Chapter Text
Day: Saturday, Second Week of June, Night-time
“-and done! Alright, tool count?” The doctor said, looking over to his nurse who only nodded, quickly working through the process.
“All tools are accounted for. Everything looks good, Midoriya-sensei,” the nurse said, nodding her head. “I’ll get the patient passed over.”
“Thank you Yagi-san,” he said, looking over to Baba, also known as Granny among the staff, the old lady who was normally a Daycare worker, but also was a nurse when the need called for it.
The married Kohaku couple had to call off due to an emergency, creating a need.
Izuku quickly moved through the process of getting out of his surgical garb and back into his normal doctor garbs as he looked at his pager, reviewing any new messages before sending one back to the Dispatch Center, only for it to ping back a reply that he was clear to come up.
“Oh thank All Might, it is finally slowing down,” Izuku said as he sighed, before hearing a tsk from behind him, turning over to see Granny staring at him.
“Don’t thank that buffoon, his ego doesn’t need it,” she jabbed, affectionately as they walked up the stairs to the upper level of the center, temporarily leaving the clinic for the Dispatch Center, Outpatient Treatment, and Daycare, her smiling a she shook her head. As they continued walking, the maniacal sounding of laughter could be heard through the door of the Center as a blue-haired teen walked through, groaning before he paused, seeing Izuku, running up in hand movements at the shorter teen.
“Midoriya! I mean, Izuku! How do you work with her!?” He yelled out, aggressively gesturing with each word as from behind he saw Mei’s laughter increasing, the teen’s chaotic energy exploding as violently as her “babies” usually would. Channeling his teacher, he took a breath as he approached.
“Mei, what is going on?” Izuku asked, calmly.
“Training!”
“You are not!”
“Children.”
“Sorry, Yagi-sensei” “Sorry Granny”
“The little ones are asleep. Please behave. I need to make sure that Toshi hasn’t done anything stupid.” She said, walking away as the three started to laugh, calming down.
“What did you mean by training, Mei? Are you planning to work with us at the clinic, Tenya?” Izuku asked as he looked at the taller friend, who only moved his head in pride, and smiling.
“Of Course! Now that this clinic has been legally authorized I have spoken it over with my parents and they were more than willing to help donate more funding and were approving of me learning how to become a Dispatcher!” He said, before pausing. “But I don’t know how me knowing how to replace different resistors on the circuits of the unit, or where the emergency self-destruct button is, is necessary, Hatsu- I mean, Mei-san!”
Izuku only could laugh, because of course that is what Mei’s training was, before he shook his head, walking over. “Alright, alright. I’ll train you tomorrow better, is that okay?”
“Yes please!” He said, the two of them chuckling before he paused, looking at his pager.
“Hey, Mei, do you min-”
“Pinging you if something happens, but letting you take a small break? The rooftop is clear if you want to just relax, and the Mamadoriya left food for both you and Tenya if you wanted to eat up there too. I ate mine already!”
“Thank you! Tenya, do you want to go up to the rooftop to relax?”
“Of course!”
The two grabbed their plates and started walking up the stairs to the rooftop door, where they opened to see the solar panels, quirk-modified to have higher efficiencies to fully power the clinic as they found the table and chairs that everyone sat down at to eat.
“So, you’re getting trained now?”
“Indeed! I wanted to help, and, honestly, you and the others inspire me, Izuku. You, Ochako, Mei-san, Aoyama-san all are working here while also being my fellow classmates. I feel... inspired to do more.”
“You know you never have to, even just donating is enough, look at Shoto?” He said, smiling still at hearing this from his friend.
“Yes, Himura-san, they only provide money, but also he is a good friend to you and the others, as well as Natsuo-sensei and Fuyumi-sensei.”
The two ate in silence after that, simply enjoying each other’s company as Izuku reflected on the past few days. In spite of everything happening as fast as it did a few weeks ago, himself realizing that the longest three days of his life felt like easily an entire month, he truly got to breathe now as it all worked out for the best.
Every Friday Recovery Girl, the Recovery Girl! came to the clinic with two others! She had reviewed paperwork in more detail, and watched everyone, quizzing them, before helping create a program and plan for each member of the clinic that was a Nurse, Doctor, or Paramedic so they could become legally licensed, and until then, they were under her and two others’ licenses, the three of them being officially set as on-calls for emergencies as consultations, but trusting the clinic’s people to work.
Every Saturday, today in fact, Hound Dog came in with Midnight of all heroes! Even as a hero fanboy he had no idea that Midnight was actually trained and certified for the purposes of Crisis Management?! When he learned this trivia, he was sure Ochako was scared he had brain damage from how hard he smashed his head into the table. The two of them helped do the same for the others, though upon learning that Fuyumi had all the necessary training, instead they targetted Sayo and then began to work with those of the Community center who were Peer Support, getting a basis from them on how their work went, and even group counseling.
The idea of heroes walking around the Red Doors Clilnic was weird still for him, but they weren’t taking control, or forcing anyone to do anything they did not do normally, they actually trusted the clinic.
...The heroes trusted the Quirkless Community, and if that wasn’t the craziest thing Izuku’s ever said, he did not know what.
“How is studying going?” Tenya asked, looking at the green-haired teen who seemed deep in thought. “You have an exam at the end of next week you had said?”
“Y-yeah, and tiring. I actually may have to take a day off next week to fully cram-study before it to make sure I am good.” As good as his training was in a practical purpose, Izuku admitted that his training was lacking in the theoretical. After his quizzing from Recovery Girl, she sat down and explained it to him, never cruel or insulting, instead comparing his competencies to that of a medic in the militaries of old, who had to learn the processes first, then could later after there wasn’t a life on the line, learn how the theories worked. His background was lacking, he knew that, and she worked with him to create a proper curriculum to his level, so he could get everything done.
...If he followed to the letter, he was likely going to get his license before he turned 17, and he had no idea how to feel about that. In a little over a year he could be a legal doctor. He... he had no idea how to feel about it at all.
It was a conversation he had with Mei when it was just the two of them the last night, when the lines were quiet and no one was needing him.
“You speedran your entire life’s goal, Izu,” she said, leaning over him, resting her chin on top of his head as he sat in his chair, looking up to see her, her dreadlocks pooling around him.
“I did... how did I do this?”
“No clue, you lucked out by leaving your notebook out?”
“Was that it all it took though?” Izuku said, as he looked at her, and he knew she could see it, the fear, the disbelief. “Mei, is this all a dream? This can’t be real?”
“It is real, Izu. You did it. You did it with, what, 14 years to spare?” She said, as she gave him a small hug, wrapping her arms around him. “You can be scared, society wasn’t this good to us before,” she said, as he leaned into her, closing his eyes.
Mei was not Quirkless by birth, but she grew up with her Quirkless brother and saw it every day. When their parents became abusive to them both, a part of their story that he knew no one else knew, it was Hatsume-sensei who stepped up and saved his little sister, making sure she survived. Only he knew how bad it was, how much of her loudness was to make sure people saw her when the Hatsume family was cruel in telling their children to stop crying or yelling for help. He only rested a hand, squeezing hers before she smiled, him feeling it in his curls.
“We’re going to do it, Izuku.”
“Yeah, we’re going to make it happen, Mei. Operation, Take Over Japan?” He said, hearing her giggle before she kissed the top of his head.
“You have my permission as the CEO of Hatsume Inc!”
“Dekiru, the Medical Hero?” He heard Tenya say, smirking as he looked at the green-haired teen. “Or Doctor Dekiru?”
Izuku only rolled his eyes at that one, laughing. “I don’t think Midnight would approve of that name.”
Their break continued on for a few more minutes, just taking time together to breathe and relax, enjoying the company. Now that everything had passed, Izuku admitted that being able to have his group of friends both at school and at the clinic was something he did not realize he needed. He did not have to hide from Tenya, or Ochako, or Shoto. He laughed to himself, thinking they just needed to convince Tsu-san to join, and they’d be set. She would be an amazing therapist.
...How hard would that be? Hmm.
- - -
As night began to come to an end, the last of his checks being finished, Izuku switched back into his casual clothes as he saw his mother waiting for him, herself driven over to come get him as he smiled, waving her over.
“Ready my hero?” She said, hugging him, with him only jokingly protesting as he let himself be hugged by his loving mother, knowing his friends saw and wouldn’t joke too much. She was the Mamadoriya after all, everyone knew her and loved her and her hugs.
Before the green-haired duo could move to the door, Natsuo could be heard getting their attention, the two turning as he walked over, a chaotic grin on his face as the others followed. “One thing before you leave!”
“Oh?”
“We have good news to share with you, Lovely Mamadoriya!” Natsuo said, gesturing greatly to Izuku. “Our Green Bean’s friend, Tenya, is now a dispatcher trainee! After two weeks as a donator, he is officially our newest recruit!”
Izuku looked over in confusion, not understanding the posing before his mother smirked with mischief. “Oh really? That is amazing!”
“Yagi has the goods, and fair warning, check the group chat,” he said as she nodded, pulling her phone out, Izuku confused as he never once heard his phone go off, before she started laughing, himself tall enough over her to see the messages, his eyes narrowing.
Latest Pool: Donator to Recruiter?!
Oh No: NEVER AGAIN AM I BETTING AGAINST YOU INKO
EnTheWhore: It was the only slot left in her defense?
ChillVibes: I call rigged! We know that you put that money towards Greenie’s Katsudon addiction!
Papanori: Apologies! I was in a meeting! What have I missed?
EnTheWhore: Glorious Lord Yagi! Master of the Clinic! Signer of our Paychecks!
SweaterWeather: We don’t get paid.
EnTheWhore: Mamadoriya did! She won the bet! Our new kid, Tenya, is now a Dispatcher Trainee!
Papanori: How Marvelous! I will have your money, Inko!
MorningBird: I am disappointed in Izuku. I will never get another miniute of peace from my husband over this.
Oh No: The couch is very peaceful.
EnTheWhore: Read your name?
Mamadoriya: Thank you for the laughs dears! Toshi-sweetie, please just donate the money to a giant dinner for the crew? We survived a long two weeks, we deserve to celebrate!
MorningBird: Mamadoriya you are the most amazing woman ever.
Papanori: Here here! How does Sunday sound!
...
...
“...Mama....”
“Yes, sweetie?”
“...Did you, my own mother, gamble about my friends?” He asked, betrayal in his voice at his lovely mother’s cruelties.
“No, of course not sweetie,” she said, attempting to hug him before he moved to look at her, aware of her evil ways now. “Not a gamble when Mama always wins!”

Day: Saturday, Second Week of June, Night-time
“...I still cannot believe what I’m seeing,” was said by Aizawa as he and the other hero walked along the rooftops, intending to meet with some others. For him this was his shift, even if not his usual patrol route, so being here made sense, but the man leading the way had no such excuse.
It was absurdity as Aizawa looked at the pony-tail that All Might’s hair was in, longer than Hizashi’s thanks to those hair extensions he put in, before tying them together. Those ridiculous bunny ears were now the same length as his hair with these modifications, put back to make it appear to be a long ponytail as he walked, turning around to smile.
“No one expects it!” He said, as Aizawa took a better look at what the man was wearing.
He looked like a damn joke with that giant ankle-length duster coat, complete with baggy black cargo pants and some kind of shirt and vest. All in dark colors of course as he only tipped his hat, putting it back on to cover his pointy head.
“I still cannot believe that the vigilante Scarecrow dresses like that,” Aizawa grumbled as look looked afully at the ensemble. The man’s boots were heavy duty, but now that the teacher and hero knew, he could see the subtle signs that they were modified to fit his feet. He could appreciate the gloves too, especially when Yagi explained how they were able to in an emergency modify in shape and size to support his full fist if he needed to transform and punch someone. Really it was the damn hat and the cane that did it for him, the cane not the one he usually carried in his, Aizawa chuckled as he thought it, Small Might form. His normal cane looked like something someone his age, and health would use, but this one looked just useless and impractical for someone to use.
Though, Aizawa admitted as he saw the man move, seeing the subtle display light up around the in a projective HUD, he could admit, there was at least some practicality. No one would assume that some secretary from Might Tower, or the colorful idiot All Might himself, would be this skeletal looking vigilante. He also knew from what happened a few weeks back that the cane itself as a weapon, so he could trust it.
“Nothing reported,” Scarecrow said as they continued to walk, meeting up with what were two figures, one stockier than the other, the other Aizawa could not identify anything on, only seeing the glowing markings on their body.
“Took your damn time, son,” the vigilante said, looking with a grumble at Aizawa, the hero staring back, unimpressed. This vigilante was an old man, even older than Yagi, wearing very... old and traditional clothing. He would have to ask Nemuri about it, but the style was like an old monk in wearing multiple kimono robes and a sash with pants and some kind of face covering, obscuring all but his eyes which expressed more than enough. “You’re Eraserhead,” was said simply.
“I am, and you are?” As he said this, Aizawa noticed that he was carrying his own weapon, akin to how Yagi had his, though this one was one that Aizawa recognized, being a tsukubo, a polearm used to push people or even trip them.
He saw that the old man and the Scarecrow had a quick conversation with only their eyes, something Aizawa patiently watched and waited through, before the old man removed his face cloth, showing a bare face and head, like an elderly monk. The hero... had no idea who this was supposed to be, before the old man smirked, removing his phone from a pocket somewhere in that robe, and showing a picture of.... the hero... Yoroi Musha....
“You cannot be serious,” Aizawa said as he felt his patient thin even more. “How many of you?” He said with a groan, feeling his life just about to leave his body.
“Ha, you joke but we break no laws. At least, us two don’t.”
Aizawa glared at that, before he paused, eyes narrowing before he activated his quirk, waiting for the tell-tale sensation of a quirk being repressed, before he felt his heart stop.
“You’re quirkless?”
“Quite rude of you, kid! But yes!” He said as he put his face covering back on. “The Number 9 Pro Hero, one of the oldest heroes still in the field, is a quirkless old man,” he said with a smirk that could be seen still. “Surprise?”
“How many quirkless heroes are there?” Aizawa asked, almost uncertain if he wanted to know the answer as Yagi spoke up.
“I only know of three of us. Young Hatsume as you met him, myself of course, and Benkei here!”
“Benkei?” Aizawa asked, curious about their familiarity.
“Yagi Benkei, the Kind Old Man at your service,” the man said with a respectful bow, before gesturing. “We have work to do, and you may as well meet the other two.”
“Two?” He asked, before pausing, seeing it. The subtle sign of gloves and little else....
“...Hey sensei....”
He was glad tomorrow was Sunday.
- - -
“We did find a few leads, and even were able to get a tracker on a few henchmen who work under Giran,” was explained by Yagi, the older one as they moved quickly across the rooftops. “They should be meeting tonight, so we can get some information and possibly even follow them.”
“Ideally we would be able to get a tracker on their warper. He would be useful to track back to their hideout,” Aizawa said simply as the group of five stopped, seeing their reached their rendezvous.
“Leave that to me!” said the voice of his student as he turned, scowling, ready to lecutre before relenting. Operation now. Lecture later. “I... I know that look sensei, but between me and Shi-kun we have a lot of experience,” she said as he only glared.
“And who is that?”
“...Uh... if I tell you... you won’t get him in trouble?”
“Is he another student?” was all that was said as Aizawa sighed. “Is he a student of my class?”
“No sir, he is part of class 1—”
“Then I don’t care. That’s his teacher’s problem.” He was going to make all of his students write papers on illegal activities and then he was going to expel himself from Class 1-A.
The group slowly moved to watch from different locations as Aizawa noticed the targets slowly gathering in place at a building. He noticed quickly his student vanishing, having removed her gloves he suspected to move even more quietly and unnoticed. He remembered that it came up in a conversation, the other female students asking the invisible girl what happened when something was eaten, or put in her earrings with her revealing that if she had her hair over her ears she could keep an earbud wire hidden. He realized this must have been how she knew this.
“For what it is worth, Eraserhead, I did not know about her,” Aizawa scowled before he only nodded. “Reminds me... Sohei, what is her name?”
“Dani Phantom, simple and effective,” he heard the old man say.
“Sohei?”
“That is the short name for me as a Vigilante, and more proper what it is, but it is more fun to let people say that a kind old man saved them.”
“You are a menace, Yagi-san.”
“All Yagis are menaces. Trait of our generation,” Scarecrow said with a small laugh.
“Geriatrics,” was said, getting their attention as Nightlight spoke up. “Focus. We have a job to do.” They spoke calmly and sternly, Aizawa’s eye narrowing. This one was the odd one out. They were just a vigilante. He would have to research them later. It seemed they were the one his student was learning from. A vigilante with a glowing light quirk, seeming to have lights streaming where their veins and arteries.
Noted.
They heard the gentle tapping sound, a pattern Aizawa recognized as morse code as he silently translated it.
H.E.R.E.
Everyone stayed quiet, watching from their vantage points. The building had two entrances, front and side, while there were also windows leading to the second floor that had stairs. Nightlight and Benkei spoke up that they would take the upper floor in an emergency while Eraserhead and Scarecrow would take the entrances, the side entrance being Eraserhead’s so he can slip in with his quirk, while Scarecrow would be their heavy hitter with that cane of his.
There was a subtle bit of static as the microphones that Phantom placed began to pick up sound, going to the four of their ears as he knew Scarecrow’s system would record. It was not perfect, Aizawa would have to teach his students about placing wires better later, but it was good enough.
“Giran claimed Stain worked with you lot?”
“Yes, prior to his confrontation with the hero Endeavor, he met and spoke with the League of Villains’ commander, Shigaraki Tomura. From Tomura there was discussion about them working together.”
“Word travels fast, smokey. We heard about how they kicked your asses already, the school heroes did. Without All Might. It was that rescue space fucker.”
“Their hero designation is Thirteen, and yes, there was a coo-”
“I don’t give a fuck about the name, dude. We ain’t making an enemy of All Might, or any of those other heroes. We’ll keep Stain alive on our own,” was said as several people began to leave, until only it sounded like two were in the room with Kurogiri, Aizawa grimaced as he knew one was his student.
“...I want to help....” That was a child’s voice.
“What is your name?”
“Uh... call me... uh... Mustard! Yeah. That’s my villain name!”
“...You are young,” was said, no other words.
“Yea? So what?”
“Young one, are you su-” Aizawa paused as he heard Kurogiri ask these questions. He felt everyone else pause.
“I’ll prove it to you! I can beat anyone you send at me! I can stop anyone! My quirk is powerful! I wil-”
“...Mustard,” the man moved. “Why do you want to be a villain? Do you align with Stain’s goals so strongly?”
“...My parents threw me away when I put them to sleep. I am just a villain already they said. Giran gave me a place to stay.”
“And what does Giran ask of you in return?” Aizawa paused, as he realized he heard that come from Nightlight over their comms.
“Giran is kind.”
“Yeah. He said I can make it up to him when I am an adult if I wanted.”
“If you wanted?”
“Yeah, old man’s all soft an’ shit.”
“I see. And you want to pay him back today?”
“...I hate heroes. They have quirks but they do what they want. Midnight’s quirk is the same as mine but she didn’t get kicked out of her home I bet.” Aizawa paused as he heard that, wanting to speak up, but knowing now was not the time.
Nemuri needed to know about this kid.
“...Alright. What is your quirk?”
“I create a cloud of poison gas, and it can put people to sleep.”
“I see. Can you control the cloud?”
“...No... and it hurts me if I use it without a mask.”
“Hence your gas mask you are wearing?”
“...Yea... Giran made it.”
“A kind man indeed.”
“Please? Let me do this for him?”
“...Let me ask Tomura. Please... give me a few minutes, and I will return. We will speak with him then.” The sound of the warp activating got their attention. They heard the sound of the kid sitting on a box, before they heard more sounds.
“Dani? What’s going on?”
Tapping could be heard, spelling everything out.
C.R.Y.I.N.G. N.O. M.A.S.K.
“Dani, do you think you can put a tracker on the mask?”
Aizawa felt himself ready to argue, but paused as they heard the tapping.
D.O.N.E.
“Good job, Phantom. Be careful and if you need, leave. We can trace him from here if he goes with Kurogiri to their headquarters,” Aizawa said before they heard the warp activating, the villain returning. “Is it just Kurogiri?”
O.N.E.
“Stay and be careful.”
“...I spoke to Tomura, and he would like to meet you,” Kurogiri said, before everyone heard the movement of cloth from pocket. “I also brought this, to help you wipe your eyes, young Mustard.”
“I-I can do it,” he weakly tried to growl as they could all visualize it from the subtle sounds. Mustard was sitting right by a wiretap.
“I know. You have fought much in your young age. Let me be here for you.”
Soon the sound of the warp activating was heard again as the two of them vanished. Scarecrow’s HUD immediately got to work, tracking and following the location, recording every blip, every sign as their student spoke up.
“I’m good!” They all saw her approaching, donning her gloves and boots again. Aizawa paused, as he realized something with growing horror.
“Hagakure, Monday, see me at lunch. I need to have words with you about your costume.”
“...eh?!”
“...Wait a minute, you cannot be serious,” was heard from Nightlight, as they looked at the others. “Dani, what is your costume at school?”
“...Uh....”
Aizawa was so thankful tomorrow was Sunday, and his shift was almost over.
Notes:
Mustard is such an under utilized story concept, and I wanted to change that up. Plus I have a weakness for Mamagiri.

Chapter Text
Day: Sunday, Third Week of June, Day-time
Izuku let out a small cheer as he listened to one of the members of the group meeting share about their new friend, the group following in celebration. “Congratulations! I am glad your new school has already gotten better for you!”
“Thank you Izu-Senpai! And she knows I am Quirkless already and has said she does not care!”
Everyone gave reassurances as he only nodded, following along. “That is wonderful! Anyone else have anything to share with us?”
“I-I got a boyfriend, he knows I’m Q, and he’s okay with it. He... he actually told me he wants to become a hero with me.” One of the shyer kids spoke up as Izuku looked, his face softening as he almost felt a tear leave his eyes. He was a good kid, shy and scared to speak sometimes, which reflected in how he was a third generation Quirkless, hence him calling himself a Q, the older term used, so he was used to so much.
“That is... amazing. You must tell us more about him,” Izuku gently pressed, smiling as everyone was giving their undivided attention, even Aoy- Yuuga, who was sitting to the side, awkward but listening. Normally Hound Dog would have joined, or, rather, the new normal, but he was busy so Izuku did not have to try and accomodate one of his teachers sitting in on his meeting.
It was adorable as the kid spoke up more, telling everyone about his new boyfriend. He was only 12, but that only made it more fun for the green-haired teen as he watched how everyone else supported him. Slowly the meeting completed itself, everyone standing and putting the chairs back in place.
“How is school going for you Izu-Senpai?” Izuku smiled as one of his kids, the ones he was a peer mentor for specifically, approached as he cleaned up the table. “You’re a hero now!”
“Not just me, Yuuga here is one too!” He said, gesturing to his friend, who was afraid almost as he watched. “And it has been so much fun. I have a lot of friends.”
“That is so cool! And you’re a hero too? Are you like us?! Does your belt work like a quirk? Are yo-”
“Uh, uh,”
“Alright, calm down and one question at a time, Yuuga, do you mind taking her out to talk while I finish cleaning?”
- - -
“M-mon Ami, I do not know how you do it,” Yuuga said as they both sat in his office, Izuku laughing to himself as he watched the French teen’s pale face.
“It is not that hard,” he said as he looked at his computer and then his planner, taking note. “Nice, I am free for about 30 minutes, I want to do a quick checkup on how you’re healing, is that okay?”
“You sure?” Yuuga said as he looked, the doctor smiling as he gestured to Yuuga’s stomach. “Mon ami, do you just want me to take my shirt off in front of you?” He said, teasing as he watched his classmate blush and stumble. Revenge was so sweet as Yuuga lowered his pants a bit, raising his shirt more.
“Hmm, your incision scar is doing very well. I think I can get you scar reduction cream next week when we get a new shipment in, is that okay for you?”
“Oui,” Yuuga said, shivering slightly at the gloved hands of Izuku tracing along his side, tracing along the small bit of muscle Yuuga had as the green-haired doctor took notes. “Good now?”
“Hmm, yeah, we’re good. I am thinking you may be able to slowly push it in a few more days. I am worried how your quirk would affect you,” Izuku said as he took note, before he shook his head. “Anyways, now we get to relax before my patient’s appointment.”
“I thought you were a surgeon, non? You have patients too?”
“We kind of cover all fields here. I am technically an Emergency Physician, but I also have enough training in Family Medicine that I have a few patients I meet with, more children who was Quirkless, or are from Quirkless families.”
“H-how did you study all tha-”
“We all did, not just me! Technically Natsuo has more training than I do in that he is a General Surgeon as well as specialist in Palliative Care. I am more the Emergency Surgeon, he is the General Surgeon.”
“O-oh. Natsuo is, uh, Himura’s brother?”
“Yep! They are the two trolls.”
“Trolls?”
“Long story,” Izuku said as he got the ding. “Patient’s here! Do you mi-”
“Oh! No, I’ll go visit with one of the others, and see you soon?”
“Alright! I’ll page for you,” he said as he tidied up his desk a bit, removing the file folder on his patient as he waited, hearing the door knock and open as his patient walked in with her parent. “Good afternoon, how are you two doing?”
- - -
“Sound healthy to me! How are you feeling?”
“Good! Dad said we’re going out to eat after this!” She said with a smile as Izuku nodded his head, smiling at both of them.
“Kizuki-san, need I give you a stern lecture on healthy food?” Izuku said, joking as the dad picked up on his tone.
“Hmm, maybe. I was thinking of that ice cream place after for dessert, but you know, what if your doctor says no, darling?”
“He wouldn’t dare! Izu-Sensei knows that ice cream is good for me! Isn’t that right?” She said, pouting as Izuku laughed.
“Sorry, Kizuku-san, but it is true. Quirkless people need at least fifty percent more ice cream than Quirked people. I am sure I can find the old research article on it,” he said, laughing as they joked around more. The dad had improved a lot since a few weeks ago, having found a safer part of town to live in without risk of any more domestic issues, and getting his daugther a PCP. Izuku smiled as the two left his office, himself quickly sanitizing the exam bed and making sure everything was in order for his next patient, only to see he didn’t have one.
“...That’s wei-”
“Emergency!” Izuku jumped as Hiro ran in, scaring the teen. “A terrible, medical, emergency!”
“W-what is going on?!” Izuku looked before seeing Hiro smirk, the doctor grabbing his arm.
“Emergency luncheon. No choice. Let’s go!” He said before dragging him away, the teen struggling as he was dragged towards a table with several boxes of food spread out, plates to the side. “The Ambulance guys brought us food.”
“This does not constitute an Emergency Kohaku-san!” Izuku said, intentionally trying to sound professional as his friend and coworker laughed, grabbing a plate. “I’m being serious!”
“Yeah yeah, get some food you’re being cranky, Izu.” Izuku grumbled as he grabbed himself different food, seeing that several of their favorites were here.
“...Are they bribing us?”
“Nah, just wanted to be nice to their dispatchers, the others on Day Shift grabbed their stuff and left already.”
“Did they leave an-”
“Izuku, you’re their boss, I think they’d be scared to leave you without at least a small plate,” Hiro said with a chuckle as the two started to grab places and different food items, Izuku following the adult to the Dispatch Center to sit down and start eating.
- - -
“So, spill the beans. How many of your school-friends you roping in?” Hiro asked as they were working in the Dispatch Center together. Izuku had nothing at the moment so he could catch up on homework and his additional studying for his licensing exams.
Izuku paused as he looked up and at his friend’s face, seeing the grin as he felt his eyes narrow, remembering the group chat. “Sus.”
“It is, huh?” He said with a chuckle. “So, the answer?”
“Not dignifying with one,” Izuku said with an eye-roll, resuming his work.
“You have, what, nineteen classmates? We have how many currently here? Speedy Gonzales, Disco Ball, Fire Troll Zuko, and Lava Lamp, right?”
“I hate that I knew exactly who each were by your names, Hiro-kun.”
“So that leaves only fifteen. What do you think, about four for a total of eight classmates? Sound reasonable?”
“Who’s betting on what?”
“Promise to not rig it?”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Your mom said you’ll have by end of summer an additional three and even gave us names. I said four and Babe said five.”
“Okay, and?”
“Yamakawa-san said you’ll have only one more, because you’ll have a busy summer, but Granny said you’ll have the ‘entire damn school working here’ before too long.”
“And the director?”
“Oh, he said none, that you’ll be too busy working on your classes and furthering yourself as a hero that you’ll want to not spend time onboarding new employees!” At this point Izuku noticed that Hiro had his phone out, paraphrasing the others. “Natsu said you’ll hav-”
The phone rang, getting their attention as Hiro immediately put his phone down, grabbing his pen and answering the call in a swift motion. Izuku felt himself tense as he was ready, but listened.
“Thank you for calling us, my name is Hiro, how may I help?” He only nodded, though at one point taking a look at Izuku as his eyes told the doctor he was needed. “Alright, I’ll get an ambulance to your location soon, stay on the phone with me, okay?”
Izuku felt himself moving to the ambulance bay to gear up, but stopped as he remembered his promise, cursing himself as he instead went to the just the drop-off zone to begin triage work as this patient arrived. His pager dinged to alert him as he looked, seeing both the ETA as well as being told Sayo will be here too for Mental Health First Aid.
That...that is worrying. Izuku breathed slowly as he could only wait, dread boiling in his stomach.
The ambulance drove in, his crew bringing the patient in on a gurney as he felt himself stiffen, recognizing the kid. It was his kid. He just saw him at their support meeting. He... he had a bo-
No. None of that. Focus on the task as he immediately moved with the crew into the exam room, listening as they noted for him vitals. The kid was damaged from multiple lacerations, a puncture, and contusions across the body, and was found in an alley-way meaning there was a high risk of infection. Izuku immediately took note as he gently woke the kiddo. His kiddo, he growled softly under his breath.
“Hey, you awake? Hikaru?” Izuku asked as slowly he stirred, looking at Izuku as his eyes began to tear up. “Hey, it’s me,” he said, giving a gentle smile as he held the kid’s hand. “I have a few questions before I start stitching you up, okay?”
- - -
The puncture required the most work, but the rest were thankfully able to be taken care of with a combination of sutures for a few and butterfly bandages for the others. He was bruised badly, but nothing that some cream and rest couldn’t fix. No concussion, no damage to organs.
His bo- ex-boyfriend that should be noted, did this with his friends. Lured him into the alleyway where he was surrounded and attacked. Izuku felt his blood boil as he excused himself, making the excuse he needed to get labs checked.
He wasn’t even sure how far he made it down the hall.
Anger. A burning anger. He felt his quirk activate, the promise of One For All screaming at him to bring judgement on them. No. Not judgement.
Revenge
He could get the information from the group. From his kid. He would hunt them down. They wouldn’t be able to stop him. No one could. He knew how t-
“Izu? Are you able to hear me?”
He felt someone grabbing him. He wanted to pull back, but they felt, familiar. They sounded it at least. Who, who was it?
“Izuku, can you smell my perfume?” Rose. It was rose oil. Something neutral but good smelling. He smelled it. He remembered. Someone he worked with wore it a lot. Right?
He felt his hands, damaged from his quirk usage, being massaged as he slowly found himself coming back. He looked, seeing Sayo as she smiled softly, her red hair framing her face as she held his hands. “Can you say something for me?”
“...sorry.”
“What for? What’s the matter?”
“I... how long was I out?”
“Maybe a minute, maybe two. No one else caught you, but I already expected it. Silly as he can be, he knows you,” she said with a smile, holding his hands still. “Are you okay to continue? I can call in someone?”
“I-I’ll be alright. Let’s get to work saving lives,” Izuku said, feeling his anger still there, but less as the Crisis Clinician and Doctor went back to work to check on the kid.
- - -
He still felt the weight of Hikaru’s hand in his as the kid cried himself to sleep. He still felt the fear his kid felt, the shame. He was twelve, he did not deserve that. A cruel voice in Izuku’s head reminded him the entire reason he’s here is because no one deserved it, but got it still.
His grandfather came and picked the kiddo up, taking them both home. Nightlight was already asked to keep an eye out around their apartment, and Izuku before he realized he did it sent a text message asking if Eraserhead was out to do patrol and would mind adding the area to his route. He did not say specifics, just that there had been a hate crime today and he wanted the family safe.
His teacher was chiding for him working on the weekend, but followed up telling him that he would add the area to his patrol route, himself getting ready to head out anyways. Izuku really did trust and appreciate his teacher, the hero was an amazing man.
He finished his paperwork, and found the doorway being gently knocked as he saw his friends. Hiro must have called them in, as they all grabbed him, and led him out for the night. Apparently they were going to eat out, then go do karaoke, even Tenya dropping his usual push on healthy schedules as he was surrounded by his friends.
Tenya. Ochako. Shoto. Mei. The five of them.
Notes:
I made two subtle references within the chapter and other characters! I am curious who may catch them! Hint for one is that the previous chapter provides context!
You are all amazing and loved, I do apologize for having taken so long to write this up, after finals ended for semester with university I was swamped in work with multiple long-nights, and only once everything calmed down at work I had four different relatives end up in the hospital including my older brother. It was a lot.
I will be writing more soon!
Chapter 4: A seemingly innocent chapter

Chapter Text
Day: Monday, Third Week of June, Day-time
“Go eat lunch and don’t break the cafeteria. Heroics will be working on your costumes. I’m going to sleep.” Everyone in class watched as their instructor disappeared under his desk, before slowly rising, concerned.
“Is it just me, or did Aizawa-sensei seem more tired than usual?”
“Not just you, you think something kept him up last night?”
“Damn hobo probably doesn’t know how to sleep.”
“Bro, that’s not possible, it is so easy, you can do it with your ey-”
“For fuck’s sake, shut it!” an explosion punctuated the sound as the classmates of 1-A moved through the hallway, Izuku rolling his eyes at the antics as he looked at the others. They only laughed to themselves with the exception of Tenya who seemed ready to scold “Bitch-amite” as Ochako was calling him again.
“Any ideas what we’ll be working on with our costumes?” Izuku asked as he looked, the group sitting around with their food, Tsu having joined in.
“Maybe additional gear or maybe even fixing stuff?”
“Like your boots?” Izuku asked, his friend pouting and glaring as he smirked at her. Since she got her costume the way her boots sat had been a constant prodding point.
“I would not mind changing my boots,” Shoto spoke up, looking at everyone. “I need better traction.”
“I for one think this will be a good opportunity to identify weaknesses that exist with mine! I admi-” As Tenya began to go on one of his rants, Izuku felt a gentle tap on his shoulder, causing him to turn around and see one of his classmates from Class 1-B.
“Midoriya-san, are you free?” was asked as he looked, mentally trying to remember who she was. He nodded his head, as he slowly remembered who the blonde was.
“I’m free, how can I help you, Tsunotori-san?”
He slowly stood up, leaving the others to talk as he followed her, seeing the table she was sitting at where he immediately recognize the others, being Monoma, Shiozaki, Kendo, and Rin. “Oh, hello everyone.”
“Hello Midoriya-san.” “Hey 1-A”, “Hey Bone-breaker”, “Blessed day” were sent his way as he looked over, confused.
“Uh, before we start, do you know what I am saying?” Tsunotori-san asked, the green-haired teen pausing as he was confused before realizing she was speaking in English, nodding his head and smiling. “Oh hell yeah! I reckon you know ‘bout U.S. Heroes?” she asked, him struggling at moments for his accent before he smirked.
“I know a thing or two, what’s up?”
“Mind explaining to them how State Heroes and National Heroes work?”
“Of course,” was said before he paused, looking to them and switching back languages. “Tsunotori-san was explaining that confusion was with American heroics?”
“That is correct, it appears there is a misunderstanding of language and culture. We were trying to explain to her, but perhaps you could, how there could only be one Number 1 Hero in America.” The vine-haired student of 1-B said with a soft look on her face.
“You are basing this off Japan’s Heroics, yes?” Izuku asked, Monoma-san jumping up to speak loudly.
“Of course! What kind of question is that?”
“...Is America different to Japan?” Rin-san asked. “Japan and China are similar, I thought maybe America was too.”
“America... is weird,” Izuku said, ignoring the scoff he heard from Tsunotori-san as he quickly continued. “They’re like fifty third world countries in a trench coat,” he said, thankful that she did not understand that phrase.
“Okay?”
“You are thinking that the American states are like the prefectures here in Japan, right?” At the nodding he continued. “Kind of, the difference is that the scale of size. Hokkaido for example is barely the size of a single state in Japan, while most prefectures are more like the size of a part of a state, what they ca-,” he paused, thinking of the word before looking at her. “County?”
“County.”
“Okay,” he said before switching, “Counties. So, think of America like 50 very large Hokkaidos, each one a different culture, different laws, different everything, and that is how it works.”
“How does that explain the different heroics then? Hokkaido does not have their own heroes, they are all under Japan.”
“Japan is more unified. During the First Quirk Wars America broke apart multiple times only to come back together, remember?” At the blank looks, he only sighed softly. “It is complicated, but each state has their own heroics system and then there is the national one too,” he said, looking at the American in the room, who nodded her head.
“Macau and Hong Kong don’t have that.” Rin-san spoke up, himself in thought as Izuku nodded.
“I don’t know much about China’s Heroics, I am sorry.”
“No issue. I’ll ask my grandfather back home.”
“Anyways, so, each state has their own top 10 heroes that are based in the state, then there is independently of the states 10 heroes that are the top American Heroes. The hero Stars and Stripe is that way, she is nationally the Top Hero of America, but she isn’t in any of the states, is that correct?” He once again looked as she nodded.
“Because she is based out of DC.”
“Oh! Yeah!”
“So there are over fifty Number 1 heroes?” Monoma-san said, confused for once, a look Izuku was not used to seeing on the uppity blonde.
“It is confusing, but yes.”
“So... Pony was right, we were wrong. I must apologize for doubting you,” Kendo said, bowing respectfully to her classmate, the latter smiling as they all sat back down. “If I may ask, Midoriya, why do you know so much about heroics of other nations? You gave us that speech on the International Heroes the other week too.”
“I... I like to learn stuff, that is the best I got,” he said, blushing as the others only nodded.
“Understandable.”
“Thank you Greenie!” Tsunotori-san said as he only smiled and turned around, only to find himself standing in front of one of his teachers. He paused, looking up at Midnight as she smirked.
“Uh... hello Midnight-sensei.”
“Hello kiddo, please do me a favor and grab your lunch? We have very important things to discuss now,” she said, smirking in a way that terrified the student. It was only then that he realized how quiet the cafeteria had been, as people were all listening to him talk.
Tsu walked his lunch over, waving him off as he saw the looks from his friends, their own smirks matching the one their teacher commonly gave. He only sighed as he followed.
“H-how much trouble am I in?”
“Oh just enough,” she said, moving to the staff room as she opened the door. “Do you mind sitting for me?”
He sat, before pausing, seeing the yellow sleeping bag of his teacher hidden in a side room, suspiciously decorated to be Present Mic’s office. “Uh, sensei,” he asked as the bag moved, his teacher glaring at him. “...sorry did I wake you?”
“No, her heels woke me long before you spoke up.” He said, glaring as Midnight winked at him, coming back over. “What is it, Problem Child.”
“I just wanted to say thank you, you know, for adding that house to your route last night?” He said, trying to not think how he phrased it almost as if he was asking if he could thank his teacher.
“Hold on, Shouta, you worked on your night off?” Midnight said, her face in shock as she looked at Izuku in equal shock. “Kid, you’re good.”
“Shut up,” he said to her before looking at Izuku. “You’re welcome, Midoriya. Our job as heroes is to protect people, even if it means taking an extra shift on occasion, and my job as your teacher is to set a good example and be a role model of a good hero.”
“T-thank you though, we... we are not used to it,” he said, softly feeling tears threatening to pool before he slowly willed them away.
“That just means I have to work harder to fix that, until you and others can take that place.”
“Anyways, I have a request for you, Midoriya!” Midnight said, smiling as she slowly held paperwork out to him. “Next year I want you to help me teach a class on the history of both International Heroics and Heroics in other countries. Are you up to it?”
“N-next year? That is so far from now?!”
“It is, I want you to take your time to learn for it, you’re going to be busy with everything else, after all,” she said, before she sat down, pulling out another stack of papers. “I also wanted to give you a quick rundown of your peer meeting supervision I did the other day, if you have time?”
Overwhelmed, Izuku only could take a bite of his food and nod as his teacher began. Once again, Izuku really questioned his life, and what was even going on.
- - -
The unbearable ringing of a phone got the attention of one Magne as she sighed, slowly leaning up from her apartment’s bed to answer. “Yes?”
“Hey girl, this is your best friend,” she only rolled her eyes at Giran’s voice before he chuckled. “Just joking. Hey, there is a meeting tomorrow evening with the League, they want your answer about joining.”
“I’ll be by, who’ll all be there?”
“A few people you knew from jobs like Twice and Muscular,” Magne groaned at the latter, herself hating that idiot. “And a few new kids that I’ve found who are determined to work with the League.”
“You’re recruiting kids now, Giran?”
“Eh, take what you can get. One of them is a little kid who is convinced he needs to pay me back for him not being homeless. Actually... do you mind doing me a favor with that twerp?”
“Hmm?”
“Protect him? He’s a kid, in over his head.” Magne knew she was the only one that Giran dropped his act with, showing his actual kinder side. They’d been together for years now, and they knew how much the other cared.
“Of course, I can adopt another stray.”

Chapter Text
Day: Monday, Third Week of June, Heroics Class
“Oh wow! The Support class is here!” Ochako said as she and Izuku walked into the Gym in their hero gear. They were told that they had to dress up in their entire costume with support items for class today, and now Izuku was starting to get an idea as to why.
“Maybe any last-minute changes before our final exams?” The green-haired student said as he looked around, realizing that it was mostly the third year students, him not seeing the familiar dreadlocks of Mei. “No Mei.”
“Your girlfriend is not here. Shame.” Shoto said from the side as they caught up, Izuku sighing as he looked at his friend, the two-toned human looking around.
“If this is the pace you normally show up for class I will be docking All Might’s pay,” everyone instinctively picked up the pace as they saw Aizawa-sensei staring them down. “That’s better. Now quit gawking at the Support Course students. They’ll be examining you and be available as all of you train today.”
“What kind of training sir!?” Tenya said, excitedly standing proud as others followed up. Aizawa sighing before looking at them all.
“You’ll be running drills in your costumes after you talk with them. Any concerns you have before drills, bring them up. After you will talk with them again. I’ll be putting each one of you through drills tailor made to make you bleed.” He said, eyes glowing as he gave them all a smirk.
“In the meanwhile, you will be doing normal drills to keep up your energy. We’ll be going in class order,” he said as Yuuga stepped forward, where immediately one of the third years caught up with him and they walked away. This continued, student by student, as Aizawa and Power Loader stood by, occasionally asking their own questions.
Izuku met with his own hero support student, the young man smiling as he was asked to do basic stretches and movements. “Your quirk as I understand it grants you an energy field through which you channel movements?”
“Uh, more or less yes. It is a bit more complicated than that,” Izuku said, before pausing, not wanting to talk too much. The student smiled, gesturing for him to speak.
“I was picked to go with you because I am good at parsing information. Not my quirk mind you, but I am good with transcribing.” He explained as Izuku nodded, launching into as much of an explanation of his quirk as he had been able to create thanks to working with Mei. During the explanation he had been asked to activate his quirk, Izuku nodding as he went through what he learned with Airjet, activating One for All to coat him in a plasma field, calming the violent storm of power.
“Alright then very nice! Now, let’s talk about you as a hero. I understand from Power Loader-sensei that you have worked with Hatsume-kouhai in the past, what are you working on with her right now, and what kind of hero are you trying to be with your quirk?”
That. That actually made Izuku pause as he felt his quirk fluctuate, the student’s smile growing as he almost laughed. “Not a poker master I see,” he said as he gestured to the glowing energy. “No one has ever asked that of you since you joined 1-A?”
“N-no, sorry. I kind of made my own decisions and figured from experience, but-”
“But Aizawa-sensei never actually asked? I’ve heard that before. Apparently his style is to teach you heroics of all types, then wait for you to approach him, from what my girlfriend told me at least,” he said as he gestured over for them to walk and talk, Izuku maintaining his energy field the entire time. “So, I’ll ask you as your upperclassman. What kind of hero will Dekiru be?”
Izuku paused at the question. In truth, he had not really come to figure that out still. He did want to be Limelight, or at least a Twilight hero, as he wanted to be seen to help those like him, to inspire.
But... he also thought about yesterday. A Limelight hero would not have been there to help Hikaru, the poor Q boy who had been hurt. All Might was not there that night to watch over his home and area, Eraserhead was. NightLight was out too last night, not a Limelight sidekick. But did he only want to be Underground, where only a few would see him save lives?
He also was a doctor, and a dispatcher. How would that fit into this? For the first time. Izuku really did not know what to say. It never clicked to him. Or had he just been ignoring it to focus on the present moment and his idealized dream?
That was it too, wasn’t it? His dream was going to be coming true soon. It wasn’t a fantasy, a far off future possibility. It was happening. UA was making it happen. He was going to become an actual doctor soon. A licensed peer. A licensed paramedic. What kind of hero would he be then? A medical hero like Recovery Girl, in spite of his Quirk, and the destiny put on him by his twice hero? Would One For All have been worthy of being his if he only was a medical hero? Shouldn’t he be like All Might?
All Might who Izuku learned only a few months back from Granny of all people was a former Vigilante himself?! The Scarecrow!
Izuku... did not know.
He felt his quirk fluctuate almost out of control, before he finally lost concentration completely and it gave out, leaving him panting as he found himself unsure what to say.
“Whoa, hey, kiddo, breathe with me okay? Let’s go for a bit more of a walk, and you can think some more okay?” He said as Izuku nodded.
After a few minutes of walking, he broached the subject again. “My girlfriend went through different phases herself. She wanted to be Limelight but her quirk isn’t really a good quirk for Limelights. She then went towards Support. Was how we got together. And then she decided to go back to Limelight, but with support gear to make up for her feeling that her Quirk wasn’t right. And now, she’ll be graduating as an Analysis hero with a focus on Underground teamwork specifically.”
“She kept going back to Limelight?”
“Yep! Felt she had to, had to be there for others. But then realized what made her happy.”
“I’m allowed to change my path,” Izuku said, in hindsight knowing how silly it may have sounded, but realizing he needed to say that. He needed to hear that.
“You can, and should. Take time to grow into a hero, and the kind of hero Dekiru is, you’ll figure out! But I still have to ask my question, but let me ask it a different way?”
Izuku nodded, confused.
“I did not ask what path of hero you will be. I am asking what kind of hero do you want to be with your quirk?”
Izuku paused, thought, smiled, as he came to his answer.
- - -
“You’ll be running lines while your quirk is active, then you will be at the end of each set standing there for ten seconds to do various exercises.”
“Sir?”
“Oh, right,” Aizawa said with a smirk. “I’ll be randomly activating my quirk, and Power Loader there will be randomly asking questions. You need to be able to keep up with it while using your quirk and your exercises.”
“Oh.” Izuku felt himself taking a deep breath, before nodding. What he did with Recovery Girl and Nezu then, but with his Quirk.
Why did he feel dread?
