A sweet scent fumed in the witch's house. The small group of individuals had planned to make another batch of cookies, a special batch. These cookies will hold great power within themselves, having the chance to call themselves heroes.
Each witch gathered the supplies to create the batch, each of them had their own station for the process. Gather the ingredients, mix, and mold into dough. Once they're rolled, they precisely shaped it with special cookie cutters.
The cutters held a light purple hue to them, making them different from the dull, silver ones. Removing the dough that was cut, they did the usual process. Mold it, roll it, and cut into a new one.
The shapes appeared to look like gingerbread man cookies, one which placed the pan inside the oven, turning the heat up to max. The kitchen glowed with different colors that continued to change.
From red-orange, to blue, then to purple that was mixed with pink. The heat from the oven enveloped the witches, proud smiles laced their lips as they waited with anticipation. "Are we planning on eating these?" one witch questioned.
A witch next to her shook her head. "These are a special batch. These are not to be eaten. And be quiet, the cookies outside can probably hear us." she stated firmly.
A loud buzz interrupted their conversation, one of them grabbed the oven mitts before striding their way towards the oven.
The colors inside the oven disappeared, carefully taking the pan out to give them a look. Each of the five cookies glowed with a red color, they each gave off a unique scent. Sweet, spicy, buttery. Two of them didn't give off a scent, but they were cooked nicely.
Placing the pan on the wooden table, they watched with excitement as each cookie began to glow, slowly ascending in the air. One by one, they each took form.
The first one appeared female, their dough was white as flour, hanfu beizi clothing with a large tan skirt. Her lips held a faint smile, staring at her creators with light-tan colored eyes and white slits.
"Greetings, my creator." she spoke with a low, gentle tone, bowing in the process. The witch that pulled them out of the oven smiled at the polite cookie. They then watched as the other cookies began to come to life.
The second cookie was male, having shoulder pad-like armor with spikes, a waistcloth with the combined colors of red, orange, and yellow. His dough was a red-orange color, having long, black hair with small strands that poked out.
The cookie held a wide, toothy grin, showing off his sharp teeth. His red eyes with orange slits narrowed as he surveyed the area, taking in his first breath. "Who are you?" he inquired with a low gruff tone, not noticing the other cookie that was just made.
"We're your creators," the main witch shot back, this one had some attitude. Way different from the first beast. "You are the first batch of special cookies we've made."
That was all she said, earning a low hum from the male cookie before turning towards the third cookie that began to take form. On his upper chest area, he had an indent of a triangle shape.
The third cookie had light blue dough and appeared to be another male. His hair was curved downwards, small blue eyes began to appear in his hair, looking around the kitchen. He held a light, professional smile as his two different colored eyes pointed towards the witches.
His clothing represented the traditional harlequin jester costume, matching the blue and black clothing with his dough skin.
"Hello, everyone. What brings you all here?" he greeted with a light, joyful tone. On his collar, it had some sort of clip-on accessory, different from the indents on the other cookies.
The witch begins to explain why he was made with the others, nodding in the process. He takes a look at the other cookies, waving with a polite smile. The female cookie greeted him with a small wave while the buff-like cookie replied with a small nod, crossing his arms.
The three watched as the fourth began to form, their dough was a light pink color as their hair was pink as well with long, curly locks. It appeared to be another female cookie, her pink half-lidded eyes with soft white slits and long lashes.
She wore a long, flowing chiton, something that the greek would wear with large, soft pink wings that sprouted behind her. Her cookie represented an angel, holding a small white harp in hand with a pink halo on her head.
She had a crown-like headpiece that formed the shape of an upside-down heart on the center. A graceful smile stretched on her face as she examined the kitchen and the witches. "My, my. This place looks so gloomy." she spoke with a light, happy tone as she gently strummed her harp.
Some of the witches around them couldn't help but chuckle at her words, but with a firm glare from the main witch, they immediately quiet down. She ignored the pink cookie's words, watching the cheerful cookie wave at the others.
The cookies then directed their gaze towards the final cookie, watching it rise from the pan and take form. The cookie wore a suit of purple and black armor; their face was covered with a mysterious yet regal helmet that hid their face.
On the center of their armor was an indent that was an upside-down fleur-de-lis. The cookie that was adorned in armor glanced over to the witches, slightly tilting their head.
"Ah, this one doesn't speak." hummed the main witch, not knowing if this one was a boy or girl.
Now, with the five cookies made, the head witch strides her way to a counter, picking up a specific box. The small cracks illuminated with different colors, placing it down in front of the special cookies.
Taking the lid off, a bright hue of colors illuminated the head witches face, a sinister grin slowly stretched on her face. The cookies watched with confusion as the witch carefully pulled out small gems out of it.
"These are Soul Jams," she started, getting the cookies' attention. "These jams hold great power within them, only to be used for good." She picks up the first soul jam, giving it to the first cookie that was awoken.
"You'll be Mystic Flour Cookie, the virtue of Volition." She slowly placed the white soul jam near the cookie's forehead, watching it levitate. Mystic Flour gave her a thankful smile, her half-lidded eyes watched the floating soul jam.
Taking out the second soul jam, it was a small triangle that glowed an orange color. She gently placed it in the second cookie's chest, watching him slightly flinch once it was set in. "For you, Burning Spice Cookie, are the virtue of Change."
The orange dough cookie gently placed his hand on the jam, watching it shine from the light. There was a feeling inside of him, a puzzled hum escaped his lips before crossing his large arms.
The two cookies glanced over towards the cookie who was dressed like a jester, he was practically beaming where he floated on the metal pan. His eyes widened in realization as he noticed himself floating, a chuckle flowed from his lips.
The witch took out the third soul jam, it was shaped like an eye. She placed it on his collar; his eyes held a wandering glint. "Shadow Milk Cookie, you'll be known as the virtue of Knowledge." she informed, watching his smile grow wide.
Taking out the fourth soul jam, it was an upside-down heart shape with a beautiful shade of pink. Placing it on the hair piece, it caused the pink cookie's wings to flutter. "Eternal Sugar Cookie, you are the virtue of Happiness."
She beamed with stupendous joy, strumming her harp that emitted a delighted sound. Finally, she took out the final soul jam, it glowed a light purple hue that nearly took form as a flower. The witch gently placed it in the center of the armored cookie's chest.
"And last, but not least. Silent Salt Cookie, the virtue of Solidarity." The witches that surround the cookies watched as colors of power and magic flow around them. Each of them was surrounded by a color of aura that represented them.
Volition, Change, Knowledge, Happiness, and Solidarity. These virtues would give the cookies power to represent themselves as the heroes of Earthbread. From outside of the witch's hut, hundreds of gingerbread men stood there with excitement.
"What do you think they're making in there?" one cookie question.
"I don't know, but I can feel that they're making something special!" another replied with a toothy grin.
As the special cookies directed their gaze towards the main witch, they could hear muffled cheers from outside. "Who are those people outside?" questioned the angel-like cookie, hearing it grow louder by the minute.
"Those are other cookies that are waiting for your arrival," she explained, earning hums from the cookies. "Each of you will hold the same title together; The Beast Cookies."
Burning Spice couldn't help but somewhat chuckle at the name. 'Beast Cookies, huh? Are they sure that's a good title for cookies that are supposed to be heroes?' he thought to himself. Eternal Sugar then chimed in.
"Is it okay if we could meet them?" she questioned with a light smile. Some of the beast cookies agreed with her, wanting to see what was outside with a glint of eagerness in her eyes.
The witches couldn't help but cackle, seeing that they were already eager to meet the hundreds of gingerbread men. "We will do that in the meantime, but first," the main witch started, grabbing the pan the cookies were standing on.
"We're going to give you all your own domain. It will take time to build it from the ground up, but it will be worth it." opening the large wooden door, it revealed a large spread of land that was filled with green grass.
The cookies stared downwards at the many gingerbread men that surrounded the hut. Each one held an expression of awe, taking a good long look at the new cookies that were created. The beast had unique designs, standing out from the other cookies.
The witch lowered the pan down so the cookies could hop onto the grass. Now that they realized, the witches had easily loomed over them in height, their footsteps lightly shook the ground as she went back inside.
She placed the used pan back in the oven, seeing that it already cooled down. Closing the small door to the oven, she went back outside to introduce the cookies. Little did she know, inside the oven, a single piece of crumb started to slowly move.
"Good morning to you all!" she announced, hearing the gingerbread men roar with excitement. "I want to introduce to you all to the Beast Cookies! They will help you bring happiness to this land and become your heroes of this paradise!"
The gingerbread men began to surround the special cookies, greeting themselves to them. Eternal Sugar couldn't help but smile at the cookies, she's never seen so many people this happy before.
Mystic Flour and Shadow Milk politely greeted the cookies of the land; this was a new feeling to them. With Burning Spice and Silent Salt, they awkwardly stood there. The buff cookie just looked around, not knowing what to say.
Silent Salt just waved at everyone, not wanting to speak. The beast cookies lifted their gaze to the head witch, seeing that she still had something to say. "I want the five of you to come with me. I'm going to lead you all to your respective areas."
The cookies glanced at each other, guessing that she wanted to get the important things over with. Shrugged, they began to follow the witch, the ground lightly rumbled from the heavy steps of the witch.
They couldn't believe that this place was this big, there were small buildings, houses, and even small little stores. This place was so decorated in different ways, what could they even add to this place?
"This is where you all will grow your own kingdoms. You will also gain followers that will help throughout the way." As they continued to follow her, they stopped by a large piece of land that held the colors of white and gray.
It showed old, ancient structures that were covered with sakura flowers on banzai trees. "This will be your realm, Mystic Flour Cookie." she introduced, watching the cookie stare at the scenery with a delighted smile.
"Thank you so much." she spoke, her low tone slightly pitched. She waved the other cookies before heading towards her domain. It was beautiful, she was practically made a few moments ago and she gets to have her own space.
The sound of multiple footsteps caught her attention, glazing over to see a small group of cookies. "We're here to help you with your land and your power." one of the cookies spoke. She gave them a grateful nod before looking around the area.
The rest of the beast cookies followed the witch, suddenly feeling the temperature shift. It didn't really bother some of the beast cookies, but with Burning Spice, he started to like the heat.
"This will be your domain, Burning Spice Cookie." The buff cookie takes a look at the area. The color of the sand in the terrain was the same color as his dough. The landscape represented fire, each column and statue had some sort of egyptian lettering on it.
A light hum flowed from his lips, crossing his arms. "This might not be so bad." he spoke gruffly, a small toothy smile lacing his lips before striding into the desert-like terrain. The witch rolled her eyes with amusement before leading the other cookies to their locations.
Next was an all blue and white structure area that had small towers with it. The blue dough colored cookie loved the diamond patterns of blue and black floor. "This will be your area, Shadow Milk Cookie. This place is built with multiple libraries that will help you."
The jester couldn't help but smile brightly, hoping to get some reading time while his area is being built. "Thank you, creator!" he beamed as he floated towards his area, there were so many books to read and gain knowledge.
Eternal Sugar giggled at the excited jester, using her wings to guide her upwards towards the witch's shoulders. She hoped that her area will be filled with colors that will brighten the area. Looking forward, her eyes widen as she sees a large forest with pink trees.
She immediately took flight towards it, leaving a pink trail behind her. Flying over the pink trees, more colors seemed to envelope her vision, excitement coursing through her. There were colored trees, pink rivers with colorful clouds floating in the sky.
'These are so beautiful! I get to have this whole forest to myself?! I love it here already!'
"I see that you already like your forest, huh, Eternal Sugar Cookie?" she hummed with a teasing tone. She watched the angel-like cookie dash through the forest, wanting to talk about everything she sees.
"I think this will be a great place for cookies to relax and find happiness." the witch insists, watching the pink cookie nod with excitement.
"That would be delightful! Thank you so much!" she replied, watching some of the cookies enter her forest. Exchanging goodbyes, the witch began to lead the final beast cookie to their respective area.
While walking, she stole a few glances towards the silent cookie. It seems that they like to be on their own, also wondering if they're ever going to take their armor off. Taking the final step, they made it to the final area.
The ground was a dark purple color with black designs around the area. "We didn't know what to think about this area for you, so maybe you could give your followers some ideas to help you."
A low hum escapes Silent Salt, slowly walking around. This place was huge, what could they do with it? They were just made, and they were given a large piece of land. What was this place? The armored cookie replied with a small nod as they walked through the empty area.
The witch placed her hands behind her back, slowly walking back towards her hut. She smiled at the beast cookies, watching them design or relax in their newfound homes that were given to them.
'This will be a wonderful paradise for the beast cookies. I just hope that nothing happens to the future heroes of Earthbread' she thought, making it back to her home. Walking inside, some of the witches finished cleaning up the tables.
Placing the sacred ingredients back where they go, the other witches said their farewells before walking back to their huts. Closing the door, a sigh escapes the main witch's lips. "There's so much to do with these cookies. What will happen throughout the years with the beast cookies?"
Could this be the right thing to do? Make five powerful cookies and make them heroes. She hopes that nothing happens to them.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard something coming from the oven. It was slightly muffled, but she was able to catch it. Slowly stepping towards the oven, she opens it to see nothing but the pan she used earlier this morning.
She looked through it for a few minutes, making sure that nothing was in there, she didn't want any cookie spying in here. With a shrug, she closed the oven doors, walking back to the kitchen to fix her something to eat.
While she was by herself, the crumbs on the pan began to slowly move. Small bits of burnt crumbs and fresh crumbs from the beast dough began to group around the brown crumbs.
The crumbs lightly scraped against the pan, creating a shape that would look like another cookie was being made.

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
A few months managed to breezed by, each of the beast cookie's kingdoms managed to grow every day. Each beast had managed to get used to their power, everyday was something new for them.
Mystic Flour Cookie was able to use her virtue to help her followers, granting them helpful resources so they could achieve each other's goals. Even when the process is slow, the result will become a great success.
She was dedicated to helping those around her, feeling proud of what she can do with the skills she had. Herself and Eternal Sugar were able to combine their skills to help the followers that have granted them help.
When things go from bad to worse, she's able to help herself by refraining from it, knowing that it can stress the mind and herself.
Burning Spice Cookie had some struggles with his virtue, but with the help from his followers, he was able to make some ideas of it. The virtue of change was being able to help himself as well, building himself a character that will help him have an easier way to do things.
Every day was something different, something to do, something to thrive. His mindset was able to help those around him, gaining more opportunities that will help him and his people. Combining his skills with Shadow Milk, they were able to help those who wanted to change themselves.
His emotional sense and values himself to become a greater person with his people, remembering out he nonchalant or to himself most of the time. But now, he was able to thrive with others.
With Shadow Milk Cookie, he was able to find so much joy when consuming so much knowledge. The jester believed that if one wants to pursue something when it comes to mind, go for it!
The more he inherits, the more he could use his mindset. He questions and examines his own beliefs to others, knowing how each mindset is different from others, and they can help them process things more clearly.
The times where he self-mastered a number of books he read to himself, helping those who desired a topic throughout his library with his followers. The number of times where he nearly burnt himself out was able to view another perspective of knowledge.
His virtue had managed to make himself stronger, using what he's gained and completing difficult tasks for himself and to those who acknowledge him.
During these past few months, he was able to craft himself an outfit that stands for himself and his virtue. Adoring himself with white and blue clothing, equipped with a golden staff with an eye-like structure on top.
Eternal Sugar was able to bring such happiness to those who felt down within themselves. Her virtues can come up with different traits that will help herself and to her followers. With the help of courage and friendship, she was able to spread her sweet words.
She was able to virtue herself in a colorful way, having the thrill to guide others to have such a sense of fulfillment with her emotions. The more she explores, the more ways she could help express herself and to those who want to achieve such happiness.
Her happiness was able to help flourish herself, knowing not to stress herself out and to feel good about herself within virtue. When other cookies, sometimes with the other beast cookies, are feeling a bit down within themselves, she's able to guide them to their emotions.
Now, with Silent Salt Cookie. They kept to themselves most of the time. Out of the beast cookies, they were more introverted. They had some difficulties of their social nature with others, sometimes having the help from their fellow beasts.
Within time, they were able to slowly grow towards others from the help from their followers. Accepting the social bonds from the gingerbread men, sharing with others that will help their emotions grow.
Even when they don't say a word, their actions of supporting, uplifting and corporations are what makes them unique. They find themselves somewhat vulnerable to others, their walls breaking down to let others in and become a peaceful civilization.
As the beasts continue to build their kingdoms, they're able to mix up their virtues with each other. Like wisdom, adaptability, transformative, harmony, enlightenment. They could come up with so much more.
From the background, the witches couldn't help but smile at how much the cookies have grown. There were times where the gingerbread men would want the witches to learn about the cookies, how they could build with their comrades.
But as time passed, the pan in the witch's oven had more crumbs than ever. Burnt, colorful, and fresh crumbs had grouped themselves. It managed to move off the pan and settled somewhere near the doors of the oven.
Right now, the sentient crumbs were able to form the upper body. It had a head, torso, and arms. But there was no face, and no eyes either. Yet it was able to glance to where they wanted.
Its movement was shaky, slow, distorted, as if the crumbs weren't supposed to become one.
The oven was slightly cracked open, feeling the slight breeze in the kitchen. It trudged its way towards the glass, the sound of the upper body dragged itself there, adding the sound of scraping to its movement.
Raising one of its arms, the crumbs would crack and snap against each other. Pushing the door, they were able to stick their head out, examining the area. You couldn't tell what it was thinking while they take in the new scenery.
Using their arms as leverages, it managed to fall out of the oven. But when it impacted the wooden floor, the crumbs splattered across. As a few seconds passed, the crumbs slowly began to regroup back together.
Once it forms back together, it seems to be different from how they formed earlier. Their head, torso, and arms were a different size. Looking around, the crumbs that formed the tiny neck cracked and jagged.
It then started to move. Its arms slowly dragged themselves on the floor, taking in the area. Lifting their gaze, they see tables that loomed over them. They couldn't process the thought of what to say or think.
With their slow movement, they felt a grainy texture of the floor, its arm had picked up some flour that was left on the ground. It couldn't smell anything, continuing their trudged movement through the kitchen.
It was odd, everything looked so old.
Suddenly, the sound of the door opening caused them to stop their movement, a bright light gazed upon them. Slowly turning towards the opening, they see a large figure standing there. They couldn't tell who or what it was, a pointy hat covered their face.
What they didn't know was that it was a witch, the main witch to be specific. Her gaze fell onto the formed crumbs, slowly closing the door so she could see it better. 'Where did those crumbs come from?' she thought.
She recalls hearing some things in the oven, nearly driving herself to the point of insanity because she couldn't find out what was making that noise. She continued to stare down at the crumbs; they seemed to form the upper body like a cookie of some sort.
The attempt of the crumbs that formed looked uncanny, eerie. There were a mix of different crumbs that were assembled. The witch didn't know what to do, the crumbs just stared at her, as if they were waiting for the witch to do something.
They stood there for a minute, watching the crumbs finally move, but it wasn't moving away from her, it was moving towards her. The witch couldn't feel her feet move her body against the door.
She's way taller than the horrid crumbs, so why wasn't she doing anything? It looked like a cookie that's been crumbled for so long, and it's been brought back to life; like a zombie. Before she could reach over to the counter to grab something, it stopped.
It lifted its gaze towards her, slightly tilting its head. The witch flinched when she heard the cracks of the crumb move against each other. It had no eyes, yet it still stared at her. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she slowly crouched to the ground, watching its empty gaze follow her.
"How did it come to this?" she mutters, pointing a single up. She slowly moved it across her face, watching the crumb-like cookie follow it with no problem. Weird, she thought. Before she could place her hand down, she heard something coming from the oven.
It was a slow, tapping pattern against the door of the oven. The witch glanced towards the crumbs, seeing that it wasn't moving, just watching her. Trying to fight the shiver that went straight to her spine, she quietly walked towards noise.
It was slowly getting loud the more she crept towards the oven, grabbing the handle to pull the door down. On the metal pan, there was another group of different crumbs, watching it slowly form into a pair of legs.
'Is that... the bottom half?' she thought, watching how it hopped out of the oven. This time, it didn't fall flat on the ground, it was able to stand onto its feet, slowly making their way towards its upper half.
The upper half of crumbs watched as its legs fell to the ground and attached themselves. Small cracking sounds can be heard as it perfectly slotted together. The witch stared in shock, bewilderment, disbelief, and wander.
The two halves of crumbs were able to form like a cookie, it moved its limbs a few times as if they found a new body to host. The witch watched as the cookie stared at them, its uncanny appearance caused a shaky sigh to emit from her.
Slowly crouching towards the cookie, she hesitantly held her hand out. Was this "Cookie" friendly? It just stared at her wrinkled hand, slowly stepping on it. She carefully lifted them upwards, carrying them to the table.
The witch sat on her chair, watching the crumb-like cookie with a wandering glint in her eyes. It started to look at the things around the table, finding some colorful dough a couple feet away.
She watched it walk towards the ingredient, the crumbs stared at the colorful dough with confusion. What was this stuff? The crumbs didn't move, yet some of the dough started to flow towards it, causing the crumbs to step back.
It didn't touch it. So why did the dough move?
It stood there for a moment, watching the dough flow towards them. 'Why is the dough reacting like that? This dough was specifically made for the beast cookies... Matter of fact, who took out the dough?' she thought.
The crumbs were trying to get the dough off of itself, as if they didn't want it. The witch just watched as the crumb-like cookie fall on its behind as it was consumed by the dough, the hand made with crumbs tried to reach out to the witch, but it was pulled back by the dough.
The head witch slowly got out of her seat, reaching her hand behind to find something to protect herself with. She never took her eyes off the dough, watching it twitch with rigid movement on the table before it started to move on its own.
It moved towards the oven, hopping onto the pan that was still in there and slammed the door shut. She could've sworn she saw the crumb-like hands try to push the door open, making her run towards it. "What is it doing?! Why is this dough reacting like this?!"
Her hands firmly grasped the handle to pry the oven door open, but it didn't budge. The sudden feeling of burning heat caused her hands to retract back to her, watching the knobs move on its own to turn on the oven.
She watched the colors illuminate from the oven, turning from red-orange, to blue, and then to purple and pink. Covering her eyes from the brightness, she heard the door slammed open, directing her gaze to see another witch.
"What's going on?!" she questioned, earning a confused yet firm glare from the head witch.
"I don't know! There was a group of crumbs that were taken over by the beast dough!" she replied to the other witch. "And since we're asking questions, did you touch this dough?"
The witch shook her head, saying that she was outside with the other witches. Their conversation was interrupted by a low hum, hearing it grow louder to a higher pitch. The witches take cover as the door to the oven slammed open.
The blistering heat surrounded the room, and the two witches started to sweat. The humming started to die down, the bright light dimmed down until it was no more. Then, a presence of a smell fumed in the kitchen.
It was a combination of different smells, reminding them of the beast cookies that were made months ago.
The witches looked over towards the oven to watch a cookie float over to the table. The color was a bright red, just like the other beast cookies were like before they took form. "Were you going to make another beast?" spoke the other witch.
"I wasn't. There were these sentient crumbs that were wandering around here. When I placed them on the table, the dough started to react to them. And it managed to form itself into the cookie shape without the special cookie cutter." she stated, glancing over towards the cookie.
They watched the glowing red cookie start to twitch, finally taking form. The new beast landed on the table, struggling to stand up. They had a unique base colored dough skin with small splotches of pink, red, blue, purple, and white on their dough.
There were some spots that were burnt, guessing that it didn't mix in with the special dough. Their icing eyes had a hint of color in them. Glancing under their eyes, they had a small mouth that held a light frown.
With this beast, they weren't made with clothing, just like the gingerbread men. When they moved close to the edge of the table, they tilted their head at the witches.
They noticed how the cookie didn't say anything to them, just staring at them with a curious glint. Finally standing up from the ground, they noticed a shaped indent on their stomach area.
"Are you... okay?" the head witch spoke, earning a silent nod from the cookie. The witch noticed that they didn't wear any clothing, making her turn towards a shelf behind her. She had made some clothing for some cookies a long time ago, so the cookies could tell who they were.
She placed a small box down in front of the new beast, watching their eyes survey over the different colored clothing. Their hands touched the clothing, liking some of the textures. Their eyes seemed to brighten a bit when they found a specific clothing they liked.
The witches lightly chuckled at the cookie that tried on the clothing. The cookie liked the choice of clothing, watching the other witch grab a small mirror from the table and place it in front of them.
The beast cookie stepped closer to the mirror, taking in their appearance. Was this... you? Your hands lightly roamed on your limbs, noticing the small colored splotches that seemed to be part of your dough, as if it were remnants that were added.
There were parts of your body that were faintly pointed, seeing that some of the crumbs were slightly poking out. You turned your gaze back to the witches, silently nodding at them, meaning you liked the clothing.
"Do you think we should show them outside? Maybe even to the other beasts?" a witch questioned, earning a hum from the main witch.
"I think we shouldn't. They were just made, and that would probably overwhelm them," the head witch replied, watching you feel a shaped indent on your stomach. 'That's where their soul jam is supposed to go... But I only planned to make five of them.'
The two witches glanced towards the door that led outside and then to each other. 'I think we should let them stay here for a bit. There's no telling how the others will react to a new beast. This one seems to be very unique... Also, what would their virtue be like?'
Chapter Text
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
So, after a few explanations of what happened to you, it seems that you’re supposed to be some kind of Beast Cookie. The main witch had explained how you didn’t originally start from a dough base.
Her encounter with you was unnatural, to say the least. Currently, there were no cookies that were based on crumbs. The cookies were the basic gingerbread men.
You were just sentient crumbs that had some kind of mind of its own, yet you were made into a cookie. From now on, she needs to make sure that she cleans the oven more often. On your stomach, you felt a shaped indent, a puzzled expression forming your face.
“That’s where your soul jam will be in, but right now I don’t have the ingredients to make them. So right now, you’ll just have to wait.” the main witch stated, earning a light nod from the new beast.
She felt a gentle tap on her shoulder that was coming from the other witch. “So what do we name them?” she questions, hearing a hum escape from the other witch. You continued to stare at them, hearing them discuss what to call you.
“I think we should call you Lost Crumb Cookie,” insists the main witch, saying how you were based on crumbs that would roam without a host. “But if you don’t like the name, we can just call you [Name], so it will be simple to others.”
You gave them a nod, a faint smile gracing your lips from the new name. “Can you speak?” spoke the other witch. You stood there on the table for a bit, the icing that structured your expression slightly scrunched up.
Opening your mouth, you only managed to say a small sentence. “I… I think I can…?” you struggled to speak; your voice was slightly scratchy from speaking for the first time.
One of the witches stride towards the kitchen to get something from the fridge, walking back to give you a small glass of milk that was cookie sized. The glass had fit in your cookie hands, drinking the beverage with a light hum.
You felt the coldness within you from the drink. “Thank you…” you spoke more clearly now, earning a small grin from the witches.
It was silent for a moment, the witches watched as you finished the small glass of milk. “Lost Crumb,” the main witch called out, getting your attention. “Do you want to see… what is outside of this house?” she questioned, her voice filled with slight hesitance.
The new beast tilts their head. There was another place other than here? Inside the hut, it was cold and sort of eerie. It was mostly dark, only getting some light that was covered by the curtains.
The witches explained that the outside world was much brighter and colorful than their home. You could meet the gingerbread men villagers that happily roam Earthbread and become one with society. “Are the beast cookies similar to me…?” you asked.
The witches sat down in chairs facing you. “Yes, but they’re very different from each other. Each of them have their virtue and emotion that will help them build their kingdom and socialize with others.”
“That’s right,” the other witch chimed in. “Maybe some time soon, you’ll find your virtue and maybe have a unique soul jam. You’ll be a new edition to the Earthbread society and have followers; maybe even your own kingdom.”
Taking in the large amount of information, the main witch gently placed her hand on the table. “Come, We’ll show you how colorful and bright the world is.” directing your gaze towards her hand, slowly stepping on it.
You noticed how they weren’t made like baked goods, their skin was cold and wrinkly. Their hands were a pale-green color. Were they a different species from cookies? How were they made?
As the main witch walked towards the front door in hand, you can see the brightness of the outside world beamed from underneath the door.
“Lost Crumb, I welcome you to Earthbread,” she opened the door, the wooden hinges creaking from the action as your vision was surrounded by a bright light, the smell of fresh air, breezed past you. The sound of banter came to a pause when you three exited out of the hut.
Opening your eyes, you were surrounded by colors from many structures. The grass shone with a beautiful shade of green as gingerbread men roamed the area. The bright sun shined down on the large village, making everything pop out.
The sweet smell fumed in the air, each of the buildings were made of some sort of dessert, but most of them were cookie based. One by one, the gingerbread men noticed that the witches were outside again.
“Why are they outside? I thought it would be a while until a new cookie was made.” spoke a puzzled gingerbread man, catching the attention from the other cookie residents. Mutters from the cookies began to grow slightly louder.
“Hello to you all. You might be wondering why we’re back outside, right?” the main witch announced, earning multiple nods from the tiny cookies. “Well, we’re here to introduce a new beast cookie!”
Surprised expressions plastered the cookies faces until they roared with unexpected excitement. A new beast? Already? It’s only been a few months and the other beast cookies had mostly built their kingdoms.
But they were joyful to be introduced to the new beast. The main witch crouched ground to the grass, showing the gingerbread men the new cookie. “This is Lost Crumb Cookie,” setting her hand on the grass, you were practically surrounded by the bunch.
“Now, now. Don’t crowd them, they’re not used to this much attention.” she quickly added. You held an uncertain expression, waving awkwardly to the sweet citizens. The smell of cinnamon nearly overwhelmed you, but you somewhat liked the scent.
“Do you have a virtue?” one cookie questioned, a bunch of other cookies nodded with agreement. You couldn’t come up with the right words to answer the question, so you just shook your head.
“That’s okay, we’re just happy that they’re a new member of the village!” another cookie beamed. The cookies then took in your appearance, how your cookie base had small splotches of colors that were based on the other beasts.
Besides the colors, you had a unique color for your cookie based body. The clothing you wore seemed to either match with your cookie base or a style that you liked. One of the gingerbread men lifted their gaze upwards to speak to the main witch.
“Is it okay if we can introduce them to the other beast?” one questioned, hearing the cookies roar with excitement. The witch nodded, explaining that they could explore all over Earthbread if they wanted to.
Placing your gaze back towards the gingerbread men, five different ones approached towards you. These must be the followers the witch’s were talking about, remembering that some followers have their own beliefs and respect other cookies that don’t follow the beats.
Each of them wore different clothing that seemed to match the other beast cookies. One wore a white, hanfu clothing and held a calm expression. They give off a pleasant airy scent.
The second one wore red-orange egyptian style clothing, a proud glint was present in their eyes, giving off a somewhat spicy smell. Next to them wore blue and white clothing, looking like a teacher or a scholar. They stood with a professional expression, smelling a creamy scent.
With the fourth gingerbread man, they wore a light-pink gown that lightly flowed in the gentle breeze. A joyful glint shined in their eyes as they practically bounced where they stood, smelly a fresh, sweet scent.
Now with the final cookie, they wore black and purple that were unique like the others. They held a faint smile, their hands posed behind their backs. “These cookies will be your guides to lead you and talk about the other beast.”
Nodding, the first gingerbread men that wore the white clothing began to lead you first. “I will lead you to the first beast. She represents the virtue of Volition in the land of Ivory Pagoda, where all cookies will be granted with helpfulness.”
A light hum escaped your lips, it seems that the kingdoms that belonged to the beats were kind of far from each other. The witches did say that their kingdoms were all over Earthbread.
Arriving at the first kingdom, an airy smell was present in the air. The structures were mixed with colors of gray and gold with light-pink sakura petals that bloomed. There was a statue of her near the front entrance, her eyes were closed with a light smile on her face.
When entering, her followers greeted you with a bow and light smile. Quiet conversations can be heard from the area, a calm atmosphere was present with a flowy mist. “This is where Mystic Flour Cookie stays,”
Pointing your gaze forward, you see a dark gray temple where some cookies walk in and out of. It loomed over all the other structures that were built around it. “Let’s see how she's doing.” The cookie guild spoke calmly, striding inside the temple.
Shortly following behind them, white pillars decorated the main room, cookies converse with one another. Lightly lifting your gaze, you see a cookie wearing a white hanfu and long white skirt. Her eyes were half-lidded, staring at her followers with a gentle expression.
“Mystic Flour Cookie,” the guide spoke, getting her attention, as well as some of the other cookies. “I’m here to introduce you to the sixth Beast Cookie’ Lost Crumb Cookie.” you felt multiple pairs of eyes on your, feeling slight goosebumps on your dough.
Half-lidded eyes found your slightly dull ones, her smile growing slightly bigger. Getting up where she stood, she made her way towards you. “It’s an honor to meet the sixth beast,” she greeted, bowing in the process.
You awkwardly bowed back, a light smile stretched on your lips. She begins to take in your unique appearance, seeing some white colored dough that was present with other colors. There were some on one of your arms and one on your leg.
“You have such a unique appearance,” She was the same height as you, but with her hat on, it loomed over. “What is it that you do?” she questions lightly. Your lips went to a firm line, trying to come up with something to say.
“I was recently made. I don’t have a soul jam yet.” you answered lightly, hearing an understandable hum from her.
“That’s quite alright, Lost Crumb. Can you tell me how they came up with your name?” you granted her a polite nod, explaining how you were made from burnt crumbs that were made from the other beasts.
As you explained your story, her expression slightly faltered, but it wasn’t noticeable. You felt her gently pat your shoulder, comforting you. But you heard a voice in your head, causing you to trail off.
‘ Don’t touch us… ’
Mystic Flour noticed how you went silent for a second, but you quickly stuttered an apology for trailing off. “It’s quite alright, I see that you’re still nervous about being considered a hero for the cookies. The time will come slowly for it.”
‘It’s like they’re not supposed to be here. They were crafted, but did they want to be?’
You gave her a thankful smile. “Is it okay if I get to learn about you?” you questioned, seeing that you have lots of free time to learn about the other beasts. Nodding, you both sat down. She gave you some tea that will help you be at ease.
Taking a sip, you emitted a light hum, enjoying the flavor. She explains how she wants to help her people with her virtue. The slow process of helping others was the one thing that had granted her joy.
She’s managed to grow so much to her people, using her skills to grant others by helping those who are in need of completing her goal. She apologized when she seemed to be speaking quite much, but you reassured her that she was fine.
You noticed how her followers seemed to have sat down and listened to her story. The soul jam that floated above her forehead slightly caught your attention. It was shaped differently and was placed in a different location.
‘I wonder what my soul jam would look like…’ you thought, continuing to listen to the end of her story on what she’s been doing for the past few months. By the tone of her voice, she seemed to have found her place of being a beast cookie.
As a few moments passed, her story came to an end. “I apologize if I overwhelmed you, I still have much to say.” she spoke gently, placing her cup of tea in front of her.
“It’s okay, Mystic Flour. I enjoyed it.” you replied with a gentle smile. You now know about how one cookie can give to others, and others can give to each other. It’s like a cycle of harmony, helpfulness.
With a sigh, you slowly got up from the carpet. “It seems that it's my time to go meet another beast,” you spoke, bowing politely. “I hope to see you later.” she answered with a small nod, exchanging gentle waves as she watched you follow the guide.
She sat there for a moment, remembering how you trailed off. ‘I hope this cookie will become one with hope. It seems that there’s something inside them that wants to keep them safe’
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
Exiting out of the area, you part ways with the follower. “Thank you for visiting, Lost Crumb. We hope to see you again.” the guide bowed, and you bowed back. Turning around, you see that the next guide belonged to Burning Spice Cookie’s area.
Answering with a nod, you began to walk side-by-side with the guide. He gave off a spicy scent, hence the name of the beast cookie. “I’m going to show you the beast that is able to help with change.”
You answered with a slight nod, the fresh smell of flour wasn’t there anymore. The kingdoms seemed to be next to each other, but you still had to travel for a bit before arriving. A spicy smell then became present.
The temperature seemed to rise a bit, but not to the point where you felt humid. The grassy area became a grainy texture, looking ahead to see a sandy terrain. Taking a look at the followers, they seemed to be thriving over something, an excited expression was present on their faces.
The guide explained how this place seems to change every day, how the beast that represents this area has come up with ideas that would help his people. Taking a step on the sandy ground, there were pants that looked like tomatoes for supposed decorations.
“This is the statue that represents Burning Spice,” looking to where they pointed, you see a statue that showed three animal heads in one body. Once being a boar, a bird, and in the middle, it seemed to be some sort of lion creature.
Going up a few flights of stairs, you both arrived inside of a temple. The spicy scent fully became present, your mouth nearly watered. In the center of the room, there was a mountain of black pots that were filled with different kinds of spices.
Inside, the area was in an hindu style kingdom, seeing markings and letters that belonged to the culture of the kingdom. Small pillars had small pits of fire on them, seeing that they lit up the place.
Walking up a flight of stairs, you arrived at his throne. “Burning Spice Cookie, I have arrived to introduce you to the new beast cookie.” The guide spoke in a polite manner. Looking forwards, you see a red-orange colored cookie that wore a loincloth with small baggy bottom wear.
Getting up from his throne, his appearance was buff and stood taller from his followers. Small markings of tattoos were marked on his arms and face, black long hair with small strands flowed behind him as he approached the both of you.
A small, toothy grin stretched on his face. “So you must be the new beast cookie?” he then pushed one of his hands out towards you. “The names Burning Spice.” you pushed your hand out to grasp his, forming a firm handshake.
“I’m Lost Crumb Cookie, but I can also go by [Name] Cookie.” you responded with a light smile. Your name seemed to make him quirk a brow up, his red eyes with orange slits held an interesting glint.
“That’s an interesting name. Can you tell me more about it?” he questioned, earning a small nod from the new beast. You explained how you only started off as crumbs, you didn’t have a purpose of being made yet here you are.
Your story seemed to make the buff cookie smile a bit, imagine how you changed into a cookie that wasn’t planned to be named. “Do you think the change ruined you or did you find a purpose that would help yourself like the new you?”
The guide watched silently as you both interacted, he likes how Burning Spice likes to talk to other cookies about changing themselves to become different. Those who don’t feel right within themselves would make their way over to the beast and question their beliefs.
“Even though I wasn’t supposed to be made, I feel I have a purpose to fulfill the title of being a beast cookie.” you hummed.
“And I think that’s a good motive,” he replied, crossing his arms. “It feels like you don’t have a sense of belonging, yet you’ve seemed how you want to feel about yourself. Maybe something inside you wants you to feel that.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his encouraging words, hearing a gruff chuckle from him. Within the conversation, you asked him what his motives and his virtue were, watching his toothy grin widen at the question.
The story begins on how he wasn’t used to his virtue, he would see himself being alone, isolating himself from his followers. When he was made and given a soul jam, he really didn’t understand what the witches told him.
Imagine being made and your purpose was to become a hero for the cookies in Earthbread right off the bat.
It actually took some of his followers to help him, explaining how he can use his virtue to change how he is. It was a slow process, remembering how awkward he used to be with others. But now, he’s able to enjoy and thrive.
He was able to come up with new things every day, changing things that would help him, and his followers feel happy. “And that’s how my story comes up. I wasn’t as bored as I used to be.” he chuckled.
“Tell you what, if you ever feel a bit down with yourself, come over to this kingdom and me and my followers will help you.” he insists. You thanked the buff cookie, exchanging waves before heading out of the temple.
Once you and the guide were out of his sight, he emitted a small sigh. ‘This one seems to feel like they don’t belong here… What were the witches doing with this one?’
As you and the guide walked out of the temple, you already saw the next guide patiently waiting. This gingerbread man wore blue, professional clothing, something a teacher would wear. Waving goodbye to the Burning Spice guide, you followed the next guide.
“Hello, Lost Crumb. Are you ready to meet the third beast?” they asked with a polite smile, walking side by side with you. When he gets your confirmation, he begins to lead you out of the spicy terrain.
The walk to the next kingdom was a bit far from the spice temple, the scent of spice couldn't be smelled anymore when a new scent became present. It was a light creamy smell with a hint of a berry smell within it.
The ground became a sleek blue concrete, hearing your footsteps lightly echoed. The kingdom was structured with multiple shades of blue and white colors. The followers looked like students, holding papers and books to themselves as they went in and out of the castle.
“Lost Crumb, I welcome you to the Fount of Knowledge.” the guide spoke as you both entered the castle.

A small hint of a blueberry scent became present as you arrived inside the castles. Your vision was filled with different shades of blue, purple and gold. The structures were made to look like libraries that would belong in a school of some sort.
The sound of cookie’s banter can be lightly heard, seeing them hold books or book bags that they carried. The cookies were dressed in formal clothing, seeing that they were heading somewhere important.
You and some of the cookies exchanged gentle waves, seeing that some of them were conversing in the halls or were in a hurry. There were small houses that were made with books, seeing how it was made up of two-to-three books.
“It seems that Shadow Milk Cookie isn’t busy today. I’ll take you to his quarters.” the guide hummed. Nodding, you both continued deepening into the Fountain of Knowledge. Less and less cookies began to show, some of them wearing fancier clothing than the others.
They must be a teacher of some sort, you thought. Focusing your gaze back forwards, you see a semi-large building that had cones poking out of it, nearly looking like a castle. In front were two giant doors that were colored in a darker shadow of blue with gold and white lining.
“Shadow Milk Cookie, is it okay if we come in? We have a special guest here.” the guide asked in a polite tone.
“Yes! You may come in.” the other beast cookie replied in a light tone. Opening the doors, the first thing you saw were piles of books that were stacked against each other in a neat pile. The fresh smell of blueberries became fuller.
Up ahead, there was Shadow Milk sitting behind a large desk with a small stack of books and papers that were already written. On the desk was a small sheep plushie with bright blue eyes. He wore a professional attire, wearing a white and gold suit with a small cloak.
“Oh! You must be the sixth beast.” a bright smile stretched on his face as he floated his way towards you, stretching his hand out. A light smile graced on your lips as you grasped his hand, shaking it. “It's a pleasure to meet you.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, too. I’m Lost Crumb Cookie.” you greeted. The guide excused themselves, striding their way out of the room and closed the doors. “How does it feel to be the Virtue of knowledge?”
He let out a small chuckle. “I love it. Every day, I get to learn something new, I’m able to spread my knowledge to my viewers and it helps others that want to know more.” he replied, clutching a book to his chest.
“So, how does it feel to be a beast? We weren’t told that there was another beast that was going to be made.” he questioned in a light tone. He then gestured you to sit down on a comfy chair as he sat back down at his desk chair.
“It’s been alright, still getting used to the things that have happened since I was made. I’ve met the other beast cookies, and they’re surprised that another cookie was made, but they welcomed me with open arms.” you respond, playing with your clothing.
Shadow Milk took notice of your dough, how some of the small splotches were like his dough. You explained that you were made up from dough from other beasts and burnt crumbs that were stowed away in the oven.
He let out an understanding hum, seeing that you were still getting used to having a big role as a higher rank cookie. It was a bit difficult for him as well when he tried to think of what to do with himself.
He was given the title that was supposed to represent knowledge, but he couldn't think of anything. What subject he should do, what did he need to study. So many things ran within his head that he nearly burnt himself out.
But that was until he got the help of his followers. They helped him with all sorts of books that could help him get his brain working, and at the same time, he was able to learn about the history of cookies.
“Can I ask you a question, Lost Crumb?” he hummed, feeling a certain question rise. Answering with a nod, he began to speak, placing his hands together. “Did you like being made?”
He watched your expression falter, seeing the gears move as you tried to come up with the words to reply. “I… I can’t say, really,” you replied, scratching the indent on your dough. “The witches told me that the crumbs that made me were different.”
You explained that the crumbs that stuck out of your dough were sentient, wandering around the kitchen. Also adding the fact that the dough reacted to the crumbs, as if they were supposed to be made.
The descriptive image of what the witches told you made you shiver. Crumbs that formed into a cookie and were forced into the oven, crumbs that didn’t want into the heated oven. It was like being burned alive…
Which would sound weird because that's how you guys were basically made. In an oven. It’s not like you had a choice, right? Whose fault would it be? You didn’t ask to be here. It was just crumbs.
Crumbs had no meaning, right? It’s just pieces that were broken off the cookies or dough that was being made. Would you be different if you weren’t made of crumbs? Would you look, see, or touch things differently?
Would it be okay to be normal? Did you want to be normal?
Shadow Milk noticed how you spaced out, a sudden blank expression was plastered on your face, just staring at the ground. “Lost Crumb?” he uttered gently, hoping that you could snap out of it. He watched you blink a few times before you lightly flinched.
“I-I’m sorry. I’m probably wasting your time.” you muttered an apology.
‘Yes, leave…’
‘You need to leave… It’s not safe…’
There was the voice again, but there was another one. They both sneered, but it wasn’t aimed at you. It was like they were urgently trying to get you to move away. But you paid no attention to them, making an attempt to step out of the chair, but the blue cookie beat you to it.
“No, no, no. It’s okay. It’s my fault that I asked the question. I didn’t know that you had to go through that.”
His tone was apologetic, watching you slowly sit back down on the chair. “Here’s another question. Have you met the other beast?” he watched you nod, watching a faint grin become visible on your face.
“Yes, I’ve met Mystic Flour and Burning Spice. They told me about their virtues and how they handle themselves and help others.” you replied, the gone look in your eyes slowly disappeared as the gentleness came back.
The blue cookie smiled, seeing that you were able to visit the other beasts. He remembers when he met those two, Burning Spice had the same motion as his, not being able to think about what they would do.
With Mystic Flour, she was able to help both of them, reassuring them that they don’t burn themselves out and make sure they take their time. And with the help from their followers, they were able to set a fast-moving process.
You both quirked up a conversation, saying how you were unique to the other cookies. The knowledgeable cookie was glad that you were able to open up a bit, seeing how you were quiet or rather shy.
“I feel like we should stop here at the moment, I don’t want to keep you here when you haven't met the rest of the beast.” he chuckled, getting up from his desk. Nodding, you both made your way to the door, opening it to reveal that the guide was still there.
“I’ll see you on your next visit, Lost Crumb.” you both exchanged waves as you and the guide walked side by side. Closing the doors, he let out a hum, placing a hand under his chin.
‘By the look at their expressions from earlier, it seems that they’re still trying to process how they’re alive… I just hope the next beast is able to help them…’
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
Walking out of the Fountain of Knowledge, you couldn’t help but feel weird. It wasn’t from Shadow Milk Cookie, it was about you. The weird feeling on your shoulders was going from heavy to light.
The guide asked if you were okay, getting a shaky nod and smile from the sixth beast. The smell of blueberries was no more as you arrived at the entrance of the blue and white area. Thanking the guide, you waited patiently for the next one.
You lightly began to trace the colored splotches on your hand and arm, liking the feeling. Suddenly, a pair of footsteps became present, looking up to see a gingerbread man wearing soft pink clothing with a bright grin.
“Hello!” they greeted, but they quickly lowered their tone of voice when they startled you. “I’m sorry, I’m just really excited to see you. You’re the sixth beast, Lost Crumb, correct?” you nodded, chuckling when the cookie jumped with joy.
“Good! Now, I’ll show you the fourth beast.” grabbing your hand, they ran towards the direction they were coming from. Even though you were taller than the gingerbread man, you made sure that you didn’t trip and fall from the ground.
Looking ahead, you start to see large leaves and trees become present, a sweet, sugary smell blooming in the air. Large pink flowers had bloomed on the ground and were hanging from colorful trees.
You then start to see more gingerbread men that were wearing all sorts of pink clothing. Some were wearing shorts and shirts while others seemed to be wearing some sort of relaxing clothing.
“Here it is! The Garden of Sweet Delights!”
You stared at the entrance in awe, structures and pillars were made up of colorful marshmallows with gummy-like statues that hung flowers off of them. The sound of cheerful banter from the other cookies were enlightened, hearing cheerful laughter from them.
You’ve seemed to have caught their attention, watching them wave happily towards you while some of them ran towards you. You greeted them with a gentle tone, feeling a tad bit overwhelmed by the attention.
“Guys! Relax, I’m here to give them a tour of the garden.” the cookies hummed as they backed away, getting a thankful nod from the guide. Whispering a thanks to your guide, they started to lead you further into the sweet garden.
The sound of waterfalls gently became known, feeling relaxed as you took a look at the pink liquid. It seemed to be a sweet liquid, seeing how some of the cookies were drinking out of it by placing their glass under it.
In the background, you heard individuals singing in harmony, watching how some cookies either relaxed at the sound or danced with pure joy. Shiny candy hearts were littered in the pink bushes, some of them even had bite marks on them.
“Hmm, it seems that she isn’t in this area. We’re probably gonna have to go to the heart of the garden!” The guide started to slightly pick up the pace, the sugary scent becoming pure to the point your mouth nearly watered.
Coming up in view, there was a maze, causing your eyes to slightly widen. You could barely utter a word as your guide beat you to it. “That’s okay, I know the directions.” nodding, you carefully followed the guide, making sharp and quick turns into the maze.
Each corner had small, colorful angel-like beings that chirped happily with another, filling up the atmosphere. “We’re getting close!” the guide announced, watching the bushy maze disappear as you see a large, pink water fountain that sprouted out the pink liquid.
The sound of a cookie happily humming can be seen strumming their small harp. “Miss Sugar! You have a guest!” the guide announced, getting the pink cookie’s attention. She turned around, a gentle smile graced her lips.
She wore a flowing light pink chiton, curly pink hair that ended on the mid-end of her back. On top of her head was a pink halo with pink wings behind her. Her pink eyes fell onto yours, watching her smile brighten.
“Hello! You must be Lost Crumb Cookie.” she greeted, flying her way over towards you. The guide behind you waved goodbye before exiting the main garden. You can practically see a happy aura surrounding her.
“Yes, I am.” you replied with a light smile. “I’ve just been visiting the beast that was already made before me. You’re the fourth beast I’ve seen today.” she let out a chuckle, gently grabbing your hand as she led you to the giant fountain.
“That's great! I’m Eternal Sugar Cookie, I was the fourth beast that was made from the witches.” she replied, stopping at the front of the fountain. The pink cookie summoned a small glass before turning back to you.
“Would you like some?” she asked in a gentle tone. You answered with a small nod, watching some of the pink liquid land inside the glass. Thanking her, you took a sip, sweetness filled your tastebuds, humming in delight.
“It’s sweet, I like it.” you hummed. She gave you a thankful smile, sitting down on the soft grass. You sat in front of her, waiting for her to speak.
“I’m so glad that you were able to come see my garden. I am the Virtue of Happiness, I help others feel this sort of emotion so they can feel good about themselves.” she continued to explain that she was already happy when she was made, as if it was her dream.
“That’s nice of you to do that. I think everyone should have that type of emotion within themselves.” she smiled brightly at your words, enjoying a cup of the sweet liquid as well. She then asked you what your view on happiness is.
“I think that it encompasses your life, a feeling of positivity that can evaluate one's life to feel pure joy.” you replied, lightly swirling the glass in hand.
“I like that. I remember when I was first given the role of happiness, I wanted to help people have that feeling. The amount of people that were helped started to live here in my garden, and they see this as a paradise.”
She remembered that her virtue can help her explore more emotions that were able to help her. She took some advice from Burning Spice, having new ideas to thrive with the people from her garden and spreading the feeling to everyone else.
As she continued to speak, your mind began to wonder about the emotion. Happiness should be an easy emotion to feel, right? It’s a sense of good feelings within you and should help you be at ease.
You didn’t feel that sort of emotion when you were created, but you were slowly getting used to it. As for the other beasts, they were able to find their happiness that will help them with their virtue.
The other beast cookies were able to succeed and thrive on their virtue. Would you feel that sort of emotion as well? You can fake it, but it won’t be the same. Will you have trouble in the future to feel pure joy?
Were you the only beast that wasn't able to feel that?
Eternal Sugar noticed that you froze for a bit, gently tapping your shoulder. “Sweetie, are you okay?” she hummed gently, watching you blink a few times before nodding. You reassured her that you were fine, but she noticed how you held the glass with both hands, watching them shake.
It wasn’t from the drink, she thought. If you were going into a sugar rush, your entire body would be slightly shaking. She watched you silently downed the entire glass, as if you were dehydrated.
As you placed the glass on the grass, you were suddenly pulled into a comforting hug, flinching as you felt her hand gently soothe your clothed back. “Are you feeling okay?” she gently inquired, feeling your arms hesitantly wrap around her back.
“I’m fine,” you replied, your voice muffled on her clothed shoulder. “It’s just… I feel weird. When I was created, I didn’t feel some sort of belonging because the witches told me that there were supposed to be five Beast Cookies.”
“So what you’re saying is that you don’t know what to feel ever since you were made?” she hummed, getting a nod from you. “What did you feel when you were first created?”
You were silent for a moment, trying to come up with a single word. “Lost… I feel my mind wandering sometimes. It happened when I was meeting with the other beasts as well.” you replied.
Humming, she slowly broke the hug, a comforting smile laced her lips. “Who is the next beast that you’re going to meet?” she questioned. You told her that you were going to meet Silent Salt Cookie after her.
“Well, when you’re done with the introductions, maybe you should get some rest. I know that you're probably feeling a bit tired, aren’t you?” you couldn’t help but chuckle, nodding at her question.
You both then stood up from the grass, walking towards the maze so you could meet up with the guide. “If you ever feel like this, come visit the garden. I’m sure that me and my followers will make you feel better about yourself.”
You nodded with a small grin. “That’s what all the other beasts told me. Thank you.” exchanging goodbyes, she watched you and the guide walk into the maze. She flew her way back to the fountain, strumming on her small harp.
‘It’s sad to see one that can’t feel such an emotion. Everyone should feel it. I really hope the witches can help them when they’re done. They seemed tired…’
Back with you and the guide, you exit out of the maze as you make your way towards the entrance. “We’re glad that we get to finally meet you, Lost Crumb. We hope to see you again.” spoke the cheerful guide.
You chuckled. “Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to visit.” waving goodbye to the guide, you already see the final guide. They wore purple clothing, parts of it seemed to look like armour. They wore a purple bandana over their eyes as well.
“Greeting, Lost Crumb Cookie. Are you ready to meet the last beast?” they inquired. You nodded, feeling yourself slowly getting tired from walking all day, but this was the last visit, so you can make it.
“Good. Now, Silent Salt doesn’t speak that much, they use sign language.” The guide then held their hand out. “If you touch my hand, it will give you the ability to help you communicate with them.”
The gingerbread man's hand glowed a soft purple color as it gently glowed on their hand. Slowly tapping it, you felt a cool rush within you, but it slowly disappeared. You blink a couple of times as you see the guide's hand slowly rise.
“Are you okay? Can you understand me?” he signed with a question. You stared at your hands for a bit, making awkwards motions with them.
“I… understand?” you slowly replied, watching the cookie faintly smile.
“Good. Now let's get going, I Can tell how tired you’re getting.” the hummed with a gentle tone. Getting a nod from you, you both walked away from the sweet garden, the scent that fumed from it started to go away.

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
You both entered the final beast area, there was no smell in the air. There was a hint of salt in the air, but you really couldn’t smell anything when entering. All the other kingdoms had smells that either represented the kingdoms, or it was a personal smell the beast liked.
Lifting your gaze upwards, the sky held pink and orange color, guessing that the day was about to be over. Time seems to go by when you’re meeting a lot of cookies.
Taking a look around the area, there were different structures that were made up of black, purple, and a hint of white material. The place was silent as well, only hearing the footsteps that belonged to you and the other residents.
You brought up your hands, trying to figure out how to sign a full sentence. “Is this place mostly quiet?” you questioned, getting a small nod from the tour guide.
“Most of the time, yes. But they do converse with one another. We enjoy the quietness around here, but still get along with the other followers from the other beasts.” they replied, getting a small nod from you.
Throughout the walk, you began to practice sign language with the guard, wanting to get some of the basics. You were slowly but surely starting to pick up on sign language, hoping that one day you could have a full conversation without messing up.
Continuing on forward, you see a large structure up ahead, colored in black and purple, it seemed to be some sort of castle, similar to Shadow Milk’s but still different in their own way. At the entrance, there were a few guards that wore black armor that was decorated with different designs.
“Excuse me, we’re here to see Silent Salt Cookie.” The guide greeted them with a formal tone. “I’m here to bring the new beast so they can meet them.” The guards glanced over to you before firmly nodding, steeping away from the doors.
Thanking the guards, the guide opened the doors, hearing little to no creaks in the hinges. The cold ground then became carpet, the scenery inside was decorated royalty-like. Sculptured moldings, chandeliers, there was even a training ground outside.
But then you realized something. “Do any of you guys know what gender Silent Salt is?” you hummed, not wanting to misgender the beast.
The guide chuckled at your question, waving their hand dismissively. “We don’t know, we just go by gender neutral terms.” they stated, getting a small nod from you.
Your footsteps seemed to echo, now seeing how quiet it actually was. Moving forward through a few hallways, you see large wooden doors that were blocking the other side. The guide quietly stride their way closer, giving it a soft knock.
As a few seconds passed, the sound of quiet footsteps made their way towards the doors. Once they stopped, the doors opened, revealing a cookie that wore a suit of armor with small purple designs.
On their helm, a small purple flame gently flowed behind them, seeing that they’re not bothered with it. Their helmet had lines to represent the eyes, on the center of their chest was their soul jam, it was shaped like an upside-down flower.
The armored cookie stared at the both of you, waiting for either of you to speak. “Greetings, Silent Salt.” The tour guide signed first. “I am here to introduce you to the new Beast Cookie, Lost Crumb Cookie.” the guide stood to the side, gesturing towards you.
A small wave of anxiety flowed through you, your hands slowly shook as you tried to greet yourself to the silent cookie. “Hello… I’m Lost Crumb, but I go by [Name] too.” you signed the best you could with a shaky smile.
It seems that the guide had given you the ability to sign, holding their hands up to greet you back. “Greetings, Lost Crumb. Have you met the other beasts?” they signed, tilting their head over to let you in. You gave them a nod, walking inside to see a combination of their room and a personal training room.
Glancing a few feet away, you see a sword that was hung on the wall, guessing that was their main weapon. The gentle sounds of glass clinking together caught your attention, turning back around to see that they were giving you some tea.
Giving them a thankful nod, you took a sip of the liquid. It was a bit bitter and somewhat bland, but was enjoyable to taste at least. Taking another sip, you watched as the silent cookie began to sign.
“How have you been lately? I noticed that you were nervous when signing.” you gave them a sheepish smile, scratching the back of your head.
“I’ve been good… been traveling all day.” you signed slowly, feeling a bit dreary. The armored cookie decided to take a look at your appearance. You had different colored splotches that lightly littered on your base dough, making you look more unique than the others.
They then signed a question, asking if you were able to get your soul jam. They noticed that your expression faltered a bit, shaking your head. You gently pressed your hand against your clothing, making an imprint of a unique shape on your stomach region.
You also signified to them that you haven’t thought about your virtue, explaining that you’ve been going through some emotions that make you feel… worried. Unsafe, even. “Did something happen when you were made?” the silent cookie signed.
They watched you ponder for a few seconds, watching your hands hesitantly rise from your lap. “My body reacted differently… been hearing voices too.” you signed the best you could once more.
You tried your best to explain in sign language that these voices were telling you to leave, saying that this place wasn’t safe for you. Letting out a shaky sigh, you took a long sip of your tea, feeling the warmth inside of you.
Signing a quick apology, you asked him what their virtue was. They gave you a nod as they started to sign. “My virtue is about Solidarity, it means I embrace the responsibility and a shared purpose with one another in society, even when I’m independent.”
They explained that they first didn’t know anything about their virtue, closing themselves off from society. As time slowly went by, their followers were able to convert them into their society. They were able to help those who were independent and made them have a close heart to society.
The explanation reminded you of Burning Spice, he wasn’t used to the attention and his virtue as well. But within time, he was able to thrive with his people, coming up with new things that would help him and his people.
Silent Salt could tell that you were confused on why you were made, they felt like that as well when they were created. The witches had told them and the other beats that they would be the heroes to the cookies of the kingdom, but there was no threat.
As you finished the rest of your tea, you placed the cup down. Your hands slowly raised, the armored cookie noticed the hesitant movement. “Do you feel… safe here? In this kingdom?” you questioned, watching the silent cookie tilt their head.
“I do,” they sign, you noticed that their hand movements were a bit firmer than last time. “But there are times where I would think about it. I’m still skeptical about the witches, but it’s been peaceful. Whenever I have free time, I get to train.”
You emitted a hum when taking in the information. So far, it seems that Silent Salt is still questioning the witches, but decided to push that thought so they wouldn’t worry so much about it.
A silent yawn escaped from you, making sure you cover your mouth. “What are you doing after this? You must be exhausted from all that walking.” Silent Cookie signed, getting a faint chuckle out of you.
“Going back to witches…” you signed with a lazy smile. “Hopefully to get some rest.” the armored cookie nodded, agreeing with your choice. You both stride towards the doors, opening it to see that the guide was still patiently waiting.
“I’m glad that we got to meet, Lost Crumb. I hope you find yourself within time.” the silent cookie signed, earning a thankful nod from you.
“Me too. See you next time.” you replied back. Exchanging waves, Silent Salt closed the door to their quarters, emitting a muffled sigh. It was good that there was another beast cookie made, maybe his followers can help you become one with society.
‘I hope they feel better the next time we meet. They seemed to have the same mindset as mine… Why were we made? What purpose do we serve if there’s no threat? I hope they tell me what the voices tell them…

Back in the heart of Earthbread, the main witch was busy gathering up supplies and placing them down on the table. She was busy making a soul jam for you, she didn’t want you to feel left out.
She didn’t have a base for the soul jam, so she had to use a substitute; use leftover scraps that made the other soul jams. Striding her way to the fridge, there was a colored clump that showed a mixture of all the other beast cookies soul jams.
She knew that it was a bad idea to mix them all, but you wouldn’t notice, right. Carefully taking it out of the fridge, the cool steams fumed off of it before placing it on the table she just cleaned. Grabbing a roller beside her, she sprinkles some flour and sugar onto the clump before rolling it.
The texture was dense, unlike the other jams that were easy to roll out. The colors merged together, fighting over what color it was supposed to make. The white and pink tried to make the base a light color, but with blue and purple, it formed a darker color.
The process was slowly starting to tire her out, but she needed to make sure that this was before you get back. Finally rolling it out, the base color was now black, which was weird, she thought.
Was it supposed to look like that…?
She thought she was going to get a unique color, but it was just dark, darker than Silent Salt’s soul jam. Emitting a sigh, she grabbed a shaped cookie color, firmly pressing it down. Taking the printed shape out, she placed it on a clean pan before putting it in the oven.
Turning the oven on, she quickly placed it on the highest setting like she did the other ones. An intense heat filled the entire kitchen, her breathing slowly growing shallow as she watched the colors of the oven change.
From dull red hue, to a shiny blue, to a brilliant pink color that was mixed with purple. Suddenly, the lights went out for a second, causing her to blink as she heard the oven go off. What is going on?
Getting an oven mitt, she carefully opened the door to the oven to pull the pan out, a wave of different scents fumed off the soul jam, watching it shine from the light. It seemed to have formed into a star, placing it down on the table so it could cool off.
Cleaning up her mess, she heard something faint coming from the soul jam. Faint whispers, voices. She noticed that there were some crumbs that broke off the soul jam, eyes widened in disbelief when they started to move away from the soul jam.
She remembered when the batter from earlier would react to your sentient crumbs and you were forced into the oven. Each crumb would try and scatter away from the jam, but a sudden force pushed them back towards it, sinking.
Whenever each crumb would sink into the jam, black fumes would faintly stream out of it, also adding the fact that the whispers were getting slightly louder, she could’ve sworn she heard a few screams as well.
She waited in silence, wanting to see if this event was going to happen again. Was the soul jam going to come alive? Why were the sentient crumbs forced into the soul jam? The black fumes then disappeared, so did the screams as well.
Waiting a few silent minutes, she carefully waved her hand over the jam, it was cooling off now. Staring at it, the jam gleamed brightly, as if nothing happened. Her breath lightly hitched when she heard a soft knock on the door.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, he quietly stepped her way towards the door, creaking it open. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, her shoulders relaxed when she saw a tired looking beast rubbing their icing eyes.
“Ah, [Name]. How have you been?” she greeted with a gentle tone, opening the door so she could let you in. You trudged your way inside, feeling a faint wave of heat hitting you.
“Good, just exhausted… I had to walk to a lot of places.” you replied, earning a chuckle from your creator. Closing the door, you hopped into her hand, seeing that she wanted to show you something.
“I have a surprise for you,” she hummed with a gentle yet somewhat shaky smile. You watched as she grabbed a cool pan a few feet away from you, showing you a shiny object that was shaped into a star.
You blinked at the shape, your hand automatically found the indent on your stomach, it was the exact same shape. “Is this my…” you uttered, the tired feeling was slowly going away.
“It is, my dear. Your Soul Jam.” she finished, gently grabbing it with the tip of her fingers before giving it to you. She watched you inspect the item, it darkly gleamed in your hands, but you didn’t notice it.
“I think I have a perfect virtue for you, Lost Crumb.” she hummed, watching you lift up your clothing to reveal your stomach region that had the star-shaped indent. As the soul jam got closer to your stomach, the voices returned, the same two voices.
‘No! Don’t do it!’
‘Stop! Throw it away!’
The voices continued to shout and demand you to put the soul jam down, but your dreary mind ignored them, slowly placing the jam onto your stomach. The jam glowed, hearing it let out a low hum as your body glowed.
“Lost Crumb Cookie, I deemed you to be the Virtue of Salvation.” she stated. A faint grin slowly stretched on your face, slowly rubbing the jam. You had no words, you finally have your own soul jam!
You silently cheered in your head, but you felt a sudden feeling in your stomach. Was this supposed to happen…? Why were you suddenly feeling pain? “A-am I supposed to feel this?” you stuttered, feeling your knees buckle.
The witch held a firm expression that showed concern and confusion, hearing your breathing become shallow. “What do you mean…?” she slowly inquired, watching you fall to your knees.
“Am I supposed to feel pain? W-why does i-t hurt…?” you groaned out painfully, clutching your stomach. Your vision was going in and out, this wasn’t supposed to happen, right? A high pitched ring was heard, the harsh whispers were added as well.
CRACK
You both froze when a loud crack pierced in the air, your hand hesitantly rose up your clothing, shaking. Taking a look at your stomach region, there was a faint black line that cracked on your stomach and around your soul jam.
You didn’t notice the wetness that streamed down your cheeks as a jam-like substance slowly leaked from the crack. As a few tense seconds passed, you blacked out, falling limp on the table, the sound of the whispers from before went faint.

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
The sound of rushed footsteps trampled their way to the main kitchen, multiple witches bursting through the door with wide-eyed expressions. “What happened?! I heard something broke!” one of the witches exclaimed.
The main witch breath hitched as multiple eyes fell on her, beads of sweat began to drip down her forehead as her eyes glanced back and forth between the witches and your unconscious body.
“I-I was giving [Name] their soul jam,” she started, stuttering a bit as she continued. “I didn’t have enough ingredients to m-make a new virtue gem for them, so I just used the rest of the ones that were in the fridge.”
The group of witches' eyes widened in disbelief. “Why… why would you do that?” a witch with black hair trudged her way towards her, never breaking eye-contact. “Do you know what you just did to the poor cookie? Especially when one of them is a beast cookie!”
The main witch stood back from the other, using the table as a leverage. “What was I supposed to do?” she replied, her eyes slightly narrowed. “I didn’t have enough supplies. Do you know how long it takes to get supplies?!”
“Then you should’ve asked one of us to get them!” the black-haired witch barked back. “We’re you that impatient to give them their virtue?” She then looked towards the table, her breath hitched when she saw you unconscious with a small pool of red jam under you.
Quickly stepping her way towards the table, she carefully picked you up, grabbing a napkin and gently but firmly placing it on your stomach area. “Poor little thing, you’ve been through so much.” she gently whispered.
As she slowly took off the napkin, she sighed with relief as she saw you still breathing, but it was faint. Taking a closer look at your soul jam, it was shaped like a star in a black color. Small, vein-like trails were faintly present on your stomach region.
Your dough was slowly becoming pale, quickly turning towards the other witches. “Get the medical equipment, now.” she demanded firmly, watching the other witches quickly grab the specific supplies from the other room.
The black-haired witch carefully carried you to a small desk that was near their resting quarters, finding a small bed that was large enough for a cookie to rest on. The sound of hurried footsteps erupted, watching the other witches come in with the supplies in hand.
Monitors for your heart, jam pressure, and ventilators for breathing. They also had a small jar of red jam, tiny tubes and small needles. The main witch watched in silence, she could hear her heartbeat slowly ring in her ears.
‘This… Oh, how can I be this stupid?’ she thought to herself, but it was broken when she earned a firm look from the black-haired witch, silently asking her if she was going to come up. Swallowing the lump in her through, she jobbed her way towards them.
She grabbed a clean needle, taking it out of its seal. One of the witches gave her a small tube that was connected to a small bag of red jam. Connecting the needle with the other end of the tube, she carefully aimed it towards the small crack on your stomach region.
Once it slowly punctured your dough, the black-haired witch stole a few glances at the main witch and at you. As the needle was held down on the crack, she carefully placed a small bandage before wrapping a bandage around your torso, holding the needle down.
A cold, tense silence was present in the air as they watched the thin tube being slowly filled with jam, slowly entering you. The witches carefully placed the tubes on the multiple monitors that were around you.
Placing wires on different parts of your body, they placed the breathing mask on your face, getting a heartbeat that was slow, but steady. A low, faint sound was emitted from your soul jam, glowing faintly behind the bandages.
The sounds of a steady beat were heard from the monitors, but they didn't know whether to relax or not. The black-haired witch glanced towards the main witch, noticing the somber yet hopeful expression on her face.
Placing her hand on her shoulder to get her attention, she pointed her head towards the other room. Nodding, the main witch followed her, their footsteps were silent as they were now away from the others.
“What were you thinking?” the black-haired witch uttered, watching the main witch look towards the ground.
“I was only giving them their soul jam… I didn’t know that it would cause all this.” she replied, her voice was low, nearly faint.
The black-haired witch pinched the bridge of her nose, emitting a sigh that held exhaustion. “Do you know how the other beast will react when they see their companion in bed surrounded by monitors?” she continued to press, her voice was firm, but held no malice.
The main witch clenched her, it was like she was being disciplined. “They’ve been through a lot since they were made, and all I did was add to it…” she muttered. “The look in their eyes before they went unconscious, it was as if they were betrayed by us.”
She remembered the sound of the loud crack was made on your dough, nearly flinching as if the sound echoed in her head. “How long do you think [Name] is going to be out for?” she questioned.
The black-haired witch slightly shrugged, crossing her arms against her chest. “Since they didn’t lose that much jam, they’ll probably have their normal dough color by tomorrow. But I doubt that they’ll feel better by then.”
Her eyes met the other witch, seeing that she was about to say something. “Did you even ask them if they even wanted their soul jam?” the black-haired witch inquired, patiently waiting for her answer.
The taller witch was silent for a moment, trying to remember the events that happened within barely half an hour. “I didn’t… by the time they arrived back here, I had already mixed up the leftover ingredients to make it. I saw how exhausted they were, from meeting everyone in town, the other beast. I bet they were still questioning why they were made.”
A few tense seconds passed, her hands clenched again by her sides. “Should we…” the main witch’s words trailed for a bit, still wondering if they should do it. “Alert the other beasts? I don’t want to hide [Name] from the others.”
The shorter witch blinked, her gaze falling to the ground. “As much as I want to, I don’t think we should.” she replied. She knew that the other beasts are probably tired from their work today, noticing the sun in the background slowly settling.
“Elvira…”
The black-haired witch's eyes slowly widened, they hadn't said each other’s name in so long. She felt her heartbeat pick up the pace, knowing that if there was a reason to say their names, they were thinking of something bad.
“Should we… eat them-”
The main witch barely finished her sentence, flinching when the other witch slammed her fist on the table. “Arlene… Did you even think of the words that were uttered from your mouth?!” Elvira didn’t care if she uttered the main witch’s name with disappointment, in anger.
“Do you even remember what you said when we made the beasts? They are not meant to be eaten. You made that promise to all of the witches, and now you’re going back on your word.”
Arlene felt a wave of guilt washing over her, feeling the pang in her heart. The fact that she would utter those words made a somber expression land on her face. She only said it so you wouldn’t feel like this anymore, you weren’t meant to be made, right?
But why was that the only solution that was made in her mind?
How would the other beasts feel if their companion was eaten?
How would the citizens of Earthbread react when one of the beast cookies goes missing?
Her thoughts were broken as Elvira emitted a dry chuckle. “I can’t even look at you right now… You, the head witch, suggested eating them, while they’re like this?” her voice was low, nearly raspy. Emitting a sigh, she trudged her way towards the door, shoulders nearly touching.
Arlene heard the wooden door open, but she could still feel her presence. “What virtue did you even give them…?” The main witch didn’t know whether to tell her or not, but she knew that it was best to tell her.
“I gave them Salvation. I wanted them to see if they could find a purpose for themselves, a feeling of being saved by others and placing those who helped them in protection.” she informed with a gentle tone.
Elvira took in her words, slightly clutching the door handle before walking away, leaving Arlene alone in the dim-litted room as she closed the door. She stood there for a few moments, so many things ran through her mind.
A wave of exhaustion was mixed in with guilt, mindlessly playing with the hem of her clothing. ‘I should get some rest. If I continue to think, I’ll practically burn myself out’ slowly exhaling, she lets out a long breath before facing the door.
‘I’ll go tell the beasts the news tomorrow…’
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
The next day slowly arrived, the sound of the monitors beeping was present in the silent hut. The witches were either getting up for today, or they’re already out of their huts, regrouping with the others.
Sympathetic expressions were present on their faces, glancing towards the beast that was still in the tiny bed. “Do you think they’ll recover fully?” one witch uttered in a whisper, earning a shrug from a witch that sat next to her.
“Physically, yeah. But mentally? I honestly doubt it. Imagine nearly dying because you received your soul jam.” the other replied, walking into the main witch's hut. As everyone regrouped, Arlene can be seen standing next to Elvira, guessing that they were waiting for them.
The atmosphere was cold, tense. The witches nervously glanced at each other, knowing that something was wrong if they had an early morning meeting. When the last witch entered the hut, she closed the door, the sound of the door clicking was the only thing heard.
The main witch’s gaze was pointed to the ground while the black-haired witch next to her was glancing at the other witch’s, as if she was making sure everyone was here. Arlene took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, her gaze slowly lifted.
“I’m sure that you all, or most of you, probably know what happened yesterday, correct?” she uttered, her voice was gentle, yet held exhaustion. It seemed like she didn’t get any sleep last night.
Most of the witches nodded, some of them whispered to one another about the situation that happened. “As you may have heard, [Name], or Lost Crumb Cookie, has received their soul jam yesterday. But I’ve made a mistake that caused them to be in this predicament.”
They glanced towards you, still resting on the small bed that was near their quarters. The breathing mask was off your face, your expression was relaxed, or some would say blank. The thin tubes that the jam was there anymore, guessing that the main witch took the needle out as well.
A clean bandage was wrapped around your stomach region, seeing a faint shape of a star beneath it. The only wires that were on you were the ones that were placed on your vital points, even though you were a cookie.
“Right now, they’re resting.” the main witch uttered, getting their attention. “I’ve talked to Elvira early this morning before you all arrived. We plan to tell the other beasts on the situation, so I need you all to be respectful when they’re here.”
Everyone nodded at her words, their gaze following as the sound of a knock was heard from the front door. Arlene clutched the doorknob, as if she was hesitant to let them in. Slowly, the door opened, revealing the other beast cookies.
Before she could utter a word, Eternal Sugar and Shadow Milk immediately floated inside, their expressions held worry as they flew their way towards the small bed you were in. Their tense bodies slightly relaxed, seeing how you were still breathing.
‘Poor thing… They were just fine yesterday’ the pink cookie thought, playing a faint tune on her harp. The blue cookie glanced towards your face, noticing the faint dark circles under your closed eyes, his lips slowly turned to a frown.
Mystic Flour held her usual calm expression, but the way she frowned was most noticeable. Summoning a small cloud, it carried her to the small desk, getting a closer look at you. She glanced towards the witches, her expression slightly firmed.
With Burning Spice and Silent Salt, they trudged their way inside. The wild-haired cookie held a sharp, nearly dark expression on his face, jumping with great height to the table. The silent cookie on the other hand, they couldn't see their face, but they could tell that a cold aura had surrounded the knight as they jumped with great height as well.
The five beasts surrounded the bed, hearing the low beeps from the monsters that were a couple of steps away. Some of their expressions firmed, while the others slightly relaxed. The bandage that wrapped around your torso was on the indent of where your soul jam was supposed to be.
Burning Spice turned towards the main witch, his fists slowly clenched at his sides. “What happened?” he demanded, his voice was at a lower octave, his gaze never breaking away from hers.
“I was trying to give them their soul jam. The ingredients I used weren’t fresh, it was made from the leftover ingredients.” she stated, watching the red cookie’s eyes narrowed.
Eternal Sugar gently soothed her hand on your arm, feeling the coolness on your dough. “How long were they like this?” she inquired lightly, her gaze never moved away from your unconscious body.
Arlene explained that it’s been half a day nearly, stating that she gave it to you when you got back from meeting everyone. Suddenly, your soul jam faintly glowed under the bandage, watching their soul jams glow faintly as well.
Silent Salt faced the main witch, signing. “What ingredients did you use to make their soul jam?”
The beasts watched her body movement, her shoulder tensed under her cloak, noticing the hesitant expression on her face. “I… I just used the leftover batter that was mixed with yours. I just mixed them up and made them a soul jam…”
As they took in the information, it seems like your soul jam is somewhat connected to theirs. When yours glowed, they glowed a few seconds after. “What’s their virtue?” Mystic Flour questioned with a low yet polite tone, side-eyeing the two witches.
Arlene explained that you held the virtue of salvation, watching the beast cookies slightly relax. It was a perfect virtue for you, reminding them about how you talked to them yesterday about how you were created.
Shadow Milk was the only beast that hasn’t said anything, but his body language can be seen as if someone he knew for a long time was hurt. ‘I hope they’ll wake up within a short time, they probably have a different perspective on everyone, especially our creators’
His thoughts were broken when a rapid beeping noise was emitted from the monitors, causing everyone to quickly turn towards it. A single second passed as the monitors reverted back to a slow, steady beeping noise. Did your heartbeat spike up that fast?
The beast cookies expressions slightly furrowed, their gaze slowly averting away from it before landing on you. They released out a breath that they didn’t know they were holding, watching your soul jam glow faintly as theirs glowed a few seconds later.
The witches watched in silence as they continued to watch over you, guessing that they’re probably not going to move until you wake up. They couldn’t help but faintly smile, watching the caring moment with the cookies.
Chapter 7: A/N
Chapter Text
Hey guys, how are you all doing today?
I'm making this author's note because I'm probably going to put this fic on slow updates or on hiatus. I know that the Silent Salt updates is literally in two-three days, but I really don't feel that excited about it.
I started playing the game about two years ago, then deleted it because it took up so much space in my phone. Then I downloaded the game again, which was around the Eternal Sugar update.
Don't get me wrong, I like the game. But with the cookies I have, I've done most of the content on there. I really wasn't in the fandom, and I didn't even know what Beast Cookies were. When I started to know more about the Beast Cookies, that's when I got the idea for this fic.
And since I'm working on other fics as well, I don't have time to make chapters for this fic.
I hope you guys understand this, and I'll see you guys later. :)
