that's right, i ended up getting assigned two consecutive games!!! i was both pleasantly surprised and excited and knew i had to make good use of that fact...so i decided to make the pages' compositions mirror each other!! ^_^
from the very beginning i knew that i wanted to make one illustration and one 4koma for each game. for these ones i decided to make the pages be half-and-half, which was a bit of a challenge especially on the illustration side lol, but it all worked out as you can see👍(even though looking back these honestly arent the greatest lol...but hey it was my very first time doing something of this sort ;P)

for the illustrations, my goal was to draw as many songs and characters as possible (not all of them). GF6dm5 was quite a challenge in that regard due to its...lack of real characters lol. characters are what im best at drawing so it ended up working out much better for GF7dm6 which has a lot more in comparison; with GF6dm5 i had to get more creative with it, work with what i had (more abstract concepts for movies, since it's an older game and all)
for the 4komas/comics/manga/whatever you wanna call em lmao, my goal was to basically crossover at least 2 songs(movies) from the respective games and make a little gag comic about them. i decided on making them wordless because this was a japanese-run fanzine in which i was the only non-japanese person participating lmao, and my knowledge of the language was far too basic at the time. plus i wanted to see if i could tell a good(rather funny) story without words! which uh i think i did!! as for them being black and white, well uh honestly i wanted them to look like they came from an old black and white-printed doujinshi lmao, but also it helps to make the colors of the illustration pop out more ^_^

although i hadn't played either game when they were available in arcades (i mean, i couldnt lmao, also i actually did get to play GF7dm6 once over a yr ago it was cool), i did my best to do them justice!!! i adore their soundtracks and aesthetics and hope that those who did play them back then enjoy these artworks (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

as you can see, for this game i decided to make the illustration and manga one full page each! meaning i'd contributed 4 pages in total, the most out of everyone who'd participated (tbf i got assigned 3 games, one of only 2 people that were lmao)...
compared to the past 2 games, this game not only has more songs, but also many more movie characters!! so many that there were some that i was so sad(more like disappointed in myself lmao) i couldn't figure out how to include orz...but, again, the goal was to draw as many as possible, not all of them. and that i certainly did!!! b(￣▽￣)d

way back then, i honestly wasn't sure if i could finish the illustration...i mean, rather than about half a page, it was an entire page, and i had so many characters to fill it up with!!! plus of course i was working on three other pages ...i thought that if worse came to worse, my only GFDM V page would be the manga. but, of course, as you can see, i managed!!!!! and i finished it!!!!!!! \(^o^)/
anyhow, i had lots of characters to work with for sure, and i had lots of fun with it!!! some came out better than others ofc (baby's first nocturne no9 art...o_o), but my goal was to rep as many of my fav songs/characters as possible and i hope i did that alright ^_^

as for the manga...this one has color and words!!!!!!! in japanese!!!!!!!! and it's also...technically not a 4koma lol? i slashed the 3rd panel in two but it in essence is one. yeah
now, with my worse-than-N5 level japanese at the time (for reference, i'm currently studying N4), i used the power of DeepL and my friend who was (and is) far more fluent than me to help with the dialogue here. was told by the organizer that it was perfect, and looking back at it now, yeah that is perfectly coherent japanese b(￣▽￣)d
i felt like such a genius when i came up with the idea for this one...i love hitoribocchi and looks! Shizuku is a young teen who wants to get with a boy, Ami is an older teen who has dated lots of boys, Shizuku looks up to and admires Ami for that!!! but, she doesn't know the full story....that's the joke!!!
i should probably touch on the title of this one, lol. "Lonely Girl" is a vague phrase...it's the official translation of hitoribocchi's title (literally means "loneliness"). thats it really lmao i couldnt come up with anything better. either Ami or Shizuku could be the "lonely girl" in question, or both, up your interpretation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

fun fact: although i had 2 games to work on already, i happily volunteered to take this one since it hadn't been assigned to anyone! thankfully this game has a console port that i'm proud to say i've played a lot, so i did my best to do it justice and rep the songs i love playing!!! i hope that those who've played either the arcade or console versions enjoy these artworks (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

btw i was so proud of myself for doing the GF7dm6 cameo...i just so happened to also be doing the game where 2 characters originally from it reappear in a movie!!!! and also notice how Ami and Shizuku in the illustration are leaning toward the manga page :3
