Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“Wow! You're so amazing, thank you for protecting our city!” A little girl beams up at you and then takes a deep bow.

“Hehe, it’s no problem kid,” You chuckle uncomfortably at the kid. “We’re just here to keep the cities clean for you.” You say gesturing to your patrol partner/boyfriend, Shoto. You too were patrolling the area when this little girl ran up to you bubbling with excitement.

She then began talking your ear off about last year's big war and both of your guy’s performances, it got really uncomfortable for both you and Shoto. Shoto was still grieving his brother, and you were still beating yourself for not being a better asset to the war.

One surprise battle with Dabi took you completely out of the fight. Your group was filing citizens onto buses when Dabi began to wreak havoc and in the process he burned your legs until they were numb. Recovery Girl did heal you but you missed out on the entire war. All you could do was watch helplessly as you watched your friends being defeated one by one.

It was painful to see, so painful that you vowed to never let it happen again. After the war you built yourself up. Your quirk was Hyperdrive, it allows you to run at supersonic speeds depending on how excited you were. But if you were bored or in neutral emotion your body would relax and cause you to fall asleep pretty quickly.

So over the summer you built up yourself in places you don’t usually work out like your arms. You even managed to improve so much you scored 3rd place in the sports festival this year, but fell just below Bakugo after you tripped and he blew you out of the arena.

The girl fidgeted with her hands before speaking up again, “C-can I take a picture with you?” She asks nervously.

“Sur-!” “No.”

Shoto interrupts you before you can finish. Looking back at him to see an annoyed expression replacing his usual stoic expression.

The mother must have picked up on it as she gestured for her daughter to come to her. “Not today sweetie the heroes are on patrol and we don't want to bother them too much.”

Your partner took the opportunity and grabbed your hand trying to pull you away from the girl and her mother. “My apologies, maybe you can get one if you see us next time we patrol.” You quickly call out to them as Shoto pulled you forward.

After rounding a corner Shoto didn’t let go of your arm and continued leading you through the streets. “Sorry babe, that conversation took a little too long.”

“Mm.” His gaze remained forward as he continued to march through the city with you in toe.

“Are you alright there Sho?”

“Yup.”

“Well I’d agree if you weren’t dragging down the sidewalk like a bull.” As if he just realized what he was doing he let out a small ‘oh’ and let go of your arm sheepishly. You lifted your arm to his face and brushed his hair behind his ear. “Are you alright?”

He looked up at you and gently held your hand into his, “I’m- sorry I’m fine, It’s just the stuff the girl was saying about The Fight was…” He barely ever talked about his fight with his brother but when he did he referred to it as ‘The Fight’. “I just don’t like people talking about it like that.“

“I hear you,” The fight was traumatic and the little girl questioning how it took an entire family to take Dabi down didn’t seem to land right with the boy. “Still, she’s a 6 year old, she has no idea what a factor is, let alone how bad saying…” You pause trying to find the right words. “...That is, I wouldn’t take her words to heart.“

“I know but still, why would she even say that?” He questioned while knitting his eyebrows.

‘Cute.’

“Kids have little to no filter, they say whatever pops into their mind whether it’s inappropriate or not.” You say thinking back on times where kids have judged your stylistic choices.

“Well when I was a kid I didn’t say stuff like that to strangers.”

You chuckled at the notion of your boyfriend being like one of those kids. “Hehe, well for one you didn’t get to talk to that many other kids when you were young and second you do that now.”

Shoto narrows his eyes at you, “I do-,”

Suddenly a piercing scream rang out through the small crowd as a woman shouted for help. “AAAHHH, HELP KIDNAPPER, KIDNAPPER!”

Your head spun around expecting a fight only to see a girl with an in-humanly stretched out arm dangling an irritated man in a black lab coat over her head. He was spewing cuss words at her as he struggled against her long arm. You and Shoto immediately relaxed before turning to each other and sighing. The woman was still yelling at the top of her lungs even after you pushed through the crowd over to her. Once you were in her line of sight she began aggressively waving you down.

“HELP, HE’S A KIDNAPP-!”

“Yes ma'am we are aware, can you please place him down for us.” You sigh as the woman carefully sets down the very angry man.

He struggles in her grasp as he lets out a spew of curses. “You bitch! Let go of me damnit!”

Her arm was spun around his torso and arms so he couldn’t move. “Ma’am you can let go now, we got it from here.”

Shoto moved in on the man as her arm loosened and the man kept talking. “I wasn’t even gonna kidnap you, you bastard!”

“Oh yeah, then what were you gonna do?” She spat back. Before you could advised her to not antagonize the man he spoke back.

“This.” A vile grin spread across the man’s face as his arm yanked something on his belt and threw it at the girl. You activated your quirk and you ran to cover the girl with your body. Shoto yelled out for you as the object hit your pants. Glancing down you saw the object that had hit your pants wasn't an object, it was a dark gooey slime. You grimaced at it as the slime began to bubble and grow. Shoto slammed the man’s face into the ground and locked his arm behind his back.

“What was that!?” Shoto growled at the man who only laughed.

He chuckled as you panicked and shook your leg using your speed quirk. “Hehe, you are the new test subject for the soon to be greatest innovation of mankind… if you survive.” His grin grew wider as the black substance now covered your entire thigh and was now spreading to the other leg.

The sludge felt hot, burning hot. You seethed through your teeth as the pain began to spread. The panic quickly set in your stomach as you fell to your knees.

“What the hell did you do?!” You looked back up at Shoto who was staring daggers into the criminal he was pressing into the ground.

“Shit, Shoto!” His grey and blue eyes centered on you as you called his name. “Get him in cuffs and make sure he doesn't attack anybody else. After that, call the Kami Woods to get down here!” The sludge had now spread to your chest as the burn grew hotter. Your lungs felt as if they were being squished to death. Which they probably were.

‘Am I gonna die here?’ The thought crosses your mind as you think back on all the things you wanted to do. All the things you were gonna do. ‘No. No! This isn’t right! Things can’t end like this, I’ve barely even gotten started in my life!’

But there was nothing you could do. All you could do was watch as the goo began to cover you and made its way up to your face and to your eyes. The last thing you saw before your eyes closed was the frightening grin of the criminal who did this to you.

Chapter Text

You let out gasp of air as the black tar slowly melted off your body. The slimy substance shrunk back to the spot where it first landed and disappeared completely. You coughed out black chunks that landed on the ground with a splat. It took you a moment to catch your breath before glancing up at your surroundings.

The shops that were once bright and full of life have disappeared. They’ve now been replaced by broken down shops — the windows of most places have been busted into, the road is now uneven with large cracks breaking up the ground. ‘What the hell happened?’

You press the middle button of your radio visor/headset, “Shoto are you there? Over… Sho? What’s going on, why is everything destroyed? Over.” In response you get nothing but static from the other line.

‘The communications tower must be broken or something…’ You think to yourself.

An uneasiness settles in your stomach as you lift yourself off the ground. Searching around for anyone in need of assistance you find nothing but rubble and trash. “Hello! Is anyone here?” You call out to a defining silence, the once busy street had turned so eerily quiet you would’ve thought you still had the slime in your ears.

Stepping through a broken window — of what was a sweets bakery — you find the place trashed with the windows blowing in and the shelves empty.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” You wait a beat but still get no response back. “I just wanna know what happened, I’m not here to fight or anything…“ Nothing.

You sigh and begin to make your way out when you hear the cracking of glass and a tiny gasp. Whipping your head around you catch a glimpse of a head ducking behind a counter.

“Hello, is someone behind the counter…?” You hear shifting and a high pitched gasp of pain. ‘That sounded like a little girl’ You kneel down and soften your voice. “I’m a hero-in-training, here’s my license,” You say as you take out your hero license card and slide it the girls reach. A small hand appeared from the side and grabs the card.

“I just woke up on the side of the street after I got knocked out from a villain attack, my partner has disappeared somewhere and I have-,”

“You're a hero?” The girl peaks her head out from the side of the counter. Her dark brown hair is pulled into a messy low ponytail. Her big blue eyes stare intently at you. “...and you're here to help?”

“Of course, I will never ignore anyone in need of help!” You state enthusiastically, she has fully come out from behind the counter and is cautiously walking towards you. Now that you can get a good look you notice that she’s the same girl that approached you and Todoroki during your patrol. But this time she is in less neater clothes — all her clothes are torn with dirt covering most of her body. But what concerns you the most is injuries littering her arm — a bunch of scraps and cut were on her right while her left hand had huge cut down the palm.

“D-do you not recognise me?” Her voice quivers and gives you a hopeful smile.

“I do! Are you the girl that asked for a picture?”

Her face fell at your response, “No, you don't remember…”

You tilt your head in confusion, “Wha-?”

“I was told by someone,” She interrupts you, “That I shouldn’t trust every person who comes by and says they're a hero. But, I trust you.”

“Wise words from someone who I assume is a wise person,” The girl shifts uncomfortably and glances around the room. “Hey sweetheart? Can I patch up those injuries for you and if you don’t mind, can I ask you a few questions about what's happened here?”

“Um, sure,”

The girl, Kiyoko, answered every question you asked her but nothing seemed to make sense or line up with your timeline. But some things you did figure out is it’s been maybe one or two days since you’ve been in that goo, and that most heroes have either become villains or left the country, including the Hero’s Safety Commission.

You carefully tied the end of Kiyoko’s wound dressing as she continued talking. “I think the commission left after the villains killed the president.”

A sudden coldness hits your core. “H-hawks is dead?”

“Hawks? You mean the past #2 hero?” She asks genuinely confused. “What does he have to do wit-?”

BOOM!

You put your guard up as you hear a sudden explosion outside, and pull Kiyoko close to you. She lets out a small shriek and her hands jump to grip your shirt. Attempting to soothe her, you rub her back and pull the shaking girl behind the register.

She’s quietly sobbing into your shirt, scared out of her mind. “Shhh shhh, hey it’s okay, I got you.”

Kiyoko pulled her head back and shook her head ‘no’, “N-no no, I-it’s hi-, i-it’s them, it’s them-m…” She kept stuttering out as her arm tried to pull you up into the back of the store.

You take her hands and lock eyes with her. “Kiyoko. Who is ‘them’?”

Her eyes shift around in a hurry as she scans behind you until they stop. Her pupils dilate as she falls to the floor and presses herself up against a cabinet. You turn your head and — there they were, your friends.

“Hey, Kiyoko it’s okay I know those people,” You try to reassure her, “You’ll be alright, those are my friends, they’ll be able to help you.” However she didn’t get any calmer.

“N-no. Not g-good.” In an instant she stood up and sprinted through the curtain and into the back of the shop.

“Wait!” You hissed out, you sighed and turned your head to see if your classmates were still there. Standing in the middle of the street were five of your friends — Jiro, Sero, Mina, Kirishima and Katsuki. They were all wearing their hero costumes but you took notice on how badly beaten up they looked. Most of their costumes were covered in dirt or a red color — which you could only pray wasn’t blood. Their expressions seemed to match their outfits as it looked like they were out for blood. Everyone looked like they were starving for a fight.

You stood up and leaned on the table, “What happened to you losers!” You jokingly call out to them. Then, all the sudden they pause, none moved even for a second. The air seemed to get thicker once you spoke and they slowly started turning their head to look at you. As they made eye contact with you, their faces seemed to darken, Katsuki’s more than the others.

“Woah, why are you guys looking at me like that? Did I do something?” You say taken aback by their sudden hostility. Something in your stomach churns as you try to think of what you might have done. You chuckled nervously as Katsuki began slowly approaching you. “H-hey Kats… whatcha’ doing?”  Your legs start moving on their own as you back into the shop.

All of a sudden he stops, “You have no right to wear their face…” Katsuki seethed through his teeth as he spoke. “...and mock us with their voice.”

You both let the room get quiet. Too quiet.

Then he raised his arm and sent off an explosion straight to your head.

Chapter Text

All of a sudden he stops, “You have no right to wear their face…” Katsuki seethed through his teeth as he spoke. “...and mock us with their voice.”

You both let the room get quiet. Too quiet.

Then he raised his arm and sent off an explosion straight to your head.

You jerk back in shock and hit the display case behind you, “Kats, what are you-!”

BOOM!

Your quirk speed heightens as your heart beat races. Another shot was aimed at your way and you used your quirk to zoom out the shop.

You whipped your head around to see your other classmates standing there just watching?! You yell out to them, “Guys, what’s going on-?!”

Before you could finish a punch landed on your side and you were sent tumbling down the street. You coughed and held your stomach, the taste of blood filled your mouth as you hunched over in pain.

“Hey, asshole!” Katsuki's gruff voice called out to you, “You’re not fighting them, you're fighting me.” He says as he points to himself. A feeling of dread fills you, as you remember how hard the blonde goes in training. The explosive man begins to walk closer to you and you rapidly push yourself up.

“So don’t expect them to be fooled into helping you because you look like that.” He scorns you as he launches himself forward.

‘Is there something wrong with my outfit?’ You question to your self as his hand reaches out for you. Thinking quickly you used your quirk to quickly grab his arms and you twisted them behind his back. Using your foot you kick in the inside of his shins forcing him to kneel. Landing on the ground he let out a low growl. “Kats what are you even saying-,”

Your heard a short crackle and shout before an explosion was set off towards you again; this time it caught you. You seethed through your teeth as you shook off the pain in your hand. Frustration was building up in you as you couldn’t ask single question before being blown up.

“GOD DAMN IT BAKUGOU!” You charge at him with your fist up. “STOP INTERRUPTING ME!” You shout at the boy as your fist comes down on him. In an attempt to block the blow he shielded himself with his arms. However, the combined force of the strike and the added power of your quirk made Bakugo wobble back with a groan.

“Fuck you!” He spat back at you before he began to loop his fingers into your hair and simultaneously using his other hand to grab your left hand. Bakugo used his weight to spin you around in a 360 turn before smashing your head into the ground. His hands were still locked on your scalp with your arm and pinned them to the ground. The blonde’s knee came down on your back and you cried out in pain as his face lowered to your level as you struggle against his grip.

“I don’t ever want to hear our friend’s voice come out of you again.” You reeled back at the disdain in his voice, “You're an utter disgrace to the world, if you think it’s funny to masquerade as (Y/n).”

‘Huh?’ Confused, you pause your struggling, ‘Does he not think your, you?!’

“Dude! I am me! I am (Y/n)! Can we, please, just have a civil conversation?!” You plead with the boy, but your cries fall to deaf ears as he starts pressing you harder into the ground. You peek over your shoulder to get a look at Bakugo and he looks... in pain? His eyes are glossed over and he’s narrowing his eyes as if he’s trying to hide the tears.

You needed some way to convince him you were you, and get out of his hold. Your free hand started to blindly feel around for some kind of weapon, “Remember after the sports festival this year you - AGH!” He presses his knee into your back harder, “ -you tripped me in the semi-finals and afterwards you wouldn’t stop doing it in training. OW! And at some point everyone caught on and now I have to take ‘Feet Coordination Training’ a-after classSS-! OW OW OW!”

All you got in response was a sharp knee to the back and a, “Never happened.”

‘Never happened?’ Your hand landed on something big and heavy. You quickly pick it up and swing at Bakugo’s head. He lets out a pained yelp and his hands loosened its grip allowing you to reel your head back into his nose. His hands come up to his nose and he stumbles back; you swiftly remove yourself from under him.

“FUCK! YOU BITCH!” He wipes the blood from his nose as he looks at you with nothing but pure hatred. His body shakes as he stands up from his place. God you hated seeing him like this, the only time you’ve seen him like this was in the war.

“Sorry Bakugou…” You apologize as Bakugo stomps forward and pulls up his left leg to land a kick. You speed blitz backward as his foot barley grazes you. You gasp as he quickly launches bac kat you with his other foot. “Bakugo, remember during the training camp you decided to hide a cave spider in Monoma’s bag.” He started sending an unending amount of kicks while you talked and dodged, “But Sero ended up moving the bag and it clung to him an- Oof! And in the middle of the night his scream woke everyone up.”

“H-how the hell… HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW THAT?!” His eyes light up a little before quickly falling back to a hard stare. It’s working.

“Because I am (Y/n)!” You plead with him emphasizing the ‘I’.

“NO!” In one swift motion he blasts himself towards you and lands an explosive punch to your gut. The force sends you flying back into a wall accompanied by a sickening crack. Your body falls to the ground as you hold your stomach. Fuck. This hurts. You try to draw a breath but you just end up in a coughing fit.

“Any last words Mimic-Scum?” A shadow cast over you as Bakugo's boots came into your line of sight. Everything hurts to move, you're too beaten up to physically attack him. Your gaze is stuck to the ground as your eyes glance down at Bakugo’s boots and you start to notice the dried blood covering the orange sole. What exactly happened while I was in that goo?

After steadying your breath enough to speak you give him your last memory, “A-after Eri was introduced to the class she came to you a lot to watch tv shows. You had more streaming platforms on your ipad and you didn’t mind hanging out with her as long as she was quiet.” You hear Bakugo stiffen and let out a small growl. “One night I walked in on you two and Eri had fallen asleep on your lap.” You let out a tearful chuckle. “We began to talk and at one point you asked ‘Would they have felt this if they were here?’ I asked who you were talking about and you told me about your older sibling.” You paused for a moment, only to gauge his reaction. He was oddly silent and you took the opportunity to continue.

“They got sick when they were 2 and a half years old, he passed away that same year. A year later you were born and you’ve always wondered if you were just a replacement. You t-told-,” A lump formed in your throat as you choked on your words. “Y-you told me how much their death weighed on you and wondered if you were even supposed to be here if not for them.”

“And, I admire you so much for how strong you are,” Mustering up the strength, you lifted your head up to make eye contact with Katsuki whose gauntlet was pointed at your head. His eyes were widened as tears threatened to fall from his eyes. His free hand was shaking as it was loosely looped in the safe pin. “Even if your sibling’s death felt like a burden to you, I’ve never seen you falter or break once! I strive to be as strong as you everyday. So please…” Your voice croaked as you gave him a shaky smile, “...if you're gonna kill me, stay strong.”

You waited a beat before closing your eyes waiting for the burn to hit, but it never came.
A loud thud was heard in front of you, “(Y-y/n)?” Reopening your eyes to see Bakugo who's kneeling at your eye level. His gauntlets have been removed and were discarded behind him. You flinched as his hand came up to your cheek and whipped blood off your cheek. “It’s you.”

He dove into you for a hug and pulled you limp-ish body close,“W-woah! Kats, what is happening right now?” You chuckle nervously at the sudden affection. You let him hold onto you but every second that passed the hug grow tighter. “Dude, I can’t breathe, please get up!”

Air rushes into your lungs and you start coughing, “O-oh, sorry.” He apologizes as he pushes himself up. “We need to get back, i’ll inform the others of the situation, and-,”

“Wait! Katsuki, aren’t you gonna explain to me why you just tried to actually kill me?! And why everything looks fucked up?!”

The blonde looks back at you and shakes his head, “Not right now, it’s too dangerous for you to be out here.” His lips curve slightly upwards before they settle back to the neutral face. “I’m gonna take you back home. I’ll be right back, stay here.”

"Not like I can go anywhere." You say under your breath as you glance down at your leg. You groaned as you tried to shift your sitting position, “Ughh…” Your leg was busted up real good, you could already feel the it swelling just under your knee.

Katsuki had waved over your friends, no classmates... You didn’t know if they were still considered your friends after they stood by and watched you get beaten half to death. But they probably had a good reason... right?

Katsuki was only twelve feet away and talking in hush tones with the group, angry glares are sent Katsuki’s and your way. But as the whispering went on they slowly faded into confusion or shock. Throughout the conversation you tried to make out what they’re saying but you could only catch small increments.

“...doubt about...”

“They...didn’t they?” “Imp....” “...gone...” “...up like that...”

“I... things... -uld know.”

“...back from the...”

“Two... ago I was out… small base… two scientists… mistaken for… this just keeps happening… heroes.”

“...point?”

“My point is… -takes’ is connected… back to… somehow.”

“And… they’re...”

“... Obviously… ”

“For now… wait… home to talk about…”

You see the five of them nod before they shift their eyes to you. Jumping at the sudden attention on you your eyes dart to find something else to look at. Your cheeks heat up at the fact they just caught you eavesdropping.

Pattering of foot steps is heard behind as you feel a warm body wraps around in tight hug.
"AAAHHHHAHAAA (Y/N) IS THIS REALLY YOU?" The high pitched voice of Mina cries in your shoulder. You groan as the girl puts her body weight on you, your still sore from the fight and any little movement hurts like hell.

"Wait! Mina don't rush them so suddenly!" Kirishima's voice calls out to the pink haired girl. His voice seems to have gotten deeper and alot more raspy. "They're injured!"

"Huh?" Mina's head snaps up for it's spot and she glances down at your leg. Her face morphs from shock to disgust to angry. She whips around to face Kats who is looking around nervously. "Bakugo what the hell did you do to them!?"

"I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THEM! GIVE ME A BREAK!"

Jiro approaches you and kneels down, her eyes gloss over your leg. "Your leg needs medical attention, we should get back home and get them checked out."

"Wait, wait, wait, guys you need to explain to me what's happening-!" You plead with them for answers but all you get in response is a small smile from Kirishima and Mina, and the others avoid eye contact with you entirely.

Nothing makes any sense and your friends(?) are not giving you anything to work with. When they give you the answers you so desperately need they better be good.

Notes:

[A/n]: Hey guysss :))) So how was the fight scene :)))))) This is technically my second time writing a fight scene and I definitely improved from the last time but it's still lowkey ass.

Anyways, constructive criticism is always appreciated AND

Chapter Text

“Global Gang assembled against the powers of evil~!” The annoying hero’s show theme song played on the TV again as Eri let it continue to another episode. Bakugo huffed as he threw pre-measured ingredients into the broth and he begrudgingly held his tongue. He was currently babysitting after Eri had requested to stay with him that night. The rest of the idiot extras were at some party hosted by that Shiketsu girl he met at the license course. Bakugo guessed it was good Eri wanted to stay with him because he didn’t plan to attend anyway.

After ladling the soup into a bowl and garnishing it with green onions he called out for her to come grab it. “Eri! Dinner’s ready, come get it.”

All he got back in response was the TV noise, “Eri! Eri?” The blonde walked over to see the little girl fast asleep, covered in blankets and curled into a ball. Bakugo let out a soft sigh and grabbed the warm soups and brought them over to the couch.

He sat himself right next to Eri’s head and gently shook her awake. “Eri? Kid?” She grumbled in response and rolled over. “Kid, I just need you to eat three spoonfuls then you can go back to sleep.”

Eri slowly pushed herself up to a sitting position, her arms kept the blanket wrapped around herself. She yawned before leaning her head on the blonde’s shoulder and falling back to sleep.

“Eri! Don’t just fall back asleep!” He used his arm to shake her awake. He sighed before taking the soup into his lap and scooping a spoonful. “Here’s the first bite.” She slowly opened her mouth and bakugo took the chance to feed her the broth. He continued this until he reached the bottom of the bowl.

“Good job Eri,” He let out a tired sigh before ruffling her hair. “You can go back to sleep.” She began to melt into his touch and fell back asleep in a snap. Were sisters always like this?

…Sister? Did I just refer to Eri as a sister?

Bakugo was suddenly pulled from his thoughts when he heard a whisper behind him. “Awwwwww…” He slowly turned his head to see you leaning on the door frame with your hand covering your mouth.

He goes stiff and gives you a hard stare, “How much did you see?”

“The whole thing.” You giggle.

He felt his face goes beet red and he started to carefully remove Eri from his shoulder. “I’m never doing this shit again.” He starts to muttering under his breath.

You speed walk over to Bakugo trying to shove him back down. “WAIT NO IT’S ADORABLE,” You whisper yell at him, “DON’T BE GRUMPY! DON’T WORRY THIS WONT RUIN YOUR TOUGH GUY ACT!”

“SHUT IT NARCOLEPSY!” He quietly yells back, and he sits back down letting Eri’s head fall back on him. She rubs her head into his shoulder blade and her arms wraps around his bicep. He sighs in defeat and faces back to you. Most people are scared to even face him after he's yelled at them but here you are with a smug expression on your face that he wishes he could blast off your face. But he won’t. “Why are you back so early anyways?”

You shrug, “Eh, got bored, Cammie thought it would be a great idea to have two rival high schools party together,” You hang your head low and you let out a tired groan. “By the time I had decided to kick it early I had stopped seven fights from breaking out. I got tired of babysitting and came back here, the rest of the class is either at a ramen restaurant or still at the party.”

“Damn, I should have been there, then I would’ve shown those extra what the best looks like.” Those damn Shiketsu students always think they’re better than us even though they’re the second rate hero school.

“Ugghhh noo, I would’ve died if I had to wrangle you AND Todoroki from a fight.” You grumbled and fell on the arm chair next to him. You two fell silent and the sound of the ‘Global Gang’ seemed to get louder and filled the room. Bakugo furrowed his eyebrows and he quickly flipped off the TV. “You looked real deep in thought before I came in, can I ask what about?”

He pauses for a moment before answering, “Family.”

You perk up in surprise at the response. He expected this reaction cause he had never really brought up his family to anyone in the class. “Family? Eri remind you of a little sibling we don’t know about?” You chuckle.

“No, older.”

You freeze up before letting out a gasp “Wait what?!” You stress in a hushed tone being mindful not to wake up Eri, “You have an older sibling you didn’t tell us about!? Oh my god, can I meet them?!” You gush excitedly.

“N-no! And calm down will you, they’re dead.”

“Oh,” Your smile fades and it falls into a remorseful expression. “I’m so sorry man, I didn’t mean-,”

“No it’s alright, I brought it up.” Katsuki sighs and continues. “I was born a year after he died so I didn’t care, I didn’t know he existed until I was 8. I found out from an aunt who accidentally brought it up.”

The blonde fell silent as he shifted his weight in his seat. He still remembers that drunkard’s words. ‘He’s practically a duplicate of the last one’. That's all he was, was a duplicate meant to replace what his parents had lost.

“I’m just a replacement for the real thing. I wouldn’t be here if my brother wasn’t dead.” He glanced down at Eri who was still asleep on his shoulder and the knot in his stomach formed. “Would they have felt this if they were still here?” Tears filled his eyeline and threatened to spill as he turned his head away from you.

Out of the corner of his eye he could see you staring intently at him. Your expression wasn’t one of pity or curiosity, it was neutral, you were just listening to him. Katsuki had never been this open with a person before and it made a knot in his stomach turn again. He didn’t know if it was loosening or tightening.

“Are you proud of who you are?” You suddenly speak up.

“Huh?”

You repeated your question, “Are you proud of who you are?”

“Hell yeah,” He stated with the confidence of a kicked rabbit.

“Then you’re wrong. You’re wrong about you being a replacement. Anyone who says you're a "copy" is also wrong.” Your eyebrows furrowed at him, “The way you laugh, the way you think, and the way you carry yourself is different than anyone I’ve ever seen. None can duplicate the way you conduct yourself. I don’t care what anybody says, you are Katsuki Bakugo, Great Murder Explosion Dynamite-,”

“Great Explosion Murder God, Dynamite.”

“-Whatever.” You roll your eyes, “You're our one and only Bakugo and there’s nothing like you on this earth or outside of it.”

“Wow.” He’s a bit stunned, he never expected that, from you. Then again he expected you to fall asleep half way through him talking.

“Sorry, was that too much?” Your shoulders square suddenly aware of how personal you just got.

“No no, you're fine.” His eyes fall back down on the sleeping Eri still hugging onto his shoulder. “It’s nice to finally talk to someone about it.”

“Have you told anyone else about it?”

“No.”

“Nobody? Does Midoriya or Kirishima know?”

He sneers at the idea of Deku knowing, “No.”

“So am I special or did I just catch you at a really emotional time?” You continue questioning him while grinning ear to ear.

He pauses before shaking his head, “No you're different.”

“HUH!? This is uncharted territory in our friendship!” All this excitement is making your quirk go crazy and you stand up in the blink of an eye. “Bakugo we-!”

“You can call me Katsuki,” He turns his head to the side to avoid eye contact. “You know too much about me to call me by my last name.“

”YES-! Wait.” You stop your excitement and your face turns serious. “Can I give you a fun nickname like the one Midoriya and Denki have for you? Kachan was it?”

“They do that without permission,” He gags and his eyes narrow, “And I gave you the chance to call me by my name, don’t push your luck.”

You hum before tapping your chin pretending to think. “I’m thinking… Katsu! You like that curry stuff don’t ya’?”

“No.” He said in a more stern voice.

“Hmm, alright then how about Kats!”

“No to all nicknames.”

“Well if you're not gonna give helpful input then I guess I’ll go with Kats!”

“NO!”

“Kats it is!”

⌁₊˚⊹  ⊹˚₊⌁

“Are you guys really not gonna tell me anything?” You groan as Kirishima carefully places you over his shoulder, “Bakugo come ooooon!”

“Bakugo?” His ears perk up at the sound of his last name. “What happened to Kats?” He asks genuinely hurt you would go back to calling him by his last name. Even if the nickname bothered him in the past, he’s gone so long without hearing your voice that the nickname is comforting.

“I only call people by their nicknames when they don’t piss me off.” You point your finger accusingly at him. “And you SLAMED ME INTO A WALL!”

Mina chuckles behind him. “You did break their leg and probably their hip too.”

“I ALREADY APOLOGIZED, AND WE’RE GETTING THEM TO A DOCTOR, DAMN!” He seethes through his teeth as he starts walking. “LETS GO, WE’RE ALREADY LOSING DAYLIGHT.” The rest of the group sighs and starts trotting along behind him.

The sun emanates a calming yellow glow as it falls closer to the horizon. From how low the sun is they probably won’t make it back to base before dark at this pace. ‘Ugh, Midoriya’s probably radioing other bases to look out for us.’ He calls out for Sero without looking back, “You go ahead and let the others know why we’re late.”

“Yes sir!” He says with a lazy two-finger salute and uses his quirk to swing away.

“Aw, where’s he going?” You pout.

“Don’t worry about it,” Bakugo turns back to look at you, “But you should start trying to fall asleep.”

“Huh? Why?” You ask knitting your eyebrows together. “I still have questions for you guys.”

“Which will be answered soon.” Jiro responds trying to avoid your questions. “Do you have those timeout pills?“

Bakugo remembers those, you had trouble falling asleep so you’d take those for your body to calm down. Mr. Aizawa insisted you have them on you at all times in case medical personnel needed you to be asleep for something. “Yeah but-,”

“Then you should take those, it will be easier to tell what has happened if the whole class is together.” Jiro said, trying to reassure you.

“I… But-," You try to think of an excuse to no avail, “Fine.”

Mina fetches the pills from your back pocket and places it in your hands, “BUT! You need to tell me exactly what is going on as soon as I wake up.”

“Promise.” Jiro crosses her heart; this might have been a sweet gesture if Bakugo didn’t see Jiro cross her finger behind her back. It was probably for the best since they didn’t know where you came from and they didn’t know how much the truth would hurt.

You pop the pill and within seven minutes you were out cold. The walk back to the base is quiet, none really knew what to say. But Bakugo didn’t mind, it gave him time to think, to calculate his next steps.

When they arrived at U.A. they were rushed by people, most people crowded around you including Ida who picked you right off Kirishima’s shoulders and parted the crowd to run you to the medical bay. He was followed by Asui, Momo, and a couple other extras, who he didn't take the time to remember the names of.

“What the hell happened out there?” Bakugo stumbled back a step as Izuku pushed his shoulder. “I was about to send a team out to look for you when Sero came back to tell me “you found (Y/n)” with some crazy theory to back it up.”

“Listen, I know it sounds far-fetched but I swear to you it’s them.” He just needs to prove it’s you, the others will be convinced far easier than him. But to do that he needs support from daddy issues. “I need to talk to Half-N-Half, where is he?”

Izuku sighs before pointing to the main building behind him. “Todoroki has been brooding in the principals office since he heard the news, but he’s probably gone down to the infirmary to see them himself.”

As soon as Deku finished he took off into the school building in search of the infirmary. As he ran into the building he heard Deku mumbling compliments to himself. “Thanks Izuku, you're such a big help Deku…”

Ignoring the obvious sarcasm in his tone Bakugo raced to infirmary where he found half of the volunteers huddled around the entrance. “OUT OF THE WAY EXTRAS.” They jumped back and offering quick apologies before running away.

He shoved open the door to find a partially empty nurses room with you placed on a bed in the very back. Todoroki was hovering over you, Bakugo panicked as he saw Shoto had pulled down your sleeve over your shoulder.

“Aye! What the hell do you think you're doing pervert?!” Todoroki jumped back and spared a quick glance at Bakugo.

“I wasn’t doing anything,” He spat back, not moving his eyes away from you, “I was just checking for something.”

Bakugo looked down to where Icy-Hot’s eyes landed and on your shoulder was a scar running down your clavicle and ended where your scapula is.

“They had surgery when they were a little kid on all their main joints, all of the scars are still there.” The dual hair boy paused, “It’s them."

"It’s our (Y/n).”

Chapter 5: Sinking Down

Chapter Text

“It’s them… It’s our (Y/n).”

You can hear their voices bounce off the brightly colored U.A. walls, repeating in an echo that never ends. You feel hands wrapped around your body, but when you look down you see nothing holding onto you. But these ghost hands are moving one of your limbs so you're walking. Your body feels light, light enough to where you if you relaxed your body the ghost hands would keep you upright and walking.

“They’ll understand…”

The soft voices call out to you from the hallway. The closer and closer you got to the voice the more you can feel a hand appear on your face and caressing your cheek. The ghost hand felt warm, almost comforting.

Suddenly, distant screams rang out in front of you and the hallway got dark, you shouldn’t go there.

You dig your heels into the ground but your movement doesn’t stop. An urge takes over you to walk away, but you don’t. The hands keep you moving towards the voice. Your body flies into panic mode as you try to look around for help. But you are stopped by a strong hand on the back of your head keeping your head looking forward. The warm inviting feeling the hands offered is now gone and replaced with a burning hot pain on your cheek. You try to scream in pain but the sound gets caught in your throat.

But the person’s screaming doesn’t stop, it only gets louder as you are forced closer to the sound. You pull and pull against the hands for some form of control but they keep you still. The screaming only gets louder and louder until…

“Y/NNNNNNN!!!!” The sound of Mina yelling pulls you out of your nightmare and you shoot up from your spot ready to fight whoever was hurting her only to shrivel back down in pain.

“AH!” You shriek.

“M-miss. Pinky! I told you to not wake them up like that!” A young girl dressed in a nurse's outfit rounds the curtain. The nurse looks to be no older than 13 or 14 years old but seems to be handling a syringe.

‘Is she qualified to work as a nurse?’ You wonder.

She nervously attempts to scold Mina in a squeaky voice, her eyes refusing to meet the pink girl and instead looks down at the hem of her apron. “They’ll wake up how they did and break something!”

“Well you told me I couldn’t shake them awake and this was the next best thing!” Mina grumbled at the young girl. “Plus there’s no way to wake them up without surprising them.”

Mina was right, due to your quirk if you were to fall asleep you’d enter what you call sleep lock. When you fall asleep you are incapable of waking up on your own, no matter how much time passes or how dangerous the environment is. It’s like flipping a light switch in your brain, if the electricity isn’t on the whole system powers down. So you need someone to create some simulation for you to wake up. Screaming in your ear has worked before but you prefer for people to shake you awake.

Though you supposed they had to, seeing as your leg has been shattered in two and any movement you make sends waves of pain through your body.

“Ughhh, you didn't have to yell so loud though.” You grumble, Mina lets out a giggle and wraps her arms around you. The unnamed nurse looks like she wants to ask her to get off of you but holds her tongue. “Mina could you please let go so she can see if you broke anything?” She huffs and hesitantly pulls back, keeping her arms wrapped around yours. The young nurse comes around to the side of the bed and begins to check your leg.

Looking at your surroundings it seems you're in the U.A. nurses office on one of the medical beds. You have a cast wrapped around your leg that the young nurse is now re-dressing.

You wanted to ask Mina some questions but you doubt they’d give you answers at the moment. From how deflective they were being towards you during the walk here, they probably wanted to tell you what happened as a group. Plus you think it would ruin the mood for Mina. She was looking at you like you were a star ascending down from the heavens before her.

“Mina? You okay honey?” Her eyes began to well with tears as you spoke until she abruptly burst into tears. “Woah, Mina! Hey Mimi, it’s okay I’m here.”

You try to comfort her but her cries only seem to get worse as she grips your shirt and pulls you closer. “I’M SO SORRY WE- *HIC* WE… AHHHHH!” All you can do is pet her head while she cries in your arms. “DON’T YOU WORRY (Y/N), I’M NEVER LETTING YOU GO AGAIN!” You supposed anyone who would have heard that would have been grateful to hear it. But something churred in your stomach and her words felt more possessive than comforting.

Just as you were about to speak a familiar voice spoke up from the shadowed corner of the room. “Hey Mina, let's let our classmate breathe for a second.” The figure of Midoriya walked out of the corner and crossed the room to the front of your bed. Mina crying stifles a little and she pulls herself away from you with a saddened expression on her face. The green haired boy had his hero costume on along with his signature yellow scarf wrapped around his neck. Just like the others' costumes it was torn, ripped, and stained. The closed eyes smile that decorated his face felt forced, as if it was some weird rubber mask. You had the feeling he wasn’t happy to see you, at all.

“It’s great to see you in, decent, condition,” a shiver ran down your spine as the green-haired boy spoke. He’s talking down to you like he’s a business man and you're the rich client that he hates. What is it with everyone having a grudge against you now? “I hope our nurse Nanaka has been treating you well.” At the mention of her name the girl working on your leg jumped and her eyes widened in surprise. She quickly bows with her head before going back to your leg, avoiding eye contact.

“Y-yes, she’s been very good.” You hesitantly speak up, the mood Midoriya is radiating right now is making you question if he’s gonna try and beat your ass too. “Are you alrig-?”

“(Y/n) I’m going to need to ask you some questions!” He interrupts you and slides a chair to sit next to you. “Mina, would you please excuse us?”

The pink girl freezes up and tightens her grip on your hand, “Wait but you said-.”

Midoriya puts his finger up to shush her and checks the watch on his wrist. “It doesn’t matter what I said early, I’m saying this now-,”

“But-!”

“Mina,”

“Midoryia-!”

“Get.”

“Please-!”

“Out.” A silence falls over the room. Mina slowly lets go of your hand before standing up and making her way out of the room while making small comments through sniffles and whimpers on how this is bullshit.

You watch the scene unfold in shock, you never knew Midoriya could be so… scary.

“Sorry about that Mina can get oddly protective when it comes to friends in the hospital.” He comments as he turns his attention back to you.

Your eyes are still glued on the door Mina left from, “Not really, I’ve only seen her like that once with Ms. Midnight during the war.”

“Mhm.” You turn back to Midoriya whose smile is now gone and his eyebrow twitches.

“Anyways,” His face goes back to an overly happy smile, “I have to ask you a couple of questions before anyone else comes to talk to you. Then I’ll answer some of the questions you might have.”

“Alright.” You shift uncomfortably in your medical bed.

“Great.” He said, glancing down at his watch again.

“What’s the last thing you remember before fighting Kachan?”

“Well, I was out on patrol with Shoto and this girl was getting ‘kidnapped’.” You put your finger up in quotation marks. “So Shoto and I went to arrest the guy but he threw some black stuff that encased me and then after a little bit it let go of me and the street I was on is now destroyed."

Midoriya only hummed in response, “Next question, do you know what the Edo is?

You rack your brain for anything related to Edo, “No, I don’t think so. Wait, do you mean like the Edo Period?”

“Hm, thought so.” He said completely ignoring your question. “The first time we met was during what class?”

You tap your finger on your chin, “Uhh, Present Mic’s class and we were paired up for an icebreaker question!” You answered confidently.

“Wrong.”

“Huh?”

“Trick question, we met during the entrance exam and you tripped me accidentally and gave me a jolly rancher as an apology.” He nonchalantly corrected and checked the time on his watch again for the 500th time.

‘Shit.’

“Last question. What happened at the end of the war?”

“The war? It ended right after you defeated All For One, most of the villains were either dead or arrested.” Just like the other question, Midoriya only gave a small hum and leaned back into his chair. “Now that I’ve answered all of your questions can I get some answers to some of mine?”

Midoiya paused and checked his watch again, then gestured to you to question him. “Fire away.”

You rolled your eyes at his avid insistence to check his watch every five seconds, “Okay, first question, what happe-.”

“BED BUGGG!” A shout rang out from the hallway and the med bay doors slammed open and a gang of your classmates burst through the door. A t-shirt and a pair of pants flew at you and encased you in a hug.

“Ah, Hagakure!” You seethe through your teeth as the pain in your leg worsens. Suddenly two other bodies slam themselves into you. You see a tuft of yellowish blonde hair and brown hair surrounding you. “Denki! Ochako!”

“You three get off of them, they are still injured! Please refrain from causing damage to them any further!” You hear Ida plead with them and picked up Hagakure and Ochako by the scruff of their shirt.

“Nanaka, since they’re awake, are there any changes to their condition?” The attention turned to Momo as she spoke to the nurse who was finishing wrapping your leg up.

“Well, they seem to be in pretty good condition. I’d say they would heal within a mon…” She looked up at the group before pausing nervously, fidgeting with her apron.

‘Aww, poor girl must be scared of all the attention on her.’ You pity her.

“U-um, they should heal within five months or more…” Five months? You thought she was gonna say one month? “They can be taken out a-anytime with regular check-ins with me. I-i’ll take my leave now.” She bows then sprints across the room to the desk Recovery Girl used to sit at.

“We can take them back to the dorms, finally!” Denki, who is still attached to your side, cheers.

Ida rubs his chin and says, “Yes, but we need to get them there safely and tell the oth- KAMINARI WAIT!”

In one swift motion, Denki picks up bridal style in his arms and races out the medical bay doors. Yelling and protest is heard from behind you as Denki runs out with you in his arms.

You panic as you get carried away from the medical wing, “Wait! I didn’t get to ask my questions!”

“Don’t you worry about that!” He says rubbing his cheek on your head, you crinkle your nose at it, “Don't you worry about anything, we’ll take care of you. We’ll take care of you.”

‘Damn, my stomach is hurting again…’

Notes:

[A/n]: Fun little detail that I'm kinda proud of myself for is the reason why Midoryia checks his watch. He planned it perfectly so that he had time to ask you questions but knew Mina would go blabbing to the others that you were awake and they would interrupt you just before for you could ask your own question. And he was checking his watch to see how much time he had before the others got there :D Did you notice that? :D Are you proud of me :D (Please say yes) :D

Chapter Text

As you run out the main building and to the dorms, you can’t help but notice how many people are walking through the hallways and courtyard. None of them are wearing U.A. uniforms, they are either wearing normal clothes or some type of dark hero get up.

Once you arrived at the dorms you were promptly stopped by Ojiro, who had a less than pleased look on his face. “Why are they here? Did that nurse say they were okay to live in the dorms?”

“Yup,” the yellow-haired boy said, flashing the blonde a smile.

“Well why didn’t you give us a warning!?” Ojiro raises his voice and smacks Denki on the head. Denki groans and you giggle, “You left five minutes ago, did you pick them up as soon as they said they were alive!”

“Well, uhhhhhh…”

“Yeah, that’s basically what happened.” You butt into the conversion and Denki gasps. He stuttered out a few unintelligible words, trying to defend his actions.

You smile a little as a warm feeling fills your chest. Unlike in the med bay where it felt cold and sterile, here it was a bit brighter, it felt normal. The feeling was hard to explain but you were happy none the less.

Ojiro sighs and puts out his hand, “Fine, just give me their crutches and we can walk them in-,” Ojiro stutters for a second before sighing in his hands, “You forgot them didn’t you.”

“...No comment.” Denki mumbled, avoiding eye contact with the obviously ticked off man.

The tailed man grumbles in his hand before giving Denki a sharp look, “You, put them down and hand them to me. Now I want you to walk yourself back to the medical bay where you will get crutches and extra medical tape. No talking to other people, no pit stops at the cafeteria, just crutches and tape. Got it?”

Sweat drops from Denki’s head as he transfers you to the lighter blonde and runs off.

Ojiro turns to face you and his mood switches instantly. “Sorry about that (Y/n), I just made some veggie curry with rice. Do you want some?” He said with a closed eyes smile.

“Veggie curry? Are you going vegan on us Ojiro?” You joke with a smug expression.

He paused for a second before chuckling, “Hehe, I would never dream of it, besides I doubt anyone would eat it if I didn’t put chicken stock in it.”

You continued talking as he brought you inside the dorm. Even though everything had changed outside in the city you found the common room the exact same as you last saw it, minus a few things added here and there. The big windows were beat up and covered by wood planks or black soot marks. You looked like marks from Todoroki’s fire but you have no idea why he would use his fire inside. Another thing you noticed was the stacks upon stacks of papers and books. You tried to get a good look at one of them before Ojiro turned you away and told you they were top secret. One of the papers you did manage to get a glimpse of looked like a laboratory of some sorts.

The tailed man continued to walk you across the room and to the couch. On the couch, you spotted your classmates huddling around each other. Right in the middle was Mina who was crying her eyes out to Kirishima.

With you in Ojiro's arms he came up right behind them and put his finger up to his mouth to tell you to be quiet. He slowly crept behind Mina and lifted you over her head and into her lap.

“...would he kick me ou-!” Her eyes met yours and her cries were abruptly stopped. “(Y/N)!”

Mina drove into you for a hug, this time more carefully. “You’re back! How did you get down here so fast?! Nobody let us know you could come back!”

Ojiro responded for you, “Denki dragged them here the moment he heard they were free to come back. I sent him to get their crutches.”

“Of course he did.” Sero groaned at the friend’s antics, “How are you feeling (Y/n)?”

“Peachy,” You say and gave an okay sign, ”The nurse down in the medbay is pretty young but they seem to be doing a good job.” Though the pain in your leg is still very much present, the girl did a good job subduing the pain. “Has Recovery Girl been helping her?”

The mood shifted as you bring up the older woman “Uh…”

Your friends glance at each other before Tsuyu speaks up, “We will talk about it later, but we shouldn’t discuss it right now.”

“Oh, sure...” Sensing the uneasiness you put into the room with your question you try to change the subject. You take notice of Shouji’s ‘Sinnisters’ band shirt and point it out. “Oooo Shouji, I didn’t know you were into metal bands?”

He glances down at his shirt and shakes his head, “Oh no no, I just found this shirt and I thought it had a cool design.”

“And then we all called him a poser cause he wouldn’t give it up, even though he doesn’t know a single song.” Kirishima said and stuck his tongue out at the poser.

“The price of the shirt was your chip supply,” Shouji says puffing his chest out, “You didn’t agree to the terms so I kept the shirt.”

“Don’t listen to him (Y/n)!”

˗ˏˋ⚡︎ˎˊ˗

Shouji’s and Kirishima’s argument eventually fizzled out and the conversations got calmer. Soon Denki came back with Hagakure, Ochako, Ida, and Momo in tow and they circled around you.

Momo holds your face tightly in her hands moving it side-to-side, her eyes filled with worry, “Are you alright? I should have stopped Denki as soon as he raced out of the dorms. I’m sorry, this was a miscalculation on my part.” She hung her head in shame.

“Hey Momo, it’s alright,” You place your hand on the other girl’s rough hand, “I didn’t get hurt. Plus, even if Denki were to drop me, I’d bounce right back.” You say and flex your biceps.

Her face is still filled with worry as she sighs and lets go of your face. Momo mutters a few “Of course, of course…” as she walks to an empty armchair.

Your eyebrows knit together as you glance at Momo. ‘She and Ojiro were really worked up about Denki carrying me here. I may have a broken leg but I’m not that breakable…’

As the evening continues your friends come up to you and talk. You can tell that they are either wary of you or worried for you. The group that found you in the streets, Kirishima, Momo, Sero, Mina, Tokoyami, and Jiro, seem to be the ones that fuss over you the most. Asking you if you're comfortable, offering to do things, moving you closer to them, and holding you in their arms. Stuff like that, that creeps you out a little.

Meanwhile the others seemed to be getting more and more comfortable with you as you talk. Before, they’re eyes scanned over you as if they were looking for something wrong, but now they were moving themselves closer to you.

By this time, almost all your classmates had arrived in the dorm and were sitting somewhere near you; Minus three people. Midoriya was standing in the kitchen watching you all like a creep, Bakugo was nowhere to be found, and Shoto was standing in the shadows of the hallway staring at you. He thinks you can’t see him but you’ve got a third sense when it comes to spotting people trying to hide. You’d think a person could get their boyfriend to at least say hi to after their leg has been shattered.

You tap Kiriashima on the shoulder and gesture for him to lend you his ear, “Can you tell Shoto that just because a place is dark, doesn’t mean that we can’t see his bright ass hair in the hallway.”

Kirishima looks up at the hallway and giggles, “Yo! Todoroki! How long have you been standing there?” He shouts at the man. Heads turn to the hallway and Shoto turns his head away in embarrassment.

“Long enough.” He responds back in a muffled voice. You’ve noticed him for about twenty-five minutes now. You scoff, ‘You’d think the second year of U.A. being purely about undercover missions would make him more sneaky but here we are.’

“Shoto! Come over here if you're done brooding.” As you said his name you could see the sides of his cheeks dust with pink. He meanders towards the group before stopping right next to the couch. He fiddles with something in his pocket and keeps his head turned away from you.

“Heyyyy Shotoooo…” You call out in a sweet but smug tone. Your finger pokes at the man’s side, but he continues to ignore your advances, “Babe?”

His breath hitched and you heard the ‘fwop’ of a fire lighting and he quickly pats his shoulder. You decide to back off once you realize he doesn’t wanna be touched, “Missed you Sho~,”

As you let your finger fall from his hip you feel a warm hand grasp around yours and, before you could blink, pulls you into a hug. Your legs are lifted off the couch as you are carried into Shoto’s arms. Your arms instinctively wrap over his shoulders and your head nuzzled into the crook of his neck. The faint smell of soot and burnt fabric filled your nose.

“Missed you too…” He whispers softly. The room had all gone back to their separate conversation, the sound of your classmates chatter turned into white noise as you two held each other. His thumb shackly rubs over your shoulder as if to calm himself.

Even though you didn’t know how long you’ve been stuck in that goo, it must have been a long time. You needed answers, and soon.

“Enjoying yourself Todoroki?” Kirishima interrupted your moment, you could practically hear his smirk forming on his face. Shoto grumbled and you could hear Kirishima chuckling, “Are you gonna hold them hostage foreve- WAIT WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!”

Shoto jumped backwards and sprinted across the room. He kept your body secure to him with left arm and your head secured to his shoulder with his right arm. The panicked yells of your classmate made a laugh bubble up in your throat at the panic this was causing. His legs carried you two to the hallway to the dorms until he stopped in his tracks.

“Todoroki. Now is not the time to carry them off,” Midoriya’s eerily happy voice exclaimed, “Not when we haven’t answered their questions, they’ve been wanting answered!”

Your head perked up at Midoriya’s words. You felt your boyfriend hesitate before slowly walking you back to the couch. Your classmates sighed in relief as he rested your back on the couch’s arm. He sat himself in front of you and lifted your legs and placed them on top of his own, being very careful not to twist your leg. His tight grip from your head was now moved to your leg and rubbed his thumb up against your unbroken leg’s ankle.

When you finally got a good look at his face and you were taken aback by what you were met with; Todoroki’s soft eyes were now sharp with dark bags hanging below them. He looks like he hasn’t slept for days. His cheekbones were slightly sunken and a new scar decorated his lip.

“Sho…” Your fingers instinctively reached out to brush his hair out of his face but you were stopped by Shoto grabbing your hand and wrapping both his around yours in a protective manner. He met your eyes for a second before quickly looking away. He’s acted like this before, even in the early stages of your relationship he was never this skittish.

Midoroiya crosses over and seats himself on the table across the couch. You look around at all your classmates who have all turned their attention to you. The sudden amount of eyes on you make your skin crawl. Everyone is staring at you like they’re about to tell you you're gonna be trapped in a hamster ball the rest of your life.

Your eyes lock with Midoriya’s, he gives you a sad grin and shakes his head. “Y/n, this is gonna be hard to explain but…”

“Just say it Midoriya.” You say flatly, tired of the missing context everyone else seems to have but you.

“...you’ve been missing for a month.”

Notes:

[A/n]: Finally the class has met back up with you and everyone is happy :) Totally off topic but, all characters will have a chapter dedicated to them or a special short story that will show their yandere behavior!
