you. “Whatever, let’s just get this over with.”
“Okay.” He was already back to his stoic self.
You began working through the rest of the second page, occasionally stopping from time to time to ask if you were doing it right since he wouldn’t say anything. He’d correct you, then go silent and write down in his notebook.
From how quiet he was, it made you wonder how he managed to become acquaintances with Misturi. She was the total opposite of him in every shape and form.
“Make sure you find the common denominator first when subtracting fractions.”
“But you told me I didn’t need to earlier?”
He shook his head, “That was because you were multiplying then.”
You tapped your pencil against your lip and hummed. You remembered being taught that back then, so why do you struggle now?
“Okay, so is this right?”
“Reduce it to its simplest form.”
You groaned and erased your answer to replace it with a new one. Who made math so difficult, and why make it such a necessity in life?
“Perfect.” He commented.
You nodded and continued on. If you weren’t already annoyed, you may have smiled.
“Wrong.”
“Oh my god.” You groaned again and erased your answer. “Can you at least speak more, teacher?”
He glanced at you briefly before turning back to his notebook. “I was writing things down as you worked through the problems.” He ripped off a page and place it next to your thigh. “These are some things you need to consider when solving for anything involving fractions or variables.”
You read through his notes, and they were surprisingly easy to read. “Why don’t you say these things out loud? It would help me more instead of you showing me this when i’ve already finished.”
He hummed, “Okay.”
“Forget it, Tomioka. These are just fine.” You grabbed the paper, crumbling the bottom slightly out of annoyance.
‘…Factor out, then solve. Got it.’
”Do you get it?”
You shot him a glare, “Yeah, thanks for asking.”
He nodded, making you roll your eyes. Maybe they’d get stuck in the back of your head from how many times he’s made you do it.
You scribbled down sloppy notes on the side of your paper for reminders when solving, and held up your page to him with raised eyebrows each time you’d finish an equation.
And to no one’s surprise, he’d either nod or shake his head. Sometimes he’d even give you his signature ‘wrong’.
”I have a recommendation for you.”
“What is it?”
You bit back a smile, “Do something outside of just working, maybe even get a hobby. Anything that’s not related to school, do it.”
“I have hobbies outside of school.”
You barked out a laugh and set down your pencil, “Is it sitting in silence?”
”No, i’m sure you know that’s not a hobby, (Y/N).” He added a bit of sass to his tone, making your eye twitch.
“I’m well aware, thank you. I was only joking.”
”Aren’t jokes supposed to be funny?”
You stared at him and blinked a couple of times. He stared back with his head cocked to the side, almost in an observational way.
“God, you’re so impossible.”
A small chuckle escaped his lips, and it made you freeze. “I’m only giving back the same energy you give me.”
You clicked your tongue. He had to be enjoying this or something.
“Whatever Tomioka, just try and actually fulfill the role you were assigned, yeah?”
“Yeah.” He had a small tug at his lips, and you wanted to slap it off of him.
You couldn’t believe he was your last resort.
Chapter 2: Resentment
Chapter Text
“How’s your tutoring going with your favorite person in the world?” Mitsuri teased.
You leaned back in your desk and groaned. It’s been a week now, and you’ve hated every second you’ve spent with him. He unfortunately gave you his number for instances where the two of you couldn’t meet up, but sadly, there hadn’t been any instances.
“I hate it.”
She giggled, “C’mon it can’t be that bad (Y/N).”
”Oh trust me, it can.” You lean back forward and stare at her paper that was placed on your desk. The two of you were working on a sheet together since Mrs. Ubuyashiki gave you all hour to do it. “It’s almost like he enjoys ticking me off. He always has this stupid tug on his lips after getting a reaction out of me.”
“He must get that from Sabito, he’s such a troll.”
You rose an eyebrow, “He has an actual friend that he converses with? Other than you and maybe like, two other people.”
“You’d be surprised,” she twirled her curled pink hair between her fingers, “our friend group is pretty big, but those two are really close.”
“Is he the boy with the peach-colored hair and the birthmark on his cheek?”
She nodded.
“He must be just as annoying then.”
”No, he’s funny. Tomioka’s just a bit bratty.”
You laugh, “I know that’s right.”
The two of you worked through the sheet while making small talk. She mostly talked about her boyfriend, while you talked about an upcoming meeting for student government.
“Oo! You should come with me and the others to the beach this weekend.”
“If Tomioka’s going, count me out.”
She snickered, “He hasn’t responded to the groupchat about it, so he might not.”
You raised your eyebrows.
”Soo?”
”Maybe, I have work this weekend.”
She clasped her hands together, “Please go! You always make fun of Tomioka for working all the time, and here you are doing the same.”
You rolled your eyes, “Don’t lump me with that geek.”
”So that’s a yes then?”
”Sure...”
”Yay! I’ll text you about it. What’s your number?”
You pulled out your phone and let her copy your number in her contact. Going to the beach could help you relax the stress that’s been piling up for a while.
“Who’s all going?”
”Some people from our grade. I’m sure you’ll recognize them when you see them.”
You hummed. As much as you hated to admit it, you didn’t really have close friends. You busied yourself with school and working to provide some stability for your future. Your parents played a role in that factor, due to their high-paying jobs. It wasn’t like they pressured you into having such high standards, but they surely influenced you.
You thought back to when you asked if Tomioka had any hobbies, not considering your own. You didn’t play any sports, but you did involve yourself in clubs. Other than that, you didn’t do much but work and occasionally draw.
“Hey, what’s on your mind? You got all quiet.”
“Nothing,” You placed your head in your hand and tapped your pencil on your desk.
”We should go shopping after school. I need some more swimsuits.”
Now that you thought of it, you didn’t have many of your own. “I’m down, but i’d have to cancel on Tomioka.”
She giggled, “I’m sure you’re not too worried on doing that.”
”You know me too well.” You pulled out your phone and opened his contact.
Teacher
‘hey we have to cancel today’
’some plans came up’
‘?’
You rolled your eyes as you slid your phone into your skirt pocket.
“I’m so excited! We’ve never hung out outside of school before.”
You smile, “Me too.”
Once class ended, the two of you walked to each other’s lockers to switch your shoes out and exchange school items for personal ones.
“Wait, can we stop by Urokodaki’s real quick? I needed to tell Iguro something.”
“Okay.” You followed after her and patiently waited by the door.
Your eyes scanned the room, and they ended up falling on none other than your tutor.
He was sat on the ledge of a window with a peach-haired boy and a girl with a flower shaped hair-pin. The boy must’ve been Sabito, and the girl Makomo. You knew her because she was in student government.
“(Y/N)!”
‘Shit.’ You didn’t want to be spotted, but Makomo waved you over.
“What’s up Makomo?”
”What did you go over in our last meeting? I missed it because my cat had to go to the vet.”
Your eyes glanced over to Tomioka and Sabito briefly before looking back at Makomo. “I just went over some plans for our next school event. We’ll be making some banners to put around the school.”
”Ooo, what’s our next event?” Sabito chimed in, nudging Tomioka’s side.
You furrowed your eyebrows at his action, and looked at Tomioka. He had a calm expression, and you could tell he had a different personality around people he liked.
“You should know since you’re on the soccer team.”
“Ah, right, playoffs.” He placed his hands behind his head and shot his friend a sneaky look. “My friend here was just talking about you, weren’t you Tomioka.”
The blue-eyed boy scoffed, “You asked me how my tutoring was going, Sabito.”
The two gave each other knowing looks; Sabito had a smug grin on his lips.
You looked at Makomo, who was holding in a laugh. “What?”
”Oh nothing.” She bit her lip and avoided your gaze.
“Why’d you cancel our session?” Tomioka asked.
You scoffed, “I gave you a reason, did I not?”
Sabito choked out a laugh.
“No, not really.” Tomioka shot.
“Well, as I already stated, some plans came up. Okay?”
His friend hooked an arm around his shoulders and brung him in, “Awe man, bummer, right Tomioka?”
This entire interaction was weird. Sabito was definitely a troll, and you’d only been talking to him for maybe five minutes.
“Not really.” He muttered.
You rolled your eyes, “Don’t worry, i’m not too bummed about it either, Tomioka.”
Mitsuri jumped in with a cheery smile, “Hey guys! Tomioka, you never responded in the group chat, are you coming this weekend?”
“Yes, he is.” Sabito answered for him. “I’ll be there too.” He winked.
You sighed.
”Perfect!” Mitsuri clasped her hands together briefly before reaching down to grab yours. “Me and (Y/N) have to go, see you guys then.”
”See ya.” Sabito waved, and Makumo smiled. And as for Tomioka, he only stared.
Once you made it outside, you scolded Mitsuri.
”Sorry! I kind of forgot.” She had a small smile on her lips that told you otherwise.
“Liar.”
She snickered, “I have a hunch…”
“A hunch about what?”
“You’ll see.”
You squinted your eyes, “Mitsuri...”
”Where should we go? I heard this new store opened near that Mcdonald’s on the corner.” She avoided your knowing gaze.
The two of you ended up going to the new store, shopping for more than just swimsuits. You’d definitely regret this later when you looked at your bank account.
As you scanned through clothes, you thought back to the quick look Sabito gave Tomioka when you made your way over to them. They were an odd duo, that was for sure. Most of the oddness being Tomioka.
“Would this be cute on me?” Mitsuri appeared from around the corner with a hot pink two-piece.
“Very. It’ll make you pop.”
She squealed, “I hope Iguro likes it.”
You giggled. “I’m sure he will. Are you ready to check out?”
“Yup!”
After checking out, you recommended hanging out at your house since it was nearby. Mitsuri happily agreed, so the two of you took a bus to shorten the walk.
You laid out your new swimsuits on your bed, debating on which one was best. Mitsuri sat in your desk chair, spinning around with a bowl of popcorn in her lap.
“Where do you work at?”
“A coffee shop, and I hate it there.”
She giggled, “Why? That sounds so fun. Brewing coffee, making latte art—oo! And the pastries…” She reminisced at the thought.
“It’s always busy, and my manager’s an ass.” You held up a bikini to your body and looked at yourself in your mirror. It was a royal blue with seashells along the neckline.
“I love that one, it makes you pop.”
You hummed and brought a different option to your body. This one was red with mini flowers scattered across the material.
“Wait, that one’s also cute.”
You giggled and tossed them into your closet to decide later. “Maybe if I had someone I like to work with, I’d enjoy it more.”
Mitsuri perked up, “I’ll work with you!”
“As a cheerleader, i’m sure your schedule’s already filled with all sorts of things.”
She frowned, “You’re right..”
A buzz from your phone shook your hip. Then another, and another. You took it out of your skirt and scrolled through your notifications. It was from a group chat you were unaware you were added to.
“I added you while we were shopping, hope you don’t mind.”
You shook your head, “Are all the people in here going to the beach?”
”Yup, for the most part.”
There was quite a handful of people in here. You recognized all of the names since they were in your grade.
“I’m sad we became friends so late, we could’ve had so many memories by now.” She plopped down on your bed. “You know, you and Tomioka are more alike than you think.”
You gagged, “Please don’t ever say that again.”
“It’s the truth!”
“Anyways, wanna watch a movie?”
”Can we get more snacks first?”
One thing you picked up about Mitsuri was that she had a big appetite. She’d already eaten a bunch of snacks while you were out earlier, and she had an entire bowl of popcorn in her grasp. Yet, she was still hungry.
”Sure, find something while i’m gone.” You tossed her your TV remote and made your way to the kitchen.
The rest of your Thursday night was spent watching movies and painting your nails with an old friend. Mitsuri was such an upbeat character, and you liked that most about her. It made you regret taking all the way until your last year of high school to experience it.
𐮛𐮛𐮛
You watched the clock and counted down the last minute of your fourth period. Since you’d finished most of your required classes throughout your years, you had an hour long break in between your fourth period and fifth.
Usually, you’d spend it in the library eating or preparing for upcoming tests. Today you’d spend it on the roof.
This particular day, you weren’t very hungry, and you didn’t have anything to study for. And you definitely weren’t going to go over your math packet.
You took in a deep breath staring down at the courtyard. Students were scattered around the perimeter, each doing their own thing. Some were playing games, while some were doing work or simply relaxing.
It wasn’t sunny out, but it was still a refreshing day. That was until you heard a small rumble in the distance. The scent of rain started to fill your senses, and dark clouds formed.
You unraveled your uniform sleeves and brought your arms around your chest to bring more warmth from the dropping temperature. A little rain wouldn’t hurt, so you continued to stare off into the distance.
‘I should’ve worn my blazer today..’ You hummed and stared up at the sky.
Sprinkles of rain started to drop, and just before it got too bad, a voice came from beside you.
”You’ll catch a cold standing out here.”
The sound of an umbrella opening made you jump, as well as the familiar voice. It was Tomioka. You glanced up at the umbrella he held over the two of you. His voice was calm, and his eyes seemed to have curiosity in them rather than his usual emptiness.
Your eyes poured into his for a moment. And for a split second, you felt your heart flutter. “…Thanks.” You glanced up at the umbrella then back to him.
He hummed. His eyes didn’t leave yours, and yours didn’t leave his. It was weird seeing him outside of your boring tutor sessions.
“What brought you up here?” You asked.
”I have a free period.”
“Oh.” You averted your eyes away from his. For some reason, you felt anxious from holding eye contact.
The rainfall was gentle. And he made no moves to signal he wanted to leave, so you stayed. The two of you stared out at the courtyard in somewhat comfortable silence.
“You know, you’re not that bad when you’re not shooting me snarky comments.”
He huffed, “The same goes for you.”
Your eye twitched, but you didn’t respond.
“Have you-”
”No, I haven’t worked on my packet Tomioka. And I don’t ever plan too unless it’s with you.” Your words came out in a way you didn’t expect, catching you both off guard.
”…Okay.” He had a small tug on his lips and you rolled your eyes.
”What’s with that stupid grin you suck at containing?”
He shrugged his shoulders, “What grin?” His face was back to his usual blank, unreadable one.
You sighed, “You’re so annoying..”
“Like you’re any better?” He muttered.
You sucked in a deep breath and turned to him with a resentful expression. He returned it with a relaxed one.
“What?” He spat.
“You!” You threw your arms up and slapped them on your sides. “You’re such a rage bait.”
A small chuckle escaped him, “What’s that mean?”
He was clearly toying with you, and you continued to fall for it.
“You should know what it means. You’re smart aren’t you?”
”Yeah, smart enough to take your spot.” He replied with such nonchalance that it made your blood boil.
“You— ugh!” You brought your finger up to his chest, but he stopped you from forming another response by handing you the umbrella. “Huh?”
He turned around and gave you a small wave, “See you.”
You watched in disbelief as he disappeared behind the doors. How was it that he managed to get under your skin so easily without a care in the world? It infuriated you to your core, and you were starting to get fed up with it.
Once your free period ended, you sat in your last two classes plotting on how you were going to clap back this time. You weren’t going to let him get the better of you in anything else. He’d already had the upper hand by taking your spot in first, and that was bad enough.
Tomioka was such a reserved person, you couldn’t think of anything to bring him down. He didn’t play any sports—so you couldn’t sabotage him there, and he wasn’t apart of any important clubs. There was truly no way to toy with him. You couldn’t get under his skin even if you wanted to. He was too unbothered to let it affect him.
And you too would be unbothered had it been anyone else, but it just had to be him. He was almost an enemy, at this point.
”Geez (Y/N), what’s got you fuming?” Mitsuri giggled as she watched you angrily write down notes.
“You know who.” You muttered.
”Not him again,” She sighed, “you shouldn’t let him get to you. You’re smart, you’re pretty, and much more.”
“Thanks Mitsuri, but that’s not what’s important.”
She hummed, “Okay then… wanna know a secret?”
You glanced over with curiosity.
”Tomiokas never had a girlfriend, in fact, I don’t think i’ve ever seen him interact with a girl other than me and Makomo. He gets too nervous.”
“Perfect.” You smiled to yourself and already began plotting your next move.
From here on, it’d be too easy. Of course he had never interacted with a girl before. You should’ve already assumed that from his terrible communication skills and nerdy persona.
The moment class ended, you were already on your feet to head towards the library. A sly grin was plastered on your face as you made your way towards Tomioka. He was nose deep in a book, unaware of your presence.
You cleared your throat and pulled out a chair and sat uncomfortably close to him. He immediately perked up and looked at you with raised eyebrows.
”Ever heard of personal space?” He murmured.
Brushing off his comment, you pulled out what you usually did and smiled. “Sitting this close will allow me to hear you properly.”
He furrowed his eyebrows, “…Okay?”
Your tutor started off as it normally did. He’d watch you solve problems, occasionally giving you a ‘wrong’ and correcting you. However, you allowed it and simply fixed your mistakes without a fuss.
Somewhere throughout time, he shifted away from you slightly. You paused and looked at him, studying his face. He blinked a couple of times before raising an eyebrow.
”You have really pretty eyes. Has anyone ever told you that?”
You bit back a smile as you watched his face contort into a shocked expression. He stuttered out a quick no, and you pushed onwards.
“Why’d you scoot away? I told you i’m only so close so I can hear you better.” You scooted your chair over, subtly brushing your knee against his. He quickly pulled his away and you watched his shoulders tense up. It really was too easy.
He cleared his throat and relaxed his body. “(Y/N), can you focus on the packet? We’re getting off track.”
You frowned at how quick he was to regroup himself. But, you weren’t done just yet. You wanted a real reaction out of him no matter what it took. “Okay.”
The two of you sat in silence as you worked through your page. You’d occasionally glance over at him, but he avoided your gaze.
“Aren’t you going to teach me?” You tilt your head to the side and study him once more.
“You’re doing good, what do you want me to say?”
You hummed and tapped your pencil against the table. No point in beating around the bush. You wanted a reaction now. “You ever been with a girl before?”
Finally, you got him to drop his nonchalance. His cheeks slightly flushed and his shoulders tensed back up. He stuttered out another quick no, and you smirked.
”I’m not surprised.”
He furrowed his eyebrows, “Why’re you acting differently?”
“I’m not. Can I not ask you questions? We can talk about other things than math, you know.”
“I’d rather not discuss these things with you.” He straightened up and slide your packet away from you. “This one’s wrong.”
You huffed out in annoyance. As quick as you were to elect something out of him, he was just as quick to counter it.
“You didn’t reduce the fraction.” He slid it back to you with a blank expression.
“I wasn’t done.” You lie, quickly erasing your answer and fixing it.
A silence fell as you thought of another way to get at him. You were completely stumped with the guy.
You continued to try and shoot sly comments at him, but he didn’t entertain you any further. He simply ignored you or pointed out a mistake you made.
“Are you even trying?”
“Yes, Tomioka, I am.” You grunt. “Maybe if you were actually good at tutoring, I wouldn’t be struggling so much.”
“I am good at tutoring.”
You bark out a laugh, “In what universe?”
”This one, obviously.” A small tug on his lips caught your attention.
You slapped a hand on your forehead and ignored it the best you could, but he ushered you on by giving you a quick ‘wrong’.
“Okay, we’re done for today.” You quickly stood up and smoothed down your skirt.
His eyes peaked at your thighs, and you didn’t let that go unnoticed.
“Perv.” You shot.
He furrowed his eyebrows, “What? I was looking at my umbrella.”
You looked down and noticed that his umbrella was in fact near your legs. You forgot you placed it down underneath your seat earlier. You sighed and picked it up to hand to him.
He took it from you and began packing his belongings. “You should look over the problems we worked on tonight, you struggled on them the most.”
You nodded and shoved your notebook in your school bag.
The two of you exchanged looks after cleaning up your area.
“Bye.” He walked past you with his hands in his pockets.
After he left, you let out a long sigh. Although you weren’t as successful as you hoped you’d be, you weren’t going to give up. You’d one up him one way or another. And if you couldn’t math-wise, you’d find a different way.

Chapter Text
You gave yourself a final look in your full-body mirror, making sure you swimsuit fit the way you wanted it too. It came with a cute matching cover up, so you didn’t have to worry about being cold later on.
The option you chose was the royal blue two piece. Mitsuri’s insistence was a major factor in your choosing. You didn’t know why she was so adamant about the blue one, but you trusted her judgment.
“(Y/N)! Your friend is here!” Your mom shouted from downstairs, signaling it was your time to go.
You quickly packed some last minute necessities in your beach-bag and slid on some sandals.
”Bye Mom, love you.”
She planted a kiss on your cheek and gave you a quick hug, “Love you hun, be safe.”
You smiled and nodded before taking your leave.
Mitsuri greeted you with a squeal and a hug, “My car is a bit messy, but don’t mind that.” She popped open the trunk for your things, and placed them beside her cooler.
”Got anything good in here?” You hinted at the large container.
She grinned, “Oh you know, a little bit of this a little bit of that.”
You giggled and made your way to the passenger side. Mitsuri suggested she’d pick you up to avoid any awkard tension in a car filled with people you didn’t regularly talk to. And thank god she did, because you hated situations like that.
The car ride was filled with loud music and giggling. It made you glad you agreed to come with her instead of staying cooped up in your room browsing through college applications.
Once you arrived at the beach, you were greeted by one of your classmates, Rengoku. He had his muscular build on full display, and you couldn’t lie, you were definitely checking him out.
“Ah, it’s nice to see you (Y/N).” He greeted you with a smile and a wave. “Need help with your bags?”
You watched as he took the cooler with ease as well as your bag and Mitsuri’s without you giving him a confirmation. “Thank you.”
“No problem.”
The three of you made your way towards the beach towards where the others were already set up.
A girl with dark hair and purple highlights smiled and waved you over. She used to be in student government with you, but once senior year hit she left due to her residency in a clinic.
“Hey you two, the boys were about to play football and I recommended we’d start preparing some food and drinks.”
Mitsuri perked up at the mention of food and immediately began scrambling through her cooler. “Dang it, I forgot the other cooler.”
“I’ll grab it for you, where’s it at?” You offered.
”It’s in the backseat, thanks (Y/N).”
You nodded and made your way back to her car. When you attempted to grab the cooler, you were immediately dragged down by it. She must’ve had an anvil in it from how hard you struggled to pull it out. You gave a long, focused tug and ended up stumbled backward. A hard surface broke your fall, and you rubbed the back of your head as you turned to look at the source.
”What’re you doing?”
You huff, “..Tomioka.”
He wore an unbuttoned white dress shirt accompanied by royal blue trunks. His color was identical to yours, and it made you cringe. You parted your lips to shoot something at him, but your eyes dropped back down to his torso, which was shockingly toned.
“Um.” He cleared his throat.
You blinked and immediately turned back around to attempt to pull out the cooler. “What’s it look like i’m doing? I’m trying to pull this thing out..” You grunted as you continued to tug at it.
A hand was placed on your shoulder and shortly after you were pulled away. Tomioka lifted the cooler with ease and stared at you with a blank expression.
You rolled your eyes, “Okay tuff guy, I didn’t ask for your help.”
“You may not have asked, but you certainly needed it.” He rose an eyebrow.
Your eye twitched.
”Hey guys.” Sabito peaked from behind Tomioka, a sly grin on his face. “Oh, you’re matching. Was that planned?” He nudged his friend’s arm.
“No.” Tomioka spat. “Why would we match?”
You crossed your arms, “Yeah.”
Sabito laughed, “Geez, relax you two.”
A brief moment of silence fell until you closed the car door. “Since you’re so strong Tomioka, would you mind carrying that to the grills for me?”
He nodded and made his way towards the grills where Shinobu and Mitsuri were already prepping.
You stayed a step behind him, walking along side with Sabito.
“So, you like getting tutored by Giyuu?”
You bark out a laugh, “Absolutely not.” You expected a reaction to come out of the boy in front of you, but he didn’t give you one.
Sabito snickered, “You two are so alike.”
”We aren’t.” Tomioka muttered.
You stayed silent and picked up your pace to reach the grills faster.
Tomioka placed down the cooler and gave you a look; you rose an eyebrow.
“It wasn’t that heavy.”
“Oh shut up.” You waved him off.
“Thank you Tomioka!” Mitsuri smiled, “Hi Sabito.”
Sabito smiled and waved. He may be a troll, but at least he actually knows how to greet people properly.
Once the boys left, you began grilling some meat as well as vegetables. As you cooked, you couldn’t help but think back to Tomioka’s insane physique. He was least of all people you expected to have abs.
“Awe look at the boys play.” Mitsuri commented, pausing her wrapping. She was currently making rice balls.
Shinobu giggled, “Tomioka looks so out of place.”
You glanced at the said boy and watched as he caught the football. He did look out of place, but he played surprisingly played decently. “He’s so annoying..”
”Ah, so i’m not the only one?”
You snickered, “Definitely not.”
She hummed and joined you at your grill, helping you flip the meat and vegetables; sprinkling some seasoning across the food. “How’ve you been, (Y/N)? It feels like I never see you.”
“I’ve been pretty good, other than the fact i’m being tutored..” You sighed. “You’ll never guess by who.”
“Don’t tell me Tomika’s tutoring you.” She laughed, “How’d that happen?”
You angrily picked at the meat with your spatula. “He scored higher than me on the math exams last year and took my spot.”
“Poor you, i’m sure it’s miserable being tutored by him.” She patted your shoulder.
Mitsuri frowned, “C’mon you guys.”
“It’s whatever I guess. He won’t be first for long.”
“I look forward to seeing you taking back your spot.” She smiled.
The three of you finished up preparing the food, and once plated, Mitsuri called the boys over. You busied yourself with cleaning off the grills while the others dug in.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” A boy stood beside you as you cleaned. He had a massive plate of food, and you could smell the salty water from the ocean coming off of him, as well as sweat.
You peaked over and recognized his rather distinct face. It was Tengen, leader of the art club and soccer player.
“I was going to after I tidied up.” You glanced down at his plate. “How is it.”
”Delicious. Thank you.” He winked.
You bit back a smile. “No problem.”
“I’ll make you a plate, how’s that sound?”
He was definitely a flirtatious person. You knew that because of his history with girls. The guy literally had three girlfriends. Not to mention his built form and handsome face.
“It’s not biggie, i’m almost done here anyways.”
He nodded and walked away, leaving you to finish up.
Once you snagged a plate, you sat down on your towel with the girls and watched the boys continue their game.
“Why does Tengen have three girlfriends?” You mumbled between chews.
Mitsuri brought a piece of meat to her lips and took a massive bite, “Umm I dunno, but I get it. The guys hot.”
”Mitsuri, dear, you have a boyfriend.” Shinobu commented.
“Obanai is more than just my boyfriend, he’s the love of my life.”
You and Shinobu exchanged glances, and you quickly brought a rice ball to your mouth to contain your laughter.
It felt surreal to be sitting on the beach with so many people you never imagined to hang out with. You liked the feeling, though. The day was perfect. A break from school, work, and your stupid tutor sessions. It was all too good to be true.
You’d have to thank Tomioka for being the spark to yours and Mitsuri’s friendship growing again. But definitely not now, maybe a couple of years down the road after he was out of your life.
“Hey, you three! Let’s go!” Rengoku rushed over to you three and ushered you towards the sand courts.
You tried to fight back, but he dragged you regardless of your protest.
“Alright, first to fifteen wins!” Tengen announced.
There were two teams, red and blue. The game was simple; it was volleyball.
Your team consisted of Rengoku, Obanai, and Shinobu, while the other team consisted of Sabito, Sanemi, Tomioka, and Tengen. Mitsuri, being the cheerleader she was, was the score keeper and hype person.
Your team lacked in height, but with yours and Shinobu’s intelligence combined, it leveled out.
Across the net from you stood Tomioka. You stared at him with squinted eyes while he stared back with a relaxed face.
“What?” He shot.
”Nothing, just be prepared to lose.”
Rengoku slung an arm around you, and you grunted at his sheer strength. “Trash talking the opponents (Y/N)? I love it!”
A boy with platinum blonde hair chimed in and clung at the net with a devious grin, “You really think we’re gonna let a bunch of lames win?” He barked out a laugh, “You’ve got nothing but brains, (Y/N).”
You scoffed. “At least I have some.” You were shocked he spoke to you considering the two of you rarely ever conversed in or out of school. Then again, you had known of each other since kindergarten. But that also went for everyone else.
He blinked a couple of times, and Tomioka let out a low chuckle. “The fuck are you laughing at, nerd?”
“Get ready!” Tengen shouted from behind the serving line, tossing the ball in the air. He followed it with a quick, hard serve, catching you off guard.
The ball brushed by your face with force, and landed on your side. Resulting in the Red Teams first point.
“Ooo!” Tengen clicked his tongue and waved at you teasingly, “Hope I didn’t hit that pretty face of yours (Y/N).”
You let out a small giggle from how dumb he sounded rather than falling for his attempted flirting. But, if he kept trying you might.
“One to zero, Red Team!” Mitsuri cheered.
Sanemi smirked, “What was that about being prepared to lose?”
”Quit going back and forth, let’s play already!” Sabito chimed in.
You rolled your eyes and stepped back, getting ready for the next serve. You weren’t new to the sport. Volleyball wasn’t that hard when you thought about it. All you had to do was keep the ball in play.
Tengen served again, and this time your team managed to get the ball up. Thanks to Obanai, that is.
“Here, (Y/N).” Shinobu set you up, and you frantically tried to make an approach. In the sand it was much harder to do so.
You slapped at the ball with all your might, but on the other side, Tomioka loomed over you. He blocked your attempt with ease, but Rengoku was quick to follow up, keeping the ball in play.
“Why don’t you target somebody else, huh?” You shot.
”Where’s the fun in that?”
And there it was. That small tug on his lips he tried so hard to contain. It was almost as if he was allergic to smiling. To be honest, you wouldn’t be surprised if he was.
You ignored him for the time being, and quickly bumped the ball over to Shinobu. She skillfully shot it in a deep corner, gaining a point. Sanemi was face down in the sand at his awful attempt of digging it up, and he cursed at no one in particular as he stood up.
“You’re supposed to bump the ball, Shinazugawa!” Shinobu called out, earning giggles from the others.
“Shut the hell up and serve it already! I’ll be sure to ‘bump the ball’ this time.” A scary grin formed on his face, and you almost felt frightened by it.
Obanai served the ball over, and you rallied back in fourth for a while before Rengoku put it end to it. He slammed the ball down on the other side, gaining a point.
“Nice shot,” Obanai clasped hands with Rengoku. “Here, (Y/N). Your serve.”
You nodded and took the ball, making your way to the service line. Now, you weren’t the best at serving, so you hoped you could make it over.
The wind picked up as you tossed the ball in the air, and you lost your balance as you swung.
‘Shit.’
Your serve flew directly into the net, hitting Tomioka dead in the face from how close he was standing to it. He instantly fell backwards while cusping his nose.
“Damn!” Tengen laughed.
Shinobu patted her hand on your back, “Nice shot.”
As much as you wanted to laugh, you weren’t a heartless human being. So you made your way over to the other side and cautiously knelt down to his level. He had his hand covering the lower half of his face, and you could see blood trickling down his chin.
You gasped, “Fuck, i’m so sorry. Let me help.”
Sanemi scoffed, “Oh he’s fine. Quit being dramatic, Tomioka.”
”He’s bleeeding!” Mitsuri squealed and ran to Obanai.
He held his free hand up in protest, but you rolled your eyes and dragged him upwards.
“Just let me help, okay?”
“Okay…” He muttered.
“Don’t be gone for too long now.” Sabito spoke with a sly grin.
You didn’t reply, and instead began walking towards Mitsuri’s car in hopes of her having a first aid kit. And luckily, she did.
He rested his back against her car and awaited your aid. You brought his hand away from his face and you bit back a giggle. He had a small pout on his face, and his eyes were avoiding yours.
”Sorry, the wind made me lose my footing..” You whispered while patting away the blood that smeared across his lips.
A small tension formed as you stared at his lips. You felt his gaze on you, but you were too scared to look up. So you continued patting away the blood. When you reached his nasal area, a hiss escaped him.
Your eyes flicked up to his, and you felt your heart flutter. His sapphire eyes were much prettier up close.
“Does it hurt?” You mutter, but your mind wasn’t focused on his nose. In fact, it wasn’t focused on anything. You were just in the moment.
He hummed. His eyes briefly looked down to your hand that was planted on his chest for stability. You followed his path and quickly brought that hand to your side.
“That wasn’t a yes or a no, Tomioka.”
His eyes poured into yours and you could tell he was thinking of something. But what it was, you didn’t know.
“It stings a little, but it’s probably still sensitive. Were you purposely aiming at me?”
A small giggle escaped from you, but this was one wasn’t out of sarcasm like all the other times you laughed at him. “No. I said I was sorry, you know.”
You brought a small cotton roll to his bleeding nostril and gently placed it in.
“…Thank you.” A small flush was apparent on his cheeks, and you smirked.
”You’re welcome.”
After packing up the kit, the two of you made your way back to the sand court and continued on with the game.
The intensity never left, and you were nearly breaking a sweat from jumping around so much. Sanemi was clearly a try hard, but luckily you had Rengoku on your team. He was just as fierce.
“Set point for Red Team!” Mitsuri announced.
You wiped the sweat off your forehead and locked in. Apparently, the losers had to take a shot. You weren’t entirely against it, but you certainly didn’t want to lose. Especially since Tomioka would be the one winning.
“(Y/N)!” Rengoku called out. “Right here, set it high!”
You grunted as you set the ball up with the last of your strength. This game was a wake up call for you in the stamina department. You were practically panting like a dog. Then again, the people you were playing against were almost all involved in a sport. So they were bound to have more strength and endurance.
Rengoku jumped so high he almost reached over the net. However, Tengen towered over him and blocked his spike.
Obanai came from behind and saved the ball with his foot. Shinobu followed it up, and set you the ball.
“Make it count (Y/N)!” Sanemi yelled, but you didn’t let him catch you off guard.
You pushed the ball into an empty spot on the court, and scored a point.
Shinobu smiled and held her hand up for a high-five. You clapped hands with her, and shortly after you being rose into the air by muscular arms.
”Way to go (Y/N)!” Rengoku cheered, swaying you around like you were nothing but a piece of paper.
You nervously laughed as he placed you down, “Thanks guys.”
“Now, make up for your last serve.” Obanai tossed you the ball.
He was right. You had to make up for your lost point.
You took a deep breath and served the ball into a deep corner.
“Bad placement (Y/N)! Have you forgotten who’s over here—”
Sanemi attempted to receive the ball, but Tomioka seemed to have the same intent. They ended up bumping into each other, costing them the game.
“Tomioka you dumbass! I was obviously going for it.” Sanemi threw his hands up into the air and began cursing random things towards him.
“Relax, it’s just a game.” Tomioka stood up and dusted off his shorts, walking away from the situation.
“Congratulations Blue Team! Red Team, now’s your time for punishment!” Mitsuri rubbed her hands together before scurrying off towards her cooler.
Even though your team was victorious, you all ended up with a shot of something in hand.
“To (Y/N), our new addition.” Mitsuri winked.
You grew flushed as everyone looked at you. “Mitsuri…”
“To (Y/N).” Rengoku smiled, causing the others to follow after. Even Tomioka raised his cup, despite it not being filled with alcohol. Sanemi mumbled something to himself, but still rose his glass in honor of you.
After clanking your red solo cups together, you dipped your head back and downed your drink. You trusted Mitsuri in making it, and after drinking it, you wished you didn’t. It tasted like straight vodka.
“Jesus Mitsuri, what’d you put in this?” Your nose scrunched up at the slight sting in your throat.
“Oh you know, a little bit of this, a little bit of that.” She giggled.
Everyone took their respected spots on their towels, some bunched up with others while some were doing their own thing. You were sat with Rengoku and Mitsuri, talking about upcoming tests in school, and just life in general. Rengoku was currently shadowing a teacher and getting his hours in for a program, and Mitsuri was doing the same. Except, hers was for culinary.
“(Y/N) cleaned you up pretty nicely, huh? Don’t think I didn’t see you blushing when you came back.”
Your ears perked up, and you subtly glanced over towards where Sabito and Tomioka were sat. They were only a couple of inches away from you.
Tomioka caught your eye and immediately leaned in closer to Sabito, mumbled something you couldn’t make out. Then, Sabito glanced over and grinned, leaning in to mutter something back. You furrowed your eyebrows, but brushed it off and joined back in on your previous conversation.
You ended up grabbing another drink, and by this point you started to feel a slight buzz.
Mitsuri slung her body over your legs and let out a long sigh, “I’m spent.”
You giggled, “Me too…”
“Mitsuri, who do you plan on driving with?” Obanai appeared and sat down beside his girlfriend.
”(Y/N), duh.”
“No, you’ve both been drinking.”
She shot up, “Yeah, but i’m fine.”
He shook his head and shot you a look, “What do you plan on doing?”
You formed a line with your lips and hummed. You hadn’t really thought of your driving situation.
“Tomioka can drive her home, and I can drive Mitsuri home since you came with sanemi, right Obanai?” Sabito chimed in and gave you a devious look. He was always up to something fishy, and you didn’t get why.
Obanai hummed, “I suppose that’s fine since Sanemi drank as well. It’ll all work out.”
You held up your hands, “W-Wait, what? I. can drunk, I mean— drive.”
Mitsuri giggled, “You sure? I think what Sabito suggested is smart. That way everyone can drive home safely.” She nudged your stomach, and shot you a knowing look while mouthing ‘hunch’.
You rolled your eyes, “Tomioka didn’t even agree to this.”
”I don’t mind.” He said simply. Almost too simply.
“Alright then, let’s start cleaning up.” Obanai lifted himself up along with Mitsuri and walked away, leaving you no time to properly discuss the plan.
You shot Tomioka a look, but he was already busy cleaning up his area. Your eyes traced down his body and stopped just before the waistband of his trunks. His v-line was peaking out.
“What?” He spat, causing you to jump upwards.
“W-What? I was, um—“ You began rolling up your beach towel and shoving it into your beach bag. It made you annoyed that you were finding yourself staring at him more than you’d like to admit. “Are you sure you’re fine with driving me back? I could-”
”There’s really no one else, so I don’t really care..” He replied, his tone flat.
You wanted to take back the small glances you gave him and the kindness you gave him while cleaning up his nose.
Scoffing, you slung your bag over your shoulder, “Okay.”
After saying your goodbyes, you shoved your things into the back of his car, and debated on sitting there as well rather than the front. Your thought was cut short as Tomioka tossed his bags onto the seats, giving you no room. So much for that idea.
Once you sat down in the passenger side, you were immediately hit with his signature scent. And you felt ashamed to enjoy it.
His car had a black interior with ambient lighting. Its design was sleek, but that was a given since it was a Nissan Altima.
“Where do you live?”
You typed in your address into his maps, and the carplay began reading out the instructions.
He placed the car in reverse, and gripped onto the back of your headrest as he backed out. You felt your heart flutter from how close he was to you. While his hand was on the headrest, the other managed the wheel. Swiftly turning it at an angle to efficiently make it out of his spot without error.
”You have a camera, why didn’t you use that?” You shot.
He glanced down at you, and you quickly looked away to avoid his intimidating gaze. A small tug was on his lips once he sat straight.
“Because I didn’t want to?”
You rolled your eyes and stared out the window. The drive was mostly silent, aside from the small tunes that came from the audio and the instructions the map gave.
At a red light, you contemplating trying to spark a conversation. You glanced over and noticed he had taken out the cotton roll.
“How’s your nose?”
He peaked over at you briefly before focusing back onto the road. “Fine. Thanks.”
You hummed and looked back out the window, noting to never try that again. He was still as boring as ever, despite the fun you all experienced previously.
Once you reached your house, you were quick to grab your belongings. Tomioka waited on the hood of his car, watching as you closed his car door.
The two of you gave each other a final look, and as you twisted on your heel to walk away, he called out your name.
“What?”
A small tug formed on his lips, “Make sure to look over your packet tonight.”
Despite all the times he’s told you that before, this time felt playful. You sighed, and you could feel a laugh brewing. “Bye Tomioka.”
“Have a good night, (Y/N).” He muttered, slipping back into his car.
You walked back into your house with a small smile, and you pulled out your phone to thank him for driving you back. You couldn’t bring yourself to say it in person due to your stubbornness.
To your surprise, Giyuu Tomioka was starting to become tolerable. Just barely, though.
Notes:
this chapter was so fun to write!!
it was my way to cope with how the series ends. 😔
W Sabito 😉
Chapter 4: Tension and Playful Bickering
Notes:
some important info: A Bunkasai is a festival Japan does as a cultural event instead of doing school dances like American schools. Students transform their classroom—or other rooms— into an attraction using their own creativity. I’ll explain further once I publish the chapter containing the festival.
Hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text
For lunch you decided to go to the rooftop. This time there weren’t any dark clouds, but the same boy from last time was there. He beat you to it.
”Trying to take my lunch spot, Tomioka?” You stand next to him with your arms crossed.
He was leaned over the railing with his arms dangling over the edge. Your eyes fell to his forearms, which carried some muscle. It made you wonder if he worked out considering he didn’t play any sports. There was no way he did, though. He was always nose deep in books and notes.
“This is a public area, you don’t own it.” He muttered.
Your Monday was going good up until you ran into him, but that wasn’t a shocker to you.
Rolling your eyes, you huff and turn on your heel to leave.
”Why’re you leaving?”
You paused and turned around. “Because you’re here, obviously.”
He shrugged his shoulders, “Okay.”
There was a moment of hesitation when you turned back around. You weren’t going to leave because he was here. This was your go-to spot on days you didn’t feel like eating.
You turned around again and made your way to the railing, a couple of inches away from him.
He glanced at you, but you paid him no mind.
“I think you fractured my nose.”
You scoffed, “I don’t have the arm strength to do something like that.”
The two of you looked at each other, and he had a small tug on his lips. He was messing with you.
“You’re so annoying.”
He huffed and looked back at the courtyard, and you did the same.
”You’re a bad driver, you know.”
”Bad enough to get my license?” He shot.
“Your instructor must’ve been very lenient.”
A small chuckle escaped him, “Okay, (Y/N).”
”Why’re you even up here? I’ve been coming up here for years, and never saw you until now.”
He hummed, “Because I knew you’d be up here.”
You opened your mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He looked at you, and you looked at him. You couldn’t tell what he meant. Either he was saying that to try and tick you off since he now knew this was your spot, or he simply just wanted to be in your presence.
Despite your curiosity as to why, you decided to ignore it.
“You’re strange, you know that?” You mumbled.
𐮛𐮛𐮛
Mrs. Ubyuashiki passed back your homework papers and announced an upcoming test.
You stared at the 9.5/10 on your paper and cringed. Of course you forgot to change the sign on your answer.
She ended up giving your class the hour to work on your study guide, but you spent your time talking to Mitsuri. You knew that you’d work on it later during your tutor session.
“I’m so scared for this test,” Mitsuri grumbled as she stared down at her study guide, “do you get any of this?”
You shook your head, “Let’s not forget i’m getting tutored in this subject…”
”Oh yeah,” she sighed, “how was your drive home with him?” A mischievous glint was in her eyes.
”What do you think? It was with Tomioka for heavens sake.”
She giggled, “I would’ve thought your dislike towards him would die down, but you’re staying strong.”
“Hell yeah I am. He literally took my getaway spot.”
“You guys are so enemies to lovers coded.” She smiled. “I can already imagine how it’ll play out.”
You scoffed, “Keep imagining, cause nothings going to happen.”
”Sure…”
Once your class ended, you made your way towards the cafeteria to quickly go over some things in your student government meeting. With the upcoming soccer playoffs Friday, you needed to make banners and come up with a date for your schools annual Bunkasai.
“How about we just do it Friday?” Murata suggested.
You nodded, “That’s fine. I’ll tell Mr. Ubuyashiki about it.”
”I bought some paint and decorations, when should we start?” Makomo added.
”As soon as possible. You guys can start forming some ideas for the banners, and i’ll talk to the teachers about using their classrooms for the festival. We’ll also need some flyers to support the event so we can use the funding towards the playoffs.”
Your group agreed and began naming off some ideas to help. As you were writing their ideas down, you felt your phone constantly buzz in your skirt pocket.
Teacher
‘If you’re going to cancel, you should let me know before hand.’
’Its an inconvenience for me to sit in the library and wait for someone who doesn’t communicate well.’
’I wasn’t canceling.’
’Sorry you have to wait an extra ten minutes? lol’
*Teacher has shared their location with you*
’Why’d you do that?’
’I’ve already made my way to my home.’
’If you want to still meet, you can come over.’
You stuffed your phone back in your pocket and contemplated your situation. You didn’t want to go to his house just for a lame tutor session, but you did have a test tomorrow that you didn’t want to fail. Even if you did have a good understanding of what you were doing, you still wanted to extra confirmation.
“I’ll see you guys tomorrow, okay? If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a text.”
After saying your goodbyes, you made your way towards the train station. His house wasn’t too far, so it wouldn’t hurt to squeeze in a quick walk-through of your study guide.
You couldn’t lie, you were slightly nervous of going to his house. You didn’t want his family to get the wrong idea.
Once you arrived, you took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
A girl answered it, and she looked just like Tomioka. She was very pretty.
She had a slight tilt in her face, and she had a look of confusion. “Hi?”
”Hey, I’m here for Tomioka.”
Her eyebrows raised, “O-Oh, are you his girlfriend?” A look of excitement rose on her face.
You choked out a laugh, “God no. He’s my tutor.”
She nodded, “I see, come in.”
The girl told you her name was Tsutako, and that she was Tomioka’s older sister. She was much more different than him. She was more talkative and cheery.
“I hope my brother isn’t too much, I know he can be a bit, um, i’m sure you know.” She giggled.
You smiled, “He’s definitely an interesting individual.”
“What’re you doing Tsutako?” Tomioka appeared from around the corner with a towel draped across his shoulders. His hair was damp, and you surprised to see it down. You’d never seen him in such a relaxed state. He wasn’t dressed up, and he looked different.
You found yourself staring at him, and he shot you a look with furrowed eyebrows. “What?”
Tsutako slapped his arm, “Quit it, she’s here for your tutoring.”
He rubbed his arm, “I’m aware. I was the one that invited her.”
His sister rolled her eyes, “I miss when you were little.” She turned to you and smiled slightly. “It was nice to meet you (Y/N).”
You smiled back, and watched as she disappeared into the house.
His house was well kept, and slightly modern. Pictures of him and his family were hung around the walls, and you found yourself staring at a younger picture of Tomioka. His hair was short, and he had a big smile plastered on his face.
“I didn’t know you could smile, Tomioka.” You tease and point at the picture.
He sighed and walked past you, pausing at the staircase, “Aren’t you coming?”
You crossed your arms, “Aren’t you going to properly treat your guest? You invited me over, it’s only right.”
His eyebrows furrowed, “You’re the one that took so long. Help yourself.” He made his way upstairs and left you standing in the living room.
You didn’t feel it was just to make your own food in someone else’s house, especially since you weren’t exactly friends with the person either. So, you decided to use the restroom before making your way up the stairs.
There were multiple rooms to choose from, and you guessed his room was the one with the door open. You slowly peaked in and observed the room.
He was sat at his desk looking over papers, and his hair that was once down was now tied into a low bun. You were kind of bummed he put it up, but you kept that to yourself.
“Are you going to keep staring or sit?”
Your eye twitched, “Well you weren’t saying anything. You just invited me over and expect me to know what to do.”
“What else would we do.” He shot.
A silence followed shortly after. The hairs on the back of your neck began to stand. He glanced back at you with low-hooded eyes, and you felt like a deer in headlights. He had his glasses on.
“You okay?”
You blinked a couple of times and shook yourself out of your daze. You didn’t like how he was making you feel; it was weird.
“I have a test tomorrow, here’s the study guide.” You scrambled through your school bag and handed him the paper.
He twisted around in his chair and took the paper from you, briefly glancing over it. His glasses hung low on his nose, and his legs were spread wide. You sucked in a breath and averted your eyes away from him. The awards hung on his wall were starting to become very interesting to look at.
“(Y/N),”
You turned your head back and hummed. His eyes looked up at you through his eye lashes, and you felt a flutter in your stomach.
“Why don’t you have anything done?” He flipped the sheet towards you.
”I assumed we could work through it during our session.” Your voice came out weaker than you intended, and you quickly straightened yourself up. “Why’s it matter?”
He sighed and stood up from the chair, now towering over you. His scent was refreshing, and his skin seemed to glow from the sunlight that peaked through his shades. You swallowed the lump that formed in your throat, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look away.
“You’re red.” He pointed out.
“I’m hot..” You lie, nudging off your blazer.
He walked past you, and you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding in. “We can work in the office.”
“Okay.”
The two of you walked to the room just across from his, and set up there. You began working on the first problem, mostly going off of instinct.
”Am I doing this right?”
He hummed, causing you to look up. He had a slight hang in his shoulders, and his eyes were focused on something else.
”If you didn’t want to run a session today, you could’ve said so.”
”I do.” His eyes fixed onto you, “You were the one that changed our course.”
You rolled your eyes, “I had a meeting, didn’t I already say that?”
”You could’ve mentioned it.”
”And you could’ve waited.”
The two of you stared at each other, but there wasn’t any annoyance behind your tones. However, there was a tension. You sucked in a breath and clutched your pencil tighter.
“You’re red again.” A small tug formed on his lips.
If he was going to tease, so were you.
You tilted your head to the side and observed him, “How’s your nose?”
”Sore, thanks to you.”
You leaned in, pausing just before his face. His eyes slightly widened, and you smirked. “Looks fine to me. No fractures or bruising.” Your eyes circled around his face, taking in his features.
He cleared his throat, “What’d you get for the first one..”
You snickered and backed away, showing him your answer. “You’re red.”
”I’m hot.”
“You sure? You’re only wearing a T-shirt and shorts.” You point out, glancing down at his waist, then back up at him.
He ignored your jab and slid your paper towards him. “You seem to know what you’re doing, so why’d you come over?”
In all honesty, you did know what you were doing and didn’t need his help.
“Just wanted your confirmation, that’s all.”
He scoffed, “Seems like you do like my teaching, then.”
“And it seems like you like to do it. You invited me over, after all. You could’ve simply told me that we could just meet tomorrow.” You inch forward again, leaning your weight onto your hands that were planted on the table.
His gaze was unwavering, but you saw the way his shoulders tensed up. You knew you were getting to him, no matter how hard he was trying to hide it.
“Still hot?” You smirk.
He slid your paper back between your hands, maintaining eye contact. “Finish the sheet.”
You let out a laugh and leaned back, “We’re planning on hosting a Bunkasai Friday, maybe you can use your nerdy skills to make an attraction for the event.”
“I’m not a nerd.”
“You literally do nothing but study, even Mitsuri said that.” You shot. “You’re a geek, Tomioka.”
He crossed his arms and stayed silent, and you continued to work through the paper. You felt his eyes on you, and you occasionally looked up from time to time to meet them. And you hated the flutter feeling you got each time.
“I do other things than just study, you know.”
You scoff, “We’ve talked about this before, and you never gave me insight on what you do. So, no, I don’t know.”
”I work out, I cook, and I design.”
”Cooking doesn’t count, everyone does that.”
”I’m more skilled than you think.”
You paused your working and glanced up at him, “What do you design?”
”Anything. My parents work for a business that requires a lot of designing, so naturally, I found myself doing some.”
You hummed, “Okay then, maybe you do other things than study. You’re still a geek, though.”
A chuckle escaped him, “And you’re not? Look at you, you’re here getting extra help just to take your spot back.”
Your eye twitched, “There’s a difference.”
”How so?”
“I don’t need to explain.” You didn’t have an explanation to give him, but you knew that you were different from him and that’s all that mattered.
You made it to the last problem without struggle, and Tomioka didn’t give any of his signature ‘wrong’s. There was a silence as you worked through your final equation, and you started to feel anxious from his constant gaze.
“Why don’t you show me your amazing cooking skills?”
”I told you to help yourself.”
You hesitated, “..I was too nervous to make something.”
He hummed, “Okay. What do you want?”
”Surprise me.”
You waited patiently in the office, scrolling through your phone and working on a couple of problems in your packet to help pass up time. The scent of salmon and seasonings found your nose, and you could feel your stomach rumble. Your curiosity of what he was making got the best of you, so you made your way down the stairs.
Tomioka and his sister moved around the kitchen, but Tsutako was only there to grab a drink.
“You like her?” She asked.
They must’ve not noticed you were there, but you didn’t exactly announce your presence.
“What makes you ask that?”
”I mean, you’re cooking for her. You don’t even do that for Sabito.”
You felt your stomach flutter. “What’re you making, Tomioka?” You didn’t want her questioning to go further. You were too scared to see what he’d say back. Though, it probably wouldn’t have been anything worth being nervous about.
Tsutako grinned at you before glancing back at Tomioka, “I’ll see you later ‘yu, I have to pick up the kids. Love you.” She planted a quick kiss on his cheek, despite his avoidance.
“Love you too…” He muttered as he stirred the pot of unknown goods.
She gave you a nod as she walked by, and you returned it before settling against the kitchen island. “So, back to my question earlier.”
”Simmered Salmon Daikon.”
You hummed, “It smells good.”
He didn’t reply, but you didn’t mind. You watched quietly as he prepared the dish. The scent only got stronger now that you were closer, and so did your hunger. You felt bad to ask him to make you something, but, again, it was only fair since he invited you over.
“Why aren’t you working on your packet?”
You sighed, “I can’t work on an empty stomach.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t have gone to the rooftop for lunch, then. It’s not good to skip meals.”
“I don’t skip meals, I just didn’t expect a pit stop at my tutors house. Otherwise, I would’ve eaten on my way home.”
He hummed, “Unorganized…”
“That not being unorganized.” You argue.
“It kind of is.”
“It’s not.”
”Okay.”
You roll your eyes even though he can’t see you, because you knew he had a tug on his lips. You could tell from the tone of his voice.
“You and Tsutako are so un-alike, it’s crazy.”
“Yeah, we’re two different people.” A hint of sass was in his tone, and he turned around to place down two bowls on the counter.
Your eye twitched at how unbothered he was. But when was he not.
He poured the dished into your bowl and slid you some chopsticks.
“Thanks.” You mutter, excitedly picking up your chopsticks.
The food looked delicious, and you wasted no time in digging in—not caring about how hot it was.
“Careful, it’s still hot.” He warned, but you ignored him and continued to eat.
It burned your tongue as you ate, however, the taste was so good you couldn’t bring yourself to stop. “This is so good.” You whisper without much of a thought.
Tomioka admired you for a moment before focusing on his own food, “Thank you.”
A comfortable silence fell as the two of you enjoyed your meals; You more than him.
You wanted to ask what inspired him to learn how to cook, but you had a feeling he’d give you some half-assed responses. So, you decided not to.
“I can tell you want to ask me something, say it.”
“Huh?”
He sighed, “You get all quiet, and you form a line with your lips.
“Okay, weirdo, I do have a question.” He furrowed his eyebrows at your insult, but urged you to continue. “What inspired you to learn how to cook?”
”Nothing, really. My parents and sister are rarely home, so I had to learn.”
You groan, “That’s it?”
“Yeah?”
”There’s absolutely no other reasons? No sparks? Nothing?”
He shrugged his shoulders.
“Whatever,” You placed your chopsticks in your now empty bowl, “thanks again for the food. It was delicious.”
”No problem.” He grabbed your dishes and placed them in the sink, rinsing them off.
You checked your phone and realized how late it had been, so you decided to take your leave. After grabbing your belongings, you slid on your shoes and headed for the door.
“Wait,” Tomioka came down the stairs with your blazer in hand.
You took it from him and gave him a half-smile. The two of you had a stare off before he spoke up.
“Do you want me to drive you back? It’s not safe to be out this late.”
You laugh, “Awe, you’re worried about me?”
“Just answer the question.” He sighed.
“You answer mine first.”
He stared at you with an annoyed expression before turning around to head back up the stairs. You smirked before making your way outside. It wouldn’t be your first time walking home late by yourself. Even so, you carried pepper spray in your school bag just in case.
You only made it to the sidewalk before hearing a familiar voice call out to you.
”Get in.” He gestured his head towards his car. His clothes were changed into more warmer ones, and he had his keys in hand.
“I was only kidding, Tomioka. You don’t need to waste your gas. My house is—”
“Just get in the car, (Y/N).” He made his way to the driver side and slid into his car.
Your option of turning him down was dismissed from the sound of his engine starting.
The drive to your house was quiet, but it was peaceful. You’d feel his eyes linger on you from time to time, but you continued to stare out the window.
You thought of how your day went, and how your interactions with Tomioka were different than usual. Sure, you clashed, but there was a strange tension floating around. Even now you could feel it.
“We’re here.”
You snapped out of your daze, “I’m surprised you remembered the way.”
“You’re not too far from me.”
You hummed and opened your car door, pausing before closing it. You leant down and gave him a look, “If I fail my test tomorrow, I blame you.”
He shook his head and held in what seemed to be a laugh. “Goodnight.”
“Night.”
Your heart beat slightly faster as you opened the door to your home. Tomioka was starting to ignite something in you, and you hated that you liked it.

Chapter Text
A stressful week of planning, decorating, and constant moving left you drained. You ended up moving the date of the Bunkasai twice, now.
“Where should I put the flyers, (Y/N)?” Makomo appeared in front of you with a handful of flyers. They didn’t match your specific instructions of detailing, but you were too annoyed to mention it.
“Around the perimeter of the school should be fine. We want as much people to come as possible.”
She nodded and walked away, leaving you to finish up writing some things down in your planner. This event would cost a lot, so you needed as much profit as possible. And being the organizer of the event, you had to make sure everything went according to plan.
“Hey! I brought some snacks,” Mitsuri smiled as she plopped down next to you, “how’s the planning going?”
You gave her a quick smile and thanks before brining a chip to your mouth. “Stressful, but i’m managing. Thank you for helping out.”
“Of course babes. We have a week off from cheer because of this event, anyways.”
You hummed and continued to write down some ideas while tossing some chips into your mouth. Mitsuri was busying herself by making some decorations for your stand.
The three of you—Shinobu, Mitsuri, and you—deciding on creating a cafe stand. It was simple, and you were sure it’d gain a lot of attention. Who didn’t like sweet treats as well as sweet drinks and coffees?
“Shit,” You cursed as you pulled out your phone to check the time. Ten minutes had passed since the set time you set with your tutor. “Sorry Mitsuri, I have to get going.”
She shook her head, “Don’t you worry (Y/N), Shinobu should be stopping by soon. We’ve got it all under control.” She gave you a sweet smile, and your tense shoulders dropped momentarily.
“Ugh, I could kiss you guys.” You joke, and she giggled. “See ya, and thanks again.”
”Of course, have a good day (Y/N).”
You waved her goodbye and made your way to the library. It was extremely crowded from everyone coming up with ideas for their own stands and attractions. You were glad to see everyone so excited to take part, but it started to become too much for your plate to handle.
Tomioka was nose deep in a book, per usual, and you were just two steps away from sitting down.
”(Y/N)! How’s this idea sound? Think it’ll gain some attention?” An underclassman, Inosuke Hashibira held up a messily drawn sketch of his attraction in your face.
You blinked and brought your hand up to bring his down, “You’re not creating a human catapult, Hashibira.”
He huffed out in annoyance, “But—”
”No buts. Come up with something else, okay?” You pushed past him and sighed as you sat down beside Tomioka. He was already looking at you, and he seemed to alreayd have a small tug on his lips. “What?” You spat.
“How’s the planning going?”
You and him both knew the answer. Each time you’d meet with him for your sessions, you were interrupted by students coming up to you with new ideas.
“Let’s just get this over with.” You pull out your packet as well as your planner and a pencil.
He guided you through some problems, but your mind was so clouded with thoughts you kept messing up. He’d point out your errors, and you brush him off or roll your eyes, fixing your mistakes.
You switched from your packet to your planner occasionally whenever a new idea popped in your brain.
“(Y/N),” He reached his hand across your space and slid your packet away from you.
”Hey—“
”Don’t stress yourself out more than you need to. If you want to go over some more things for the Bunkasai, we can do that instead.”
You looked up from the table towards him and sighed. For once, he seemed slightly concerned. Just slightly. “What’re you doing for your stand?”
“Sabito and I are doing a ramen shop in Urokodaki’s.”
“Sounds pretty difficult, you sure you can do it?” You scribbled his idea down into your planner, alongside your other classmates ideas. You liked to have an image of what everyone else was doing.
He scoffed, “I’m sure.”
You squinted your eyes at him, “Confident, huh?”
“Yeah, you’re not?” He had a raised eyebrow that made your eye twitch.
”I’m more than confident. In fact, i’m sure my stand will gain more attention than yours.”
He shrugged his shoulders, “Okay.”
Rolling your eyes, you tap your pencil against the table in thought. His shop was a good idea, and you started to think how yours could top his.
“What’re you doing?”
“A coffee shop with Mitsuri and Shinobu.”
He hummed, “Interesting.”
“Why do you say that?” You furrow your eyebrows.
”No reason.”
The rest of your afternoon was spent brainstorming, while Tomioka did his own things. He’d occasionally add in to help, but you waved him off each time, not wanting it.
Student after student would come up to you, showing you their designs. You’d either smile and approve of them, or just give a simple nod. You were too overwhelmed with everything to give actual responses. Tests were piling up, your job was constantly asking you to pick up shifts, and Math was starting to becoming even more confusing.
Your stomach rumbled quite loudly, and Tomioka glanced over. The chips Mitsuri gave you earlier were left in the cafeteria, and you didn’t have the time to eat lunch today.
“Let’s go.” Tomioka began packing his things.
”Go where?”
“Eat.” He gestured you to follow after him.
You contemplated between staying and leaving with him for a moment.
“(Y/N), you have three whole days to finish. You’ve already gotten a head-start on things, so you can take a break.”
He was right, you were ahead. It wouldn’t hurt to get some food in your system.
“Okay.”
The two of you walked to the train station in a comfortable silence. You admired the pretty colors of the sunset and breathed in the refreshing Spring air. Tomioka never mentioned where you were going, but whatever it was, you didn’t care. You just wanted food.
As you walked, you thought about your relationship with him. It started off as a disliking to each other, and now it was more of an ‘okay’ feeling. You could tolerate him from time to time, and he did the same.
“What sparked you to want to get food with me?”
“I could tell you were getting overwhelmed, and I too am hungry.”
You peaked over at him. The remaining sunlight loomed over him, causing his eyes to have a subtle glow to them. “I see..”
A silence fell again, but neither of you minded.
Once you reached your stop after a short train ride, you were stood in front of a sushi restaurant. You let Tomioka order first, unable to decide on what you wanted.
“And for the lady?”
You stepped forward, “I’ll take the Crunchy California.”
The worker nodded and disappeared into the back. You looked at Tomioka with confusion.
“I already paid.”
You shook your head and reached into your school bag for your wallet, but he stopped you.
“Fine, but don’t expect me to return the favor later down the road.”
“I wasn’t expected you too.” He took a seat in a stool, looking at you to join him. You did, but kept your distance.
To help pass time, you scrolled through social media apps. You never posted on your accounts, but you liked to see what others were doing with their lives.
*Notifcation from Messages*
You tapped on the message, and read through the groupchat Mitsuri added you to a couple weeks ago.

spread the word
You peaked over at Tomioka, who was also scrolling through his phone. He didn’t seem like the party type. Then again, you weren’t exactly the type either. Not that you didn’t drink here and there, but you never found the right people to do it with.
The worker came back with two separate containers, wishing you a good day before disappearing again.
“Thank you for buying the food.” You gave him a half smile, and he nodded.
You both parted ways after coming to an agreement that both your houses weren’t too far, so you didn’t need one another to walk one back. Though, you probably wouldn’t have walked him back anyways.
It was still strange to you how you’d sometimes spend time with him outside of school. Even though more than half the time it was because of school, it was weird. You weren’t friends, but it sure seemed like it.
𐮛𐮛𐮛
After a couple more days of stress, you finally managed to pull through. You passed your tests, and you finished your stand in time. As well as making sure everything was set for the day.
Mitsuri put together cute outfits for you and Shinobu to wear, to fit the role of a barista. It consisted of a black button up with cafe embroidered near your collarbone, a black skirt, and an apron with a cute mug design. Usually, wearing a skirt in a coffee shop was against the conduct, but Mitsuri was set on looking fashionable.
You were jumping from stand to stand to help others while also maintaining your own. Everything had to be perfect today. And if that meant extra work, then so be it.
Many students were extremely creative, while others—Inosuke— weren’t so much. His stand ended up being a water dunking contest, with him being the person to be dunked. He had quite an audience, so you guessed it was okay.
The stand next to his was an underclassman Tanjiro Kamado along with his sister. They were doing a performance act with musical instruments. He was one of your favored underclassmen because of his kindness and hardworking ethics.
“Excuse me miss, where are the bathrooms?” An old woman tugged at your apron.
You greeted her with a smile and led her to the bathroom. You ended up coming across Tomioka’s stand, and decided to peak in. He had a crowd of people, and the line was almost out the door. Your eye twitched, and before you could leave, Sabito dragged you in.
“Pretty nice, right?” He grinned as he showcased his station. It had cute designs as well as tables that matched. You wondered how just the two of them came up with such an idea.
“It’s alright.” You cross your arms. “Just the two of you came up with this?”
He scratched the back of his head, “Makomo was supposed to be here, but she ended up doing an animal attraction with someone else.”
You hummed and watched as Tomioka worked skillfully throughout their make-up kitchen. With his undeniably good cooking, you were sure he’d gain more and more attention throughout the day.
”Well, I better head back to my stand.” You waved him off and quickly walked back to your station. There was no way you were going to let him beat you.
Mitsuri and Shinobu were busy serving guests, so you stood at the counter to greet and take orders. Being a waitress yourself, you were already familiar with how to properly treat guests.
You made sure to add charm to your voice anytime a man would come up, that way you could accumulate more tips in your jar.
The crowd of people only grew more as the day progressed, and you were so glad that Mitsuri and Shinobu were there with you. At first, you thought you’d be alone, but now that you’ve formed a decent bond with them, things have changed.
“Hey, can we switch real quick? I burnt my hand with the coffee..” Mitsuri frowned as she rubbed her hand.
“Oh no, are you okay?” You inspected her hand, but she waved it off.
”Just need a quick break, that’s all.” She handed you a tray with a steaming mug on it.
“Alright, tell me if it hurts anymore and we can close up for the day.” You took the tray and called out the number of the ticket that was placed on the mug.
Shinobu and you shifted between brewing coffees and teas and bagging baked goods. Thanks to her, you had plenty of treats to give out.
“Thanks again, Shinobu. It means a lot.” You smiled.
She returned the gesture, “Of course, (Y/N). You deserved all the help you could get after organizing an event like this.”
You placed a ticket onto a mug and called out its number. “So, are you going to Tengens party next weekend?”
”I’m undecided. You?”
”Same, I was kind of hoping you’d go so i’d have someone to go with.”
She hummed, “What about Mitsuri?”
“I’m sure she’ll be busy with Obanai, and I don’t want to third wheel.” You raised your eyebrows and tried to hint at her. “So…?”
She giggled, “I didn’t take you as the party type.”
You shrugged your shoulders, “I need a getaway from all the stress.”
”I know that’s right.” She bagged a cookie and placed it on a tray with a ticket. “Want to get ready at mine?”
“Sounds like a plan.” You smiled and picked up the tray, calling out the number.
The Bunkasai was coming to its end, and everyone began cleaning up their stations. You had to gather a report from everyone’s stand to give to Mr. Ubuyashiki, since the event was used to fund the soccer team, as well as advancements for the school.
Inosuke’s stand did far better than you anticipated, and it made you reconsider your thoughts on the kid.
The Kamado siblings did good as well, raising just a couple hundred yen short from yours.
Many of the underclassmen surprised you as you gathered your reports. It made you happy they went all out rather than treating it as a dumb school event.
However, one in particular made you question how his stand was approved by the school board. Their name was Zenitsu Agatsuma, and his stand was an open spa. When you spoke to him, he stuttered from time to time, and he had a grin plastered on his face.
‘He most be going through his awkward teen phase..’
You saved Tomioka’s stand for last, wanting to gather as much reports as possible to compare them to his.
Sabito greeted you with a smile when you walked in, and Tomioka simply nodded his head.
“How many guests would you estimate you served, and how much did you raise?”
The boys gave an each other a look before Sabito pulled a massive jar filled with money underneath their counter. Your jaw almost dropped from the amount of money they got.
”I’d say at least a hundred people, and for the money..” Sabito laughed, “i’d say we made, what, a couple thousand? Maybe more.”
You blinked a couple times before writing down their report. It was true the event was school-wide and open to the public, but how’d the manage to gain that much money? Just by looking at their jar, you were sure they beat your stand.
“Be sure to drop your jar off into the office before you leave.” You clicked your pen and stuffed it in your skirt pocket.
“How much did you guys make?” Tomioka asked.
You smacked your lips, “A lot.”
He rose an eyebrow, and before he could say anything else, you left.
Of course he made more than you. You didn’t need to count your money to know he did. This event only fueled your rage to beat him at whatever chance you got next.
You planned out your next move, and thought about the party the upcoming weekend. Tomioka was definitely not a party person, but you’d find a way to convince him to go. In fact, you were sure Sabito would be a key factor in your plan considering how close they were. Sabito was definitely a party person, and there was no way he wouldn’t convince his friend to go.
All you had to do now was be patient, and wait for your plan to fall into place.

boy do i have some exciting stuff coming for you guys 😈
Chapter 6: Temptations*
Chapter Text
“How’d your Math exam go?” Tomioka asked, readjusting his glasses.
You finished up a problem you were working on and showed him the answer. He shook his head, and you let out a frustrated grunt. “I passed, by a hair…”
”How? I gave you so many notes.”
You rolled your eyes, “I passed didn’t I?”
“You could’ve done better, i’m sure. I’m the one teaching you.”
Ignoring him, you moved onto the next problem. “Are you going to the party tomorrow?”
“Yeah, why?”
You let out a small laugh, “Just wondering.”
It was all too perfect. You didn’t even need to do too much work, other than put together a good outfit for the party and work your magic.
“You got a date?” You push further, pausing your working to glance up at him.
He stiffened up, “..No?”
You hummed and continued to look at him, placing your pencil down. It was back to square one. Your initial plan, before your current one.
“I’m not surprised, you know, since you’ve never been with a girl before.”
He sighed, “Why’re you pestering me about this again?”
”Because,” You inch forward slightly and smirk, “I like the way you always tense up whenever I do something out of the ordinary.”
A silence fell, and you watched as he swallowed a lump in his throat. He parted his lips, but nothing came out.
“You ever think about it?”
His eyes flickered from your eyes down to the way you were sat. “..Think about what?”
You snicker, “Never mind.” You lean back and slide your packet over to him. “Is this right?”
He hesitated to answer before looking over your problem, choking out a quick ‘yes’.
The rest of your session went by rather quickly. Tomioka seemed to be lost in thought any time you’d look over, and it only made you more excited for the party. If he would get so flustered at just the topic, you couldn’t even imagine how he’d react to what you had in store for him later.
He was always so quick, and snappy whenever the two of you would bicker. However, you had the upper hand when it came to talking about something more, different.
“Why’re you all quiet, now?” You tease.
“I’m not.”
“You are,” You glance over at him, but he avoided your eyes. “What’s on your mind?”
”Nothing.” He adjusted himself in his seat. “Can you just focus on finishing the page so we can be done for the day?”
You giggle, “What, am I boring you?”
”No, you’re—“ He paused, unsure of what to say.
“Hm?” You urged him to continue, but you knew why he couldn’t. He didn’t have the guts to try and use your teasing against you.
He let out a low sigh, “Just finish the packet, (Y/N).”
“Yes sir.”
From the corner of your eye, you saw him shake his head and close his eyes momentarily.
You were getting to him.
𐮛𐮛𐮛
“What’re you guys wearing to the party tomorrow?” Mitsuri asked.
You and Shinobu were sprawled out on Mitsuri’s bed, while she was busy scrummaging through her closet.
The three of you had a girls night after your stressful exams. You passed every exam with flying colors. Except Math, of course.
“I’m not sure yet, what about you?” You glanced at Shinobu.
“Nothing crazy, probably a cute shirt and jeans.”
Mitsuri groaned, “C’mon Shinobu, step out of your shell and show the world your amazing curves!” She turned around and held two pieces of clothing to her body. You shook your head, and so did Shinobu. “You know what, this only means one thing.”
“What?” You ask.
”Shopping!”
Shinobu sighed, “I just spent so much on new scrubs for the clinic..”
Mitsuri tugged at you and your friend, “I’ll pay then! Let’s go.”
With her constant begging, the three of you ended up a nearby store. You didn’t have a clue on what to buy, since you never went to a party before. But you did know that it had to be something that made you pop. After all, you still had more steps to check off for your plan.
You picked up a red tank top with lace bordering. It had a low cut around the neck area, and you were sure you’d have to pull it up throughout the night. Despite that, you carried it around with you and tried to pair things with it.
After scanning through multiple options, you ended up coming across a dark-washed mini jean skirt. Now all you had to do was find a cute coverup to go over your top. You could go without, but it seemed pretty plain without something.
You came across a black long-sleeved sheer top that tied in the front, and added it to your selection.
“What do you guys think?” You held your options up to your body to the best of your ability.
Mitsuri squealed, “Hell yes! Tomioka might eat you alive.”
”Good, that’s the plan.”
Shinobu and Mitsuri gave each other a look.
“I thought you and I met eye to eye when it came to him..” Shinobu laughed, “but hey, go for it.”
“No, trust me, we still do. This is just apart of my plan.” You grinned and brought your clothes to the check out.
The girls followed shortly after, and once you were all cashed out, you parted ways once you reached the train station. You went with Shinobu, while Mitsuri went to her home.
Kanae, an alumni from your school, greeted you when you made it inside. She was still as pretty as ever, even in her scrubs with her hair loosely tied in a bun.
“I wish I could stay longer, but I have to work overtime tonight.” She gave you a smile and hugged her sister goodbye. “Don’t do anything dumb at the party you two.”
You bit back a laugh when Shinobu rolled her eyes, “Are you hungry?”
“Not really, do you mind if I take a shower?”
“Go ahead, everything you need should already be in there. I’ll lay out some clothes for when you’re done.”
Your shower was long due to all the preparations you had to do for the party tomorrow. You were sure you probably wouldn’t get a lot of sleep tonight, so you decided it’s be best to take it now rather then rush one the next day.
After you got out, you and Shinobu turned on a movie and ate some snacks. You occasionally scrolled on your phone and liked some of your friends posts, and eventually you came across none other than Giyuu Tomioka’s account.
He didn’t have much posted other than family pictures and school related things. Then, you stumbled upon one of his gym posts. You couldn’t lie, he was definitely ripped. You knew that from the beach, but looking at him now, without having to draw your eyes away, you were in a trance.
Tomioka was someone you didn’t expect to go to the gym, especially with his nerdy appearance.
You continued to swipe through the photos, and an idea popped in your brain. So, you followed him and sent him a message.
Giyuu Tomioka
’didn’t know you were serious about working out tomioka’
‘What are you talking about?’
’🙄’
‘you told me you did when I was at your house’
’Oh’
’Why’re you messaging me about this?’
’I got curious and decided to scroll through your page’
‘you have more muscle than I thought 😂’
’Thanks, I guess…’
‘still no date i’m assuming?’
’Why are you so adamant about asking me this?’
’And no.’
’no reason’
’see you tmrw 😁’
’Okay.’
”What’s got you cheesing at your phone? Tomioka?” Shinobu teased.
You choked out a laugh, “Yeah, but not in the way you’re thinking.”
She hummed and popped a grape into her mouth, “I can see you two together.”
“Don’t tell me Mitsuri’s getting to you.” You rolled your eyes.
“Maybe.”
You couldn’t see what they were, and quite frankly, you didn’t want to. He got on your nerves, and you got on his.
“Two negatives don’t make a positive.”
Shinobu giggled, “Yes they do, babes.”
”Wait, what?”
“In some cases.”
You groaned at the thought of math and decided to call it a night. You needed all the rest you could get before tomorrow’s festivities.
The next morning, the two of you didn’t do much besides make breakfast and relax for the time being. You slept in for quite a while, and almost forgot the set time you planned to get ready.
Tengen wanted you all to come over early to help set up and do a quick pregame. So, you ended up leaving earlier than you both intended.
Your outfit came out just how you wanted it to. Not too showy, but just the right amount to gain some attention.
When you made it to Tengen’s place, you were amazed by its size and decorations that were already scattered around the place. It made sense though, since he was the leader of the art club. He was very creative and flamboyant.
“Hey!” Mitsuri smiled as she walked up to you and Shinobu. “You guys look so hot.”
You smiled, “Thanks, but look at you.”
Mitsuri did a spin, causing you and Shinobu to give her a small round of applause.
“I’m sure Iguro is going to have you attached to his side all night with you dressed like that.” Shinobu teased.
”Ugh, I know. It took a lot of convincing for him to let me wear it.” She ruffled down the edges of her dress. “Anyways, the others are in the kitchen.”
The three of you made your way to the others and busied yourself with a task Tengen gave you. You were on drink duty with Sanemi, unfortunately. He was labeled a hothead in your book, and he only proved himself more by yelling at you for messing up his order.
After finishing up in the kitchen, you all met in the living room with a glass in hand. However, there was one person missing.
You nudged Sabito and whispered, “Where’s your friend at?”
“He’s coming late because he had homework to do, or whatever.” He smirked, “Why? Miss him already?”
You laughed, “Something like that.”
“Wait—” Sabito was cut off by Tengen’s announcement of celebration. You knew he was caught off guard by your reply, and that’s exactly what you wanted. You were sure he’d run off and tell Tomioka an exaggerated version, which would help you in the long run.
It didn’t take long for Tengen’s house to get flooded with guests. He was the designated party thrower at your school, so it was a given many people would show up.
You were busy talking with Makomo before the one person you’d been looking for finally made an appearance. He was with Sabito, of course, just a couple of feet away from you.
“Yeah, my cat finally stopped throwing up.”
“Oh, that’s nice.” You peaked over towards him again, but he was gone. “Hold that thought…”
You pushed your way through the crowd in search of your target. Then, you spotted him in the kitchen. Alone.
Perfect.
”Hey,” You lean against the counter and watch him pour himself a drink. “Starting your night off with lemonade? Lame.”
He shot you a glance, briefly looking at your outfit. “I’m not much of a drinker.
You scoff, “It’s a party, Tomioka. Loosen up a bit.” You grabbed a shot glass and poured tequila in it. “Ever done a body shot before?”
His eyebrows raised and he cleared his throat. “No..”
Grinning, you held up the shot glass, gesturing for him to hold it. “How about I teach you something for a change, yeah?” You watched his facial expression contort into a more nervous one, and a flush rose to his cheeks.
You’d never done a body shot on anyone before. Mitsuri was the one to introduce it to you, and that’s when you formed this idea to do it on him.
“What’s gotten into you?” His tone wavered, and you could tell he was trying to put on a confident persona.
You shrugged your shoulders, “Maybe we got off on the wrong foot.” You held the shot up to him again. “So?”
He sighed and took the shot, “What do I do with this?”
“Hold it for a sec,” You grabbed a lime and a pinch of salt. “This might feel weird.” You watched as his shoulders tensed at the feeling of you rubbing the lime along the edge of his neck. Letting out a small laugh, you rubbed a line of salt against the now sticky surface.
“(Y/N)—”
“Relax,” You took the shot from him and gave him a final look. His chest seemed to be rising and falling faster, and his eyes were locked onto yours. “You alright?”
”Im just.. confused.” His hands clenched at his sides and he was as stiff as a board.
You giggled, “Tonight is meant to be fun. No stress, no drama, no grudges.” You brought the lime up to his lips with a small smirk, “Okay?”
He nodded and allowed you to place the lime between them. If it was already evident that he was nervous before, it sure was now. And that’s exactly what you wanted. You wanted to watch his barrier crumble.
You grabbed the shot from him and leaned in to lick the strip of salt from his neck. His breath hitched at the contact, and you could feel his pulse quicken under your tongue. After licking the strip of salt, you downed the shot quickly and went back in. This time, for his lips.
His eyes were blown wide from how close you were. You didn’t kiss him, but your lips brushed against his as you bit the fruit. After tossing it away, you shot him a smile.
“You look like a tomato.” You laughed.
He brought a hand to his mouth to hide his blush and avoided your eyes, “This was unexpected.”
”I know, that’s why I did it.” You looked him over and admired his outfit. He wore a black dress shirt with the first few buttons undone, and black slacks. Of course he’d try and keep it professional, despite it being a party. “I’ll see you around.”
You didn’t wait for a response from him, and scurried off into the living room. Even though you initiated the act, your heart was pounding in your chest. It took a lot of confidence to do it. Which is why you took part in the pregame, as well as an extra shot later to get you going. You got the reaction you wanted out of him, but you were too nervous to continue on. You’d have to resume after the alcohol settled in more.
An arm slung around your shoulder, pausing your movement. It was Sabito.
“Hey, I see you’re making moves. I must say (Y/N), you’re quite smooth.” He grinned from ear to ear and wiggled his eyebrows. “I’ve never seen him so lost in thought.”
“You saw that?” You laughed, “Just wanted to loosen him up.”
“Well keep at it. Maybe you’ll get what you’re looking for.”
You paused. “What do you mean?”
The boy shrugged his shoulders before disappearing into the crowd. Whatever he meant, you brushed it off and distracted yourself by dancing. You ran into Mitsuri and Shinobu somewhere throughout moving through the crowd, and ended up taking another shot.
You were in deep now; no returns. You knew your limit, so you were still aware of your surroundings. But, there was still a buzz that made you woozy.
“They’re doing beer pong outside, let’s go!” Mitsuri dragged you and your friend towards the backyard where a crowd of people were gathered around a table.
Tengen and Rengoku were on one side, while Obanai and Sanemi were on the other.
“You’re supposed to aim for the cups, by the way.” Sanemi snorted and grabbed a ball, dipping it in a cup before skillfully tossing it in one of Tengen’s.
“Dammit!” Tengen cursed.
The four went back and forth before Sanemi ended up getting the last cup, making his team the victor. “Who’s next?!”
Mitsuri raised your hand, “Us!”
You were dragged towards the other end of the table before you could protest. “Mitsuri, i’m going to warn you now, i’m not too good at this.”
She waved you off as she set up the cups on your end. A chuckle came from the other end, “This’ll be child’s play then.” He nudged his friend, Obanai. “Hope you won’t get too butt-hurt when I kick your girlfriends ass.”
Mitsuri huffed, “Don’t get cocky Sanemi.” She turned to you and handed you a ball. “You got this.”
You reluctantly grabbed the plastic ball and aimed for a cup, gaining a point. You let out a sigh of relief and made room for Misturi to go.
“Yay!” She cheered as she got another cup.
As the round went on, you and Mitsuri managed to get more cups than the boys. Sanemi was blowing fumes after each cup he missed, and you were holding in your laughter from how red he was getting.
“Childs play, right Sanemi?”
He flipped you off, “Fuck off.” He aimed for a cup and missed, costing them the game.
“Thanks to your ego, we lost.” Obanai shot, grabbing a glass off the separate table.
Mitsuri wanted you to stay for another match, but you needed to use the restroom for a quick refresher.
Luckily for you, Tengen had a reserved bathroom for close friends, and you just so happened to make it on the list.
You stared at yourself in the mirror momentarily, and fixed up your messy hair.
So far, your plan with Tomioka was going slow. You started to chicken out on progressing further due to your nerves.
He was starting to get to your head, and that made it even more difficult. Deep down, you knew the guy was attractive. His dark hair and blue eyes were a dangerous combo. You didn’t know if it was the alcohol in your system that had you thinking differently, or if this was how you always felt.
You thought back to the look on his face after your little performance. It was priceless. But, there was also a hint of something in his eyes.
After giving yourself a final look, you opened the door and ran into a stiff surface. The click of the door sounded behind you, and you stepped back to rub your nose. It was Tomioka. “What’re you doing?”
He cleared his throat, “I was looking for you, actually.”
You smirked, “What, no other girls are peaking your interest?”
“No.” He replied with a blank expression, but there was a flush apparent on his cheeks. “What made you do that earlier?”
”I wanted to get a reaction out of you.”
There was a pause between the two of you, and you started to feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand from his gaze.
“Well, you got one. Now what?”
You felt your stomach twist, and you quickly tried to form a response. Nothing came to your mind, so you shrugged your shoulders.
He let out a scoff, “I’m not an idiot, (Y/N). I know you’re doing this to try and get something out of me.”
“I’m not.” You lie. He inched closer, and you felt your back hit the door from stepping back. The scent of his cologne hit you, and you shamelessly breathed it in. “Do you need to use the bathroom or something?”
“No, but what I do need is for you to drop this act.”
Your breath hitched, “What act?”
A chuckle escaped him and he backed away slightly. “I’m sure you know what i’m talking about.”
You clenched your fists and let out a sigh. You couldn’t let him get the upper hand. “I don’t, actually. Why don’t you entertain me?”
He furrowed his eyebrows, “C’mon, (Y/N). You and I both know that’s not true.”
”Oh, but it is.” You try and push past him, but he blocked your path towards the exit of Tengen’s room. “Tomioka.”
”You started this, so finish it.” He stood his ground, and you continued to stand yours. If he wanted to test you, then you were going to do the same thing back.
You crossed your arms. “If this is your way of trying to flirt, you’re doing bad.”
“And you’re doing any better?” A small tug formed on his lips, and you could feel your blood boil.
“You’re speaking with an awful amount of confidence for not having any experience.” You watched his expression drop.
“I may have said i’ve never been with a girl, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have experience.”
Your breath got caught in your longs, and you quickly cleared your throat to regain yourself. “Prove it then.”
His eyebrows raised, and you had a shit-eating grin on your face. You knew he didn’t have the guts to prove you wrong, there was no way. He was way too innocent to. Hell, he was a blushing mess just from earlier. The only experience he could have is with his hand and a bottle of lotion.
“Okay.”
“What?” You breathed out as you watched him lean in, pausing just before your face before aiming for your neck.
His hair brushed against the corner of your face and you could feel your heart skip a beat. “Like I said, i’m not an idiot (Y/N).”
Your knees buckled as he inched lower, his hands feeling up the tops of your thighs. The feeling in your stomach intensified once you saw him peak up through his eyelashes.
“Sabito mentioned something to me earlier.” He inched lower. “I know what game you’re trying to get at.”
You swallowed a lump that formed in your throat. “Oh yeah?” Your voice was weak, and your mind was racing from what was happening.
“Yeah.” He was on his knees now, and his hands were running slow movements up and down the back of your thighs. “Still want me to prove it to you?”
You choke out a laugh to try and mask the obvious nervousness behind your face. “You don’t have the balls.”
He clicked his tongue and hiked one of your legs atop of his shoulder. You felt your core tighten as he stared at the new found angle of your body. The pink lacy underwater you were wearing was on clear display, and he had a smug smirk plastered on his lips.
You couldn’t believe the situation you were in right now. Tomioka, the geek you despised, was on his knees in front of you. You didn’t think this was where your plan would get you, but you certainly weren’t going to stop it. You were too far in to turn back. And you were sure he wouldn’t let you live this moment down if you backed out.
One of his hands came from around your leg to bunch your skirt up, and you brought a shaky hand to help him with the process.
“You’re shaking.” He pointed out.
“I’m cold.” You lie, clutching at the material.
He hummed and disappeared underneath your skirt, and shortly after, you felt a kiss planted on your inner thigh. You shivered at the contact and fluttered your eyes shut. Quickly after, you felt his hand hook your panties to the side, and your heat was hit with the cold air.
The next sensation caused your eyes to shoot open. His tongue licked a slow, teasing stride through your folds.
“Fuck—“ You clutched your hands on your skirt as you watched his head move beneath it.
After another teasing stride, your thighs threatened to close in on him, but he forced them to stay open. His grip was strong as he gripped the flesh of your thighs, and you were struggling to keep your balance from the surreal feeling.
He continued to lap up your juices, occasionally flicking his tongue against your clit.
“Tomioka,” You let out a shaky breath and move one of your hands to clutch at his scalp. He let out a groan that vibrated against your folds, causing a quick moan to escape your lips.
“Stop squirming so much,” He muttered, gripping your thighs tighter.
“Then stop teasing so much.” You yelped at the sudden intrusion to your entrance, and you almost lost your footing. “Dick.”
He chuckled against you and continued to tease your heat.
You were starting to become lost in the feeling of his wet muscle moving against your clit, and once he added a finger to the mix, you were sure you were done for.
Then, the sound of a knock at the door caused you to freeze. Tomioka continued going, and you had to slap a hand over your mouth to contain your lewd sounds.
“T-Tomioka— shit,” You threw your head back as you felt his finger curl upward, “someone’s here.”
”I locked the door.” He murmured, closing his lips against your clit, sloppily moving his tongue in a side-to-side motion.
You tried to shoot something back at him, but you felt your body tense from the pleasure, preventing you from doing so. “Oh my god.”
He focused on your clit while pumping his finger into you, causing your back to arch off the door. You hoped the person was gone by now, because you were a moaning mess.
The coil in your stomach snapped and your orgasm rushed over your body rapidly. Your hands gripped onto whatever you could to stable yourself as he worked you through your climax.
After it subsided, he pulled away and sucked in a long breath. You glanced down and watched as he licked your release off his lips, and it was sight you made sure to tuck into the back of your mind.
Your legs wobbled as you regained your composure, fixing the ruffles in your skirt.
Reality sunk in, and the two of you were staring at each other with blank expressions.
“I have to go.” You pushed past him and rushed to the door without looking back.
Just as you thought you were getting to him, he was already, and always was, a step ahead.
