The Ngimtsyokx Clan

Summary:

Introduction to my very own Clan! This work will contain ceremonies and beliefs. This is also just a build up for a Spider gets adopted story

Chapter 1: The leaders & villages

Tsahìk: Ketxe Te Teineweye Humär'ite

Tsakarem: Netxuppey Te Ei Rutxrukxo'ite

Olo'eyktan: Wawyiu Te Putxì Kualyonoay'ite

Olo'eyktan in training: Narrru Te Uung Urnawm'itan

 

Main village: Txampay'fyìp

•Name being tied to the fact that large groups of corals grow around the village and the coral shaped pillars that they used to support their maruis'

•This village usually trades the pearls that can be found in the Tsnganlak (clams in literal translation: Meatshell(shell as in one that covers an animal or plant) ) that wash ashore in the small pools around the village

 

One smaller village: Sum

•Named after all the seashells around the beaches near the village

•Usually trade these shells with other clans

Chapter 2: Their Biology & Environment

Biology:

•Like other sea clans, the Ngimtsoykx have adapted to an aquatic lifestyle and so possess fin like arms and legs along with pedal like tails. They also have a nictitating membrane or in other words a 'third eyelid'. They have bigger rib cages and bigger lungs to be able to dive longer.

•They call the shapes that their tanhì (Bioluminescent freckles) form Tokxsnatanhì (Body Constellation) since tanhì also means star.

•Their stripes are wave like, like that of the Metkayina .

•Unlike other sea clans, the Ngimtsyokx have a duller/lighter skin color due to the acidic pools surrounding their home and a special cream that acts like sunscreen but against the acidic pools.


Environment:

•Giant bioluminescent caves with coral shaped supporting pillars

•They use the Wiptxampay'ewll (seaweed or in literal translation: Salty Sea Plant) , the fabric that they trade with other clans to weave their Maruis and they use the Txa'txampayfyìp (coral or in literal translation: Hard sea tendril(s)) shaped columns to support them

•The Txampaykxemyo 'oratsyìp (seawall pool/pond) are used to protect the territory of the clan, and since the lower levels give an easier access to the the open sea, this is also where lessons are held for example : Ilu riding lessons

 

Chapter 3: Culture/Traditions

Culture:

•Similarly to the Metkayina , they also use Ilus and Tsuraks

•They also use tattoos to tell their journey into adulthood and to show their main role in the clan’s day to day life

•They also use spears as a main weapon

•For food they hunt Payoang (Fish) , Txa'lakswirä (Crab or in literal translation: hard shell creature) and use the plants around their home

 

Iknimaya (Rite Of Passage) : One of the first rites is having to successfully bond with a Tsurak , the second rite takes place in the deeper part of the seawall terraces: •The pools in the western part of the seawall pools are filled with water that got the clan its name;the water is a warm acidic type that can only be found in this part of Pandora, the clan calls it Txeppay (which means fire water).

While it isn’t harmful, it isn’t exactly harmless. The young Ngimtsoykx has to do a dive into one of these pools and stay under for at least 15 seconds.This show cases their breath technique and their skill in diving. The third rite is that the Na’vi has to find and bring back a Txärem te Zongtsamsiyu (Bone of the Defend(er) Warrior). This bone becomes an accessory(could become a necklace, a bead for the Songcord or an armband or a hair accessory as well) that will signify the passage to adulthood.

After passing every rite, the young Ngimtsoykx becomes an adult in the eyes of the clan and receives three new beads for their Waytelem (Songcord); one is chosen by the mother, one is chosen by the father and one is chosen by the Tsahìk , they will also receive a saddle for their Tsurak which was made by the mother of the one going through Iknimaya . Lastly they will receive their first tattoo, which is chosen by the clan’s elders and is put on the adult by the Tsahìk .

 

Waytelem (Songcord) : The Ngimtsoykx weave a strand of hair of the parents, the siblings, the aunts and uncles,the grandparents and the child’s at the start of their Songcords' .

Chapter 4: Ceremonies

Beliefs:

Koak Vitra/tirea ( Old soul/spirit or A spirit that has witnessed many seasons) : The Ngimtsoykx believe that one soul can be amongst the People more than once and so they call those who seemed to have retrieved memories or knowledge from a previous life an old soul .


The clan also considers family an important part of their life. That is why they consider becoming a child’s
Tirea Sa'sem (Spirit-parents) one of the greatest honor a Na'vi could receive. The Olo'eyktan is the one who usually decides if a couple or person is fit to take in the child or children. If the trials are failed by the candidate then the family of the Olo’eyktan will take in the children/child.


Other ceremonies/rituals:

Syeha'awve (First Breath) : The mother with the Tsahìk’s help gives birth in the shallow water to the child,who emerges directly from the womb into the water. The newborn then has to swim to the surface on its own and take their first breath hence the name.


'Ärìp Sìn / Tìsop ne Pizayu Atxkxe (Passing on/Journey to the Ancestor(‘s) land) : This is what could be called a funeral in human terms. Similarly to other sea clans, the Ngimtsoykx wash the dead’s body as if to wash life’s troubles off of them so that they can have a peaceful passing. They also bring their dead under the water however, they don’t give them to the yellow-glowing flora like the Metkayina , no they similarly to the Omatikaya lay their dead at the roots of their spirit tree. Between the roots is a hole prepared ahead to put the one who has passed away. Slowly Pìtìkpay levels rise, till the body has been fully submerged and so another soul has returned to Eywa. The Swokutral (Sacred Tree) of the Ngimtsoykx in appearance is almost a twin of the one that can be found in the forests of Pandora, the only difference is that this Tree’s roots go underneath the water.

And may the Great Mother bring you into her embrace.

May your spirit/soul return to the sea and the great cycle. }


Ronsem 'ärìp (Mind moving/Consciousness transfer) : Like the Omatikaya , this clan also practices this ritual. Most of the time they use this for those who feel like the body they are in is not suited for their soul/spirit.

Happens at the spirit tree but in the water, the whole clan standing in a circle with the Olo’eyktan, the Tsahìk and the parents and the family of the newborn in the center

Chapter 5: History

History:

Txantur Yrrap (The Powerful Storm) : This event is one of the most important one since this storm,according to the Songs, is what led the Ngimtsoykx to their current home. Before forming the clan, most ancestors were from either the Metkayina or the other sea clans. The Storm was so powerful that it even tore large chunks off of the seawall terraces surrounding Awa'atlu . At least 14 out of the 38 who were ripped from their homes were from the Ta'unui village however it is not known how many were from Awa'atlu or the other clans/villages.
