Chapter 1: Chapter One.
Chapter Text
Shoyo had started his last year of high school a few months ago, being a third year, yet this year has been anything but pleasant for him. His English teacher, Tobio Kageyama, had made this year a great pain in the ass for him. Kageyama was your typical bitchy teacher, the type of teacher you have no clue why they became a teacher in the first place. Bitchy might not have been the right word for him, but most students referred to him being ‘bitchy’. He was only twenty three years old, making him practically the youngest teacher in the school. Of course, he had his fangirls, but what male teacher didn’t have fangirls? Every other student hated his guts.
He was too demanding, too strict, was very harsh with grading, nothing about him was likeable. The only thing he had going for him was that he was good at making people understand the material, and that he was hot. That was it. He was unenthusiastic about teaching, he never smiled, he never let his guard down. He never seemed fond of any student, in fact, Shoyo’s upper classmen warned him about him. Daichi, Sugawara, and Asahi, before graduating, had Kageyama, and warned Shoyo all about him. That’s where he got most of this information from. He figured it wouldn’t be that bad.
Oh but it was that bad, maybe even worse than before. He had the teacher with his two close friends– Yachi and Nishinoya. They made his class somewhat bearable. However… he always got in trouble for talking too much and not doing his work. Yet he managed to piss off the teacher when he was quiet and focused on his work too– there was no winning with this guy!
Shoyo normally would’ve agreed with the other students, he never understood teachers that taught students while not enjoying teaching. However it didn’t seem like Kageyama didn’t enjoy teaching, it was more like he just wasn’t good at getting along with them. As the weeks went on, a rather dawning and disgusting feeling became more and more prevalent. He… liked this guy. He couldn’t place his finger on why, on what was so appealing about him. Kageyama should be the exact opposite of what he liked. He usually didn’t like demanding people, tyranny, or anything like that. This stupid man who was always glaring at him with his dark blue eyes, his black hair sometimes in the way– this was bad.
His friends didn’t understand it either.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shoyo was sitting outside with Yachi and Nishinoya, they were in the outside part of the cafeteria. It was normally too hot to sit out here, but winter was approaching, making the outside more crisp and the heat more tolerable.
“This trip they’re talking about is such bullshit!” Nishinoya announced. “You’re still caught up on that?” Yachi asked with a sigh. Shoyo was confused, raising a brow at his two friends.
“What trip?” He asked, tilting his head slightly.
“You seriously don’t know?! They’re making all third years go to the mountains for the first week of Christmas break!” Nishinoya complained, standing up dramatically and waving his arm. “Hey…calm down,” Yachi murmured nervously, rubbing the back of her neck.
“How would that even work? We have like…a hundred third years,” Shoyo mumbled, looking down at the paper he was originally working on. Nishinoya sighed, sitting down dramatically as he looked like he was thinking harder than he normally did. “If I remember correctly,” Yachi started, “it’s ten people per cabin plus a teacher, and it's split. Like five cabins for boys, five for girls…”
Shoyo let out a dramatic sigh, great. That means Mr. Bitchly would be there. A part of him felt excited, he liked going to the mountains– he used to live there. He just didn’t think there was a place with that many cabins in one area, but he shouldn’t be shocked. “That means Mr. You-know-who will be there,” he whined, putting his head down on the table. Yachi could only giggle while Nishinoya raised a brow at him, “I thought you liked him?”
Shoyo groaned, he did like him. That was the problem. “We aren’t supposed to talk about that!” Shoyo huffed, whining almost as he frowned. “I mean, there’s a chance he ends up being our group's supervisor.” Nishinoya pointed out, making Shoyo whine even more.
“Him? I doubt he’d even volunteer to go.” Yachi commented, filling Shoyo with some relief. “Hey, how come I haven’t heard of this trip anyways?!” He questioned, making Nishinoya laugh.
“You were probably absent, remember when you got so nervous for english you ended up catching a fever?”
“Oh shut up!”
“Why are you so mad about it, Nishinoya?” Yachi asked, making his carefree attitude drop. “Because, I don’t want to spend a whole week of our break from school…with the school!” Nishinoya pointed out, shaking his head and crossing his arms. “I want to go hang out with Asahi, I haven’t seen him in forever.”
“Oh right, Asahi. I guess we are missing out on seeing Daichi and them some…” Shoya sighed, leaning back up to sit up straight.
“Speaking of them, they are very concerned about your little crush.” Yachi stated smugly. “You told them?!” Shoya yelped, shaking her by her shoulders, “You weren’t supposed to tell them!”
“I just don’t get what you see in him man,” Nishinoya sighed, shaking his head.
Shoyo didn’t understand it either. Normally he hated teachers like Kageyama, but something about him attracted him. Pulled him in, whatever terminology those love stories use. Shoyo never saw himself as a student liking a teacher, not at all. However it wasn’t like he planned on telling him, god that would go horrifically. It was embarrassing, really. It didn’t help when his friends teased him all the time, even in Kageyama’s class.
“I don’t know either…” Shoyo let out an exaggerated sigh, “But it isn’t like I plan on telling him.”
The rest of the morning before classes was spent with Shoyo mostly arguing with Yachi for telling their college friends, and Nishinoya complaining about having to spend a week in the mountains. Soon, the bell for classes to start rung, making them head to their individual classes. Shoyo only had to deal with Kageyama for fifth period, so he waited as the time ticked on slowly until it was eventually fifth period. He had lunch after the class, so that was something to look forward to.
“So…Shoyo, about that trip,” Nishinoya whispered, since he sat next to Shoyo in the class. “Apparently most of the third year teachers are gonna be there, you may be able to see Mr. hot stuff,” Nishinoya dug his elbow into Shoyo’s side. Shoyo groaned, “I don’t want to see him.”
The two continued going back and forth, not realizing class had already started. “What if he’s our cabin’s advisor? You’re telling me you wouldn’t be happy with that?” Nishinoya murmured, quietly of course.
“Why you–”
“Mr. Hinata!” Kageyama practically shouted, making Shoyo jump and yelp, looking over to the teacher. Even when he was mad, Shoyo couldn’t help but notice how good he looked. He had sharp facial features, his hair suited him perfectly, and he had a pretty rare eye color here in Japan. God, he hated this.
“How many times do I have to tell you two to stop talking in my class?!” Kageyama put a hand on his hip, walking closer to Shoyo’s desk. His heart dropped as he leaned over it, staring down at him. “If this happens one more time, I’m moving you two away from each other. Now you have detention.” Kageyama spoke lowly, sending shivers down his spine as he gulped. Damn it, he was going to be late to volleyball practice if he had detention, but no way was he going to argue back.
“Yes sir…” He murmured, rubbing the back of his neck as Kageyama continued on with teaching the class. This isn’t the first time he’s gotten in trouble, in fact he was quite the trouble maker in Kageyama’s class. To be fair, it wasn’t hard to piss off Kageyama. Shoyo sometimes got lost in thought in the class, daydreaming as he stared at Kageyama, making him miss a question he asked. Or He got too engrossed in a book or another assignment that he, again, missed a question.
The bell for lunch rang, and everyone flooded out the classroom as Kageyama sat at his desk. Nishinoya was talking Shoyo’s ear off as he gathered his things, Yachi looking like she felt bad for Shoyo’s detention.
“And then boom ! He killed him out of anger! I honestly had to pause it–” Nishinoya had been talking about a show he was watching, Shoyo didn’t pay no mind. He was more upset about not only getting in trouble but being late to volleyball practice.
“Geez, did he scare you that bad?” Nishinoya asked, putting a hand on his hip. “Hey…don’t ask him that,” Yachi tried to whisper.
"What?! No!” Shoyo tried to defend, a little too loudly. Shoyo could practically feel daggers being burnt into his skin from how hard Kageyama was glaring at him.
“I better see you in detention, Mr. Hinata. Mr. Nishinoya, you too!” Kageyama grumbled out, finally going back to typing on his computer. Shoyo let out a sigh, he was screwed indefinitely.
“Huh?! Why me?” Nishinoya tried to argue.
“Because you were the one talking to him!” Kageyama said without even looking at him. Geez he was cold…
—--
The cold wind hit Shoyo’s face as he looked around the crowded school parking lot, watching the lines of students cram into the buses lined up. It was the night the third years were leaving to go to the mountains for the ridiculous school trip. Shoyo stood there in line with Nishinoya and Yachi, everyone wearing jackets and scarfs.
“There sure are a lot of people here…” Yachi commented, walking behind Shoyo and Nishinoya.
“Yeah, I didn’t think there were so many people in our grade,” Nishinoya added, crossing his arms to keep himself warm as he looked around, his breathing obvious by the white cast that came after each breath.
It wasn’t all that surprising to Shoyo, this was the one thing he wasn’t sure if he was excited or nervous. Probably both. It was eight at night, a few hours after their last exam before Christmas break. He wanted to be home, laying in bed, probably on call with his friends from other schools, hell– see if Daichi or Sugawara was on break yet or not. No, he was here in the freezing cold, face covered by his scarf and his arms wrapped around him to warm himself up.
“You seem to be in a sour mood, Nishinoya.” Shoyo commented, noticing the sour look on his face.
“Did you expect me to be happy right now?” Nishinoya murmured, “it’s freezing cold, and look how long the line is.”
He wasn’t wrong, it was still a long line before the buses, they got there a little too late. Yachi put a hand on Nishinoya’s shoulder, “I know you didn’t want to come here, Noya. But I’m sure it’ll still be fun.” She tried to comfort, which Nishinoya tried to nod and agree with. After what felt like forever, they were finally loading up on the last bus, the three sitting in the back of the bus. Luckily, the teacher he was so worried about, was on another bus.
“See, it didn’t take too long,” Yachi said with a smile to Nishinoya and Shoyo as the bus started to head off. Shoyo had crossed his arms and laid his head against the window, he was tired. He couldn’t wait to get to the place just so he could sleep.
“Still, this is such bullshit,” Nishinoya huffed, “This has to be some elaborate plan to cheat the third years out of our break, it has to be.” Shoyo knew that going into this with a bitter attitude wasn’t the best idea. It guaranteed he wouldn’t enjoy it, so he tried to be a little more positive than Nishinoya was.
The bus ride was around three hours long, now being around 11 o’clock at night. It was even colder outside then at the school, snow everywhere and Shoyo regretted not wearing more layers. He had fallen asleep halfway through the ride, and woke up to the teacher in the bus going over the rules; such as no phones outside the cabin, bed times, no partying, etcetera. They didn’t check the students' bags though, so he wondered if that ‘no partying’ rule would really be followed.
The buses unloaded, and everyone could pick their groups, however it needed to be the same gender. Shoyo waved at Yachi before him and Nishinoya went out to group up with Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, and some other random kids until they had a little over ten people. There were five groups of ten for both boys and girls. The camp instructor told them there would be one teacher per group and that the cabins had a common room and two rooms. One really big room full of bunk beds, then a master bedroom for the teacher. It made sense, Shoyo was used to sharing big rooms due to being an athlete and going to stuff like training camps.
And of course, with Shoyo’s luck, Kageyama was his group's teacher. He could see the man walking towards them with a bag holstered over his shoulder, Shoyo glanced at Nishinoya who only grinned at him. “Seems like your favorite guy is our advisor,” He whispered. “Oh shut up!” Shoyo whisper-yelled at him back.
—-----
“What do you mean there’s not enough room?” Shoyo was confused, there was ten of them in the group, he was flabbergasted. Now Nishinoya was telling him there wasn’t enough room for him? It seems like Shoyo’s suspicion about their group looking a little too big was correct.
“I’m sorry, Hinata! It’s too late for us to recount or regroup… Here, I’ll look for a blanket with you.” Nishinoya offered, Shoyo huffed. This was just his luck, now he was gonna be stuck on the couch in the common room. As the two started looking everywhere for a spare blanket, the creak of a door open startled them.
“It’s you two…what are you two getting into now?” Kageyama stuck his head out from the door, not looking very happy to see Hinata and Nishinoya looking around the cabin. Shoyo just about died inside, looking like he’d seen a ghost as he looked towards Nishinoya in hopes he would explain.
“Ah…nothing sir. It’s just that…we don’t have enough room for Hinata. So we were looking for a blanket so he could sleep on the couch.” Nishinoya timidly explain, Kageyama had a way of scaring even the bravest of delinquents.
Kageyama cocked a brow, looking over to Hinata and then back to Nishinoya, “You miscounted? Isn’t your grade an even number?” He asked, not pleased with this discovery. Nishinoya shrugged, “I’m not sure what happened, sir. All I know is theres not enough room for Hinata.”
“That means a groups short then…” Kageyama muttered before sighing and looking at Hinata. “Just get in here, there’s no point in you sleeping on the couch. If the others figured out I let a student sleep on the couch, I'd be in deep trouble.” He groaned, opening the door wider. Shoyo stared like a deer in headlights. Get in there? As in share a room with him?
“Sir…I can’t do that! I can happily sleep on the couch, I won’t tell anyone!” Shoyo said quickly, looking towards Nishinoya who seemed just as shocked as he was.
“Why you little…” Kageyama took a deep breath, “either you share the room, or I’ll sleep on the couch.”
Now Shoyo was fucked. Shoyo on one hand didn’t want to share a room, his feelings for Kageyama were confusing and overwhelming at times, sharing a room– no, a bed with him wasn’t going to go well for him. But Kageyama was making an impossible trade, he couldn’t make a teacher sleep on the couch for crying out loud.
Nishinoya looked at Shoyo expectantly, holding back a smug grin on his face. Shoyo sighed through his nose, crossing his arms. “I can’t make you sleep on the couch.” He murmured, unsure of what to do.
“So will you share the room? Hurry up, before I change my mind.” Kageyama stated, leaning against the doorway and standing upright. God, he looked so good sometimes it was hard to focus on anything else. Shoyo was frustrated, he was cold and tired, and all he wanted was to sleep. However, if it’s just for one night, he can handle it, right? Surely they’d fix this tomorrow.
"Yes, I’ll share…” He said defeatedly, hearing a small laugh from Nishinoya. Kageyama only nodded his head, turning around and heading back into the room, leaving the door open for Shoyo. Nishinoya was now grinning ear to ear, “I guess this trip won’t be so bad after all,” He murmured, making Shoyo mutter “Shut up.”
Chapter 2
Notes:
Im seriously on a writing roll. This shouldn't be many chapters, but lord knows with me. Anyways, another short chapter! I worked all day on this so hopefully it was worth it! ALSO i wanted to point out I know that this is VERY unrealistic, esp with them sharing the room. Do i care? not really! This is for fun!
Chapter Text
The master bedroom was nothing special, rather simple actually. A king-sized bed in the middle with a night stand on both sides, a shelf area where– from the looks of it– seemed to be used to hold their bags, and a bathroom in the corner. Kageyama was in the bathroom, so Shoyo had some time to sit there and think about the predicament he was in. What were the odds of this? It was starting to feel like he was in one of those romance stories Tanaka constantly talked about. Shoyo was sure Kageyama wasn’t thrilled about this either, probably hated it actually. Despite Shoyo’s crush on him, he wasn’t the best student…the amount of times he’s gotten in trouble in his class was shameful.
He doubted the teacher was fond of him; though he isn’t fond of anyone it seemed. Even the other staff members seemed to not like him, given how many jokes other teachers made of Kageyama in their class, like “Well, you guys are lucky I’m not as demanding as Mr. Kageyama” and so on.
Shoyo opened his bag and grabbed a spare T-shirt and sleeping pants from it, then he sat the bag on the shelf, under Kageyama’s. He waited for Kageyama to get out before excusing himself quickly, dashing in there. He hoped taking a shower would help clear his mind, calm him down enough to where the thought of sharing the bed wasn’t so nauseating. It was only til everything was situated, right? He just needed to make it one night, then he’d be fine.
He stood in the shower, letting the hot water run down his face and body as he scrubbed his hair, he luckily brought his own hair things, but he could tell Kageyama did too since he could see the bottles of shampoo and conditioner that wasn’t his own was in there. He didn’t want to pay attention to the brand, he didn’t need such intimate details of this teacher right now. Shoyo had finally calmed down after a no more than eight minute shower, convincing himself that he could make it through the night.
He got dressed and towel-dried his hair, clutching his old clothes to his chest as he walked out before stopping in his tracks, almost dropping his clothes. Kageyama was already sitting up in the bed, his lower half covered by the blanket. He was reading, eyes focused ahead of him as he barely paid Shoyo any mind. That wasn’t the problem. The shirt he was wearing made Shoyo’s blood run cold. It was a fitted black t-shirt, it clung to Kageyama’s torso perfectly, showing off every bit of his muscular, toned body.
‘What the hell…’
Suddenly Kageyama’s head snapped to Shoyo, raising a brow. “What are you looking at? Hurry up so we can go to bed already, we have an early start tomorrow. You should know that by now,” He grumbled, making Shoyo tear his eyes away from him and rush to put his clothes in his bag. Great, now it was time for the hard part. He took a few small steps to the bed, before slowly sitting on the edge of it, grabbing his phone off the nightstand. He opened it and was mortified.
The group-chat with Nishinoya and Yachi had blown up, probably from both of their shock at Shoyo’s predicament. However, he had his phone on vibrate, and it was on a wooden nightstand. God, it must've driven Kageyama nuts .
“I’m sorry about the notifications… I forgot to turn my phone off…” Shoyo murmured, Kageyama huffing in response. “Remember next time, I have no clue what could’ve been so urgent,” He said, Shoyo couldn’t tell if Kageyama was mad or not, but he only nodded. He could respond to the messages tomorrow, he just needed to sleep and get this night over with.
Shoyo had slowly gotten under the covers and laid on his side, finally, he could get this over with, and forget this ever happened. He knows most people dreamed to be in his position, but he only felt nervous. Sure, a small, small part of him was excited to be sharing a bed with the one and only Kageyama. However it was hard to be excited when you also felt so nervous you could throw up.
“No ‘good night’? Even after being nice enough to let you sleep in here and not the couch?” Kagehina scoffed, was this guy serious?! Shoyo felt his stomach drop, and he slowly opened his eyes just to speak, throwing his head back to look at Kageyama, who was staring daggers into him.
“Good night, Mr. Kageyama… thank you for not making me sleep on the couch.” Shoyo didn’t know whether to be grateful or not, considering he was kind of forced to sleep here.
Kageyama let out a small “hmph” before nodding his head, mumbling “ I don’t feel like arguing with the other staff right now. We’ll figure it out,” he sighed, that might’ve been Kageyama’s nicest words he’s ever spoken. Shoyo finally closed his eyes, feeling slightly relieved. They’d work it out tomorrow, he’ll share the other room with his friends and whoever's left, and everything will be fine.
Shoyo listened to the thud of the book being closed and put down onto the other nightstand, the click of the lamp being turned off, and the shuffling of the covers as Kageyama turned onto his side. This felt way too intimate. How did Shoyo go from being yelled at in his class to sleeping with him? Nonetheless, he closed his eyes, trying to let the darkness envelop him and allow him to sleep.
—
Shoyo did not get that much sleep last night. He was too focused on trying not to touch the teacher the entire night. The bed was big, but Kageyama took up a lot of space. Sure, Shoyo didn’t need much space, he was pretty short. However, he slept spread out, and with Kageyama being right behind him, it was almost impossible. He did manage to fall asleep a few times but he kept waking up in the middle of the night. He didn’t even dare to brush Kageyama’s back.
Shoyo woke up to running water and his ears ringing for the final time, he grudgingly pulled himself to sit up and off the pillow. He was definitely tired, his eyes felt dry, aching with exhaustion. All he wanted to do was lay back down and go back to sleep without the stress of not touching the teacher, but if Kageyama walked out and saw him still sleeping then it wouldn’t be fun..
He checked his phone for the time, it was seven-forty AM, perfect timing he supposed, since breakfast started at seven-fifty. Shoyo quickly got up and changed– not wanting to get caught changing by Kageyama– and headed out the door, where Nishinoya waited for him with Tanaka on the couch.
“Dude, finally you’re awake!” Nishinoya called out, standing up to stand in front of Shoyo. “You left us on read ya’ know?” He complained, “and you look like a ghost! What happened?”
Shoyo quickly ushered Nishinoya outside, the cold air hitting his face and sending shivers down his back. There a small amount of snow everywhere, hopefully they wouldn’t be outside for too long. Rubbing his temple, he led Nishinoya to the bench where Yachi was sitting, already eating her breakfast. “Oh, you are all here!” She said with a smile waiting for Shoyo to sit down before she scooted closer and whispered, “You seriously got to sleep with him?!”
Shoyo sighed, laying his head on the bench’s table as he looked over to the cabin they walked out of, seeing Kageyama walking out. He quickly averted his eyes. “I did…I didn’t sleep well, I’m tired.” Nishinoya looked guilty all of a sudden, making Shoyo raise a brow, “What?”
“I…feel guilty because… a lot of the third years snuck out to go to this bonfire party in the woods.” Nishinoya explained, making Yachi nod, “So that’s where everyone went last night…”
Shoyo looked just about dead inside at the moment. So while he was freaking out, trying to find a way to sleep without bothering the teacher– hell, having to share a room with the teacher because there were too many students– everyone was sneaking out to a party all night?!
“You’re kidding…” Shoyo groaned, lightly banging his head on the table now. “Woah dude, how come you didn’t sleep well? I thought you’d sleep well due to…well…you know…” Nishinoya asked, making Shoyo just groan again. “I didn’t sleep well because I was trying not to lay against him…” He murmured. Yachi nodded her head in understanding, while Nishinoya stifled a laugh.
“Why? You’re sharing a bed, I highly doubt he’d get mad at you for it. It would be stupid too, he’s a big guy.” Nishinoya explained, tilting his head while rubbing Shoyo’s back. “I swear, it’s like you two forget he’s our teacher . I can’t just…lay against him.” Shoyo murmured. Sure, it was a king sized bed, but they weren’t expecting two people to be in the room.
—
Today’s activity was hiking, once the sun was out to warm them up more. In Shoyo’s mind he found it mundane, he used to live in the mountains after all, every walk home was a hike. However, he was tired and didn’t want to deal with it. Sure, the trail was clear and barely had any snow on it, but it just seemed stupid.
Each group took about 30 minutes. While waiting everyone was free to do what they wanted. Shoyo’s group was one of the last, so he really wanted to use this free time as an opportunity to take a nap, but he realized that if he did, he would have probably overslept. So instead, he sat inside the cabin with the group, talking to them for a long time, while also playing games on his phone.
It was around one in the afternoon, Shoyo’s group finally getting their turn and following Kageyama and the camp guide through the cold forest. Shoyo didn't pay much attention to what was being said, more so on the scenery around him. The cold breeze hitting his face, the white sky above them and the wet logs from the snow melting on them.
“Penny for a thought?” Shoyo heard Nishinoya’s voice beside him, Nishinoya catching up to Shoyo, who was a little behind everyone. “Why are you all the way back here?”
“Huh?” Shoyo asked, drawn out of his imagination as Nishinoya interrupted him. “What do you mean ‘huh’? You look more depressed than those movie posters outside the theaters,” Nishinoya implied, keeping his voice to a minimum to not annoy Kageyama or the guide.
“I’m just looking at the scenery, nothing special. Waiting for this walk to be over,” He mumbled back, shaking his head and rubbing a hand through his hair. “Kids really came out here to party last night?” He asked, finding it a little unbelievable. It would have been unimaginably cold, who would sit through it just to sit and drink with other annoying third years.
“You know, you sound like Daichi now!” Nishinoya chuckled, before rolling his eyes. “Yeah, stayed out here all night. It’s a wonder that no one’s sick right now.” He murmured.
“Are you seriously talking about that stupid party?” Tsukishima interrupted, shaking his head as him and Yamaguchi backed up a little. “They are sick, I can hear them all sniffling and coughing earlier.” he said with an annoyed tone. Well, at least Tsukishima and Yamaguchi didn’t go to the party.
Shoyo nodded along, eyeing the kids in front of him. Most of them seemed tired, so that at least checked out. He couldn’t exactly blame them, no one really wanted to go on this trip, the school barely gave them an option. You had to go unless you were sick or had some other excuse that was valid enough. However staying outside in the cold all night and getting drunk off your ass didn’t seem smart either.
It was around three when the group returned, and they had free time to do whatever they wanted after eating their late lunch. As long as they weren’t camping out in the cabins, going out of limits, or missing the upcoming dinner. They could go to the cabin for thirty minutes at each time, so Shoyo opted to take a quick thirty minute nap. As he walked into the cabin and into the room, he found Kageyama, sitting on the edge of the bed, looking deep in thought.
“Hinata,” Kageyama greeted as Shoyo walked in, making him yelp a little at his tone. Given that tone, the good news of him not having to share the room with Kageyama anymore was not going to happen. “Yes, Sir?” Shoyo asked as Kageyama ran a hand through his hair.
“So, unfortunately, it turns out that the staff miscounted how many seniors there were, so some also had some extra students. So I can’t send one of the students in our group to one of theirs, since they are already over packed. Looks like you’ll be here for the week.” Kageyama told him, and at this point the exhausted orange haired boy could only sigh. So he had to do this for a whole week? He was going to need to figure something out, he couldn’t keep feeling this exhausted all week.
“Did you need something?” Kageyama suddenly asked, bringing Shoyo out of his thoughts as he nodded his head, “I was going to take a nap,” He admitted, he hoped he wasn’t going to be asked why. Kageyama raised a brow and spoke lowly, “You realize you only have thirty minutes…right?”
Shoyo nodded, feeling embarrassed as he was called out, he was probably losing time the more they talked. “Yes…I just… didn’t sleep well.” He once again admitted. Kageyama stood up and approached him, and he expected a lecture, but all he got was a nod. “I’ll give you an hour, before I come and kick you out.” He said, walking out before Shoyo could even react. But he quickly felt relief at the extra time and got out of his layers, laying down in the bed and quickly falling asleep.
Chapter 3
Notes:
Sigh...as i said, I'm on a writing roll. One thing i want to add is 1. Hinata IS 18 in this story. and 2. this is incredibly unrealistic, no teacher would want to share a room with you nor offer to, and no good friend would be supportive of this. This story is just for fictional fun.
Chapter Text
Shoyo was woken up an hour later as promised, waking up in a startle as Kageyama shook him awake, “Times up, get up. I was being nice by giving you extra time,” Kageyama said, obviously annoyed at how long it was taking Shoyo to get up.
“Thank you, sir…” Shoyo murmured sleepily, quickly sitting up and rubbing his eyes. Kageyama left the room once he was sure Shoyo wouldn’t go back to sleep. Shoyo stood up, putting his jacket and scarf back on as he slowly left the cabin, seeing Nishinoya and Yachi sitting with Tsukishimia and Yamaguchi.
“Dude, finally! I thought the time limit was thirty minutes?” Nishinoya grumbled. “Took you long enough,” Tsukishima commented, Yamaguchi chuckling with him as Yachi only focused on writing down whatever she was writing.
“I got extra time…” Shoyo murmured, sitting down with them. “Oh, so you spend one night with him, and he’s already giving you special treatment, huh?” Tsukishima said smugly, making Nishinoya mutter “Shut up!” and look back at him.
“So…? How is the room arrangement going?” Yachi asked expectantly, putting her pen down. Shoyo let out a heavy sigh, he didn’t want to talk about this around Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, however they didn’t know about his little crush on Kageyama. He could keep it that way.
“Everyone else is overpacked, so…I’m stuck with him all week.” Shoyo explained, rubbing his hands together under the bench nervously. He couldn’t help but feel a little…excited? Was that even the right word? Kageyama seemed nicer like this, but Shoyo had to remember that was his teacher. Yes, Shoyo was eighteen, but he was still a student. He was sure Kageyama had morals, one of them definitely being not to like a student. What was he even getting ahead of himself for? Kageyama definitely did not like him.
Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, and Nishinoya looked shocked to hear everyone was overpacked, looking around to see if that was true. Shoyo had to wonder, could he really spend a whole week barely getting any sleep and relying on naps? He was bound to break eventually…He needed to work something out. The five of them talked for a while before deciding to go to the spot in the forest that the party was held last night.
Tanaka was actually already there, cleaning up. “Oh, hey guys! What are y’all doing here?” It was horrifically obvious a party had taken place here. Crushed cans were everywhere along with trash from snacks and other things. “You’d think they’d know how to clean up a mess, and now I’m stuck doing it!” Tanaka complained as he grudgingly picked up another can to put in the bag.
“How did they sneak all of this in anyways?” Yamaguchi murmured, Shoyo nodding in agreement. “Well, it’s not like they checked our bags. They expected everyone to be teachers' pets.” Tsukishima stated, shrugging his shoulders. Shoyo couldn’t help but agree, take a bunch of people from a christmas break, where they definitely planned on partying… they would just bring the party there.
“I don’t understand Hinata, if everyone comes out here to party then how come you can’t just take one of their beds?” Yachi suggested, Tanaka tilted his head in confusion while Nishinoya turned to face her. “Mr. Kageyama and the other teachers still think that they were in the cabins last night. If he left the room to sleep with us, then it would out the fact that the other seniors aren’t there.” He explained.
Shoyo crossed his arms, deep in thought. Nishinoya had a point, if he snuck out to sleep in the other room, Kageyama would definitely be suspicious. Plus, it wasn’t like he didn’t want to sleep in the room with Kageyama. A part of him was freaking out at the opportunity he was given.
“Ugh, this is so stupid,” Shoyo groaned out, putting his head in his hands. How was he going to do this? He couldn’t continue getting no sleep, it’d make Emerson suspicious on why he would keep taking naps. He doubted he’d give him the same grace he did today…Nishinoya and Yachi tried to be supportive, while Tsukishimia and Yamaguchi teased him. Tanaka continued cleaning despite being obviously confused for the rest of the time, finally making their way back for dinner and to go back into the Cabin’s with everyone else.
After dinner, everyone was in their cabins, everyone in the common room of Shoyo’s. Shoyo and Nishinoya and Tsukishima sat on one of the couches while Yamaguchi took the floor, everyone else sitting on the other couch or the floor. Kageyama was in the single chair, reading, not paying attention to whatever they were doing. Shoyo was mostly on his phone, going back and forth from that to staring at Kageyama. His sharp jawline, his full lips, the way his hair fell on his face; he was truly sculpted like a god.
“Hey, does anyone want to play a game?” Nishinoya broke the silence, making Tsukishima and Yamaguchi giggle. “Oh please, like what?” Tsukishima asked, making Nishinoya flush out of annoyance as he grumbled.
“Oh I don’t know, like never have I ever?” Nishinoya protested, making the others' heads peak up. “Oh hell yeah! I like that game,” Tanaka agreed, as did the rest of the people.
“Oh that sounds fun!” Shoyo agreed, looking over to Kageyama who stayed silent, probably too engrossed in his book to care.
“Alright, I’ll start. Never have I ever stolen something over twenty-dollars?” Yamaguchi asked, making one of the kids groan and put a finger down. The game continued until it got to Tsukishima, who glared at Hinata with daggers.
“Alright…never have I ever liked someone over four years older than me?” Tsukishima said smugly, making Nishinoya and Shoyo shoot a look over to him. “Dude! Not cool!” Nishinoya muttered.
“Do you wanna go?” Shoyo murmured, making Tsukishima laugh, “Hey now, if it doesn’t apply to you then there’s no need to get hostile!”
Shoyo had no clue how Tsukishima knew about his feelings, he knew Yachi or Nishinoya wouldn’t tell, was he just that obvious? Either way, Shoyo stayed silent after that, hoping his little outburst didn’t alert Kageyama. He wanted to strangle Tsukishima for putting him in this position, but alas he stayed put until it was time to go to sleep. Everyone said their ‘goodnight’s and headed back into the rooms, minus Shoyo and Nishinoya.
“You gonna be okay? I swear I didn’t tell that brat!” Nishinoya asked, and Shoyo nodded, standing up and stretching. “I know you didn’t, and I’ll be alright!” He reassured despite how his stomach was doing flips now.
Finally, Shoyo decided to go into the room. Kageyama sat there in the bed, sitting up and reading. He was in the same fitted shirt as before, Shoyo had to tear his eyes away as he went to his bag to grab some clothes and quickly hide in the bathroom. He hoped once more, that the hot water running down his body would help clear his mind, and would calm him down. His stomach was still doing flips,
He came out of the shower and changed into his shirt and sleeping pants. He found himself nervous to leave the bathroom, was something gonna happen? He had no clue, he just had to find blind confidence to walk out and put his clothes up. Finally, he opened the door and walked out, walking to his bag to put his other clothes up before going to bed. He got in the bed, plugging his phone up.
When put his phone down, Kageyama jumped. In the blink of an eye, Kageyama was hovering over him, pushing his wrist into the mattress. Shoyo went wide eyed and yelped, flinching a little before he realized it was Kageyama. What the hell?! What was this? His heart was beating so fast that he felt like it was going to break a rib.
Kageyama’s calm face no longer felt calm. There was the slightest difference that you could only notice if you studied it everyday, like Shoyo did. Shoyo was scared, scared he was about to get a lecture of a lifetime, scared he was about to get kicked out the room– no– even the class once they were back. Half of him didn’t want to know, half of him wished he would speak already, instead of staring into his soul.
Kageyama let out a heavy sigh before finally speaking, his grip loosening on Shoyo’s wrist. “How stupid do you think I am, Hinata?” He asked, his voice was a low rumble that sent shivers down Shoyo’s spine. Huh? Stupid? He didn’t think the teacher was stupid, no not at all.
“No sir…” Shoyo gulped, trying to look anywhere but Kageyama’s eyes, which was retorted by Kageyama getting closer so he couldn’t look away. Kageyama looked like he was studying every little reaction Shoyo had. The smallest tilt of his head, averting his eyes to avoid eye contact, The very uneven small breaths coming out of him. Shoyo was intimidated, but also felt a familiar warmth growing in his abdomen.
“I’m not an idiot, Hinata. Do you think I don’t notice how you and your friends act around me?” Kageyama backed his head up a little, finally letting Shoyo breathe a little. “You may not be the best student, but I can tell when a student is staring at me too much.” Kageyama stated, Shoyo couldn’t tell if he was mad or if he was…feeling something else. Shoyo gulped.
“You have no clue what you’re getting into, Hinata .” He emphasized his name by pushing Hinata further into the mattress, making Hinata gasp. His face felt like it was burning as Kageyama slowly let go, lifting himself up and moving to lay back on his side. What the fuck just happened? Did Hinata just imagine all that? He was in so much shock he didn’t move for a good few minutes, before slowly turning on his side.
A million questions were running through his mind as he laid there, wide awake. He didn’t know what to do, text his friends? No, they’d spam him all night. Leave? No, Kageyama would probably catch him. The most he could do is try to fall asleep.
—
This ‘going to sleep’ plan wasn’t going so well. He was uncomfortable with how he couldn't spread out without touching Kageyama. He was also so wired up from what had happened, he couldn’t focus on trying to go to sleep. He was tired– no, exhausted. He wanted to scream into the pillow from how frustrated he was. It must have been at least almost an hour since he had laid down. He tried to get as comfortable as possible without touching the teacher, but that was just impossible. Now what Shoyo did next, he had no idea why. Maybe it was because he was fed up by not getting any sleep.
Shoyo was tired of the edge of the bed, so he flipped over, and practically buried himself in Kageyama’s back. He had a strong back, that was for sure, but he wasn’t focused on that. Nom he was focused on how comfortable he was, how warm Kageyama was. Shoyo hummed in relief as he closed his eyes, not even thinking about how bad of a situation he just put himself in. Kageyama had just figured out his secret, and now he was cuddled up to him like a koala.
He fell asleep almost immediately, not thinking of how awkward or embarrassing this was going to be to wake up to.
Chapter Text
Shoyo woke up the next morning in the same position he fell asleep in, except Kageyama wasn’t there. Shoyo slowly rubbed his eyes, he felt refreshed, finally getting a full night of rest. However, once he remembered what had happened the night before, and what he did, he started to freak out. He had just made everything so much worse…
The Bathroom door opened, Kageyama walking out, already in his clothes for the day plus his jacket and scarf. “Are you awake yet?” Kageyama sighed, fixing his hair in the mirror before looking back at Shoyo. Shoyo just sighed, rubbing his eyes more as he nodded, “Yes sir…”
Kageyama looked back at him, his dark blue eyes staring daggers into Shoyo’s brown ones. He couldn’t decipher them, no matter how hard he tried to. Kageyama was impossible to read, and his face was so neutral that Shoyo couldn’t tell if he was mad or not. A slow realization came to mind…Kageyama probably had to unweb himself out of Shoyo’s arms that morning. Humiliation burned into Shoyo’s gut as he realized what he had done.
What does he do? Does he apologize? Does he act like it never happened? Before he could decide, Kageyama had walked out the door. Shoyo let out a breath of relief, a shiver from the cold went up his spine as it shook him fully awake. God what time was it? Shoyo checked his phone, it was past eight. God, he was horrendously late for breakfast.
Shoyo got up, fixing up the bed before he got dressed into his clothes, jacket, and scarf. Finally, he was walking out of the cabin and trying to find his friends in the crowd of benches and people. He grabbed some food before he found them, sitting down.
“Hinata! Where the hell have you been?” Nishinoya asked, nudging him. Shoyo could only put his head down in his arms on the table. He couldn’t believe what had happened last night, how Tsukishima outed him like that, then Kageyama…god. Why did he pin him down like that? Was he mad? He still couldn’t tell.
“Hey, are you okay?” Yachi asked, putting a hand on his shoulder for comfort.
“He knows…” Shoyo murmured, almost inaudibly.
“What?”
“He knows.” Shoyo said more clearly, thankful Tsukishima and Yamaguchi had sat somewhere else. He still had no clue how Tsukishima knew about his crush, but he’d be damned if he didn’t give him a piece of his mind to that stupidly tall man.
Nishinoya and Yachi glanced at each other, than to the teachers table, then back to Shoyo. “Are you serious? How?” Nishinoya asked, “Did that Tsukki guy seriously give it away like that?!”
Shoyo sighed but slowly shook his head, no, Kageyama must’ve known for a long time now. He did say that he noticed how him and his friends act when he’s around, maybe Tsukishima was just the final straw for him to talk to Shoyo about it. Shoyo still didn’t understand why he didn’t kick him out of the room.
“No, I think he’s known for a while now.” Shoyo said, finally lifting his head up finally. He wouldn’t give his friends the details– especially the pinned down part. However he did explain what Kageyama said to his friends, quietly of course. It would not be good for either of them if someone heard them.
“Hell, it kind of sounds like he brushed it off to me.” Nishinoya commented, shrugging his shoulders, “At least he didn’t kick you out though.” Yachi nodded in agreement to that, letting out a soft sigh.
“Well…Tsukishima still had something to do with it.” She commented shyly, though she was also good friends with Tsukishima, so she didn’t like putting him under the bus. This was just how Tsukishima was. A brat.
“Ugh! I’m gonna kill him!” Shoyo whined, putting his head back down as he remembered the night before once more, crippling under embarrassment.
Today’s assignment was something simple and rather boring, it was just inspecting the plants in the forest and trying to identify them using a little pamphlet the camp guide gave them. Shoyo was bored, in a secluded area with Nishinoya as they inspected the small plants. They heard footsteps behind them, turning around, it was Tsukishima and Yamaguchi.
“You–!” Nishinoya instantly jumped up, “What’s wrong with you?” Nishinoya asked, obviously staying quiet enough to not alert the teacher and gamp guide.
“What are you going on about, short stuff?” Tsukishima said in an unbothered tone. Shoyo stood up too, gripping Tsukishima’s shirt.
“Yesterday, during the game. Why’d you have to out me like that?” Shoyo murmured, clearly frustrated, he wasn’t completely mad per se, he just hated that Tsukishima made that question so obviously directed at him in front of everyone.
“Oh come on, you’re still upset about that? It was a harmless joke.” Tsukishima scoffed, removing Shoyo’s hand from his shirt. “Besides, if it doesn’t apply, it doesn’t apply.”
Shoyo sighed and let it go, kneeling back down to look at the plants once more, he decided it wasn’t worth his time to fight with his friend, he just wanted all of this over with.
“Well, it was still an asshole move!” Nishinoya huffed, a little too loudly. “Hey, don’t make me come over there!” Kageyama proclaimed loudly, making the four quickly quiet down and go back to the plants.
—
The day flew by quickly, they had their lunch and dinner, and once again, Shoyo was in the common room. He was alone this time, mostly because he was too nervous to go into the room. He was still waiting on the punishment for his feelings, even if this slightly excited him, he knew he shouldn’t act like all of this was normal.
He just didn’t get it, and quite frankly he doesn’t even know if he wants to know. This was all so confusing, just when did his life become like this? However, he knew he couldn’t stay in the living room much longer, not without causing suspicion. He much rather not have his teacher come out and start questioning him, so he hesitantly lifted off the couch and walked to the door of the room, taking a deep breath, he opened the door slowly, closing it fast behind him.
Once again, Kageyama was reading in the bed, in the same black shirt as the previous two nights. Shoyo grabbed some clothes and practically rushed into the bathroom to take a longer-than-usual shower. Mostly to prolong the time before having to see him again. He was trying to mentally prepare himself for what's to come, which was practically impossible; you can’t prepare for the unknown. Kageyama was a mysterious man, it was hard to predict his actions. Would now be when he kicks him out of the room? Because of him clinging to him to sleep? He knew it was wrong…
He walked out of the bathroom, slowly sitting on the edge of the bed. Nothing was said yet, but he decided to truly test the teacher– with a conversation.
“What are you reading?” Shoyo asked, breaking the unnerving silence in the room. Kageyama stayed silent for a moment, but he seemed to pause, maybe shocked that Shoyo said anything.
“Huh? Oh…” Kageyama started, turning to the front of the book to see the name. “It’s just a book about Bruno Rezende. He’s a volleyball player.” Kageyama finally answered, with a slightly suspicious tone. Was he seriously not going to bring up the elephant in the room?
“You like volleyball?” Shoyo asked, seemingly surprised. He’s never seen Kageyama at their games before, though it wasn’t like he was looking for him during his games.
“The volleyball coach and I got along, he recommended the book.” Kageyma answered hesitantly, looking down at the book. Interesting, so Kageyama and Coach Ukai were friends? That was very unexpected, but for once he found himself wanting to continue the conversation, learn more about Kageyama.
“What do you normally read then?” Shoyo pushed, he wanted to know more, he was deeply curious. “Mystery books.”
Well that explained why he was such a mysterious person, it almost pissed Shoyo off sometimes. Shoyo didn’t ask any more questions, instead he swallowed the lump in his throat and got under the covers, laying on his side. “Goodnight…” He murmured, not really getting anything back. However he heard the book shut close and felt him turn over, their backs were pressed together, Shoyo had finally gotten over his intense fear, it was better than clinging to him like he did before.
Chapter 5
Notes:
finally, FINALLY something actually happens with them. Please enjoy and pray for my fingers that now hurt from rushing this chapter out.
Chapter Text
Kageyama wasn’t in bed when Shoyo woke up, which wasn’t surprising at this point. He couldn’t hear people talking outside the room, so he probably woke up late again. Checking his phone proved his point, it was seven fifty-five, so not as late as yesterday, but still late. He wasn’t in any rush to get outside though, he found himself laying there and thinking.
Kageyama didn’t mention the night at all last night, he acted…more nervous— or awkward? He didn’t know the right word for it at all. He wasn’t as mean as he normally was though, that’s for sure. Shoyo shook his head, he couldn’t be thinking about this stuff when he just woke up.
He finally pulled himself out of bed, tidying it up and making sure it was neat before he changed into his clothes. He was finally walking out of the cabin around eight something, grabbing his breakfast before once again finding his friends.
“You took your sweet ass time, Hinata!” Nishinoya commented, jokingly elbowing him. “I’m sorry, I overslept.” Shoyo murmured out, whining a little as he took a bite of his food.
“So…has he said anything?” Yachi asked, normally she wasn’t really as curious as Nishinoya about these topics, it was a little shocking that she asked.
“Nope…” Shoyo sighed, he was already embarrassed. He had bumped into Kageyama while grabbing his food, and he got so panicked that he didn’t even apologize as he quickly ran to the benches. Today was going to be so awkward.
“To be honest, I’m shocked he still lets you sleep in the same bed as him…considering, ya’ know.” Nishinoya commented, “That’s what I’m saying!” Yachi added.
Shoyo shrugged, he didn’t understand it either. All he knew was the week was halfway through. He just had to make it through these next two days and then everything would go back to the way it was. “What are we doing today, anyways?” Nishinoya pondered.
“Ah…We’re doing a study group about the plants we discovered yesterday.” Yachi said, making both Shoyo and Nishinoya groan. “But they were mostly dead,” Shoyo grumbled.
“We’re gonna be sitting with our groups going over some pages in a book, I don't think even the teachers are looking forward to it.” Tsukishima said as he walked by with Yamaguchi, joining them at the table.
—
Tsukishima was right, they were basically sitting with their group in the bigger bench tables with the teacher and the camp guide, going over the book. Kageyama had sat between Shoyo and Nishinoya, probably to prevent them talking. Shoyo’s thigh was touching Kageyama’s, which he tried to pretend didn’t make him flustered.
Shoyo read through the boring pages of the text book, looking unenthusiastic as possible. Nishioya and Tanaka shared that semblance, looking just as– possibly more than– bored than Shoyo. Shoyo tried acting like his leg wasn’t squished next to Kageyama’s, even though it was more than impossible to ignore. He still had no clue why Kageyama seemed like Shoyo having a crush on him didn’t bother him. His leg bounced up and down under the table, his head slowly falling forward onto the book.
“Hey–” Kageyama started, obviously about to lecture him, but the camp guide got to him first.
“Mr. Hinata, I understand this may not be your interest, but don’t fall asleep on the book.”
He could hear Tsukishima and Yamaguchi giggling, making him shoot them a glare as he grudgingly brought his head up, resting it on his palm as he muttered a “sorry”. This couldn’t have been more boring than anything else on this stupid trip. Maybe he should have faked being sick to get out of it.
Finally, the activity was over, and everyone was free to do what they wanted, as long as they were mostly outside. Shoyo and his friends went back to the area in the woods where the parties have been held these past few nights. “Y’ know, I’ve been thinking. Maybe the reason he hasn’t said anything is because maybe he…y’ know…” Nishinoya started.
It took Shoyo a second to grasp what Nishinoya was saying, but when he did he immediately shook his head and put his hands up defensively, “No– No way! There’s no way he has feelings for me! Did you forget he’s our teacher?!”
“Well that’s the thing about love,” Nishinoya said, suddenly growing more serious.
“What are you talking about now?” Yachi murmured, Shoyo nodding in agreement.
“With most people, we don’t choose who we love, we just…do.” Nishinoya stated, a moment of silence passed before Shoyo and Yachi began bursting out laughing.
“That is— probably the most serious thing you’ve ever said in your— whole life!” Shoyo managed out through laughter. “Yeah– what happened to you?!” Yachi added, both of them at this point rolling on the ground.
“Hey! I’m being serious!” Nishinoya argued, almost kicking Shoyo. Shoyo finally collected himself and stood up. “Look— Mr. Kageyama does not like me, not in that way. Maybe he truly doesn’t care that I like him, maybe because I’m not dropping to my knees and drooling like those girls.” Shoyo said, patting Nishinoya’s back. Though he wasn’t sure if he believed it himself.
—
After dinner, everyone had retired to their rooms. Shoyo was once again posted out of the room and in the common room. He was thinking back to the conversation from earlier– was it possible that Kageyama actually liked him? It didn’t make sense, but at the same time it might’ve been the only logical answer to this whole mystery of why Kageyama refused to talk about it and hasn’t kicked him out of the room.
Kageyama was a very attractive man, he was your casual tall, muscular man and it looked good on him. Shoyo actually heard from Tsukishima that he used to play volleyball back in his high school days. Which would explain why he was friends with their school’s volleyball coach, considering apparently he went to this school.
Shoyo shook his head, this was too much thinking for one day, he needed to get some rest before he drove himself absolutely crazy.
—
Thursday was so plainfully uneventful for the most part, they basically got to do whatever they wanted for that day– consider it a free day. Him and his friends actually went on the hike trail, Shoyo finally getting to appreciate the view now that he had proper sleep. He was mostly geeking out over the sights, while his friends complained about their legs hurting.
It was that night when Shoyo and Nishinoya decided to meet in the common room after everyone went to bed. For Nishinoya that was easy– Shoyo it was not. He literally slept in the same bed as one of the teachers. Trying to sneak out was a big no-no, especially now that they had found out about the parties. Of course, Shoyo could say he was getting a drink. It wasn’t like he was planning on going to that ridiculous party.
He waited until he could hear the light snoring coming from Kageyama before he got out of the bed, tip-toeing to the door and opening it slowly before closing it. Phew, he had made it.
“I’m still nervous,” He confessed to Nishinoya as he sat next to him on the couch, running a hand through his hair. “Huh? I already explained why you shouldn’t be nervous! What’s wrong?” Nishinoya protested, tilting his head.
“I know! It’s just— I thought this was something I would be able to get over in a few months and not focus on it, but it’s like as it goes on it gets more intense.” Shoyo confessed once more, making Nishinoya sigh, like he’s about to try to be the wise one again.
“So what if it’s not going away? So what if it’s getting more intense? Since you’re in such a rush to get rid of it, you’ll probably be over it by the time we graduate.” Nishinoya explained, it was true. They will graduate soon. But that didn’t make Shoyo feel any better. What if he missed Kageyama? What if he tried to find Kageyama in someone else?
“Secondly, you’re probably fine . He hasn’t said anything, right? What makes you think he’ll say anything now? He’s probably trying to avoid it as much as you are.”
Shoyo sighed, “It’s just awkward. It’s like I know he knows, its a tension.” It was all driving Shoyo nuts, what drove him up the wall was he had no clue how Kageyama was handling it. He always had this stupid calm and collected look, a look that was unreadable. Yet, Kageyama could read Shoyo like an open book.
“At least when this is over, I can avoid him at school.” Shoyo murmured. “Dude, that’s just avoiding your problems! And you know that never goes well.” Nishinoya said.
Shoyo had stood up, frustrated as he whisper-yelled. “Well, what am I supposed to say? Yeah I have a dying crush on you, but please forget about it ?” Shoyo grumbled out. “ Obviously not,” Nishinoya chuckled, he couldn’t help but laugh whenever Shoyo got frustrated like a kid.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Tanaka was tip-toeing out, before making eye contact with the two. “Oh, hey guys!” He said, a little too loudly. “Whatcha talking about?”
Nishinoya suddenly had an idea, grinning ear to ear as he stood up next to Shoyo. “How about you go to the senior bonfire? It may get your mind off things?” He offered. Shoyo sighed, “No, I’m not a party person, and aren’t they on the look out for those kids now?” Shoyo asked.
“Look, ten minutes is all i’m asking.” Nishinoya started pleading, “If you hate it so badly we can come back here and go to sleep.”
Shoyo thought about it for a moment, but he knew Nishinoya would drag him one way or another, so he let out a long sigh and nodded. “Fine, ten minutes . That’s it.” He murmured, and with that, they followed Tanaka out of the cabin and into the forest.
—
Shoyo was pissed. After ten minutes at this overcrowded bonfire, he could no longer find Nishinoya nor Tanaka. He spent more than ten minutes waiting, until he got tired and decided to walk by himself in the dark. He had finally made it back to the cabin, cursing under his breath the entire time.
Walking back inside, he realized he would have to be really subtle about getting back into the room. He took a deep breath before holding it as he slowly creaked the door open, the room was still dark, and Kageyama still seemed to be asleep. With each step came a subtle creak in the floorboards, but somehow he managed to get back into the bed, heaving for air.
However, before he could even flip over to lay on his side, the lamp turned on and Kageyama was on top of him, holding him down by his wrists. Shoyo yelped as his eyes opened wide, Kageyama’s face barely an inch away from his own. Shoyo’s heart started pounding as Kageyama fully climbed over, his body between his legs.
“Where have you been? Don’t tell me you went to that stupid bonfire,” Kageyama said slowly, his tone sending shivers down Shoyo’s spine, his body shaking with both excitement from their position, and nervousness. Shoyo didn’t know what to say, but he quickly realized something. Kageyama only slept in his boxers, how did he know? He could feel him pressing against himself. Shoyo gulped, looking back up to Kageyama’s eyes as he whispered.
“I’m sorry, Nishinoya convinced me to go and–” Before he could finish his sentence, Kageyama’s lips were on his. Shoyo yelped, at first too shocked to move. Kageyama didn’t move, in fact he almost pulled away before Shoyo lost his train of thought and kissed him back. Their lips moved together in a steady flow, Kageyama would slowly bite down on Shoyo’s lower lip, his hip twitching against Shoyo’s.
Shoyo couldn’t help but moan, the friction was delicious as his hips quickly moved back, his lips parted. Kageyama quickly took advantage of that, his tongue smoothly sliding into his mouth, wrapping around his tongue before it started guiding Shoyo’s tongue. Shoyo was quivering under him as their hips slotted together perfectly over and over again. He could feel Kageyama’s tongue running over his teeth, his hips now deliberately pressing his erection against Shoyo’s.
Shoyo whimpered, his eyes closing as his hips desperately thrusted up to meet with his, his wrists struggled under Kageyama’s hands, aching to touch him, aching to feel up his toned body and grope any amount of muscle his small hands could fit. Finally, one of Kageyama’s hands left Shoyo’s wrist, only to go down to Shoyo’s waistband and tug on it. Shoyo nodded eagerly, not even thinking at this point that this was his teacher and that they shouldn’t be doing this.
Kageyama pulled down Shoyo’s pants and underwear, his hand slowly grasping around Shoyo’s cock, slowly stroking him as he moved on Shoyo’s lips to his neck, kissing and lightly sucking on his neck, careful not to leave any marks on him. Shoyo had to clasp his now freed hand over his mouth to stop himself from moaning too loudly, god forbid anyone in the next room hear them.
His hips twitched into Kageyama’s hand, thrusting up into it. He threw his head back, overstimulated with how Kageyama’s hand twisted as it went up, his thumb spreading the pre that leaked out from his slit and using it to coat his entire cock. This was the final straw for Shoyo, he was going to cum extremely fast, the thought of the teacher he’d had a crush on for so long doing this to him was already enough to bring him closer.
With a loud whimper as a warning, he came into Kageyama’s hand and over his stomach, not even realizing his shirt was pushed up. He heaved out as Kageyama slowly pulled away, his cheeks were flushed and his eyes were dark.
“Don’t tell anyone about this, please.” Kageyama murmured, his breathing was also heavy and his voice was husky with desire, Shoyo could only nod, still blissed out from this rollercoaster of emotions.
