Chapter Text
Tobirama was a special child from the moment he was born, clearly resembling his mother, who was from the Hatake clan.
His mother married Butsuma politically, nothing more, and brought him only heirs and cared for them as a mother would with her own children.
Despite being from the Hatake clan, she didn't love her own children.
There was no love or genuine concern in her words; they were just empty words she repeated as if she had memorized them. Her heart was completely empty, devoid of feelings.
But they were enough to fool her children and some foolish adults into believing she cared for them.
The hugs she gave her children were merely gestures, devoid of any warmth.
The words were merely letters engraved on paper, and she had memorized them all.
What distinguished Tobirama was that, as soon as he was four years old, he discovered the truth behind his mother's words and her true feelings for them.
He knew this when he sensed her chakra. Her chakra was nothing but empty energy that held a deep part of himself. Only hatred and sadness. There was no love, compassion, guilt, or anything else. Just two feelings, and they were faint.
This made Tobirama not rely on his mother or run to her and cry in her arms. It was almost as if he was ignoring her.
Thanks to his brilliant mind, he realized that his mother didn't love them. Why bother her then?... It made no sense.
It wasn't necessary that he hated her or was disappointed in her. Rather, she had every logical reason not to love them.
As for his father, he felt a sense of pride when he noticed Tobirama moving away from security, kindness, and "weakness."
Because of this distance, it made it easy for Tobirama to do something big.
Because a year later, Butsuma killed their mother in front of them, in order to kill his children's emotions early and destroy the wall behind which they were hiding.
Hashirama knew what was going to happen in advance. He was the eldest. He knew the truth about everything. But, wanting to stop it, he couldn't. He knew. This... so he gave a look of anger and resentment, clenched his fist, and remained silent.
As for Kawarama, he fell to his knees and cried, and his father reprimanded him for this.
He desperately wanted to curse his father publicly, but he couldn't, knowing what would happen next.
As for Itama, he was different.
He had always known how much he loved his mother and how far he would go for her.
He was extremely emotional and didn't think before he acted.
At that moment, he didn't have the mind to think. He screamed, cursed, cried, and vowed revenge, even going so far as to attempt to attack his father. Itama's hatred for his father was so intense at that moment.
Hashirama was startled and ran to his younger brother, hugged him, and made sure to silence him immediately. He didn't want Itama to meet the same fate on the same day.
He knew Butsuma might take advantage of this and beat him to show the fate of those who would oppose him.
As for Tobirama, he stood there with his usual cold expression. He drew it when he was four years old, looking at the corpse indifferently.
Unlike his cracking interior...
Because of Tobirama's expression, his father smiled sarcastically and left, reinforcing his idea that Tobirama was the perfect heir. He didn't care if he didn't quite carry the Senju features; what mattered to him was how effective he was in combat.
No one could read Tobirama's expressions. Everyone except his brothers. To them, Tobirama was exposed at best, and at worst, it would take them longer to understand his feelings.
Even if Tobirama didn't love her... it wasn't necessary that he hated her... or wanted her dead... there was a stupid, childish part inside him screaming his desire for her to stay, and maybe... maybe... deluding himself that he might love them one day... if they were strong... maybe... but this dream and this part died the moment Butsuma's sword pierced their mother's heart... right in front of them.
Kawarama stood and looked towards Tobirama.
As soon as their mother left the hall, Kawarama quickly stepped forward. Tobirama leaned towards him and hugged him.
Tobirama's hands trembled at first, and he was nervous and hesitant, before returning the hug.
He tightened the hug and buried his face in his brother's shoulder. Sobs escaped him, and then he gave in to tears.
As much as he wanted to convince himself that he was emotionless, that he didn't love this woman,
he wanted her.
His legs trembled, and he didn't have the strength to stay standing. He fell to his knees, still holding the hug.
Kawarama stroked Tobirama's hair and whispered reassuring and soothing words to him, asking him to cry and not hide it.
Itama finally regained his composure, which prompted Hashirama to release him.
The two of them walked towards their brother, who was crying and trembling violently.
The four brothers leaned into an embrace, reassuring each other that they were still together and that none of them would leave.
Reminding each other that they were together and would not Nothing separates them anymore...
A month had passed since their mother's death. They couldn't even mourn for two days. Their father strongly objected, which made them give up and return to their duties.
Butsuma trained them personally, and honestly, no one was happy.
His training was a living hell for all of them.
Hashirama and Kawarama often had to endure beatings for their younger brothers.
That was the situation...they trained together, at least...until this happened.
Butsuma discovered Tobirama's ability as a Sensor, which led to him being separated from the others and undergoing separate training.
It was disturbing for the three brothers, as no one knew the content of Tobirama's training.
At the end of each training session, the room was covered in blood, and Tobirama was unable to even move.
This angered Hashirama greatly...
Hashirama: You can't go on like this!! My brother will die this way!
Butsuma: Are you challenging me, Hashirama?!
Hashirama: Do it! I won't let you kill my brother right there!
A huge fight broke out between Butsuma and Hashirama.
Tobirama wanted to intervene quickly and stop his brother, but Kawarama knew it was too late, so all he could do was keep his younger brothers behind him to protect them.
But if things got too bad, he would take action himself to protect Hashirama.
What happened next was unexpected by no one, not even Butsuma himself.
Wood sprang from the ground, destroying the house. Wood and plants surrounded much of the compound.
Everyone was shocked, and Hashirama stopped as well, staring at what he had done.
"Mokuton?"
Hashirama heard his father's whispers... and thought that his father was cursing him in an ancient language.
It was the only logical explanation in his mind, at least.
"What is this...?" Kawarama whispered, but because of the silence and tense atmosphere, everyone could hear him clearly.
No one slept that night.
Not even the entire complex.
Their father briefly explained the "Mokuton" before leaving.
This made everyone turn to Tobirama, who always knew the answers to all their questions.
Tobirama answered them and explained it in detail.
This made Hashirama incredibly happy, as he was so powerful.
Kawarama: "Ha! Then I'll get this Mokuton too!"
Itama: "Brother, didn't you hear what Tobi said?! It's not easy at all."
Hashirama stared at his hands as he said, in a voice just above a whisper, "Great, great, great!" He repeated this phrase often, which made Tobirama sigh and wonder if his brother had turned into a parrot.
Two months later,
Hashirama faced a problem with teaching Mokuton. His father himself didn't know much, and neither did many others. They only helped him for a month, and then they became useless.
He was training under his own supervision, trying to discover his own strength, but Tobirama was helping him. Tobirama had examined the entire clan archives and extracted all the useful information and presented it to Hashirama. He was able to train for a long time on this information. His other brothers would sometimes say, "A passing thought makes him wonder if it's possible to create it." Of course, Tobirama was the one who helped him with this part: "It's possible" or "It's not possible."
On the other hand,
Kawarama was also strong. He mastered all combat techniques, both weapons and physical combat. His physical strength was not to be underestimated, as he demonstrated its strength when he was able to shatter an entire boulder with a single blow. His training was under the supervision of a certain group of men. Supervision
Toka, their cousin, Kawarama was able to help all his brothers train them, and he was the one who came up with the strangest ideas for Hashirama, which exposed Hashirama to merciless tests at the hands of Tobirama, who was somewhat sadistic...and the matter was attributed to their father.
As for Tobirama, his father stopped training him after the incident, and it's not as if he was of any use from the start. Tobirama focused on training himself, as he was the one who developed himself the most and didn't need anyone to tell him to be hard on himself. He was tough from the start, never stopping spreading his chakra everywhere, developing it every second. He even made sure to maintain his focus while sleeping. His chakra reached a great range, reaching the Naka River between the Senju and the Uchiha. His chakra also reached the level of reading emotions and pinpointing locations. He was able to know the feelings and locations of every person or thing with chakra throughout his range. This was considered great, as his range was large and he had complete control over it. He also learned a lot about the soton, as he could control water. Although not completely, he was better than many soton controllers, which made him realize a lot. This fact also helped him in the experiments he conducted on Hashirama. Despite all this ability, he never stopped learning. Inventing things and creating strange experiments. In one of his experiments, he created a diseased plant that released toxic energy, causing half the group to fall ill. Since then, he has been banned from experiments without the supervision or knowledge of Butsuma himself. He added, "Tobirama helped all his brothers in their training due to his extensive knowledge. He was a great assistant to Hashirama, even if he was sometimes a source of fear for him. He helped Kawarama when he felt like he was at the edge of the jar, but he couldn't get over it. Because of his help, Kawarama developed further." He assisted Itama in medical matters, as Tobirama's ability to control water helped Itama understand some of the effects on bodies and some solutions to some diseases.
As for Itama, he demonstrated true healing and treatment abilities, which upset Butsuma due to his lack of combat abilities like his brothers. Itama completely ignored the matter, which angered Butsuma. However, thanks to Hashirama, Kawarama, and Tobirama, he couldn't do much for him.
Itama became part of the healing team and was known for his strong abilities and sharp intelligence. He was able, from the first time, to... Treating a deep wound... was an indescribable talent, even surpassing Hashirama's. Despite Hashirama's large chakra reserves and stronger healing abilities, they weren't as precise as Itama's, and this was a major point in Itama's favor. However, his healing knowledge didn't prevent him from undergoing physical training, though at least not under Butsuma's supervision. Rather, it was under the supervision of the head of the healing department, an elder named Nakuzen. Itama was also strong. He helped train his brothers as well. He wasn't much in terms of combat abilities, but he was useful in other ways. He directly assisted Hashirama with healing abilities, teaching him precision and slowness, yet still maintaining quality. He helped Tobirama with his studies and experiments, despite his constant fear of them. He also helped Kawarama with physical care, teaching him some movements and techniques that had a special effect on each muscle in the body, as well as some movements and strength concentration. These matters are because physical strength was somehow connected to healing abilities... (Tobirama is also investigating the matter.) Which makes Itama and Kawarama the subjects of the next experiments) and so a determination occurred within Itama to try to learn about physical abilities later.. when he has good control over chakra
His father wasn't that proud of them, because they were still "human." To him, he didn't need humans; he needed a weapon. But he was forced to ignore these parts because he knew he couldn't change them so quickly... at least not now... not while they were together...
But there were some facts: He was somewhat wary of Hashirama because he knew Hashirama was one of his fiercest opponents and wouldn't hesitate to protect his brothers if he noticed that his father intended to seriously harm them.
He also felt angry at Kawarama, because in his opinion, he wasn't as special as Hashirama and Tobirama, who possessed shinobi abilities, not his own, which he wasn't convinced of. He felt he was being too lenient and would need to talk to Touka soon.
He also felt a lack of awareness and a refusal to acknowledge Itama's existence, because it was ironic that a child who screamed with such hatred that he would kill him was only capable of healing.
The feelings of hatred between them were somewhat mutual.
As for Tobirama, there was a kind of Fear, pride, and hatred
His fear—his clan's fear of him—was unjustified. He had truly brutal experiences. He had that familiar expression when he killed someone on his first mission. He looked like he was cooking, playing, or doing something normal and natural. He showed no reaction when he killed him, and didn't even look at him.
This feeling brought out his pride and, at the same time, a kind of fear. But it was so small, it only came out when Tobirama acted worthy of his title, "The White Demon." He only earned that title on his second mission.
With his eyes reddening in the darkness, his face expressionless, and the shadow of death surrounding him, it gave him a sense of retreat. But along with the fear came a feeling of hatred because of this fear. He hated being afraid of a "child!" Which hurts him, giving himself the feeling that he's stronger. This was the thinking of a completely sick person.
Just one year ago...
Hashirama turned 10, Kawarama turned 7, Tobirama turned 6, and Itama turned 6...
More clearly, everyone was about to turn the next year as well.
Kawarama's birthday is in a week, and he'll turn 8.
Hashirama's birthday is before that, as is Itama's.
Kawarama and Tobirama were still to turn 10.
But Kawarama was sent off to war... another fight for another trivial reason.
Hashirama argued behind closed doors with his father to allow him to accompany Kawarama, but he refused, claiming that Hashirama was the heir apparent and important.
Tobirama was able to convince his father to allow him to accompany Kawarama, but after a series of arguments and some slaps, he finally allowed him.
The reason for the slaps was that he responded sharply to Butsuma's words.
The brothers and a group of Senju left the compound for the battlefield.
Kawarama: Don't die, okay?
Kawarama's voice was desperate, sad, and tinged with fear.
Tobirama didn't need to monitor his brother's chakra to understand his feelings.
Tobirama: "I won't, and I won't allow you to die either."
Everyone entered the battlefield...
The fighting raged...
This was Kawarama's second time entering a battlefield, and Tobirama's first.
The fight began, and the brothers fought fiercely against the Uchiha.
Tobirama didn't hesitate to draw his sword and kill those around him.
He didn't hesitate to use tricks, creating a pool beneath the feet of those he was fighting, causing them to lose their balance and the sword to pierce their hearts.
Tobirama was fighting... but his focus was on his brother, there, monitoring his chakra as he faced a number of adult Uchiha.
Tobirama felt Kawarama's chakra weaken, and there was fear and terror within it.
Tobirama gritted his teeth and clenched his fist. Forcefully, he dodged the Uchiha's weapon, jumped out of his seat, and turned to Kawarama. There, he saw Kawarama on the ground, raising his sword in a desperate attempt to block the incoming attack. Tobirama hadn't realized how slow he was until that moment. He stamped his foot down, ignoring the rattling and crushing sensation of his bones as he hissed in pain and tears welled up in his eyes. He saw the expression of pure terror on his brother's face. "Uchiha!!!" Tobirama shouted, hoping to attract the attention of the Uchiha, who was delivering the final blow to Kawarama. Fortunately, the Uchiha turned around...
The expression of pure rage was clearly written on Tobirama's face.
This caused the Uchiha to panic, which Tobirama exploited due to the Uchiha's distraction.
Quickly, Tobirama realized he had broken a bone in his wrist.
He decapitated the Uchiha.
He immediately stood beside his brother, raising his sword to protect him.
Fortunately,
the person Tobirama had killed was the warlord this time.
The person who was his deputy realized the unequal situation and the likelihood of losing the war doubly at the hands of the White Demon who had gone mad there.
He quickly ordered a retreat.
The Senju tried to take advantage of this and attack them.
Until Tobirama shouted, "Retreat!" Which forced the Senju to quickly follow his orders.
Tobirama turned to his older brother, noticing the wound on his waist and Kawarama's desperate attempt to stop the bleeding.
Tobirama quickly knelt beside him, ignoring that his armor had scratched his knees, which were likely bleeding by now.
He stood up with all his might and strength, and a green light appeared from his hands as he tried to at least close the wound.
He began cursing himself for not learning healing skills when he could.
His new goal was to learn medical skills when this was over...
One of the Senju walked towards them, and Tobirama recognized him as a member of the medical team.
He began to take charge of the treatment while Tobirama stood, knowing he would only be an obstacle.
He maintained his serious expression, desperate to save his brother.
"Sir..." whispered the Senju in charge of healing.
"What is it?!" Tobirama responded immediately and inadvertently shouted, "It's possible to treat it, but the master might no longer be able to fight."
It was natural for healers to hesitate when they noticed this condition, as most would refuse after hearing it and let those in need of treatment die because they were no longer useful in the war.
"Treat him!" Tobirama ordered, despair inadvertently creeping into his voice.
The healer quickly turned and returned to the treatment with greater seriousness.
Tobirama clenched his fists. He had failed, but his brother was still alive. He hoped. He watched Kawarama, who was breathing heavily, his skin turning pale, his sweat dripping, and blood dripping from his mouth as well.
Tobirama looked toward the forest and expanded his chakra to observe the surroundings, realizing what would happen upon his return.
A fight would break out.
His father would beat him, and he might kill Kawarama, but over his dead body if he wanted to touch him.
In the end, he would realize that if his father didn't kill him, he would abandon Kawarama once and for all.
Forcing them to find a place for him.
And of course, there was an ally of theirs, their cousin Touka. She would undoubtedly help them.
Finally, after 14 minutes, the healer finished, and Tobirama stepped forward, carrying Kawarama on his back and commanding, "Return."
Everyone stood, got ready, and the journey began. The Return
It was a quick trip. Tobirama was rushing back to the compound to put Kawarama in the treatment room.
And not just him.
Many of the Senju had loved ones in their care to take for treatment.
There were those who bore the burden of being informed of the death of some.
And some were happy to be safe this time.
Tobirama watched their situation... realizing how this war was affecting them. That it was causing more harm than good...that it was pointless...
Just a cycle of hatred between them...
They were losing loved ones, and the Uchiha were doing the same...and they were returning to seek revenge and lose more. There was no point in doing what they were doing! There's no benefit...just harm. They lost their loved ones, just as the Uchiha lost them. They killed the Uchiha's loved ones, just as the Uchiha did to them. It's like a child's game that keeps igniting for no reason.
Doesn't anyone really understand this nonsense?
Tobirama was psychologically destroyed...
He almost lost his brother by his side...
Or he lost half of his brother...
Because his brother has to live a life he wouldn't want to live.
He's ready for Kawarama to be extremely angry with him...
And he's also devastated by this war...
He doesn't see an end to it...
And he doesn't want to keep killing for no reason.
He's done a few missions, and he's already tired...
He's already fed up...
And he realized what's around him.
Unlike them, he wasn't enveloped in a circle of hatred, so he was able to use his mind, even though he doesn't know how long he'll live until this curse reaches him...
And he's worried about returning and meeting his father...no... meeting Butsuma. He decided a year ago that He wants nothing to do with this bastard.
Tobirama arrived at the gates of the Senju compound.
He took a breath...
and stepped into the compound.
