Chapter Text
Intro/ begining
Thud. Lightning hit the wing of the plane, shaking the entire cabin, as sparks dispersed themselves aggressively. Scar ran to the attendant phone and dialed in to speak to the captains.
"Hello? Ma'am's Lightning just hit the left wing and passengers are freaking out."
"Speak on the Tannoy, ask everyone to sit down and go into brace position as we attempt to land. It seems the strike hit too closely to the engine and we cannot risk that any damage has happened."
"Rodger that!"
Scar presses the code into the phone to now use it as a Tannoy so the whole cabin, passengers included can hear.
"Hello ladies and gentlemen, please make sure all bags are tucked away and go into the brace position as we prepare for an emergency landing. Please do not panic as the emergency landing is to ensure the lightning caused no damage. As we know right now there are no problems with the plane, but the captains don't want to risk any further lightning or danger onboard today. Thank you."
While putting down the phone another lighting strike hit the top of the plane, the loud crackle and thud caused an infant onboard to start crying. One of the crew members under Scar, Scott, went over to comfort the child giving him a teddy bear which calmed him down. Even with his seniority, Scar was struggling with the storm, his heart pounded like war drums as he stepped into the toilet cubicle. Trying to catch his breath the only thing on his mind was his long-gone friend Mumbo, who died when struck by lightning. He always suspected that Mumbo and his husband Grian were having an affair, but since mumbo died it wouldn't be appropriate to ask. Either way the memories of his once close friend flooded his mind, each birthday party, DnD session, each random midnight phone call. Scar was trapped in the open cubicle, unable to move.
A muffled voice drowned out by the ringing in his ears slowly got louder.
"Scar." "Scar." "You need to sit down." "Scar we're landing."
Etho and Scott attempted to wake Scar out of dissociation, while both sat in the cabin seats the countdown was on. Each plea grew more desperate as the countdown to landing started to pass.
"Scar! Please, it's an emergency landing you need to sit down!"
Thud. The plane landed as Scar grew unconscious. His head had hit the metal toilet bowl, causing a gashing wound and egg-shaped lump to appear.
As soon as the pilots gave the all clear; Scott, Etho and Bdubs started first aid onto him...

Chapter Text
His eyes faded in and out of consciousness as the world grew busy around him. At first a glimpse of his coworkers and friends trying to help him, at second a muffled hurried voice. The world faded back out again. A brief bright light flooded his eyes, as he tried to move towards the light muffled music began to play, with a distant distressed voice.
"Wake up, wake up." The voice rippled and grew with anger "Wake up! Wake up! Wake! Up!"
The voice itself faded being overshadowed by a different more familiar voice.
"Please. Please don't leave me Scar, I can't lose you too."
The hospital room was still; the beeping of the machines broke the awkward gaps of Grian's weak pleas. Grains slumped in the chair besides Scar, his face glum and tired. The soft hum of the machines paired with their tiny blinking lights gave melancholy and hope. Grian had sat by Scars side for weeks, sleeping in the chair, whispering stories and praying to whoever and whatever might help. Scott had visited with his husband Jimmy a few times, leaving handpicked poppies from their garden in the ceramic vase that Captain pearl made and brought. Everyone for that matter who worked at life~soares airline visited as much as they could. Even neighbours like Bigb came, to comfort Grian and pray for scars recovery. With each hour Grian's hope faded slightly, Scar showed no signs of improvement.
Then, a flicker.
Scar’s eyelids trembled, a faint movement so small Grian almost missed it. He leaned forward, holding his breath.
“Scar? Can you hear me?”
The machines continued their rhythm, but this time, Scar’s fingers twitched in Grian’s grasp. Slowly, painstakingly, his eyes opened—dazed, confused, but alive.
Tears streamed down Grian’s face before he could stop them. “Oh my God… you’ve come back.”
As consciousness in Scars body began to rise, in panic he gasped for air. His eyes darted around the room, flowers on the table calmed his lightning brain.
"Scar! you're awake?"
"Who are you?"
"Scar? It's me, Grian, your husband."
"My what? No, where am I? It looks like a hospital. Doctor! Doctor help!" Scar pushed the emergency room alert button in his panic.
A short kind looking woman with flaming hair ran into the room.
"You're awake!" The doctor stopped in here surprise in utter shock "I'm Doctor Tay, Why are you asking for help?"
"This strange man claims to be my spouse!" Scar pointed at Grian "I have never gotten married, this is some type of scam."
"Doctor, if I may? I think he has memory loss?" Grian perked up, concerned.
"I do not have memory loss, I know who I am and who my friends are." Scar growled
"Okay sir, can I run some tests? Vocal and medical?"
"sure, but get this hooligan out!"
"Mr Grian? Maybe its best if you step outside. You can call some friends and family while we work?"
While he wiped away his tears he mumbled "Yeah, that sounds like a plan."
The world outside the hospital room hadn’t changed—but for their marriage, everything had just became uncertain.
