Chapter One
“This is all your fault, Webs!” Sam shouts.
“My fault? If you were watching where you were flying the laser wouldn’t have turned our way Buckethead!” I yell back.
“Boys! Stop yelling at each other, we have a bigger problem to deal with now.” Ava says.
“What now?” I ask.
“Danny?” She says, gesturing to him.
Danny lifts his fist, as he usually does but this time nothing happens. No “chi” energy, no glowing, nothing.
“Guess your fist isn’t made of iron afterall.” I joke.
“Peter, this isn’t a joke, all our powers are gone.” Luke says while trying to pick up a rather large chunk of debris.
“Uh, no, I’m fine.” I say, shooting a web right into Sam’s face.
“And you wonder why we call you webhead? You made those, they don’t come out of you.” Sam sneers, pulling off the webs.
“Right.” I sigh, “but does Norman Osborn really want to get rid of us that bad? Bad enough to literally create a ray that takes our powers?”
“I suppose he does.” Danny says, still trying to light his hand.
“Let’s go tell Fury I guess.”
I call S.H.I.E.L.D and tell them we have to be met on the ground as we all walk into the city, much to Sam’s dismay. Fury looked less than pleased to see us all, which isn’t completely unusual, we tend to bring bad news along with us.
“While Conners works out a solution you guys will be on the bench. But think of this as time off, take a while to just be kids.” Fury says.
We all groan in unison, screw time off.
The team splits and I walk off the Tricarrier. I turn to see Sam running in my direction. I roll my eyes and keep walking.
“Webs wait!” He shouts.
I stop and stand, soon enough I feel his arm wrap around my shoulder.
“Can I stay at your house?”
“Uh, why can’t you go back to yours?”
“I don’t want to stay there, Fury is pissed and I’m basically useless without my powers. And spring break starts literally tomorrow, I just really don’t wanna be stuck being bored with Fury.”
He looks sad, not fake puppy dog sad, but actually sad. As much as I despise all things Nova, Sam as Sam isn’t all that bad.
“Sure Flashlight.”
Sam smiles, unwraps his arm from my shoulder, and sprints towards my house. “First one there gets the bed bug-breath!”
I run after him and meet him at my front door, I open it and let him in.
“Aunt May?” I call.
She peeks her head out from the kitchen, “Yeah, Petey?”
“This is my friend Sam, his family is out of town, is it okay if he stays here for a little while?”
Sam is standing there smiling and waving like an idiot.
“Of course he can stay, I think we have an air mattress in the attic you can use.”
“Thanks Miss Parker, I really appreciate you letting me stay. I promise I’ll pull my weight around here.”
“That’d be nice Sam, Pete always forgets his chores.” She jokes.
“Oh I bet, sometimes I think his brain is full of spiderwebs.” He says, jabbing me in the side.
“Knock it off Sam, let’s just go get that mattress.” I say heading towards the attic stairs.
Once we reach the door I take a quick look around and shoot a web to bring down the stairs.
“So not fair that you still have your webs.” Sam groans.
“Hey, I made these myself, I deserve to keep them.” I huff, walking up the stairs.
“Do you even have powers then? Or is everything just homemade?”
“Just the webs and the shooters are, all my other abilities are from that stupid Oscorp spider.”
As we head to my room he continues to interrogate me.
“It’s like you don’t even know me, Sparky!” I say placing a hand on my heart mockingly.
“I mean I don’t really, not like know you, know you. You know?”
“No I get it, I don’t know much about what you can do either now that I think about it. What can you do?”
Sam looks so excited when I ask him that. “You wanna know about what I can do?”
I just nod, forgetting how self centered he can be sometimes and I just let him talk. I never realized how much I enjoyed just listening to people talk, for some reason listening to Sam was calming. He was so passionate about his powers, proud of them. I lay back onto my bed and begin to drift off, before I was fully asleep I hear Sam.
“Goodnight Peter, thanks for the place to stay.”

Chapter Two
Sam has been staying with me for a few days now and it hasn’t been nearly as annoying as I thought it was going to be. Nova has always been a little much to handle, but Sam Alexander? He’s fun, kind, and polite. He and I have grown closer than I have with any of the other guys. Sure I get along with Ava, Danny and Luke, but it turns out Sam and I have a lot in common.
I wake up and Sam isn’t there but I can hear someone singing downstairs. The further I walk down the hallway the louder it gets and the less it sounds like May. I peek around the corner and see Sam singing while cooking breakfast. Quickly I take out my phone and start recording. He finishes the song and sees me.
“Hey what gives Webs!” He says lunging for the phone.
“Just a little thing for blackmail.” I smile.
“Fine, no breakfast for you then.”
“Wait, you made me breakfast?”
“You think I’m just gonna stay in your house for free? I told you and May I’d help out.”
“I just didn’t know you had any selflessness in you Buckets.”
“No need to be rude, man.” Sam says rolling his eyes and setting a plate in front of me.
We eat in a comfortable silence, which is nice, but being completely honest, I do like when Sam rambles.
“Tell me a story.”
“A story? Since when do you let me say more than a few words at a time?’ He says with his mouth full.
“Yeah, yeah. Just don’t talk with food in your mouth Sam.”
He swallows and begins to talk about nothing in particular. I just rest my head in my hand and watch, not even really listening. He tends to talk with his hands. Gesturing this way and that, mimicking the objects he talks about, it’s kind of endearing really. His black hair swaying as he moves his head and his eyes bouncing around the room and seemingly my face.
“Earth to Web-head? Why are you smiling so much?” Sam asks, titling his head slightly.
“Huh?”
“Are you even listening? You look like you're daydreaming.”
I blank on an excuse. “Not daydreaming, just watching you.”
“Ew watching me?”
My eyes widen realizing what I just said. “Yeah?”
“I’ll let it slide, I know I’m irresistible.” He smirks.
“And I thought Sam was better than Nova.” I laugh.
He cocks an eyebrow, “You don’t like me as Nova?”
“I like Nova, I do, you’re a great teammate and have some super cool abilities, but you tend to get a little arrogant with the helmet on. Sam is, how do I put this, more likable?”
He sighs, “My powers are all I have Pete, I don’t mean to be like that.”
“I know you don’t Sam, it’s just a little bit much sometimes.” I smile.
He gives me a small smile back and I feel something in my stomach, a feeling that I started getting when he began to stay with me, this time stronger. I felt like I did with MJ all those years ago. I get up and rush out the door, I hear Sam calling behind me, but by the time he could reach me I was in the suit and swinging to where he couldn’t reach. Of all people I could have gotten a crush on, it had to be Sam? The Sam that I work with, go to school with and currently live with? The Sam that is a guy. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with him being a boy. It’s just new and strange. What if I start acting differently around him? What if it affects the team? What if he thinks of me differently? We’ve always rudely bantered for fun, but what if he starts actually hating me? I shake those thoughts from my head and just watch the city move. There’s been a surprising lack of villains ruining things since we lost our powers, not that I’m complaining. The city is calm and flowing easily. No explosions, no masked heroes trying to save the day. Nothing but me and my thoughts on top of the building. Until I heard the door to the roof open. I turn to see Sam walking over to me dressed in his full gear.
“What are you doing here? And what’s with the bucket?” I ask, playfully flicking his helmet.
“Well you kind of swung off in a hurry, I was worried. But then remembered I can’t fly so I had to walk all over the city to find you. The suit however? Figured it’d be a little weird for Sam Alexander to be hanging out with Spider-Man on a rooftop.” He shrugs.
“You were worried about me?”
“Maybe just a little bit.”
It started to rain as he sat beside me on the ledge. We watch as the clouds grow dark and the rain grows heavy. We take off our masks and just sit in each other's company for a while.
“We should head back, May is probably wondering where we are.” He says standing and extending a hand to help me up.
I grab it, hoping he holds on for just a little longer, the butterflies from earlier creeping back into my gut, but he lets go as soon as I’m steady on my feet. My mouth works faster than my head sometimes and it tends to get me in trouble.
“Hey Sam?”
“Yeah?” He asks softly.
He stood in front of me, rain dripping down his face, just staring. I see him glance down, enough for me to notice but maybe not enough for him. I lean in and our lips touch for the first time. I melt. He starts to pull back, as if having second thoughts, before wrapping a soft hand on the back of my neck and pulling me into him. Just seconds after, we pull apart.
“I-I’m sorry.” I say taking an instinctive step away.
“No, no, it’s okay Pete. I uh, I’ve been wanting to do that for a while but I didn’t know if you liked me, let alone liked me like this.” He blushes.
“Of course I like you, this kind of liking is new though.” I admit.
“How new?”
“Like since you started staying with me new. Wait, a while? How long have you been wanting to kiss me?”
“Oh that’s a hard one,” his cheeks red as roses, “I think it was the day we went to the beach, you know the beach that turned out to be Sandman’s prison?”
“You wanted to kiss me because you saw me shirtless didn’t you?” I joke.
“That helped, but it wasn’t all of it. You’re funny, smart, a great leader. Dude, you’re Spider-Man, who doesn’t wanna kiss Spider-Man?”
“Oh I get it, you just want the hero.”
“No, no! I like Peter Parker too!” He says as if he were scared he had hurt my feelings.
“I’m just messing with you Buckethead, I’d wanna kiss Spider-Man too.”
“Can we get back to being serious for a second?”
“Uh oh, the serious talk, you can’t break up with me if we’re not even dating yet Sam.”
His eyes widen a tad, “Dating?”
“Yeah? Did you think I was going to let you get away with one kiss?”
“I wasn’t sure what this was going to be Webs but I’d like to see what happens.”
“Then it’s settled,” I say, “Let’s go home.”
We put our masks back on, I wrap my arm around his waist and jump off the ledge.

Chapter Three
It’s been a few days since our little talk and today was our first real date night. Dinner and a movie, something simple that we've done together before.
“Sam get out of my room, I need to change for dinner.”
“But Webs I don’t wanna leave.” He groans.
“I never realized how clingy you are, it’s cute, but still get out. You need to change too.”
“Oh I’m cute am I?”
I let out a small chuckle, “I wouldn’t date someone who isn’t cute. Now go!”
“But all my good clothes are with Fury!”
“That’s perfect. You go get ready and then you can “pick me up” like a gentleman at the door.”
Sam taps a finger against his chin, pretending to think. “You got it Parker.”
I shake my head as he walks out the door. Rummaging through my closet I realize I don’t own a lot of what people would call date clothes, which isn’t ideal. I end up settling for a nice pair of pants, a plain button up that was crammed in the corner and a pair of converse. Hopefully Sam isn’t getting too fancy, I do not need him bragging about “being the better boyfriend”. We haven’t even said that yet, the boyfriends thing,
Sam got ready faster than I expected, as I heard the doorbell ring I was still slipping my shoes on. I walk down the stairs more nervous than I expected to be. I opened it to see Sam with flowers.
“You got me flowers? When did you have time to do that?” I asked, taking them.
He followed me to the kitchen as I place them in a vase of water. “I ran, like everywhere. I hate not flying.”
“Wish I could fly.”
“Once Conners fixes this crap I’ll take you flying. An actual fly, not the ‘I'm saving your life in the middle of a fight fly.’”
“Deal.” I say as we walk out the door.
We got to the restaurant, Sam chose Italian, and got seated. This place was nice, really nice.
“How can you afford this?” I asked
“Who said I’m paying Wedhead?”
“You asked me out, therefore you pay.”
“Fine, fine, fine. I’m paying. Just eat enough for it to be worth it.”
Dinner went really well, it didn’t really feel like a date until we left. As we walk down the street towards the theater Sam’s hand brushes against mine as if he were too scared to grab it, so I do. He looks at me once our fingers have locked together and smiles. He doesn’t need to say anything, I feel it too. When we get to the door I feel Sam’s fingers loosen.
“It’s okay.” I tell him, giving his hand a small squeeze.
His hand tightens back around mine as we walk in and get our tickets. Once we are seated and the lights have dimmed Sam rests his head against my shoulder taking a deep breath in.
“I like this.” He mumbles.
“You can’t fall asleep yet, the movie just started, Buckets.”
He sleepily puts a finger to my lips, “Shhhh, just let me sleep Webs. You make a good pillow.”
“It’s my shoulder, it can’t be that nice.”
This time there’s no snotty come back, I turn to see him and he’s dead asleep. He’s cute like this. Hair falling gently over his face, mouth half open, small snores escaping. I rest my head on top of his and watch the movie, though I don’t pay much attention to what’s on the screen. I keep sneaking glances at the boy resting beside me. I’ve seen him glow, but never like this. Usually it’s a fiery glow, a star burning its last bit of life, a comet racing through the air. This glow is much calmer; like the light of the moon, dim yellow streetlights or the moss that gleams in its deep caves. A nightlight not a sun.
As the movie ends I gently shake him awake, “ Sam, it’s over, we gotta get home. ”
“I’m too tired to walk Petey.”
“I’m not carrying you all the way there.”
He settles on an exaggerated groan as he gets to his feet but starts walking nonetheless. As we leave he grabs my hand and leads me out of the theater and down the street.
“This isn’t the way home dummy.”
“I know, I have something to show you first.”
He drags me around the corner and outside the city to a rather large tree.
“A tree?” I ask, raising an eyebrow.
“To be honest I keep forgetting that we don’t have powers, but I like to sit at the top and watch the sky. I come here a lot when I don’t wanna be at the Tricarrier. I thought you’d like it.”
“Flying and sticky hands or not, we can totally get up there. People climb trees all the time.”
We haven’t been powerless in a very long time so actually getting to the top was a little more difficult than we expected but when we got up it was beyond worth it. Sam wasn’t kidding when he said he’d been up here often. He had built a small wooden floor held up by literal twigs, but it seemed to hold okay.
“This is amazing Sam” I say looking at the bright lights above us, “I never get to see stars like this in the city.”
He leans against me, “It’s pretty isn’t it? It makes me feel at home.”
“Because of the whole ‘Nova’ thing?”
“More than that. I used to live out there, among them, the stars I mean. I miss it sometimes.”
“You used to live in space?”
“Yeah, I grew up there. The stars, the moon, all the comets, planets and asteroids. It’s beautiful up there Pete.” He says, sitting up straight again, just watching the sky.
He seems so full of life when he talks about it. I lay back and just look. Sam lays down and places his head on my chest, I rest an arm over his stomach, feeling him breath deeply as I trace little stars on his arm. We lay like that for a while. Sam pointing out stars and constellations, telling my stories of his adventures, his life before me and Earth and S.H.I.E.L.D. As I feel myself drifting off, I hear Sam say something, but I couldn’t make it out.

Chapter Four
I open my eyes to the sun glaring down on my face and try to sit up but can’t. I give my eyes a quick rub and see Sam still sleeping, curled up against me, head still on my chest.
“Wakey, wakey Sam.”
“No.” He grumbles, snuggling closer to me.
“Sam, we gotta get going, Aunt May is probably worried sick.”
He just inches closer, which I didn’t even know was possible, at this point he’s basically on top of me.
“Sam? Samuel? Buckethead?” Still nothing, “Nova!”
He jolts awake, as if looking for danger, “Dude, don’t scare me like that, I thought we were under attack or something.”
“Next time get up when I tell you to.”
“But you’re so comfortable Webs, I just wanna use you as a pillow forever.”
“That can be arranged.”
He looks surprised at that, “Huh?”
I struggle to get the next words out, “We’re boyfriends, I think it’s okay if we share a bed every now and again.”
“Boyfriends?”
“Y-yeah, if that’s okay with you.” I say, not meeting his gaze.
He tilts my chin to meet his eyes and kisses me. This kiss is different, it’s passionate. It’s an answer to everything I’ve been asking myself. He pushes me back down and pins me to the floor. He tastes like fire and raspberries. He smells like the stars and the rain and everything in between. I only have one thought as he slowly pulls away and rests his forehead against mine, breathless and warm. I am in love with Sam Alexander.
“You’re amazing, you know that Peter?”
I just smile and place a small kiss on his still warm sunny lips. “You’re not so bad yourself Sam.”
“Last day of spring break Webs, what should we do?”
“Already? I wish we could live in our little bubble forever.”
Sam rolls over and lays beside me, “Are we gonna tell the team?”
“I haven’t even thought about that, can we keep it to ourselves for a bit longer? It’s only been 2 weeks, let’s just be like this for a while before telling them. Let us get our footing before potentially knocking us down. Not that I think they’ll hate us or anything, they’re all great people who care about us. But it’s just a lot to drop on them you know? You left the Tricarrier out of nowhere to stay with me and now we’re dating.” I realize I’m rambling, “Sorry, I’m just nervous.”
He smiles and sits back up, “Don’t be sorry, I like when you talk. And you’re right, it’s a lot to drop out of nowhere. But they’re smart Pete, they’ll figure it out before we get to telling them.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
“I’m always right.”
I just sigh and begin my climb back down the tree, “Let’s go Buckets.”
Sam and I make it down and start our walk home, deciding that our last day of spring break will be spent in our room watching movies. One last day of us being able to be together without the world knowing.

Chapter Five
My alarm wakes me up after a rather crappy night of sleep. School starts again today. It’s early and the sky is dark. Sam snores gently beside me, arms still wrapped around my torso. I don’t want to wake him up, I want to stay here and let him curl against me for the rest of the day. But Coulson would kick our butts if we didn’t show for school.
“Sammy, we gotta get ready.” I say, trying to unwrap him so I can get changed.
“Five more minutes Pete.” He mumbles into my neck.
I roll my eyes and push him off, “No more minutes, we're gonna be late.”
“You’re the worst, you know that Spider?”
“Oh you like it.”
“I like you. I do not like being pushed out of bed in the morning.” He says, rubbing his eyes.
I ignore him and grab some clothes from my closet, tossing them in his direction.
He raises an eyebrow, holding the shirt to his chest. “These are your clothes.”
“You haven’t done laundry in days Sam, it’s either this or nothing.”
He groans but starts to change anyway. I've seen him shirtless before on the beach, but this time I really see him. I trace the lines of his stomach with my eyes, muscle seeping through his soft caramel skin. His jaw is sharp, smile brighter than any supernova he’s ever created. I meet his eyes then, a soft sage green full of love, sadness, and hope. I know he sees me staring but he doesn’t break away.
“You’re beautiful.” The words slip from my tongue before I can stop myself.
Sam walks over to me and places a hand on each side of my face, holding me steady. “And you are irresistible.”
He pushes me to the bed and kisses me, soft and sweet. We’re half awake, lips fumbling against one another. My hands slowly trace along his stomach and up to his chest while his absently gets tangled in my hair.
“Boys! Time to get up!” Aunt May shouts from the other side of the door.
As we pull apart Sam says, “Sorry.”
“For?”
“Getting carried away.”
“Don't be sorry Sam.” I couldn't think of anything else to say so I just continued getting dressed.
“Come on, we're gonna miss the bus Pete.” He yells from the bottom of the stairs. I didn't even notice him leave the room.
We sit down on an empty seat towards the back and watch the city move by. Sam grabs my hand and locks my fingers with his behind the seat. He legs ago as soon as the bus stops at the school.
“Ready?” He asks.
“I guess.”
We walk in like any other day. Sam splits off to find Danny, Ava and Luke while I go find MJ and Harry. I miss him beside me already. All my classes before lunch are easy, and with it being the first day back we don't do much anyway. I sit with the team at lunch, this time next to Sam instead of across from him. I get some glances from the others but they don't say anything. I feel him tap his knee against mine and I tap back looking over to him and giving him a small smile. The group looks between us, clearly having thoughts about the whole thing. Sam and I see this and scooch apart a bit.
Ava raises an eyebrow, “He was staying with you wasn’t he?”
I mumble something under my breath and she gives me what I like to call her ‘evil cat stare’ and Sam folds.
“Yeah?”
“You told us you were going to go stay with family.” Luke says, almost disappointed.
“I might have lied just a little bit.” Sam says.
“Why were you staying with Webhead over here?” Ava says, pointing her thumb in my direction.
Before I could even come up with an excuse the bell rang, “Sorry, gotta get to class!”
Sam and I both bolt from our seats to the door.
At my locker Danny corners me, “Just tell them.”
“Tell them what?” I ask.
“The truth. It’s always better to speak your truth now than suffer the consequences later. They will be supportive.”
“How do you know what’s going on Danny?”
“I know more than you think Spider.” He says walking away.
I spend the rest of the day thinking about it, we probably should tell the team. They love us and would support anything we do. They go along with my insane, sometimes deadly plans on missions, why would they question me now?
Sam and I decide to spend a little time in the city before heading home, Aunt May is off doing another crazy hobby she picked up so we have nothing else to do. We wander around playing tourist. Neither of us have really walked the streets of New York, we’re always in the air swinging or flying. It was cool to see it from the ground again. By the time night rolls in we’ve made our way back to Sam’s tree, this time with blankets and pillows. Climbing up with extra stuff was difficult, but we made it up okay. We lay and look at the stars again.
“We should just tell them about us. I swear Ava is minutes away from figuring it out.” I tell him.
“Yeah, she’s smarter than I thought.”
“No kidding, she carried you in the science fair.”
“We totally would’ve won if you didn’t bring Andy and use our experiment to stop him.” He laughs.
“Tomorrow?”
“Sure. For now let’s enjoy the last bit of privacy we will get.”
“And the last night where they won’t tease us about this.” I joke.
“Tease all they want, I’m happy and nothing will change that.” Sam says.
“I’m happy too.” I say, grabbing his hand and placing a small kiss on his knuckles.
Sam rolls over, placing himself chest to chest with me. He leans in and places a kiss on each eyelid, then my nose. “Have I ever told you how pretty you are?”
He kisses my lips then my shoulders, his hands slowly making their way under my shirt, pulling it off slowly.
“You haven’t today.” I say, breath trembling ever so slightly.
I follow his lead and pull his shirt over his head, tossing it by mine. He’s trailing his lips down my chest and to my stomach. He stops at my hips, plants a kiss on either one and looks up to meet my eyes. I reach a hand under his chin and pull him back up to my face.
“Have I ever told you that I love you?” The words spill from my mouth like an avalanche, I couldn’t stop it even if I wanted to.
His eyes light up like, well like a supernova, before he crashes our lips together. He’s hovering above me, hands beside my head. Sam still tastes like fire but this time a forest fire. Ash and pine and smoke. He lowers his body against mine causing me to gasp, he took that as an invite. I can feel him breathing on top of me, chest rising in unison with mine as he pressed his lips deeper into mine. My hands trace the lines of his body and his end up tangling in my hair. He then lets go and sets his hands back beside my head, lifting himself off and breaking the kiss. Sam looks at me, as if he were studying every bit of my face, every inch of me like this might be the last time we would be together.
“I love you too.”

Chapter Six
We walk to school hand in hand deciding that the team can figure it out on their own. If they ask, we'll tell them the truth, no lies or excuses. Sam and I sit beside each other at lunch again, this time shoulder to shoulder, legs bumping beneath the table. I see Ava and Luke hand money to Danny.
“What was that for?” I ask.
“We had a few bets placed, Danny won.” Luke said, annoyed.
“You bet on us?” Sam questions.
“It was bound to happen sooner or later. It was obvious you guys had something going on. You don’t think we haven’t noticed that you guys always help each other first when the other is hurt? You always run to Pete the second he’s down and Pete is always the first one to help you up when you fall.” Ava points out.
“How long have you known?” I ask, slightly embarrassed. Maybe I have liked Sam even longer than I thought.
“I started to notice when the original Helicarrier was destroyed and we all stayed with you. You and Sam were basically inseparable.” Danny says. “That was also when I figured I could make a few extra bucks off of you both.”
“That’s not very zen of you.” Sam huffs.
Danny just shrugs and takes a bite of his lunch.
“So you guys are okay with this? Me and Sam being together?”
“As long as it doesn’t get us killed in the field, we’re 100% supportive.” Luke says.
“Whenever we can get back into the field, I miss my powers.” Sam says.
Everyone mumbles something in agreement. It’s hard to be heroes when we can’t actually be heroes . Hopefully Connors fixes this soon, 2 weeks is too long. We sit and eat lunch while we talk about this and that, as if nothing were different. It’s nice to have friends who love me for me. Speaking of friends, I still have to tell Harry and MJ. They’ve known me forever and if the team can figure it out so quickly, they already know too. I just need to go confirm their suspicions. Good thing I have a class with both of them next period.
“Hey guys, I have something to tell you.” I say, sitting beside them.
“You’re dating Sam Alexander.” MJ says, not even looking up from her book.
“I knew you were good, but that’s scary good.” I say.
“It was kinda obvious Pete, you’ve never had a girlfriend and all you do is hang out with him.” Says Harry, his nose also buried in his book.
“So we’re cool?”
Harry closes his book and looks at me, “Of course we’re cool, this means you were ditching us for a boyfriend which I like better than the thought that you were ditching us for a different friend group.”
I give him a small smile and sit back as class starts. The teacher is rambling on about something when I hear an announcement over the PA system. It was Coulson.
“Would the following students please make their way to my office? Lucas Cage, Ava Ayala, Daniel Rand and Peter Parker.”
“What did those other friends get you into now?” Harry asks.
I shrug and head down to see Coulson.
“You think he has news on our powers?” Ava hopes.
“I do.” Coulson appears in the hallway and points us into the detention room.
“Finally!” Sam shouts.
We sit in our respective places and get taken to the Tricarrier. Coulson leads us to Connors’ lab, we’re all buzzing with excitement.
“Tell them what you’ve got, Doc.”
“Well I’ve managed to reverse the ray’s effects but it hasn’t been tested yet. It should give you guys back all of your powers. However, use it one at a time, there’s a chance if more than one of you are in it at the same time you’ll switch abilities. So who wants to go first?”
Sam basically jumps from his spot and races in front. Doc Conners opens the containment area and lets him in. The machine whirs and spits out a red ray of light, hitting Sam in the back. The red quickly turns white, glowing bright enough we all cover our eyes. When the noise stops and the door opens back up, I see him. My Nova, covered in light.
“IT WORKED!” He yells, flying around the room.
The rest of us take our turns and get our powers. It felt good to have powers back. Luke, Danny and Ava go straight to the training room, you can tell they’ve missed it. Sam and I head to the deck.
“Hey Webs, wanna go for a flight? I did promise you one.”
“I would love to my little lightbulb.”
He scooped me up and launched off the Tricarrier. We flew between buildings and under bridges. It was amazing. We land on top of Central Park Tower.
“Ugh, I’ve missed that.” Sam says, still hovering above the rooftop.
“I can tell.”
He gives me a light shove, “Hey, if you could do what I can, you’d miss it too. I can fly faster than the speed of sound, I can jump through space Pete!”
“Show me.”
He smiles and takes off, flying faster than I have ever seen him go before. I hear the boom as he explodes into a trail of light. It shook my bones where I sat. He flew up, higher and higher until I couldn’t see him or his light anymore. He reappeared almost as fast as he disappeared. He lands back on the roof and hands me something.
“A rock?” I ask.
“Not just any rock Webs, it’s a moon rock.”
“You went up to the moon and got me a rock?”
“I love you to the moon and back Pete.” Sam says.
