Chapter 1: Prologue
Chapter Text
Haruhi has always struggled romantically.
At the age that children normally start developing crushes, Haruhi had been dealing with the loss of her mother, which ended up severely stunting her love life. She never learned how to ‘like’ someone, so instead she just avoided any real romance. It was easier that way.
So when she arrived at Ouran and met the thrilling host club, she was labeled as one of the few who could resist the hosts' charm. That’s why they took her in, because she wasn’t like other girls at their school. She wasn’t really a girl at all, according to them.
At first, she didn’t mind. She had no interest in attempting to pursue a romantic relationship, but as the year progressed, something in their dynamic changed.
She doesn’t know when she started letting her guard down to them, but by the time she realized it, it was already too late. She no longer felt tense around the Host Club. She felt at ease around them.
That by itself isn’t a real problem though, she’s had plenty of friends before, maybe not as close as she is with the Host Club, but still there. The problem arose when she started missing them. She simply could not stop thinking about them, all of the time, even in her sleep!
Haruhi wasn’t oblivious (though she sometimes acted like it), she knew what these feelings meant. She had a crush, but it wasn’t just on one person.
She had a crush on all six guys.
She tried denying it for weeks, she tried to shake off these feelings, but she just couldn’t. She tried to pick one and move on but then brought up the question of who was the best suitor for her.
She ended up making multiple pros and cons lists for each of the members, a few flowcharts, and even tried the “picking flower petals” method. She gained nothing from this.
Each Host had their own unique charms, and none of them had any bad cons. Frustrated, she consulted her father who told her to “go with the flow”, whatever that meant.
She was at a loss of what to do with her feelings and it was obviously taking a toll on her relationships with them. She tried her best to hide her struggles, but yet each one of them managed to read her like an open book.
They each asked her what was wrong and to each she said with a smile “It’s nothing, don’t worry.”
Though she’s sure they didn’t believe her, thankfully nobody brought it up again. The boys were always good about giving her space when she needed it, well, most of the time at least.
One night, she just couldn’t take it anymore and pulled out the smartphone the twins had bought her for Christmas. She opened her search engine and quickly typed “Liking multiple men.”
She got a few links telling her about polyamory which she’d heard about before. There was one long and lengthy wikipedia article she had read about sexualities for a report, so she knew of polygamy. This wasn’t what she wanted though.
“How to know if you’re polyamorous.” Scroll.
“Polyamory by definition.” Scroll.
“Mice and their sexual tendencies.” What? Scroll.
She almost turned off her phone until she stumbled upon something that peaked her interest. She clicked the screen and what popped up amazed her.
“How to ask out multiple men at once: A Guide.”
Haruhi scrolled through the website, it was a very detailed tutorial that felt a little too specific.
“Step One: Make your feelings clear.
These kinds of relationships can be very intimidating and it’s important to have open and honest communication between each of your lovers. Confess your feelings for each one of them individually and don’t move on until you know they either reciprocate your feelings or don’t.”
Haruhi grimaced, she wasn’t entirely sure her ego could take being rejected by any of them. But something inside of her liked calling them her lovers, so she knew she had to do it, and soon as it was almost graduation.
She had never had a crush before, so she wasn’t exactly sure how to let them know. She’d seen a movie where the main character wrote letters to each of her love interests. That might be her best shot.
She’d follow the tutorial though and hand them out individually. What was she going to write though? Hey let’s be in a polycule?
“Step Two: Introduce your lovers.
If you’re partners don’t already know each other, introduce them and make sure they know what they’re getting into.”
Well, that wasn’t exactly necessary. She definitely needs to tell them that she loves more than one of them but maybe instead of mentioning in their letter, she can tell them in person? Assuming they don’t reject her.
“Step Three: Set boundaries.
Work out what you are and aren’t okay with, make sure each of them know your limits and feel comfortable expressing theirs.”
This was probably the easiest of the steps, she’s never had a problem setting a boundary with them before. She might need to change some things though when it comes to intercourse though. That was a future conversation though.
Haruhi scrolled down hoping to find more steps but unfortunately there was nothing left. The three steps felt really vague and yet it was the most helpful advice Haruhi has received so far.
Was this plan vague and uncertain? Yes, but it was the only plan she’s got. She’d rather have a bad plan than no plan.
And so that night Haruhi got to work.
Chapter 2: Mori
Summary:
Haruhi gives her letter to Mori-Senpai.

Chapter Text
Haruhi had decided to write her first letter to the stoic Morinozuka. She felt as though he would be the most normal about it. Even if it all backfired on her, she knows he wouldn’t judge her or tell anyone else about it. So she decided he would be a good first choice.
According to the guide, she needed to make sure that his feelings were clear to her after she gave him the letter. So she decided that she would personally hand the letters out to each of the hosts and get their response in person.
It would be awkward, but she was sure it would work out one way or another.
That was the other plus about asking Mori first, as he wouldn’t have much of a reaction either way and would probably be the easiest to deal with.
So she started her letter.
Dear Takashi,
When I first met you the day I walked into the Host Club I had assumed you were emotionless and angry all of the time, I know now that I was incredibly wrong.
Once I started to get to know you, I realized that there was more behind your stoic stare then just anger. When you first talked to me, you looked at me as if you were looking at something small and cute, like I was precious.
It threw me off to be honest, because nobody had ever looked at me like that. I had never let anyone look at me like that until you. But that look in your eyes has now become my favorite thing about you.
I’ve always admired your strength, but knowing that you’re always there to protect me from danger has become a feeling I’ve grown used to, something I rely on. Even if you rarely say anything to me, I’ve always enjoyed our quiet conversations. But what I really like about you is your presence.
It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even have to see you to know you’re there, your protecting presence has had a significant effect on my life and I can’t thank you enough for that. These are all things I’ll always treasure deeply in my heart.
I don’t know when I started noticing these things about you, but somewhere along the way I found myself feeling differently about you. Your handsome features started to show up in my thoughts throughout the day and I just can’t get them out.
So with all this said, I like you Takashi.
I like you not in a friendly way but in something more than that. I know this is all a little random, and I know you don’t often have girls swooning over you like Tamaki or Kyoya does, but I know I’m definitely not the first to like you.
If you’re interested, I’d like to go out with you this weekend. If you’re not, that’s okay too. All I ask is that you be honest with me. I’d hate for you to feel pressured into something you don’t want.
And if you would wait to tell anyone about this letter, I’d appreciate it. I don’t know how the rest of the club will react and frankly I’m not ready to find out.
Sincerely,
Haruhi Fujioka.
Takashi had been tiptoeing around Haruhi lately.
She’s been upset and she refuses to tell anyone anything. He had tried to console her, but she had pushed him away.
It pained him to see her like this, Haruhi had become really close to him this past year. He didn’t have many female friends outside of his Kendo Club, so it was a little hard to find things to say to her.
He’d never really been a talkative person, but Haruhi made him want to talk. She made him laugh and smile, she was good for him, even if she didn’t know it.
So when he received a text message from her asking to meet her at the school's courtyard during lunch, he was surprised. They rarely ever had a chance to speak one on one, but he definitely wasn’t complaining. He had told Mitsukuni that he would meet him at the host club later, and made his way to a shaded tree hidden from many people’s view.
When he saw Haruhi walk out of one of Ourans many side entrances, something about her seemed off. She had the same stressed look on her face she’d had all week, yet looked ten times more anxious.
Mori suddenly felt a pit in his stomach, there was something wrong. Was she in trouble? Was she going to leave Ouran? No… That can’t be it.
He fought off the urge to go grab her and shield her from whoever’s troubling her. He would take care of it, just give him a name. He was the president of the Kendo Club for a reason after all. He’d keep her safe, and then everything would go back to normal.
She stood in front of the large doors, making her look significantly smaller than normal. To Mori, she looked like a little mouse. A cute one.
He moved his arm that was leaning against and waved her over, when she finally saw him he noticed her shoulders drop a little and an easy smile fell on her face.
Good. He wanted her to feel safe with him.
She approached where he was standing with a strained smile on her face. Something was definitely wrong.
Something inside of Mori keened knowing that Haruhi felt comfortable enough to come to him. Kyouya and Mitsukuni were strong and could definitely handle whatever was troubling his little mouse, but instead she came to him.
Whoever was troubling her would be repaid tenfold, he’d make sure of it. He was the protector of their little group, and he’s glad she could recognize that.
“Hi Mori-Senpai” She greeted him warmly.
Takashi smiled, “Haruhi.”
When he looked into her eyes, he saw something new, something unfamiliar. She was nervous, but now scared or upset.
“Thanks for meeting me here.” She stuttered.
That was weird. He’d never heard Haruhi stutter.
Something must be really wrong, is she being followed? Does he need to scope out the school? Maybe if he acts quick enough he could-
“I have something for you.” She continued.
In the inside of her uniform jacket, she pulled out a small white envelope. Her hands were shaking as she placed it in his palms. Was this a code? Maybe she can’t say what’s happening and had to write it instead.
He ripped open the envelope with a little more force than needed, he needed to save Haruhi from whoever was behind all this and he needed to do it fast.
He examined the letter. There was a lined piece of paper decorated with little doodles and stickers. The words were written in a red pen, her handwriting was as perfect as ever.
If she needed help why would she write so much? Was this a trap and- Oh.
“I like you Takashi”
Those words felt like a punch to the gut. How could he be so oblivious? Of course Haruhi wasn’t in trouble.
She likes him.
Now that was a surprise to hear, he usually was able to sense when a girl liked him. Had he missed the signs? It was unlike him. But then again, he can’t recall a time he ever really acted normally around her.
Ever since she walked into the club that day he’d known there was something different about her. Over the year, the feeling just grew stronger. She’s strong, witty, and kind, all qualities that he valued deeply. She was perfect for him. He can’t believe he didn’t see it sooner.
He finally looked up from the letter and met her eyes. He was a little surprised that she didn’t run away after giving it to him as some girls do.
“So… What do you say?” She blushed.
He smiled at her nervousness, she really was cute. “Do you have a place in mind?”
Her eyes widened and the tension in her body from the past week faded in an instant. She grinned up at him, her face was soft and her hands were tucked into her pockets
“This Saturday at the Fancy Sushi Restaurant. Be there at 7!” She beamed before taking off to her next class.
He blushed as he watched her leave. This was not how he expected today to go, but he’s not really upset. He may not have realized his feelings for Haruhi until today, but he’s glad he did.
He wanted to tell Mitsukuni really badly but he’ll respect her word and wait until she’s ready to tell anyone.
She’ll always have a place with him, whether this date works out or not. And if it does work out, he’ll treat her well. He knows she doesn’t like to spoiled, but he’s sure he can find some ways to get around that rule.
But most of all, he’ll keep her safe.

kudos and comments appreciated:-)
Chapter 3: Kyoya
Summary:
Kyoya receives a letter
Notes:
shorter chapter because I feel like kyoya would enjoy a “short but sweet” kind of letter!
also… i headcanon that haruhi really likes studio ghilbi and i will never let that die.
enjoy!
Chapter Text
The next day, Haruhi contemplated who she was going to write to next.
She wanted to write in order of who would react the kindest if they were to reject her. She wished she could predict the future but unfortunately that’s not the case.
She had woken up two hours earlier than usual the following morning and decided that she just needed to get it over with. She had too many love letters to write and not enough time. So, she chose Kyoya.
Despite his cool nature, kindness actually came quite naturally to him. She has a feeling that he wouldn’t be the kind to rudely reject her.
So she pulled out her pen, and wrote her letter.
Dear Kyoya,
I have always had a fascination with puzzles.
It makes me feel accomplished and happy whenever I finish one. I’ve been doing puzzles ever since I was a kid. Jigsaws, rubiks cubes, you name it I’ve done it.
When someone asks me “what’s the biggest puzzle you’ve solved?” I’ll them it was the 1500 Howl's Moving Castle jigsaw puzzle I did last month. But that’s only half true, because the biggest puzzle I have yet to solve is you.
Since the day we met I’ve always wondered what’s going on in your head. I’ve tried my best to understand you and although I’ve come to some conclusions, there is much I have yet to learn.
You may be wondering why I am telling you this, and to make it clear, I want you to know that I like you. I like you as a host, as a friend, and as a whole.
I like you, Kyoya, I really do.
I hope to one day be able to know you inside out, I hope to know what you’re thinking just by looking at you. I want you to feel safe with me.
I know you struggle to let people in, I understand the feeling. But you deserve to have the kind of support you were never given. And it doesn’t have to be me who gives you that support, but I want to be clear with you that just because you hide your heart away doesn’t mean people can’t find it.
Just because you feel unlovable doesn’t mean someone out there won’t love you. I will love you, if you’ll let me.
And I will respect your decision no matter what, just say the word.
Sincerely,
Haruhi Fujioka
(PS: I hope no matter what your answer is you’ll wait to tell anyone about this letter until I decide I’m ready)
Kyoya has been keeping secrets from the host club for years now.
Were they important secrets? No, but you’d think he’d have enough trust in his friends to keep his secrets. He doesn’t. It’s truly not personal, he likes his friends, but giving out his weaknesses will only put him at risk. There’s no real benefit to telling them anything, so he keeps it to himself.
His friends know more about him then anyone in the world, they know his interests, his passions, so keeping secrets from them wasn’t a huge deal.
Which is why he was confused when he had carelessly told Haruhi one of his secrets one day. They had been studying for their exams together after the rest of the host club went home and Haruhi had put together a to-do list for herself.
“I like to draw a star on the important things since I tend to want to finish those first.” She said, not looking up from the torn out page she was writing on.
Kyoya frowned and without realizing had spoken what he was thinking at the moment.
“I never learned how to draw a star.”
Realistically, he knew it wasn’t really a big deal. Nobody would believe her if she told anyone, and honestly Haruhi is probably the most trustworthy of all of the hosts.
What he was concerned about was how easily that slipped out from him. He never let himself speak so freely, why was he doing it with her? He had known her for the least amount of time and yet he still felt the most comfortable with her.
That thought threw his brain into a whirlwind.
“You never learned?” She whispered, surprised.
Yeah it was a surprising fact. He doesn’t know when exactly kids got taught to draw stars, but he was never enrolled in Kindergarten so it was likely at that time.
He knows he could have looked it up or even asked someone but frankly, he didn’t really care. He didn’t have time to go draw stars, he was always busy.
But with how Haruhi looked up at him that day, it had felt like drawing stars was the only entertaining thing he would ever do in his life. She hid her surprise by looking back down at her paper, then grabbed a post it note and laid it in front of him.
She grabbed his hand and looked up for permission, his heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest. He gently grabbed onto her pencil and she led his hand to draw a small star.
It was wonky and honestly pathetic, but it fueled something inside of Kyoya that he had hid deep deep in his gut.
Even with just a small touch, she made him feel something he wasn’t sure he’d ever felt before. He felt heard and cared for.
The next time they studied together, she handed him a small letter. The envelope was roughly the size of his palm.
He opened it.
And then shut it.
He didn’t even have to read the first line to know what kind of letter this was. He’s gotten many of these kinds of letters before and all of them ended with someone walking away with a broken heart. This was no different.
But never has his head felt so fuzzy when getting one of these letters, never has his chest hurt and his hands shake when holding one of these letters. Something was different about this.
He wasn’t an idiot, but yet he certainly felt like one. How could he not have seen it?
He liked Haruhi.
He didn’t bother looking up and instead opened the letter again and read its contents.
It was a very thoughtful letter and frankly part of him wanted to cry. She had mentioned not being able to understand him and yet she saw right through him. She always has.
“Haruhi…” He muttered, catching her eye.
“Yes Kyoya?” She blushed.
“I’d like to court you.” He asked.
Haruhi's face lit up like a forest fire, he swore he didn’t know humans could get that red, and he was a doctor. Sometimes he forgot that Haruhi was a girl, but looking at her now made him feel silly.
“Meet me at the Fancy Sushi shop this Saturday at 7.” She said before rushing away.
Many other girls had done something similar but they were usually teary eyed and much less cute than her. He asked himself if he regretted accepting his proposal, and he couldn’t find a reason to.
He opened the letter for a third time and re-read its contents. He wanted to make sure he didn’t miss anything. Deep down though he knew he just wanted to feel giddy about it.
There was a small detail that made his face heat up if it wasn’t pink already.
At the bottom of the page, sat a small doodled star.
Chapter 4: Honey
Summary:
Haruhis letter to Honey-Senpai
Notes:
Hi!! Sorry i’ve been gone for a month ~(>_<~)
I got a little insecure about my writing skills and it kind of left me in a messy writers block where I just felt like nothing I wrote was good enough. We’re all good now, but thank you for all the nice comments, it’s really lovely to read (≧◡≦) ♡
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Haruhi had always thought of Honey-Senpai as cute. More than cute even, he looked like a little doll to her.
Those feelings were normal and expected when people first meet Honey. He’s small, dainty, and cute; anyone could see that. When Haruhi had first met Honey, it wasn’t when she first set foot in the host club, it was actually a few days before.
Haruhi had been wandering through the halls, looking for the nearest restroom when she first saw him. He was sitting on the bench next to the large doors that led to the cafeteria, waiting for something.
Haruhi wasn’t going to bother him, but it seemed he had other plans.
“Are you lost?” He asked bluntly.
Haruhi nodded her head shyly, the school was too huge to not be lost all the time. Not to mention, nobody had ever thought of making a map.
“What are you looking for?” He smiled brightly. “Maybe I can help you find it!”
“I’m looking for the nearest restroom.” She sighed.
He paused for a second, as if pondering something. His mouth opened and closed, wanting to say something before the cafeteria doors opened and out walked a tall man (now known as Mori).
“Let’s go Mitsukuni.” He grumbled.
He gave Haruhi a smile before getting off the bench and following the man into the cafeteria.
Haruhi remembers that she did eventually find the bathrooms, but she was late to her English class because of it.
The next time she had seen Mitsukuni was during her school's version of “Club Rush” which is essentially a day where all the school's clubs have a little assembly in the frontage.
The school had about 23 active clubs ranging from badminton, dark magic, and even a ventriloquist club. She had been wandering down the cemented path, browsing through all the stands with flyers, candy, and toys.
She kept to herself though, she wasn’t really that interested in the clubs at her school. She had enough work as it was, she really didn’t have the time for extracurriculars. She spent so much of her days trying to keep up on her schoolwork and taking care of her home, she just couldn’t sacrifice what little free time she had.
In the middle of her thoughts, she had walked right into someone and clumsily stumbled. When she caught her balance, she looked up to find a familiar set of chocolate-chip brown eyes.
“Sorry Senpai, I didn’t see you there.” She smiled apologetically, bowing her head.
The boy giggled, “It’s okay! I wasn’t really looking either”
Just as she was about to continue her stroll down the path, the boy had caught her arm.
“Have you joined any clubs yet?” He asked
She was surprised to say the least. She wasn’t stupid, she knew who he was, vaguely but enough to know the power he holds. Why would he care about her? It seemed everyone at the school knew she was a scholarship student, and knew she wasn’t worthy of their friendship.
“Oh, no not yet. I’m not sure if I’m going to join any clubs this semester.” She answered.
Honey looked up at her with a calculating look, before smiling widely and saying, “Well, if you’re free you should stop by my club! Maybe we can eat some cake-“
“Mitsukuni, Tamaki is calling for you.” The tall man from the previous time interjected once again.
Honey looked sad to go but left without complaint, sending Haruhi an apologetic nod. She waved goodbye, curious about what he was going to say.
She didn’t know he had a club, but it made sense she supposed. It was probably something silly like a cake club or a stuffed animal club. Although, she didn’t think she’d mind joining if he was going.
“A host club!?” She had nearly shouted.
Well. Turns out she was wrong.
Honey in fact was not the leader of a cutesy lolita boy club but was a member of the school's popular “Host Club”. She was surprised, to say the least.
When she had first started going to Ouran Academy, she had expected to spend all her lunches in the library studying, but instead, she got indoctrinated into a teenage host club.
She doesn’t say she regrets joining, she definitely could have put up more of a fight but she enjoys the other hosts and their company. She’s been having some close encounters though, she nearly sprained her foot trying to reach for the instant coffee Tamaki had placed on a high shelf.
The first person to run up to her after her fall was none other than Honey. He had helped her up and asked if she was okay, it was only then when Tamaki and the others had rushed over.
She was fine, no head injury, no nothing. Kyoya requested she see his family’s doctor but she didn’t think that was necessary.
She sat down on the couch and was joined by Honey.
“Are you sure you’re alright Haru-Chan?” He asked sincerely.
“Yes, I’m fine. No need to worry about me.” She smiled.
Honey met her gaze and she realized that he looked like he was about to start crying. Did he really care that much about her? She had barely fallen a few feet, nothing terribly serious.
She was confused, but had taken an early leave per the request of the Host Club. What she didn’t see though, was how Honey had leaned over to Mori right as she walked out the door.
“You seem worried, Mitsukuni. She will be alright, she’s a strong girl.” Mori had whispered in his ear.
“I know.. I just like her so much, if anything happens to her I feel like I’m gonna explode.” He explained.
—
Mitsukuni was a very good student.
He knows everyone thought of him as childish and cute, but he was technically 17 and he was actually at the top of his class! He was very smart according to his teachers and he always worked hard to get what he wanted!
He had plenty of friends who would risk their lives for him and ones that he would do the same for. He was pretty well off, is what he was trying to say.
Although he was grateful for everything he’s accomplished, he can’t help but want more…
His family has always been the greedy type, having everything in the world yet still wanting more and more. More riches, more opportunities, more power, more cake. His family is known for wanting, and he can’t say he doesn’t carry that trait.
He’s aware he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, maybe not one as big as Tamakis, but still, he knows he’s privileged. He does his best to give back to the community whether it be by donating portions of the money he makes from his Martial Arts Competitions or volunteering with his family.
He does all these things, and yet he still wants more.
He isn’t quite sure what more he wants though, it’s like a feeling of emptiness in his gut. He tried eating more cake, that didn’t work, he tried training harder, that didn’t work, he tried spending more time with his friends, and that sort of worked?
He loved his friends very much, and spending time with them always makes his day. But one of them in particular, makes him feel more than satisfied.
Haruhi Fujioka.
She was kind, outgoing, courageous, not to mention pretty. She was beautiful in fact, anyone could see that. She was like a diamond in an ocean of rocks.
Honey hadn’t realized he’d felt this way until she got hurt on the ladder, it was then he realized how much he couldn’t live without her. His feelings for her were more than just platonic, he felt like she took apart of his heart and he wasn’t sure if he could ever get it back.
He loved her. A lot.
But he wasn’t oblivious. He saw the way Tamaki looked at her, he knew he wasn’t the only one who liked her. But yet, he felt like she was the only one who understood him. He felt more for her than any of the host club members did. Hell, he was sure half of them hadn't even realized they liked her yet.
Haruhi deserved someone who knew what she needed when she needed it, not someone who couldn’t even see that he liked her.
Call him possessive, but he feels like he’s been giving up everything for his friends but he won’t give up on her.
That’s why he made a plan to confess his feelings.
He had planned to go and buy some ingredients to bake her a little cake as an offering, he was gonna go to the local supermarket after school. He had already envisioned it in his head, it would be a chocolate fudge cake that had a little pink heart on top of it, then they would eat it and he would tell her how he felt.
Obviously he would respect whatever decision she made, but he wanted to make sure it was special. He also knew how oblivious she could be when it came to feelings, so he wanted his confession to be clear.
As he was getting ready for his final lesson of the day, he had stopped by the library to check out a cookbook. Believe it or not, he loved to eat cake, but wasn’t entirely sure how to bake it himself.
He wanted the cake to be perfect, so he thought he’d rely on the recipe to bake it.
As he opened his backpack to put the cookbook in, a small pink paper fell out of the front pocket. He picked it up, and read it.
—
Dear Mitsukuni,
This letter may seem a little spontaneous but I wanted to get some things off my chest. Firstly, I want to thank you for your concern regarding my health, but I promise you I am alright and will continue to be so.
You have always been so kind to me ever since we first met, I understand now that it is just in your nature to be kind and friendly to everyone but yet sometimes it feels as if you’re being special towards me for another reason.
I hope I’m not reading your signals incorrectly, but I was wondering if you would maybe like to take me on a date? Sorry if this is too formal, but every time I’m with you I feel like we have such a strong bond and I can’t keep my attraction to you a secret anymore.
You mean so much to me, Honey, and I’d like to get to know you on a more personal level; If you’re interested, of course.
Do you like me back?
□ Yes □ No
Sincerely,
Haruhi Fujioka
—
Well damn. It looked like she beat him to it.
He quietly returned the cookbook to the shelf it was sitting on and grabbed a pen out of his pencil box. He drew a little heart on the yes and folded it up.
Instead of making his way to the grocery store on his way home, he instead stopped by Haruhi’s apartment. He quietly slipped the note under the door and walked away. Part of him wanted to knock, but he wasn’t sure if she was home yet and he didn’t want to face her dad with red cheeks and ears.
And if later that night he got a text from her, nobody had to know.
Meet me at the Fancy Sushi shop this Saturday at 7 :)
Notes:
I decided to make Honey a little bit more… possessive this time around.
He’s not like yandere or anything haha but I wanted to toy with his character a little bit and see how I can thicken the plot with it >:)
Until next time!

Chapter 5: Hikaru & Kaoru
Summary:
The twins get their love letter.
Notes:
BTW, in this universe the twins are NOT in love with each other. Sorry I don’t like twincest.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The more Haruhi sat with her feelings the more she realized that her feelings were nothing new. She might not have realized it until now, but she’s always like the host club boys; and it first started with none other than the twins.
Maybe it’s because they were in the same grade and therefore shared multiple classes, but it felt like they were both always watching her from afar.
She doesn’t understand how she could be so oblivious before now? All the teasing, the pranks, the drama, it was all their way of telling her they cared.
It was endearing, to say the least.
But now that she knows their tactics, she can’t stop seeing them. Whenever they joke with her, play games with her, all she can see is love in their eyes.
She was starting to get a little overwhelmed with all this attention. Now that she’s confessed to half of the hosts, the three of them seem to have a newfound fascination with her. Everything they do seems to be done with a sense of compassion.
She doesn’t mind it, but it seems the twins do.
Whenever Mori lightly brushes her shoulder, something flickers in the twins' eyes. It’s not necessarily possessiveness, it’s more like… frustration?
But as soon as she turns to look at them, it’s gone in an instant. It’s like they’re trying to hide it.
She doesn’t mention it though, not verbally at least. Instead when she gets home, she tears out two pieces of paper and sits at her desk. She sits there and wonders how to pursue this.
The twins are very dear to her, and she doesn’t think she could ever love just one of them. They’re very close friends, the three of them. Perhaps she should just write one letter to both?
No, that won’t work.
She once saw a girl ask out the twins together and well, it didn’t end well. She knows how much the twins seek individuality even if they’re always together. She can see how they light up when she can recognize which one is Hikaru.
They don’t want someone who just sees them as one, they want someone who can recognize them as their own person. And yet, something holds her back.
She thinks back to the time she was visiting their house over Winter Recess. It was a very special memory that she holds dear to her heart.
—
It was a cold and snowy day, Haruhi’s indoor heater was still being repaired so she sat far away from the thin windows curled up in several blankets. Her father was out working and wouldn’t be home until late.
She held a warm cup of tea in her hand and was beginning to doze off. She loved the feeling of coziness and warmth the blankets provided.
Her eyes started to droop, but right before she could set her cup down her phone started ringing. The twins had bought her that phone and put their contacts in without her knowledge. Not that she minded.
She would eventually get all of the Hosts phone numbers, each with their own personal contact and ringtone. This ringtone was particular to Honey-Senpai.
She groaned quietly and uncurled out of her cocoon of blankets. She eventually managed to reach her cellphone and pick up the call.
“Hello? Honey-Senpai?” She yawned gently.
The line was silent for a minute before a voice responded, yet it wasn’t Honey who answered.
“Haruhi? Hey this is Kaoru, I’m using Honey's phone to call you since mine is dead. Also how did you know it was Honey? I thought we were your only contacts” He mumbled.
“Oh yeah, I got all the hosts numbers. You all have your own contacts and ringtones.” She rubbed her eyes gently.
The line was quiet again, “Yeah, okay… Well look we’re heading by your place to drop off some gifts. Me, Hikaru, Honey, and Mori went to a commoners shopping plaza for fun and we picked out some stuff we thought you might like.” He grinned through the phone.
Under normal circumstances, Haruhi would lock her doors and tell them to go away. She would busy herself with groceries, or homework, or cooking, but for some reason that day she didn’t mind them coming over.
Sure she was enjoying being cold in the winter frost, but she had spent the whole weekend doing just that. So she wouldn't mind the company.
“Alright. I’ll leave the door open, so you can let yourself in.” She told them.
Kaoru said his goodbyes and hung up the phone. She had decided to change out of her pajama pants and into something more formal. She didn’t think anyone would mind her being in pajamas, they are friends after all, but without her blankets she was actually getting quite cold.
She changed into some black sweatpants and a light pink sweatshirt. She had gotten this sweatshirt on her 11th birthday, back then it had practically been down to her knees, now though it fit quite comfortably. She then went to her kitchen and started setting out her tea set. Some of her cups weren’t matching as usually it was just her and her dad at the table.
She heard the door open and turned to see the Hitachiin Twins. They were dressed in matching winter coats and pink hats that matched their hair. If Haruhi was really paying attention, she might have thought they looked quite cute.
“Hey Haruhi, we brought the goods” Hikaru grinned, holding a light brown bag up.
She smiled gently, “Where is Honey and Mori-Senpai?”
“We saw some kids riding on sleighs down the street, it looked fun so they wanted to try. They said they’d meet us here later.”
Haruhi nodded in understanding. She had seen the middle schoolers earlier that day and was a little surprised they were still out there. Then again, it was the last snow day before school started again.
The three of them sat at the table while Haruhi poured some tea, “Open our presents Haruhi!” They grinned.
She grabbed the small brown bag that read “Holly Supermarket”. She tore the bag open and stuck her hand inside, she was half expecting to feel something slimy and gross like a typical Hitachiin prank. Instead, she pulled out some kind of circular device and held it in her hand.
“It’s a hand warmer! We figured you were cold since your house is so small and your walls are so thin!” They smiled.
Haruhi sighed with a frown, she knew they were just being thoughtful but were rich people always this tone deaf?
“Thank you guys, that was very nice of you.” She replied.
She saw something change in their faces when she started to pocket the hand warmer, they turned into something mischievous.
“Why don’t we show you how to use it!” Hikaru suggested.
Without warning, they both grabbed her arm and laid it infront of her. She held the hand warmer in her palm and the twins placed her other hand on top of that one. Slowly, they both wrapped their hands around hers and started, rubbing?
They were very gentle as they rubbed her hands and slowly she started to feel some warmth blooming in between her palms. Although, that wasn’t the only place. Her face flushed gently as she realized the position they were in. She was sure the twins had planned this to try and get a reaction out of her.
She will admit it did feel nice, she actually quite enjoyed the feeling of the twins hands on hers.
When the heat pack was warm enough, the twins pulled away from her with matching cheshire cat grins on their face. Those little punks.
Haruhi suddenly had the urge to go wash her hands. She couldn’t explain why but for some reason the twins rubbing her like that had caused her hands to feel numb.
“I’ll be right back, I just need to use the bathroom.” She said before exiting the main room.
When she returned from the restroom, the twins were nowhere to be seen. It seemed like they got bored and left.
With a sigh, she started picking up the table. She went through all the effort of setting up her tea set just for them to tease her and then ditch. As she was picking up the glass next to where Kaoru sat, a small yellow sticky note fell from under the plate.
“Thanks for having us :).” It read.
Haruhi smiled, that might have been the first time she had heard either of them say thank you. Maybe this was all worth it after all.
Later that day after her father returned home from work, Haruhi sat at the desk in her room. She held a small little push pin and gently pinned the note that had been left for her on her bedroom wall. It sat next to a photo of her mother before she passed. Haruhi thinks she would have loved to meet the twins.
Maybe in another universe she can.
—
The chair she’s sitting in starts to become uncomfortable. She can’t sit still anymore, it’s like something’s forcing her to wiggle around. She clicks her pen, still unsure how to write these letters.
Part of her wants to just get up and leave this for another day, but it was already Wednesday and she needed to get this done by Friday if she wanted to meet all the hosts in time.
With a groan, she laid her hands in her head. These feelings were all new to her and damn were they confusing.
Just then, an idea popped into her head.
—
The next morning, the twins were sitting in the library by themselves. They had arrived at school a little earlier than usual since their driver needed to drop off their mom at the airport right when class started.
They sat idly at a desk near the window, watching the large bell tower tick the seconds away. They were bored.
Usually when they’re bored, they go and visit one of their friends, or they come up with a game to play by themselves. But with the morning rain rolling in and the empty library, there wasn’t much to do.
So they just… sat there.
Hikaru had his earbuds in, drumming his fingers to the beat of the snare. Kaoru almost asked if he would share an earbud but knew better than to disrupt Hikaru when he was in that mood.
With a sigh, Kaoru laid his head in his arms and started to doze off. As if lately, he had been having dreams of becoming the next best Fashion Designer in the world, which was ironic because he wasn’t nearly as good a designer as his brother or his mom.
He also tended to dream about his family and his friends. Lately his dreams have really only been centered around one specific friend of his though, Miss Haruhi Fujioka.
Before he could reflect more on what his dreams meant, the large doors of the library opened up.
The twins both turned their heads simultaneously as a young lady walked through the doors. She wasn’t wearing a female uniform which was odd considering it was a school day.
“Excuse me, Hikaru and Kaoru?” The girl asked, unsure.
The twins looked at each other with a strange look in their eyes. It had been a while since someone didn’t know who they were. They were famous not only in the school but all over Japan. Maybe not as famous as Tamaki or Kyoya but still pretty well known.
“That’s us.” They said simultaneously.
“I have something for you” The girl said as she reached into the pocket of her jeans and pulled out a small envelope.
The twins shared another look, this time of sympathy. It had been a while since someone had confessed their love for them. They used to be really mean about it whenever they got a love letter but recently decided to take a new approach when rejecting someone.
“Sorry lady, we’re not interested in you.” Hikaru deadpanned.
The girl looked taken aback, as most do, but then surprised the twins and she let out a little laugh.
“Oh no, this isn’t from me-“ She said between giggles, “This is something from my friend Haruhi Fujioka.”
Within hearing the name the twins both lit up. For a while now they had a shared crush on Haruhi. She was the first girl to really be able to tell them apart and she was witty, and smart, and not to mention cute.
Everyone in the Host Club knew she was cute, anyone could tell just by looking at her. But they were the only ones at Ouran who knew her secret. The fact that she had so much trust in them not to tell anyone really struck something in the twins.
At first, Kaoru had noticed something shift in Hikaru when he looked at Haruhi. He looked more independent and confident around her. It was a bit uncomfortable for Kaoru to watch, but then he realized that he felt the same way around Haruhi.
The twins talked about it, and for the first time in their lives they both had a crush, on the same girl.
They weren’t the only ones though. They could see the way Honey and Mori looked at her. In fact, they were sure the whole Host Club had a thing for her. Which is why they decided to leave Haruhi be.
They agreed they wouldn’t tell her anything, but that was getting harder and harder the closer they got with her.
“She wanted me to deliver this to you while I was visiting my fathers workplace.” She said with a soft smile.
Oh, well that made more sense.
The girl didn’t go to this school, no wonder she wasn’t in uniform. She’s probably one of Haruhi's friends from her neighborhood or her old school. But then that asks the question, why didn’t Haruhi just come and give the note herself?
Hikaru accepted the letter without saying anything, clearly as confused as Kaoru. Together they slowly opened the small white envelope and read the contents inside.
—
Dear Hikaru and Kaoru,
I wanted to write you this letter to thank you for all the wonderful memories we have together. Thank you for always making me laugh and making the Host Club a little more bearable.
You two have always made an effort to hangout with me and make sure I’m comfortable. Thank you for all the times you have eaten lunch with me, shared your thoughts with me, and even all the games you play with me.
But unfortunately, I can’t help but feel something more intimate. I’m not the most experienced with writing love letters, but I feel something different when I’m around both of you.
Hikaru, you always make me laugh and cheer me up when I’m not having a good day. You always make me look forward to going to the club and seeing you and your mischievous tactics to woo some of the girls.
Kaoru, you’re always relaxed which in turn makes me feel relaxed as well. You’re great at putting me at ease both in the club and in class. I really enjoy sitting next to you and helping you with your work.
With this in mind, I’m writing this letter to tell you that I have developed a crush on not just one, but both of you.
I want to make it clear though, I like you both for your individual personalities, not because your twins. Frankly, I think even if you weren’t twins I would still feel the same way about BOTH of you.
The way you talk, the way you look, the way you hold yourself. It’s attractive, to say the least.
I hope you’ll take this letter into consideration when planning your weekend because if you’re not busy, i’d like to invite you both on a date this weekend. Maybe this Saturday, at like 7? At that fancy sushi restaurant near my apartment?
Just let me know if you’re not busy.
Sincerely,
Haruhi Fujioka
(P.S, sorry I couldn’t bring you the letter myself, I was going to but I needed to go to the grocery store this morning before class started.)
—
After reading the love note, Hikaru looked over at his younger brother who was staring at the note with a faint blush on his cheeks.
When he looked up from the note, he turned to the girl Haruhi was friends with and said,
“Tell her we’ll be there.”
And Hikaru couldn’t agree more.

Chapter Text
By Friday morning, Haruhi was giddy with excitement. She had not been rejected once. She knew better then to let her confidence get to her head, but there was no harm in being happy.
She hadn’t expected this much approval to come from the Hosts. She had done the calculations, and expected at least a 25% rejection rate. She was wrong though, and she couldn’t be happier.
She wasn’t done yet though, she still had one last letter to write and this one was going to be the most difficult.
She had been keeping a special eye on Tamaki this week, wanting to make sure he didn’t find out about the letters to the other Hosts. If he had, she’s sure he would have been too depressed to come to school and Haruhi sure as hell wasn’t going to deliver the letter to his home.
She needed to act carefully around him if she wanted to succeed. She had planned many different ways to approach this but decided that if she wanted this to work, she needed to be upfront.
A letter by itself just wouldn’t do, knowing Tamaki would find some way to interpret it as ‘Haruhi is sharing her love for her father!’ or some crazy story in his head. She needed to just go up and say it, but it’s not that easy.
The whole reason she had started writing letters to the Hosts is because she didn’t have the courage to tell each one of them individually. Of course, she would have to confront them all tomorrow at the Fancy Sushi place, but she was prepared for that.
Dealing with Tamaki's outbursts when her feelings are on the line? Not so much.
So the night before she had decided to approach Tamaki with a letter just like she did all the other hosts. Except this time would be a little bit different.
—
Tamaki always had a vision of how this would go down.
When he found his true love like the fairy tales had explained, he would sweep her off her feet and take her to his castle! Of course, he didn’t have a castle. But nonetheless, he would woo her so good that next thing you know, they’re married.
Yet, when he first met Haruhi, he had always noticed something different about her.
Not to be cliche, but she wasn’t like other girls. She never tried to impress Tamaki or any of the hosts for that matter. She always held herself together so well you could barely notice something was wrong.
After seeing her every week for months, Tamaki can say that he knows her pretty well. Maybe not as well as her father, but they’re still very close. For a while, he treasured his relationship with her almost to the same level as the other Hosts!
But, that’s when things started getting a little weird.
Tamaki had started having dreams of the host club and, well, let’s say they weren’t so family friendly. But, when he dreamt about Haruhi specifically, there was something more than just lust.
When he dreamt about their little family in the host club, usually he would imagine him as the father, kyoya as the mother, and everyone else as the kids! That was how it was supposed to be, and yet, something felt different.
He wanted to kiss and hold Haruhi, he wanted to take her out on dates, he wanted to walk her home from school and bring her and her father gifts.
He wanted to be Haruhi's boyfriend!
After he made that realization, he couldn’t help but think about her constantly. Even when he was helping guests, he would start picturing Haruhi as one of the ladies he was flirting with.
Whenever he saw her his heart would skip a beat. This wasn’t something he’d ever felt before.
He was inexperienced, and he didn’t want to seek advice from anyone, especially not any of the other hosts. He was sure that if he’d opened up about his feelings towards her, they would all make a huge deal about it.
He’s sure that they would be supportive of their relationship, they are his best friends after all.
But he knew that they would try and rush things and he couldn’t afford to mess this up. He knew how skittish Haruhi could be around them and he didn’t want to pressure her into anything.
So, he decided to hit the books.
As soon as he got home every day he would look online and do research on things girls like. The only problem was, Haruhi wasn’t really a girl.
Well yes, biologically she was, but socially she wasn’t.
That made things much more complicated and before he knew it, he had stayed up all night trying to figure out what to do.
When he showed up to school the next morning, he was surprised to see that Haruhi had been standing by his homeroom class.
“Haruhi! Hello!” He said with a large grin.
She looked up at him with a smile, “Hello Tamaki Senpai.”
“What are you doing over here, you weren’t waiting for me were you?” He joked slyly.
“Actually yes I was. I have something important to give you.” She deadpanned, looking down to fumble with her bag.
Tamaki was taken-aback, since when did Haruhi need to give him something? Perhaps she made some money and wanted to repay her debts.
She looked back up and held a small envelope in her hand. It was light green with a small duck sticker sealing the envelope.
Tamaki took it and was about to pocket it before she spoke,
“No. I want you to read it here.”
Tamaki paused, “But Haruhi, your next class is on the other side of the campus! You won’t make it in time if you don’t leave now.”
She nodded, “Then you better read quickly.”
So he did.
—
Dear Tamaki,
I have a crush on you. Romantically.
Let’s go out tomorrow, fancy sushi restaurant @ 7.
Haruhi.
—
Tamaki was stunned.
His face flushed red as he re-read the letter over and over again. He couldn’t believe this, was he dreaming?
”Haruhi- You like me?” He stuttered.
Instead of replying she smiled and nodded, looking a little shy herself.
Tamaki wanted to say something, he wanted to confess his love for her and get down on one knee and propose right then and there. He had been given plenty of love letters in his life but yet, even though hers was the most plain and boring letter, he knew he would cherish it forever.
Haruhi didn’t wait for long, she needed to get to class. But, before she left, she leaned up and gave a tiny peck on his cheek before turning around and leaving.
At that very moment, Tamaki's heart couldn’t take it anymore. His world exploded and before he knew it, he was on the floor, dizzy and barely conscious.

We’re finally getting to the end! I’m sorry this chapter was on the shorter side, I promise the last chapter will make up for it…

9:04 AM
Haruhi was apprehensive.
She had this feeling deep in her bones that something was going to go wrong, horribly wrong, disastrous even. She hadn’t exactly expected all the hosts to accept, in fact she decided that if all the hosts show up tomorrow she might just run away and skip town or something.
That wouldn’t work, she literally asked out the son of a major police and investigator firm.
She had made this mess and she would deal with it.
She barely slept the night prior to the date. Would you call this a date? It was more like a confrontation than anything.
Saturday morning, she had spent the first 20 minutes of her day staring at the ceiling. She made the mistake of setting the date late into the evening, meaning she gave herself the whole day to sit around and contemplate her life.
How would this impact their relationship? Seemed to be the most prominent question.
Would they still be friends? More than friends? Are they her boyfriends now? How would she explain this to her dad? How would she explain this to THEIR dads? Instead of wondering life’s most complicated questions, she decided to finally get out of bed.
She wandered over to her desk and pulled out a piece of paper. With a pen in hand, she labeled the paper;

9:29 AM
Usually she was good at writing, but for some reason she just couldn’t write anything else.
She yawned quietly to herself. It was only 9am and she just couldn’t afford to sit around all day moping around. Although she was lovestruck, she was still a busy girl.
First she went and picked up her fathers dry cleaning along with some groceries for the upcoming week's lunches. She also went to the post office to mail something to one of her relatives, and then she even went to the mall to pick out a nice blouse for the date.
She wanted to wear something that wouldn’t get her kicked out of the fancy restaurant. She was also a little bit worried about the opinions of some of the hosts. She knew the twins were both sons of a famous fashion designer, so she wanted to at least look like she put in some effort.
She contemplated even experimenting with makeup, but she decided that was just overkill.
If they liked her enough to go out with her, then they surely wouldn’t mind if she didn’t powder her face or anything. Plus, there would be more important issues to discuss rather than what’s on her face.
When she got home she unloaded all of her goods and looked over at the clock. It was only 5:30.
This is going to be a long day.
—
5:45 PM
Mitsukuni had been waiting for this day all week long.
To say he had been crushing on Haruhi for a while might have been an understatement. Ever since she asked him out, he just couldn’t keep his eyes off her.
He wanted to be close to her and tell her the feelings he’d locked away as soon as she handed him the letter. Unfortunately, the rest of their friends wouldn’t have reacted well.
A possessive part of him wanted them to know right away just to see the looks on their faces. That wouldn’t end well for either of them though, so he kept quiet. He didn’t tell Tamaki, he didn’t tell Takashi, he didn’t even tell Usa-Chan! He was worried they might spill the secret.
But now the time has finally come!
When he returned home from his Jiu Jitsu class, he didn’t hesitate to go running upstairs to freshen up and change out of his gym clothes. Takashi didn’t live with him thankfully, otherwise he’d have to be a lot stealthier.
“Guess what Usa-Chan!” He smiled playfully at his toy bunny. “I’m going on a date tonight! But I can’t tell you who I’m going with, ‘cause it’s a secret” He grinned.
He had contemplated bringing the small plush with him for moral support, but decided against it because he didn’t want to have to pay for Usa-Chan's dinner.
He made sure to leave extra early so he would have time to grab some ice cream on the way there! He lived a pretty long way from the School and from Haruhi's neighborhood, so he had to leave sooner rather than later.
“Bye Bye for now! I’ll make sure to update you when I get home!” He waved as he left his bedroom.
—
6:00 PM
Haruhi arrived at the restaurant an hour early.
She had made a reservation for seven, but she was always afraid of being late and she didn’t know how busy the bus would be at this time of day. She also wanted to make sure she did get to try some of the fancy sushi no matter how the date went.
So, she sat at her table and waited patiently.
Thankfully the restaurant was quiet and not very crowded. Otherwise she would have felt bad for taking up such a large table for an hour.
She placed a to-go order of various sushi’s for the end of the night. She knew none of the hosts would let her pay (not that she really wanted too), so she would at least take advantage of that.
While she waited, she ended up looking around at some of the surrounding tables. There was a small family sitting at the end of the restaurant, there was a wife, a husband, and a small kid, maybe four years old?
She smiled to herself, she’s never really thought about having children. She’s always been too busy for relationships and she doesn’t want to subject that to a kid. But now that she might potentially have a boyfriend, or six, she wonders if her opinions might change for them.
She took a deep breath, hopefully that would all come with time.
After 45 minutes in the restaurant she had already had four cups of water and tea. She had been so nervous she didn’t even notice she really needed to pee.
“Excuse me?” She called over one of the waiters.
“Hello Miss, how may I help you?” The waiter asked.
“If someone comes and sits down, would you let them know I’ve already arrived and that I’m in the bathroom.”
“Will do.” The waiter winked as she made her way to the bathroom.

6:45 PM
Kyoya was known for being ten steps ahead of everyone.
He always knew what to wear, what to write, what to say, what to feel. He knew just about everything about everyone. Yet for some reason, he just couldn’t figure this out.
On the bed in front of him sat two bouquets. One had Red Roses, peonies, and tulips. The other had Orchids and Lilies.
Both bouquets were beautiful and he’s sure Haruhi isn’t picky about her flowers. This was more for his satisfaction than anything. The first bouquet was more traditional with Red Roses symbolizing love and peonies happiness. The second one however, was more elegant.
Knowing Haruhi, she would probably like the more traditional bouquet more, but if she saw the price tag on that, she would probably freak out.
Kyoya definitely thought about charging her for the flowers and the date by adding it on to her debt. However, according to his sister, that was “morally wrong”. He’s never claimed to be a good person. If it means he can keep her close for a little longer, he’ll do it. But, he knew she would probably leave if he did that, so why bother?
This date was worth more than anything, maybe not monetary wise, but he hadn’t felt something for a girl in an immensely long time. This was a special occasion for him, and he would treat it as such.
With a sigh, he picked up the second bouquet.
He was wearing a nice clean white button up with a silk tie, he usually wears this attire for when he’s meeting with clients, but this was different. He didn’t want to look too over the top, he honestly wasn’t sure how fancy this restaurant was, so he decided to go with something neutral but still appealing to look at.
He quite liked it when Haruhi looked at him when they would study together. She looked at him with a sense of fascination, like the way people look at art in a museum.
He wanted her to look at him like that all the time.
Before he left he pulled open the second drawer in his desk and pulled out a small piece of paper. He had kept the letter she wrote him and despite not wanting others to see it, made it a habit to reread every night.
He hadn’t realized how much she liked him until it was right in front of his face. The letter was so small yet so foreign to him. He hadn’t ever really received love letters. Sure he had gotten a few in junior high, but they were never from people who genuinely cared about him. It was always from the daughters of his fathers colleagues. People who wanted to use him.
He wasn’t blind though, that’s why he never kept them.
But this was different.
Haruhi never cared about any of that, or if she did, she did a great job at hiding it. She was sweet and kind, and she really liked him for who he was. That was something he doesn’t think anyone’s ever done for him. Except maybe Tamaki.
“Well someone’s excited.” A voice appeared from the doorway.
He hadn’t even realized he was blushing until he looked up from the paper. He tried to shove the paper back into the drawer but the damage was already done.
“Whatcha got there?” Fuyumi chesire grinned.
He adjusted his glasses, “Just a receipt. Nothing serious.”
“I thought you said you hadn’t kept the letter. Has my brother been lying to me?” She pouted.
Kyoya gave her an unimpressed look, “I’ll show it to you after the date. For now let’s just go. If we wait any longer I’ll be late.”
She returned his glare with a winning grin. The two siblings had been very close since a young age. They were both considered “rejects” of the Ootori family, which only made their bond stronger.
She always knew when something was wrong with him. That’s why she was the first and only person to hear about his encounter with Haruhi. He hadn’t even gotten to his room yet before he was being interrogated.
“Is someone bullying you? Is it a host? Is it a girl?” She had asked.
“I received a love letter today.” He said reluctantly.
“So what? You have a whole fan club for you and your friends. Who cares about a letter.” She stated
“It seems that, well, I might reciprocate those feelings.”
It suddenly felt like the world had suddenly become a lot smaller. Like it was only them and nobody else. For a moment, her sister just stared at him, either in shock or awe, he couldn’t tell which.
And then, she exploded.
“YOU HAVE A CRUSH? WHEN CAN I MEET HER!” She nearly screamed.
“We’ll be going out this weekend, if things go well I’ll introduce you two soon.” He told her.
He was lucky to have made it back to his room alive after the way she nearly crushed him in a hug. There was something sentimental about the way she cared about him. She was very happy when Tamaki started coming around, and he’s sure she’ll love Haruhi just as much, if not more.
She demanded he let her drive him there, which he probably would have asked her too anyway. He was trying to be careful of not letting his father find out about his potential lover.
His father had always expected him to marry someone with a lot of wealth or power. That’s what his two older brothers had done, and his older sister was put in an arranged marriage. He always knew that he would end up marrying only for power, or to please his father, but this changes things.
He could probably get away with dating Haruhi with the help from his sister. As much as his father wants him to marry someone rich or famous, he knows that he will never inherit the Ootori Medical Company. Which is why he has less pressure on him to follow certain rules.
If he dresses up Haruhi and teaches her some nice manners, he’s sure she could charm her way into her fathers heart. But if he does introduce her, his father is going to expect him to marry her.
Shaking his head, he tries not to think too hard about the headache that is the future. Instead, he simply gets in his sister's car, and the two of them drive off.

6:50 PM
Mori had arrived early to the restaurant.
When he arrived, he was seated at a large table. The table looked like it could seat eight or nine people. Had he been seated at the wrong table?
“The lady went to use the bathroom, she’ll be out shortly.” A voice spoke.
He turned to find a waiter speaking to him. He let out a small hum and the man walked off. It seems he wasn’t the first to arrive. Perhaps once Haruhi comes back they could ask to be moved to a different table, it seemed there were plenty of free tables.
He flipped through the menu in front of him. They had a lot of sushi options and not much else. It was all pretty cheap food too, the most expensive meal being only $45.00.
He’s sure Haruhi just picked something within her price range, but for future dates he’s decided that he will be the one picking the restaurant. He’s never really cared about his family's wealth, but he supposed it can come in handy sometimes.
He already prepaid the bill just in case Haruhi tried to pay herself, he’s sure it won’t be too much trouble.
“Mori?” A familiar voice called from behind him.
Looking over his shoulder, he locked eyes with none other than Hikaru and Kaoru. They were both dressed up in matching suits and fancy golden watches. They looked very charming.
“What are you doing here?” Kaoru asked, taking a seat next to him.
“I’m on a date with Haruhi.”
He knew she had asked him not to tell anyone, but he was never really the type to keep secrets. The only reason he hadn’t told anyone is because, to put it simply, nobody asked. He didn’t really talk much as it was, so usually when he talked to the other hosts it was brief and not usually about his dating life.
“No way. She two-timed us?” They spoke simultaneously.
Mori paused and gave them a curious look. They responded by pulling out a piece of paper out of Hikaru’s front pocket and laying it on the desk.
What is going on?
—
7:00 PM
Tamaki was right on time, as per usual.
He didn’t like to keep his company waiting too long, but he hated being the first one to arrive. He didn’t like to wait, he’d rather be late than early.
The restaurant wasn’t one of much class, but obviously he couldn’t tell Haruhi that or else it would break her poor little heart. It was odd enough that a girl had asked him out rather than the other way around. He didn’t want to make things worse.
Yet for some reason, fate had other plans.
“Kyoya? What are you doing here?” He nearly gasped
Kyoya turned from where he was positioned by the host stand. He had an equally as confused look on his face.
“How peculiar.” He hummed, now facing him.
“What does that mean? Are you here to ruin my date with Haruhi? You know Daddy doesn’t like it when you stalk me.” He pouted.
Kyoya didn’t respond, instead he simply continued talking with the host. He looked well dressed, almost like he was attending a business meeting.
“It seems Haruhi booked a table for seven. If my assumptions are correct, that means we weren’t the only ones from the host club invited here.” He smiled grimly.
Tamaki looked where his gaze lingered and none the less, there was the rest of the host club. He didn’t stutter as he ran over to the large table.
“You guys! I think Haruhi has been kidnapped!” Tamaki shouted.
Hikaru flinched, “Geez Boss, calm down, she's just in the bathroom.”
“That’s not possible! What other reason would she have to call us all here! To ruin our perfect date night!” Tamaki whined.
Kyoya cleared his throat from behind them, “I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation for this. Let’s just wait to find out first before we jump to conclusions.”
Tamaki spotted something on the table, a piece of paper that looked oddly similar to the letter Haruhi wrote to him.
“Hikaru.. Is that.. A love letter?” Tamaki stuttered.
“Yeah. We all got one, even Honey.” He stated matter-a-factly
“Oh.” Tamaki's heart sank.
“You really think you’re special until you find out your girl wrote four other love letters.” Kaoru sighed.
“Be patient you two. I’m sure we’re all overreacting.” Mori grumbled.

Haruhi washed her hands and dried her face. While in the bathroom she realized her face had gotten all sweaty, either from nerves or from sitting so close to the kitchen. So she tried splashing some water on her face but ended up getting water everywhere.
Thankfully not much water got on her nice blouse. But it took her a while to dry her face since the restaurant decided to go eco-friendly and switch from paper towels to air dryers.
She wiped her hands and walked out of the bathroom, only to find the whole host club at her table. How did they all arrive so quickly? Did I really take that long?
She glanced at the watch her grandparents had given her last christmas. It was already seven!
She tried to backtrack and go back into the bathroom to capture her thoughts but she ended up getting caught in the act.
“Haruhi, there you are.” Kyoya spoke.
A part of her blushed as she recognized his voice.
She turned around and went back to her seat and sat there for a second before looking around, “Where is Honey-Senpai?”
The twins glared at her, “Why does it matter?”
She flinched a little in her seat, she wasn’t prepared for the heated looks all the hosts were giving her. Even Mori-Senpai looked angrier than usual. She supposes that makes sense though.
“Care to explain what you called us here for?” Kyoya asked.
She inhaled a breath, “Well. As you know, it seems I’ve developed some feelings, for-“ She paused and gave another look around.
“All of you.”
There was no response for a long time, they all just sat there in silence. The tension was so thick it could be cut with a knife.
“So then, pick one.” Tamaki spoke.
When she looked at Tamaki he had a look on his face that she’d never seen before. It wasn’t hatred or anger, it was some kind of mix between disappointment and fear.
“I can’t.” She sighed.
“What are you suggesting, Haruhi.” Mori asked.
She gulped hard, this was a lot harder than she thought it would be. She wanted to just say it but her brain was going 50 miles an hour and all of her thoughts were jumbled. It felt like there was a lump in her throat holding her back.
“I-, I just thought-“ She stuttered.
She couldn’t do this. This was a horrible idea. She felt so vulnerable like she had just cut up her insides for the hosts to see.
She thought she had already come to terms with the idea of rejection, but yet somehow seeing it in person made it so much worse. She just wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
Finally, she said, “I thought that maybe we could just; figure something out together.”
The hosts paused.
“I know me liking you all is taboo and probably a little selfish, but I’ve been thinking about this for weeks and I just couldn’t decide. I don’t want one of you, I want all of you.”
“So you want to date all of us? at the same time?” Hikaru asked cautiously.
“I mean yeah, sort of, if that’s okay with you guys. It doesn’t have to be like you all are dating each other, it’s just you’re all dating me. Sort of like you see in those romance novels.” She blushed.
The hosts looked around, waiting for someone to break the silence. Tamaki was quieter than he’s ever been, lost in thought about something.
Hikaru spoke, “Well look. Me and Kaoru were already planning to share you since we’re twins and all. I don’t think it’d be that much different with you guys.”
Haruhi froze, was Hikaru open to her idea?
“I don’t personally mind sharing either, as long as I get my fair share of one-on-one time with you.” Kyoya said plainly, as if he’d already made up his mind.
Haruhi was baffled, this was not how she planned her evening to go. She had expected the hosts to all just reject her and leave.
“You guys are really okay with this? This is like, basically cheating!” Tamaki spoke up.
“Except it’s not Boss, we each get our own time with Haruhi and when we’re not alone we’re all together as a group. It’s not cheating, it's just sharing.” Kaoru replied.
“Besides, it’s not like any of us want to let her go. Just accept that Haruhi isn’t going to be only yours and move on.” Hikaru replied.
Tamaki sputtered, “But I don’t want to share her! Aren’t I enough?”
“This isn’t personal Tamaki, she clearly loves all of us enough to even suggest this, why make her choose?” Hikaru yawned.
Before he could reply, another familiar voice rang through the restaurant. “Haruhi, I’m here! Sorry I’m late-“ Honey paused as he took in his surroundings.
Haruhi looked over to him and noticed the only person he was staring at was Mori.
—
7:10
Honey had no clue what he walked into.
His cousin had showed up to his date, his blood relative. As he looked around, everyone seemed surprised to see him there as if it wasn’t his date.
“What’s going on here? Takashi?” He nearly growled.
Mori looked up at him, “It seems Haruhi invited us all here to talk about starting a relationship with her at the center and everyone dating her.”
“Like a harem?” He asked.
Mori only shrugged, he tried to look at Haruhi for answers but she refused to meet his eye. She seemed to think the color of the table was much more important than this.
“Me and Hikaru are in, So is Kyoya, Tamaki and Mori are undecided.” Hikaru clarified.
He glared at them. This wasn’t fair, Haruhi was supposed to be his and his alone. Of course, that’s probably what the rest of the hosts were thinking too.
“What do you think, Mori?” Kaoru asked.
He only grumbled something incoherent, but Mitsukuni knew he would do whatever he told him too. An evil part of him wanted to tell him to buzz off. To leave him and Haruhi alone.
But when he looked back at Haruhi, she was staring at him with a look he’d never seen before. She looked hopeful, like a kid making his Christmas wish list.
He knew this wasn’t fair. He knew this wouldn’t end well. But all he wanted was for Haruhi to be his and to be happy. If he couldn’t have both, then maybe he’d just have to settle with the latter.
“How exactly would this work?” He asked.
Haruhi looked up at him with that same childlike wonder but turned as Kyoya spoke for her.
“Perhaps I can draft up a contract for this, relationship. I assume we can agree on each getting our own dates every week on top of spending time together during and after school.” Kyoya pondered.
“On top of that I want to introduce you to our mom.” Hikaru spoke up.
“My parents too!” Honey agreed.
“You’ll have to meet everyone’s parents at some point, Haruhi. So I’ll add that to the contract.” Kyoya smiled.
“That’s reasonable.” Haruhi said shyly.
Kyoya ended up taking out a piece of paper from his pocket-size notebook. There he wrote:
—
HARUHI HAREM CONTRACT
1- Must go on a date with one host per week. The order of hosts will depend on scheduling and availability.
2- Must meet all parents and relatives of the hosts. This includes but is not limited to parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles, and close family friends.
3- Hosts are not allowed to fight over Haruhi while Haruhi is present.
4- Nobody but ourselves should know about this ordeal.

“We can always adjust the rules later, but for now this should be good enough.” Kyoya said before scribbling down his signature.
He passed the notebook along to the twins who eagerly signed. When the notebook was given to Mori though, he paused. He looked up to Honey senpai, as if asking for permission.
Honey tore his gaze from him and with a sigh, he grabbed the notebook and signed his name. After Mori too had signed, the only person left was Tamaki who had not said a word since Honey arrived.
“So, are you in Boss?” Hikaru asked.
He ignored his question and instead looked up to Haruhi, “Are you sure this is what you want?”
She smiled softly, “I’m sure.”
He frowned and reluctantly said, “Well, if it makes my little girl happy.” He took the notebook and signed his signature larger than the rest, overlapping both of the twins signatures.
“You’ve got to stop calling her your daughter, she’s literally our girlfriend now.” Hikaru laughed.
Haruhi was handed the paper and she signed her name small in the corner of the paper. This still all felt like a dream to her.
Tamaki smiled up at him, “Our girlfriend. I kind of like the sound of that.”
“I wonder how much profit we could make by coupling one of the hosts with Haruhi.” Kyoya whispered to himself.
“HEY! I heard that!” Tamaki shouted.
He launched himself over to Kyoya's chair, “Just because she’s OUR girlfriend doesn’t mean I’ll let you exploit her!”
While the two bickered, Honey sat himself in the chair closest to Haruhi. He scooted closer and wrapped his hand around hers.
“So what now?” Kaoru asked.
“Should we order dinner?” She smiled.
”Oh, Haruhi I have something for you.” Kyoya smiled.
He pulled out a bouquet of flowers out of thin air. It was a beautiful mix of daisies and lillies. He handed it to her and she looked at him with awe.
”Thank you Kyoya-Senpai, these are beautiful!” She smiled softly.
Suddenly everyone at the table started groaning, “I can’t believe I didn’t think to get her flowers. I’m a terrible boyfriend.”
”Where did these even come from Kyoya? Where were you hiding them.” Haruhi asked.
”A magician never tells.” He winked.
”Well next time I’m gonna have an even better gift!” Tamaki challenged.
”No! We will!” The twins argued.
As the night went on, the hosts all reverted back to their normal shenanigans. As if nothing had even happened at all. Except this time, Haruhi had felt more at ease then she had all week.
She now had six wonderful boyfriends who cherished her more than anything. Although she had a feeling she wouldn’t have much alone time, she doesn’t think she’d mind much.
