Chapter Text
The moment Hitoka stepped off the bus and onto the rocks, stumbled from the boy behind her jumping off and running to his group of friends, and fell flat on her ass- she knew this would not be a good week and a half.
She had never actually wanted to go to this camp. It had been her moms idea for her to make some new friends. She had friends, just not many.
She had Shimizu, Saeko, Kaori, and Kaori’s girlfriend Yukie who she’s never actually talked to- but she still counts. Well, actually, no. None of those girls count, being completely honest.
Shimizu was a school friend- (a school friend is someone who you’re only really friends with because you’re in close quarters with them), and Saeko was the sister of a boy on Yachi’s brother’s volleyball team. As for the other two; they went to a completely different school, in a completely different prefecture- so Yachi barely saw them at all.
“‘Toka.” A voice behind her said, and Yachi turned to see Kei standing behind her, with Akiteru looking antsy to go find his partners that he said would also be here, and the only reason Kyou wasn’t there is because he was sitting at the very back of the bus, “Get up. You’re blocking the walkway.”
How much Yachi wished for a sister. Someone like Saeko, who understood the struggles of girlhood and sympathized with her instead of laughing when she got hit in the face with a volleyball(kei), or being the one throwing the volleyball(kyou), or being the one sitting on the sidelines texting his girlfriends(correction: girlfriend and boyfriend, Yachi would soon come to realize) and refusing to help despite her cries of anguish(akiteru.).
When Yachi continued sitting for barely a second ; Kei leaned down, grabbed her from under her armpits, and lifted her up like a sad cat to toss to Akiteru behind him. “You’re too heavy,” Kei grumbled, stepping down the steps and her eldest brother carried her down with him. While Yachi expected Akiteru to, maybe, put her down on the ground and let her walk on her own two feet to her assigned cabin- he surprised her.
Not by much, however.
As she always knew her older brother hated her.
Akiteru stood by the side of the bus, waited for Kyoutani to come out rubbing at his eyes and mumbling about how ‘the ride was too short’, then simply tossed the poor girl into the unsuspecting and tired boy's arms. “Carry her, and have an awkward and miserable first day of camp!” The cause of her torture beamed , waving at the two before bursting into a sprint of collapse over a slumped over, tired Saeko, and a black haired girl(correction: BOY) Yachi didn’t recognize.
Akiteru had been here for three years in a row now, at least as a camper. Kei had gone for the year before, and Kyou has never been- as he only just moved in with them and away from their father last fall.
Fall…hmm…
Oh, yeah!
Yachi was still falling through the air!<3
Kyou snapped his head up when the blonde girl was carelessly tossed like a bag of grapes(haha do you see the reference. pls laugh), instinctively throwing his arms out and grabbing her. He growled at where Akiteru once stood, which then only further reassured Yachi that her older brother was a rabid dog in his past life.
Still, he begrudgingly shifted Yachi to a princess-esc carry to bring her to her cabin. For them; at least since Yachi broke her leg last summer and couldn’t walk for two months, this was the norm. Since Kei outright refused to carry her, and Akiteru always pretended to drop her- (until he accidentally did drop her one time). Kyoutani and their mother, when she could, became the designated ‘carriers’, since the crutches she was originally given dug into her arms and left bruises that school counselors questioned, and Kyou said he could barely feel her in his arms.
Kyoutani grabbed her wrist, glancing at the number painted in pink on the back of her hand, and dropped her in front of the seventh cabin. Well- Yachi would say he dropped her. He actually gently set her down on her feet, patted her down to get the dirt and some stray rocks off of her, gave her a thumbs up, and went his way to the cabin across from hers by one- number ten.
Yachi let out a breath she didn’t know she’d been holding when she steps inside the cabin, eyes shutting in peace for the first time that week. Pink and purple shreds of paper hang from the ceiling and top bunks, remnants of silly string being all around the room, and there was a massive(don’t.) banner that was strung between the two first bunks across from each other that read WELCOME FIRST YEAR GIRLS!! . Honestly, ignoring all that - and more listening to the fact that this would be an entire week and a half with no older brothers; she felt like she was in heaven.
There were thirteen cabins, six on each side and then one at the end- boys and girls separated no matter what so nothing nasty happened. This rule didn’t apply to Yachi, however. (or even most of the campers she knew because all of the ones she did know played volleyball. And that was the second gayest sport you could play, right behind wrestling. Why is wrestling so gay? You’re like, tackling a sweaty, oiled up guy for around thirty minutes and you’re gonna tell me you AREN’T doing that because you’re into it?) For one, she was a lesbian.
…
That’s it.
The cabins were also decided by age range- more so, ‘school’(?) rang. Cabins eleven and twelve were third years, nine and ten second, seven and eight first, and then five/six were older middle schoolers while three/four were younger, and one and two were anyone below that.
The cabin you were in decided which activities you did; like cabins seven through twelve got to practice archery with real arrows, while three to five had to use ones with rubber ends. One and two didn’t even do archery, and instead they would have swimming while those lessons were going on.
Yachi was snapped out of her thoughts by a cold, sticky substance being shot onto her face(that sounds SO bad omg). At first, she was scared. Maybe some girl snuck a boy in and was getting dirty, and Yachi's face was where the after effect landed. She didn’t know the range(holy shit) cum had, she was a first year and virgin! How the FUCK was she supposed to know that?? Oh, but that’d be nightmarish. For her and the ‘couple’, which would probably just be two first years who would break up in a week because he liked her friend's Insta post. Yachi didn’t open her eyes, ready for the worst, hands reaching up to pull the…string(?) off.
“Welcome to camp, Hitoka.” A familiar voice said, and Yachi blinked with a smile at Shimizu Kiyoko. Then, she looked at the girl in front of her holding a now empty can of silly string. Seems the last of it was used on her. Of course, that explained the leftover mess of the wood- this must be some sort of intro thing the girls do.
The woman in front of her was something from her dreams. And that was very limited; as Yachi has had a maximum of two dreams in her life that she actually remembered. She had short black hair, with dark eyes and a beautiful mole over her lip. She also had a name tag, so Yachi assumed she was this cabin's counselor. It read KANOKA AMANI, CABIN SEVEN MONITOR . Under that was a Niiyama red and white jersey; probably for her school’s volleyball team.
In Yachi's eyes, she was the second prettiest girl at camp. Right behind Shimizu, because that girl was a literal goddess and no one could beat her. (Besides maybe Aphrodite herself.)
Yachi wasn’t raised Christian or Catholic or anything. Well, kind of. Her mother- and father, when he was around, were always quietly religious. They read bible verses to get Akiteru to sleep when he was young and didn’t understand a word they were saying, and brought Kei to church when everything was too loud for him and he needed a break, and forced Kyoutani to church when he wasn’t behaving.
The only one of them that had ever been baptized was Kyou, and that was after he had come home late one night in his first year of high school with alcohol on his breath and rambles of spirits with his friends falling from his lips. Their father had flipped, shouting about how he had let the devil into himself, and that he was going to be punished severely after they rid him of the ‘demonic aura’ surrounding him.
The next day, they forced him into the car and drove to their local church. While Kyou said that he was fine, and they barely talked to anything- he still got soaked. However , he told Yachi later, I did get to see the cute freckly boy again.
The cute freckly boy was the green haired first year that Kei was friends with, and that Kyou was really into. He sometimes went to their church, but he mostly hung out with Kei during and after school. To say Kyoutani was jealous would be an understatement. However, he knew he couldn’t hold it against his brother. For one, they were friends in middle school. And two, Kei was the most aroace boy to meet. So, there was no way he’d even want him.
Tadashi, was his name. At least that’s what Kei usually called him, alongside ‘Yams’ and ‘Yamaguchi’, and sometimes ‘idiot’. Kyou had only talked to him a few times, but he was totally head over heels. I don’t really care, honestly. Kyou had once told her after she got home from middle school after seeing her first girl-crush and asked if their mother was homophobic, It’s not like it’ll affect me. I’ll still see Tadashi- and she can’t do anything about that.
Now, Yachi felt the exact same when she stared into the eyes of Kanoka.
She didn’t know if her mother was homophobic. Neither did Kyou, or Kei, and maybe Akiteru knew but he didn’t tell any of them if he did. But, she found as she looked into midnight blue eyes, she didn’t mind whatever the answer was.
Wow, Yachi thought, glancing between Shimizu and Kanoka, and thinking of her own face, God totally has favorites.

Chapter Text
The moment Natsu jumped off the steps, almost tripped her brother, and ran to Tobio who stood in front of the first cabin, Shoyo knew he would be babysitting for most of this week and a half.
It was the first year Natsu would stay the full time, given last year- the first time she was old enough to sign up- she had a nightmare on the very first night and screamed so loud it woke up the eleventh and twelfth cabins all the way from one. Then, when Shoyo came in to get her, she accidentally hit one of her bunk mates in the face, making that girl start shrieking.
Now, Natsu was giggling with Tobio, letting the boy guide her into the very first cabin and help her settle. His name tag read TOBIO KAGEYAMA, CABIN ONE MONITOR. Was he technically too young, and you had to have at last two years in experience at camp to be a counselor? Yeah.
Did Tobio lie and say “I’ve been going here for three years, I just left after the first two days the first two times.”? Also, yes. And, while that technically didn’t count- he just shrugged and said, “I went here for three years. Just not the full week.”
And they couldn’t argue with that without having their logic be used against them, with how Saeko Tanaka completely ditched the first week when she was here for the second time, only staying for the last half, they granted Tobio the permission to choose which cabin he monitored this year.
Shoyo had the slight feeling, that he only chose cabin one to be close to Natsu. The two had become a lot closer ever since Shoyo and Tobio got together during their first-month-of-school fling. Then, when they broke up, they only got closer and tighter.
So, Natsu would be completely with Tobio this entire week and a half, which left Shoyo alone. Though, he had a feeling she would find a way to bother him.
Safe to say, Shoyo didn’t have high exceptions for this summer.
But, at least this time, he had Komaki with him. The two had met on a field trip in their last year of middle school, and been communicating over long distance since. And now, they could see each other face to-
A body slammed into Shoyo’s, and while- he looked up expecting to see glasses and a brunette boy, he was instead met with hazel eyes and black and golden hair.
Nishinoya Yū. Perhaps the only boy in the world possible of being shorter than him. Behind him was basically the definition of ‘dark and brooding’ in a teenage boy. Dark green hair, and a Shiratorizawa school uniform to match. His name tag, though, Shoyo didn’t need to look at to know who he was, USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI, ARCHERY MONITOR.
“Hey Shoyo! You didn’t tell me you were gonna come this year!” Noya beamed, and the ginger smiled at his friend. They were made to be friends, honestly. They both had a shared humor of tall people, and both a height below the average. Maybe Komaki being here, along with Noya and his massive(don’t.) boyfriend, could make this week a little better.
“Surprise, I did.” Shoyo managed to get out from under Noya, brushing himself off and watching Wakatoshi walk away to the counselors cabin. That cabin was for the counselors who didn’t have a specific numbered cabin to watch over, and instead had one of the activities, or they were apart of the welcome committee, or they were just there to plan the after parties.
(Technically, any of the campers besides eleven and twelve weren’t supposed to go to those- but those parties barely averaged two counselors actually doing their job. And nobody would even remember them being there in the morning as long as they’re gone by 2AM.)
So, as Noya grabbed Shoyo and dragged him away to their two cabins, the orange haired boy caught the glint of glasses in the amphitheater entrance, and how badly he wanted to yank his arm away from Yū and run to his boy- he had to wait. He had to. For, a couple reason.
Couples aren’t allowed to share bunks unless their counselor either A), doesn’t know about them and therefore can’t stop them. Or B), is alright with it because they’re probably at least 50% homosexual. And, they weren’t in the same cabin.
…
Maybe that should’ve been the N1 reason.
Anyways, the best bet he had of seeing Maki would be at the welcome party tonight.
But maybe, just maybe- he should’ve followed the rules about who could go to these parties. Just this once. Maybe then, it wouldn’t have happened.
Chapter 3: first day of camp, i need a drink.
Summary:
one of my favorite chapters so far!!
Chapter Text
When Toru stumbled down off the steps, Kenma behind him with one hand playing their psp and one hand guiding the brunette to his cabin, and Makki and Mattsun were already plotting something to get blackmail on their captain- Iwa already knew he would be spending most of this trip hiding and drinking nights away with his boyfriends.
That was the worst part about this trip. Atsumu and Komori get to share a cabin together, while Hajime is forced to stay the entire week with his annoying three friends. He swears, if he is bunkmates with a single one of them, he will not hesitate to tie a noose around his neck.
The other worst part is that he had to stay for a week and a half in a sweat-smelling cabin with third years: the worst type of high schoolers. Did this contradict the fact Hajime was also a third year? Yes. But there were also some good ones. And it just so happened that those ‘good’ ones, were all the people not coming to camp this year, or they were all counselors.
Daichi Sawamura, for example. Only the hottest man right after Hajime’s boyfriends. Would he be in the third year cabin with Iwa? No! Of course not. He was a counselor, specifically the forest hide and seek monitor.
(Forest hide and seek, as Hajime and Atsumu and Komori would see in the near future, was not a good idea.)
However, today they were just getting settled. So, Hajime walked and set his backpack down on a random bunk in the twelfth cabin, then went back outside in search of his loves.
.
With how damn hot it was, maybe Hajime was better off putting up with Toru’s almost-drunk-not-quite-sober ramblings in cabin twelve. That was something he had never thought before. Sweat trickled down his neck, and he occasionally wondered if he was allowed to take his shirt off. Probably not, but it would be a good try.
Just as Iwa was about to turn back to cabin twelve, he caught a glimpse of golden hair from behind the pillar of a small gazebo that led to where the after parties happened in an opening of the forest. He didn’t think before running over, and being met with the beautiful sight of Atsumu Miya and Komori Motoya.
“Hey-“ Hajime barely got the word out before Atsumu whirled around with a stick held like a knife. When he met his eyes, and registered who it was, his boyfriend softened.
“Sorry. We almost got caught by Sugawara earlier, so now we’re on guard.” Atsumu explained, and Hajime was already hugging him. “Oh- I missed ya too, idiot. But we saw each other two weeks ago, what’s the hug for?” The smile was clear in his voice, and Komori made an annoyed noise before latching onto the both of them alongside Atsu.
Komori grumbled, “Two weeks is too long. I should be allowed to see you guys everyday.” Atsumu nodded, looking annoyed. Hajime rolled his eyes at his dramatic boyfriends, but Komori’s next rant was cut short by his eyes catching something behind Iwa. He froze, mouth slightly agape.
“Mori?” Atsu mumbled, looking where his boyfriend’s eyes were. “Uh-“ His eyes widened, and Iwa raised an eyebrow. He turned, looking to the entrance to the forest and seeing…
Nothing.
Komori screamed, and it was a sound that would haunt Hajime forever.
summer of 2012. camp.
chapter three.five first day of camp. how do i get rid of the voices?
The scream that Satori heard as they got out of their mom’s car was what started it. Their mom narrowed her eyes, “Dear, what was that?”
“Oh, probably just some younger kids getting pranked by the counselors! Silly string, is all.” Satori waved the concern off, but they knew it wasn’t just that. The moment their mom nodded, they grabbed their backpack, watched her pull out of the makeshift parking space (which was just a mix of the sidewalk and road), and ran to the gazebo.
That scream, from Komori Motoya as they would soon learn, was what started the whispers. At first, it was too quiet to notice. But as they ran, they heard it more clearly.
Satori,
Your fault,
You did this,
You’re why he’s gone,
Satori,
Satori.
As a new counselor, SATORI TENDOU, ARTS AND CRAFTS MONITOR, and a camper for four years in a row- Satori has become very known with the kissing spots for the new kids that they think the counselors don’t know about. Of course they know! They were the ones who discovered them!
The ‘secret’ pillar was actually found out by Satori and Sugawara, and it became known as the ‘make out pillar’. It was the widest one in the bunch of cream, tall ones that lined the gazebo, and it also had a tree hanging over it for shade. That pillar was where Satori had their first 🥥. Oh, sorry😨. Was that TMI?
Why the new campers thought Satori wouldn’t regularly check that pillar to see if themself and Sugawara could have a safe- I mean! If any of the campers were doing anything nasty, they didn’t know. They would not let some poor, innocent first year have their first 🥥 be against a pillar with a week-long summer fling. Absolutely not.
But, the very first time Satori and Suga were at that pillar, he saw something. Behind you, Suga said later when Satori asked, I saw like, like you. But, you were a monster. Like a werewolf. It did hurt a little to be called a monster by the person who promised to never, but they knew they couldn’t hold it against their lover. Satori didn’t ask what it looked like again.
While, they expected to see some first years trying to sneak a kiss. What they weren’t expecting was to see three boys, all at least second years, all pressed against each other, and all looking freaked out. The brunette one looked completely horrified, his eyes still glued to something behind Satori. Meanwhile, the blond boy was practically shaking, and the darker brunette boy looked like he was trying to see something that wasn’t there.
Satori actually recognized the blond one. Atsumu Miya, one of the campers who spent most of last year at Satori’s arts and crafts station. The other two, they barely knew. But it seemed Miya was very close with them, given how he didn’t even blink when the brunette shrieked again at the sight of them and clung onto him.
“Hajime! Protect me!” He shouted, wrapping his arms and legs around Miya.
The ‘Hajime’, in question, raised an eyebrow at Satori. “You don’t look like a demon.”
“That’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me, y’know?” They put a hand over their heart, and Hajime raised an eyebrow at them, “But, I’m still a counselor. And you three…” Satori flicked the unknown-brunette’s forehead, “can’t be smoochin’ back here like it’s 1788 and being gay is a crime. Or smoochin’ at all. I think they actually have that as a rule on the website, give me a sec..”
They grab their phone from their pocket, typing in the url for the camp website into Google, and clicking on the Rules and Regulations tab.
There, in bright, bold lettering, was NO COUPLES IN THE SAME BUNK. Not exactly what they said, but same meaning all in all. They held up the phone to the three, and Miya rolled his eyes. It seemed he was holding the brunette from running off, with how the boys legs were shaking and Miya’s arms were tight around him.
“What the hell happened to him?”
Hajime huffed, glancing back at, what Satori assumed to be, his lover. “Komori Motoya. He saw something in the woods, got scared. That’s it.”
They thought about that for a moment, glancing behind themself. Did he just see something in the woods? Probably not. It was probably something more than that- but that was none of their business. However, when they looked back to give the three a warning and a write-up, they were already gone.
They sighed, but hoped they could find them later to talk about the sneaking off. (And maybe, just maybe, tell them better spots to hide and have a kiss. Where they wouldn’t be found by the arts and crafts counselor.)
