Born to Shout: Turning up the Volume

Summary:

What if Izuku Midoriya had a Quirk all along? What if his biological father was a famous Pro Hero? And what if that Pro Hero was none other than the electrifying DJ Hero: Present Mic?

Izuku Midoriya grew up believing two truths: he was born quirkless, and his father was a man working overseas. However, a series of revelations unravel the truth: Izuku is Hizashi Yamada’s biological son, a fact even Hizashi didn’t know.

Unbeknownst to Izuku, his mother, Inko Midoriya, had hidden the truth for years. Izuku’s powerful sound-based Quirk had manifested when he was just a toddler, much like his father Hizashi Yamada’s abilities. Fearing that Izuku might be overwhelmed by his Quirk—or worse, drawn into the dangerous world of heroics—Inko secretly placed Quirk dampeners into his clothing to suppress his abilities.

Shocked and overwhelmed, Izuku confronts his mother, only to learn that she had hidden the truth for years, fabricating a story about his father to protect him. As Hizashi and Izuku navigate their newfound bond, Izuku begins training to master his Quirk, discovering that his journey to heroism was never as impossible as he was once told.

Notes:

This was inspired by a story I read on Wattpad a while back called 'My Son' where Hizashi Yamada is revealed to be Izuku's biological father.

Chapter 1: Prologue: "The Bloodline Test"

Chapter Text

The day began like any other at U.A. High, but the announcement from Principal Nezu during morning homeroom was anything but ordinary.

"ATTENTION, ALL STUDENTS AND FACULTY!!! Due to a recent data breach that compromised sensitive information about U.A.’s students and staff, we will be conducting mandatory blood tests,” Nezu explained, his tone unusually serious. “This measure will help ensure the safety and authenticity of everyone here. Rest assured, this is for precautionary purposes only.”

"I can't believe Principal Nezu is making us take a blood test!!!" Uraraka groans. She has always had a weird phobia of needles and the sight of blood, so the fact that their school was forcing the students and faculty to take a blood exam did not sit well with her.

"I know right? This feels like something straight out of a spy movie!” Kaminari said, laughing nervously.

“More like a horror movie,” Jirou muttered, arms crossed.

When the time came, each student and faculty member was ushered into Recovery Girl's office for their mandatory blood examination. Recovery Girl oversaw the process, assisted by a few pro heroes, including All Might and Eraserhead.

When the time came for Midoriya's examination, Izuku Midoriya stood frozen in place, anxiety bubbling in his chest. "Young Midoriya, I promise this process will be quick and painless," All Might tries to assure his predecessor.

When it was Izuku’s turn, he rolled up his sleeve and tried to ignore the racing of his heart. The needle prick was nothing compared to the whirlwind of questions swirling in his mind. What would they even do with the results?

Afterward, Izuku waves to both Ochako and Tenya who are nervous about getting their blood examinations. "It wasn't that bad. Trust me, there is nothing to be worried about," Midoriya tries to assure his friends.

Once Uraraka has done her blood examination, she walks over to Midoriya who is talking with his boyfriend of two months, 'Todoroki Shoto'. "That was terrifying, I almost passed out when I saw them drawing my blood," Uraraka groans. Izuku and Shoto both let out a little laugh, "But, you were right Deku-kun it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I guess I should learn how to tolerate looking at blood and needles though, considering we're trying to become Pro Heroes and all."

"Apparently. Once all of the faculty is finished getting their blood tests done, Principal Nezu is going to personally look through our results, to make sure that none of us are related to any villains. Afterward, they're going to let us look through our family trees to see if we're related to any previous Pro Heroes." Uraraka explains waving to Tenya once he is finished.

"Aizawa-Sensei told me to tell the rest of you to go back to class now that you've had your blood drawn. There should be a teacher waiting for us in our classroom, " class president Tenya Iida informs his classmates with one of his usual hand-chopping motions.

Once they got back to class, they each sat down in their seats, as Yaomomo walked into the classroom.

The R-rated hero Midnight walked into the classroom about five minutes later.

"Good Afternoon students, I will be watching you for the next fifteen minutes until Aizawa is finished."

"I wonder when they're going to release the results." Sero Hanta commented.

"Principal Nezu told us that the results of our mandatory blood examinations should be given out by tomorrow morning. He has sent them off to a facility here on campus, and he will try his best to get the results out to you students as quickly as possible once he is finished looking through the information." Midnight explains to the students.

The black-haired teacher known as 'Eraserhead' walked into the classroom about fifteen minutes later. "Alright, calm down now class. Since the blood examinations took up the majority of the class period, Principal Nezu has decided to give you students the rest of the day off, he decided that it would be best if you students got some rest. So class is now dismissed. Please return to the UA Dormitories and enjoy the rest of your day." The tired teacher says before pulling out his infamous yellow sleeping bag and taking a nap on the floor.

"Alright!!! Let's go have a sleepover in my room!!!" Ashido exclaims excitedly to the other girls of Class 1-A.

"Hey, Izuku are you alright?" Shoto asks after he notices how tired his green-haired boyfriend looks.

"Yeah, I'm fine thanks for asking though Sho-kun." Izuku yawns. "I'm just a little tired, lets go back to the dorms, I kinda wanna take a quick nap and then you and I can finish that movie that we started the other night."

"Alright, let's go," Shoto says before taking the greenette's arm and returning to the dormitories.

The Next Day

Izuku walked in and sat down at his desk. "Hey, Shoto do you wanna go see the new 'All Might' movie with me later this week? We haven't exactly gone out on a date in a while." Izuku asks his boyfriend in a flustered tone.

"Sure. Is Friday alright with you? I was planning on visiting my mother in the hospital on Thursday." The half-hot half-cold student replied.

"Friday is perfect. It gives me enough time to plan out our date. The two of us could go to the mall together, and then we could go watch that new All Might movie afterward." Izuku tells his boyfriend.

"It's a date! I've been wanting to see the new All Might movie, I heard they turned it into a Japanese Anime film." Shoto says with a smile.

"Alright, I'll make sure to tell Aizawa-Sensei that we're planning on going to see a movie on Friday after school. That way he can make sure that the two of us have a chaperone, because of what happened the last time we went to the mall by ourselves," Izuku winces just thinking about his encounter with Shigaraki at the mall.

Around a minute before the bell rang, Ochako ran in, panting and out of breath. She quickly made her way to her seat and sat down. "Sorry, I'm late Sensei!!! I accidentally over slept and ran from the dorms here." Uraraka says trying to catch her breath.

Izuku chuckles.

Tenya walks over to his desk and yells that class is about to begin.

Everyone began to quiet down, once the bell rang. And Aizawa walked up to the front of the classroom.

"Alright class, you're blood results from the tests yesterday have been reviewed and you are more than welcome to walk up here and get your results. Also, Midoriya, Principal Nezu has dismissed you from this lesson and has also requested to see you in the Teacher's lounge. So please gather your things, because you might be out of school for the rest of the day."

Midoriya began to feel eyes looking at him from every direction, he had no idea what was going on. He hasn't gotten into any altercations with villains in the last two weeks.

"Secondly, today's English lessons with Present Mic has been canceled due to a personal matter. So instead we will be training at Ground Beta for the remainder of the class period. You're dismissed now Midoriya."

Midoriya nods before grabbing his belongings and standing up. He walked out of the class room and began making his way to the teachers lounge. He bit his lip nervously, before stopping at the door and knocking.

The door opens immediately.

"H-Hey All Might, is something wrong?" Midoriya asks confused and worried that he might've done something wrong.

"No, nothing's wrong Young Midoriya please come inside and take a seat on the couch next to Mic."

"Alright, I know that the two of you are probably wondering why you've been called here, so please allow me to explain." Nezu says as Present Mic takes a seat on the couch next to Midoriya.

"After a closer look at both of your blood results from yesterday's examinations, we discovered something that we think the two of you should know about." Nezu says.

"Wait, what does this have to do with the two of us? If there is a problem with the blood results, shouldn't you just alert the other teachers." Midoriya says still confused about why he was called.

All Might placed two envelopes down on the table in front of them.

"I'll be taking my leave now, but please gentlemen feel free to read the information inside of those envelopes. They include your results from the examination yesterday.

Hizashi and Izuku look at one another in confusion.

Just why were the two of them called here, and what was going on?

"Well, let's just get this conversation over with." All Migth says before handing them each an envelope with their names printed on it.

Chapter 2: Unspoken Truths: Family in the Spotlight

Chapter Text

Hizashi opens the envelope that All Might has handed to him.

A loud gasp echos throughout the teacher's lounge as Present Mic reads through the results printed on his paper.

Izuku's lets out a similar gasp as he finally reads through his DNA blood test results.

Mother: Inko Midoriya

Father: Hizashi Yamada

Quirk: Harmonic Force: Sound Barrier

Relations: Biological son of the DJ Hero: Present Mic

Izuku looks up at All Might, mouth gaping before turning to Present Mic who switches their papers to make sure that Nezu wasn't just playing a joke on him.

(Present Mic's results)

Name: Hizashi Yamada

Quirk: Voice

Relations: Izuku Midoriya (Biological Son)

Hizashi gasps again once he reads the information on Izuku's paperwork, "Since when did I have a son? I need to talk to Shota about this." Hizashi mumbles under his breath.

"Since when were you, my father?" Izuku asks while looking at his teacher- No his Biological father straight in the eyes.

Hizashi realized that Izuku had the same eye color as him, he even had indistinguishable strands of blonde hair similar to his own. There was no doubt that this boy was his. But why was he only recognizing this now?

"I have to talk to my mother about this!! It doesn't make sense, she always told me that my father was over seas working on a business trip." Izuku mumbles, with a shocked tone in his voice.

"Yeah, we both should probably talk to your mother about this kid. She kept this a secret from both of us, we'll make sure to corner her too." Hizashi nods in agreement.

"Wait a second, if you're my father. Than what should I call you?" Izuku asks the blond man in front of him.

"You can call me whatever you want to Little Listener, I don't mind. If you're uncomfortable with calling me Dad or Papa, then call me Mic or Zashi." The hero replies.

Izuku just bites his lip.

"Ok, so what do we do now?" Izuku mumbles.

"Well, Nezu mentioned that I could pull you out of school for a few hours if I wanted to. So do you want to go somewhere, little listener? We should probably bond and get to know one another a bit more." Hizashi tells his son before standing up.

"Sure, we can go somewhere. I really want to get to know you Dad." Izuku says the word still fresh on his lips. He had grown up without a father so it would definitely take some getting used to.

Hizashi nods before pulling out his cell phone and texting his husband 'Eraserhead'.

Mic's phone

Hizashi- Hey. I'm going to be taking Izuku off campus for a little while.

Shouta- Alright. Hizashi, I understand that you're probably very confused right now. That's how I felt this morning when Nezu told me that Problem Child was your son.

Hizashi- Sho, I had no idea. Now I can't help but fell angry at his mother for never telling me that Izuku even existed. I mean I've always felt drawn to the little listener but I never understood why.

Hizashi- The little listener and I have decided to confront his mother together later today, so we might be out for the majority of the day.

Shota- Alright, be careful. I'll see you when you get back. Love you🖤

Hizashi- Love you too Sho 😘

"Let's hold on to these DNA results. We don't want any villains to get a copy of these." Hizashi says before folding up both DNA test result papers and placing them in the pocket of his leather jacket.

Izuku stands up.

"I just texted Shota, he said that you're excused from class for the entire day." Hizashi explains, noticing the confused look on his son's face.

Izuku just noticed that Hizashi seemed to be wearing his hair down, and he was mostly changed out of his Hero costume, with only his signature leather jacket and directional speaker on.

"Don't worry Little Listener, I'll take my speaker off in a little bit. Now come on, there was something weird that I noticed about your DNA results that I want to talk to you about." Hizashi says before putting his directional speaker down on his desk, with Izuku walking out of the teacher's lounge behind him.

They walk out of the school together, Izuku just left his bag in the teacher's lounge because All Might promised that he would bring his bag back to the dorms later on.

Hizashi led his son to a nearby Bodega and ordered a few items before the two sat down on a bench.

"I have a question, are you aware that you have more than one quirk?" Hizashi says.

"More than one quirk? What are you talking about? I only have one quirk. It's called OFA." Midoriya explains in confusion.

Hizashi frowns. "No, you definitely have more than one quirk. The DNA results said that you have a quirk called 'Harmonic Force: Sound Barrier' which is an enhanced version of my Voice quirk." He explains, confusing Izuku even more.

"Oh, well the only quirk I'm aware of is OFA which is a power-enhancing quirk." Izuku mumbles.

Hizashi nods, before getting up to pick up the Slurpee and energy drink that he purchased a few minutes ago. "Here," Hizashi hands his son a blue raspberry Slurpee.

"Thank you," Izuku mumbles again. It was king of embarrassing how short he looked compared to the tall DJ Hero in front of him.

Hizashi snorts, "Don't worry kid, you'll eventually grow to be as tall as Todoroki." Hizashi says with a grin.

Izuku blushes in embarrassment.

"There's no reason to be embarrassed Little Listener, Shota was taller than be by at least 5 inches up our last year at UA, I was around you're current height for over half of my life." Hizashi says now blushing in embarrassment himself. He remembered how his middle school classmates used to tease him about his height, one of them even calling him 'a short little stack of pancakes'.

"I find that very hard to believe, dear father of mine," Deku says with a snort of his own.

Hizashi stopped and looked at Izuku before smiling, "Well believe it, dear son of mine," he retorted with a grin.

'Son' he could get used to calling the green-haired boy that. Now that he was officially his. They just had to get through the conversation with his mother first.

Izuku and Hizashi walk around for a little while before they eventually decide to just bite the dust and confront Inko.

They decided it was probably better now, than later. While the topic of Izuku being his Biological son was still fresh on their minds.

Izuku knocked on the door of his mother's apartment, while Hizashi struggled not get upset all over again.

Inko answered the door, "Izuku? What are you doing her-" Inko stops right in her tracks once she notices Present Mic standing there with him and realizes what was going on.

"I knew you would figure out the truth eventually, come inside both of you." She mutters.

They both follow Inko into the apartment.

Izuku drags Hizashi to the couch and makes his newly discovered father sit down next to him.

Hizashi just smiles and wraps a protective arm around the boy, who cuddles into his side in response to his father's affection.

"Look, I know that the two of you are probably confused. And you both want answers. So go ahead, ask whatever you wish." Inko says before lowering her head.

"Mom, how could you not tell me that my father has been in Japan this entire time? You lied to me my entire life and said that he was working over seas in America." Izuku says in a stern voice which was unusual for the boy who was normally a walking ray of sunshine.

"And how could you not tell me that I had a son. The only reason why I know that Izuku is my son is because UA made the students and faculty take a blood examination yesterday. And Principal NEzu called us both to the teacher's lounge and showed us the DNA results." Hizashi says just as sternly trying his best not to lash out in anger.

"We were both young and stupid back when the two of us were dating. So when you graduated from UA and became a Pro Hero, I just didn't know how to tell you about Izuku. Especially after I heard that you had gotten married to Eraserhead. So I just left him out of your life." Inko says trying explain herself.

"Then why didn't you tell me that I had a quirk this entire time mom? You made me think that I was quirkless for my entire life, and now I just learned that I've had a powerful quirk of my own this entire time. Do you realize how much I went through because people learned I was 'quirkless'. I got bullied badly in middle school and the only friend I had for years was Kacchan. My teachers and classmates back in middle school used to pick on me and call me a bunch of horrible named because they thought I was quirkless." Izuku says angrily. He didn't even care if Present Mic learned about how he got One For All from All Might, because he knew that at least his father at least cared about him enough to tell him about his quirk.

"Izuku-" Inko starts before cutting herself off once she sees how upset her son was.

'Quirkless'? What did Izuku mean when he said that he was quirkless? His son told him in the park that he had a quirk called 'OFA' whatever that was. So learning that his son was bullied for not having a quirk confused Hizashi, but it also made him even more upset with Inko.

"Izuku, the truth is that I've been hiding quirk dampeners in your clothing since you were four years old. When the doctor told me that you had developed a quirk that was exactly like your fathers, I decided to make it my mission for you to never find out about your quirk-"

'Harmonic Force: Sound Barrier', That's the name of my quirk mom, and do you want to know how I know that? Because Dad at least had the decency to tell me and ask me about it this morning. I just don't get it mom, why would you lie to me about my quirk? You used to always make it seem like I was disappointing you because I didn't have a quirk, and now I'm figuring out that YOU are the reason why I never had a quirk. You're the reason why I got bullied in middle school. You're the reason why I almost decided to listen to my bully and take a swan dive off the roof in middle school!!!" Izuku shouts before storming off, with tears falling down his face. 'How could his mother lie to him like this? He didn't understand.'

Hizashi got up from the couch the moment Izuku ran off and ran after him. He would talk to Inko about this later, but now his son was his main priority. He had to make sure he was OK. He just learned that Izuku was his kid, and he wasn't going to lose him, after he just learned the truth.

Chapter 3: The Weight of Lies"

Chapter Text

Izuku ran out of his mother's apartment as fast as he could tears streaming down his face. He didn't know where he was going or what he was going to do when he got there, he just knew that he needed to get out of there. His mother just blatantly confessed to canceling his quirk ever since he was a child.

Izuku knew that he probably would've lashed out at his mother even more if he hadn't gotten out of there, he was beginning to run out to breath.

"Izuku wait!!!" Present Mic's voice could be heard from a distance. And Izuku whipped around to find his father running after, only stopping to catch his own breath once he gets to where Izuku was standing.

Once Hizashi catches his breath he pulls the green-haired boy to his chest and gives him a huge hug. Izuku melts into his father's arms almost instantly and allows himself to be comforted by the Pro Hero.

"I'm sorry for running off like that. I just couldn't put my feelings into words." Izuku tries to apologize before sniffling, more tears falling from his eyes.

"DON'T!!! Apologize little listener, you have no reason to apologize for anything. None of this was your fault and you have every right to be upset." Hizashi tells the boy sternly and wholeheartedly. "Now, come on. Let's start heading back to UA, huh? We can deal with your mother later. And trust me when I tell you this kid, Inko will not be getting away with what she did to you. Because even though she didn't directly hit you and 'abuse you' she admitted to dampening you quirk for years behind your back, which falls directly under child neglect."

Izuku looks up at Hizashi and smiles, "Thank you. My mother used to always make me feel like I was a burden on her because I was supposedly quirkless. And then I met All Might back in middle school and that all changed. At least I thought it did, now I'm learning that I was never quirkless. That she practically took my quirk away from me because she didn't want me to know about who my true father is." Izuku says as they walk towards the nearby subway station.

Hizashi wanted to ask questions. He wanted to ask what Izuku meant when he said that he was 'quirkless' until he met All Might, but he refrained from doing so. He was sure that the boy would open up eventually and that he would tell him the truth. But right now he was too upset with his mother to even hold a simple conversation. And so was Hizashi. How dare Inko not only keep his son out of his life but remove every trace of his existence by dampening his son's quirk. He was going to have a long conversation with Shota and All Might about this later when they got back, because that was inexcusable.

Once Izuku and Hizashi make it back to the Dormitory, its already about 7 P.M.

"Hey Kid, how about you come with me to the teacher's dorms for a little while? I'm sure Shota wouldn't mind considering you're my kid and all. I would love to keep getting to know you if you want." Hizashi says with a small smile.

Izuku gives the taller man a small smile, before giving a firm nod. He really wanted to learn more about his father too. Since he didn't find out about him until earlier that day.

Hizashi beamed at Izuku's response, ruffling the boy's messy green hair gently. “Alright, little listener, let’s go. We’ve got a lot to talk about, but no rush. One step at a time, yeah?”

As they made their way to the teachers’ dorms, Hizashi made a conscious effort to keep the mood light, cracking small jokes and pointing out random things to distract Izuku from the storm of emotions he was clearly still processing.

The teachers’ dormitory was quieter than usual, with most staff either still working or resting in their rooms. Hizashi led Izuku to his quarters, the door adorned with a bright sticker of a microphone and a pair of sunglasses.

“Welcome to my humble abode!” Hizashi said with a dramatic flourish, stepping inside. The room was exactly what Izuku would’ve expected from Present Mic: vibrant posters of famous bands and heroes covered the walls, a sleek sound system sat in one corner, and various knick-knacks were scattered about in organized chaos.

“Sorry if it’s a little loud for your taste—figuratively speaking, of course!” Hizashi chuckled as he motioned for Izuku to sit on the couch.

Izuku couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh, feeling a warmth in his chest he hadn’t expected. “No, it’s… it’s nice. It feels like you.”

Hizashi’s grin softened into something more genuine. “Thanks, kid. That means a lot.”

As they settled in, Hizashi brought out two steaming cups of tea, placing one in front of Izuku. “Figured you could use something warm to calm your nerves.”

Izuku took the cup, holding it in his hands as if the heat could somehow soothe his fractured heart. For a moment, they sat in companionable silence.

Finally, Hizashi spoke. “I know today was… overwhelming. And honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it too. But I want you to know something, Izuku.”

Izuku looked up, his green eyes wide and vulnerable.

Hizashi leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he looked his son in the eye. “You’re not a burden. You were never a burden. And now that I know you’re my son, I’m gonna do everything I can to make up for the time we’ve lost.”

Izuku felt tears welling up again, but this time, they were tears of gratitude. “Thank you… Dad.” The word felt foreign on his tongue, but it also felt right.

Hizashi’s eyes widened, and for a moment, he looked like he might cry too. But instead, he laughed, loud and full of joy, and pulled Izuku into another hug.

They stayed like that for a while, both finding comfort in the new bond they were forming.

Eventually, Hizashi pulled back and smirked. “Alright, little listener. Here’s the plan: you and me, we’re gonna figure this out together. Your Quirk, your training, all of it. No more secrets, no more holding back. Sound good?”

Izuku nodded, a spark of determination returning to his eyes. “Sounds good.”

“Awesome!” Hizashi stood, clapping his hands together. “Now, how about we start with some basics? Let’s see what that voice of yours can do!”

For the first time in what felt like forever, Izuku smiled—really smiled. He didn’t know what the future held, but with his father by his side, he felt like he could face anything.

And together, they would make sure the world heard the voice of Izuku Midoriya, loud and clear.

Chapter 4: A Quiet Moment

Chapter Text

Shota Aizawa dragged himself through the hallway of the teacher's dormitory, exhaustion weighing heavily on his shoulders. Another long day of wrangling unruly students and dealing with UA's never-ending administrative headaches had left him craving his bed and a good night's sleep.

As he approached Hizashi’s quarters, the faint glow of light spilling out from beneath the door caught his attention. Hizashi’s still awake? he thought. It wasn’t unusual for his husband to stay up late, but tonight was different. He figured that Hizashi was probably just trying to wrap his head around the fact that Izuku was his biological son. So knowing his husband, the blonde was probably pacing back and forth in his dorm room. The two males had an adjoining door that connected both of their dorms.

Shota paused outside the door when he heard the soft hum of Hizashi’s voice. Quiet wasn’t a word he typically associated with his dear husband, but the tone was gentle, almost soothing. Curiosity piqued, Shota cracked the door open slightly and peered inside.

The sight made him freeze.

On the couch, Hizashi sat with Izuku curled up against his side, the boy’s head resting on his father’s chest. Hizashi had one arm draped protectively around Izuku, his hand absently combing through the boy’s messy green hair. Izuku’s eyes were closed, his breathing slow and even as he slept soundly.

The warmth and tenderness of the scene were unlike anything Shota had ever seen from his usually boisterous friend. It was rare to see Hizashi so calm, and the sight stirred something deep within Shota.

He couldn’t resist. Pulling his phone from his pocket, Shota quickly snapped a photo. The soft click of the camera went unnoticed by the pair on the couch. Satisfied with his stealth, Shota slid the door open fully and stepped inside.

“Enjoying family bonding time?” he asked dryly, though the faint smirk on his face betrayed his amusement.

Hizashi looked up, startled at first, but his expression quickly softened. “Shota! You’re back.”

Shota raised an eyebrow, glancing pointedly at the boy asleep against Hizashi. “Looks like you're little walk went well. Care to explain?”

Hizashi sighed, gently shifting to ensure Izuku stayed comfortable. “Yeah, you did miss a lot. But let’s not wake the kid. I’ll fill you in.” He gestured for Shota to take the armchair across from him.

Once Shota was seated, Hizashi leaned back, his free hand resting on Izuku’s shoulder. “So… turns out I have a son.”

Shota blinked, his expression unreadable. “Problem Child, yeah I know Hizashi, we've established this continue.”

Hizashi just sighed and looked at his husband, "Sho, I never even knew that Izuku was my son until today. His mother, Inko never told me about him. Apparently, she kept it a secret from both of us, and she went as far as dampening Izuku’s Quirk so that he wouldn't figure out the truth.”

Shota’s brow furrowed, his lips pressing into a thin line. “She… dampened his Quirk? For years?”

“Yeah.” Hizashi’s voice was heavy with anger and sadness. “She confessed to him earlier today. The Little Listener ran out of her apartment, crying his eyes out. I found him, comforted him, and brought him back here. Poor guy’s been through hell and back.”

Shota leaned back, crossing his arms as he processed the information. “And how are you holding up? You know considering that you have a surprise kid now. Not that you didn't already look at Problem Child like he was your son before, but now it's official."

Hizashi let out a deep breath, his hand still gently stroking Izuku’s hair. “Honestly, Sho? My mind is all over the place. I’m thrilled to have him in my life now, but I’m also furious at Inko for keeping him from me—and for making him believe he was quirkless. You should've seen her back in her apartment earlier she could barely speak up for herself, because she knew she was in the wrong.”

Shota nodded slowly. “You planning to confront her again?”

“Oh, absolutely,” Hizashi said, his voice firm. “But not until Izuku’s ready. This is his fight as much as it is mine, and I don’t want to push him into anything before he’s ready. You should've seen how upset he was earlier though, Sho. He stormed out of Inko's apartment crying and I had to go running after him. Inko didn't even move a muscle and that's just making me even angrier at her. He told me that she's treated him like he's been a burden his entire life.”

Shota stared at his husband for a moment, anger pulsing through his own eyes, before he stared down at the boy lying in his husband's lap. “He seems comfortable with you. Just about as comfortable he is with All Might, if not more. That’s a good sign. It means that he views you as a parent who he can talk to when he's upset and someone who will comfort him when he's crying. He views you as his father and not just the 'GREAT DJ HERO: PRESENT MIC' anymore.”

Hizashi smiled, his gaze softening as he looked down at Izuku. “Yeah. He’s a good kid, Shota. I don’t know how I missed out on raising him, but I’m not going to miss out anymore. If Inko isn't going to treat him and raise Izuku properly the way a parent should, then I'm going to. I don't care what she tries to tell me or tries to do, dampening Izuku's quirk is inexcusable Sho. And my heart just aches for him Sho.”

Shota's eyes were seeping with shock and anger towards HIS Problem Child's mother. Izuku was officially his PROBLEM CHILD now, considering he's Hizashi's biological kid, which meant that they could technically file for full custody over the young boy. And since they lived at the UA dorms themselves they would be able to properly look over him and properly raise him. Hizashi could teach him how to use his quirk.

"You said that Problem Child had another quirk when you texted me earlier, what is it Zashi?" Shota asks his husband out of curiosity though he had a feeling he knew what the answer was.

"Izuku has a second quirk called Harmonic Force: Sound Barrier which is apparently just like my quirk except even more advanced. And Inko just took that away from him for years, and she couldn't even tell us why she did it." Hizashi whispers.

"I think this situation, is definitely something that is worth bringing up to Nezu and possibly the other staff members, because there is a chance that Inko could come to UA one day looking for Problem Child once he learns how to control his second quirk."

Hizashi nodded. “Thanks, Shota. For everything. You're the best husband I could've ever wished for even after this huge bomb about me having a kid that I didn't know about was dropped on you. You're still just as supportive as you always are. Even under that handsome glare of yours.”

As Shota went to his room to get clothes, Hizashi glanced down at Izuku, his heart swelling with love and determination. No matter what challenges lied ahead, he was ready—and he wasn’t going to let anything stand in the way of being the father Izuku deserved.

Shota pulled out his phone and dialed a number, "Toshinori. Yeah it's me Shota, we need to have a conversation about Problem Child and his mother. Hizashi told me some unsettling things about the way Mrs.Midoriya has been treating Problem Child since he was a kid. And I think it is definitely worth talking to you about."

Shota opened the door and walked back into Hizashi's dorm through the adjoining door and whispered, "I just got off the phone with All Might, he said that he wants to sit down and have a conversation just the three of us about Pro- Izuku tomorrow after school. He said that he wants you to tell him everything that you just told me. Toshinori cares about Problem Child just as much as you do so I thought it would be a good idea to let him know about Mrs. Midoriya's treatment of Problem Child."

"Yeah, you're right. I know Izuku told me that he was planning on hanging out with his friends after school tomorrow while we were walking around the park earlier today. So we should be able to have a conversation then, but Inko can't get away with this Sho. Izuku said that he almost- That he jumped off a roof back in middle school because of how people treated him after his mother called him quirkless. Sho, I can't just let that slide. She said that she has been dampening his quirk since he was four years old." Hizashi whisper-yells with his son still fast asleep in his lap.

"What? Problem Child- I think at some point we're gonna have to schedule an appointment with Hound Dog so that he can talk about his bullying in Middle School. I've heard Bakugou talk about it a few times, but I never realized it was that bad."

"I think you're right Sho."

Chapter 5: "The Truth Behind the Silence"

Chapter Text

The Next Day

Morning sunlight streamed through the windows of the teacher’s dormitory as Shota and Hizashi prepared for another busy day at UA.

Izuku had stirred awake earlier, groggy but reassured by Hizashi’s comforting words and Shota’s subtle presence. Now, the trio walked five minutes around campus to school together, the quiet hum of the nearby cityscape providing a tranquil backdrop.

Izuku, dressed in his usual UA uniform, walked a step ahead, his green curls catching the light. Hizashi kept glancing at him, a soft smile tugging at his lips. Shota, as usual, remained silent, his sharp gaze scanning the large campus and occasionally flicking to Izuku.

"Hey, are you feeling better now, Little Listener?" Hizashi asked gently, breaking the silence.

Izuku nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. “Yeah… I mean, it’s a lot to process, but I’m okay. Thanks for letting me stay over last night.”

“Anytime, kiddo,” Hizashi replied, ruffling Izuku’s hair playfully.

Shota smirked at the exchange but remained quiet. He was proud of how seamlessly Hizashi was stepping into his new role as a father.

As they approached UA, Izuku perked up, spotting his friends waiting for him at the gates. Ochaco waved enthusiastically, and Iida stood beside her, ever the picture of formality. Todoroki leaned casually against the wall, nodding in acknowledgment when Izuku approached. Bakugou was there too, arms crossed and scowling as usual, though his eyes softened briefly when they landed on Izuku, his childhood friend whom he had known since he was four years old.

“Morning, Deku!” Ochaco chirped, her smile bright.

“Morning, everyone!” Izuku greeted, his mood visibly lightening as he joined his friends.

Hizashi and Shota exchanged a glance.

“He’s in good hands,” Shota muttered.

“Yeah,” Hizashi agreed, though his eyes lingered on Izuku for a moment longer before they turned toward the faculty entrance.

"So, what the hell happened yesterday Deku? Why did that rat call you to the teacher's lounge?" Bakugou asks in his usual gruff voice.

"It's a long story, I'll explain later. But we should probably start walking to class." Midoriya says.

"That is an excellent idea Midoriya, let us go. As Class President, I shall take the pleasure of guiding the rest of you to the class room, now come on we don't want to be late." Iida says with his normal chopping motions.

Izuku chuckles, "Somethings never change."

"Yeah, you're right Deku-kun. You know, we were all worried about you yesterday when you didn't come back to the dorms. All Might had dropped off your bags and you never came back." Ochako says as the group of students begins following Tenya to class.

"Yeah, like I told Kacchan, I'll explain what happened eventually, but right now I'm still trying to process a few things."

"Hey, take your time Deku-kun, there's no rush. Just know that you can always come talk to me, whenever something is bothering you." Uraraka says assuringly.

"Thanks Ochako. You're one of the best friends I've ever had."

"No Problem. Now we should probably go before Iida lectures us about being late to class again. You should've heard him yesterday after you left, he gave me a ten-minute speech about setting my alarm and making sure I go to sleep at a 'proper' time." Uraraka says with an eyeroll.

Izuku snorts, before nodding and following his best friend into the UA building. He was going to be ok.

Later That Afternoon

"Hey, Mr.Aizawa? Do you mind if Uraraka, Shinso, Tenya, Shoto, and I go to the mall for a couple of hours? We made plans earlier this week." Izuku asks in a mumbled voice. Aizawa-sensei was a force to be reckoned with.

"Of course, Problem Child. Midnight agreed to go along with you just in case any villains decide to attack. Make sure that the five of you are back by 8 P.M at the latest. And please text either me or Mic if you need anything."

"Ok, thanks Aizawa-sensei."

Izuku had left school with his friends to hang out, leaving Shota and Hizashi free for their meeting with Toshinori. All Might waited for them in the faculty lounge, his casual outfit and warm demeanor belying the serious conversation ahead.

"Thanks for meeting with us Toshinori." Shota said, his voice low.

All Might nodded. "Of course. Shota, yesterday over the phone you told me you wanted to speak about Young Midoriya correct?"

"Yes, as you know the Little Listener is my son. And yesterday when the two of us went to speak to his mother about it, she revealed a few things." Hizashi says before he recounted everything from the previous day—Inko’s confession, the dampening of Izuku’s quirk, and the emotional toll it had taken on the boy.

Toshinori’s face darkened as he listened, his hands clenching into fists. "I never knew that Inko was capable of something like that. She has always been such a kind woman. How could I have not seen this sooner?"

Shota chimed in, his tone was matter-of-fact. “There’s another layer to this. Bakugou mentioned the Problem Child’s middle school experiences before. I think we should bring him in and speak with him. He might have more information about how Inko has treated Problem Child since he has known him the longest.”

Toshinori nodded, "Young Bakugou has known Izuku the longest. If anyone can tell us more about his past, it’s him.”

All Might pulls out his phone, and sends a text message to Bakugou. "Young Bakugo, would you mind meeting Aizawa, Mic, and I in the teacher's lounge? We have a few questions about Young Midoriya."

About five minutes later

The explosive student was visibly confused when he arrived, his sharp eyes darting between the three teachers.

“What the hell is this about?” Bakugou demanded, his tone more guarded than aggressive.

"This is about Problem Child," Shota said bluntly. "We need you to tell us more about his home life and his experiences back in middle school. I know that the two of you have known each other since you were four years old. So I figured you would be the best person to ask."

Bakugou stiffened. “What’s going on with Deku?”

Hizashi stepped up, "It's a long story, but yesterday we discovered that Midoriya is my son."

Bakugou’s jaw dropped. “Wait—what?! You’re… you’re his dad? I thought the dumb nerd's father worked over seas!! At least that's what Auntie Inko used to tell me when we were younger."

“Yeah,” Hizashi confirmed. “And I need to know what he’s been through. You’ve known him the longest, right?”

Bakugou hesitated, his gaze flicking to the floor. “Yeah, I’ve known him since we were kids. Look, Deku’s mom… Auntie Inko has always been weird around Deku, even back when we were little kids and I spent the night at his house. It always seemed as though she had this weird look in her eye when she looked at Deku."

"What weird look?" Hizashi pried.

"I don't know how to describe it, it's like a mixture of disappointment and regret. She always acted like he was a burden or something. She never used to cheer him on, when we played soccer back in Kindergarten. And back in middle school… things got bad. Real bad.”

“Define bad,” Shota pressed.

Bakugou scowled, guilt flashing across his face. “The other kids bullied him constantly, and I… I didn’t help. I was an idiot back then. But his mom never stepped in. It’s like she didn’t care. Deku… he told me once that she said he should stop dreaming about being a hero. That he’d just get hurt.”

Hizashi's fist clenched at his sides, his voice trembling with anger. “She said that to him?”

"Yeah," Bakugo muttered in response. "Auntie has always been the type of person who worries about every little thing, so I guess she thought she was protecting him or something when she told him that he could never become a hero without a quirk."

"But, he was never quirkless." Hizashi says his voice laced with anger.

"What are you talking about? Deku never developed a quirk until a few months before we started school at UA."

"So Inko's been lying to everyone then?"

"What are you talking about?" Bakugou asks in confusion.

"Mrs. Midoriya has been hiding dampeners in Young Midoriya's clothing since he was a little kid. He was naturally born with a quirk. It's called Harmonic Force: Sound Barrier, and based on the information that Mic has told me, the quirk is very similar to Hizashi's voice quirk." All Might explains grimly.

"What? Deku has had a quirk this entire time? Yet, auntie Inko still treated him like he was a burden on her because she didn't want anyone around her to know that she had a 'quirkless' son. I never knew that Auntie was capable of doing anything like that. Growing up I used to sleep over at Deku's house whenever my parents had to work overtime, and she was always one of the nicest most nurturing person to me. But I guess I should've realized that something was going on based on the way that she treated Izuku."

Shota exchanged a grim look with Toshinori and Hizashi.

"Kid, I’m going to give Izuku the life he deserves. No more secrets, no more pain.” Hizashi says with determination in his eyes.

Toshinori placed a hand on Hizashi’s shoulder. “We’ll help you every step of the way.”

As the meeting came to an end one thing was clear: Izuku was safe in the hands of his father, and his three teachers would do whatever it took to protect him.

Chapter Text

It was an ordinary morning at UA’s dormitory building—or as ordinary as things could be with a class of future pro heroes. Class 1-A was bustling in the common room as students gathered for breakfast before homeroom.

Izuku Midoriya sat at a table with Shoto Todoroki, his boyfriend of almost three months. Shoto was quietly sipping his tea while Izuku enthusiastically talked about a new training regimen that he had been working on. Occasionally, Shoto’s lips would twitch into a faint smile at Izuku’s excitement, a subtle but unmistakable sign of his affection for the greenette.

Katsuki Bakugou was at the counter, glaring at the toaster as if it had personally offended him. Ochaco and Iida were chatting nearby, and Mina and Kaminari were whispering about a recent gossip thread on HeroNet.

Everything seemed normal—until a booming, unmistakable voice shattered the peaceful atmosphere.

“YOOOO, CLASS 1-A!”

All heads turned as Present Mic—Hizashi Yamada himself—strolled into the room, his energy as electric as ever. He was wearing his signature sunglasses, a leather jacket, and a wide grin.

“Mic-sensei?” Jiro asked, blinking in surprise. “What are you doing here this early?”

"Yeah, we still have an hour or two before we have to head off to class. Is something wrong?" Kirishima asks concerned.

"Oh, nothing's wrong little listeners. I was just dropping by to give a few things to my son." Hizashi says with a huge smile. Him and Izuku had been bonding a lot over the past few weeks, so he decided that he wanted to prepare a small bento box for his son. (So that he wouldn't develop any of Aizawa's terrible eating habits.)

Hizashi pulls a customized Present Mic bento box out of the small bag that he was holding and placed it on the counter.

The room went silent.

“Wait… what?” Kaminari blurted, looking between Hizashi and the students. “You have a son?”

"Oh, yeah... I figured it was about time that the rest of you knew, Izuku is my son!!!" Present Mic says proudly pointing to the green haired boy who was beginning to look more and more flustered by the minute.

All eyes turned to Izuku, who had gone pale, his freckles standing out starkly against his flushed cheeks.

“W-Wha- Dad!” Izuku stammered, standing up so quickly he nearly knocked over his chair.

"DAD?!" Mina squealed, her jaw dropping.

Shoto's eyes shot up, "Wait so you aren't All Might's secret love child. But Mic Sensei's instead?"

Izuku just chuckled at his boyfriends confusion, "Y-Yeah,” Izuku admitted, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly. “We found out recently. It’s… kind of a long story.”

"Holy crap, Midobro," Kirishima exclaims with his eyes wide, "That's awesome."

"So, how did you find out?", Uraraka asks always ready for her best friend to spill the tea.

"Well, do you all remember a couple of weeks ago when Principal Nezu made us take those stupid blood examinations? We sort of found out the next day, that's why Principal Nezu asked me to go to the teacher's lounge and why I never came back to class that day." Izuku confesses.

"You know, now that I'm looking at the two of you side by side it kind of makes sense. I mean you have the same color eyes and you also have these odd blonde streaks in your hair that is similar to Mic-Sensei's hair color." Momo says putting the pieces together. She couldn't believe she didn't realize the similarities sooner.

"You also have parts of his personality and constant enthusiasm." Jiro points out agreeing with her girlfriend.

Izuku groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Dad, you’re embarrassing me!”

“But it’s so manly!” Kirishima exclaimed, pumping his fist. “You’ve got a pro hero for a dad, Midoriya! That’s amazing!”

"Well, I'm stuck with Endeavor for a dad. And he doesn't win the Father of the Year award." Shoto deadpanned.

“Does this mean we’ll get more announcements over the intercom featuring your name?” Kaminari teased.

“TOTALLY!” Hizashi said, winking.

Izuku groaned again, his cheeks burning.

Amid the chaos, Todoroki stood up, placing a reassuring hand on Izuku’s shoulder.

"Class, we mustn't forget that Midoriya's parental development doesn’t change anything. He’s still the same person we all know and admire. Let’s not overwhelm him.” Tenya says while moving his hand back and forth accordingly

The room quieted slightly at Iida's words, and Izuku shot the class president a grateful look.

"Wait a second,"  Bakugou growled, narrowing his eyes at the class president. "You also knew?"

"What do you mean by also knew? Did you know about this Kacchan?" Kaminari asks exasperated.

"Dunce Face. I've known Deku since the two of us were back in diapers, so, of course, I found out." Bakugou says with an eye roll.

A few minutes later

As the class buzzed with questions and excitement, Shoto leaned closer to Izuku, his voice low enough for only him to hear.

“I can't believe you didn't tell me. But I guess I understand where you were coming from,” he murmured, his lips quirking into a small smile.

Izuku chuckled, leaning into Shoto’s touch. "Trust me, you were the first person I wanted to tell. But a bunch of stuff happened and I just couldn't figure out how to break the news to you. But now I guess the cats outta the bag."

From across the room, Hizashi watched the pair with a fond smile, his heart full. Izuku had a bright future ahead, and he wasn’t going to miss a second of it.

Notes:

Next, quirk training.

How will Izuku react to using his other quirk for the very first time?
