Work Text:
He would have done anything to get him back, anything; he had loved Clark more than anything. Loved him enough to do anything for him, including giving up his quest to destroy Superman, once he found out they were one and the same. They started working together to prevent wrongdoers, and things were good. They married and Clark was four months pregnant, and Lex had always known that Kryptonian males could carry children, the clone had allowed him to know, so they were ready prepared for when Clark found out.
Lex was happy; he loved Clark and their life together, and he was so excited to raise a family with him, so of course, that's when Clark died. It was supposed to be a routine mission, so routine in fact that Lex didn't feel the need to communicate with Clark during the battle, so he didn't even get to say goodbye. Mr. Terrific came to his office door, not long after the battle, and told him what happened. Lex felt his world drop out from around him, and he fell to the floor, feeling like he was dying. Clark was gone, and Lex hadn't been there to do anything about it. He couldn't breathe, his whole world was gone, he had devoted his life to Clark way before he loved him, Clark had been his life for over ten years now, and he didn't know how to go on.
So he didn't, he laid on the floor until he was dragged to his penthouse, where he was placed in his bed. Lex didn't care who dragged him; all he cared about was that he was alone in their bed and Clark was never coming to join him again. Lex lay there for days, wallowing in misery until he remembered something else Mr. terrific had said. The villain who had killed Clark was still alive, but he wouldn't be for long if Lex had anything to say about it.
But finding the villain and killing him himself slowly and painfully proved to be an exercise in extending his grief. The villain had no idea what he was doing. He had somehow gotten his hands on kryptonite and, not relapsing what he was doing, shot Superman because he wanted to see if the man was really bulletproof, and Clark didn't dodge in time because 1 he was weakening by the kryptonite and 2 there was a giant kiju attacking the city. The man was simply in the right place at the right time to destroy Lex's whole world and rob the world of the great hero.
Lex shot him in the leg to stop him from running away, then he got out a knife and carved him up, slowly and painfully, making him feel all the pain Lex felt now. After the man was dead, Lex had his employees cover it up; the last thing Lex wanted was to go to jail. He still had to plan a funeral, make sure Clark was honored the way he deserved to be, and then Lex would find a way to be with Clark again.
Mr. and Mrs. Kent were flown in by Lex. They were devastated, their only child was dead, Mr. Kent spent almost the whole time crying, through both of Clark's funerals, one for Superman and one for Clark Kent. The whole world mourned Superman, dozens of heroes showed up to the funeral, and over a billion people tuned in to watch the live broadcast. Stores sold out of black clothing because so many people were in mourning. Lex hadn't worn anything but jet black since he heard the news.
Clark Kent's funeral was much smaller, just Lex and Mr. and Mrs.Kent, the staff of the Daily Planet, and the Justice gang. Mr. and Mrs. Kent held onto each other the whole time. Lex had no one to hold him; Clark was the only one he loved, the only one who loved him. Lex couldn't live without him; attending his funeral was the hardest thing he had ever done.
After the funeral, Mr. and Mrs. Kent went home, taking with them the people who Lex had to stay strong for; if they knew what Lex was going to do after the funeral, they never would have left. But how was Lex supposed to go on? He had lost LCark, had lost their child, had lost his future.
Lex had the gun raised to his temple when he had the idea. Years ago, he and Clark had discovered the existence of the multiverse, infinite worlds, and timelines, but more importantly to Lex infinite Clarks, he could see Clark again, be with him again. Lex put down the gun and all but ran down to his lab and began to work. For the first time since that fateful day, feeling something akin to hope.
It took him a whole year to create the machine that would bring him to Clark. Every day was agony. Lex locked himself away from society; he didn't care anymore about anything other than getting to Clark. Every night spent alone in their bed, he was tormented by nightmares, the video of Clark dying on repeat in his mind. But in the end he got it, it would only take him to the next timeline over, one where Clark didn't go on that fateful mission and instead came home to Lex that night, it didn't matter to Lex that there was another him there, he would simply kill him or steal that version of CLark and bring him to Lex's timeline.
Lex wasted no time, once the machine worked he went right through landing in what looked to be his living room, it looked the same as his accept it still held the warmth that Clark brought to their home, there was a baby monitor on the table that wasn't there in Lex's timeline, meaning that this Clark safely had their child and that the child lived. Lex found himself smiling for the first time in over a year. It was just a matter of time now until he saw Clark again, until he got to meet their child, until he got his life back.
Lex started looking around the penthouse for Clark, knowing that odds are he would also find the other him, because of the way he orbited around Clark like he was the sun; he couldn't wait to be able to do that again. When he walked into the bedroom, he found the pair of Clark and the other him sleeping there, Clark held securely against the other him's chest, both sleeping soundly. Lex had almost forgotten it was the middle of the night.
When he saw Clark, breathing healthy, alive, he fell to his knees. Lex loved him so much he could barely breathe when he wasn't with him, and he finally finally was in his presence once more. He felt tears run down his cheeks as he watched Clark's chest rise and fall. He muffled a sob when Clark murmured in his sleep; he hadn't heard that beautiful voice in over a year. His muffled sob woke the other him, who was instantly on guard, staring at the sobbing version of himself with distrust.
The other him shook Clark awake, and when those beautiful blue eyes opened, Lex couldn't help himself. He got to his feet and all but leapt onto the bed, wrapping his arms around Clark and pressing his face into his neck. Clark, for his part, seemed confused but comforted Lex all the same, only until he saw that there were two Lexs in the room, of course.
The Lex of this timeline tried to pull Lex away from Clark, and Clark went stiff in his arms, but Lex would not, could not, be pulled away. He could hear Clark's heartbeat like this, hear him breathe strong and steady, but in the end, Clark's strength won out, and he was pushed away, not far, just far enough that Clark could look at him. Clark opened his mouth to speak, but the Lex of this timeline, whom Lex decided to call Luthor for simplicity's sake, beat him to it.
“Who are you, and what are you doing here?” Lex didn't miss him, looking at the baby monitor on the nightstand, and he breathed an almost invisible sigh of relief when he saw the baby there, still sleeping peacefully.
“I'm you from another timeline,” Lex explained, choosing to leave out the part where he planned to steal Clark away or kill Luthor and take his place. He had no issue coexisting with this other him so long as he got to be with Clark and their child, but he knew himself, and he didn't share. Lex was desperate. It had been a year since he had seen the love of his life, and he would do anything to be with him again, even share him.
“Why are you here?” Clark asked much more softly than Luthor had, clearly sensing how fragile Lex is. Clark stared at him warmly, Lex felt his heart skip a beat, he loved him so much, and now, now he was seeing him again; it was perfect.
“I'm here for you, Clark.” Lex paused. He had never been able to say the words he was about to say before, but he had to say them; it was the only way for him to be able to stay. “My Clark, he died a year ago, and I just I can't. I need you, so I made a machine to come here so that I could see you again.” Clark's eyes softened, and he pulled Lex into his arms, saying
“I'm so sorry, you can stay as long as you like.” Lex melted into his arms, breathing in Clark's scent, happy beyond words. It was then that Luthor spoke.
“No, he can't, we don't know anything about him, for all we know, he could have never changed and still be out to kill you, Clark!”
“I'm not,” Lex said at the same time Clark said,
“He's not.” Luthor still looked skeptical and tried once more to pull Lex off of Clark. It was only then that Lex realized that Clark and Luthor were completely naked. Lex felt himself getting hard at the sight of Clark's naked form. It had been over a year since he had sex, too, and he had vowed never to be with anyone who wasn't Clark, hadn't wanted to either. Clark saw his hardness and looked to Luthor, who looked ready to kill Lex with his bare hands,
“Look what harm could it do to let him stay, let him have what he needs for a moment, and then he can leave, and I won't make you share again,” Clark offered. Luhtor looked skeptical and said,
“A lot! If I know myself and I do, he could just be waiting for me to leave so he can steal you away from me, so he can take you away from our son” It was fair enough seeing as that was exactly what Lex planned to do, but he also planned to take the baby with him, seeing as CLark would never be happy kept away from his child, Lex didn't practically care what happened to Luthor after he left.
“He wont and besides how would he, he doesnt have kryptonite on him and i dont want to leave, so again what harm could it do” CLark hadn't seen or felt the kryptonite yet because it was in Lex's lead lined bag in the living room, knowing that hes need to migrate there and get the baby before he could steal Clark.
“Fine” Luhtor agreed and Lex felt a bit of hope start to fill him, “on a few conditions though, one i get to stay, hes not going to be alone with you, two he doesnt get your ass, thats mine and three he leaves after” Alex nodded his head like he agreed knowing in his heart that he would be following all these rules to an extent. The other him would get to stay, but it would be the last time he was intimate with Clark because Lex was going to steal him. The other Lex could have his ass this time, but once Clark was back in Lex's timeline, Lex would have him all to himself, his ass included. And finally, he will be leaving after, but he will be leaving with Clark and the baby.
Lex is aware he's relapsed into supervillainy, but he doesn't really care, so long as he gets Clakr and their child, he's happy. Clark smiled at Luthor, so full of love, Lex couldn't wait for that look to be on him and him alone. Then Clark kissed Lex. Lex could have cried, having those warm lips pressed to his made him feel warmer than he had in a year. Lex caught Luhtor reaching over to grab the lube from their nightstand, then slicking up his fingers, sticking one into Clark with no warning. Clark moaned into Lex's mouth.
“I love you so much, Clark, please, I love you,” Lex babbled, and Clark seemed to know what Lex wanted. Moving Lex into a kneeling position and unbuckling his belt, pulling down his pants, and freeing his cock, it was hard and leaking. By that point, Luthor had three fingers pumping in and out of Clark's ass, and right as Clark closed his lips around Lex's cock, Luthor removed his fingers and inserted his cock. Clark moaned around Lex's dick, and the vibrations nearly sent Lex over the edge, but he held fast. After a year without Clark, he wasn't going to go this fast.
Luthor set a punishing rhythm as if trying to claim Clark for himself. Well, two could play at that game, Lex quickly asked Clark's permission before starting to fuck his face. He and Luthor made eye contact, both breaking out of the ecstasy of being in Clark the moment their eyes met, realizing just what the other was doing, trying to keep Clark as their own, and nobody else's, even another version of himself. Lex picked up his thrusts, Clark's drool clearing the way for an easy slide, and Clark didn't have a gag reflex, so he could take Lex deep; it wasn't his ass, but his mouth was almost as good.
Luthor started jerking Clark off while he fucked him, and Lex yearned to be in that place, taking his pleasure from Clark while also giving him pleasure. But then again, Lex remembered to be grateful he had Clark back; he never thought he would see him again, and here he was balls deep in his mouth. Luthor came first, coming into Clark's ass, moaning out Clark's name with a declaration of love to Clark.
Clark came next, sucking on Lex's cock, and he spilled into Luthor's hand. Luthor raised his hand up to his mouth and licked it, bragging to Lex that he got to do so and Lex didn't, but Lex didn't let it get to him; he would be licking up Clark's cum soon enough, and Luthor would be here all alone. At the thought of getting Clark to himself, getting to be with him again, Lex came right into Clark's mouth, where Clark swallowed it all.
Lex pulled out and started to caress Clark's face to make sure that he was okay. Luthor pulled out and checked over Clark's body as if to check he was okay. Clark smiled at them both and held both of their hands before he closed his eyes and started snoring. Once Clark was asleep, Luhtor glared at Lex,
“What's your game?” he asked suspiciously.
“Nothing” Lex lied, “i just i needed to see him” Luthor looked unconvinced, “try to see things from my point of view imagine your Clark died, he never got to have your child, because he was pregnant when he left you behind and now you have an opportunity to see him again wouldn't you do it, no matter what?”
“Sounds to me like you're planning to steal him, take him away from me, and I'm not going to let you,” Luthor vowed, squeezing Clark's hand.
“I'm not, and I can prove it to you. I'll leave right now,” Lex lied, needing to lure Luthor out to the living room where Lex's bag was so Lex could kill him and bring Clark and their son home. Luthor followed him distrustfully into the living room, where Lex reached into his lead-lined bag and pulled out a gun, quickly shooting Luthor in the head, killing him instantly. The baby started crying, and Clark came running out of their room at the sound, but Lex pulled another item out of his bag, a shard of kryptonite. Clark fell to his knees sobbing when he saw Luthor's corpse. But he couldn't even move to get to him, so weakened by the kryptonite.
Lex walked over to the sobbing love of his life and knelt down, caressing his face.
“I love you so much, Clark, and we both knew this was going to happen. He was never going to let me stay, and I can't live without you.” Clark wouldn't even look him in the eyes, too busy staring at Luthor's corpse and trying to drag his body towards it. Lex knew that until he had Clark where he needed him in the room he had prepared for him, he couldn't leave him without the kryptonite, so he placed it on a high counter out of Clark's reach and went to grab the baby.
His son was perfect; he looked just like Clark and seemed strong and healthy. Lex lifted him out of his crib and walked back into the living room. He picked back up the kryptonite, but Clark wasn't even trying to get to it. He was too busy holding Luthor's dead body and sobbing. Lex grabbed his machine and placed it on the ground, activating it. He walked through the portal with the child, knowing that Clark would follow, not willing to be without his child. Especially now that Luthor is gone. Once Clark was through the portal, Lex closed it and then promptly destroyed the machine, making it so that Clark could never leave.
Then Lex gently placed the baby in the crib he had prepared for it in Clark's and his new room, and set the kryptonite down on the bed. Then he grabbed Clark's prone figure and gently placed him on the bed, snapping cuffs around his wrists and ankles. Clark was still crying, and now he was pleading with Lex, but Lex wouldn't hear it; he simply kissed Clark to shut him up. The cuffs were made of kryptonite, low levels not enough to hurt him, but enough to keep him weak enough that he couldn't leave. Lex put away the pure piece, and Clark took a deep breath.
The baby was crying, and Clark begged Lex to let him hold him. Lex obliged, of course. What kind of partner would he be if he didn't let Clark hold their baby? So he grabbed their son from his crib and brought him over to Clark. Clark looked at their son with love and sadness. Lex decided to give them a moment to grieve before he came back and had his way with Clark. Lex walked out of the room content knowing that he had his family at last.
