Chapter Text

They weren’t supposed to hear Killian saying that.

They weren’t.

Glyndon was arguing with Killian on the phone, who was scolding her on the way she skipped meals when he’s not around. She wasn’t in a good mood, and neither was he apparently because the next thing she knows, he brought up how she ‘still wants to jump off that cliff’ in a snappy and bitter tone. He hung up right after to calm down, and Glyn was left staring at the floor of her bedroom. She usually doesn't care when Killian is in a bad mood, figuring that it must be some heathen’s trouble. She didn’t think much of it. And he might be right, she never really overcame that desire to just…disappear.

Until five seconds later when her mum dropped the tray of tea she was holding.

“What?” Astrid asked, a hand over her mouth as tears sprang to her eyes. Glyn was frozen, she just stared at her mother as the woman walked closer, cradling her face in gentle hands.

“What cliff, baby?” She asked, her voice low as she took in her daughter. Astrid was already on edge with her children since Brandon attempted to take his life a few months ago, and hearing that her youngest also wanted to do the same is breaking her.

“Nothing, mum. He’s just exaggerating.” Glyn nervously laughed, brushing off her mother’s worried grip as she gulped.

“Astrid, Princess, where are you?” That was her father’s voice. Oh God.

“Right here, love.” Astrid replied, her voice shaky as she stared at her daughter’s nervous expression.

“What’s going on?” Levi asked, eyes narrowing at the tense form of his wife, only to frown when he saw the anxious face of his daughter and the broken teacup on the floor.

“Nothing is going on, Dad.” She replied, tugging her bottom lip in between her teeth.

“I think…we need to sit down for this.” Astrid said, gently guiding her daughter to the living room, her husband trailing behind her. The twins weren’t home yet, but they should be back soon.

“Mum, seriously it's nothing. You don’t have to make a big deal out of it.” Glyndon said, hands fidgeting with the fidget bracelet that Killian got for her a few weeks ago.

“The last time I didn't make ‘a big deal’ out of it, one of my children ended up in the hospital with a glass shard jammed into his neck.” Astrid snapped, voice going cold as she mentioned the incident.
Glyn flinched back at the cold voice, eyes wide at how mad her mother sounded. She frowned, feeling a sense of unease in her chest. They don’t get to feel mad. No they don’t. It's not fair. They don’t get to not notice for ages and then get mad.

“Woah, Princess, calm down. What’s going on?” Levi frowned, he’s never seen his wife this angry with their little princess, and it’s making him worry.

Astrid softened when she saw the tears in Glyn’s eyes, her baby looking so anxious as she stared down at her feet. The artist sighed, and knelt in front of her daughter with worry etched into her face.

“What cliff, sweetheart? Please, I only want to help you.” She said, stroking the side of her baby’s face with a sad smile.

“Cliff?” Levi whispered under his breath, eyes wide as he stared at his daughter. Cliff? What fucking cliff?

“Baby, please.” Astrid pleaded, only to sigh when she heard the front door open.

“You’re really pathetic, little cousin.” Eli smirked, talking to an annoyed Landon who looked on the verge of shooting him. Behind him was Brandon, rolling his eyes at both of them as Creighton snorted, patting him on the back.

The four cousins froze when they entered the living room, finding Astrid kneeling in front of Glyn, who looked like she’s…crying? Fuck, no. Landon’s eyes twitched, already planning to cut Killian up if he was the one who made her cry. Brandon looked worried, moving closer to his mother with a frown. Creighton’s eyes darkened at the sight of his little cousin crying, fists clenching. The oldest cousin looked as if he was planning to destroy someone’s life, probably Killian if it’s revealed that he caused this.

“What the fuck is going on?” Landon asked, moving to where his sister was sitting. “Was it Carson?”

When Levi shook his head in response, the sculptor frowned and turned to his mother, who looked on the verge of tears as she cupped Glyn’s face.

“Sweetheart, just tell me what he meant.” She pleaded, a trail of tears streaming down her face.

“I wanted to,” Glyn started, whispering when her mother froze in place, a hand moving to cover her mouth as she gasped, “I still do, sometimes. He knows because he saw me once.”

“I-What? Honey, why didn’t you tell me?” Astrid asked, feeling her heart shatter into tiny pieces as Glyn looked away.

“Tell you what, mum?” She mumbled, “It’s not a big deal.”

“Not a big deal! Glyn, trying to jump off a fucking cliff is a big deal!” Astrid snapped, closing her eyes when she felt all five men in the room tense.

“Jump off a fucking what now?” Levi asked, his eyes wide as he stared at his little girl. Was he so focused on other things that he failed to notice his little princess breaking in front of him?

“I beg your pardon,” Landon started, fists clenching. His baby sister. His baby sister. Tried to jump. Off a cliff. He was going to kill someone.

“Glyn.” Brandon started, looking in pain as he stared at his sister. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He was so focused on his own pain that he failed to notice his baby sister’s. His hands shook, looking over to his cousins. Creighton looked frozen; eyes wide as he stared at Glyndon. He knows how much he loved her. She calmed him down and kept him company, he generally favored her over the rest of the family.

Eli, on the other hand, wasn’t as close to her, but he still protected her like he would if he had a baby sister. He helped Landon scare off any of the boys that tried to get close to her, so the thought of his baby cousin trying to off herself angered him. She was supposed to be protected, loved and cherished.

“Baby, why didn’t you tell me?” Astrid asked, stroking her daughter’s head with a sad frown. When Glyn shrugged, Landon snapped out of the shocked state he was in and crouched in front of her, large palms cupping her face. While he was much better in terms of treating her now, she was still almost tense and wary around him.

“Why the hell would you do that?” He asked, eyes boring into hers as she flinched at his harsh tone. “Glyn, answer the damn question.”

“Lan, calm down.” Brandon muttered, squeezing his mother’s shoulder when she sniffled into Levi’s shoulder.

“Little princess, I am not above calling that rodent you’re dating and asking him.” Levi said, softening when Glyn looked up at him with wide eyes, her bottom lip quivering.

“Little princess,” Eli started, softening his voice to the max as he moved closer, “It would make us worry a lot less if you tell us, darling.”

At that, Glyn broke.

She threw herself into Landon’s arms, sobbing into his chest as he pulled her in, sighing when he felt her curl up into him. He looked around to see the rest of his family sporting similar expressions of pain and heartbreak.

“I didn’t want to bother you!” She cried out, words muffled from where she was trying to become one with Landon’s shirt.

“Baby, you can never be a bother.” Levi crooned, sitting next to his son, who was cradling Glyndon in his lap as he rocked her slowly. She sniffled, fists clenching into her brother’s shirt, crying when she felt her father kiss her forehead.

“You’re okay, you’ll be okay. I promise.” Brandon promised, patting her head gently.

And at that moment, with his kind eyes and soft smile, Glyndon believed him.

Chapter Text

Her mother was coddling her.

That was the first thought that came to Glyn’s mind as she stared at the tray of snacks in front of her.

After her breakdown yesterday, her family had decided never to leave her alone again—or at least, that’s what Eli had said when he found her crying. Now, she was curled up next to Creighton, who only pulled her closer in his sleep, his steady breaths against her hair as she rested her head against his chest.

She was waiting for her boyfriend to arrive, the one who had apparently booked a flight the moment Brandon told him she had cried. Her heart warmed at his actions, even though she had told him it was unnecessary.

“You’ll be okay,” Creighton mumbled, resting his chin on top of her head when he felt her shift. She pouted. They were all treating her like she was made of glass, as if she would break if they said the wrong thing.

“You okay, baby?” Her father’s voice broke through, and she gave him a soft smile when he gestured to his lap, inviting her over.

She curled up next to him, ignoring Creigh’s grunt of protest as she shifted away. Clutching at his shirt, she felt a soft kiss press against her temple, and she sighed in contentment at the feeling of his warmth. She loved her dad, she really did. But she couldn’t remember the last time he held her like this—without having to worry about Landon or Brandon. She’d grown used to the tension in the air when they were around, always on edge, always trying to juggle it all. But now, in the quiet of his embrace, it felt like the world had paused, just for a moment.

Just as she was about to drift into a deep sleep in her father’s arms, a deep voice echoed through the room, pulling her back to reality.

“I heard a little princess needs cheering up.”

Jonathan King appeared in the doorway, his presence filling the space, followed by her uncle, Aiden. Landon and Eli were behind them, and Glyn could only guess they must’ve told the older men about her breakdown yesterday. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight of all the familiar faces.

“Come here, little princess.” Her grandfather’s voice was soft, a tone reserved only for her and her grandmother. It made her feel special, like she could be a priority for once. The warmth in his words eased the tension she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. She stood up, her legs feeling unsteady, and almost stumbled into his arms. She closed her eyes when she felt him lift her effortlessly, the familiar comfort of his embrace settling over her. A soft kiss pressed to her head, and for a moment, everything else faded. She could’ve stayed there forever, wrapped in his protection.

He sat down carefully, still holding her in his arms, as he began talking quietly with her father. The voices around her seemed distant as she rested against him, her head resting on his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

Uncle Aiden, ever the silent observer, sat next to them. With a gentle touch, he brushed the hair out of Glyn’s face, his hand briefly patting the top of her head. His expression remained unreadable, but the small gesture spoke volumes. It’s okay, it said. She could feel the weight of his concern in that simple touch, and though he didn’t say anything, Glyn appreciated the quiet comfort he offered.

She must’ve stayed in her grandfather’s arms for hours, only waking to the familiar, soft voice of Brandon murmuring for her to wake up. Blinking groggily, she slowly took in her surroundings. At some point, she had been moved, now nestled between Brandon and Landon. The latter had an arm draped over her shoulders, his warmth lulling her back toward sleep.

When he noticed her stirring, Landon didn’t say anything—he simply pulled her closer with a sigh, pressing a quick kiss to her temple before settling back in.

“The lizard you’re dating is here,” he mumbled, voice thick with sleep as he cracked one eye open to glare toward the doorway.

Following his gaze, she spotted Killian just as he stepped inside, smirking at the seven glares directed his way. If the tension in the room fazed him, he didn’t show it. Instead, he only looked more amused, striding in with practiced ease as Astrid ushered him forward.

She gave him a soft smile, quietly murmuring a thank-you to Brandon when he shifted, making space for Killian to sit beside her. As soon as he settled, he turned to her with a bored expression—but she knew better. That look wasn’t boredom; it was an unspoken Sorry.

She shook her head at him, silently telling him it was fine, before pouting when he only rewarded her with a quick peck on the lips.

Her face flushed instantly, but she ignored the heated glares directed at her boyfriend. Killian, on the other hand, seemed to revel in them, smirking in amusement at the men watching his every move.

“You okay, baby?” Killian murmured, his voice softer now as he nuzzled into the top of her head, pulling her closer when she melted against him.

She hummed against his side, the sound soft and content. In response, his hand slid up and down her back in slow, soothing motions—though his fingers lingered a bit too close to her bum.

Levi’s eye twitched.

“Get your hands off my daughter, lizard,” he seethed, his voice dangerously low, a vein in his forehead threatening to pop.

Killian only flashed him a slow, sarcastic smile. “A bit too late for that, sir.” He twirled a strand of Glyn’s hair around his finger, his mocking gaze shifting to Landon, who had wisely moved as far away from him as possible.

“I am going to kill you one day,” the sculptor muttered, smirking when—without hesitation—everyone but their mother and Brandon nodded in agreement.

“This is the first time he’s said something useful. The world must be ending,” Creighton mumbled, lazily resting his head on his father’s shoulder.

Aiden snorted.

“Shut up. Go back to sleep,” Landon shot back, reaching over to flick his cousin’s forehead—only to be stopped mid-motion by Eli.

“Don’t tell my baby brother to shut up, moron.”

And just like that, the two broke into a petty argument, exchanging insults while everyone else ignored them.

Killian merely shook his head, amused, before glancing down at the little rabbit curled against his chest. His smirk deepened.

Take that, Kings, he thought smugly. She’s mine.
