Chapter 1: prologue
Chapter Text
I sat alone stuffed in this... box? I wasn't quite sure where I was, how long I had been here, in my own head. It was kind of hard to keep track. After GOD had decided I had "betrayed" him and put me down. With the help of his little archangel Lucifer of course. All they could do was put me into this sleep, after they locked Amara away, they didn't have much strength. I had no connection to anything but my own brain. I wasn't sure where my body was or where I was at all, I only knew I was still in heaven.
I helped GOD create a lot of the small level angels. I was seen as a mother to most of them. The archangels, well, only 2 grew fond of me, Gabriel and Raphael. Lucifer and Micheal aren't fond of me at all... they were always "daddy's boys" and hated when I would take their spotlight from them. I didn't pay too much mind to their behavior, which in a way was how he wanted me to be. He always wanted my attention on him... I only spent time with the other angels when he was off making new worlds. Any other time you always had his eyes on me.
And for a time... I guess he did love me. Something, or someone made him paranoid making him think I was going to leave him and destroy all his work... kill him. He just became cold, slowly... and all that stuff that happened with his sister I guess made him snap. And here I am.
~~~
Oh, my name...? It's Irene
~~~
I was in my imagination when I saw everything around me start to shake, more like melt and crumble. I felt my heart start racing something I haven't felt in years. Everything around melted until it was just white, and my eyes started to hurt as a bright light hit them. I gasped as my eyes fling open, I was falling. Awake? I wasn't fully sure but falling yes. I looked at my surrounding area and it was a blinding white. I tried looking below me but could see much from the sheer speed of my fall.
I squeezed my eyes shut as I braced for someth-
Castiel's POV
I stare up at the sky, my eyes widened as I watch all the Angels fall from the sky. I stood in the middle of this field alone. I could see every single one as they all fell, but one stood out. It didn't look like the others, instead of the other orange glow that surrounded them this one had a blue-Ish white. It was much brighter than the others. My head buzzed as I watched that specific ball of light get closer to the ground.
I get a great feeling pulling me to it. It felt comforting and inviting... something about it I couldn't take my eyes off of. I started in a long stride as it slowly started to fade from my view.
I needed to find whoever this was.

Chapter Text
I gasped as I awoke in a bed. I looked around me and saw a bunch of tubes shoved into me. One in my arm pushing in some sort of fluid. My eyes looked straight at the door when I saw a girl in a matching shirt and pants with a clipboard in her hand. Her eyes widened in surprise as she rested the clipboard at her side. I didn't say a word to her, but she finally stuttered out some words.
"Ma'am, Hello I'm sorry I didn't expect you to be awake so soon" I lick my dry lips as I squeeze out some words, but my voice was squeaky. "W- Where am I?" I ask and his expression softens as she walks to my bedside. "The hospital, you were found 3 days ago in a river, unconscious, the police weren't sure what happened to you, you came in without a scratch on your body" I nod as my memories flash to the fall. I just remember feeling like I had been punched in the gut and nothing else. The lady had a soft cough before speaking up once more.
"What's your name?" she asks, pressing the end of her writing utensil and holding up the clipboard. "Irene" I say in my scratchy voice. She looked back up at me expecting me to continue but I only tilted my head and furrowed my brows at her reaction. "Last name ma'am?" I raise an eyebrow a bit. "A last name?" I asked and she seemed a bit nervous, but she smiled, nonetheless. "Well, do you have anyone we can call?" I shake my head at her question, and she sighs but nods. "I'm going to leave you here... I'll have some food brought up to you and the police will be around sometime soon... I'm sure they have many questions for you" She walks out of the room leaving me alone.
I started looking around the room and down at myself. Was I really awake, was this another part of my imagination? I was finally starting to go insane, wasn't I? I looked down at myself and I lifted the blanket and I saw I was in some gown, and I plopped the blanket back down. I looked down at the tube taped down on my arm and I grabbed it pulling it out which strangely caused a quick short-lasting pain... I had never felt pain in my imagination, my head. I was incapable of feeling anything I didn't want to feel when I was there. I started to panic more as I realized I was awake.
I mean... How? Who? This didn't make any sense. I felt worse when I had a ringing pain in my head and voices coming through it. Angel radio. I forgot that was still a thing. Even though I wasn't exactly an Angel myself being their mother figure I wanted to keep an eye on them even when I wasn't around so to do that, I tapped into it. Most of what I could pick up was panic... straight panic and some anger. Apparently, every Angel had been thrown out of Heaven.
I came back to reality when I heard footsteps in the direction of the room I was in. I squinted when I saw a man in a trench coat turn his head looking behind him before entering the room and shutting the door and looking at me. It took me a moment of staring for me to notice. "Angel" I say and his head twists to me and stares at me for a moment and slowly nods as he walks over to me. "And your... not?" he says with a very confused look on his face, but he was pointing out I wasn't an Angel. I shook my head, and he tilted his head.
"You're quite a young one" I say with a soft smile, and he seemed a bit nervous, but he only walked closer until he was right next to the bed. "How-?" I chuckle as I knew he was most likely created after I was stuffed away. "My name is Irene" I say hoping that he had heard of me from word of mouth from the other Angel's at least. He froze in his skin as his mouth almost fell to the floor. "Y-You mean THEE Irene... GOD'S wife Irene" I nod, and he plops down in the chair that sat beside the bed. "Th-The Angels all thought you were dead" This caused me to furrow my brows.
"Why would that be?" I say straightening my posture in bed. "That's what GOD told them" My face fell from sadness to anger, my fists balling up as I tried to keep calm. "Where is he now?" I ask angrily but also as a genuine question. He only shrugged. "No one has seen him in... a while now, he left a little while after you "died", and no one has seen him since" I let out a deep guttural sigh. I look around the room as I pull the rest of the tubes out of my body. "Can you get me out of here?" I ask, swinging my legs off the bed.
He only nods his head as he jerks up out of the chair and walks over to me looking at the door. "I can try..." he says, and I furrow my brows. "What do you mean? You should-" I stop mid-sentence after realizing why he couldn't just take me out of here. "What happened?" I gulp looking up at him with concern. He tries to avoid my eye contact with him, sensing he was guilty of what happened. I lean forward and I grab onto his hands. "Tell me..." I hum leaning in my head as I look up at him. "I'm sorry..." Is all he had to say as I saw him bite my tongue. "What did you do... please tell me..." he lets out a breath. "Metatron he-" I get ahead of myself and interrupt him. "Metatron? GOD'S scribe Metatron?" He nods as I go quiet again.
"Well... he said that if I did these... trials that it would shut the gates of Heaven, the Angels were getting out of control, and I wanted to keep the human world safe but... it worked but... not in the way that was promised to me" I sigh as I brush my thumbs across his knuckles. I rolled my shoulders, and I can feel my normal weight on my back. I bit my bottom lip getting the idea that the fall only took the purely Angel wings. I guess since I was a (almost) direct copy of GOD it didn't do anything to me, but I was noticeably weaker, at least to myself. I made sure to keep my wings hidden for the time being.
"We can discuss this later... but first I need you to get me out of this place... I'm not exactly up to standards on humans, it's when... a while since I've been down here" I look around the room and he nods. I stand up next to him, about a foot shorter than him as he guides me to the room door. He opens it and looks down the halls, he walks out into the hall, and I follow close behind him. He gets me to some metal doors and presses a button that lights up, and soon after the doors slide open. I look at the doors as he steps in, and I follow behind him. He pressed another button, this one with a number on it, there were a bunch of numbered buttons. He pressed one with the number one on it.
I gulp as I feel the contraption bounced, I grip the side of this metal bar on the wall. He didn't look bothered as the contraption went downward. I let out a sigh as it stopped, and the doors opened. I followed close behind him as we snuck past people and out the doors. We walked for a while until we found this path into this wooded area and went into it. We were walking when I looked up at the Angel. "What is your name, little one?" I ask as I walk in my bare feet on this path. "Castiel" I nod and smile a bit. "Thank you" He nods as we finally stop after seeing a lead up to a pavemented area.
"I know someone who lives around here I'm sure she would be able to help you with your clothing... for now um" He hums as he rolls his shoulders and slides off his coat from his body. He helped me slide it over the gown, I buttoned it and buckled it keeping it tight on me trying to cover as much of the gown underneath as possible. He nodded and we started walking. We were originally on a path in some wood area, but he ended us up on a sidewalk in a neighborhood. We walked for a while until we ended up outside this house. He stopped me and looked at me. "You should probably keep the GOD'S wife thing... quiet for now, if she asks, you're an Angel" he says, and I nod playing along with it.
We walk up to the door, and he takes his fist and taps it on the door. It's a moment when the door swung out, I stayed pretty well hidden behind Castiel as he and the woman spoke. "Hello?" she asks in a confused voice. "Jody Mills?" he asks, and I guess the woman nods. "I'm Castiel" I peeked from behind Castiel and looked, as the woman took a moment with her mouth moving but no words coming out. She was finally able to get out some words. "Sam and Dean's Castiel?" he only nodded, and she took a deep breath. "Ok... um what is it you need?" she asks as she reaches and scratches behind her ear.
He moves a bit out of my way and starts to speak again. "This is Irene, a friend of mine... and I was hoping you would have some clothes she could use" I fidget with my fingers and her look softens. "Absolutely... you two come in" she says and moves out of the way of the door letting me and Castiel walk inside. I look around the house as I step inside. Castiel stood right behind me. I saw as she stood in front of me and looked me up and down quickly. "You're about my size, I could find something that will fit you" she says with a smile then a confused expression, but she only shook it off and looked back up at me. "I'll be getting you some shoes too" She sighs and walks away into a different room.
I stand around with Castiel as he stands around... almost protectively when Jody came walking back into the room with a small stack of clothes in her hands. She hands them over to me and I take them. "The bathroom is down that hall... 3rd door on your right" She smiles sweetly, and I go down the hall she pointed me down. I walked into the room, and I shut the door. I set the clothes on the edge of the sink as I look up at my reflection in the mirror...
It had been forever since I had seen myself... I almost started to forget what I looked like. I had forgotten things about myself. Mostly small things, like the light freckles that brushed my nose, or the small beauty mark I had on my collarbone. I take off Castiel's trench coat and I fold it and set it down. I continue to stare at myself in the mirror as I nitpick every detail of myself, I had seemingly forgotten. I lifted the gown I was wearing and folded that up, setting it with Castiel's trench coat. I was left bare as I stared at myself in the mirror. Almost reminding myself of how I looked. I reached up to my hair and twisted my finger through it. I had natural wavy hair, and it was this dark brown with an orange tint to it when in the sun. My hair cut off right at my waist and had a natural side part.
I grabbed my hair and pulled it off my shoulders letting it rest on my back. I leaned in closer to the reflection and looked into my own eyes. I had a set of very pale blue eyes.
'Your eyes are like the stars...'
At least that's what he would tell me. I blink as I take a deep breath and look back down at the sink looking away from my reflection. I look at the clothes and start putting them on, starting with the under garments, to the shirt, to the pants. Each piece was a slight bit snug, the top undergarment not fitting much at all, so I ended up not wearing it. Jody had given me a gray long sleeve shirt, and a pair of pants that buttoned up at the top. The pants were rather snug, but I made them work. There was one more piece of clothing that the only place that looked right was my feet. So, I slid them on as I felt a bit strange with pieces of cloth covering my feet. I wiggled my toes trying to make the cloth comfortable, but I gave up and only grabbed Castiel's trench coat and walked out of the room to where Castiel stood with Jody.
I walk up and Jody turns to look at me. She picks up some shoes off the floor and hands then over to me. "These will probably fit you" I look at them and there a brown boot, I lean on the arm of her couch as I slide my feet into the boots. I wiggle my toes in them as I press my feet to the ground as my foot hits the bottom of the shoe.
"Do you two need anything for the road? Water? Food? Do Angels eat?" Jody asks, looking at me and Castiel back and forth. I saw Castiel was about to speak but I interrupted him. "C-Can I get a water?" I ask, my voice still sounding scratchy. Jody nods and walks away to her kitchen. I started coming to the conclusion in my head that the reason my voice was like this was due to not using it for... eons. I couldn't feel any soreness or anything in my throat, but it felt strange to talk again.
Jody comes back into the room with a bottle with water in it. I take the bottle and I crack it open taking a small sip of the cold water. I hum feeling the liquid falling down my throat. I nod at the woman as a thank you. "Thank you, Jody," Castiel says and Jody smiles. "It's no problem, you need anything let me know" Castiel nods and walks to the door, and I follow.
We walk out to the sidewalk and start walking on the sidewalk until we reach a building. I follow Castiel when he walks up to this sort of box. He pulled out metal circles and slid them into a slot on the box, picked up the oddly shaped thing on the box and put it against his ear and started pressing buttons. I hummed as I started to think about how much I had missed and how much I'm going to have to get used to. I looked around as I stood behind Castiel until my eyes landed on this girl who was standing by a vehicle. I squinted my eyes at her then I looked back at Castiel who was talking to someone. I think about it then I go and step walking over to the girl, she furrowed her brows but didn't move. I stand directly in front of her, and she looks at me nervously as she tries to back up. It took me a moment, but I finally figured out what she was.
"Angel?"

Chapter 3: 2 // wander
Chapter Text
I stood in front of this girl as she stumbled backward. I backed away noticing how nervous and confused I made her. I hummed when I heard Castiel's footsteps behind me. The girl seemed to slightly relax seeing Castiel pop up behind me. Castiel calmly looked down at me and I looked up at him. "She's an Angel" I say swiftly and Castiel nods slowly.
"My name's Hael" she says softly as she keeps eye contact with Castiel. I look at her as Castiel talks with her. She seemed, tired well, being an Angel with no grace does that to you. We all ended up sitting by the building and Castiel spoke to her. Spoke to her about humans... how the Angel's falling could be a good thing. The Angel expressed her wanting to visit a place called 'The Grand Canyon'. But Castiel expressed he couldn't escort her there. We stood prepared to turn around and leave, which we started to. We were walking when there was something in the corner of my eye. It was the girl raising a board of wood. I felt my reflexes kick in and I pushed Castiel to the side causing the board the girl held to hit my shoulder. I grunt the hit bringing me down to a knee.
I watch as Castiel stumbles to the side and looks over at Hael who drops the board down to the ground and pulls out a blade... an Angel blade. I groan when the girl presses the tip of the blade on my back. I sigh as I look up at a concerned Castiel. "I will kill her if you don't comply with me, Castiel" I bite my tongue and I look at Castiel. Who looked like he was about to give in, and I shook my head at him. He furrowed his brows, and I took a deep breath in and jolted my body backward onto the blade causing it to go through my shoulder blade. It burned like crazy, almost like it was boiling my blood, but I put on a blank face as the girl let go of the blade, I guess expecting me to curl over and die. I stumbled to my feet and the girl stood there in a state of shock as I stumbled over to Castiel and fell into him.
"...take it out Castiel" I groan, grinding my teeth together. He grabs the handle of the blade and in one swift motion pulls it out of my shoulder and I let out a sigh of relief as the boiling feeling slowly fades away. The girl looked frustrated and confused and tried to back away a bit. But Castiel jumped forward and proceeded to stab the girl in the shoulder. Causing her eyes to burn white and her body to go limp slowly. Castiel only stood there for a moment until he turned away and helped me up off the ground. The open wound in my shoulder started to heal relatively quickly.
"Are you ok?" He asks and I nod as I put a bit of pressure on the hole in my shoulder. "Let's get out of here" he says, grabbing my forearm gently and pulling me to walk.
~~~
We walked... and walked until we found this station filled with large vehicles. He sat me down on a bench as I sipped from the water bottle the lady... Jody gave to me. I watched as Castiel walked over to this booth of sorts and talked to the lady inside of it. I sat watching him until he turned back in my direction and walked over to the bench sitting down next to me.
I had my back straightened as he started writing on multiple pieces of paper. With some sort of writing utensil. I watched him write, he was slow and precise. He stopped and folded up one of the pieces of paper and handed it to me. "Put it in your pocket" I nod and put it in the small pocket on the pants I wore. He started to write even more on this second piece of paper. He finished and handed me the paper, not folding this one. He also handed me a smaller piece of paper with it. "I'm going to need you to follow these directions on this paper... I am sending you to some good friends of mine, The Winchesters. When you get to where this paper will take you, give them the paper I had you put into your pocket." I nod taking in the info.
"This ticket..." he points at the small piece of paper. "Will take you as close as it can get you to where I need you to go..." I nod as I furrow my brows as I look up at him. "Where are you going?" I ask and he seems to freeze up a bit. "There are some things I need to deal with" he says, and I nod, he pulls out one of the Angel blades and hands it to me. "Take this, do not speak or interact with anyone unless you are lost, do not interact with any Angel you come across" I take a deep breath and nod as I grip the blade. "Do not take it out unless you absolutely need it" I nod as I tuck it into one of the loops on my pants and use the shirt to cover it up.
He stands up and I stand up with him, he walks me over to one of the large vehicles and we stand beside the entrance to it. Where people climb up into it. I look up at Castiel and give him a small smile. I instinctively reach and wrap my arms around him into a hug. "Thank you Castiel" I say, and he slowly hugs me back. I only get a hum in response which I take, he slowly pushes me away and nods looking at the door. "I'll be ok" I say, and he nods again. "I know" he responded lightly as he moved away from the door leaving me there.
I look at him then the vehicle and I climb up into it. I look at the man in front of me as he reaches his hand out. It takes me a moment then I give him the ticket and continue onto the vehicle. I see multiple seats; I find one that was empty, and I sit in the seat closest to the window of the vehicle. I look out and see Castiel watching as the vehicle started, making a rumbling noise causing me to twitch a bit in my seat. The vehicle started to move, and I watched as Castiel faded from my view.
I sat there for a moment before looking down at my paper with directions, I looked around on it to get a general idea of where I was going. Lebanon, Kansas. Ok. I sat the paper in my lap and leaned my head onto the window...
'Is this a dream?' I thought to myself, have I actually started to go nuts. I mean I was stabbed... and it hurt so, maybe I am awake... am I? That's all I could think about. Was this actually happening, am I even real? Everything around me felt fake. But also real... realer than what I was thinking about in that stupid sleep (that I'm possibly still in). It still seemed too good to be true. Whatever... I just won't get my hopes up.
And there I sat in silence... not bothered to talk to a single soul.
Chapter 4: 3 // meeting
Chapter Text
The journey averaged at least 8 to 9 hours... I wasn't too bothered by it. I think I got off the vehicle once to use the facilities but besides that I never left my seat. I did as Castiel and didn't speak to anyone, though no one seemed to try to speak to me so that was a no brainer.
The vehicle came to hiss and halt. "Alrighty final stop!" The driver yelled out and I stood up and slowly made my way off the vehicle, I stood looking around as the sun beat down. I look around a bit and as I stay out of people's way. I looked up and down from the paper to make sure I didn't walk into anything... as I walked away from where the vehicle stopped. I tried to read the paper; I could read what was said but... I didn't understand what it meant. I think Castiel forgot I was asleep for eons and didn't understand all this. I found a bench and I plopped down on it and stared intently at the paper with my directions.
I guess my stare was worrying because a lady, maybe in her mid 20's walked up to me with a look of concern on her face. "Do you need help ma'am?" I blink then look up at the woman, I quickly clear my throat. "Um y-yes... I'm a bit lost it seems" I say trying to hold back any harsh scratchiness in my throat. "My... friend, is sending me to his friends and he gave... me directions but, I guess I don't know where I'm really going" I look up at her and sort of show her the directions Castiel gave me. He eyebrows furrows as she looks a bit confused. "Um... I'm sure no one lives on this road" she tries to say with a slight chuckle.
"I- can you just show me the way?" I asked, not wanting to be asked too many questions I couldn't answer. She seemed to just stay silent for a moment and handed the paper back to me and nodded. "I can give you a ride to the road, but I have to get to work soon. Luckily that road on the way to my work" I hop up off the seat and nod. "T-thank you" I say my voice making a scratchy sound as I speak.
'That was so annoying' I think to myself, I know I haven't used my voice in eons, but did it really have to make that noise anytime I opened my mouth. The woman nodded and started to walk, and I followed standing next to her. She led me to her vehicle and waved for me to get in. I was slow to open the door, so when I finally got it open, she was already in her seat. I had to hop up into the vehicle sitting awkwardly straight in the seat. I could feel the woman give me a strange look, but the vehicle started and started moving.
I didn't have to sit in the awkward silence for long until the woman started to slow the vehicle until a stop and see points. "Right there" she says pointing in the direction. I look at her. "Thank you, ma'am, your kindness was very much appreciated" she nods slowly, and I open the car door, shutting it behind me as I walk over to the place the lady pointed to. I was a bit of a dip onto a path of dirt. I don't look back and start to walk.
As I walked, I looked around, looking at the trees and the bushes. This was my second ever time being down on earth, well this earth. Everything around felt rather calming... where is he?
I stubble into a clearing. I look around and see what I could only assume was what Castiel called the bunker in his instructions. I walk over and walk down to the door. I stuff the instructions into my empty pocket and hover my hand over to the door before I knock on the metal door. I put my hands down at my sides as I wait for someone to come to the door. There was a long pause, and I was about to knock again but I put my hand down when I heard a creak of the metal door start to open. I backed away from the door as I saw someone peak from the door.
"Who are you and what do you want?" It was a gruff male voice. "My... my name is Irene and Castiel sent me here" I say then clear my throat. I could see the suspicion in his eyes, and I was so focused on his face I didn't notice the weapon pointed at me. He stayed silent and I slowly reached the note Castiel told me to give to whoever answered the door. Making sure to make my movements slow so he didn't feel threatened. I pull out the note and stretch it out to him. He furrowed his brows and squinted his eyes. "Castiel told me to give it to whoever answered the door" I bite my tongue, and the door slowly opens up, showing another man behind the door, a bit taller than the one pointing his weapon at me.
He quickly reached out and snatched the note causing me to flinch back, backing away from the door as much as I could without going up the stair that led to it. Both the men stared down at the note while also looking up at me at times, they then looked at each other and the taller one whispered but I could hear it anyway. "Come on Dean, that's Castiel's handwriting... he also put that little smiley face at the end of his name" the man who I've figured out is Dean whispers back. "Come on Sam you can't believe this". "Dean it's right there, he even put the little 𝚆's at the end of your names.
Dean sighed and looked up at me as I stood there with my hands behind my back. "You have any weapons on you" I pause and blink. "Yes" I say with a short nod, and he reaches his hand out. I blink and tilt my head. "Give it..." He said with a bit of frustration, and I made an o shape with my lips. I lift up the shirt that was over the blade and I pull it out of the loop in my pants and hand it to him, making sure I hand it to him handle first. He takes it and looks me up and down. "That it?" he asks, and I nod. He looks at Sam and storms away from the door.
Sam rolls his eyes and moves out the way of the door. "Come in" he says, and I slowly step inside. He closes the door behind me, and I look around, I follow him as he starts walking down some stairs. I keep my distance, but I make sure to hold onto the railing until I step onto solid ground. I look around unsure of what to do or say to the boys. "You can sit wherever you want," Sam says with a friendly smile. I nod as I wander over to a comfy looking chair and plop down, the chair sat in a corner of the room, and I just sat staring. Unsure of what to do.
I watched as Sam grabbed a chair from one of the tables and turns it to face me as he sits down in it. "What's your name?" I clear my throat and try to speak without my voice being scratchy. "Irene" I say, and he nods. "And you're an Angel?" He asks and I don't really think and shake my head. This caused him to furrow his brows then look at Dean who leaned on the edge of the table. "What the fuck are you then?" I tilt my head. "Did Castiel not explain that in the note?" I ask sitting my hands under my thighs.
Dean scoffs. "No, he did not, where is he anyway?" He asks and I bite my cheek. "I am unsure of his whereabouts" I say, and Dean seems to get even more frustrated. "You didn't think to ask where he was going when he sent you here" I feel my expression start to get a bit sterner. "I did, he told me not to worry about it" I grumble. Causing Dean to sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Stupid angel..." he grumbles under his breath, and I glare at him slightly. Causing Sam to swat him away. This time when I looked over at Sam, I froze... angel? I could see the essence of an angel inside him. Did he know about it? I opened my mouth to say something but before I could the Angel came forth taking control of the moment. I squint at the Angel and stand up out of the chair making sure to back away.
"Who are you really?" The Angel asks almost angrily, and I huff reminding myself that GOD told the Angels I died. "I am who I say I am" I hum as I stare up at the Angel. "No... she is dead, who are you?". "He lied to you all..." I say sternly as I back away with every step the Angel made toward me. I hear Dean say something in the background. "What the hell are you two talking about?" He says I only glance at him before I go back to staring at the Angel in front of me.
"..." I stay silent, not sure if I should answer Dean's question as I keep my distance from the Angel in front of me. "no, you're lying," he says in frustration, and I shake my head. "He didn't kill me... he lied; I was alive... not sure where but I was in heaven the whole time" I say, and he seems to get more frustrated. "We...we... would have sensed you someone would have known..." he seemed more and more panicked than frustrated by the second. I watched as he started pacing the room and I walked over nice and slow over to him. I grab his hand to stop him from pacing and he freezes. He looks at my hand to my face over and over. He was breathing shakily trying to wrap his head around this.
I flinch slightly when he grabs me by my shoulders and pulls me close. He looks at me before wrapping his arms around me tightly. He was shaking a bit as he held me so tight. "I'm so sorry mama..." he mutters into the top of my head, and I hum. "For what?" I furrow my brows, and he just shakes his head. I sigh. "What's your name?" I ask patting his shoulder. "Ezekiel" I nod slowly... I had this strange gut feeling but I decided to ignore it for the moment. I rub and pat his shoulder, but he slowly pulls away looking down at me. "How?" he asks, and I shrug. He sighs and pushes away. That's when I see his grace push back into Sam who seems to start falling, I flinch and catch him, but I put him down onto the ground slowly.
Dean rushes over to Sam. "Do not mention this to him?" I furrow my brows and tilt my head. "Does he not know?" He shakes his head and sighs. "Why?" I ask sternly. "I'll... explain once you explain who the fuck you are?" I sigh and look down at Sam as he lays on the ground. "I shall explain once Sam awakens" I hum standing up and walking over to a chair and sitting down. Dean sighs and stays on the ground with his brother.
"fine..."
Chapter 5: 4 // believer
Chapter Text
It didn't take long for Sam to awaken. Dean made up a lie saying he passed out. It made me uncomfortable lying to the boy. We all sat at a wooden table, me sitting across from them as I got them on the topic of what they do.
"So, you two hunt monsters for a living?" I tilt my head as they just explained to me about what they do. "Yep" Dean nods then leans on the table. "Now... no more side tracking... who and what are you?" he says in a stern voice, and I sigh.
"I'm GOD'S wife..."
I say causing a silence to fill the room. "GOD has a wife?" Is the first question out of Dean's mouth. "Yup..." I grumble as I look down at my hand at the ring on my finger. It wasn't really a ring though; I couldn't take it off. It melted pretty much into my skin and ever since the day he put it on me I couldn't take it off. It was a diamond ring with a rose gold band. The diamond was big but not big enough to be obnoxious. "How do we know you're not just making this up?" I look up at the boys and sigh.
I shrug. "Guess you'll just have to take my word for it, I can tell you I don't wish to harm you in any sort of way" I say, and after clearing my throat. Dean looked at me suspiciously while Sam seemed pretty open to the idea of me being GOD'S wife. "Dean... come on she hasn't posed a threat since she's been here" Dean only rolls his eyes and stands up. "Whatever, but if she ends up killing us, I'm blaming you" he says bluntly as he walks away into a hallway. Sam sighs and looks over at me. "Ignore him, he's not good with new people, especially things he doesn't understand" I nod and stare in the direction he left in.
I do twist my head in the direction of Sam when I hear a buzzing sound. That's when he pulled out that device, I saw that lady using earlier. I clear my throat and look up at him. "What is that?" I ask, pointing at the thing in his hand. He pauses from moving his fingers and looks up and holds it up to confirm this is what I was talking about. I nod and he chuckles a bit. "Um this is called a phone; it's mostly used to call and message other people" I tilt my head. "You can speak to people on that thing?" he nods and walks over beside me and lets me look at the screen as he presses letters on the screen to make words that he sends to someone. I blink at the screen as I watch him.
"...interesting" I say quietly as I look away from the bright light of the screen, making me rub my eyes. He nods and puts the phone away into his pocket and I look up at him again. "May I ask you a question?" I hum and Sam nods, sitting back down into a chair. "... Castiel mentioned that GOD has been... absent" He nods slowly, and I take a deep breath. "No one has had contact with him?" I ask and he shakes his head. "No one that we've known of" I nod, I felt... relieved? Yet also nervous. Not knowing where he was made me anxious, I didn't know if he could sense me. If he knew that I was awake, If I was even awake. I hated not knowing.
I started tapping my nail on the table in front of me as I started going through my thoughts. Trying to think of any reason he would just run off. There were many though... he always seemed to love running away from his responsibilities. I sigh and rub my eyes when Sam rested his hand on my shoulder getting my attention. "Can I show you to your room?" he asks me, standing up next to me. I nod and stand up and follow him as he starts to walk in the direction of the hallway. HE walks a little way, and we walk into a blank room. Mostly all white and gray. He leads me in and spins around to face me.
"Well, this will be where you are staying... Do you sleep?" I shake my head, and he nods. "Well, you can just hang out here anytime you want... I'm guessing you don't have any other clothes" I looked down at the clothes on my body that had started to dig into my skin to make indents. I nod and he hums. "I could get you something from my closet, that's probably more comfortable than that" I nod and thank him. "All good, I'll be right back" I stand around in the middle of the room as he walks out of it.
I just stood looking around, I wandered into the connected room that happened to be a bathroom. I look into the mirror and walk closer to it, leaning over the sink looking closer into my features. The barely visible freckles that brush under my eyes. The light reflected in my eyes made them seem brighter, almost white. I started tapping on my reflection with my nail. I sigh and rub my eyes leaning away from my reflection. That is when I hear Sam say my name. "Irene?" I walk back into the room, and he lets out a breath. He has a couple items of clothing in his hands as he walks over to me.
"This is just an old t-shirt of mine and some sweatpants" I take the clothing from his hands and nod. "Thank you, Sam" I say softly as I look up at him. He nods and scratches the back of his neck. "I'll let you get dressed than" He slowly backs out the room and door. "That is appreciated Sam" He nods before backing out and shutting the door behind him. I set the clothes on the bed and get undressed and let out a breath as I look at the indents the clothes left in my skin. I take the shirt and slide it over my head. It hit in almost a way a dress would. I grabbed the pants and slid them up, they were quite big on me, so I grabbed the strings on the pants and pulled them and watched as they tightened. I got them to at least stay up, tying the string off to keep them up.
I didn't mind their larger nature; they were much more comfortable than the clothes I was wearing. I grabbed the clothes I was wearing and laid them nicely on my bed. I look at the door and walk out of my room down the hallway back to the main room. I look around and see Sam sitting at the table with another, but bigger screen. I walk over and I guess he hears me because he spins his head around. "I guess they are a little big," he says with a chuckle referring to the clothes he let me wear. I nod and look down at them. "Well get you some clothes that fit you soon" he says before looking back at the screen. I walk over and sit in the chair next to him and watch curiously as the screen moves around at his will.
"What are you doing?" I ask and he hums. "My job" I furrow my brows, and he chuckles. "You catch monsters with this?" He holds back any sort of laugh and sighs. "Kind of, this helps us find the monsters then we go and kill them ourselves" he explains, and I nod. "How did you all meet Castiel?" I hum, I knew Angels didn't go down to earth that often so I wanted to know. "...Castiel, dragged Dean out from Hell a while ago" I furrow my brows. "Why was he in Hell?" I ask in a soft inviting voice. He went quiet for a bit before he responded. "Well, he sold his soul so I could live" He gives an obvious fake smile as he looks back down at the screen.
I nodded and decided to stop asking questions. I sat beside him for a while until I saw him stop and read something. I watch him waiting for some type of reaction. All he does though is shut the device and stand up excusing himself as he speed walks in the direction of the hallway. I get up and slowly follow him, I get there in enough time for him to enter the room and start to talk to Dean. I listened but the one thing that he said that stuck out to me was.
"Do you think it could be Cas?"
