Chapter 1: Vampires are surprisingly vocal
Chapter Text
It’s been two weeks since he’s talked about his new diet with the rest of Phantom Thieves and came to agreement that they would offer their blood to Akira if he couldn’t get his hands on enough.
So, there was Akira staring silently at his phone around noon when he knew his friends who were at school had their lunch break. It was the perfect time to message his friends, but was too anxious to even type out a message.
Morgana made an annoyed yowl-like sound as he glared at the vampire. “You know they’ll say ‘yes’ so why are you taking so long?”
Akira sighed and reclined in his chair. “I know…But, it’s the first time to ask them for blood. Hell, I don’t even want to think about putting my fangs on them.”
The not-cat jumped on top of the desk Akira was at and continued to glare. “I know, but you’ll have to get used to the idea.”
The vampire sat up to stare at Morgana. “I can just wait for Takemi to get more blood in.”
“And who knows when enough will be in?”
“I can wait a bit longer…”
Morgana turned his gaze from Akira to his phone. “I’ll just message them if you don’t. Or, I’ll get Futaba to-”
“Fine, fine, fine. I’ll do it.” Akira grumbled as he turned his attention back to his phone.
Morgana’s tail raised proudly as he scampered over to the vampire’s bed to—most likely—nap. The vampire hesitantly texted a message to the Thieves’ group chat.
Joker: Hey so
Joker: Takemi just let me know that she won’t get enough blood for me in time
Skull: oh shit
Skull: you can feed off me if you need to
Panther: Same here!
Noir: I can donate some as well!!
Oracle: i can donate and im only a few rooms away :)
Joker: No
Joker: You know you’re banned from donating
Oracle: dammit ( ≧Д≦)
Oracle: i just want to know what a vampire bite is like (¬з¬)
Queen: Futaba, you know you’re not allowed to donate.
Oracle: ofc you come in to lecture about health (-_-)
Queen: It is obvious why I need to do so.
Fox: My apologies. I do not think I can make time in my schedule today for feeding you, Akira. However, I am very willing to be the next one to donate blood to yours.
Oracle: always inari to mess it up (¬^¬)
Fox: It is not my choice. If I could simply move my project deadline till next week, I would.
Queen: I think that this worked out for the best. Yusuke, you did mention you were lacking in sleep and haven’t been eating nearly enough. I do not want to imagine the consequences if Akira drank from you.
Noir: Oh, Yusuke! I can offer you my new vegetables that should be picked by the end of school. And if that’s not enough, I’ll order you some food.
Oracle replying to Queen:
health nerd
Noir: I’m sorry Akira, but I will be with Yusuke for the day. But, on Saturday I can take you to that cat café you’ve been talking to me about. And don’t worry it will stay open long enough for us!! ❤️
Joker: You don’t have to Haru, but it sounds nice.
Fox: I have not even agreed to this arrangement, Haru.
Noir: You are getting my love, Yusuke! ❤️
Fox: Very well, then.
Panther: Finally the fancy people can hang out
Oracle: isnt inari a broke ass
Panther: But I get like a fancy vibe from him
Queen: I think the word you are looking for is ‘regal’ or ‘sophisticated’.
Oracle: dictionary queen
Skull: shes gonna give us the definition next
Queen: Be quiet.
Skull: sorry queen
Joker: Hot
Oracle: keep it in your pants kira
Queen: Back on track. We need to figure out who is gonna feed Akira. I will if he is fine with it.
Noir: Oh, don’t you have that council meeting later today?
Queen: That slipped my mind, Haru. Thank you.
Noir: Always a pleasure, darling.
Oracle: that leaves it to the blondies
Panther: I’ll do it!
Skull: i can do it
Panther: I will do it Ryuji. I said it first!
Skull: hell no
Skull: i replied to kira first
Joker: Let's just do a coin flip
Oracle: ill pull up the google one
Skull: i got heads
Panther: ill be tails then
Oracle: skull go be the blood sacrifice today
Skull: HELL YEAH
Panther: damn
Skull: ill be there at six kira
Joker: Sounds good
Ryuji knocked at the door of Sojiro’s—well now Akira’s too—house. He started to tap the floor to release the nervous energy. Though he would never admit it, he was quite afraid of the process of being bitten by Akira. Don’t get Ryuji wrong, he would never be afraid of Akira, he is just afraid of the pain and side effects. Hell, no one knows if just a bite can turn someone into a vampire as well. Though he tried to ignore Akira’s vampire traits, he did not want to be a vampire.
What will happen if Akira does actually turn Ryuji? Oh if he even does more harm than intended, Akira would feel guilty forever . Ryuji shook his head. He can’t think like this. He had never been this effin’ worried. But what if -
The door opened and Ryuji saw Akira cowering behind the door. Ryuji was confused and opened his mouth to ask, but then remembered that the sun was. The sun hadn’t set fully and a silm yellow line was visible. Of course he was hiding. The sun can kill him in seconds.
Ryuji felt so dumb coming this earlier.
“Uh, my bad ‘Kira for this being a bit too early.” Ryuji smiled awkwardly.
The vampire continued to use the door as a shield as he replied. “It’s fine. Just—uh.” Akira opened the door fully and hid behind as it turned inwards. “Come in.”
Ryuji walked in and followed Akira after the blond shut the front door. As they passed by the kitchen, something bright orange caught his eyes.
Futaba was still in her pajamas as she was messing with a 3DS by the microwave. When Futaba noticed they were passing by, she laughed and called out.
“You two go have fun!” She said cheerfully. “Ryuji tell me what it was like too!”
Ryuji chuckled and nodded then continued to follow Akira. The vampire led him to a room on the bottom floor and on a piece of paper that was taped to Akira’s door read, “Warning! Fluffy Vampire Ahead”.
Ryuji turned to Akira, “Futaba?”
“Futaba.” Akira confirmed as he opened the door.
Akira’s new room was different from the attic, but still had the vibe that screamed ‘Akira’. All the blinds were shut tightly with black cloth hanging over them to be sure no sunlight could reach the vampire. The floor was wooden, looked fairly new and part of it was covered by a Phantom Thief rug. There was also a Phantom Thief banner above his bed. Speaking of the bed, Akira actually had a bed now, but it was currently occupied by a half asleep and grumpy Morgana who glared at Ryuji. There was also a desk in a corner of the room which had homework and broken lock picks on top of it. Even though the room had only been occupied by Akira for a few weeks, it already smelled like coffee beans.
The not-cat stretched very cat-like for someone who claimed to not be a cat, and padded lazily out the room.
“Uh,” Akira began awkwardly. “We can just do it on the bed.”
“Sounds good.” Ryuji laughed nervously.
As both boys got comfortable on the, Akira turned to Ryuji.
“You want neck or wrist?”
“Huh?”
“Do you want me to bite your neck or wrist?” Akira clarified.
Oh. Ryuji felt dumb. “Which is better for you?”
“I’ve only ever seen vampires biting on a neck,” Akira rubbed the back of his neck. “So, is neck fine?”
Ryuji nodded. “That’s cool.”
The vampire shuffled behind Ryuji and angled his legs around the faux blond and leaned forward to glance at Ryuji’s neck.
“Just tell me if it’s too painful and you need me to stop.” Akira then hesitated. “If I don’t respond or stop, just shove me away and do whatever you can to not get hurt.”
“I won’t need to.” Ryuji responded. “I trust you ‘Kira.”
Akira smiled warmly, fangs showing. Ryuji turned his gaze to the wall in front of him to give Akira more access.
The vampire opened his mouth and lightly put his fangs on Ryuji’s neck. He gently nipped around the neck as if Akira was looking for a specific spot then the fangs’ light pressure was gone. Ryuji then felt sharp pain in his neck like he was getting stabbed, but after a second his neck became numb. The blond flinched which Akira noticed and stopped his feeding for a second and waited; when a call from Ryuji wasn’t heard, he then continued.
It was a weird sensation to feel his blood being sucked without any pain. Soon the sensation faded and he felt something wet glide across his neck in gentle strokes then something nuzzling his neck.
Ryuji, dazed, reaches over to Akira to put his hand on the black-haired boy’s hair to play with it. Ryuji knew—despite the denial from Akira—that he enjoyed having his hair played up. What he didn’t know is that vampires apparently can make other sounds that hissing.
There’s a rumbling sensation coming from Akira’s neck accompanied with a soft rumbling sound. Akira—a man who faced death almost daily and was a vampire—was purring.
The best part was that even though enough time passed for Ryuji to gain all of his bearings back from the feeding, Akira was still nuzzling his neck and purring. The blond smirked and saw that the raven started purring louder when Ryuji moved to the center of Akira’s head.
Careful to not disturb the vampire, Ryuji got out his phone to try to subtly record him without the raven noticing.
After he recorded the purring and nuzzling Akira was doing, he sent the video to the rest of the Phantom Thieves.
Skull sent an video: akira183.mp4
Skull: dangerous vampire my ass
Oracle: !!!
Oracle: fluffy vamp cat ʚ(꒦ິ ꒳꒦ີ )ɞ♡
Panther: he looks so relaxed and happy!!
Fox: Ryuji, do you mind if I use this video for a reference on a piece? It is quite hard to find such relaxation in a person today, but Akira has filled that void.
Skull: yea man do whatever
Fox: My sincere thanks. I would treat you to a meal, but I am short on money again.
Noir: Done!
Fox: Haru, I thank you for the money.
Noir: You’re welcome!
Noir: Oh! Akira-kun looks so adorable! How did you get him so relaxed, Ryuji-kun?
Skull: dunno
Skull: i just let him drink from me then he started to get real touchy so i started playing with his hair
Oracle: so to have a purring akira we just need blood n pets
Oracle: he is just a vampire cat
Oracle: !!
Oracle i wonder if he can turn into a bat like some can in stories…
Panther: I don’t think he could seems kinda farfetched
Oracle: but vampires aren’t supposed to be real
Panther: true..
Queen: That is adorable. I didn’t know vampires could be vocal.
Oracle: make him do more sounds
Oracle: im coming in 人( ๑`⩊´๑)ᵐʷᵉʰᵉʰᵉʰᵉ
Panther: dont disturb him!!!
Oracle: you cant stop the mighty oracle!!!
Ψ(`▽´)Ψ
Oracle: mweheheheh
Ryuji looked up from his phone as Futaba entered the room loudly. The sound must’ve startled Akira as he jolted up and stopped his affection. His face had confusion all over it and he blinked at Futaba, heavily confused. But, realization was shown on his face with an embarrassed blush overtaking his face as he realized how affectionate he had got.
“Aww,” Futaba whined at the lack of purring. “I missed the purrs…”
“Maybe the blood isn’t necessary…” Ryuji trailed off mischievously as he continued the petting.
“Wha—what? Hold on this is—” Akira interrupted himself as a purr cut him off. “This is so embarrassing.” He stuttered through the purring.
Futaba giggled and pulled out her phone to most likely record. “It’s so cute that I don’t know if I should use it for blackmail or just to keep for myself.”
“Don’t the rest of the others know ‘bout him purring?” Ryuji asked.
“I still have Sojiro and I can just keep this for myself if I don’t show him.” She shrugged.
“My pride is absolutely in shambles…” Akira mumbled after a few seconds of silence besides the purring.
“You’re not that upset.” Futaba replied cheekily. “Your purrs tell the truth~”
“Wish my head was on that table in the interrogation room.”
That got a smack from Futaba and a Ryuji who was lecturing Akira on his worth.
Joker: I guess I’m never going to recover my cool image right?
Oracle: nope!
Panther: sorry Akira 🫶
Skull: hell no
Fox: It does make me think of you in a different way. I previously thought of you as mysterious and theatrical. But now a sense of adoration and softness.
Queen: I’m sorry. It does make me think of you as cuter now.
Noir: Oh! You were so cute though Akira.
Oracle: youre just our little meow meow
Joker: I’m going to kill you
Oracle: ryuji carry on my legacy (`Д´)ゞ
Joker: You’re next Ryuji
Skull: but dont you kinda love me???
Joker: Yusuke is my favorite now
Joker: Ryuji? Don’t know him
Oracle: !!
Oracle: if you kill me i might became a vampire 𓁹‿𓁹
Joker: what the fuck is that face
Panther: please don’t make her a vampire kira
Panther: she would even more of a gremlin😣
Joker: Shit you’re right
Oracle: 凸( •̀_•́ )凸
Joker: Yusuke you’re still my favorite now.
Fox: I am honored to be your favorite now. I will not take this honor lightly.
Joker: It’s not that late yet. Let’s go out to that expensive sushi place together.
Oracle: FUCK YOU
Skull: 💔
Panther: i haven’t done anything and still left out💔💔💔
Noir: There, there, everyone.
Queen: We can all just go out for dinner together tomorrow.
Queen: No one left out. Got it.
Joker: Yes ma’am.
Oracle: gonna steal all your blood when you get them again

Chapter Text
After being cooped up in his room, Akira asked Futaba to close the blinds in the kitchen to make some coffee. Even though he didn’t eat anymore—too much to stomach in his vampire body—he still drank coffee. Morgana followed him out of his room demanding food, as usual for the demanding not-cat. Futaba decided to warm up leftovers for Morgana while Akira made coffee for himself and her.
They all sat in comfortable silence at the kitchen table, the hacker on her phone doing who knows what, Morgana eating on the table, and Akira drinking his coffee. Until frantic knocking on the front door was heard.
Futaba groaned. “Mona, get the door.”
The not cat paused his eating and swallowed. “I can’t! I’m too short to open the door.” When she opened her mouth, Morgana continued in annoyance. “He can’t either, the sun is out.”
She sighed and walked dramatically all the way to the door.
Despite being a fair distance away and walls in the way, Akira could still faintly hear the conversation going on at the front door.
“Uh, what—” Futaba’s voice was cut off by a frantic voice.
“Sakura-san! Is Kurusu-senpai okay? I saw the news a few days ago and I was too worried to text him and I couldn’t come here sooner because of my practice and—” Seems it is Kasumi and her frantic ramblings were cut off by the other girl.
“Uh, um. Yeah Akira’s fine now…” Futaba interrupted awkwardly. “He’s here now; in the kitchen if you want to see him.”
“Is that okay, Sakura-san?” Kasumi asked anxiously.
“Yep! Um and you can stop addressing me formally,” Akira heard the door shut. “Futaba is fine. W-we’re the same age so it’s fine….”
“Oh, I’m sorry…Futaba…” She mumbled.
Akira stood up as the two girls entered the kitchen. He could see the faint blush in Futaba’s face but before he could say anything, Kasumi appeared in front of him.
“Kurusu-senpai! Is it really you?”
He laughed softly. “As real as it can get.”
“Oh I was so worried! I thought you died. But you’re not and I’m so glad.” She smiled in joy.
Morgana smiled as best as he could in his cat form. “I may have told Lady Ann to tell Yoshizawa-san to come here instead of LeBlanc. Just wanted to make sure all our allies know you’re safe.”
“And you didn’t tell me!?” Futaba whispered loudly in the not-cat’s ear. “You know I have people anxiety! It took so much courage to even go up to that door!”
Kasumi then turned to Futaba and bowed. “I’m so sorry Futaba! If I would’ve known I would have been less frantic.”
Futaba's face went red. “I-It’s fi-fine! You didn’t know.”
Akira spoke up to avoid Futaba’s embarrassment to heighten. “Kasumi, why don’t you sit down while I make you a coffee?”
She smiled. “I would appreciate that.”
Akira laid the homemade coffee infront of Kasumi as she and Futaba talked. He just smiled, not wanting to interrupt Futaba’s rare social interaction.
“Wow, Futaba! I didn’t know it was you who got rid of Medjed.” Kasumi spoke in wonder.
The hacker laughed sheepishly. “Um, yeah..! It did take me a while though.”
Morgana spoke up. “Only two hours!”
The gymnast’s eyes sparkled. “That is still very impressive.”
“I mean it was like, super easy to hack into their systems.” The hacker continued. “It’s kinda stupid how they thought they couldn’t get past the great Alibaba!”
“Alibaba?”
“Oh, um…That’s kinda my online hacker name. I know it’s super weird, but I thought it’s cool…”
The gymnasts smiled more. “I think it is cool.”
“Really? Uh, thanks!”
After a second in silence, Morgana filled it up swiftly.
“I do want to ask you something, Yoshizawa-san. How did you get into the palace?”
That got Kasumi’s face filled with shame.
“I want to know as well. We need to change our infiltrations if our plan leaked somehow.” The black haired spoke up.
“Senpai, I’m sorry.” Kasumi stood up and bowed deeply. “I was actually following you the whole time.”
“You tailed us the whole time?!” Futaba asked in shock.
“I’m actually kinda impressed…” Akira murmured.
“I decided to follow you after you couldn’t train with me and I saw you enter that palace…” She trailed off, looking at the ground.
“It’s fine. I’m grateful you were there to save our leader.” Futaba replied.
Morgana did a laugh that awfully sounded like a meow. “Maybe Makoto could learn something!”
Akira just laughed at Morgana. But, he stopped when he saw Kasumi flinch and look at his face.
As she sat down again, she asked her senpai. “Um, Kurusu-senpai, were your teeth always this sharp?”
Everyone in the room just stood in silence, awkwardly. Akira just kept staring anxiously at the floor.
Morgana thankfully filled in the silence as he always does. “There’s no point in hiding it from her. Might as well tell her.”
“Is that alright for you ‘Kira?” Futaba asked.
The vampire sighed and nodded. “Yeah. We should tell her.”
“Kurusu-senpai?” The gymnast asked in confusion.
“Kasumi, after escaping the police, Shido Masayoshi figured out I escaped somehow and sent his men to track me down.
“He had someone acting as an officer to check my bag after we visited his palace. That officer took me aside and…” Akira gripped his pants in remembrance of the other officer attacking him. “He was a vampire and attacked me.”
“Kurusu-senpai!? Are you alright now?”
The not-cat huffed. “As okay as he can be right now.” Morgana responded in a rare tone of sympathy.
Futaba turned away as Akira continued. “He probably tried to kill me, but I turned into a vampire instead.”
Kasumi didn’t seem to be afraid at all, instead more worried. “Oh, Kurusu-senpai, are you sure you’re okay? Is there anything I can do?”
Akira smiled, not hiding his fangs. “I’m okay now. I don’t think you can cure vampirism, so I’m good.” He laughed but no one else laughed.
Futaba didn’t even look at him and just continued to stare at the wall. Morgana just stared at him in pity. And Kasumi looked distraught.
“There has to be a way!” Kasumi argued. “Let me help you find a cure! And if it’s alright let me join the Phantom Thieves.”
“Yoshizawa,” Morgana started. “We are up against someone who is on a different level. I don’t think it’s the best idea for you to join now…”
“But, didn’t all of us start out as noobs?” Futaba argued.
“True…” Morgana replied. “But, Shido is on a different level!”
Akira cleared his voice. “Let her join, Mona. She will pick infiltrating up quickly. She’s basically made for this with her gymnastics.”
“That’s true.” The not-cat’s head tilted. “Well then you have my vote. We need to have a vote, but I’m pretty sure the rest of us will agree.”
“I’ll set up a poll in the group chat!” Futaba said as she brought her phone close to her face.
Kasumi bowed again. “Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to not bring anyone down.”
Akira held out his hand. “Welcome to the Phantom Thieves, probably.”
The gymnast accepted and smiled brightly.
Oracle: guys we gotta have a vote!!
Oracle: yoshizawa kasumi wants to help us out after learning of our pet vampire

Queen: Just message however you feel comfortable, Kasumi-chan.
Yoshizawa Kasumi: Thank you, Niijima-senpai!
Oracle: sooooo is it codename time???
Joker: We never assign codenames over text Futaba. We are going into Shido’s palace tomorrow too
Oracle: i knowwwww
Fox: I assume you know our leader’s true nature, Kasumi?
Yoshizawa Kasumi: Oh, yes! I am aware of Kurusu-senpai being a vampire.
Joker: Still can’t be believe vampires are real even though I’m vampire
Yoshizawa Kasumi: To be honest, I didn’t think they existed either.
Queen: I don’t think nobody here believed in them.
Noir: I definitely didn’t. It does remind me of those old vampire books I used to read when I was younger though…
Panther: It is interesting to see what vampire traits are real or not
Skull: think hes immortal
Oracle: lets lest it out ヾ(๑•◡•)ノ🔪
Queen: No!
The Phantom Thieves all met up at the Diet Building as soon as the sun went down. Akira and Futaba were the first ones there with Kasumi arriving soon after. And slowly, the rest of the thieves arrived too.
“Hey, Kasumi!” Ryuji waved to the redhead. “Welcome!”
Yusuke walked next to the faux blond while eating out of a bag of chips. “Welcome to our team. I am pleased to have you here.”
Ann ran over with Makoto and Haru’s hands in her hold. The brown haired girl’s face was red with embarrassment, but kept a smile on.
“Hello, Kasumi-chan.” Haru said to the gymnast.
After a few welcomes, a certain orange haired girl got impatient.
“‘Kira, can we go to the palace so we can figure out Kasumi’s code name. I also wanna see her outfit!” Futaba asked.
“No use of wasting sunli— moonlight .” Akira said as he fired up the Metaverse Navigator.
The world around the group is distorted with a flurry of reds. To someone new like Kasumi who was not quite used to it yet, it felt dizzying. Soon, the world came back without distortion, but the group was now on a cruise ship floating in an ocean with buildings jutting out of the ocean.
“I…I don’t think I’ll get used to the feeling.” Kasumi dizzily said.
“Don’t worry!” Futaba chirped in her Metaverse outfit. “The feeling gets more muted as you use the Nav more often. Like for me, when I go into the Metaverse it’s like… BOOM! And now I’m here.”
“Kasumi! Your outfit looks just like Joker’s!” Ann squealed walking over to the gymnast. “Even the gloves and coat.”
“It does look like a more athletic version of his outfit.” Haru agreed.
Morgana padded over smugly. “Well, there might be a reason for that since Yoshizawa-san first saw Joker’s outfit when he was trying to save her and that she might just see him as a rebel!”
“Oh.” The redhead blushed and looked away. “I can’t believe Shido’s heart is like this. I know he’s a horrible person but…” Kasumi quickly changed the subject.
“Sicking, ain’t it?” Ryuji glared at the buildings in the ocean.
“Truly a horrendous perspective on others.” Yusuke muttered. “Thankfully, your outfit, Kasumi-san, sparks me with inspiration.”
The blush of Kasumi only reddened in embarrassment. “Thank you, Kitagawa-senpai.”
“I suppose it’s time for the codename?” Makoto asked.
“One point for Queen!” Futaba cheered.
“What about Vamp? Since she has a similar outfit as Joker and he’s a vampire…?” Ryuji’s suggestion trailed off awkwardly at the looks he received.
“It would make more sense for it to be Joker’s code name.” Yusuke replied.
“And I’m not going to be called that anyway.” Joker added.
Morgana nodded proudly. “As you should! We don’t want the world to know you're a vampire.”
Makoto had a better suggestion. “What about Mist? Kasumi does mean mist.”
“But doesn’t it also mean flower?” Haru asked, bias for her gardening kicking in.
Ann looked closely at Kasumi’s outfit. “She does have a flower on her hips. But doesn’t it sound boring, Kasumi?”
“Oh, uh.” Kasumi stuttered, caught off guard. “It does seem quite simple…”
“What about Blossom then?” Joker suggested.
“Oh, Joker-senpai! I really like that! Thank you for your suggestion.” Kasumi bowed.
“Welcome then, Blossom.” Joker welcomed once again, fangs not hiding with his wide smile.
Kasumi blushed and gave a wide smile in return.
Notes:
•Writing Sumire as Kasumi made me feel so uncomfortable…. But I had to to make the timeline remain mostly the same ToT
•I did change up who told Kasumi about the meeting as I felt Mona would tell his Lady Ann first
•Sorry this chapter ended up being way shorter than intended— I just need to work on adding more fluff and not feel as rushed
•I plan on updating every two weeks now or after May since that’s when school will end
•Please give any criticism! I am open!
•I have a tumblr page: The Tomb of Alibaba: https://www. /the-tomb-of-alibaba
which I will be posting the world building around this AU and other Persona Aus. Questions will be answered!
•Next chapter will be about how Akira became a vampire and it is already looking to be pretty long👀
Chapter 3: Fledgling
Summary:
The last thing he heard before falling unconscious was the most haunting and unforgettable sound that he had ever heard.
“AKIRA!!!” Futaba had screamed—no screeched—for him in desperation and fear and he couldn’t reassure his found sister as the pain took him over.
Notes:
Hi!! This is basically how Akira became a vampire and takes place right before my first work in my AU :))
I have to apologize for how the timeline is inconsistent compared to my other chapters in this work this is because this is actually the first thing I’ve ever wrote for this AU and just finished it!!!!Warning!!! This chapter is more graphic than any of my other chapters as it describes a vampire attack
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“I can’t believe that asshole thinks he is so great and the rest of Japan can effin’ drown.” Ryuji scowled. “A cruise ship on top of drowning people is his freakin’ palace.”
“It is quite shameful of him.” Yusuke added.
Makoto sighed in anger. “It’s worse than that.”
“I was talking about the design of the ship, but that also applies.”
The Phantom Thieves were standing outside the Diet Building and had just returned from their first view of Shido’s palace. Akira kept thinking how sick it is to not care about millions dying for the sake of power. But, Shido’s heart would eventually change after a few more infiltrations and he would confess all of his sins—hopefully about the lie about Akira’s assault record too.
“He will pay, though.” Ann said surely.
Ryuji used his bad leg to kick a rock. “Damn right he will, especially what they did to Akira.”
“And for what he did to my father.” Haru added.
“Mom too.” Futaba looked down and Akira gently grabbed her shoulders to pull her into a gentle embrace.
“Ack!” Morgana yelled from being squished in between Akira and Futaba.
The two teens made way for the not-cat but kept their hug intact. Morgana poked his head out of the bag with a displeased meow.
“What is the day that works best for the next infiltration for everyone?” Akira asked his fellow Thieves.
Ann hummed to herself. “I can do it tomorrow, but I have back-to-back modeling for the three days after tomorrow.”
“Any day works for me.” Ryuji responded too and the rest of the Phantom Thieves agreed to work on Shido’s palace tomorrow then take a short break for a few days.
As they were about to split up for the night, a police officer came over to the teenagers. Akira started to slightly shuffle away from the officer as the rest of the thieves—minus Futaba who still hung onto Akira—crowded around the boy in a way to slightly protect him. After what the police did to Akira, their already low faith in the police dropped lower than what seemed possible.
“Excuse me,” The police officer started in a rough voice that reminded Akira of the officers that abused him. Fate seemed to hate him though, as the officer turned to the black-haired boy. “I need to search your bag, young man. Since the election is near, we’ve decided to increase security.”
The Phantom Thieves looked at each other, none were shocked but they didn’t quite have a plan on what to do if a person searched them. Not to mention Akira was legally dead and needs to keep his identity hidden.
As several of the teens opened their mouths, Akira beat them to it. “That’s fine. I do have my cat in here though, so I don’t know how much searching will be done with him.”
The officer huffed. “I’ll just work around him.”
Akira started to open his bag but the officer stopped him with a scoff.
“Hold on,” The police officer gestured to a nearby alleyway which had a man next to it. “I’ll need to search you over there.”
“Hell no!” Ryuji immediately responded. “He ain’t gonna follow you into a sketchy-ass alleyway.”
Ann started to back Ryuji up but the officer interrupted the blonds.
“That’s fine if you don’t want us to search here, but if you don’t comply we’re taking you to the station where your guardians would come.”
The teens looked over anxiously to Akira to see what he would decide. Makoto subtly nodded for him to go along for now.
Akira sighed and agreed to be searched. The officer led him deep into the alleyway with the other man following him. The police officer must’ve seen the confusion on his face with the other man and clarified that he was an undercover cop. The man who was supposedly undercover, smiled at him behind sunglasses and that’s when Akira realized two things were wrong with that cop.
One, the cop was wearing sunglasses at dusk. And two, he had four, long, sharp canines; two on top and two on bottom. They seemed to constantly click together and made soft hissing noises.
Morgana started to glare at that same suspicious cop. “He’s giving me a bad vibe. Be on guard.”
Akira was handing over his school bag but the undercover cop reached out with one hand to cover his mouth and the other to push him against the wall. He dropped his bag in shock and the not-cat made a pained noise.
“Akira!” Morgana yowled in panic.
Akira started struggling: shaking, kicking, punching, but the cop holding him seemed to not be affected in the slightest. The man used his hand to prevent any noise Akira may make by covering both his mouth and nose. He couldn’t breathe with the massive hand on his face. The hand covered his mouth with so much pressure it felt like his jaw would cave into his mouth.
The boy glanced at the not-cat that fell for help, but Morgana was still regaining his bearings slowly. The not-cat continued to groan from pain and dizziness.
“Hurry this up,” The first officer grumbled. “I don’t have time for you to play with your food.”
The man holding him hissed— hissed like an animal—and moved forward over Akira. Morgana seemed to find himself and immediately attacked the man. However, due to Morgana’s cat body, he easily got kicked away. The not-cat paused for a second, analyzing his enemies before clumsily scampering out of the alleyway. Akira did not even think for a second that the not-cat was running away from him, he knew he was getting help. But, he only hoped it would come soon.
The hissing man motioned for the other cop to hold Akira while he still kept his hand on Akira but used his other hand to move the boy's head to the right. Then the man opened his mouth to show his fangs and that’s when Akira realized it.
This man was a fucking vampire .
Akira did the best he could to escape, struggling more than he ever has. His body went into survival mode, not caring about the great pressure that was forcing him against the wall and desperately tried to use his luck to escape the vampire and police officer. He knew this man was going to bite him. Panic started to grow in the boy as the fangs slowly closed in and he started to breath as heavily as he could through the hand covering his mouth. The slowness of the bite coming for him was excruciating, though that thought was gone when the bite came.
The pain couldn’t ever be described properly. It was painful, disturbing, agonizing, excruciating. Though those words did not do the pain justice. It was worse than the pain he’s ever endured in the Metaverse, worse than his Persona awakening, worse than the beatings he has endured by the same force that was attacking him. Akira screamed loudly and still could clearly be heard despite the hand on his mouth. He tried struggling but that only made the pain worse as the originally clean bite became sloppy and Akira could hear the sound of his flesh ripping. The ripping of the flesh of his neck and shoulder had both horrible pain and a disturbing noise. The pain of his blood being drained was traumatic, but it was made worse when he could see the sloppy bite leaking blood onto him. The blood wasn’t slowly spilling out, it was gushing out. This cop— vampire— was going to kill him. No matter if someone came to help him, he was losing too much blood. But, he had to live.
“Shit! We got those kids coming this way!”
The vampire feeding on him paused, then bit harder for a few seconds then let him go. Though the harder pressure only lasted for seconds, it quickly made the pain move from his neck and shoulders to his entire body. Akira felt the pain climax in what could only be described as if his body was being disintegrated by acid.
The vampire dropped Akira to the ground and he and the other cop ran further into the dark alleyway and faded to darkness. The boy couldn’t feel the ground anymore. The pain was still throbbing throughout his body. The pain alone made his eyelids feel heavy, his chest feel heavy, his whole entire body felt heavy. It was painful to even breathe through his mouth. Did the vampire tear his throat out? No, he thinks. There was nothing ripped out by the vampire, just a sharp, hard bite. He heard footsteps approaching and painfully turned his gaze towards the sound to see his friends running towards him and screaming. Akira in turn, glanced at the blood surrounding his neck. It was too much blood.
Though Akira fought to stay awake to assure them, his body refused to cooperate. His body made him feel like he was carrying the world on his shoulders. Akira thought of the fact that dead bodies are often seen as heavier and he could now understand it. It was like he was carrying a dead body, but that body was himself. The weight became too much as the world faded to darkness but was still barely aware.The last thing he heard before falling unconscious was the most haunting and unforgettable sound that he had ever heard.
“AKIRA!!!” Futaba had screamed—no screeched —for him in desperation and fear and he couldn’t reassure his found sister as the pain took him over.
~~~
Futaba stared at the alleyway even though it was all darkness to her, but she wanted to be the first to rush to Akira when he came. Like, she should obviously be the one who should greet him first. She’s basically his little sister who are both Phantom Thieves that fight justice! It honestly reminds her of Featherman. But she suppose she should not think of Featherman in serious moments. It’s just a comfort thing! Though she was thinking of Featherman while her brother was in danger of being found.
“What are we going to do if they take Akira in?” Haru interrupted the silence that had been sitting between the Phantom Thieves ever since Akira left.
“I…I don’t know.” Makoto replied. “I guess we would get my sister to try to get him out. But, I don’t know if she’ll get him out in time so if worse comes to worse…”
“We would have to finish the palace without Akira.” Yusuke finished.
Ryuji huffed. “I effin’ hate the cops. Thinking they can do whatever the hell they want…”
Everyone turned their heads over to Makoto who was staring at Ryuji. The faux blond realized his mistake.
“Oh! Eh-My bad Makoto…!” Ryuji apologized.
Makoto just smiled nervously. “It’s fine. I do actually agree that your statement is true at the moment. But, I hope I can change that eventually.”
Ryuji smiled. “I know you can fix it! You’re gonna be…like the… Police Queen!”
That got groans throughout the group.
Futaba booed Ryuji.
Ann groaned. “Never become a comedian, Ryuji.”
“Yeah!” Futaba agreed. “You have no joke points! Maybe you even have ‘em in the negatives…”
“H-hey!” Ryuji stuttered.
Before anyone could continue the conversation, a yowl was heard from the alleyway. Soon, the black and white not-cat from the dark alleyway came running in a panic.
Morgana was breathing heavily and shaking. “Akira is being attacked!”
“What?!” Ryuji screamed.
“Mona-chan!” Haru picked up Morgana as he was shaking. “What happened?”
“They’re holding Akira against the wall and—”
A muffled scream interrupted Morgana which made the whole group feel a chill down their spine. Morgana even reacted by his fur sticking out in fear.
No.
No. No. No.
Her heart dropped. Even though there were three people in that alleyway she knew it had to be Akira. The pain in that scream was haunting her as the scream just became even more painful. Futaba couldn’t lose anyone else! She already lost her mom and didn’t need to lose her brother too! Please! This world does not need to take anything else from her.
Please. I do not need anyone else taken from me. I don’t want to lose anyone else.
Mom, if you’re out there please help.
Please. Please. Please.
PleasePleasePleasePleasePlease-
She started running towards the alleyway to reach Akira, the rest of the Phantom Thieves followed her and overtook her due to their greater stamina. But, soon the adrenaline gave her more strength than she’s ever had and was now ahead of Ryuji now.
The scream somehow louder and more strained. Like someone was ripping out a throat.
There was the sound of footsteps running away from them and a thud! in front of her. The darkness of the alleyway faded from her vision as she saw the most horrific bloody thing she’s ever seen since her mom’s death.
Akira was unconscious on the ground a few feet ahead of Futaba. His glasses lay broken on the ground. The sight was as disturbing as her mother’s dead body. A side of his neck was just blood red and if she looked close enough she could see what was pass the blood. He had four slashes that started at his neck and ran to his shoulders. His neck was mangled. Was his throat torn out? There were also deep red bite marks that showed four fangs. And Futaba could only scream in horror.
“AKIRA!!!” She screamed in that same horror as she did when her mother died.
She ran over to Akira’s body as she heard the rest of the Phantom Thieves react.
“What the fuck .” Ryuji. He then ran over to Akira to shake him.
Ann’s breathing got faster and shocked sobs came out of her as she ran to Akira. Yusuke gasped and stared at Akira’s body in shock, not knowing what to do in shock. Makoto was frozen as well, but she started to mumble incoherently, seemingly trying to not have a panic attack like Ann was having. Haru didn’t make any panicked noises and just sobbed. Morgana was over Akira with Ryuji and Ann and was desperate and gently shaking, nuzzling, and meowing for him to get up.
~~~
Futaba was in Sojiro’s car’s front seat as they headed for Yongen-Jaya with Ann and Ryuji in the back seats with Akira. The time between finding Akira and getting in Sojiro’s car was a blur to her. All she can clearly remember is begging for Akira to wake up, calling Sojiro in a panic and having to give Yusuke the phone who was the least in shock, and the small squabble of which two Phantom Thieves would go with Akira in Sojiro’s car to the doctor in Yongen-Jaya.
In her lap, Morgana was shaking. Futaba started to stroke the not-cat in anxiety to calm herself and the not-cat. Akira was not unconscious anymore in the car, but wasn’t fully aware of his surroundings. Akira’s glasses were broken and left in the alleyway in a rush. He started to whimper in pain and curl into himself. Futaba had never seen Akira that vulnerable even when he was tortured by the police when he was caught.
Sojiro was on the phone with their local doctor since Akira supposedly told that doctor about him being a Phantom Thief. Her dad looked just as panicked as everyone else; talking quickly, constantly looking back at Akira, and had raised his voice in worry. Futaba knew he was trying to seem strong for everyone, but was panicking and scared about Akira.
The other Phantom Thieves were on the way to join them at the doctor’s in Haru’s private limousine she’d called for them. Makoto was the one who fought the most to join them, saying she couldn’t take it not being there for Akira after she had changed her life for the better. Yusuke had fought but not as hard as Makoto saying he just wanted to do whatever would be best for Akira even if that meant not being with him in his ride to the doctor’s. Haru was the one who fought the least, too upset to argue and just was worried about Akira. Futaba felt bad for Haru not coming with them since she seemed the most upset beside herself.
Ann and Ryuji had joined them after fighting tooth and nail to join Akira on the ride to the doctor’s. There was only enough room for two more people in Sojiro’s car and the blonds had argued that they had the rights to those seats since they knew Akira the longest. They were using Ann’s school jacket as bandages to put pressure on Akira’s neck wound to stop the blood that seemed not to stop pouring out. Ann was whispering to Akira telling him it’d be okay and that he can cry all he wants in pain and that no one would judge him. Ryuji was talking fast and somehow kept his voice so soft that Futaba had previously believed it wasn't possible for Ryuji.
“Akira. It’s fine,” Ann whispered to Akira as he yelped at a bump in the road. “We’re almost there. You’ll be fine.”
“She’s right, ‘Kira,” Ryuji spoke softly to him. “Just hold on a little longer and you’ll be just fine.”
Futaba herself was currently crying her eyes out and breathing heavily. She didn’t want to lose anyone else. She had already lost so much. She was also worried that she would be a shut-in again. But, Futaba desperately tried to shake those thoughts out, thinking that caring about Akira’s health was more important than her own woes. He was suffering worse than her, worse than anyone out of their group.
The car came to a stop and Sojiro put his phone away. “You two, help me carry him into Takemi’s office.”
Ann and Ryuji nodded immediately and opened their doors to gently pick up Akira. Ryuji, with help from Ann, put Akira carefully on his back with Ann holding the jacket against his neck and holding his hand to reassure him.
Futaba quickly got out of the car with Morgana to follow them into the doctor’s.
The doctor was that goth woman who Futaba had often seen Akira message and was a regular at LeBlanc. She was already outside the clinic and rushed to Akira and guided them to a room.
Futaba started to follow them into the room but Takemi looked at her and the blonds. “You kids can’t come in here right now. I know you’re worried about your friend, but I need to stay focused on him,” The doctor looked at Sojiro. “But, Boss, you can come in due to you being his guardian.”
Sojiro nodded, grabbed Akira from Ryuji, then walked into the room with the goth doctor and the door shut. Ryuji and Ann didn’t sit down in the waiting room and continued to stand outside the room. As much as Futaba wanted to stand, her energy was failing her and she had to take a seat closest to the door of the room with Morgana in her lap.
Yusuke, Makoto, and Haru arrived and sat down in seats. And after a few minutes of silence of waiting, Makoto spoke up.
“Morgana,” Makoto started shakily. “Do…I..I mean can you explain what happened?”
The not cat stared at the eyes that had turned to look at him and nodded and spoke with a heavy stutter. “T-The officer took me and him into that alleyway and man said he wa-was an under-undercovered cop. That c-cop then pushed Akira against the wall and then b-bit him with these fangs that were too sharp for a human. The-the other cop d-di-don’t even react! Then that one bi-biting him, bit harder and then left…”
The group went silent. Every one of them were thinking the same thing. But only one of them had the guts to voice it.
“D-do you guys think it was a vampire?” Ryuji asked.
“But…vampires don’t exist…” Makoto said.
“Then tell what the hell just happened to Akira!” Ryuji refuted harshly.
Makoto fell silent and looked at her feet.
“I think it was a vampire too…” Ann replied to Ryuji. “I know it’s stupid, but what the hell happened to him if it wasn’t one…”
Yusuke turned to Morgana. “Are you sure it bit him, Morgana?”
“Of course!” Morgana yowled. “How would I imagine that even if I saw it when running away?!”
Haru looked at the group, teary-eyed. “So, do we all agree it was a vampire?”
Every thief nodded slowly and was silent again for a few seconds until Makoto spoke with wide eyes.
“But, if that vampire bit Akira and vampires turn others into vampires with bites…” Makoto said slowly with wide eyes.
Futaba jolted up and saw that everyone else had wide eyes and realization on their faces.
“ Oh hell no.. .” Ryuji said.
Haru immediately spoke up. “Th-that may not be true… I have read that some vampires are turned by dr-drinking the blood of a vampire…But, I thought they were just fiction…”
Ann shook her head. “But how do we know which vampire rumors are true?!”
Morgana poked his head up. “What seems to be the most common things about vampires?”
“Are you talking about the cognition of vampires?” Ann questioned. “But how would—”
Morgana cut Ann off. “It probably has nothing to do with cognition. I asked for the most common vampire facts since the most common ones are more likely to be true since vampires actually do exist.”
Haru lit up a little. “Oh! Th-that’s very smart, Mona-chan.”
“Thanks, Haru. But what are the facts that everyone knows?”
Ann played with her hair. “They drink blood.”
“Can’t go out in sunlight.” Ryuji added.
“Uh, they’re undead people…” Makoto supplied.
“They are immortal and usually are much stronger than humans.” Yusuke listed.
“…They’re usually aggressive towards humans.” Haru softly added.
“Th-they turn people through bites with venom.” Futaba spoke for the first time in a while. But her tone shifted, she hated what she was going to say but it needed to be shared. “Th-that's ...That's probably what happened to ‘Kira…Mona did mention the vampire bit him harder for seconds then left…”
The room fell silent but Ryuji spoke up.
“It’s not gonna change anything if he does turn into one.” Ryuji stated.
Makoto shook her head. “Of course something is going to change! We need to plan on what—”
“So you’re just gonna leave him?!” Ryuji shouted.
“No!” Makoto shouted back. “That’s not what I was going to say! Let me finish.”
“Fine.” Ryuji huffed.
Ann grabbed one of his hands and held it. “Ryuji, you know Makoto wouldn’t do something like that…”
“I was going to say what are we going to do with Akira?” Makoto’s voice broke. “I will forever be with him. What I am worried about is his safety. How do we know if sunlight hurts him or not? What about school? What about his life ?”
“I…I dunno,” Ryuji responded, the anger gone from his voice. “But, right now, I’m just focused on ‘Kira.”
Ann nodded. “I think right now, he will just need us.”
Makoto blinked and sighed with a smile. “You two have grown to be more mature recently.”
Ann blushed and continued to fidget with her hair while Ryuji just gave a soft smile back.
Yusuke spoke up. “I do wonder what we are going to do if Akira is out of commission.”
“We can take a few days off to see if he actually is a vampire or not then go from there.” Makoto replied. “I can work out some favors with the school, and I’ll see what we can do with you, Yusuke.”
Morgana jumped down and walked over to the door. “I’ll see if I can hear what they are saying.” He put his ears to the door.
Morgana’s help wasn’t necessary as a voice questioned loudly which made him jump a bit.
“ What the hell!? ” Takemi’s voice probably. “ He barely has any blood left and is still losing it from the wound..! ”
“ But the wound should have stopped bleeding by now! ” Sojiro.
“ I…I don’t know if he’ll…. ” Takemi paused. “ How the hell is he still awake; he doesn’t have a pulse! ”
The group remained silent but the not-cat spoke up. “Guess that confirms the vampire theory…”
What the absolute hell.
What the fuck was her life now? It had just sat in for Futaba that Akira was attacked and turned into a vampire. Her brother was now a vampire. It’s hard to explain her true feelings because she loves her brother so much, but this change that he’s now a fucking and the concept of change gives her anxiety alone. Is he even going to be the same? Will he turn bloodthirsty?
No. Akira wouldn’t easily cave to vampire-y urges. If anything he would hurt himself in fear of hurting others when he should be taking care of himself. How would they even get the blood in the first place? Could they still even be the Phantom Thieves. Well, the name fits better she thinks now, desperately looking for any kind of humor.
~~~
Futaba and the Phantom Thieves explained in more detail about the attack and their thoughts on a vampire Akira. Takemi surprisingly agreed that Akira was a vampire. When asked why she believed in that so easily she simply replied.
“I’ve heard and seen the crazy shit Kurusu you kids have got into. With the talking cat, this is just normal now.” Takemi replied exasperated. “I’ll get blood shipped out as soon as I know how to get some for the vampire guinea pig.”
Thankfully it was still dark after all the tests Takemi had done to do on Akira. No one wanted to test the theory of vampires burning in sunlight after all. They were still cutting it close though. Sojiro went ahead to their house to put up the car and to clear away the stuff on top of the bed in the guest bedroom. Futaba was helping guide Ann and Ryuji with Akira in their hold to her house to give Akira a place to rest.
The rest of the thieves had gone home knowing they couldn’t help anymore. Sojiro was hesitant to let Ann and Ryuji help, but was forced to let the blonds help after them begging and screaming to help.
Akira was now at least a bit conscious. His normal grey eyes were now a mix between red and grey. His pupils now were slit like the predator he turned into. He didn’t speak any; Futaba couldn’t tell if it was due to the neck bite or him being in shock. She guessed the latter due to his distant eyes. He didn’t even seem to react to Ann and Ryuji’s gentle talking.
This was concerning for Futaba, but also was a relief. Concerning since Akira never showed any vulnerability, the closest she had got to seeing him being vulnerable was the night he came home on November 20th. He’d been out of it, mumbling and slurring his words. Hell, he even let some tears fall when he had his wounds taken care of by Takemi. But Akira always tried to put on a mask when he felt any vulnerability. The only time she’d seen him full on sob was during a night he started crying next to Mona after that night of being beaten. Futaba felt awful about her bugs after that and carefully took the ones in Akira’s room down the next day when he was away.
Relief was a feeling that made her feel guilty for feeling in the situation. The only reason Futaba felt relief was that Akira wasn’t hiding his pain. Although, that made the thought that he was in so much pain he couldn’t hide it made Futaba feel much more guilty.
Futaba helped get Akira settled in the guest room of her house after Ryuji and Ann were pushed out by Sojiro and Morgana. They cited that they had it under control and Akira probably doesn’t want anyone bothering him.
The task of settling Mona and Akira into a new environment was one she was not at a high enough level for, so she had to force herself to finish it like paying for a way to bypass task level requirements. Morgana wouldn’t leave Akira’s side. She had heard that cats were good therapy animals so it probably helped him. Hell, Futaba can be an alibi for that statement. The not-cat had first helped her cope while Akira was on his school trip to Hawaii then now comforting her after the bloodied attack Akira went through. That is to say, making Mona stay in the room was an easy task.
Akira was at a much higher difficulty than the not-cat.
Even though he wasn’t hiding his pain, he was still stubborn as all hell. He tried to walk to the guest room—completely ignoring the dizziness from blood loss!—and then promptly fell on his face. Even though he totally deserved it, her empathy was too high and she dragged him to the bed.
So, that’s where they are now.
Akira was laying in the bed with big bandages on his neck that constantly needed to be removed and then applied with fresh ones with the continued blood pouring out of him. Takemi theorized that the continued bleeding was a trait of becoming a vampire, stating that vampires were most likely drained of their blood in order to become one in combination with the venom that caused and helped the transformation.
Futaba was shown by Takemi how to replace the bandages for as long as Akira was losing blood while Sojiro took the day shift.
In the darkness of the room, she would’ve been able to almost ignore that fact that her founded/adopted brother was becoming a vampire by loosing all of his fucking blood, except that Akira’s eyes suddenly gained the ability to glow and were more red. His eyes looked like if eyes were made out of the same stuff glow sticks had in them.
If she was being honest, this freaked Futaba out. Despite knowing it was Akira, it was still heavily unnerving to see glowing eyes dart their gaze around a dark room and that the gaze occasionally landed on someone. He must have some night vision too since he always seemed to know when Futaba flinched at the glowing eyes and his gaze darted across the room. The only good thing about the eyes to her was that she could more easily tell if Akira was trying to sneak around her.
The sun was close to coming up so Futaba made her way to the guest room’s windows to close the blinds. Luck was unsurprisingly not on her or Akira’s side as the sun crept up enough to have some of its rays reach the room. Before she could turn around to check on Akira, there were sounds of blankets shuffling, the bed creaking, and a very displeased Morgana. The sight she saw did get a smile and repressed giggles from her despite the horrors that had happened recently.
Akira, someone who was basically full grown, was attempting to hide under the guest bed. He did fit despite his height most likely due to his skinniness. What made it funny to Futaba was the hisses Akira let out towards the sunlight as if it would make it go away. He looked more like a scared kitten than a vampire which was surprisingly fitting for him. The giggling died out when Futaba saw that Akira grew fangs, two sharp teeth both on the bottom and top. His neck was no longer actively bleeding and Akira had a pale complexion. It seems the transformation was complete.
“Guess you don’t like the sun now, huh?” Futaba asked, trying to avoid thinking that Akira was a full fledged vampire.
The now vampire looked at her from under the bed. “Guess so…Something in my mind just makes me want to avoid it…”
Morgana jumped down from the bed to look at Akira directly. “It might be because you can’t go out in the sun anymore.” His usual smug tone was replaced by a more natural one.
His red eyes widened then his face morphed into one of realization and downcast. “Right, vampire…Don’t wanna burn.” Akira forced out an awkward laugh.
Futaba closed the blinds, being sure she closed them thoroughly to be sure no sunlight went through. She didn’t have a high enough skill in socializing so this new task to help Akira was daunting. It’s true that she did gain some XP in the few weeks Akira helped her be less of a shut-in, but it may not be enough for such a high-level task. However, Futaba could not dwell on the difficulty of her new quest, she had to help her key-item!
Futaba turned around. “I got the blinds closed, ‘Kira. So you can move around this room without taking any damage.”
The vampire slowly got out from under the bed, glaring at the blinds as if his gaze could make the blinds stay shut. Futaba is actually making progress! If it keeps going this way she can—
Akira hissed loudly and cursed. He moved out of the blinds’ direction entirely and settled for the darkest corner of the room.
Oh.
Morgana also hissed, but at Futaba. “You said the blinds would block the sun! But he got hit by a ray!” Morgana returned to his hissy persona.
“I-I didn’t know…!” She could feel the guilt building up in her. “I thought I covered it all!”
“Obviously not!” The so-called not-cat yowled.
“Mona, it’s fine.” Akira spoke up. “She didn’t know. And I’m fine now.”
The not-cat huffed and glared at Futaba.
She held one of her arms in her hand awkwardly and mumbled to Akira. “Sorry, ‘Kira…” The hacker closed the blinds, this time triple checking it.
The vampire stood up from the corner and started to walk out the room, before stopping.
“Uh, Futaba?” Akira sheepishly asked. “Can you close these blinds for me so I can go see my reflection in the bathroom?”
Futaba made a noise of affirmation and closed the blinds with the same triple checks as in the guest room. As Akira went to the bathroom to look at his reflection while Futaba stayed outside, Morgana walked behind the new vampire, glaring sharp daggers at the orange haired girl.
~~~
As soon as Akira walked into the bathroom and glanced at the mirror, he immediately noticed his bright red eyes that glowed. They were, ironically, blood red and when he opened his mouth he imagined blood on his fangs. Akira imagined biting into someone’s vein as blood poured out. Would it be warm? Sweet? Sour? Oh he’s dying to try…
His eyes widened as he saw drool dribble down from his mouth in the reflection. He just imagined fucking biting someone. The worst part is, it sounded enjoyable…
Akira felt his body desperately wanting blood as he wiped the drool off his face with a sleeve. He definitely needed to stay a good distance away from people now and blood in general. What if tasting only a drop makes him crave it so much he’ll attack someone? Akira can’t take the chance of drinking blood, maybe it would fade away in the background. He doubts it, but it’s worth a shot.
Akira then realizes the lights are off but can see perfectly fine. New vampire traits. At least this one isn’t as bad as the blood craving, but it still reminds him he is different now.
Hopefully however Shido found out he’s alive and how he has a vampire on his side can be found out. Akira can only hope so, but he has a feeling that he would find out with his thieves, vampire or not.
Notes:
•First im glad you read this to the end! I have to apologize though for abrupt ending as I didn’t really know how to end it and wanted to split this chapter and another small plot about Sojiro reacting but that chapter will have to come later :’)
•Akechi chapter is next 👀👀
That chapter will also reveal how Shido has a vampire and how Akechi falls into the vampire plot
•I forgot to start this in the last chapter but I’ll start doing fun facts about my AU at the end of every chapter!!Fun Fact: In this AU vampires can taste the difference between blood types. Akira’s favorite types are B and AB. This is why Akira enjoyed Ryuji’s blood so much!

Chapter Text
“That cleaner guy let us go easier than I thought.” Ryuji said proudly, raising his fork in the air.
Akira just smiled in agreement and Kasumi started to hand out healing items from his coat pockets that were never ending—said jacket was taken off to remove the awkwardness of Kasumi rummaging through his pockets while having it on. The infiltration for the night had been going on for too long and the whole team’s SP had been used up.
The vampire gave out curry and coffee he had stocked up on for the last few days. It was pretty split on who got coffee or curry, but Akira gave Yusuke both—Futaba(gremlin) sneakily stole both from Kasumi. The gymnast obviously knew about the stealing but let it happen.
He didn’t give any coffee to Morgana—he never did—in fear of his “cat-like body” having cat side effects where a cat’s body does not favor coffee. Morgana did snack on the curry, most of the curry was specially made for Morgana anyways.
“We should head out instead of continuing to train like we usually do.” Akira stated.
Haru sighed in relief. “Thank goodness. I don’t think I can continue on much longer.” She said as she delicately sipped on a drink.
The rest of the Thieves all said their agreements except Yusuke who continued to eat a second round of curry. Akira needs to give that artist a bigger serving.
“Hey, Joker!” Futaba called from her corner with curry and coffee in her hands. “Can you get a goho-m out?”
“Sure.” The vampire replied as he searched through his endless pockets on the table.
“Shit.”
Morgana turned around, head tilted and paws carrying the remaining bits of curry. “What’s up, Joker?”
Joker cringed. “I may have forgotten to grab the goho-ms I made last night.” He sheepishly grinned to the group as he put his coat back on.
“Noooooo…!” Futaba cried dramatically. “I don’t wanna do all that climbing and walking again…”
The rest of the thieves showed their own contempt at walking back. Ryuji groaning as loud as Futaba, Ann just sighing heavily, Yusuke lost his tension in his muscles and he moped but continued eating, Makoto tried to stay professional, but sighed slightly, Kasumi drank her drink faster, and dear sweet Haru held her sigh in and tried to keep up her smile.
“It’s alright Joker.” Haru smiled forcefully, sweetly. “I’m sure I can make it a little longer.” She kissed his check gently.
Joker kissed back. “Thank you, Noir.”
“Joker-senpai and Noir-senpai are right! We should get going soon!” Kasumi put in.
“I guess we should then.” Makoto agreed. “We do have multiple SP items left if we get tired from Shadows.” Makoto said as she stomped on her can on the ground which soon turned to ash and disappeared.
After being used, items disappeared—it was impossible to litter in the Metaverse. Another plus to it.
“Jokerrrr…” Futaba whined as she leaned on the vampire. “Carry meeeee…”
Akira said nothing and just shoved her off.
~~~
“It’s been forever…”
“Oracle-senpai, it’s been just a few steps…”
“I gotta get home, Blossom…don’t wanna lose my streak…”
The other thieves let the two girls talk while walking in the boiler room with smiles—knowing their secret crush on each other. It was only a matter of time before either of the two redheads confessed accidentally. Akira bet on Futaba with her tendency to rant, often forgetting what she says during said rants.
Akira was about to tease them before a blur of red, white, and gold jumped down from above and landed in front of him.
It was Akechi Goro.
The man who attempted to kill him.
That sounded like Akira hated him. He didn’t though despite all the things the detective did.
All the vampire felt was a sense of betrayal and sadness. He knew of Akechi’s past and how he might’ve ended up desperate for attention, but this didn’t excuse all of his crimes.
“Long time no see, Akira.” Akechi said as walked closer.
“You?!” Ryuji shouted both in shock and anger.
“Akechi-senpai!” Kasumi shouted too.
“Why is he here?” Futaba muttered.
Akechi scoffed, paying no mind to the thieves besides Akira. “I’m impressed that you managed to deceive me. I underestimated your abilities.” The other one continued. “You are truly interesting. You’re quiet, yet you possess the courage to take action.”
Akira continued to glare at the detective as both surveyed each other.
The detective continued. “Under different circumstances we could have been great rivals or friends, perhaps.”
“We’re already rivals.” Akira replied confidently, still not taking a defensive stance like the others.
Akechi just merely laughed like it was the funniest joke.
“Akechi-senpai what is going on?” Kasumi asked Akechi.
Shit. They didn’t tell the redhead of Akechi’s crimes, she must feel confused.
The detective ignored her. “How wonderful. You don’t allow yourself to be enslaved by human relations or past selves.” He continued his stare at Akira, like a crow looking down on prey. “Therefore your heart is always free. The exact opposite of mine. In fact, I’m envious of it.
“I don’t know why we couldn’t have met a few years earlier, Akira…” A shadow fell over Akechi’s face and regret filled his eyes.
Akira could practically feel the detective’s regret coming off him. He found himself agreeing with Akechi, understanding his point of view better.
“Akechi…” Ann said, clearly understanding Akechi and his complicated relationship. She was always like that.
As a few other thieves opened their mouths to mutter sympathies to the detective, Akechi moved on.
“But, it’s no use talking in hypotheticals. It didn’t happen in reality.”
Before he could continue in his speech, Makoto spoke up.
“Akechi-kun! Why are you cooperating with someone like Shido?!” Makoto practically begged. “Don’t you see this Palace? His true nature is obv—”
Akira could tell that snapped something in Akechi.
“Cooperating?” Akechi spoke the word as if it’s the first time he’s heard it. “What are you talking about? I don’t care for Shido, or even this country.” He spoke coldly. “All of this is to make Shido Masayoshi, my father, acknowledge me. Then I can exact my revenge on him.”
“Shido is your father?!” Yusuke questioned.
“Remember Akira, I said something before about how my mother was in a relationship with a good-for-nothing man?” Akechi continued to ignore the thieves and only focused on Akira. “So I’m his bastard child . My existence is nothing more than a scandal.” He sounded like he might break down.
“My mother’s life turned for the worse after I was born then…died. I’m her cursed child who caused her to die.”
“That’s horrible!” Haru said in sympathy.
Akechi’s voice turned cold once more. “I resented him, but he was already a high-ranking official by then. A kid like me could not do anything.”
Akira stepped forward to say something but Akechi laughed. Laughed a cold, sinister laugh that sent shivers up his spine.
“But, that’s when it happened!” He laughed and shot his hands out dramatically. “ That’s when I learned about the cognitive world!” The detective smiled wide.
The vampire and the other took a step back, sensing something was truly wrong with Akechi.
“Someone, be it a god or demon, gave me a chance, gave me power. And I couldn’t contain my laughter!” His tone lifted to like he was on cloud nine, but sounded crazed.
Ryuji started to grab his club. “You son of a…”
“Akechi-senpai please calm down!” Kasumi begged.
“It wasn’t your fault that your mother died!” Futaba shouted.
“Who cares?” Akechi’s smile only widened. “My targets were doing the same damn thing in this eat or be eaten world. All I did was remove their evil from society.” The detective tilted his head, smiling and questioning. “How is that any different from the Phantom Thieves.”
“We don’t murder anyone!” Haru countered.
The vampire saw for a split second that Akechi’s eyes sparked.
“So what?!” He shouted. “Shido Masayoshi is finally within my grasp!”
“Then join us, Akechi-senpai.” Kasumi reasoned.
“No, once he reaches the apex of his power and starts to finally acknowledge me, I’m going to whisper in his ear…
“I will tell him the truth of who I am and that is how I, an utter disgrace, will rule over him! My plan and I will prevail!”
“Your thoughts warped.” Yusuke commented. “They are almost pitiable…”
“In just a few weeks, my plan would’ve come to fruition, but no , you had to interfere!”
Akechi took out his saber and pointed it at Akira. “I can still take it back though. I’ll just need to kill you all.”
Even though Akechi spoke to all of the Phantom Thieves, Akira knew he was talking about him. The whole speech was directed to him.
“Hmph! We won’t get killed for something like that.” Morgana replied smugly. “Your talk is all big, but really you’re just a little kid throwing a temperature tantrum.”
Morgana! The vampire hissed inwardly and outwardly. Insulting him won’t help anything.
Akechi started to walk closer to the not-cat. “Don’t you lecture me, you piece of shit.”
Akira moved over to stand in front of Morgana and found the other thieves scooting closer to the not-cat. Though the not-cat tried to move around them.
“I’m going to personally thrust Shido Masayoshi into a living hell.” The detective’s attention shifted back to Akira. “So, Joker , rest easy and die.”
“I don’t plan on dying.” Akira simply replied as he gripped his knife sharply.
“Give it up!” Ryuji shouted. “We know all your tricks from working with us.”
“ Joker… ” Akechi said sweetly but with mania. “How could you be so successful with such an idiot as your partner?”
“H-huh?! You’re bluffin’”
“It’s no bluff, Skull.” Makoto warned. “If he is truly behind the mental shutdowns, it’s likely he has only shown a fraction of his power.”
Akechi laughed once more. “I’ll tell you all about my true power, while you die. And you can take all that knowledge to the grave.”
Two strong Shadows appeared behind him.
“Kill them.” Akechi ordered the Shadows.
The detective stepped behind the Shadows. “The mental shutdowns aren’t the only incidents people are talking about. There’s also the breakdowns that cause people to turn psychotic, creating accidents and scandals.
“Those cannot be explained unless the true culprit has the power to turn people’s hearts psychotic. That’s right! It’s my power—the one you don’t have!
“Allow me to show you.” Akechi put his hand on his mask. “ PERSONA !” He sounded psychotic as a different Persona the vampire has never seen.
Skull who had previously ran towards Akechi paused, clearly caught off guard.
“Where did Robin Hood go!?” Futaba asked as she was abducted into Prometheus. “Another Persona…?”
The two Shadows turned black with red marks throughout them with yellow eyes like a Shadow of a person.
“Even the feeblest existence can gain tremendous power once the chains on its hearts are broken.” Akechi continued. “You better not underestimate these two…”
“What did Akechi do?!” The hacker questioned. “He made the enemies way stronger now.”
The Shadows powered up with a move never seen before.
Akira quickly down shot the Cerberus-looking Shadow then immediately baton-passed to Ryuji, hoping for a crit to land on the other Shadow, but Ryuji didn’t land a crit.
Both Ryuji and Akira cursed.
Haru took her chance next, using Triple Down with Astarte, landing a critical hit. She then led the All-Out-Attack which finished off the Shadows.
The detective stepped forward as the Shadows turned to ash. “Well done.” He scoffed.
“The power to turn others psychotic…” Futaba‘s voice ran through their minds with Prometheus. “He used it on actual people…?” Her voice cracked. “This guy’s out of his mind!”
“Of course I didn’t expect you to be defeated by them. You have deceived me and escaped death, after all.” Akechi continued. “I wouldn’t give up my chance to massacre you with my own two hands!”
“He’s coming Joker, brace yourself!”
“ Persona! ” Akechi screamed.
“Arsène!” Joker called.
Both Personas, Robin Hood—who has returned— and Arsène clashed. Both used each other’s weaknesses, Bless versus Curse. Neither Persona could outweigh the other and disappeared back into their users who fell back.
Morgana quickly healed Joker while Haru, Yusuke, Kasumi, and Ryuji tried to crit while Akechi was dizzy. The detective soon regained his bearings and used a wide spread Bless attack to get them off him, save for Kasumi who quickly healed the other physical attackers.
Then in quick succession, Akechi called for his Persona. “ Robin Hood! ” He screeched, and Megidola attacked the whole team, dealing good damage.
Joker took his chance and shot at Akechi with his modified gun which shocked him then landed a quick slash with his dagger.
The detective stepped back and only smiled. “So neither of us had shown our true strengths, huh…?” He laughed, then growled wildly. “Don’t underestimate me, Joker !”
Akechi called for Robin Hood and yelled for a Megidolan this time, which nearly took out the team, but Futaba healed them up.
Akechi stepped back, panting heavily while Joker slashed him once more as the detective fell.
Morgana walked closer to the fallen detective. “So he is able to turn people psychotic…” The not-cat turned back to the other Thieves. “I had thought it was a special thing like the Nav, but it seems to be his own Persona’s power.”
Makoto stared at Akechi coldly, but shaken. “I can’t believe that the ability to control and drive others mad was born within his heart.”
“It seems really out there considering how Akechi acted before…” Kasumi put in.
“I’ll kill you…” Akechi rasped, trying to stand up. “You’re all gonna die!”
“Will you please stop?!” Ann begged. “You’re fighting the wrong people! We both hate the same guy! Why do we have to go against each other?!”
“Killing us won't make you happy.” Makoto stated matter-of-factly.
“But…I…!” The detective tried to argue.
Ryuji added on. “This ain’t about what Shido says! You’re your own person! You gotta know that!”
Akechi slammed his fist on the ground. “…Damn it!”
“I can’t forgive you,” Futaba started. “But, you know sometimes I think about that fake Medjed you guys made up. It was the worst trap…but if not for that, I don’t think I’d be here right now.”
The hacker grew nervous. “So…uh—Basically…it doesn’t matter where you start over!”
The detective tried to stand up again, but failed. “Shit…!”
“I can’t forgive you either, Akechi-kun…But, I understand why you’re doing this. However, you can change…” Haru said sympathetically.
Akechi didn’t say anything, but grunt.
“Your crimes were truly atrocious, making others psychotic through your Persona. But, I believe if it weren’t for the others, I may have ended up like you.” Yusuke added.
Akechi just slammed his fist on the ground once again.
“Akechi-kun! I get the loss of losing someone you love, but you have to think what would make them happy if they saw you!” Kasumi reasoned.
The detective glared at the redhead.
“And…” Morgana started sadly. “You don’t really hate Joker, do you?
“That smile before we fought…Isn’t that how you really feel?”
Akechi froze and grimaced, refusing to meet Joker’s eyes.
“Follow your true feelings!” The not-cat continued. “Even if you think people hate you or don’t want you around that’s—”
“Shut up! Shut up ! Shut up! “Akechi snapped.
“Teammates?! Friends ?! To hell with that!” He continued madly as he stood up. “Why am I inferior to you ?
“I was extremely particular about my life, my grades, my public image, so someone would want me around!” His voice cracked. “I’m an ace detective…A celebrity!”
“Akechi…” Akira tried to reason and reached out with his hands. Maybe he could convince Akechi to change.
“But you… ” Akechi ignored him. “You’re just some criminal trash living in an attic! So how…?!
“How does someone like you have things I don’t, Akira?! How can such a worthless piece of trash be more special than me?!l
Akira chose his words carefully, trying not to provoke the detective. “That’s not the case. Look inside yourself.”
Akechi just laughed then growled. “This argument is meaningless!” His outfit for a second turned black with a red aura.
Akira took a step back. Knowing what that meant. He knew it was true, but maybe it wouldn’t have been. Maybe he could’ve convinced Akechi to give up his revenge and live a free life with him. Maybe they could even go to the jazz club together again. Maybe they could’ve lived together.
“What was that?!” Makoto took him out of his thoughts.
“A black mask…?” Yusuke murmured in shock, confirming Akira’s fear.
“Then the palace rulers…” Morgana said with his ears perking up.
“So it was you after all!” Ryuji screamed.
Akira said nothing and remained his serious poker face but tried to convey some emotion in his eyes to the detective.
Akechi saw it and smiled. “Oh, this is great…” He chuckled. “I’m surprised…This is actually a first for me. I might even have to try my hardest against you.” The detective sounded excited. “You know…I just came up with a fun little idea…I wonder how far I can go with this…”
“Fun…?” Haru questioned.
“Akira. You’re not satisfied with where we left it earlier, are you?” Akechi continued, talking about their Mementos fight. “Isn’t this what you really wanted?
“You and I are going to strike and strike again until one of us is dead. To hell with holding back!
“Ah, just picturing it sends chills down my spine…What Shido thinks of me? I don’t give a shit…” His tone grew more insane as he stared harder at Akira and as the two held their eye contact, Akechi laughed. “All I care about now is killing you… To prove I’m better than you!”
Akechi took a few steps back. “Here, I’ll show you who I really am…” His face grew the widest smile the vampire has ever seen. “Come, Loki!! ”
The previous shadowed Persona appeared above Akechi, but the shadow was gone. It was fully covered in black and white stripes with striped horns. Had hair that seemed braided with a long red sword. It also had a similarly wide smile with red teeth.
“Again, it’s that Persona!” Yusuke pointed out.
Akechi was being covered in black with his Metaverse outfit altering.
“Akechi-kun! What’s happening?!” Kasumi questioned in fear.
“Don’t make me laugh!” Akechi said as his outfit grew black claws and became striped in a black outfit. “Justice? Righteous ? Keep that shit to yourselves!” Akechi clawed at his face. “You and your teammates piss me off!”
“He can use two separate Personas?!” Morgana yelped. “Then everything…even his appearance was faked!”
Akechi continued to claw at himself wildly as he used his powers of turning people psychotic on himself. “You’re going down I’ll destroy you…Go down with me!” A burst of energy was released from him that sent the force at the Thieves.
“No way!” Ann shouted.
“Akechi!” Haru screamed.
“That bastard…! He made himself turn psychotic.” Ryuji shouted too.
A helmet formed over the detective as he laughed. “Now, let’s see you drop dead one at a time, in front of your precious friends!”
“He’s lost it! Here he comes!” Futaba warned, getting sucked up in Prometheus.
“ DIE!!!!! ” Akechi screeched as he pulled out a new gun and shot at Akira suddenly.
After the detective turned psychotic and the sudden bullet, he had no time to move and was shot in the shoulder. Akira hissed and bared his fangs as he tried to stay standing, but fell to his knees. As the bullet shot at him, he caught a distinct scent on it, one that screamed at him: Bad, Dangerous, Hiss . The smell finally registered to him in his pained dazed.
Silver.
Pained hisses escaped him as Morgana and Ann ran towards him to help while the other Thieves attacked Akechi. Ann tried to grab his arm to probably soothe him, the vampire hissed sharply at her. Akira felt the need to get away from others, he was in too much pain.
Ann paused. “Calm down, it’s okay.” She soothed. “Me and Mona are here to heal you.”
The vampire started to relax at her calm voice and let her and the not-cat get close.
“I don’t think the bullet is stuck in him. I think it might’ve gone all the way through.” Ann spoke to Morgana.
“Well, let’s hope it did.” Morgana responded.
Soon the pain and cloudiness that filled his mind faded away with the green glow around him. Akira blinked and looked away from the blonde and the not-cat in shame for his lash out, but stood up anyway.
“Sorry,” Akira started as he stood up. He winced when he moved his left arm—the side that got shot. “I think the arm on my left is useless, for now. Akechi has silver bullets on him.”
“Oh, aren’t vampires weak to silver?” Ann asked as she readied her whip.
Akira confirmed and Morgana sighed. “We just have to make do. Akechi is acting psychotic; we need to be careful.”
“I’ll be on the support side. I’ll try to cast any debuffs on Akechi while Oracle can buff us.” Akira stated.
“Got it, leader!” Futaba affirmed.
The three ran to the battle, Akira falling behind on purpose.
Akira called for Arahabaki to lower Akechi’s attack while Makoto about ran over the detective with Johanna.
Yusuke then tried to freeze Akechi with a Bufudyne. After failing Futaba shouted that she was buffing all the Thieves stats. Kasumi got in a crit, but the team couldn’t do an All-Out-Attack without Akira so she tried to Baton Pass to Ryuji.
Key word. Tried.
Akechi, desperate, grabbed the redhead’s leg as she was running back to start a Baton Pass. Kasumi yelped as she hit the ground. The detective still couldn’t get up even though he had a thief in his hands.
The vampire picked up his pace as did the other Thieves, the closest to the gymnast was now Akira and Ryuji.
Ryuji was quicker and tried to pull Akechi off Kasumi. Akira joined him soon with the other thieves closing in. The detective growled ferally, which sparked something in Akira.
The vampire hissed back and turned his attention from Kasumi to Akechi, focusing on his aggression towards the detective instead of helping the redhead. He gave the detective a warning hiss, bared his fangs. No one touched anyone that was part of his team. At another growl, he snapped his mouth open and leaned over.
“Akira, no!” Ryuji shouted, but it was too late.
Akira’s fangs were lodged in Akechi’s neck as the detective screamed, and let go of Kasumi.
Kasumi quickly got herself up and tried to pull her leader off of Akechi. “Joker-senpai! Please come back!”
The screams grew louder as the vampire bit down harder. “Akira!” The detective screeched. “Get the fuck off me!”
“Everyone! Joker is biting Ak-Akechi!” Futaba’s voice rang out. “Try to get him off as soon as possible.”
“He’s not letting go!” Makoto yelped as she pulled.
“Oracle! Should we put Joker-senpai asleep?!” Kasumi shouted.
“Uh-Yeah!” Futaba said as she came down from Prometheus.
“Hecate!” Ann called.
Both Akechi’s and Akira’s vision turned black.
~~~
“…A muzzle might help…bite others…”
“Hell no…!”
“…We don’t know how this…affected…besides the physical…”
“Akechi-kun…he’s recovering…going through the same changes as him…”
Akira could hear voices talking near him. He caught the distinct scent of medicine, hand sanitizer, and cleanliness. The vampire was most likely at Takemi’s office. When he opened his eyes it confirmed it.
He was in the examination room sitting in one of the chairs. Akira blinked his eyes at the bright light in the room and was confused why he was in there. But, the memories soon burst back in his mind. The vampire flinched and looked around wildly.
“Oh, you’re awake, guinea pig. Well, vampire guinea pig.” Takemi said as he walked towards him, hee boots clicking against the tiled floor.
Akira stared at her and behind her on the examination table was Akechi with bandages around his neck. He was passed out and was breathing heavily.
“Akechi!” The vampire screamed as he stood up to run over to the detective.
Arms grabbed him from behind and pulled him back in the chair.
“‘Kira! Calm down.”
Ryuji.
The faux blond pulled him in the chair and firmly held him there. “It’s okay. Akechi isn’t dead.”
Akira knew that. He was worried about the effects of his bite.
“He’s right.” The goth doctor confirmed. “I don’t think he can die right now anymore.” She held her clipboard, almost using it like a fan.
Akira barely heard her. He couldn’t take his eyes off the brunette laying on the table with blood leaking through the bandages.
He couldn’t believe it.
He couldn’t believe he did it.
Akira bit him.
He might’ve just given Akechi a fate worse than death.
Takemi noticed his face and sighed sympathetically. “I’m sorry, but you’re right, Kurusu. He is showing the same signs as you did when you were turned.”
“I’m sorry too, kid” Akira jumped. He didn’t notice Sojiro in the room. “I should’ve made you stay at home knowing how you would act and behave with this. Maybe I could’ve made this avoidable.”
Akira didn’t reply and just stared at them for a second before turning back to Akechi.
Ryuji held his hand tighter. And Akira returned the gesture.
“Where…Where are the others?” Akira asked the faux blond.
“Makoto and Yusuke are outside. The rest were forced out.” Ryuji replied.
“Futaba is at home.” Sojiro clarified. “She got too overwhelmed and I didn’t want her to see another thing like this. The rest were forced to go home. It was getting late.”
“Niijima and Kitagawa decided to stay since they had enough days to skip school, unlike the others.” Takemi added.
Akira nodded and continued to stare at Akechi.
An uncomfortable silence overtook the other three as it felt like they wanted to stay something, but were too scared to start.
The goth doctor sighed, starting a seemingly uncomfortable discussion. “When you were asleep, Kurusu. We were discussing the…” She cleared her throat. “…Attack and further measures.
“We discussed the possibility of a muzzle, but it seems your friends were against it.”
Akira was silent.
It was like the other Thieves to vouch for their teammates despite it being more beneficial to the world. Like him being muzzled.
The vampire opened his mouth to agree to it, however, a weak voice spoke up.
“There’s no need.” The voice coughed. “He’s too much of a goody-two-shoes to attack others.”
Akechi. He was speaking up for him despite being the victim of Akira’s vampire outburst.
The detective was struggling to sit up while blood was being drained from his neck bite, but looked like he wasn’t going to move.
Takemi hummed. “That’s true. I believe Kurusu wouldn’t attack anyone out of his will, but he did attack you.”
Akechi let out a wheezy, cackling laugh. “I’m sure that the vampire shit in his brain only reacted because I attacked his precious friends.” The detective then laid back down still with a cackle. “Trust me, as a “victim” of his.”
“But, what if it was—” Akira started.
“Akira! For God’s sake! You know I’m right!” Akechi coughed.
The vampire fell silent.
“Well, there you go doc,” Ryuji turned to Takemi. “No muzzle.”
She smiled and agreed and turned to redress Akechi’s bandages.
Sojiro smiled. “Kid, you always seem to have the weirdest people on your side. Don’t know how you get them.”
The vampire turned to him as he leaned on Ryuji. “Dunno either. Maybe I collect them.”
The old man and blond laughed.
Ryuji brushed through Akira’s black hair with his hand as the vampire purred softly and leaned into it. “Maybe you will collect everyone someday.”
“He will somehow. Probably through some crazy shit.” The detective agreed as he wheezed through the pain.
Notes:
Fun fact of the chapter: Akechi didn’t know that Akira was a vampire until he was bit. Shido gave him a new gun without warrant and Akechi was very confused.
Yusuke chapter coming next!!!💙💙💙And I just wanted to say why this is so late :’)
I went to GalaxyCon(amazing time dressed up as Miku and Aira from Dandadan) Then I got sick for a few weeks. Then my dad got sick for two weeks and we couldn’t figure out why, but he had to go to the ER and figured out he had bacteria in his heart so he was in there for a few days with a heavy scare. And he’s going to have to have heart surgery soon. He just got discharged yesterday and I completed this chapter today as I didn’t have a chance to finish it. So I hope this clears up a few things!Have a lovely day everyone❤️❤️❤️
